1. JaySic, TBR & Jawny Sparklez - Top Of The World (#138)

"Can you feel the THUNDER?? JaySic, TBR & Jawny Sparkles have unleashed a storm with "Top of the World" which blends big room, progressive house, and rock elements all into one for this powerful anthem!"
-Intensity Recordings-

Meet the artists:

JaySic:

"JaySic is a mystical producer from the cold lands of Lapland. He is bringing fresh sounds to the scene with mystical energy. Be sure to be amazed!"
-Facebook bio-

TBR:

"TBR has just begun his career as DJ and Producer, but has quickly developed incredible producing and mixing skills receiving massive support from artists such as W&W, Hardwell, Maurice West, Blasterjaxx, SaberZ, Jaxx & Vega, Club Banditz, and many more. TBR is the youngest producer with 14 years old signed in Hardwell’s label imprint Revealed Recordings. This young talent is on the road to become one of the most recognized artists in the scene where his music will be heard all over the world."
-Spotify-

Jawny Sparklez:

"If you made it this far, you might as well keep reading. WHAT IS UP! Here's a couple words in third person for cinematic effect. Jawny Sparklez is a Canadian singer/songwriter who stars as the front man of the hard rock band Cowboy Meets Pirate. His first ever EDM release was 'Reminisce' by Domeno in which Jawny sang and wrote the melody for. What's with the sudden style change you ask? Well he says: 'I will always be a rocker at heart but I'll sing or write any style. If the music is good and you want to listen to it, does it matter what genre it is?" Also, if you read all that.. Congrats you're probably my biggest fan. Check me out on Instagram. Love ya. - Jawny Sparklez + Third Person Jawny."
-Spotify-

Comments
"This, without a doubt, becomes one of my biggest big room house discoveries this year. A solid big room melody combined with a rock 'n roll vocal."
-Cow Cow-

"After a DNQ by the previous big room entry "Husman - Who You Are" by East Rukahavian on #137, Eastovka decides to declare a new country and tries to bring big room house back to the BJSC Finals. Can they reach The Finals though?"
-Eastovka-

Welcome again! I’m looking forward to hearing this entry in full, hope it can qualify! We aren’t in the same Semi but I’ll be supporting you from across the pond! happy.gif

Welcome to the contest, from Jadakissnia! hi.gif

Oh, I thought the country name was going to have something to do with cows! cow.png

Posted by: Cow Cow 23rd September 2021, 05:46 AM

Thanks to Zanmantony, Jadakissnia, and Buzzjack Mountain for the nice responses!

We've decided not to put anything related to Cow or Moo on our country's name to avoid being sued for plagiarism by our predecessor, Cowtermont. sleep.gif
JK, I prefer a generic name to a flashy one laugh.gif

Posted by: Cow Cow 28th September 2021, 11:54 PM

WHAT'S NEXT?

2. Ghost Stories (D-Block & S-te-Fan and Evelyn Bakker) - Fallen Souls (#139)

D-Block & S-te-Fan’s act ‘Ghost Stories’ has taken off at lightning speed! Since their first release “Angels and Demons” in 2017, they have made a statement on the Hardstyle scene with their diverse and exciting approach, as well as captivating music that thrills all music lovers!
Ghost Stories are back again with “Fallen Souls”, which generated huge traction after being teased on their social media recently. You can expect nothing less than a larger-than-life melody and atmosphere, striking vocals and a typically mysterious ‘Ghost Stories’ narrative.

-Scantraxx-

Meet the artists:

Ghost Stories

“Ghost Stories is the live act that emerged from the duo D-Block & S-te-Fan and the vocalist Evelyn Bakker, D-Block's sister. From their first appearance at Reverze 2019 they've been breaking boundaries in setting the bar for what a live act is! Known from tracks like "Enter Your Mind", "Lake Of Fire" and many more, they are bringing the spooky vibes into Hardstyle.”
-Scantraxx-

Comments:
"I actually had a plan to submit another track that was “unexpected.” But, because this BJSC’s theme is halloween / spooky, I wanted to bring something special too. I've decided to use one of my ace cards and delay my planned track. This is Fallen Souls by Ghost Stories!

P.S. the actual duration is 3,5 minutes. The music video used only one drop."

