I totally agree... Lady GaGa is AWESOME!!! Just Dance is already my #1 song for a 6th straight week, and I'm also OBSESSED with her! Can't wait for the album, and I really hope she makes it BIG, so we can hear more and more and more from her...!

album sampler is fantastic. only ones I dislike on first listen are Money Honey [sounds like a lackluster Just Dance] and Again Again which is just dull.

they could have easily been replaced with better songs like Retro Sexual & Dirty Ice Cream

I listened to the album sampler and liked them all. (Except 'Again Again' which I wasn't quite sure on). 'Poker Face' and 'Money Honey' sound like 'Just Dance' part II But they're great. I am definitely going to buy this album.

Also after seeing a 'making of The Fame' thing on youtube I have decided that Lady GaGa is about the most fabulous thing ever, and must rule the world.

I'm really liking the album clips; Dirty Money in particular sounds like all kinds of ace, and Parazzi. To me the whole thing has a total vibe of Gwen's L.A.M.B about it, and that is one of the albums of the decade...

'The Fame' is released properly in Canada in 3 days. The albums out and about with some people now so I'd expect a net-wide leak in the next 48 hours.

She's quite possibly the best new pop artist of the last 5 years. She's just the whole package isn't she? Excellent singer and dancer (at the same time), excellent writer, her own fashion. It's refreshing to see someone so passionate about pop music and experience someone redefining it and moving the vessel of pop forwards. She holds many of the past qualities of her idols (Madonna being one such example).

'Just Dance' is shaping up to be a massive worldwide hit too. It's top 10 in half of the world's iTunes o:

I do love the ga ga and I hope Im wrong but I don't see her album doing well in the states at all. Maybe Gold on shipment, maybe. but that's it. And thats quite sad I don't think they're ready for her. Plus "Just Dance" is really lacking in airplay over there. And that makes up 50% of the chart positions
I do hope she is massive in Europe. Like Pink or Anastacia - american artists who don't really need the american market.

It really is refreshing to see someone like ga ga who has the whole package. Easily the most exciting music force since Madonna!


I wish her album will leak already. I will be buying the album, but I need the songs NOW

She's easily got the capacity to be become globally huge. She's currently #01 in Canada and the Canadian and American markets are essentially the same with some minor differences. Interscope haven't even begun to push 'Just Dance' yet. They haven't even sent it for adds yet! I suspect her team are launching her internationally before putting some proper money into her in the two major markets; the UK and the USA.

It took a while for it to grow on me too. When it was entered in the BJSC I thought it was alright, but I didn't give it any points. Now it would definitely be a contender for my top few points.

I like all the previews I've heard from her so far, I hope the album does well for her.

I think the album will likely do very well. The success of the single already, with no promotion like Jake said, just shows that the world is really dying for the music of this girl; it'd be wise to release another song before the album though, or alongside, to ensure people are convinced that she's capable or more goodness and Just Dance isn't a one-off.

Okay, I've really changed my mind about this album. There are lots of songs that I love now and I'm dying to buy the album..I may have to import it. I'm officially obsessed with the clips of Poker Face and Nothing I Can Say (Eh Eh), I've been playing them for probably an hour now..October is too long to wait. Nothing I Can Say has this hot synth thing going on, I love it so much. Another contender for a single. I just saw the video for Just Dance and I love that as well.

According to various reliable sources, Lady GaGa has been asked by Jive Records to open for Britney Spears on her upcoming 2009 world tour, Britney has fallen in love with her work and wants her to open for her next tour. “Nothing is set in stone yet”, says a source close to Britney’s camp “Stefani (Lady GaGa) is planning her own tour for later this year and Britney is still working on her comeback album along with getting her mental and physical health in order”. Only time will tell if this is true.

