Oh wow, what a great top five! Amazing that Fljótavík is 4th after it had a few DNQ predictions! I didn't understand that at all as it's so good. Amazing victory for Kath, over 100 points clear, and here I was thinking it would be a close month - although it did feel like the most likely winner to me. Nice smash for Hendinia there too, and Terra top five with a beauty <3

Great to see all of Singerpurear, Rolloland and Tartford top 10, even though I didn't vote for the former, it was very different and I appreciated it in the mix. The Bimini song definitely sounded like a top ten when I first heard it, so I'm glad that happened.

11th! Wow, well even though it had a load of top ten predictions today, before I saw those I thought I'd be lucky to get top 25 but there are obviously more metal fans here than I anticipated. And very happy to get six top 20s in a row. Intrigued to see the current YTD standings!

Cumulonimbia seems to be the big shock down there in 28th, seems there's always a pop song like that now that is vastly overpredicted. To me it felt a little too much like 'classic early 2010s BJSC' to contend, but I didn't expect to see it that far down, shame.

Owl City bottom ten Jade's deserved far better too!

Jeez, 100 point lead! Many congrats Kath, been long, long overdue since your comeback. I do wish it could've been last month's entry getting this treatment, but I gave this one points too so can't really complain!

Oops I slipped back just a tad in the end, but that's all good as that's the first time I've finished 5th *.* Thank you all very much, I didn't expect this to do so well at all even though I did know a few liked it. It seemed a little more well-known than expected, but I hope a few of you made a good discovery out of it (and I learned Emma Bunton covered it this contest...!!).

Pleased to see Hendinia still put in a very good performance as that was the biggest grower of the contest for me, I loved the storytelling in the lyrics. Fljotavik, Rolloland and Botanikka in the top 10 too is wonderful to see.

Only thing not so great is seeing both of my top 2 in the 30s :'( I guess seeing them here at all is good though. The bottom 2 are both very undeserved as well.

Congrats Kath for fiiiiinally getting a second winner definitely immediately up there with your best ever entries for me (if not the best?) and was a pretty easy 18 for me! Just realised this is the 4th time in a row that my 18 has finished in the top 2 overall (Levellers and Billx coming 2nd, Nyteout and Snow Strippers winning). This win is way overdue with how many top 10s you've had since your comeback, many of which were more than worthy of the win, but doing it with style when it eventually happened with that absolute landslide hope you have your Nokia ready if you will be up for hosting again ~

I did see the spoilers for the semi-finals when helping to set up the results and from that I was about 90% sure we were coming for a Hendinia landslide - as you can see above they absolutely dominated semi 2 and there were a lot of pop countries in semi 1! Meanwhile Kathaldazia only came 4th in semi 1 but just goes to show you can never trust the semi results even when they appear this clear cut. Still, glad to see Dani coming 2nd as it is a great pop song, though a small part of me is kind of glad it didn't win purely because it was a little cheeky of Rob to snoop in with it after me posting in the mod forum that I expect someone to send it after its recent PJSC win ddd. On that note, anyone who tries to confirm Moyka again next month, you are going straight to the gulag.

FLJ and Terra Avium were very close for my 1 pointer and turns out that they would have finished the other way round if I'd ranked them the other way round myself but nice to see them both in the top 5, I'm not surprised at FLJ doing so well but Terra Avium's really doesn't sound like such a big hit to me! Excellent to see Singerpurear, Bøtanikkä and Rolloland all in the top 10 as well though justice for The Comet Is Coming, I am very curious about the gulf between that DNQing last month and Melt Yourself Down being top 10 this time when they seem to me like they should have near identical appeal!

Decent result for Aeroche (deserved top 10 but it outperformed its semi-final result which I thought was shockingly low!) + Dobago in the top 20 is also nice. A few too many of my votes in the lower half for my liking though, Aesthetica, Bronzil, Utopia and Jadakissnia in particular all deserved a lot better :'( argh at the latter almost being last - shielded from the wooden spoon by East Rukahavian who qualified on a tiebreak and because of Republic of Adonia's deduction gah. (Glad that they had that stroke of luck for their anniversary entry, even though I didn't vote for it it would have been a shame for it to not make the final at all). Meanwhile it was Utopia who won that cruel 3 way tiebreak with TARO Bellamia and Ultraviolenceland - that was my 15 so I'm not gonna complain but still hurts a bit to have lost one of TARO Bellamia's best entries on that margin.