-Cow Cow-

"We’ve discovered 3 hardstyle tracks that have made it to the finals. Unfortunately, those entries used euphoric kicks (bong bong), while our entry is more rawphoric (tok tok). Despite having great melodies, this entry is way noisier than our previous one. It might be a Top 10 song at Q-dance 2019, but it could also be our next BJSC DNQ."
-Eastovka-

Posted by: Dobbo. 20th October 2021, 03:02 PM

This is brilliant, always partial to some hardstyle and it seldom gets sent here. 2/2 from you so far!

3. Yo Hitoto, MASA, Masaaki Honma - SHENGLU -CIRCUIT- / SEIRO -CIRCUIT- (#140)

"#DYNASTYWARRIORS fans... we have something special for you.
To celebrate the series' 20th Anniversary, over 700 music tracks are available to listen to now on select streaming services! What soundtrack will you listen to first?"

-KOEI Tecmo Europe, 2020-

Meet the artists:

Yo Hitoto:

“Only slightly older than many J-Pop singers, Yo Hitoto has largely kept to a slightly less manufactured, singer/songwriter aesthetic while simultaneously riding the same charts as those J-Pop singers. Finishing a university degree before delving fully into music, Hitoto got her start, as many did, though voice acting. Her stint in voice acting was admittedly brief, but provided exposure to larger arenas. Her 2003 debut single, "Morai Naki," punched into the Oricon charts at number four, but then stayed on the charts for a full 68 weeks and paved the way for her first full-length album, Tsukitenshin. Tsukitenshin reached number four on the album charts as well, and additionally exposed a Taiwanese side (Hitoto being half Taiwanese) of her music, enabling a reach to an additional contingent of fans. A similar pattern was shown with her following albums, each peaking quickly in the Oricon Top Five, but holding staying power for full seasons. This mark was broken only by her 2006 greatest-hits album Bestyo (with only three previous albums in her discography), which found its way to an Oricon number two and sold 700,000 copies, a huge mark with Japan's limited population and J-Pop's short attention span. After a love scandal involving composer/keyboard player Kobayashi Takeshi, Hitoto returned with a new album, 2008's Key, which debuted at number three but quickly tailed off as time progressed. ~ Adam Greenberg, Rovi”
-Spotify-

MASA:

"MASA (佐々木 優嘉, Sasaki Masayoshi, born February 19 in Kyushu) is a Japanese music composer and manager of the sound department. Like Masato Koike, he is also a sound director for the company."
-KOEI Wiki-
"If you know Theme of Lu Bu, he's one of the producers."
-Cow Cow-

Masaaki Honma:
(N/A)
"Masaaki Honma (本間 雅明, Honma Masaaki) is a Japanese music composer and arranger affiliated with Koei's sound division."
-KOEI Wiki-

Comments
"I don’t know much about Mandarin songs, except this legendary track. Dynasty Warriors 3-5 was the game the name https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YtuoUUiFuc existed. Anyway if you like it, don’t forget to vote."
-Cow Cow-

"We're taking a lot of risk right now. Some might expected we would send another festival song, like big room house or hard dance.
A chill-jazzy Mandarin song reaching the finals would be a huge shock for us. laugh.gif"

-Eastovka-

Posted by: Cow Cow 23rd November 2021, 11:52 PM

WHAT'S NEXT?

Not really a surprise to see Eastovka getting another DNQ.
We'll be sending a formula-ish entry next time! No big room house, no hardstyle, no Mandarin. laugh.gif

"With a powerful range and a mesmerising voice, Aina Abdul is truly a force to be reckoned with in the Malaysian pop scene."
-Spotify Malaysia-

Meet the artist:

Aina Abdul:

“Aina Abdul is no stranger to the Malaysian music scene . Fondly known as Aina Mentor, the title derived from the national prime reality television singing competition 'Mentor Legend' which she got selected to participate in 2014. She came into the limelight after becoming the first runner-up of the show under the apprenticeship of Malaysia’s Queen of Rock , Ella.

In the same year, she later surprised Malaysia and the world as she rose to win the Senior Grand Vocalist Champion’s title in the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

WHAT'S NEXT?

We're so disappointed our electronic entry failed to reach the final once again. For our next 4 contests, Eastovka has decided NOT to invest our entries on dance producers, nono.gif but on singers and bands. Don't worry because we won't send acts that have ever competed at BJSC, so our upcoming entries will remain unpredictable.

