BuzzJack Music Forum _ Television _ WORLD CUP OF SITCOMS • THE FINAL

Posted by: Count Olaf 9th October 2018, 06:06 PM

THIS IS IT.

We had 151 different comedy shows nominated, they were whittled down to a shortlist of 42 and eventually we've now got to the FINAL FOUR. Only one can win!

FRIENDS v MIRANDA v THE INBETWEENERS v THE VICAR OF DIBLEY

DEADLINE: TUESDAY 16th OCTOBER at 10:00pm

Posted by: Calum 9th October 2018, 10:35 PM

Miranda gets my vote - I've been going back and watching that a lot recently and it really is Sue Perb wub.gif I do love both Friends and The Inbetweeners though, so a pretty decent final overall!

Miranda but a tough one, Friends or Vicar Of Dibley would be great too though. Inbetweeners is super overrated, don't find it that funny at all but the hype for it has totally spiralled and spiralled to a ridiculous level.

Aw, was hoping Only Fools and Horses or Fawlty Towers might have just made it.

These are all good shows, as cliche as it is, I've gotta go for Friends as it is just about the best here.

Gone for Friends wub.gif The others are all fantastic too but Friends is arguably the most popular sitcom ever made (or one of the top few) for good reason. Even if it did lose its charm later on in its run, the show remained funny, witty, and still with a touch of relatability. I grew up watching this since it was/is my mums favourite tv show of all time, when it wasn’t on tv it was on piles of dvds which I think I still have somewhere...

I do love Miranda but I find it harder to rewatch, same for The Vicar Of Dibley I suppose. The Inbetweeners would probably be competing for my #1 if it had a few more seasons to it or even just better/no movies tongue.gif But I guess they’d then run the risk of losing quality when the short series they did was fantastic.

Going for Friends, surprised Miranda and The Inbetweeners made the final.

I sent for the Vicar Of Dibley!

In betweeners and friends a close second.

Don't get the appeal of Miranda.

It's just about a tall clumsy awkward woman. The whole joke is she is tall, clumsy and awkward. :/

Im not a Miranda fan at all.

THE INBETWEENERS to win.

The last two seasons weren't that funny though, they were generally quite poor. The show became a parody of itself towards the end.

Easily The Inbetweeners!

There was still some good parts though, even if they were rarer compared to the first seasons tongue.gif

Seinfeld did as well tbf, the “show about nothing” ran out of ideas laugh.gif

Seinfeld was still funny towards the end, unlike Friends. I'd say Seinfeld's 9th season was still better than Friends 4th season (1997/98). And that's probably one of the strongest seasons of Friends and definitely one of the weakest seasons of Seinfeld. tongue.gif

Seinfeld didn't even run out of ideas towards the end, the last couple of seasons were still very creative.

Reading this thread one would think it isn't okay to have a differing opinion

I love all of the remaining four, but Inbetweeners does rank alongside Vicar of Dibley below the other two. Friends is great and so easy to just pick up and watch wherever but for me Miranda is the winner. There is a simplicity about it which makes it so easy to relate to wub.gif

Lmao right!!

Seinfield is terrible. Friends will go down in history as the greatest sitcom ever. Everyone knows they are lying to themselves if they say something like MIRANDA of all things is better laugh.gif

The Inbetweeners for me

Yada yada yada...

You've never seen Seinfeld and yet you continue to call it terrible. rolleyes.gif

Most critics generally regard Seinfeld as the greatest sitcom ever. Friends is probably the most popular sitcom ever though.

really got stuck between The Inbetweeners and Friends - went for The Inbetweeners in the end but would probably change if I voted at another time/day!

Wasn't expecting it to be so close too - eek!
