Clip of a new song, 'Alejandro'.

Listen here:

Pretty good smile.gif

Posted by: RyanJL 25th September 2009, 09:01 PM

I cant get that to work but I've heard a snippet and from that I'm not quite sure.

It sounded messy at first but liked it when it got going.

Wait and see what full version is like I suppose.

Posted by: KKBL 25th September 2009, 10:40 PM

I like it,but think its for another singer.I dont think GaGa would write something like this for herself.

Posted by: BUY LOVEGAME 26th September 2009, 03:57 PM

Well it's stunning, RedOne produced, but it's not relevant to the Monster-esque theme GaGa had in mind so I doubt it'll be on the re-release. Probably just a practise round or interrupted recording attempt. laugh.gif Most likely for someone else.

Posted by: Slowpoke 27th September 2009, 03:48 PM

Where?

Posted by: RyanJL 29th September 2009, 10:08 PM

I am in love with this clip now.

SO hope its the single we get to hear on SNL!

Posted by: Theo Aloud 17th October 2009, 01:50 PM

Leaked in full. Apparantly will be included on the Japanese edition of TFM, retitled 'Alejandro'!! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Conor 17th October 2009, 05:28 PM

LOVE this already, miles better than 'Bad Romance', favourite thing ive heard from her since 'Pokerface'.

Posted by: J-o-e 17th October 2009, 05:31 PM

Love it, sounds much better than Bad Romance.

Posted by: Chris. 17th October 2009, 06:22 PM

Edited first post so people can listen. smile.gif

Really love this song and I agree it's a lot better than Bad Romance.

Posted by: Cremey 17th October 2009, 07:36 PM

I LOVE this!

From what I've heard so far, I'll much prefer the tracks on 'The Fame Monster' than the regular album.

Posted by: ♫ Boyan ♫ 17th October 2009, 10:26 PM

GREAT track! TFM gonna be HOT!

Posted by: RyanJL 17th October 2009, 10:47 PM

LOVE it. So glad to finally get full track! biggrin.gif

Posted by: On Your Shore 18th October 2009, 06:41 AM

I love it. wub.gif wub.gif The Ace Of Base vibe is great, I was obsessed with them at one time. (I still listen to them)

Posted by: David 18th October 2009, 01:10 PM

This is a great song. Seriously. heart.gif

Posted by: Nick F1 18th October 2009, 01:49 PM

much much better than bad romance.

Posted by: Silver Rocket 19th October 2009, 03:30 PM

I just heard this, it's alright, I wouldn't say better than 'Bad Romance' by any means though.

Posted by: Tyler 20th October 2009, 03:55 PM

Her best song after Pokerface! ohmy.gif wub.gif

I've had this on repeat for two days! Like NOTHING I've heard before.

Posted by: Pavvii 20th October 2009, 04:04 PM

I really like it in places. But i think the whole song will grow on me. This is GaGa laugh.gif

Posted by: Pavvii 20th October 2009, 04:12 PM

Take back my words. I ADORE it on second listen.

Posted by: DirtySyko 26th October 2009, 05:54 PM

Love this, I can't believe I call myself a die hard Gaga fan yet I've only just heard this song for the first time today. >.<

Anyway, I love it! biggrin.gif I hope she releases this after Bad Romance but I don't think she will relaease a second single from The Fame Monster.

Posted by: Just Plain Steve 26th October 2009, 07:44 PM

Trust me she'll release anothe 3 single after BR IMO Monster is going to epic.

Posted by: Nate88 28th October 2009, 05:37 AM

yeh she said there are another 4 singles off the fame monster

Posted by: Slowpoke 28th October 2009, 02:46 PM

Stop wishing life away guys, you haven't even heard the other six tracks so how you can already be sure of the second single you want is beyond me...

Posted by: gooddelta 29th October 2009, 08:40 AM

love this on first listen (I know I'm late!), I agree with the Ace of Base comparisons, it reminds me of their cover of Don't Turn Around!

Posted by: bigzarafan 4th November 2009, 10:11 PM

Where have I been? Just discovered it today ohmy.gif Really liking it, but would not say it's better than BR

Bad Romance = best GaGa song so far

Posted by: RearWindow 10th November 2009, 05:00 PM

OMG THE ALBUM VERSION IS AMAZING!

Only bone to pick is that the track finishes too abruptly... It should fade out instead IMO

In disbelief, didn't think it could be improved! Tons better than the demo! wub.gif

Posted by: rossyboy88 10th November 2009, 07:42 PM

Dance in the dark is much better - it is superb!!!!

Posted by: Nate88 16th November 2009, 12:36 AM

the album version is different to the one that leaked before. its better (slightly different, sounds clearer too)

Posted by: DanielMiles17 24th November 2009, 02:16 PM

I went from thinking it was just plain average from the 30 second clip on iTunes to one of the best songs of 2009 within one listen of the full song. Amazing and on par with Teeth and Telephone for my favourite tracks from TFM.

