The girls have, more than once, mentioned a brand new single coming out in Q4 2017. It'll be their 18th single as a solo act, and 19th if you count the CNCO remix (not sure whether to count this or not??)
It's rumored to be part of a re-release of Glory Days, but some think it's from a new album, and I can imagine they'll perform it on X Factor's live shows. |

Personally I'd count Reggaeton Lento as being their 18th single, particularly considering they have a joint credit as main artist. Therefore I'd consider the next single as their 19th!
I'm certainly looking forward to another new single later this year. |

Can't wait for this. Assume we won't be getting it until november though.

Excited to hear this. I really think something more in the vain of 'Touch' and it'll be their biggest hit to date most likely! I feel like with 'Glory Days' they finally made it "cool" to like them and they were bringing in fans from all over the place instead of sticking to their original fan base. I hope they can capitalise on that!
I'd say after this re-release (and a 2nd new single to tide us over in low sales Q1. Take 3 or 4 months out, then come back with a greatest hits or something for XF next year, carry it over to Q1 of 2019 if they want, but then take enough time out for us and the public to miss them, before making a big comeback at the XF finals of 2019 or something, or even not coming back until Q1 of 2020. |

I actually don't think what they're releasing now will be quite as big (upon debut) because of a slight overexposure they've experienced from releasing single after single back to back for 2 years, I think we're looking at something a bit bigger than RL for the opening, and a possible #1 if they perform on XF the same weekend. It'll be great for the album over Christmas but I think them going on a break after this year is much needed, whatever they release in Q3/Q4 2018 will be huge because the public would have been missing them.

Yeah I agree. I feel like that's why RL hasn't quite gone to number 1. Been a bit over exposed, in the general publics eye. A break is def needed at some point. Tbf, maybe that's why the label are probs going for a re-release? Coz they feel the same, but they want the girls for the XF finals this year due to the ratings boost it gave the show last year?

Yep, I think so. I think a re-release gives them a new single to keep the album selling loads over Christmas and for January sales/Brits but doesn't mean they're tied into releasing like 3/4 singles for a whole year. Can just disappear in 2018 until the next album is ready. |

Taking a 'break' is always risky. Very few bands have a fanbase that sticks around for when they come back. It was easily the biggest mistake Spice Girls ever made not releasing an album from 1998-2000.
Then again Sugababes did it and achieved one of their biggest hits on their comeback and a huge album... |

Yeah. That's why I wrote out my original post. They have to be careful. Manufactured acts are expendable. I guess no hefty break did Girls Aloud any damage (pre-Something New)

Little Mix should re-release Glory Days but have Reggaton Lento as the single, perform it on X Factor then take a break after the tour until September 2018

When I say ‘taking a break’ I’m not talking Years like Spice Girls, One Direction, Girls Aloud - I’m literally talking of about 5/6/7 months without a single on the radio which is a good breathing space for the public as well as time for people to feel genuinely excited about new music. We had a 3 month break between Hair and Shout Out which worked great for the girls, but now they’ve had two big eras close together they’ve done enough to cement themselves into the public’s minds. If Girls Aloud had come back after a year instead of 3 years they’d have had way more success. |

This new song will be their sixth in around a year, which works out at a new song every couple of months. I think the girls are already suffering a bit from over exposure as since Black Magic they just seem to have been permanently around. Acts like Ed, Taylor and Sam Smith have all taken some time out and their fans have missed them, which has meant bigger hype when they do come back

They need to rest and make the people miss them a bit. I hope they cancel whatever single they planning on releasing this year and move it to Summer 2018. Just make RLR the "lead" single, perform it on the X-Factor then re-release Glory Days to push it to 3x Platinum and maybe hit the 2M mark worldwide.
I just feel like releasing a whole new album right now isn't a great idea but that's just me. |

Could it be another #1 hit when it comes out?

I agree about needing a little break too. They can do plenty of things to keep the fans happy without being shoved down the publics throat. It's funny because they have done very little promo for their last few singles, it's just radio is hammering them and they're dominating the charts it feels like they haven't been away.

I think if handled properly (like SOTME) it could go to number 1
Look what Reggaeton did with no promo / video. Straight to number 1 on iTunes. This post has been edited by shindymindy: 20th September 2017, 12:56 PM |

I believe a final push for this era would be great, a new single and album re-release purely to maximize on their current popularity. Then they need to take a break, both for themselves and also to avoid overkill.
If they take a break, all they really need to do is comeback with a killer lead single to attract the fans and public attention again. The break after the second album in many ways is what saved their careers as it was the Get Weird era that brought them to a new level. |

Yeah I echo everyone else's sentiments. I really hope this upcoming single is from a re-release rather than an entirely new project. They've been a constant presence on UK radio for over two years now, so I can definitely imagine GP fatigue setting in soon. One or two more singles and then a break until Q4 2018 would be ideal imo.

The next single will most likely be one of the new songs which will appear on the re-release of GD which is due for release 24th November
