Hi! I'm in the process of making a Kylie best of as she has more than enough tracks in her catalogue to make a decent collection but I always find it jarring if I combine her 80s/early 90s stuff with the later tracks.
I noticed there was a Mousse T version of Step Back In Time which, while not as great as the original, does fit more with her later hits. I was therefore wondering if any of you knew any other more modern takes on her old material? Any help appreciated! |

‘Step Back In Time’ was remixed to promote the new album and was the first time they’ve done something like that - her remix albums (Boombox, Mixes etc.,) might be of interest but that only covers her Deconstruction work on Mixes and Parlophone work on Boombox.

Ah okay, thanks for responding!
It's a shame in that case, her earlier material is from that hideous PWL period that just sounds more dated than any other era of music for me. But some of the songs aren't so bad and could be turned into something quite good - I call a new project for her! |

Dandy* You should give 'Abbey Road Sessions' a listen! I'm a big fan of 'Hand On Your Heart'.

There's the Abbey Road Sessions that's like orchestral and acoustic versions of some of her PWL stuff. Otherwise there's various unofficial remixes on YouTube that sometimes dancier versions of older songs. I don't know of any myself though.

Im lucky (maybe unlucky to others) but i like all the originals of the songs i like, i have never been a fan of re worked songs, Abbey Roads is ok but i prefer all the originals and while some remixes are ok i still prefer the originals. There was alot of Kylie mash up songs through the years but again never really worked for me.

I wouldn't say I exactly dislike some of the originals but I really don't think they mesh at all well with her newer material, they are what they are I guess. It's good that she has enough hits to make that clear divide on her best ofs these days but I'd never really choose to play the earlier hits disc in one go.

If you check out SoundCloud too, there's often fan-made studio versions of reworked live performances. It helps keep them interesting on tour so some of them may be of interest.

With SBIT I have disc 2 on way more than disc one but I go through phases with the older and newer material . |

Me too - I love the originals but I guess that’s partly to do with the fact of the memories attached to them, ISBSL was my first vinyl and I was obsessed with the Kylie and Jason Neighbours days! However I love all the remixes etc., although I REALLY struggled to get into the Abbey Road stuff at the time. |

I was a huge Charlene and Scott fan then a Jason and kylie fan, especially for you was my first vinyl, and my older sister bought kylie the album on cassette for me so they were my first music items I had and I've such great memories associated with that time. I also remember buying enjoy yourself on vinyl in release day and I thought it was the best thing ever as the music I just loved and I still do. I also wanted enjoy yourself on cassette so got a little bold, I stole the empty cassette box in my local record shop as he used to sell the actual tapes at half price if there was no cover so went back a few weeks later and got the tape itself for half price, I was 11 years old at the time, memories memories!!

That is such a funny story about stealing the album cover, weren't you clever to get get yourself a bargain, although had you been caught it may not have worked out so well.

Great story I remember switching the prices in Woolworths from a 7” that was in the bargain bin to ‘Wouldn’t Change A Thing’ so that I could buy it as I only had £2 |
