A thread for the 2024 edition of BJSC Prophecies.
Here are mine:
Well here we go:
Well mine for 2023 didn't quite pan out well so pinch of salt with this year too but I'd like some to turn out right nonetheless!
Hendinia will have their streak continue for most of the first half of 2024 until they land in a unfavourable semi and it breaks only to qualify every other contest following that showing it was just a one month blip.
Aeroche will win 2 times this year
Pestolia, Bronzil and Sovarasma pick up first time wins.
Singerpurear have a successful year qualifying 7 times and nabbing 2 top 5's.
Conoria grab three top 10's this year with a huge 2nd finish among them.
Zanmatony will also get a top 3 with a few more top 20's and the scattered lower results otherwise.
Rolloland will send their shortest entry to date that finishes within the top 20.
Bellamia returns to enter only a handful of times, qualifying on all.
East Rukahavian will scrape through the semi's on pure luck 3 times this year but manage one top 15 result in the final!
Mine is that Buzzjack will go into meltdown arguing over whether their fave / hated artisy is cheating the charts...
Cor Lupus will continue to flop
As will Yehesi
~ Kathaldazia top the year-end chart again
~ Jadakissnia win a spinoff
~ East Rukahavian make another drastic switchup in sound
~ Summericia bounce back from losing their Q streak by winning the first contest of the year
~ FSR Rontvia score a win almost exactly ten years after their last
~ one of the recent newcomers scores their first win (I'll take a stab in the dark and say Neliönoir)
~ at least one of D'yermak'er, Kluminican Republic or Ramrynia finish second again
~ Cor Lupus will claim to have had a disaster year despite qualifying every month
~ Republic of Adonia send a BoA track marking her seventh and final entry in the contest
~ Trifoski complete a year-long DNQ streak
~ Scotland 2 will send a fair amount of nutty entries but none will pass the 20 minute mark this time
~ there'll be a Hendinia-hosted contest with BJSC FM making a return
~ a third nil pointer happens
~ a long-running nation announces their 'retirement'
~ one of the competing artists from 2024's Eurovision contest gets sent here
~ there'll be at least one ridiculously cheap entry with a famous sample/interpolation
~ at least one song from an animated series or movie appears
~ at least one entry goes on to be a viral chart smash later in the year
No chance of me winning this month with what I have planned haha!
No one even bothering to predict me winning this time, I see how it is x
Cor Lupus and leap years are a recipe for a hot mess so I expect another weird and inconsistent year topped off with a win that surprises me the same way EVERGLOW did four years ago 🤷♂️
Other predictions:
• Yobnedorica returns and qualifies in most of the contests this year
• POPHub in the vein of Yobnedorica (who also DNQ’d while hosting) takes a small hiatus but comes back with a top 10
• Neliönoir breakout year with two top 5’s, one of which is a medal position
• I’d say out of Trifoski and Scotland 2, the one who will come out of this “weaponized ADHD era” war will be Trifoski
• this year cools down with debuts (I thought 2023 exceeded expectations in terms of who joined) but the debuts will be high impact, one will join dancebloc
• I don’t think Summericia will really recover from the DNQ last contest, at least not this year
• Hushkanukia returns but for a bit longer, Bellamia makes two comeback attempts and the second one will stick, none will be any time soon
• this is gonna be a hot take: I don’t think we’ll get any new winners. If we do it’ll be by the skin of their teeth.
Long shots:
• Tinnmark return
• Pagasa manages to get a win, meaning all current American Buzzjackers will have gotten at least one win
Love a 'hot mess' year that includes a win xx
'At least not this year'
Kluminican Republic will win at least once
Hushkanukia will return for one contest only
Ultraviolenceland will have two consecutive top tens
Persephonia will have two consecutive DNQs
A rock-esque track will win
A new nation will finish top ten
There will be at least two months without any vetos
One nation will be allocated the same semi final for every contest
At least someone remembered me!
(I fear you might be right xx)
I won’t do what I did last year and prophesy for every nation… but I will limit my predictions to 12 nations as follows;
A first win for Abeltesfayeton after a brilliant 2023.
Everyone will visit Persephonia this year as they will host a contest in 2024… but will that be as a winning nation… only time will tell.
Jadakissnia continues their excellent form of 2023 by qualifying for every contest this year.
Three times in 2024 will see Cor Lupus announced last in the semi final results, and they will DNQ one time only.
Many anticipate good things for Summericia and their best result for 2024 is a silver medal but they are in strong contention for EOY #1.
Nobody predicts much for Trifoski this year, but they end up with two wooden spoons and send a double confirmation with Scotland 2 the same month.
Aeroche will return to winning ways this year and also score the highest pointed winning entry for 2024.
The Buzzverse will be shocked when Sovarasma claims their first and second victories of the year… they just aren’t ready. 🚨WINNER ALERT🚨
Pop Bloc comes through for Klumimican Republic by giving them one of their best entries of all time this year.
Everyone will enjoy a scenic visit to the land of Taahino for a contest this Autumn.
Land of DW regrettably announces their retirement.
As for returning nations…
This year will see one of Daehun, Cowtermont, Arcodesia or Scherzland returning. Stay tuned.
Omg 2 wins in a year
Two of Neliönoir, Zanmatony, Sovarasma, Jadakissnia and Persephonia will win
One of Kluminican Republic, Quintessa, Botanikka or Cor Lupus will also win.
Aeroche will return to winning ways with a win early on in the year (and perhaps another), and will also top the end of year chart once more.
Aeroche and Kluminican Republic come 1st and 2nd in one contest, with the winner decided by the final vote.
Hendinia and Kathaldazia will also retain their top three positions in the end of year chart. Hendinia manages a win and then hosts brilliantly once more, but also more of their songs than usual miss the top 20 in the final.
Somebody announces themselves as the winner (either a previous winner or an elected host).
One long Q streak (15+) is broken in the first half of the year. The nation in question blames it on the semi draw for their song.
Only half of Danæviia's entries are dance, and the nation mulls over a rebrand for the first time in a while.
A song under two minutes long finishes in the top ten, as does a novelty song.
A very heavily discussed song among the veto team slips through and wins with a lead of over 60 points, leading to outrage that it was allowed in.
One winner goes onto be a UK top 75 hit.
New Lexico and Ramrynia both send two artists that either appear in Eurovision or a National Final.
République d'Áskorza and Greenfroze trade 18s in one contest.
Time is up for one of the veteran (pre-2012) nations, who call it a day.
Another nation who hasn't taken a break for over five years also takes a few months out, but will return...
An unexpected nation (one that almost always qualifies) DNQ's twice in a row.
Summericia don't DNQ again for a while, and have a very solid start to the year, with two top fives before the halfway point.
FSR Rontvia have a less emphatic year than the last couple, with many more flops, but come in closer contention to win that at any point in the last decade...will we ever get over that line?
The way some of y’all manifested the Sovarasma double I am scared of y’all-
Gotta sit down with Wardy and pick my cards for the remaining of the year and see how well/bad it will be!!!
I’ve got a few right already - the Sovarasma win and somebody announcing themselves as the winner
Lol... no one predicted Kylienips would return
Yeah that's a goat prediction tbf!