Here are our votes in the final:

18 Dobago ○ ascendant vierge - Influenceur
15 Land of DW ○ Tardigrade Inferno - We Are Number One
13 Aeroche ○ AmyElle - Need You Now

12 Altyr Muunilinst ○ Leony - Remedy
11 Bøtanikkä ○ Leila K - Open Sesame
10 Beaverdonia ○ ODESZA - The Last Goodbye (feat. Bettye LaVette)

4 Jadakissnia ○ Acid Fader - Keelhauling
3 Harmonica ○ The Rocket Summer - Same Air

"As we have told you before, we won't be sending any dance music for the next 4 contests. We feel like we keep wasting our time on easy DNQ entries. We understand this song contains lyrics with Indonesian, specifically Papuan language, but I hope it won't affect you pretty much. If you like our current entry, please vote for Eastovka!"

I feel bad, it really should have been you who entered ABDA into BJSC, I stole it! I never qualified either which was sad.

But this sounds like it has real potential so I’m glad we are in the same semi final this time (even if my entry is not much for you haha).

7. Neck Deep - Wish You Were Here (CXLIV)

“If I picture it now, it don't seem so bad
Either way, I still wish you were here

Our #AsiaPop40 Alternative Choice track is "Wish You Were Here" by Neck Deep!”

-Asia Pop 40 on Twitter, 2022-

Meet the artists:

Neck Deep:

"On the heels of the trio of records that turned them from underground heroes to breakout stars, All Distortions Are Intentional - out July 24th, 2020 - is the biggest and boldest step yet in the creative evolution of Neck Deep. An immersive experience from start to finish, Neck Deep’s fourth album is both a conceptual journey and straight-ahead banger, track after track. It’s polished yet raw, layered but catchy as hell. It’s a shoot-for-the-stars sonic reckoning, further proving this band’s instinctual DIY ethos has paid off once again.

ADAI marks an epiphany of true self-belief for its creators: “Everyone wants to be seen as good at what they do, as creative, interesting, ambitious,” Ben asserts; “That’s what we wanted, for people to see that we are more than just some guys in a band. We truly lived and breathed this album, and wove unique perspectives, storytelling, and ideas into its fabric. We have crafted a sound that is ours, it is totally, unapologetically Neck Deep.” The “biggest band you’ve never heard of” has stepped onto the world stage, but it won’t be long before that adage is a distant memory."

Another not really surprising result as we get the 6th DNQ in our first 7 contests. Well, at least we've tried with an actual hit. laugh.gif

Sad news comes from our current entry, Neck Deep, as the drummer Dani Washington/Abasi announces that he is leaving the band.

Eastovka would like to wish Dani good lucks for the future.

8. Kohta Imafuku - Orihime (BJSC 145)

“Abora Skies is delighted to present a brand-new release by Japanese talent Kohta Imafuku, who delivers a sublime piece titled 'Orihime'.

This track is pure magic! Beautiful piano touches fused with angelic pads and energetic arps. The breakdown includes smooth flute and a cello symphony blended with epic background pads. These elements lead to legendary melodies and a majestic drop.

The release also includes a wondrous cinematic Orchestral Mix, based on the breakdown of the trance version.”

Just wanted to come in and hype this, by far your best ever entry for me with the way it builds and the different mood and atmosphere evoked by the different parts of the track, it's so euphoric.

I firmly believe the trance curse does not exist, we just had a few trance entries in a row that didn't connect much with people, making it appear that this was actually a thing. Generic trance that follows an obvious template will still underperform but I don't see any reason that something as uplifting and emotional, in distinct sonic parts like this, should do. Congrats on getting to the final and I hope you sweep into the top 15 or higher to quash this trance curse thing!

Posted by: Dobbo. 6th June 2022, 11:05 AM

Agreed, it just has to be slightly "leftfield" trance, look at Chariot - Sky Wheel which managed second in the height of the trance curse era!

This is a quite brilliant piece of music.

I'm definitely enjoying this a lot more than other recent trance entries as well so yeah maybe people just decided to stop sending good trance songs for a while laugh.gif

Glad this got you another qualifier and thinking it should very easily be your biggest hit to date now.