Everything about her reminds me so much of Gwen Stefani! Rank of the album after one listen:

10 | Just Dance | Best song on the album doubtless. Future classic.
10 | Eh Eh | Jesus, this is 'Cool' for 2008 isn't it?! Is she a Stefani fan? Ace anyway. So uplifting.
10 | Poker Face | Despite recycling Just Dance's verses, this is fantastic. Lovely melancholic chorus.
10 | Beautiful Dirty Rich | Brilliance. The chorus is pure fabulousness. Punchy. Me likey.
10 | Money Honey | Is this the track which will revolve? I hope not! Especially hot verses.
09 | Boys Boys Boys | Fabulous, and could be grow hugely too. Nothing original lyrically though, see Gwen.
09 | The Fame | Less synthesised than the others, and a welcome break. Catchy, and clever lyrics.
09 | Again Again | Oh my! This is a total departure, isn't it? Absolutely lovely if nonsensical.
09 | Paparazzi | Cute. Reminds me of hugely of Gwen... Chorus wanks on the verses.
09 | Love Game | Very good, just missing a tiny something. A little warmth or emotion perhaps.
09 | I Like It Rough | Thank god for this at the end of the tracklist, because it saves the album from that final dip. Ace.
08 | Summerboy | Alright. Nice song but it doesn't belong on this album... Reminds me a bit of Blondie.
07 | Brown Eyes | Hmm, not a favourite at all. She should stick to electronica when she slows the tempo.

Btw, I'm not sure BDR is the actual second single. The video was shot on the set of ABC's dramedy Dirty Sexy Money so it may be some tie-in for an advertisement? Who knows...

It'd be a good second single though. Other future singles are surely Eh Eh and Poker Face.

I dont get all the gwen comments. I like Gwen but Gaga's album is way different, more pushing on the dance side of things and more experimental than Gwen's album. I don't see the simmilarities

To me LAMB is a softer version of The Fame. LAMB is more poppy, The Fame is harder. And vocally Gaga is superior. Whilst I can see a mild similarity I dont recall Gwen recording anything in the style of "just dance", "poker face" etc. Seriously, there is nothing on LAMB like those tracks. maybe the slower tracks? I could "paparazzi" being compared to "cool". And both albums have 80's and electro influences whilst trying to be urban and please america

I think if anything, The Fame is poppier! Or just as poppy. Seriously, nothing on the album is as crazy or wild or unique as her performances and the promo such as that short film would have you believe. It's reasonably safe stuff.

That's not a criticism - I do love it. Just Dance, Money Honey, Boys Boys Boys, Dirty Rich, Poker Face and Eh Eh are well worth downloading. Singles-wise I'd go:

1 | Just Dance - obviously.
2 | Boys Boys Boys - huge appeal, and not too similar to JD. Brilliantly catchy, uplifting chorus.
3 | Poker Face - fan favourite, brilliant chorus.
4 | Eh Eh - 'Cool'-esque slower paced number to draw in new fans and close the era.

However with a tie-in video already short for Dirty Rich, I'd go:

1 | Just Dance
2 | Dirty Rich (US, where Dirty Sexy Money is a big thing) / Boys Boys Boys (Global)
3 | Poker Face
4 | Boys Boys Boys (US) / Eh Eh (Global)

No offense Ryan but you seem to think anything with some synths and an 80's vibe is a steal from Gwen...this album is so much better then LAMB and Gwen Stefani is one of my favourtie artists.

Not at all, I am not critiquing the album or saying Gwen is better. I just find the tone and general record incredibly similar to LAMB. It's basically a mash-up of early Madonna and LAMB. Look at all the comparisons the album is getting - it's not a bad thing. Anyone who says this album is experimental, different, unique... urm, they clearly needs to listen to more music instead of what is being released in the mainstream.

Best album ever is pushing it a wee bit, also... it's disappointing if anything. I was expecting something far crazier.

I agree with the LAMB comparisons, both are very similar in image / tone.

However, I find 'The Fame' to correct the mistakes that Gwen made with LAMB. I love Gwen, but I have never been completely satisfied with her solo work. She tries too hard to incorporate RnB into her music where she could totally shine with more pop. Whereas I find that I am completely satisfied with The Fame. Very solid pop album. <3 Totally lovely. It does falter in a few places though (Again Again, Brown Eyes, Paparazzi), but it has enough strong tracks to make up for its mistakes.

And yeah, it's definitely not experimental haha. Just a solid pop album.

Dissapointed as everyone was raving about it. I love 3 songs, "Just Dance" "Love Game" and "Boys Boys Boys"

at the Gwen comparisons. I really don't see it :/ Yeah both made pure pop debut albums. Gwen's being ten times better may I add.

As if anything on this touches the likes of "What You Waiting For" "Cool" "Danger Zone" "Serious" and "The Real Thing".

