Will be some very interesting results, there are some frontrunners but nothing in my mind sounds like a nailed on winner, I guess I'll say Altyr as they usually manage to sneak past with a decent pop song in a close contest.

Would be refreshing though to see either a new winner or someone who hasn't won in a while, if it is a tussle at the top.

Or a double for Summericia!

Okay, we’re getting there!

I feel like we’re in for a not very poppy top 10 this contest, I think maybe there wasn’t a strong enough win sounding one to conquer the votes for that so they’ve been spread, while the strong dance and alternative entries are really resonating with their audience.

Genuinely so happy to see Levellers being a legit contender. I really hope that does hold up and it's not just early voters who loved it (I am a little wary that the SyncTube being so early might mean the taste of the regulars there is a little overrepresented in the early results and it's hard to tell if the love for that song holds up as well outside there x)

Absolutely delighted with second place. I added the song to my BJSC contenders playlist as soon as I head it in December as I thought it might do quite well. However, I never expected it to do as well as this. Many thanks to everyone who voted for it and it shows that a band that has been around for over thirty years can still come up with a great song.

(Also relieved that my nine points to Summericia didn't cost me victory )

GAG! Getting one win is hard enough but two in a ROW... and with such different songs at that, well done Rob! It won't be surprising to hear that I much prefer Thunder but still, a win is a win.

I don't really get... any of the top 3, but god knows we've had about 9 contests in a row of pop winners that Bra and the alt folk don't get, so the tide was bound to turn at some point. It wasn't really the best contest for me, so I guess that's reflective of perhaps the pop songs not being as strong? Hence the switch up in fortune.

Crumbs coming 21st is truly the most confusing underperformance in a LONG TIME though, don't get that at all. Thought it was both a strong pop song AND the sort of thing to have crossover appeal.

I certainly wouldn't have called Black Peppa being so high when I saw it confirmed though, but so happy to see that wound up being so popular, get it bitch

And happy to see that post-freeze 8 voter long snub didn't actually send me tumbling as much as I assumed it was - I'll take 12th, that's actually higher than I'd predicted and keeps my streak, that I only care about, up!

Yassssss, congrats Rob. A very deserved double win, an absolute beauty of an AQ and the only song that, to me, sounded like a winner. Although I wasn't sure if that was just because I loved it myself, but it feels good to give 18 to the winner again. I much prefer it to Thunder!

Second is awesome for Suedeonia and Levellers too, I would have never expected that, even with the great predictions it had.

Many of the favourites did creep into the top ten in the end, but it wasn't to be for pop this time, six non-voters really didn't help their cause but looks like Summericia was far enough out in front that it wouldn't have changed anything. Nice to see Lotunia creep in there, shame it was that low after some winner predictions but I'm happy it made the top 10 all the same.

I'm happy with 18th, it looked as if that was the best it could have done and I expected it to be a lot lower, so thank you for all the support, three straight top 20s is fantastic for us!

Generally great results, I only voted for one of the bottom ten, although liked a few more, and don't think Bhangra deserves to be that low but it really wasn't pop's month on the whole.

Oh wow, congrats again Rob *.* I was not expecting that at all, but that was a massive standout and finally a winner I voted for. I really love the production and lyrics relating to London life, gonna definitely keep it. Suedeonia was fantastic fun as well, would've fit right into the concert I went to when I was away in Ireland, and the rest of the top 5 were commiserations and my 18 so that's a good result!

So good to see a diverse selection of songs do well rather than just pop dominating, let's hope it stays this way! maybe I won't DNQ all the time again Pleased that a lot of my votes did well, Zanmatony and Utopia should really be higher but I guess they both overperformed.

Eek at how close I was to DNQing - how odd to finish higher in the final than the semi-final both for non-top 15 positions - I guess most of our fans must have come from the opposite semi but I can't be bothered to do the math.

aside - I haven't actually seen that 2001 film myself but I also enjoyed it as a hosting theme! I do wonder now if Roba declines to host again who does it pass to next, can't recall off the top of my head who has and hasn't hosted - my guess is Pestolia are next in line??

