Epecting J-Law to win actress tbh, yawn smoke.gif and Cups to win song even though it barely qualifies.

Ben to win for Argos pls.

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 05:16 PM

My predictions:

Picture:
The Hunger Games

Actor:
Silver Linings Playbook – Bradley Cooper

Actress:
Silver Linings Playbook – Jennifer Lawrence

Supporting Actor:
The Hunger Games – Woody Harrelson

Supporting Actress:
The Hunger Games – Elizabeth Banks

Director:
The Dark Knight Rises – Christopher Nolan

Animation:
Hotel Transylvania

Voice Performance:
Hotel Transylvania – Selena Gomez

Script:
Pitch Perfect

Song:
Les Miserables: Anne Hathaway – I Dreamed A Dream

I'd love for a couple of upsets though. Especially if Hunger Games get nothing! (Although I wouldn't begrudge an Elizabeth Banks win tbh)

Posted by: UltraRedLight 28th June 2017, 05:26 PM

Pink = Want
Blue = Predict

Picture:
The Hunger Games
The Avengers (SLP/THG can easily take this)

Actor:
Silver Linings Playbook – Bradley Cooper
SLP - Bradley Cooper

Actress:
The Hunger Games – Jennifer Lawrence
Silver Linings Playbook – Jennifer Lawrence

Supporting Actor:
The Impossible – Tom Holland
The Master – Phillip Seymour Hoffman

Supporting Actress:
Les Miserables – Samantha Barks
Les Miserables – Anne Hathaway (mark my words, Rebel could pull off a shocker here)

Director:
Silver Linings Playbook – David O’Russell
The Avengers – Joss Whedon

Animation:
Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted
Mad 3

Voice Performance:
Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted – Chris Rock
Hotel Transylvania – Selena Gomez

Script:
Pitch Perfect or SLP
Silver Linings Playbook

Song:
The Hunger Games: Taylor Swift – Safe And Sound
genuinely no clue, I'll go with On My Own

Posted by: nfjabf 28th June 2017, 05:32 PM

Not going to be around for results as I'm watching Baby Driver in a moment but will make sure to catch up later!

Les Mis & Silver Linings for all the awards!!

Posted by: J▲hq 28th June 2017, 05:53 PM

VOICE PERFORMANCE

1. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted – Chris Rock (3,0)
2. Hotel Transylvania – Selena Gomez (2,1)
3. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted – David Schwimmer (1,3)
=4. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted – Ben Stiller (1,2)
=4. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted – Jada Pinkett-Smith (1,2)

So it turns out Marty > Melman > Alex & Gloria. Former Oscar host Chris Rock picks up our first award of the evening for voicing Marty the zebra in the third Madagascar movie, receiving three top preference votes, although he's also the only one not to get any second preference votes so possibly a bit marmite? Singer Selena Gomez is runner-up and my personal favourite, David Schwimmer, comes 3rd having received the most combined votes. Melman the giraffe is hilarious and easily my highlight of the franchise!

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 06:05 PM

Such a poor year for animation. I don't think I liked any of them that much tbh. But Chris, David and Selena were standouts in that category.

Posted by: Regina 28th June 2017, 06:08 PM

Selena killed it sad.gif but can't argue with that winner, even though he's easily the worst character in the movies laugh.gif

Posted by: J▲hq 28th June 2017, 06:18 PM

SONG

1. Les Miserables: Samantha Barks – On My Own (2,2)
=2. Les Miserables: Anne Hathaway – I Dreamed A Dream (2,1)
=2. The Hunger Games: Taylor Swift – Safe And Sound (2,1)
=4. The Muppets: Amy Adams – Me Party (1,0)
=4. The Muppets: The Muppets Cast – Life’s A Happy Song (1,0)
6. Pitch Perfect: Anna Kendrick – Cups (0,3)
7. The Muppets: The Muppets Cast – Man Or Muppet (0,0)

It's a Les Mis top 2 but I'm a little surprised at which one is walking away with the trophy out of the two! A combined effort from myself & UV almost saw Taylor Swift cause an upset. Chart hit "Cups" sadly languishes near the bottom as it had some of the best overall support but everyone preferred something else.