I see the early Madonna comparison production wise...her voice is alot better then Madonna's though. And I'd say it was on the same level as Gwen's...like others have said The Fame is all about pop while LAMB is all about trying to incorporate r&b, hip hop and pop. And the album is not experimental, maybe extremely good but not unique. I do think it is unique for someone trying to be big in America and to have their focus only on adult pop music instead of trying to put r&b and rap into the production.

And may I also add that quality of Lady Gaga is EXTREMELY refreshing to me.




Well, it isn't the best album ever I only thought that because every song was so instant. It is by for the best pop album to come out this year, and in my top 5 for the past couple of years. Very solid pop album, very few mistakes made...which is definitely saying something.

Not confirmed, but it's probable. It's a tie-in with the ABC dramedy Dirty Sexy Money, and it's filmed on the set of that show, so presumably the song will be used over an advert for the new season of that which will help the song to gain momentum in the US. It's certainly going to be 2nd US single.

All this gwen talk has got me listening to her albums today! I will be honest in saying I forgot how good her first one was. Her second, good in parts but overall weak. Needed more tracks like "wonderful life". more on the electro, less on the urban. "Early Winter" is a modern day breakup ANTHEM!

Anyway, back to the ga ga. Her album is getting better with each listen. But to be honest I actually expected more agressive tracks. Some of it is surprisingly bubblegum. Which isn't so much a bad thing, just unexpected. Still a solid debut and easily my favourite album of the year so far. Along With Jesse Mccartney's "departure".

Seriously, after listening to some of my least favorite tracks a coupel of times they grew. Not one ad song on this album.


I am going to rate again after letting th album digest for about two days. But this time I will try to be a bit critical :kink

Just Dance - 9.5 : This song is basically the gateway drug for her album, it is great but it gets alot better in the album. It also is a song that can be loved by almost every genre.
Love Game - 10 - I love the lyrics and how sexual they can be. The production is orgasmic, one of my faves on the album.
Paparazzi - 8.5 - This song is great, it reminds me of umbrella because of the papa papa paparazzi lol. I like how it is mellow and a bi psycho at the same time.
Beautiful, Dirty, Rich - 11 - I didn't like this song until I heard the HQ version, the chorus is killer, and the middle eight is great. Dirty Rich boys and their beauiful dirty rich toys. LOL <3
Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) - 8.5 - This is a grower, I like it but I like it even more the more I hear it. This is the only element of the album that reminds me of Gwen. The lyrics are alot like 'Cool'.
Poker Face - 11 This song is ORGASMIC. At first I was like WTF, but the second time I just fell in love with the production and vocals. The bridge is AMAZING. The vocal production reminds me a bit of Britney's Toy Soldier.
The Fame - 9.5 - The lyrics of this song is what I love, I also lve the upeatness of the production. For some reason parts of it remind me of 'Funkytown' lol!
Money Honey - 8.5 - The chorus is what saves this song, it is undeniable. Again the production and vocals are <3.
Again Again -8- This song is very different from the rest of the album...it reminds me a bit of Sarah Bareilles...it's refreshing though!
Boys Boys Boys - 11 - This song is what made me fall in love with this album, it is my fave on the album along with Pokerface, I Like It Rough and Beautiful Dirty Rich. I like the demo more though, but the album version is still extremely magical!
Brown Eyes - 8 - Probably my least favorite on the album, but it is still good. This is the closest thing on the album to a slow song...but just ebcause it is my least favorite doesn't make it not great.
Summer Boy - 8.5 - this track is very funk inspired, I like it...the chorus saves this one from being boring. It is very 80's Beach Boys I don't know how to explain it.
I Like It Rough - 11 - This song is the biggest grower ever, I f***ign love it. The arrangement the vocals, EVERYTHING is in your face and peeeerrrrfect.

OVERALL ALBUM RATING: 9.5

This album is probably my favorite album after Britney's Blackout and on the same level of greatness as In The Zone. Which is saying something for me because no other albums have come close to touching them. I can see wh people would either love it or hate it, but every track strikes a chord with it. LOVE.