Posted by: *Santa Ben* 10th December 2009, 05:53 PM

OMG I've fallen in love with Alejandro wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

Posted by: 300Mirrors 10th December 2009, 06:16 PM

Ooh, another convert heehee.gif

Alejandro was pretty instant for me, easily the best track from The Fame Monster wub.gif Actually, I think it's my favourite GaGa song, it just beats Paparazzi, I think

Posted by: JakeyShake 8th January 2010, 10:00 AM

Just read on The Sun website that Lady Gaga is casting the video for the single Alejandro.

I hope it's true, The Sun was correct about 'Paparazzi'

So isn't Speechless getting a release now, because I heard that would be a single.

But yay, "Alejandro" is better than Speechless, and so glad it will be a single w00t.gif

Posted by: FreeBit 9th January 2010, 04:36 PM

Maybe 'Alejandro' is actually the second single? GaGa hasn't actually stated it's the second single

GaGa said there would be 'four or more singles' from The Fame Monster

Posted by: PaulM1983 9th January 2010, 10:15 PM

Gagadaily have said that the Sun's story isn't true, and Gaga hasn't even thought about planning the 3rd single yet, so I wouldn't get too excited.

I'd prefer Dance In The Dark, the video could be epic.

Posted by: Doug_DVF 9th January 2010, 11:25 PM

that is a m a z i n g news! best on the fame monster. nice to know they've gone along with it, unlike the fame where they left the best track as an album track. rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Gboy 12th February 2010, 02:22 PM

Should have been 'Dance in the Dark'

Posted by: Propilot87 13th February 2010, 04:52 AM

I really do hope its Alejandro i think it could be a huge summer anthem, and it'd be perfect timing too as im sure Telephone will have started to fade by then, but part of me thinks it'll be Monster and even more so Speechless since she seems to be performing that at every high profile event lately.

cheer.gif my second fave on the album after DITD so hopefully that will be the 4th although I wouldn't mind speechless as a single any more. I've grown to like it after the dance on SYTYCD.

Posted by: Chriss_S 3rd March 2010, 10:04 PM

Wooo biggrin.gif I LOVE Alejandro! w00t.gif i really hope Dance In The Dark is the 4th single, its too good just to be an album track... but so is Monster :/ cry.gif

Posted by: Silver Rocket 3rd March 2010, 10:34 PM

YAY! I have grown to really love 'Dance In The Dark' so would ideally love to see that for after, I'd be fine with 'Monster' too though. Just not 'Speechless'. puke.gif

Posted by: bigzarafan 4th March 2010, 07:41 PM

I'm not a big fan of "Speechless", so I hope that doesn't become a single over something really good like "Monster", or something utterly amazing, like "Dance In The Dark" wub.gif

Posted by: rossyboy88 4th March 2010, 07:55 PM

Dance in the dark is the only sensible choice left for the UK. I don't think Alejandro will do well here. I hope they skip it.

ohmy.gif

"Dance In The Dark" would be a sensible choice, but "Alejandro" is just as amazing.

Tbh with people, I think "Telephone" is actually a weaker song. Just picked because Beyonce is on it.

Posted by: Paulo 4th March 2010, 08:33 PM

im gutted i wanted dance in the dark! i still cant stand alejandro!

Posted by: Jamieed 8th March 2010, 12:30 AM

I'd have loved it to be 'Dancing In The Dark' but I like 'Alejandro' happy.gif.
I'm unsure whether a 3rd Single will have much success though chart-wise.
Might do a lovegame and have a low-peak... so many people will own TFM by the time it's released, will have to wait and see thinking.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 8th March 2010, 01:58 AM

Alejandro in my opinion from buying the album is screaming out to be a single and i think if released in say may it could be a huge summer single, it has a huge summer vibe aabout it, i really hope its the next single as i also think it would give the album another major sales puch, i would have much prefered alejandro as a single over telehphone.

Posted by: rossyboy88 8th March 2010, 11:53 AM

They may change their minds - fingers crossed!

Posted by: cookie_monster 8th March 2010, 04:13 PM

I think Alejandro will go amazingly in the UK! I'm really glad to hear it is the 3rd single as it could be a huge summer anthem. If she has a 4th single, I think Monster or Dance In The Dark will both be equally good decisions.

Posted by: FreeBit 8th March 2010, 06:55 PM

'Alejandro' would do better than DITD based on album cherry-picking.

Posted by: Sinful 8th March 2010, 08:16 PM

I think 'Aeljandro' is more of a musical risk for GaGa, it will cater nicely to the European market while 'DITD' would suit the US market alot more. I hope she decides to split the release and release A in Europe and DITD in the US. Then we get DITD and the US get Monster =)

If we're going by that theory, 'Monster' would do better than both based on album cherry picking.

Posted by: Paulo 11th March 2010, 01:59 PM

I think Alejandro is more of a Nothing Else I can say Eh Eh song... will do well in Europe but the UK/USA Aus areas want the GaGa anthem pop... I would test Alejandro in Europe and maybe Australia like Eh Eh and then go for Dancing in the Dark in the USA and UK? But maybe thats just my love for Dance in the Dark and dislike for Alejandro!?