Posted by: UltraRedLight 28th June 2017, 06:22 PM

YASSSSSSSS ON MY OWN!!!!! <3 so well deserved and shocked I predicted that correctly as well!

Also Chris winning as well *.* My top preference though I would've been happy with anyone in that category winning!

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 06:26 PM

YESSSS! The right 'Les Miserables' choice. But would've been stunning either way! wub.gif

Surprisingly strong category overall that one though. I would've been happy to have voted for all of them, bar Taylor (and that's not even a bad song)!

Posted by: Regina 28th June 2017, 06:27 PM

Urgh, at least it wasn't Cups I guess.

Posted by: J▲hq 28th June 2017, 06:47 PM

SCRIPT

1. Argo (2,2)
2. Silver Linings Playbook (2,1)
=3. Pitch Perfect (2,0)
=3. Ted (2,0)
5. The Avengers (1,1)
6. The Impossible (0,3)
7. The Dark Knight Rises (0,2)

Argos takes away the award for Best Store.
Sorry, I mean, Argo wins Best Script, in a narrow victory over the overrated Silver Linings Playbook.
A few of us were more in the mood for comedy, so Pitch Perfect and Ted tie in the bronze position.

Posted by: UltraRedLight 28th June 2017, 06:48 PM

Argo was good but that should've been SLP's or Pitch Perfect's category to win!

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 06:52 PM

Script wise? Nah, completely deserved for 'Argo'! SLP would've been good too though wub.gif

Posted by: Regina 28th June 2017, 06:52 PM

Argo fully deserved that one.

Posted by: J▲hq 28th June 2017, 07:22 PM

ANIMATION

1. Hotel Transylvania (3,4)
2. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted (3,0)
3. Brave (2,0)
4. Rise Of The Guardians (1,0)
5. Paranorman (0,3)
6. Ice Age: Continental Drift (0,1)

A very deserved win here as Hotel Transylvania absolutely storms it heart.gif Surprised the Madagascar threequel proved so popular, I thought the quality dropped off compared to the first two, as tends to be the case (see also: Ice Age and Shrek).

Posted by: UltraRedLight 28th June 2017, 07:23 PM

Hotel/Madagascar were neck and neck for me so I'm happy with that result! <3 2012 was such a strong year in terms of great animations but it lacked the massive highs that other years hit if that makes sense!

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 07:26 PM

'Rise Of The Guardians' is really underrated! wub.gif I love it so much!

Expected 'Hotel Transylvania' to win, so that's no surprise. I think it was my 2nd option though!

Posted by: Regina 28th June 2017, 07:31 PM

great winner <3

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 07:31 PM

Here's how my predictions are working out (SPOILER - They're not working out at all) :')

Picture:
The Hunger Games

Actor:
Silver Linings Playbook – Bradley Cooper

Actress:
Silver Linings Playbook – Jennifer Lawrence

Supporting Actor:
The Hunger Games – Woody Harrelson

Supporting Actress:
The Hunger Games – Elizabeth Banks

Director:
The Dark Knight Rises – Christopher Nolan

Animation:
Hotel Transylvania

Voice Performance:
Hotel Transylvania – Selena Gomez

Script:
Pitch Perfect

Song:
Les Miserables: Anne Hathaway – I Dreamed A Dream

Posted by: UltraRedLight 28th June 2017, 07:35 PM

I'll do the same Jonjo!

Blue = Correct, Red = Wrong

Animation:
Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted

Voice Performance:
Hotel Transylvania – Selena Gomez

Script:
Silver Linings Playbook

Song:
genuinely no clue, I'll go with On My Own

Oops also only got 1 out of 4!!

Posted by: nfjabf 28th June 2017, 07:53 PM

Pleased with that Hotel Transylvania win, both films have been heaps of fun and way better then I expected, monster characters are always fun too cheer.gif

Argo taking home the script award is very deserved too, SLP was my top choice but I was so impressed with Argo when I saw it, one of the better Best Picture winners in recent years imo!