Been playing this album on repeat all day, love all the songs bar 'Summerboy', 'Brown Eyes' & 'The Fame' but even they are still good.
I think 'Beautiful, Dirty, Rich' could be a huge hit here in the UK if promoted well.

the new tracks from the USA edition of the album have leaked."Paper Gangsta" and "starstruck" featuring space cowboy and flow rida. Both ace!

"paper gangsta" is a mid tempo piano pop song but half way through the synth really comes through and it blows up. Her vocals are flawless.

"Starstruck" is all vocoded and has this electro RnB thing going on. It sounds so modern yet has this 80's vibe all at the same time. Could be a single in the states fer sure.

There's no chance of top 5. It's predicted 20-25k, but it's doing better on iTunes than that prediction so it might get say, 35-40k... Top 10 hopefully.

I think she is getting the bulk of her promo via word of mouth TBH. Everyone that has bought the album has no doubt told their friends how great the album is or atleast certain tracks. If she can hit the top 40 on the Hot 100 next week she will get alot of radio adds...hopefully meaning more sales.

'The Fame' is the third single in Australia (a current TV tie-in is part of the reason for that I'm sure). Internationally I'm not so sure. Everything is so uneven with the UK/US one release behind. I suspect Canada will get 'The Fame' too and then US/UK third single (following 'Poker Face') and OZ/CA 4th single will most probably be 'Starstruck'. Thus meaning the UK/US never gets 'The Fame' as a single...well perhaps a 6th single is things last that long lolz.

No, that only applies to songs that are released soon-ish. When they playlist a song that's still very far away from the release date it usually debuts on the Upfront list, and rightfully so. It'll be A-listed eventually.

It grew on me after BJSCVII, and then it just missed out on points in TBO:BJSC, and i now officially love it

Why shouldn't she have chosen 'Poker Face' as second single Jonny? It's spent 4 weeks at #01 in Australia thus far. #01 in Canada. What would have given her a bigger hit on the album than it? o_o

'Brown Eyes' and 'Again Again' are two of the albums weakest and I assume Interscope think so too putting it at the end of the album. I'd expect one of 'Paparazzi', 'LoveGame' or 'Strarstruck' next. Or a re-release.

'Eh Eh' is a weird old choice for third single. Decent song but it's very summery. Perhaps that's why it's being released in Australia? I expect something different for the US/UK third. Mind you by the time we come round to the third single it WILL be summer. Gosh :s

I think 'Money Honey' would have been just as big as 'Poker Face'. It IS very similar to 'Just Dance' but then again so is 'Poker Face'. Just personal preference really. I don't think anything would have done as well as either of these two however...

There is not a cat in hell's chance 'The Fame' will be a single, and rightly so. I'd put money on the one or two remaining singles after 'Eh Eh' being 'Boys Boys Boys' and, if it gets to a fifth, 'Paparazzi'. They won't go with anything from the less electro, more summery side of the album.

Weekly digital track sales have set a new record, with 47.7 million sold in the U.S. between Dec. 22 – Dec. 28, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

That figure for Christmas week represents a 126% spike from the week prior, a likely reflection of consumers redeeming download gift cards or receiving MP3 players as gifts. The week’s top-selling digital song was Interscope artist Lady GaGa’s “Just Dance,” with 419,000 downloads.

Total digital track sales this year were 1,070,000,000 – up 27% from 2007, based on full year-end data.

All but two songs on Billboard’s Hot Digital Songs chart increased their sales by triple-digit percentages last week. During the corresponding week last year, ten songs on that chart sold more than 200,000 downloads; this Christmas week, 15 songs did so.

I do like this song, and I think it's an ok single choice but it's one of the more dated and cheesier sounding songs on the album I think.

Dear GOD I hope not. There are six single-worthy moments on there but they're too similar to all get a release - for example Money Honey alone would be single-worthy but after Poker Face and possibly Paparazzi it'd be MADNESS.

I think it's an Australian single only. I saw this on wikipedia like last week and month before it said The Fame was the 3rd single and there's gaga songs floating around everywhere. Where's the article confirming it as a the global 3rd single? Paparazzi should be the 3rd single, duh. She does sound very Gwen Stefanish, like a bit of an 80s reworking at its best

I don't think much of the remix, it's quite annoying to me. I usually like my remixes to still flow as a song so this is just too messy for me. I could see why people who are fans of this sort of thing like it though.