Posted by: Rain 11th March 2010, 02:02 PM

It's time for another midtempo so Alejandro is perfect IMO. smile.gif

'Dance In The Dark' is epic, and is exactly the electro-pop stomper that is what the US charts are about right now. 'Alejandro' is alot more Europop-tinged.

I agree with Tyler though. I think Alejandro is perfect for summer and if it has a Telephone-continued video set in Mexico it will be amazing.

Posted by: Sinful 13th March 2010, 09:44 PM

Well, like I said it might be a risk in the US, hopefully it will pay-off for her biggrin.gif

Yeah, a Mexico-themed video would be pretty amazing with a follow-on from Telephone.

Posted by: FreeBit 13th March 2010, 09:52 PM

I don't want a 'follow-up' video for ages... That would be too much of the same thing in a short space of time.

I think Alejandro was made for the US market. Do you realise that in some southern states of america, California and Texas to name some have 30%+ of the population speak spanish as a first language.

Posted by: Steve's A Mess 13th March 2010, 11:08 PM

i think she shouldn't continue from Telephone until the next era and have one every era which continues from the last. I imagined the Alejandro video set in cowboy ranch/village.

I think she should only have one of these 'epic' videos each album/era. It'd make it more exciting I think.

Posted by: Jamieed 13th March 2010, 11:19 PM

Even though 'Alejandro' video continuing from 'Telephone' where they escape to Mexico sounds good, I think it could be a few more songs/a new album until we get the next chapter, just like Paparazzi to Telephone.

Posted by: bigzarafan 13th March 2010, 11:26 PM

Ok, only one "story" video each era is fine, but all videos need to be EPIC. "Bad Romance" & "Telephone" are both epic videos, but are from the same era.

Exactly. And songs that are euro-tinged are huge in the US right now. Alejandro has a combination of many elements that would make it appeal to multiple markets.

Okay, calm down, I wasn't saying they weren't. blink.gif Well, 'Just Dance' and 'Love Game' aren't but I still love them lol.

I just meant I don't think she should have these big videos that follow on from one another constantly. She should just have one per era. 'Bad Romance' is an amazing video for example but doesn't have any dialogue and isn't too long either.

They really didn't do anything to it besides take a little bit of the "ohohohoh"'s out of the beginning, and some of the talking bits. I think it's a pretty good edit.

I think a continuation from 'Telephone' for Alejandro would be good. It would be good to keep this 'trilogy' within the Fame/Monster era, otherwise it would seem like she's back-tracking instead of moving forward.

Me too, I think they should end it then, it'd be a perfect trilogy. If they keep doing it per 'era' or album, it'd go on for too long and people would lose track of the storyline.

Anyways, Alejandro is perfect. Monster and DITD would of been strong choices too, but she's got an album full of possible singles so Alejandro is good enough.

Posted by: Sinful 16th March 2010, 10:01 AM

I'm thinking the theme of the video being that Lady GaGa doesn't necessarily want Alejandro, but she also doesn't want anyone else to have him, I guess my own interpretation of the 'Fear of Love Monster' within the song. I think that while GaGa's off sleeping with other men (Fernando, Roberto) she sees Alejandro canoodling with another wench, and so....plans a mass murder at their wedding =) Kill Bill style maybs? wink.gif

Don't worry, I think she'll at least have a 4th single from TFM

But I want that to be "Dance In The Dark" kink.gif

Posted by: cookie_monster 21st March 2010, 10:00 PM

I think they have made the right decision with Alejandro for the next single. It's easily more likable than many other songs on the album, it's catchy but not annoying and it's not in your face, but memorable. I do think (for the UK & Ireland, North America, Oceania and some of Europe that the singles should go:)

Bad Romance
Telephone
Alejandro
Dance In The Dark

But I think for Asia, South America and the rest of Europe should get 'Monster' as the 4th single instead of 'Dance In The Dark'

Im delighted its the next single as i love it, it shoudl be a hyge hit and hopefully a 5th UK number 1 for her.

Lady GaGa 'plans next music video'

WENN

Lady GaGa has reportedly chosen a director for her next video.

GaGa, who premiered the video for her current single 'Telephone' less than two weeks ago, is rumoured to already be planning her next video.

According to Styleite, the 23-year-old's video for up-coming single 'Alejandro' will be directed by fashion photographer Steven Klein.

Klein, who is best known for his advertising campaigns with Calvin Klein, D&G and Alexander McQueen, has also photographed Madonna and Britney Spears.

GaGa is currently holding the UK chart double, scoring number ones on the album and singles chart.

IMO she should've finished off this era with Telephone. Then take some rest.

For a third single, I'd rather have Monster than Alejandro.

Not if it's true that she's going to release her second LP at the end of the year. And she's on tour until September. GaGa is literally working herself to death, I just hope she doesn't burn out, or creatively drys up.