Posted by: J▲hq 28th June 2017, 07:53 PM

SUPPORTING ACTOR

1. The Hunger Games – Liam Hemsworth (3,0)
2. The Impossible – Tom Holland (2,2)
3. Django Unchained – Christoph Waltz (2,1)
4. The Hunger Games – Woody Harrelson (1,4)
5. The Master – Phillip Seymour Hoffman (1,2)

This one surprises me (and Jonjo too seemingly heehee.gif) as Liam Hemsworth picks up the award for his role as Gale in the first Hunger Games movie. IMO there's more to the part that Woody Harrelson is playing, and he does indeed have the most overall support but everyone else preferred at least one other.

Posted by: nfjabf 28th June 2017, 07:56 PM

Omg lol at Liam Hemsworth winning supporting actor here, the one place where being hot gets you an acting award heehee.gif

Waltz & Hoffman have two of the acting performances of the decade so far, for me. The former is utterly terrifying and the latter so realistic, it's a shame they both couldn't win at the Oscars and tie like Streisand/Hepburn sad.gif laugh.gif

Posted by: UltraRedLight 28th June 2017, 07:58 PM

!!!!!!!!!!!

Tom Holland was my top choice but that category really was weak af from the ones I've seen! Liam was good but nowhere near best of the year laugh.gif

Posted by: Regina 28th June 2017, 07:59 PM

drama.gif can he even act tho? I've never seen him do much that requires talent.

Posted by: J▲hq 28th June 2017, 08:03 PM

^ Is that about Liam? ;0 The PM that was forwarded over has him as your top choice unsure.gif

Posted by: Regina 28th June 2017, 08:05 PM

kink.gif tbf, it was a shit category, i hated them all. Liam at least is pretty.

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 08:16 PM

laugh.gif Liam was so BEIGE in that franchise! Woody definitely should have got it out of the 'Hunger Games' choices. But in all honesty, it should've been Tom Holland's </3 He was SOOOOO good in 'The Impossible'.

Christoph Waltz should've been 2nd, too! He was the highlight of 'Django', well, that wasn't Leonardo ofc.

EDIT: I've not seen 'The Master' so can't comment on PSH performance. I've heard very good things though, but I'm not really bothered about seeing it.

Posted by: J▲hq 28th June 2017, 08:22 PM

SUPPORTING ACTRESS

1. Les Miserables – Anne Hathaway (4,1)
2. Les Miserables – Samantha Barks (3,0)
3. The Avengers – Scarlett Johansson (1,3)
4. Pitch Perfect – Rebel Wilson (1,1)
5. The Hunger Games – Elizabeth Banks (0,4)

Anne and Samantha decided to share the love tonight as the actual Oscar winner is triumphant here. Elizabeth Banks does very similar to Woody, plenty of top 2 placings but held back by being the second favourite for many.

Posted by: Regina 28th June 2017, 08:23 PM

ANNE yass

Posted by: nfjabf 28th June 2017, 08:26 PM

Yes at Anne winning, the amount of emotion she put into IDAD was phenomenal (a bit gutted that didn't win song too sad.gif). Samantha Barks was a great runner-up too, Les Mis should have got more acting awards attention irl in my opinion (Helena Bonham Carter & Sacha Baron Cohen were fantastic too heart.gif)

Also, I retract my statement about Christoph Waltz. I haven't even seen Django and thought it was Inglourious Basterds nominated here for some reaon... LOL if I voted for him without thinking laugh.gif

Posted by: J▲hq 28th June 2017, 08:37 PM

Haa nope, you were Hoffman and Holland!

Posted by: nfjabf 28th June 2017, 08:39 PM

QUOTE(J▲hq @ Jun 28 2017, 09:37 PM) *
Haa nope, you were Hoffman and Holland!

Ah good, I stand by this then! tongue.gif

Hoffman should have won his second Oscar that year tbh. Him and Phoenix were the only good things about the movie too to be honest..

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 08:41 PM

That category was seriously tough though. All deserved the win for various reasons.

Posted by: J▲hq 28th June 2017, 08:56 PM

DIRECTOR

1. Argo – Ben Affleck (3,2)
2. The Avengers – Joss Whedon (3,1)
3. Silver Linings Playbook – David O’Russell (1,2)
=4. The Dark Knight Rises – Christopher Nolan (1,1)
=4. The Impossible – J.A. Bayona (1,1)
6. Les Miserables – Tom Hooper (0,2)

Following on from the script win, Argo takes home another award, this time for directing. Will it be able to top this off with a Best Picture victory at the end of the night?