Happy with 26th on my debut, I wasn't believing the hype of those top 5/10/15 predictions, and it seems like the pop vote slumped across the board in the end. Thank you to the 7 people I didn't shout out who gave me 1-3 points, without them I'd be outside the top 30. Only 32 points returned from the 124 I gave out was much as I expected - my tastes are many and varied but the song worked for me when I first heard it. And I wasn't wrong to be not confident about qualifying - 18th in semi two (joint with Conoria whom I really should have pointed in the final, as "ladies in my crib, something something German" has stuck in my head since voting), I did think it was the more 'indie' semi!

However that's a fantastic top 5, all of which I voted for in the final, including my 18 pointer as runner-up, and congratulations Rob for the double win!

Pestolia and Yobnedorcia top 20 is fab to see too. Especially the latter which I was concerned would stay in the bottom 10 which would be so unjust.

Pleased Flynnonda missed bottom 10 as well, a really lovely song and I already liked his duet with Birdy as well so expected good things already. Wardy missing bottom 10 also is a win. Didn't deserve that despite thinking it'd struggle to qualify in the first place :')
Tartford, Conoria deserved better and I did like Utopias but sadly got swallowed up when I heard the final as did Rich's in the end, sorry!

Congrats to Roba, I can officially finally stop harping on about the streak of winners I've not voted for as this one was comfortably inside my votes The list of countries who've pulled off a double win now seems to be getting a new member almost by clockwork early on in the year, that's now 3 years in a row after FARC and Altyr in 2021 and 2022 respectively! (Albeit Summericia's being split over two calendar years ofc). I really like a lot of Summericia entries but both of your previous winners were ones I wasn't super keen on, truly a nation of two halves so yay for you now having a winner representing the more 'alternative' side of your taste too *.*

Wonderful to see that the love for Levellers was not only a SyncTube echo chamber, it's such a joyous song and puts a big smile on my face every time I hear it - folk music in BJSC at all feels like quite a breath of fresh air let alone seeing it finishing on the podium! Also excellent to see Kathaldazia with another medal too (the wait for another winner continues but remaining competitive, it has to happen this year suuuurely), rounding out a full top 3 of songs I voted for - and it would have been the whole top 5 if not for Elëdan & Skall's deduction but yasss at them still being top 5/10 respectively even after that, justice officially achieved for Mall Grab Those were all the ones I voted for from the top 10 but 'Mad Man' ended up being a late grower enough to snatch a commiseration, Sovarasma and Cumulonimbia's were both ones that I felt like I should have been a much bigger fan of than I was but can't begrudge them their success anyway! A bit of a shame that Jadakissnia ended up falling just short after being pretty high up for a lot of the running scoreboard but still a decent result.

The lower end of the top 20 is actually pretty stacked too - with Fljótavík, Danæviia, FSR Rontvia and Pagasa all up there I voted for a full half of the top 20! It is a little bit of an unfortunate footnote though that these results being more in line with my taste than other recent contests may be explained in large part by the fact that so many pop leaning countries didn't vote whoops (not to mention Hushkanukia and Oslol not even entering) - interesting to see if that trend now holds almost by default again next month I guess! But even with that, Altyr were not tooooo far away from winning in the grand scheme of things so I'm sure we'll still have our share of pop winners to come this year.

Would have liked to see République d'Áskorza and especially Bhangra doing a little better - very sorry David but this is even further confirmation that me liking a pop song is a kiss of death, the collective taste of the pop bloc just gets more and more mystifying to me over time ~ Oh well DONE Klers managing to avoid the bottom 10 though Séyetana coming last is also undeserved aw, though I get the feeling I might enjoy other songs from this artist more than this one, will keep an eye out for future releases.

