We are back in the Ice Palace of Berg, Danæviia for the reveal of this contest's final results. The show will be broadcast live on DTV from 20:00 – 22:30 presented by Dan Daniels Junior. Spring is looming but you will all find out the winner just before the changing of the seasons.

We've arrived at Berg in Danaeviia from Buzzjack Mountain for the results and it's absolutely freezing Colder than the top of Buzzjack Mountain at the minute. The ski facilities in Berg are closed because of coronavirus restrictions too so there's not much to do here other than huddle by the fire and wait for the results!

Land of DW and Botanikka were very similar in my rankings so I don't really mind either way who wins! Maybe it'd be nice to go to Botanikka as we had a Land of DW contest very recently?

Growing enough on the Kluminican people to make it to 1 point within the contest I anticipate 'Vicious Pastimes' topping the Kluminican charts circa August xx

Some small commentary since I never added it to my PM:
- Rolloland was a very easy 18 for me this month, gorgeous song, helps that it is actually a discovery too unlike the other two in my top 3 (Silver Sphere of course being a potential for me too and I knew of Sofia Kourtesis from a song Jade randomly found from her a while back and have kept tabs, great songs though of course x)
- I mentioned in the final voting thread that there were a few late growers - those were Terra Avium (already loved but now love even more), Singerpurear (grew on me more after I actually paid more attention to it as I expected it might) and Aelandor (this one was frustrating me as it felt like something I should have loved but there was something not quite connecting with me right up until my final listenthrough, 3 points may still not be a lot but I'm glad it clicked with me enough to at least get something in the end x)
- Also just highlighting the big difference in quality between the semis, I voted for 9 songs from semi 1 and only 5 from semi 2 - the next few after the couple of commiserations I listed were also mostly semi 1 songs

Congrats to John on the win - I was all ready to bitch and moan about such a mediocre song winning if you were to take it, but the song actually sounded significantly better on my last listenthrough somehow (it wasn't particularly close to my votes but it ended up ranking as high as 27th for me rather than the bottom 5 or so that I initially expected it to be) so I am happy to say that I don't entirely not get it!

So it was Land of DW who won SF1, albeit not by a landslide. Summericia managed 2nd and sadly underperformed big time in the final - missing the top 20. Hendinia likewise did unfortunately due to late voting. Rolloland underperformed even more, finishing top 5 in the semi but only 33rd in the final. Meanwhile Zanmatony and Aeroche were huge over performers.

Altyr Muunilinst likewise won their semi and with a sizeable lead, Bøtanikkä well ahead of third place too so them taking up the final top 2 was no surprise to me. No real under/overperformers in this semi to take note of. Worth noting however that the bottom 2 of this semi's qualifiers were also the bottom 2 of the final, with East Rukahavian only passing through due to Adonia's late voting deduction.

I was rather overhyped in the end, but I basically did as well as I initially could have expected before the hype train started rolling and I'm elated to get a top ten so soon into the year, and with reliable Scandipop that admittedly completely apes Florence and Lana so much that she sounds like a tribute act. But I couldn't ignore such a huge chorus.

Well done Altyr, it's definitely a solid pop track! I did think Bøtanikkä would get it, but it's another runners-up slot for Cam.

Great to see Cumulonimbia do so well, the surprise package of the evening but it is wonderful.

I really wish FARC had gone top ten, it's so stunning, but I guess that subtle shimmering electro Scandi sound winning is in BJSC's past now, sadly. Nothing I'm gobsmacked about in the bottom ten but Ojnoj deserved way more than it got.

Thanks for the really fantastic hosting Dan, I would so love to win again one day so I can host again, but while the hype is often there the results never *quite* go all the way

As frustratingly close to winning/an AQ as that was, I am extremely pleased with 3rd, I wasn't prepared to believe the hype even though I did feel a bit more confident in this one (I mean she had a top 5 fairly recently so yeah bit cheap etc.) as you just never know when you're so familiar with an entry! The album was really good and quite different to her other entry sent here that I had to give it go so I'm really pleased it was a great discovery for so many. This is my first top 10 in exactly two years and one of my best performing entries so I can't really complain, thank you very much all who voted, you've all been too good to me with these recent song contests *.*

I won't lie, the top 2 did not appeal to me at all, I barely remember how either go, but it's not like that's the first time that's happened, I was so spoilt for choice with my favourites in the top 10 last month, I guess we have to balance things out Congrats to John on a fourth win and what a great time to do it on your 100th!

Very pleased to see Cumulonimbia do so well as I didn't expect it, and great for Oslol and Land of DW too. My own favourites were all a lot lower down this month, but most of them performed somewhat decently. The only real disappointment is Rolloland, I really thought that could be another top 10

Cam really seems cursed to 2nd place, 'Diane' of course coming 2nd here before and now 'The Otherside' has come 2nd both here and on PopJustice A little torn on whether I'm disappointed that Rein just missed out on 2nd or relieved that Chez doesn't have to add another 2nd place to his list, happy it managed a top 3 anyway! Have enjoyed both of the Rein entries but this one definitely wound up being comfortably better than 'Electric' for me so happy that's reflected in the result. The top 10 ended up actually being a little worse than it was at the halfway mark for me as I only voted for 3 of them but then I voted for 7 of the top 10 last month so I suppose a less favourable bunch was due Great to see Land of DW making the top 5 (wasn't really on my radar as a hit but makes sense in retrospect!) and Oslol getting a top 10 to make up for their undeserved flops in the last two contests.

