Welcome back to FSR Rontvia for the 5th time, and to BJSC XXXII! Who will reign victorious this month?

Once again, you will be confirming your entry anonymously and all of the entries will be revealed in the voting thread. Whether the contest takes the form of semi-finals or 'one big final' depends on how many participants take part. If it's 40 or more then we will return to semis. It's first come first served, so if you try to confirm a song that somebody else has already taken, you'll get a rebounded PM and will have to pick something else. All of the entries will also be sent to the mods for their approval so don't be trying to confirm Who You Are by Jessie J, as it won't get you anywhere. Inspired entries only please, or at least songs that are likely to be unknown to most!

You MUST NOT confirm in this thread, or discuss what you have confirmed in here. You may change your entry but don't take advantage of this and try to confirm something you consider cheap only to change at the last minute - trust that the mods will block out anything they consider uninspired.

You have until 9pm, on Monday 28th February to confirm your entry. If you confirm after this, it will not be accepted - this gives you just over 8 days, so lets make this an amazing high quality contest with lots of participants and lots of competition.

There is less Indie now than a year ago and there has been a swing back towards Scandipop and electropop in general.

I left mostly because of the whole one big final curfuffel and a lack of free time in general.
Sounds like it may be a bit more to my taste, shall have to be a bit more adventurous with my entry this time round though! I'm not settling for no semi-liked generic song this time...it's gotta be amazing!

Is that when it doesn't make it past the semis? I remember right after the last contest, I was like 'I can't believe 'so-and-so' got ahead of me! ' , but now I realise I wasn't likely to win, all I can hope for is to do better this time

I have three songs in mind. One would probably be a shoo-in for last place, one could probably get a good result but I'm really not sure about sending it (not cheap as such, but the artist is known and the song will be known by a few too), and the other has Jonjo written all over it (most unknown of the lot, but I don't love it as much).

Yep, but we will only bring back semis again this month if we have 40 participants or more. So far we have 22 confirmed so it doesn't look too likely...

Still, bringing back the 12 points system, if we have a 39 song final and you can only vote for 10, that's going to be one HELL of a cull. The 18 points system was brought in in the first place to account for the bigger finals so the 'big final, small points system' which is looking likely at the moment, will make it ridiculously hard to vote.

I'm not complaining, god knows I've changed mine enough in the past. It was just an observation - the other four times I've hosted there were maybe only 2 or 3 changes in total, I already must have seen about 10-15 and there's still another 5 days left to confirm!

So what if I'm proud of having the record of hosting the contest more times than anybody else It could have been six times if I hadn't passed it on in XV. But that's ok, I hosted in VIII when somebody passed it down to me, so it all balanced out in the end. Each time hosting is VERY different, as the rules and procedures are always changing.

You can host next month if you want! You just have to win first

You can upload to YT again, but make it unlisted. That means people can only view it if they have the link. It's a bit inconvenient, but if you'd like to have it on YT instead of Dailymotion etc. it is an alternative option! If it's unlisted, I'm pretty sure they can't do anything like take it down!

Only uploading my BJSC entries really...a few of them have been taken down/blocked in the past once record companies cotton on. And each time this happens you get a 'strike' - 3 strikes and you lose quite a few privileges or get your account (and all of its videos) deleted!

A MINOR tweak for you all to be aware of - confirmation will now close 3 hours earlier than planned - at 9pm on Monday 28th Feb, instead of midnight - so that I have enough time to get the mods to check over and bounce the confirmed list back to me asap before I sort out the voting threads ready for Tuesday. You still have two and a half days to decide/confirm if you haven't done so already! Don't leave it too late, I won't be accepting them after the cut off point!

The lack of those two songs does rather remove the 'foregone conclusion' element from the contest imo And I'm surprised nobody bothered with any of the MF/DMGP rejects!

I agree, it certainly would have done well, but I didn't think that full-blown-Abba-esque schlager would contend for victory, and it certainly wouldn't have been in with such a good shot that it would have been a "forgone conclusion" of a contest! Especially because they're not even doing it straight so to speak, just look at the group themselves.

It's a bit more modern than that, it's hardly pure 70's-esque! It has the disco touches, but they're done in a more contemporary way, unlike the sound of the rest of their dated album

I was referring more to Helena Paparizou as the 'forgone conclusion', although that could have underperformed and I think it may well have done...