9. Bunga Bangsa - Prahara Rusaking Jagad (#146)

”Prahara Rusaking Jagad” tells a story about the destruction of earth because of human activity that exploits earth too much for personal purposes without considering the long term effects.
-Bunga Bangsa’s YouTube, raw translation-

Meet the artists:

Bunga Bangsa

“As an Indonesian who loves her country, I have a mission to conserve Indonesian traditional culture, language, and music. I still use Javanese as lyrics of my new single. Furthermore, some Indonesian traditional instruments such as gamelan, seruling, kecapi, and kendang are wrapped harmonically inside its composition alongside the modern sound of progressive metal.”
-Bunga Bangsa’s YouTube, raw translation-

Comments:
"Now we know that the trance curse doesn’t exist anymore. The only thing that exists right now is the Indonesian entry curse. Several recent Indonesian entries such as Weird Genius, ABDA, Moona Hoshinova, and Nowela Mikhelia, all of them failed to qualify to the finals. We are way too experimental this time by sending a Javanese-gamelan-progressive metal music, but we are hoping that this could break the curse."

10. Mayumi Itsuwa - Kokoro no Tomo (BJSC 147)

No articles

Meet the artist:

Mayumi Itsuwa:

"Mayumi Itsuwa (五輪 真弓, Itsuwa Mayumi) is a Japanese vocalist, composer, lyricist, and keyboardist who made her debut in 1972.

Her first studio album entitled Shoujo was recorded in Los Angeles, produced by Grammy Award winner John Fischbach, with distinguished musicians such as David Campbell, Carole King and Charles Larkey who was King's husband at that time. Owing to her introspective compositions, Itsuwa was often nicknamed "Japanese Carole King", along with other Japanese singer-songwriters like Yumi Matsutoya (who had worked under her birth name "Yumi Arai" during the mid-1970s) and Minako Yoshida.

Itsuwa gained moderate success on the Japanese albums chart in her early career, and received massive popularity and acclaim through the single "Koibito yo" released in 1980. The song topped Japan's Oricon chart for three consecutive weeks, and won the 22nd Japan Record Award for "Gold Prize" in the same year. It was covered by the country's legendary singers including Hibari Misora and Noriko Awaya in later years, and became a signature song for Itsuwa. In 1981 her song "Revival" also became a very well recognized hit.

After "Koibito yo" became a hit, Itsuwa gained popularity also in non-Japanese Asian countries during the 1980s.

In Indonesia, "Kokoro No Tomo", "Amayadori" and "Rebaibaru" become the most popular songs ever released by her. In 2006, Mayumi Itsuwa and Delon Thamrin recorded an Indonesian and Japanese version of the song. This was later included on the 2006 compilation album "Duet Love Songs". Many of her songs would fall into the musical genre of torch songs because they often describe the lingering memory of past loves."

"Persephonia once said, "SE Asian TikTok seems pretty disconnected from the entire world at some point."

What if I told you that we have been disconnected since the 1980s? My next entry is one of the proof. Released in 1979 as one of the album tracks, some articles said that this Itsuwa-senpai song wasn’t even popular in Japan! “We knew Mayumi Itsuwa for her single “Koibito Yo”, but we didn't know about “Kokoro no Tomo,” they said.

Regardless, it is a timeless classic in my homeland. It is always introduced during our high school time. It was also the 2nd Japanese song that became popular here after “Sukiyaki (Ue o Muite Arukou)”, which is of course 100x more popular around the world. We're sending our 10th entry for fun purposes only. Reaching the final is just a bonus. If you like it, don't forget to vote for Eastovka!"

12. Sefa, D-Block & S-te-Fan - Infinity (BJSC 149)

”Frenchcore is a subgenre of old school gabber. This style differs from the others in that it has the fastest tempo, usually above 190-250 BPM . It is a style famous for being very aggressive and energetic and that is gaining more and more space in the mainstream scene.

And one of the biggest names in the genre today is the talented 21-year-old DJ and producer Sefa Jeroen Vlaarkamp, better known only by the stage name Sefa. He is known for mixing classical music and Frenchcore, resulting in true masterpieces for lovers of the style. Having officially released his first track aged just 14 on the Peacock Records label, he has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as great friend and mentor Dr. Peacock , Mr. Ivex , Phuture Noize, and D-Sturb.

And this time it was time to join forces with the biggest hardstyle duo today: D-Block & S-te-Fan, in which no introduction is needed. “Infinity” mixes the best of both worlds: frenchcore kicks with hardstyle synths and vocals from Evelyn Bakker, the sister of Diederik (D-Block).

