 Pop star with a soft spot for sports cars: Dua Lipa and Porsche join forces Dua Lipa has always been a fan of sports cars – and the Porsche brand in particular. Which is why the singer-songwriter and the sports car manufacturer are joining forces. After attending the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in the summer, the now 28-year-old has immersed herself in the world of racing and Porsche's unique history. At the Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles, she had the opportunity to experience the thrill of driving a Porsche for herself, when she got behind the wheel of an all-electric Taycan and both a current and historic 911. The musician, who has a huge global fanbase, says about the partnership with the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer: “Getting to know the Porsche team and digging into the brand’s legacy has only further solidified my love for them. Join chart-topping, Grammy Award-winning British singer-songwriter Dua Lipa as she visits the Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles. Hands firmly gripping the steering wheel of a Porsche Taycan Turbo saloon, launch control engaged, Dua Lipa awaits the go ahead from the Porsche Drive Coach sitting next to her. Ahead of Dua is the long Acceleration Straight at the Porsche Experience Center LA. “Three… two… one… RELEASE THE BRAKE!” As the full power of Launch Control kicks in, it sends the chart-topping British singer-songwriter up the straight at a speed that will see her hit 100km/h in a touch over three seconds. As she engages the brakes and begins to slow, a grin appears on Dua’s face. For Dua, today is all about the start of this journey of discovery. Her day – like every visitor to Porsche Experience Centers across the world – is the chance to learn about Porsche and, of course, drive the cars.  This is what it’s like to drive a Taycan Turbo – without using words Discovering Porsche What do you drive next after the thrill of experiencing Launch Control in a Taycan Turbo? How about the fastest car in the current Porsche range? Dua has never driven a 911 Turbo S before, but it doesn’t take long before it becomes apparent that they are going to get along famously. There are yelps of excitement as Dua is encouraged to power through a corner to test the astonishing levels of grip. And, on the Low-Friction Circle, where jets of recycled water drench the track to test your handling powers, it soon becomes clear that Dua is having so much fun. It’s time for a spot of Porsche history for Dua – and it begins in the form of a 911 Carrera (G-Series) in the particularly eye-catching shade of Oak Green Metallic. Sparkling in the LA afternoon sunshine, it really catches the eye of Dua who, after a quick spin around the track decides that it’s time to take out her phone and snap a few pics of it. “I’m really obsessed with this colour,” she says, placing her hand on the bonnet.  After a run-through session with a Porsche Drive Coach, Dua got behind the wheel and experienced the fun of driving a Taycan first hand Afterwards, it’s time to head back to the workshop area of the Porsche Experience Center where cars are cared for by Porsche experts. Here, a Porsche 962 racecar that was campaigned in the North America’s IMSA championship from 1984-1986 catches Dua’s eye. She leans down to inspect it further – its sleek profile means that it sits extremely close to the ground – peering into the cockpit, intrigued by its tight, race-focused seating position. It’s another piece of knowledge gathering by the intrigued pop star. This is the start of the story, but Dua Lipa is already all in.