"Telephone" needed the video because the song isn't as great as GaGa normally is (in my personal chart, it got to #4 when it leaked, and #1 when the video came out), but "Alejandro" is amazing on it's own (already having two weeks at #1 in my personal chart). Still expecting a great video though, just not as good as the one for "Telephone"

I hope GaGa keeps up this trend of her first 2 singles off an album going to Number One in the UK, I'm loving it! I just wish she'd get to the top once again in the US =(

I don't think this will claim the top spot though, Top 5 is a lock. Is there much competition out at the moment? And I envision the video being set on the beach, in a luxurious mansion, with GaGa having fun with all three men in the song, before they all confront her at once and she falls of the balcony into a sea of naked men...never truly escaping her 'fear of love'. Poetic?

Lady GaGa 'denies new single axed'
Monday, April 5 2010, 20:54 BST

By Oli Simpson

Lady GaGa has dismissed rumours that new single 'Alejandro' has been scrapped in the US after poor feedback from radio station bosses.

The singer was alleged to have become embroiled in a row with her record label over the upcoming release. She wanted to issue the track ahead of the company's preferred song 'Dance In The Dark', Contactmusic reports.

The speculation was sparked following news that 'Alejandro' struggled to make an impact in other territories - entering the Canadian charts at number 78 and in Australia at number 49 - since its release earlier this month.

However, GaGa has now taken to Twitter to reassure fans that the track will be released, posting: "Alejandro is on the radio. F**k it sounds so good, we did it little monsters."

'Alejandro', the follow-up to her huge hit 'Telephone' with Beyoncé, is due out in the US on April 20.

To be fair, Telephone has done v. well in retrospect. It was getting airplay back in October (?) and by the time it was announced as the second single, with a video, everyone had pretty much heard it.

Posted by: Jamieed 6th April 2010, 10:53 PM

^ yes it did. I thought #1 was out of the question by the release because it had been around for so long.
But after the epic video the only place it deserved was #1.

Alejandro should be final single as beyond that will be too many for a small album like Monster, it won't sell well at all I don't think.

I do wish there was going to be a video for 'Dancing In The Dark' though, like the execs, I prefer it... but GaGa will do well w/e.

The record company just don't want to see this released. Their reasons were that it is struggling to do well everywhere, especially Canada and Australia. Do they actually know it's not to be released for about 2 months yet?

Anyway, Alejandro is summery. I wish the record company would just trust Gaga as she's obviously capable of carrying herself.

Lady GaGa has dismissed reports that her next single, Alejandro has been scrapped due to poor feedback from US radio stations.

The Telephone singer, who recently spoke about the new video for Spanish inspired track is alleged to have rowed with her record label over which song from her Fame Monster LP would be her next single after her label preferred Dance In The Dark.

Contactmusic reports that Alejandro has failed to make an impact in countries outside the US after it charted at a poor 78 in Canada and struggled to make the top 50 in Australia, entering the chart at number 49.

However, GaGa has insisted the track will be released posting on her Twitter page: "Alejandro is on the radio. F**k it sounds so good, we did it little monsters."

I think Alejandro is a great 3rd single, especially for the summer! And it's smashing already so it could be one of the biggest hits of the year - maybe her Poker Face type hit of the era. I think the 4th single, for the 4th quarter would probably be best as Monster (has a dark theme to it) or Dance In The Dark. I wouldn't mind which song is released as long as it's not Teeth - worst commercial choice on the album, although I think Alejandro is/was a bit risky so we'll see the final outcome biggrin.gif

Ajejandro is a good song but i want GaGa to go top ten and i dont know if this will or not. It might do a Lovegame. The Lyrics in Monster and Dance in the Dark are much better i think

I love Alejandro & DITD equally, and I'd love both to be singles, but if I could only pick one, I'd probably say "Alejandro" is the better choice for a single.

But I doubt "Alejandro" will do a "LoveGame". But it might not get to #1 - will probably be more like "Paparazzi".

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 23rd April 2010, 05:22 PM

ya i can see alejandro having a paparazzi style chart run with similar sales although probably a little bit less as the album has done so well it will reduce single sales.

Posted by: Eric_Blob 24th April 2010, 10:06 PM

Alejandro will do a lot better than the likes of LoveGame and Videophone, and probably better than Chillin' too. I think it'll chart slightly better than Paparazzi.

Alejandro becomes Lady Gaga's seventh top 5 hit in Australia. cheer.gif
Just Dance (1), Poker Face (1), Lovegame (4), Paparazzi (2), Bad Romance (2), Telephone (3)

1 JUST SAY SO Brian McFadden Feat. Kevin Rudolf
2 ALEJANDRO Lady Gaga
3 HEY, SOUL SISTER Train
4 WHATAYA WANT FROM ME Adam Lambert
5 I LIKE THAT Richard Vission & Static Revenger Feat. Luciana

Not gonna happen, that was already Bad Romance. As others have said, I think this is more likely to do a Paparazzi, and DITD to then do an undeserved LoveGame sad.gif

Posted by: Chris It Up 26th April 2010, 09:24 AM

I think it all depends on the video. Telephone was a pretty average song that, with a great video, become a hit.
Not expecting a #1 but I think could go top 3 but as others it will probably have a Paparazzi chart run.