-Wonderland In Rave-

Meet the artists:

Sefa:

Sefa Vlaarkamp, known to the world simply by his artist name Sefa, is currently without a doubt the fastest rising act within the Hard Dance scene. By the time he was 19 years old, he had already produced the anthem for the biggest festival in his genre and already headlined a seemingly nonstop series of international shows for several years. As his audiences rapidly grew in size, organizations had to move him to their biggest stages as their smaller stages and tents weren’t big enough to hold all the fans who wanted to see him play.

After the unimaginable success of his first album “Leven is Lijden”, Sefa’s collaboration with D-Sturb “Nothing Like The Oldschool” became a viral hit within the scene. It broke down the barriers between different styles of Hard Dance, setting a precedent for the future of the genre. Now, with all the tools at his fingertips to further define and develop his style, Sefa is ready to take his career to the next level, changing the world one insanely energetic performance at a time.

-Spotify-

D-Block & S-te-Fan:

For over 15 years D-Block & S-te-Fan has been a game changing duo in hard dance history. Currently operating stronger than ever whilst reviving their love for the harder styles, they are yet again on top of the scene. After creating landmarks in Hardstyle with albums like “Music Made Addictz” and “Rockin your mind”, they re - discovered their love and passion for the harder styles in 2017 with the hit release of the album “Antidote”.

Since then, every song has been getting better and better, and by the sound of Angels & Demons, Twilight Zone and Ghost Stories they found a unique way to combine Melodies with Energy. With their celebration of 15 years of Hardstyle and their new formed liveact Ghost Stories there is a lot more in store for many years to come. WE DON’T STOP!.

Well… It’s been in my personal chart for 30+ weeks, so there is no reason why I should not send this. This is the first time I’m recycling an act and the second time I'm sending a 200 BPM song. Hopefully, this could go to the final knowing that Sefa was quite a successful entry at Club Bizarre."

Happy that you enjoy this one. I did like the anti-climax twist too when they premiered the song for the first time during one of Sefa's sets last year.
I must agree with you that CB is completely different from BJSC. Re-Style got only 22 points with "One Last Dance" and I thought I was just sending something wasn't special like "Get It Crackin". Now, I'm only hoping I get more than just 22 pts.

”We never get tired of sending stuff that Buzzjack might’ve never heard. For the first time, we are sending an Indonesian pop song, which was by another Indonesian Idol finalist Lyodra. It is a cover of a classic Indonesian song by a legendary Indonesian pop singer Titi DJ. It has been popping in our TikTok radar recently and we think it deserves a little bit of recognition here.

Both music video and lyric video contain English subtitle, in case anyone needed it. We hope you enjoy our latest entry by voting for us at BJSC 150!"

Eastovka seem to be trying something different this month, very different from them and I hope pop bloc approves!

Thanks for the appreciation, Zanmatony. We're still hoping to qualify, but with more countries competing and us not sending dancepop, Eastovka likely won't qualify. sleep.gif

Announcement:

First, I would like to thank all of everyone who have given supports to Eastovka's last 5 entries, especially for Whole Again and Sability, which resulted in reaching finals. Second, I would like to announce that I decide to go on hiatus for an undecided amount of time after next BJSC, so #155 would be my last one for a while. That doesn't mean that I won't be participating in other contests as I'm still interested in the upcoming PFSC and CB!

The next time I'm not participating, I would still be giving a listen to the 30-second Spotify preview and casting my support to any country that sends something that interests me.

Thank you for the attention and see you in the next contest!

”To end our participation streak, I am sending Malay pop by an Indonesian legendary band Wali, which is definitely new to Buzzjack. It was one of the songs that got massively played back in those days I had to access internet through a cyber cafe. "Yank" was one of the songs that went popular during the pandemic among the guitarist because of its guitar solo part.

Wali sounds completely unknown in the Eurovision radar, except the 2001 and 2006 Malta representation Fabrizio Faniello, for 3 of Wali songs were covered by him: I No Can Do (Cari Jodoh); My Heart Is Asking You (Baik-Baik Sayang); I Will Stand By You (Aku Bukan Bang Toyib).

If you somehow like it, please cast your votes at BJSC 155!"