Posted by: Regina 28th June 2017, 08:58 PM

Yess Ben wub.gif

Posted by: nfjabf 28th June 2017, 08:59 PM

Affleck did a brilliant job injecting so much tension into Argo, a very deserving winner there! I think it's got a good chance of taking Picture later now surely, I was expecting SLP/Les Mis to be more popular but seems not ohmy.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 09:00 PM

Another category in which all the nominations are deserved and I don't think I'd be annoyed at ANY of them winning! I actually can't remember what I voted! :') I THINK it was an Avengers/Dark Knight 1-2.

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 09:02 PM

Another update. Still only one correct LMAO!

1. Les Miserables – Hugh Jackman (3,2)
2. Silver Linings Playbook – Bradley Cooper (3,1)
3. The Impossible – Ewan McGregor (2,0)
4. Ted – Mark Wahlberg (1,2)
5. The Master – Joaquin Phoenix (0,3)

Tbh I'm not huge on Hugh and I'm even less of a fan of Bradley. At least the better one did narrowly win, but justice for Ewan. Also, Harry may once again be voting with something other than his brain heehee.gif tongue.gif

Posted by: nfjabf 28th June 2017, 09:32 PM

That was a really good line-up imo and a great top two! Both perhaps a bit overshadowed by their female co-stars which is a shame as they're both fab in these roles. I'm still shocked Daniel Day-Lewis didn't make it here for Lincoln actually ohmy.gif

Posted by: UltraRedLight 28th June 2017, 09:40 PM

Yasssssss Anne *.* I voted for Samantha but both are beyond fab in Les Mis so glad they are the top two! wub.gif
Exact same situation with Hugh/Bradley as well laugh.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 09:52 PM

#JusticeForEwan indeed!! His performance ALWAYS gets to me. </3 So heartbreaking. He's the actor who can cry the best imo.

Strong list overall though. Hugh was great in 'Les Miserables' and Bradley was excellent and a career turning performance in SLP! I never really rated him as an actor until that performance!

Faye Dunaway done it again ?!? laugh.gif

Posted by: Faye Dunaway 28th June 2017, 10:02 PM

Guys, sorry, this is a honest mistake.

Thankfully this is the only category where the winner has been affected.

I just noticed that in the PM where blacksquare sent his votes, some were like

QUOTE
01 insert vote here
02 insert vote here
but others were like

QUOTE
02 insert vote here
01 insert vote here

I just assumed the top one was the first preference each time as that is the way everyone else formatted.

Many apologies to Hugh, but as it turns out he was only blacksquare's second choice.. :')

Handled with grace and dignity, Faye!!1

Congratulations Bradley cheer.gif

ACTRESS

1. The Hunger Games – Jennifer Lawrence (4,1)
2. Zero Dark Thirty – Jessica Chastain (3,1)
3. Silver Linings Playbook – Jennifer Lawrence (1,4)
4. The Impossible – Naomi Watts (1,1)
5. The Muppets – Amy Adams (0,2)

Another acting win for The Hunger Games, yasss Jennifer wub.gif Three people had a double J-Law top 2, all favouring Hunger Games out of the two

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 10:29 PM

No.

I love her. But NO.

Omg.

Posted by: Regina 28th June 2017, 10:32 PM

NO f*** OFF BJ JENNIFER IS SHIT.

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2017, 10:34 PM

'The Muppets' isn't exactly Amy's best role either. laugh.gif

I've not seen 'Zero Dark Thirty' and it's on my to watch list! Looking forward to it. I like Jessica a lot! But I think my votes went for Jennifer (SLP) and Naomi!

Posted by: UltraRedLight 28th June 2017, 10:34 PM

YASSSSSSS JENNIFER AT LAST!!!!!!! So happy for The Hunger Games as well, as good as she was in SLP I loved her even more in THG wub.gif

Boo. I wish that in five minutes I could waltz back and declare that The Hunger Games is the actual winner but alas, the superheroes are definitely the winners of the final and most prestigious award of the night.

Posted by: UltraRedLight 28th June 2017, 10:44 PM

ffs I knew it would win ugh!!

I genuinely love it and it is one of my favourite superhero movies but there was so much better in that category!!

At least the acting winners (bar one) were fab this month! <3