Posted by: Steve's A Mess 26th April 2010, 03:01 PM

I see this era the same as the era with Poker Face, after all it is still The Fame, The Fame Monster is just a deluxe edition.

Posted by: FreeBit 26th April 2010, 07:57 PM

Video will come too late (again rolleyes.gif), of course it won't hit #1 anywhere.

Just performed on Idol! Stream was bit f***ed up but it sounded ok.

Will wait and judge HD version properly tongue.gif

Posted by: Jonjo 6th May 2010, 02:58 AM

Vocally it was really good. Musically, I still cannot see the appeal in the song myself. Especially that performance of it. It's odd. It's like the life had been sucked out of that song in that performance. It wasn't as "bouncy" as the version on her album and stuff.

Her performance on American Idol was such a disappointement ohmy.gif
Really, I'm SICK of listening to her playing the piano, it's like she has done it on every single performance, BORING.
The routine and the set up were quite cheap, not to talk about the vocals...

Oh, and basically she tried to do a "La isla bonita" part 2 with this performance. FAIL.

Just watched it again and you're so right ohmy.gif

Nothing on last years performance.

Posted by: Rain 6th May 2010, 12:25 PM

Idol murdered it with their edit. I really didn't think much of it when watching the live stream but the full performance is much better without them chopping down the choruses.

I did think the piano Bad Romance was totally unnecessary. She should have just stuck to Alejandro.

Posted by: Chriss_S 6th May 2010, 02:06 PM

I couldnt disagree more with all the comments above tbh. I thought it was an amazing performance wub.gif I LOVE the acoustic Bad Romance at the begining too heart.gif
Cant wait to see the video for this now wub.gif Its my favourite song off TFM smile.gif

Also.. does anyone know if there are any plans for any Alejandro TV promotion here in the UK? All I know is that she is in the country between May 27th and June 4th doing the rescheduled Monster Ball dates. smile.gif

Posted by: Tyler 6th May 2010, 03:19 PM

I thought the performance was decent... but nothing special.

Posted by: Aidan 6th May 2010, 04:48 PM

Her vocals were great. But I think the performance was quite boring, I was expecting more. Her performance last year of Poker Face is much better.

Posted by: TactiX 6th May 2010, 05:32 PM

Gaga seem bored. I think that her touring is taking a toll on her. sad.gif

Posted by: FreeBit 6th May 2010, 06:30 PM

OMFG. This perfomance was bloody divine! I can't believe people are saying it was bad, it was bloody amazing wub.gif f***ing loved every part of it, her Russian-esque accent, the dancing + choreography (and the naked dancers kink.gif), GaGa's and the dancers' outfits, the piano interlude... It was so much more exotic than the recording IMO, loved it. Sure it wasn't her best vocally, but she's been on tour since the start of the year non-stop. Didn't help when AI bloody butchered it, the edit they used was horrible. They took out loads piano, speech, the interlude and loads of lines ('Fernando...', 'Roberto...' ones + more)

Full UNCUT version, A MILLION TIMES BETTER. Watch it.

Posted by: thisispop 6th May 2010, 06:55 PM

^ A good performance, vocally very much in tune ... but lacking a bit of spark due to sheer fatigue/exhaustion of the last 18/24 months taking their toll.

As for the performance visual originality I can think of two famous performances by female icons she admires that she has clearly been inspired by:

Posted by: danieljohn. 6th May 2010, 07:09 PM

I'm so bored of the piano intros.

Posted by: RyanJL 6th May 2010, 08:37 PM

It annoys me that by doing the 90 sec Bad Romance intro we lost sections of Alejandro - which after watching the full thing was rather good.

Posted by: Propilot87 6th May 2010, 08:48 PM

I'm glad i'm not the only one who thought the piano intro was unnecessary...its just getting old watching her always play the piano whether it be at the beginning middle or end of the show...and im tired of these medleys or different song intros...just get out there an do the ACTUAL song you're supposed to do and stop trying to put as many songs into a 3 minute performance as you can!

It's number 16 on the Hot 100 and has been steadily rising for a while. It's going to jump high next week though, as it's now moved up to number 6 on iTunes and will be higher by the weekend I think.

On the subject of the performance, I adored it, but only the full length edit. I liked the vocal, it was good and clean, and the dancing in the final chorus was good. Also, she looked great, and as if she was really enjoying herself. She even smiled a few times. thumbup.gif

But that’s just for sex. Gaga’s devotion to, and promotion of, every aspect of gay culture is legendary. Bisexual herself, while her musical education might have been classical, her cultural education was homosexual, and comes to a head in the video for her forthcoming single, Alejandro.

Sprawled across the banquette, in a mood of eager excitement, Gaga shows me stills from the video shoot on her BlackBerry.

She’s dressed as Joan of Arc, with a ferocious Purdey haircut. To be honest, I can’t see much more than that, because she’s a bit pissed and her thumbs keep getting in the way.