20. LONGMAN - spiral (BJSC 159)

”Hiroya Hirai, who was in charge of the music, said that he imagined the scene depicted in the climax of the 23rd episode of the first season, in which Rudeus Greyrat stands up and walks away after being abandoned by Eris, and created the song so that it could flow there. He was influenced by the previous themes composed by Yuiko Ōhara in the first season. After composing the song, the band received a call from Ohara herself who was surprised by "Spiral". At first Hirai was thinking of submitting two songs, but in the end he ended up creating six songs, brushing up on three of them, narrowing it down to two, and submitting it. That is why he chose "spiral." Hirai was on tour and had a tight schedule while making this, but it was exciting for him. It was a period where the band were able to produce such good songs that even the five songs that were rejected made us wish we could release them in a different form. Besides the feelings of Rudeus, Hirai wanted to generalise hikikomori* and relate to them through the lyrics. Some phrases like "The map I drew" were based on his own worldview.”
-Wikipedia, as reported by animate Times-

*Hikikomori (Japanese: ひきこもり or 引きこもり、 lit. "pulling inward, being confined"), also known as severe social withdrawal, is total withdrawal from society and seeking extreme degrees of social isolation and confinement.

”LONGMAN is a 3-piece melodic pop-punk band from Ehime Prefecture, consisting of the vocalist and bassist Yoriki Sawa, guitarist and vocalist Hirai Hiroya, and drummer Horikawa Yuki. They were formed in 2012 from a music circle at Matsuyama University. The name of their group was taken from the Longman English-Japanese Dictionary.

LONGMAN is pretty well known for their anime soundtracks for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Love All Play, and Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation.”

”After listening to it at least 12 times in the anime Mushoku Tensei, I’ve realised that this song is very deep for me. The lyrics hit me a lot, and I almost cried listening to the song while reading the translations, as they are just so relatable. The music video itself also drew on the situations of the main character of the anime before he died and got reincarnated. I believe the song deserves to be in the ‘top 25 all-time anime song conversation’. I was happy I discovered Mushoku Tensei earlier this year, so I could share this 20th entry with you. If you like it, please vote for Eastovka."

21. XiJaro & Pitch with Cari - Time (BJSC 160)

”When it comes to the pure uplifting sound that every trance lover cherishes, Anthony and Xander shine bright. As the dynamic DJ duo, XiJaro and Pitch, they have spent nearly a decade captivating their fans' emotions and enthralling the crowd with their exceptional music. Their partnership represents perfect harmony, as each member brings distinct strengths to the production of their sound. Anthony is virtuoso at creating catchy melodies that resonate deeply with their listeners. On the other hand, Xander excels in mixing and mastering, ensuring their tracks reach their full potential.

Throughout the numerous events held worldwide, Anthony is often found behind the decks, passionately delivering his artistry to the audience. Despite his eyesight and hearing challenges, his performances on stage, marked by his lively dance and infectious smiles, leave a lasting impression on the crowd. This was also one of the reasons why the duo's Twitch channel witnessed a significant surge during the pandemic. It continued to thrive, attracting devoted fans through XiJaro and Pitch's "Open Minds Live" sets.

What began as the Chasing Dreams podcast has now blossomed into a wonderful compilation in collaboration with Black Hole Recordings. This compilation features exclusive tracks by talented artists, with three singles already released. "Chasing Dreams," "Invisible" featuring Adara, and "Heart" with Ava Silver - it becomes a delightful dilemma to pick the finest among them.

Added to the excitement, the much-anticipated fourth single from #ChasingDreams has finally been released. Entitled "Time," this heartfelt track features lovely voice of Cari. It took two years of dedicated effort to craft this musical masterpiece, but the wait was worthwhile. Cari's enchanting vocals and breathtaking lyrics infuse the song with profound emotional depth. "Time" holds deep personal significance for both XiJaro and Pitch, as well as Cari, as it delves into the struggle of coping with the absence of loved ones, while hoping for healing with time.”
-Black Hole Recordings-

Meet the artists:

XiJaro & Pitch:

”XiJaro & Pitch are the trance music producer/DJ duo of Xander van Dommelen and Anthony Reyers. Formed in 2014, they are best known as the musical minds behind dozens of spine-tingling, uplifting releases on some of the most prestigious labels in trance and also as the creators of the weekly show “Open Minds Live”, which is currently taking the Twitch trance community by storm. Most notably their work has already seen them be hand-picked by Armin van Buuren for his famous “A State Of Trance” mix compilation as well as landing them the opportunity to play at the coveted Luminosity Beach Festival.”
-Spotify-

Cari:

”There aren’t many voices that are as recognizable as Cari’s. Collaborating with the most talented producers in electronic dance music (Armin van Buuren, Ruben de Ronde, Giuseppe Ottaviani, RAM, Alexander Popov, Roman Messer, Somna, Steve Allen and many more) Cari has earned her spot on the scene.

