Time for a song from Taylor's wonderful Red album!

[Verse 1]
Once upon a time, a few mistakes ago
I was in your sights, you got me alone
You found me, you found me, you found me
I guess you didn't care, and I guess I liked that
And when I fell hard, you took a step back
Without me, without me, without me

[Pre-Chorus]
And he's long gone, when he's next to me
And I realize the blame is on me

[Chorus]
'Cause I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So, shame on me now
Flew me to places I'd never been
'Til you put me down, oh
I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So, shame on me now
Flew me to places I'd never been
Now I'm lying on the cold hard ground
Oh, oh-oh
Trouble, trouble, trouble
Oh, oh-oh
Trouble, trouble, trouble

[Verse 2]
No apologies, he'll never see you cry
Pretend he doesn't know
That he's the reason why
You're drowning, you're drowning
You're drowning
And I heard you moved on
From whispers on the street
A new notch in your belt is all I'll ever be
And now I see, now I see
Now I see

[Pre-Chorus]
He was long gone when he met me
And I realize the joke is on me, hey!

[Chorus]
I knew you were trouble when you walked in (oh)
So, shame on me now
Flew me to places I'd never been
'Til you put me down, oh
I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So, shame on me now
Flew me to places I'd never been (yeah)
Now I'm lying on the cold hard ground
Oh, oh-oh (yeah)
Trouble, trouble, trouble
Oh, oh-oh
Trouble, trouble, trouble

[Bridge]
And the saddest fear
Comes creeping in
That you never loved me
Or her, or anyone, or anything, yeah!

[Chorus]
I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So, shame on me now
Flew me to places I'd never been (never been)
'Til you put me down, oh
I knew you were trouble when you walked in
(Knew it right there)
So, shame on me now (knew it right there)
Flew me to places I'd never been (ooh)
Now I'm lying on the cold hard ground
Oh, oh-oh
Trouble, trouble, trouble (oh)
Oh, oh-oh
Trouble, trouble, trouble

[Outro]
I knew you were trouble when you walked in
Trouble, trouble, trouble
I knew you were trouble when you walked in
Trouble, trouble, trouble

How did this song hold up for you over the years? Is it a smash?

I think this was the first song of hers I actually properly liked. laugh.gif (aside from maybe 'The Story of Us' previously)

A lot of the dubstep stuff from that era has aged really badly but this has held up well for me! In fact, still my favourite Taylor song.

Before this song, I think I’d only really acknowledged Taylor a couple of times (Love story & I knew you were trouble). I thought both those songs were great but they didn’t make me love Taylor and I think it is similar with this song - I liked it as a discrete song of hers but I wasn’t running out to buy the album. I can’t deny it was the 1989 era that turned me into a fully fledged fan. In saying that, I listened to this song a lot back in the day and I still think it’s great now. It has a great sassy attitude to it and one that I think encapsulates Taylor well.

I kinda hated country-Taylor until Red came out and I did a 180 with her music, this is her first song that I rated as an 11/10 song

One of her absolute best wub.gif damn I SPAMMED this song so hard in early 2013. It still goes off so hard and I'm glad how much of a massive hit it was <3

Her Brit Awards performance is one of my favourite Taylor performances ever

I saw my mom listening to this song on youtube before several times, so she must really like it.