The video is about the “purity of my friendships with my gay friends”, Gaga had explained, earlier. “And how I’ve been unable to find that with a straight man in my life. It’s a celebration and an admiration of gay love – it confesses my envy of the courage and bravery they require to be together. In the video I’m pining for the love of my gay friends – but they just don’t want me.”

We look at the photo on her BlackBerry again.

“I’m not sure about my hair,” Gaga says, suddenly, staring at the BlackBerry.

I agree with you that it's her weakest single, but I think 'Speechless' wouldn't have done well in the charts, and I think a lot of her fans got slightly bored or annoyed with it after she performed it everywhere when 'The Fame Monster' was first out.

I think the next single should be 'so happy I could die', it's the danciest song on the album imo and would be good for late summer. that or 'monster'. I don't get the love for 'dance in the dark' though - it's rather dull and the spoken bit gets on my nerves.

Dancing in the dark or specchless are the only 2 left worthy of being singles, personnely i prefer speechless but i think overall it wouldnt matter which was released as both would probably just do ok as the album has sold so huge and the album has also been well drained of singles.

Im looking forward to hearing something brand new from lady gaga and it will be interetsing to see what direction she takes on her next studio album.

Rumored Alejandro leaked Storyline: Be Warned Mega Spoilers:

I know this because my aunt’s in it. Ok the video is a cross of Alejandro and Dance in the Dark, it starts off with Gaga and she is in a black room and she is just doing vocals then all of a sudden she screams ALEJANDROOOO sooo loud its scary and there is so much thunder and two guys with a bowl hair cut come and grab her (here she has long hair) and they are like ripping her clothes off and hitting her.

Then it cuts to the funeral and Gaga is dead and dance in the dark is playing at the funeral but it is a remix of dance in the dark and it sounds more like Alejandro, there is like soft violins and gagas voice sounds different, and it isnt all of dance in the dark it is only the “Marilyn, Judy, Sylvia” part and its about 1 minute long and then Gaga’s eyes all of a sudden open up and she is walking and it cuts to this room.

She is making love with a guy and the guy stops her and leaves and he starts making out with a guy (THERE ARE LOTS OF GAY PEOPLE) and then Gaga is screaming and crying then she is running from Alejandro because she doesnt wanna be with Alejandro (ALEJANDRO IS REALLLLY SEXY) and eventually Fernandro and Roberto are chasing her and the song starts, she falls in love with all these guys but they turn out to be gay, There is like an Army of guys too and eventaully Alejandro grabs Gaga and it shows her raping her and killing her again and then Gaga comes and she has gray hair and se is a ghost and my aunt is on too!

My aunt is shown from minutes 6:20 - 7:04 and its just a dance scene and this is like an extension of Alejandro and its remixed and Gaga is dancing like crazy and at the end she wakes up from the dead, and we see Gaga and she is putting black roses on top of Alejandro’s grave, and Fernando and Roberto and beside her and Fernando and Roberto kiss, and purple tears come out of Gagas eyes! And the entire video is black and white except the purple tears.

ITS SOOOOOOO SCARY i dont believe it I felt like throwing up in the rape parts because they are literally graphic is shows the guy like go down ontop of gaga meaning he puts his private in hers and it shows gaga screaming and it shows blood in that part on her and on her hands and whenever she says Alejandro they changed it so it sounds like shes crying.

That sounds scary and a bit too much, I really like the idea of that but I hope they don't show closeup of her getting raped. That would just seem a bit unnecessary imo :|

Posted by: Silver Rocket 7th June 2010, 11:27 PM

That could be amazing, I'm sure they know what they're doing and won't fall onto the wrong side of something that heavy and controversial.

Posted by: PaulM1983 7th June 2010, 11:40 PM

That has been confirmed as fake over at Popjustice. He's seen it and simply described it as amazing.

However, that desciption sounds absolutely amazing, minus the rape parts - that's possibly a bit much, even for Gaga.

Posted by: Jamieed 8th June 2010, 12:24 AM

I'd never have thought the video would be like that from the teaser.
Sounds a bit graphic, like sound of DITD Remix though.

It's all a bit random really. Like all GaGa's dramatic videos it's all a bit confusing for me!
I'm sure there is a storyline in there somewhere! laugh.gif
The last second is particularly wtf?!

Posted by: bigzarafan 8th June 2010, 04:11 PM

I was kind of a bit disappointed. I wish they'd kept stopping and starting the song a la "Telephone", or added more story, a la "Paparazzi", but this music video just extends the song too much, and I don't really get it.

like everyone else i don't really get it but still it's immense!

Posted by: RyanJL 8th June 2010, 04:15 PM

Being perfectly honest it's just a bit wtf. I don't think I like it but with GaGa I'm never quite sure lol.

Not a video I want to watch again like I did with Telephone straight away.

I wish they'd just made a 4min video tbh.

Hmm...not a massive fan either to be honest and agree with the general sentiment here.

In one part of the video where it's black and white and she's dancing with her much shorter blonde hair than usual, I can't help but be reminded of a similar scene in the video to The Sign by Ace of Base. The song's not exactly a million miles away from it either kink.gif

Somebody on another forum I used has given a clear insight into the video.. And I think its beautiful.