Me going 39-35-27-22 so far this year, gradually increasing but still 4 straight entries qualifying and finishing bottom half - I'm glad this has ended up as my biggest hit of the year to date (that's what I was going for!) but I did kind of hope it might be by a bigger margin, 6 more attempts to keep up my streak of getting at least one top 10 per year Got a pretty good number of voters anyway, thanks all once again :3

And thanks Yobnedor for hosting, apols you didn't have the fun of having your own song in the final

I think this final has been the strongest one since Yobnedorica debuted to be honest so I know I would have had the wooden spoon even if I had have scraped through the semis!

I don’t put commiserations in my votes but there were definitely a few countries who only just missed out for me. Often times, I struggle to get 15 favourites

I voted for six of the top ten which is unusual for me! I don’t usually like the favourites!

Well I'll take 25th considering I was lucky to get through looking at those semi results.

Great to see some really strong songs finish inside the top 10. Hendinia was my 10 in the semi but the strength of the final pushed it down a bit but I still really loved it and great to see them top 3 as well as St Burbia which was a bop.

I echo the Depeche Mode deserve better than last comments even if it wasn't better than 'Never Let Me Down' personally.

I'll take finishing 24th! Glad to see me do better with more polarising sounds. I wasn't particularly sure how well it would be received but gabber gabber hey!! is such a rare catchy banger, and given my poor track record with arguably "safer" pop songs, I opted for this rather than HYRA's song (posted on my national thread)... I was pretty sure I'd flop again with something a bit too "appeasing". Thanks for 6 medal votes!

Great to see Kath finally winning after so long! I wasn't particularly fond of the top 5 though St. Burbia was a great discovery. This final was not really up there for me, compared to the previous editions, and there was a terribly high number of entries robbed in the semis. I'd love to see Lotunia and RdA higher, and certainly both Eastovka and Pupok were robbed.

I'm doubting my next entry a lot of times but I think I'll give this one a go. I'm pretty sure I'll DNQ with this one because it's a ballad in a foreign language, but I really love this as it's one of the best from that region and the composition and instrumentation are amazing. If I were to finish dead last with this, then so be it!

Thanks James for hosting! I enjoyed the Animal Crossing theme and I couldn't wait to see a Kath-hosted contest!

i wrote two versions of my vote, I was on a bit of a gnarly 'comedic' (let's just say allegedly satirical) writing tone, so in my appreciation of your hosting Yobnedor (which was very well done!) I must also include thanking you for dealing with my whims.

Congrats Kath, that 101-point winning margin has to be the biggest in a while unless I'm forgetting something obvious!

As for my faves, happiest to see my 18 (Ojnoj) finish top 20 after originally being bottom 2! So glad it turned out to have pretty strong appeal, and finally some justice for Chappell Roan's previous entry DNQing. My 15 and 13 both bottom 10 but 150 points each is a bit more than I feared the way the results were going. I really thought 'Afterlife' was among the strongest pop entries so I'm pretty baffled at that one. Also, I have to say an amazing result for Wholune, even though it was very instant for me I never would've predicted it ranking high for so many others, but very pleased that it did!

And yay for 2/3 of the Harmonica recycles making the top 20, I figured Sophie and The Aces both had a good chance of doing so. I figured Voice Of The Beehive might struggle a bit in comparison, I guess 33rd is still decent but still deserved better.

Big thanks to Jamesy for hosting! Needless to say I loved the Animal Crossing theme and reminiscing over my favorite characters. Even with all of that it was still a pretty simple but solid hosting effort overall. Hopefully we can all return to Yobnedorica in the future

Obvs I’m ecstatic that George made 4th, the unexpected hits are always the most rewarding ones It also made me realise that it feels like a very long time since we last had a top 5 hit unless I’m forgetting something.


