Welcome back to the grand final of BJSC 81, hosted here in Kua, Kluminican Republic! Here we have 41 songs vying to gain your attention and love hoping they have a shot of the big prize! All countries are welcome to vote in the final, even if you DNQ at the semi final stage!

RULES

For the final we will be using the 18 point system which, for those of you who are unaware, allows you to vote for more songs than before.

~ non-voters will receive a 33% deduction and a 1 contest ban, this also applies to countries that DNQ at the semi final stage
~ late voters will receive a 15% deduction, but it is at my discretion whether to accept late votes as they may affect the prep and delay the results show.
~ please don't vote for your own country, but i think you lot get that by now!

Just under 24 hours to go until the voting closes and the winner of BJSC 81 has been decided! I presume a lot of votes will come in fairly late after the Dubtrack session but if you can it would be good to get them in throughout the day rather than at 23:58

This final is giving me very mixed emotions. On the one hand there are quite a lot of inspired/unique/interesting entries - specifically enjoyed listening to Oslol/What/Séyetana back to back during that session (well... interrupted by kitties) but on the other hand there's soooo much more inseparably bland forgettable stuff than I usually find in BJSC finals. So, happy with my votes but on the whole would call this a pretty weak contest. Idk.

I've now got Republic of Adonia's votes so they will receive a 15% deduction. Any other countries that still wish to vote have until midday GMT to vote and get a 15% deduction. Otherwise it's the full 33% and ban.

We don't have a written rule and I think both penalties have been applied in the past so I will leave it to you for this month and then later in the year, when we have time to discuss it, we'll get it hard coded into the rules

lol my song got the least reactions in terms of updubs/downdubs! (I don't know why I felt a need to point this out) At least no downdubs, heh.

Other thoughts.. Iz said he wanted to have my song vetoed, also I kinda hate that I recycled an artist so I think I'm gonna try to make more of an effort to be really inspired from now on! I'll *try* not to recycle again unless it's a song I really really want to send (this song was) because it makes me feel dirty. And hopefully no more artists with a ton of blog coverage etc This doesn't mean all the songs from now on will be weird (some of them will ), they'll just hopefully be less well known.

I think recycling is okay in moderation, I kinda have rules regarding it in my head- 1. It has to have been a year (at minimum) since they were last entered 2. If possible send something from a different EP or album than the previous entry, ofc this is just me and these aren't actually a thing . Allie X was entered initially a year ago, so although you've send a song from the same body of work that Tumour came from, you sent it a decent amount of time after she last popped up in the contest, so don't feel 'dirty' This month is the first time I've recycled and tbh I think I always new that Tonight Alive would be an artist that I'd send but I was actually going to wait until either the March or April contest as they'd have a whole new album by then, I think The Ocean was sent in 2014 (possibly 2013?), So I was like okay it's been at least two years, they have a really awesome new song, it is time

Yeah, that sounds like a good way to go about it. I think this is my third time recycling in my seven years in this, the other ones were years ago and I didn't really have a very good grasp back then as to what to send And this time I was sure Allie X hadn't been entered because I thought I checked the thread with the list of songs and didn't see her! But apparently I hadn't because when I double-checked the thread days later, her name popped up and I was a bit disappointed, haha. But decided to send it anyway because I really wanted to, basically.