QUOTE
Gaga is the commander of this army. The video starts with Gaga and her troops mourning the loss of one of the soldiers. You see her training them, etc. Toward the end, you see how one guy didn't like what was going on and was the cause of the violence that you see going on (which killed the soldier they're mourning at the beginning). So essentially, she's training them to go out and fight for their freedom.
Added with this:

Posted by: Bert for Lashes 8th June 2010, 04:59 PM

I fully agree with the previous comments. It's like she has done 8 minutes because she wanted a 8 min video, not because the song, the concept or the scenario required it.
Some of the extended bits are visually very repetitive, that's why I don't get it. And although the video as a whole is good, this was not necessary.

In short, the video would have been great in her initial length. Now it's far too long. I don't think I will watch it dozens of times like for "Telephone". "Telephone" was like 10 minutes long but it sounded like 3 minutes, therefore it was brillant.
The short/TV edit might make it like it more.

Maybe subconsciously i do think that such video is too bad for GaGa, but would be good some other 'lower level' artist... But i believe that it's not the main reason. The conception is far too complicated for my i-like-the-obvious-things mind sad.gif A little bit try-hard too. She could've done it in a simple manner like she used to. Telephone video was epic but she should've done this 8-minute 'epicness' with the 4th single!

^ a good point. I'm a big GaGa fan and I'm not really liking this. It's ok, but it's very self-indulgent. Telephone and Paparazzi might be seen that way too but somehow the song warranted it. Also the whole "epic" video was new, this seems to be 8mins for the sake of it.

Not the most commercial of videos. I love the concept and the cinematography but it's all VERY esoteric and does run the risk of coming off as being self-indulgent. I'm surprised every other person on here doesnt have a GIF of the video (Telephone)... But I didnt like it. At the end of it I was just like... 'Um... ok... what did i just see?' and it was too long. For a music video to be that long you need to have a CLEAR storyline or something exciting to keep the audience paying attention cos I found myself thinking about things I had done today when i watched it.

I agree with all of this.

The video is geared towards a very niche audience, but I'd much rather have something that is challenging and controversial, than a generic video of her dancing around with her past lovers on a beach. Some people don't like it as the video is not 'summery' and I find that sort of criticism shallow. She has moved past the days of generic videos like Just Dance and Poker Face, and it would be a step back if she ever went back to those kind of videos. As corny as it sounds, she's portraying her artistic vision, and even though as a result the video becomes esoteric (Google is my friend), I think she should be praised for it. I find it refreshing that we have a video that we can actually discuss in terms of symbolism, story and message.

EDIT:

Looks like Katy Perry didn't think much of it either.

Posted by: † AleKatherine † 17th June 2010, 06:05 PM

The US is definitely her biggest market, 8 consecutive top ten singles all of which should be certified Double Platinum. . If the UK were her biggest market the least they could do was keep her consecutive top 10 record but no LoveGame just had to peak at a horrific #19 despite decentish sales. . Australia, Canada and the US are biggest markets if you go do some research. .

Posted by: bigzarafan 17th June 2010, 06:23 PM

After looking at positions for her songs and albums on wikipedia, I don't see anything to say Australia, Canada & the USA are all bigger markets for her than the UK.

Australia/Canada/USA/UK
Just Dance - #1 #1 #1 #1 [1/1/1/1]
Poker Face - #1 #1 #1 #1 [2/2/2/2]
LoveGame - #4 #2 #5 #19 [2/3/2/2]
Paparazzi - #2 #3 #6 #4 [3/3/2/2]
Bad Romance - #2 #1 #2 #1 [3/4/2/3]
Telephone - #3 #3 #3 #1 [3/4/2/4]

The Fame - #3 #1 #2 #1 [3/5/2/5]
The Fame Monster - #1 #2 #5 #1 [4/5/2/6]

"Chillin" also got higher in the UK than the other three countries, and "The Remix" album got higher in the UK than Canada & Australia, but I dunno if it got a US release. Not included "Eh Eh" as it didn't get a UK release, or "Alejandro" as it's still climbing in the UK. Not saying the above is a proper way of showing her bigger markets, as I probably wouldn't put the US after Canada, Australia & the UK, but if you look at peak positions for her songs and albums, they've done better in the UK.

Posted by: Slowpoke 17th June 2010, 07:06 PM

Include Ireland in that chart, humour me.

Posted by: † AleKatherine † 17th June 2010, 07:21 PM

Peaks are a very inaccurate way of representing what her biggest market is. For example Bad Romance may have peaked at only number 2 in Aus and the US but how many weeks at number 2 and in the top 10 in comparison to the UK did it have where it peaked at no.1, almost all her singles have went top 5 in Canada and Australia and all her singles have went top 10 in the US. The only thing that shows the UK is her biggest market is the amount of #1s she's had in comparison. And that is a poor argument no matter what way you look at it because based on sales, weeks in top ten and top forty, certifications and consistancy in success from one single to the next - the UK does fall short. It is much more easier to get a #1 in the UK than US, charity singles never go #1 in the US do they. . She has two singles in the top 10 best selling digital songs of all time in the US! Enough said!