I wasn't huge on either of their songs this time around but also cool to see Cumulonimbia matching their peak and Zanmatony returning with their first ever top 10 (though just a tiebreak away from coming 11th a third time, lucky)! Beyond that, very pleasing to have Dobago and Vülkyria both making the top 20 (being a bit of a broken record but again take that people who predicted them to DNQ xx) and Danæviia up there too even though they faded quite a lot from earlier on in the results.

Ngl I was kind of expecting Silver Sphere to do a bit better (I'm surprised that my own entry beat it!) but I guess good to know I didn't screw myself out of a huge hit, rather just another midtable. Aw at Jadakissnia being only low top 30 as I initially thought this would have been another pretty solid hit oops (it was top 10 on PopJustice). Biggest disappointment though is Rolloland being only 33rd, though this is the second month in a row that my 18 has been a song I convinced myself would do pretty well and then made very little impact, I guess they've just been a little bit too niche!

A very unremarkable semi-final result, looks like I actually did slightly better than my projected final position even though I thought my semi was pretty perfect for my song

A few personal comments from me now:

Well it was a bit of a shame the Danævii points dried up a bit towards the end having been top 10 for most of the reveal but top 20 and over 200 points I will definitely still take as a success. I wasn't sure how well an electronica piano composition would do here so I'm pleased it managed to get a fair few fans.

'Dance For The Hell Of It' just wasn't really for me, not by any means a bad song but it was one of my least favourites of the final, oh well. Fitting for such a constant hitmaker to win with their 100th entry though and I look forward to BJSC 133 in Altyr.
Very pleased that 'The Otherside' managed to do very well, I was very much hoping it'd give Bøtanikkä a long awaited second win (and how fitting it would be for an Avicii co-written song to win a Danæviia contest!) but at least it put up a good fight.
Yay for Zanmatony managing to get their first top 10 on their comeback!!
Cumulonimbia / Land of DW top 5, Dobago top 15 and Aelandor top 20 are all great to see too.
A shame that East Rukahvian had to finish so low once again with a house bop, but then again it did only just scrape through the semis.

Once again I'm glad you've all enjoyed your stay in Berg, Danæviia. I really enjoyed hosting this month as ever especially with it being another high quality contest this time around. Spreadsheets will be up tomorrow.

Well I can't say I was too shocked to finish high in the semi as I didget hit vibes from FM but oops at underperforming compared to my expectations really. Think that's my 2nd 24th placer tho so can't complain especially when the quality was insanely strong really.

Synthwave not smashing it hard this time round in general either (unless I missing something major lol). Pleased to get first time points from Kath and Mack!! I've been wondering for years whether I'd get votes from you lmao.

East Rukahavian's run in the last few contests is kind of impressive in its own way tbh. 5 of their last 7 entries have qualified but 3 of those came last, then this one came 2nd from last and the other came 4th from last. Really nailing getting just enough appeal to qualify but not enough to actually do anything in the final. (It's better than having 10 DNQs in a row again at least!)

Very good to see Terra Avium in the top 3, that's more my speed of song <3 And it was nice to see so many Aelandor 18s + other high points that I noticed, I was really behind that, such great vocaloid and instrumental epicness. Really expected Chestoria to do better though, that sort of autotune is addictive to me, I figured it'd snag at least some pop people.

Congrats John! Not a fan of the song myself but a convincing enough win that I don't have to regret not bumping up Cam to my +18.

Very strong top 10 in general though with Land of DW & Cor Lupus finishing very high. 18th for Thelonia is pretty dece too!

Super happy with 14th for my entry even if it was top 10 for most of the evening. A relatively risky entry but there wasn't much else like it in the final which probably helped. Not quite a unique finishing position neither with 2 other instrumentals of mine White Sand & Hello E also landing 14th.

Unlike February 2020's top-tier contest, a lot of my faves (Fljotavik, Tartford, Caerfyddia, Utopia, Klumanica) have flopped to some extent this time and a lot of the top 10 don't do much for me, but I'm glad to have come away with so many discoveries!

Doesn’t that make Bøtanikkä the winner with 324 points verses Altyr’s 319 points? (although on the spreadsheet I see Bøtanikkä‘s total is calculated at 306, so there must be a reason for this 18 point margin that I’m missing. )

Wow, I'm very shocked/amazed but so happy to finish 4th - Bré: get those excel pivot tables out, what was our other 4th finish? Was it Special Request? I thought that there wasn't much support for the Cumulonimbia entry and then because of the strength of quality in the final that it would struggle to fight for attention and get lost in the mix. Anyway, I'm just pleased that so many others enjoyed it - huge thanks to all those who placed us in their votes. On the track both collaborators are great independent Irish artists who deserve a wider audience, Elaine Mai is a music producer and MayKay was formerly the lead singer of Fight Likes Apes, so this was quite a change of direction for her! Anyway, the trance like breakdown in the festival edit and soaring chorus make me want the summer to arrive right now.

I do wish that my favourites from Utopia and Vülkyria had done much better but I made some excellent discoveries and have no complaints with the results, the quality was so high and I really didn't have anything that I didn't enjoy in the final.

Well done to John for the win, and thank you Dan for putting together a superb contest and presentation - I'm sorry I wasn't able to participate much but I have been checking back and it was very enjoyable to follow.

Near the bottom is to be expected for Niceland I guess but looking at that last spreadsheet Dan posted it was absolutely a case of being in the right semi this time round Glad to be off the mark in terms of Qs for this year at least, and thanks for all the people who gave me points!

The sang is a complete rip-off of A Spaceman Came (Travelling)!! I'm not sure if it will get disqualified, as the rules state that covers can be accepted as long as they're different to the original, so we'll have to see what the veto committee says!

The fact that it’s taken until a day or so after results for it to be brought up as a rip off suggests it’s substantially different enough not to have been an AV so even with that info in front of me I’d have still voted to keep it