When Cari (Carina Meeuwig) was born she was destined to become a musician. As a child, ever since she was tall enough to reach the piano keys, Cari taught herself to play, mostly classical and pop music. Raised in a family with wide musical tastes she discovered house music and later trance music; a new love-for-life was born. She started toying around with several producing programs to create her own tracks on which she wrote lyrics and sang with her characteristic voice. This voice was soon to be discovered by other producers. Cari's first collaboration in 2015 also meant her big breakthrough, with the song called 'Be A Dreamer', together with Denis Kenzo. It was immediately picked up by Armin van Buuren and supported several times in his radio show 'A State Of Trance'. Also it was voted in the 'ASOT top 50' that year. After this, many collaborations followed, giving Cari the opportunity to really develop her style which can best be described as magical melodies with inspiring lyrics and catchy hooks.

One of the landmarks in Cari's career is her collaboration with Armin van Buuren under his 'Rising Star' moniker. In 'The Voice' Cari expresses her love for classical music integrating a choir of harmonic opera- like singing. Together with Armin's full force drop it became an unforgettable record.

Since Cari started out she's definitely here to stay, because there's nothing she enjoys more than to write, produce and perform her music as she continues to move fans across the globe!”

Announcement:

It's that time again. When Eastovka suddenly updated their entry results, there's something happening soon.

Indeed, we'd like to announce our second, and probably more indefinite hiatus after BJSC 165. It's not that we are blatantly upset with our recent results, but yes, it's one of our minor reasons, we just didn't feel connected with the recent contests.

However, we've actually been planning this hiatus since last month. My main reason is that this year might be the busiest time for me at college. Other reasons would be that I haven't completed my 2023 EOY, made another side content at YouTube, and I also wanted to spend my time in watching anime series and reading manga comics more.

Similar to our first hiatus, we'd still interested in joining spin-offs and Cow might still be participating at forum contests as neither of them have any 1-contest ban for not voting.

Finally, thanks to everyone voting to our 2024 entries so far, and I really appreciate everyone who helped us getting our 2nd Top 10 with Hélène Vogelsinger!

See you at 165!

26. JDX ft. Sarah Maria - Live The Moment (BJSC 165)

”It’s safe to say that ‘Live The Moment’ is one of the most iconic tracks in hardstyle music. 10 years later, during the final minutes of DEDIQATED in the GelreDome, it even has been voted as the number one hardstyle track ever made.”
-HardnewsNL-

Meet the artists:

JDX:
”When it comes to legendary artists with a deep seated history in the Harder Styles, it’s hard to understate the impact of Joshua Dutrieux, aka JDX. Known to most as the creator of the top voted Hardstyle track of all time, Live The Moment with Sarah Maria, JDX has guided and influenced the scene for over a decade, armed with over 40 years of experience making music, producing and DJing under a variety of different aliases - JDX, 567482, DJ Busy, Black Identity and the group Thalamus, in addition to a number of bands over the years.

JDX made music from a young age, trained as a classical musician as a child, later becoming part of a progressive rock band. He discovered house music at the age of 14 when he snuck out of his parents house to visit a party at the Goldfinger in Rosmalen. From that moment on, he was hooked on house music with its signature 4 on the floor rhythm, as opposed to band music at the time. This contrast forever set the tone for his future taste in music and began his adventure through the world of electronic music, leading to being a hardcore DJ, DJ Busy, from 1994 until 1998, when he decided to return to his roots and start a band called Gate."

-JDX’s website-

Sarah Maria:
”I come from Billings, MT. I currently live in Los Angeles, CA and am a hardstyle recording artist. Currently collaborating with JDX. We released our first single "Live the Moment" which debuted at #1 on the hardstyle dance charts."

Comments

”To end our long streak, I’ve decided to send what most people say “Best Hardstyle Song of All-Time”. I haven’t decided my all-time fave one yet, but this one is surely eligible for that category. It was good then when my previous hard dance entry managed to qualify to the final, but it was disappointing as well on the other hand when Joost was disqualified in the contest and skipped in the Top 40.

Hope you guys enjoy this one!"
