Pink had quite obviously released a lot of singles over the past 21 years but are there any that you feel didnít reach their full potential. Here are some of my thoughts at the top of my head.

Try-top 10 hit and sold pretty well. However itís often picked out on here as one of her best so sometimes I wonder why it didnít get a higher peak.
Donít Let Me Get Me-another top 10/big hit, I always feel like the quality of this track is so much better than itís no.6 peak and one week in the top 10. This is the song that got me obsessed with Pink.
Leave Me Alone (Iím Lonely)-love this track and Iím sure it would have done better if it had been released earlier in the campaign.
God Is A DJ-I through this would be an easy top 5 hit at the time.

'Raise Your Glass' would be the main one for me. It's one of her most remembered hits yet only peaked at #13. Not sure why it entered so low, coming off the back of the 'Funhouse' era and a successful tour. Even Shanye Ward's single debuted higher in the same week and I don't think anyone was particularly here for his comeback (just shows the power of an X Factor performance in those days).

Leave Me Alone (Iím Lonely) for me, a pity it didnít get a CD single in the UK. In 2007 that would have still been beneficial!

Definitely! Always forget it had such a low peak when itís one of her biggest selling hits. I remember it not doing amazing on iTunes initially and this was when the charts were very competitive but it hung around for a while.

easily I Don't Believe You, it's my #1 Pink song and it's absolutely amazing, a total 11/10 of a song, and for a while, it was her only flop :/ even if it were like the 75th single from the album...

Raise Your Glass was a shocking underperformance, as everyone thought it would be an easy #1, and it didn't even crack the top 10. By contrast, it went to #1 in the US... but in perspective, I personally think it's not a very good song, sounds like a re-hash of So What...
On the other hand, Perfect was 1000 times better and it went top 10, but actually should have charted higher, Perfect it's a classic that everybody knows and loves, the US got it right (peaked at #2 there)

I did some research on the charts at the time, maybe this'll provide some context for 'Raise Your Glass' charting at #13.

Firstly it's worth noting that the music video premiered quite late in relation to the single's release. Video premiere: 2nd November, Download release date: 7th November. 'Raise Your Glass' was released in an era of 6 week promotional build ups (typically), so that late music video release wasn't helpful.

I looked back on some old threads and some members expressed that there wasn't any promo (i.e. performances) ~ http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=3317856 / http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=3324554

Initially the radio airplay for 'Raise Your Glass' wasn't too strong. It entered the airplay chart on 17th October 2010, and had a chart run of 81-60-30-25 in the run up to the song's commercial release. It moved up to #17 in the radio chart in the week it entered at #13 in the singles chart.

A few of the songs that were ahead of her in the singles chart had much better airplay. Airplay positions vs. singles chart positions, in that week:

#1/#2 Take That - 'The Flood'
#3/#7 Cheryl - 'Promise This'
#4/#10 Cee Lo Green - 'f*** You'
#5/#1 Rihanna - 'Only Girl (In the World)'
#6/#8 Bruno Mars - 'Just the Way You Are'
#7/#3 Katy Perry - 'Firework'
#8/#6 Mike Posner - 'Cooler than Me'
#10/#5 Alexis Jordan - 'Happiness'
vs.
#17/#13 Pink - 'Raise Your Glass'

...so I suppose it's not too surprising that those songs outsold Pink. As for the songs with worse airplay which still managed to outsell Pink:

#28/#4 McFly - 'Shine a Light' - they could always rely on strong physical sales, though to be fair it was also #9 on downloads
#43/#11 The Black Eyed Peas - 'The Time (Dirty Bit)' - their previous era was massive, and this was released "on air/on sale"
#52/#9 Adele - 'Make You Feel My Love' had a major rise in popularity thanks to a contestant performing it on The X Factor
DNC/#12 Shayne Ward - 'Gotta Be Somebody' - he had an X Factor performance, as noted by Liam!

TV airplay: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=3328132 #1 Rihanna, #2 Alexis Jordan, #5 Katy Perry, #6 Cheryl, #7 Mike Posner, #8 Cee Lo Green, #9 Bruno Mars, #21 Pink

iTunes: Looking back on an old iTunes thread, it appears that 'Raise Your Glass' stalled at #11. The iTunes home page showed the Top 10 songs, and songs that went Top 10 usually experienced "the Top 10 effect" which often resulted in there being quite a significant sales gap between #10 and #11. 'Raise Your Glass' having slightly less visibility wasn't helpful.

In the download chart, Pink reached #14. It was available on CD (it reached #6 in the physical chart) and that helped push 'Raise Your Glass' above Nelly - 'Just a Dream' in the singles chart, which didn't have a physical. The physical Top 3 was Take That, McFly and Shayne Ward. Shayne surprisingly sold more downloads than Pink in that week too.

Going back to radio airplay, 'Raise Your Glass' ended up having a consistent run within the Top 20 - it peaked at #11 on several occasions and was still Top 20 by February 2011.

'Raise Your Glass' Radio Airplay chart run:
17/10/2010 #81
24/10/2010 #60

('Raise Your Glass' fell out of the Top 50)

'Raise Your Glass' deserved more than it got peak wise, for sure, considering that it went on to have a decent chart run and become one of her biggest sellers. Sadly things didn't quite fall into place for it in release week. I don't think I considered it as a #1 contender at the time tbh, not with Rihanna smashing and a 5 piece Take That single out. I'm sure I would have expected and hoped for more than #13 though.

Finally(!) here are the sales from that week's Top 20 singles chart:

Trouble being only Top 10 in the UK and not even Top 70 in the US (!!!) is troubling ~~

'raise your glass' and 'perfect' haunt G-A-Y, so even though they may have not been that big... both are played so often so feel like huge hits.

I'd say 'I Don't Believe You' or 'Please Don't Leave Me' or 'True Love' feel like big smashes that weren't?

Thanks for all that context Jay! 'Raise Your Glass' ended up having a really decent chart run despite that debut so radio airplay clearly helped there, but it does make you wonder what could have been if it had strong support to start with. I agree with Bjork that it's slightly 'So What Pt.2' but that didn't stop me loving it at the time and I do think it has its own merits too.