Also… Voice of the Beehive were robbed. It’s a great pop song but sadly I think that the low quality audio may have hampered it quite a lot. I love the track and even I thought that it sounded awful after what had come before it.

I already made peace that a win wasn't going to come again after what happened with Eliza Rose last year. Kathaldazia last won in 2009 which was 14 years ago so this feels quite surreal and means a lot to me!

I initially confirmed a techno track, but came across Under Your Spell quite last minute on dameeeela's (a very tasteful female DJ) Spotify playlist and thought "OK this slaps", then went and looked for the music video, and after seeing that I was SOLD

Amazing to see George Clanton so high! Gorgeous track. I was surprised it was being so underestimated. Also yay for Botanikka (a great throwback) and Singerpurear in the top 10. My fave Singerpurear entry to date - I heard the song before although it didn't click at the time but now I LOVE it

Congratulations Kath and with a 101 point lead too my 18 pointer did THAT! (Feels good!) Also delighted to see Hendinia hold 2nd, with overall gold and silver matching my own. No way did East Ruk deserve to finish last, but 111 points seems a high score with which to do so.

I'm OK with 32nd, it's my lowest final placing yet and 17 voters is my fewest yet, but over half of those in double figures and 5 medals is great, several commiserations too and only 20 points off what would have been a PB of 22nd. Looks like I was in the right semi with 9th, thanks to everyone who voted Sølv there too!

Thank you again Yobnedor for running the show, I know little about Animal Crossing but introducing those characters in the threads helped remind us all there was a contest going on!

Pretty good top 10, I thought, and huge thanks to everyone who voted for the fabulous Jungle, faves of mine for 9 years now but they never seem to get a commercial breakthrough. Thanks esp to the Gold voters (Wholune, East Rukahavian), silvers (Kath, Pestolia) and bronzes (AH, Bre, Greenfroze) but also everyone else! That's our 3rd 7th slot and 8th top 10, though we could have grabbed that elusive number 8 if we'd given one more point to Tartford

The law of diminishing returns strikes the Empire. As Dandy says, the audio quality may have hampered its impact. I didn't think it would underperform Magnetic Fields.

Hoorah, a 6th Top 10!!! And four 18s too - thank you all! I was quietly confident in Rodeo doing well. The few previous times I was convinced I'd get a big hit, I always flopped hard, so this is indeed a first for me.

Great to see a Kathaldazia win, took me a few listens to properly get that one but ended up scoring well with me and well deserved after so many incredible entries in the last two years Great to see my 18 pointer in the top 5 too

38th slightly disappointing for Slow Crush, but 131 points does feel like a very good score for being that low down so I'll take it. I did think I was in a bit more dodgy semi than I'd have ideally liked for it, so not surprised I qualified so narrowly!

Incredible to see Snow Strippers bang out an emphatic win here - slayy Kath!! The best winner for ages for me (maybe since Confidence Man?) and a very long overdue second win for Kath, esp since there have been a lot of recent Top 5 finishes and a very diverse and inspired set of enjoyable entries over the past few years. I've been listening to the new EP they just put out and it's rly strong throughout- v impressive and unique soundscape.

Great also to see Mono and George Clanton in the Top 5. <3 A surprisingly strong match-up between my votes and the final result which is always very pleasing to see.

The good ol' days of 2011 are back *.* Just checked and 2014 was the last time I strung together six top 20s in a row.

It seemed a lot easier in 2011 to manage a run of decent results, when you could send Scandipop with glistening production or a big chorus and practically guarantee at least a top 10 finish. Nowadays it seems the exact opposite approach - don't stick to a formula, take risks - works better for me.

Top 10 *.* Just the one DNQ getting me down so far. Although I did have two top 3 hits at the beginning of last year and then the latter half of the year was a disaster with 4 DNQs, I can't recall any updates being posted so I couldn't track my progress, but I'm guessing I probably ended up descending quite a bit as the year went on to lowest position in some time due to that second half, so I'll just be hoping that doesn't happen this time!