Me hoping to avoid the bottom 3 was a well chosen ambition it seems, avoiding it by exactly one place! *_* thank you to Pavel for the last few points pushing me over the 100 point mark anyways. In truth I did kind of know I was probably heading towards the bottom of the scoreboard as I was privy to the semi-final spreadsheets again (I didn't look at them until after the semi-final results, though looking at them earlier would have saved me a lot of stress during the semi results ddd) so I already knew that I was extraordinarily lucky to qualify this month, only doing so because of Mulgracia's non-voting argh. So thanks James being my new best friend this month!! Also didn't help that 20% of my semi-final points came from Beaverdonia who of course didn't vote in the final lol ~ Would have been a little soul-crushing to miss out on completing my 20 qualification streak with a song missing out so narrowly but things just barely worked out. With that in mind triple figures in the final and receiving one 18 is more than I could have reasonably asked for!

Thanks Bal for the excellent hosting, loved the commitment to the theme and all running smoothly (minus the site's hardware failure interrupting things a little but we'll forget about that as it was out of your hands ), kicking off the year in style! Now here's hoping you can still get that elusive win one of these days so this won't be the only time

And this essay post will feel incomplete without a mention of Mel C's cropped foot x

It'd be Sovarasma next in line if Summericia decline again (although the universe is clearly telling Roba to host again with it giving him a second chance in a row )

Suedeonia's song was only released a couple of months ago! (although not too surprised to learn it's a cover of an older track - giving a listen to the original now, I am still enjoying it but agreed that Levellers' version is better anyway, not quite as keen on the vocals on the original and it's a little lower energy in general).

Congrats Roba, unfortunately yet another winner that missed my votes, but not by much, it had some really interesting vibes to it. Great to see Suedeonia behind it though, that was a clear highlight of this contest and I'm really pleased so many others thought so.

Bal, excellent hosting, I really enjoyed the commitment put into it and the stylising of this contest and working around site outages and such is all really impressive.

god I'm glad Skall and Eledan got their votes in, I figured they'd be among my strongest supporters but that was over a third of my points there! I honestly thought "Déconstruction" would have a far wider appeal than that, but thank you to those that did really enjoy it, I barely gained ANY voters from Semi 2 even after scraping through Semi 1 so I guess that's a really lucky qualifier in retrospect even though I was very confident throughout, there's such a great power in its build. Seeing Utopia and Persephonia in the bottom 5 with me is also really unfortunate to see, my votes were so dominated by semi 1 that outside of my 18 to Jadakissnia, 5 to Aeroche and 1 to Askorza, those two were nearly the only qualifiers from semi 2 I was on board with - what on earth was up with that semi xx

anyway, on to my next plan to wrestle voters into voting for me

Thanks for all the love for RHODES. I am so happy with 28th tbh a lot better than i thought. I got a couple of medal points from D'yermak'er and singer which im so happy about but also very happy with the points i got.

Posting here as Haus now finally, not HAL Thank you all for the kind words for the contest - I was initially v nervous about undertaking the task especially while moving house, but it turned out to be great fun and I loved every second of it.

I loved the music too - so many stand out moments. A huge congrats to Rob - the song has grown on me massively as I saw the votes coming in and deciding to check it out again. Well done

Sorry for the lack of engagement from me on the results night, but a huge thanks to the 16 different people who gave Zanmatony points in BJSC 151, especially Harmonica for the unexpected gold medal! I genuinely did not make any real effort with the find for this contest, and it was a very surprising result, but I am glad many of you enjoyed the nostalgic trip and thank you so much for the semi-final voters who helped me finish 6th!

A big thanks to our host HAL who put in an inspired presentation, and it will be remembered for the BuzzJack award honors at the end of this year I am sure!

Congratulations to our friends from Summericia for a consecitive vistory, clearly everyone is trying desperately to keep you in the competition so you get no rest!

Congrats Rob! Always impressive for an AQ to win and obviously back-to-back wins is amazing Equally amazing result for Suedeonia, 2nd is way above and beyond what I expected for their song, even as much as I love it! Also very happy for Kathaldazia even though I couldn't fit 'Out Of Luck' in my votes, and Sovarasma as high as 6th is also a major but very welcome surprise!

Justice for Conoria, Bhangra, and Ben's Sanctuary, none of which deserved bottom 10 or anywhere near, but all three were brilliant discoveries so thank you for sending them <3

Thanks Bal for hosting, I've never watched 2001: A Space Odyssey but I can still appreciate a well-executed theme *.*