Posted by: bigzarafan 17th June 2010, 07:38 PM

I won't keep on, and I guess I'm bias towards the UK since it's my country, but after looking at "The Fame/The Fame Monster" album sales in the UK, USA, Canada & Australia, and looking at the population of each country, it has sold more copies in the UK per person than in the other countries. I could admit that the USA is her biggest market, but I don't believe that the UK is 4th or lower when it comes to her biggest markets.

She hasn't had an 8th top 10 in the USA yet, only the 7 singles.

I would've liked DITD to be released, but at the same time I'm sort of glad it'll remain an album gem, so to speak. Even though just about everyone has heard it anyway. laugh.gif Alejandro is fantastic enough though, so for that to be the final single is ok imo. biggrin.gif Seriously can't wait for the next single though!

alejandro for me is an ideal finish to the the fame era,and its doing quite well considering how big the album has sold, in the latest midweeks its #7 this week.

I don't hate the video, it's just blank and the song deserved a better video. I am positive they could have came up with better had they actually tried and made the effort.

You can't be serious. I don't understand how you can look at that video and think that there was no trying, and no effort put into it. That's ludicrous. The video may not be to everyone's taste, but a lot of people, me included, find it striking, haunting and beautiful. An it clearly had some considerable thought behind it.

So many people have mentioned how they expected a summery, bright and cheerful video for this, but that doesn't make sense. The song isn't bright and cheerful. I think the mood of the video fits perfectly. It's dark and sombre, which is what I was hoping for all along.

I adore this video, just as much as I loved Bad Romance and Telephone when they came out.

Posted by: seejayjee 29th June 2010, 09:03 AM

When the Bad Romance and Telephone videos premiered I watched them on repeat many many times. Alejandro has not had that same "once you pop you can't stop" effect on me. I'm trying to work out why. I think it's because the length is unecessary, there's a lot of repetition of the same parts of the song which I find boring and don't understand the reasoning for. As a piece of pop art it's interesting and visually intruiging but as a pop music video, it doesn't work. Just my opinion.

Posted by: Aphrodite 29th June 2010, 04:21 PM

With the midweeks in its looking highly unlikely alejandro will go top 5, still it has done well and has alot of sales left in yet regardless if it goes top 5 or not.

Posted by: Lukuzz 29th June 2010, 04:36 PM

I do love the song, but tbh Its nowhere near her strongest and imo Top 10 is all it deserves

DITD, Speechless and Monster are all better imo!

Posted by: Aphrodite 29th June 2010, 06:47 PM

i love speechless but for me aljenadro was the right choice of single, alejandro is also boosting album sales again which is great news, i really think the fame monster has a good chance of eventually getting to 3 million UK sales.

Posted by: Silver Rocket 29th June 2010, 11:58 PM

I'd have REALLY hated 'Speechless' to get released. After this I'd only really say 'Dance In The Dark' or 'Monster' deserve a single release from what's left.

I know we're not getting one so it's a slightly irrelevant point, but 'Speechless' is easily the worst on there.

Posted by: Aphrodite 30th June 2010, 12:39 AM

I didnt like speechless at first but it really grew on me, its one of the album highlights for me now.

Posted by: PaulM1983 30th June 2010, 07:22 AM

I only like Speechless live. The album version is a little too country twee for my taste. The only other song that could have been a single was DITD in my opinion.

However, I think Alejandro has done amazingly well. She really is selling records like no other artist at the moment. I too think she'll eventually hit 3 million for the album in the UK, but it's just amazing that 2 million already own it and yet every single continues to sell very well in these days of poor single sales.

Posted by: Jonjo Gleek 30th June 2010, 09:52 AM

All this 'Speechless' hate, from people who seem to adore 'Alejandro', is depressing me laugh.gif

sad.gif

Posted by: bigzarafan 30th June 2010, 04:01 PM

Speechless should only get a release if there were going to be 7 singles from the Monster version of the album laugh.gif The only thing worse IMO is Teeth

Posted by: Aphrodite 30th June 2010, 04:20 PM

Alejandro is doing well on the whole, and im sure it will manage 250,000 - 300,000 sales in the UK which is great considering its from an album that has sold so much.

Posted by: cookie_monster 1st July 2010, 11:26 AM

I think 'So Happy I Could Die' is underrated. But I still don't think it's as epic as the monsterous 'Dance In The Dark.'

This has peaked at #1 in a few countries now. I think the UK has given it a pretty dire peak to be honest.

As for the video, the whole video is a bit much, but the edit 4Music use which cuts down the unnecessary ending whilst keeping all the controversial bits! I much prefer this version as 'Don't Call My Name, Don't Call My Name, Alejandro' doesn't get repeated a million times.

I was always Team Alejandro to be a single back in 2009/10.

Such a summery smash.

I’ve grown to love the video as well over time too but at times I do wish we got a brighter more summery video for it as the song is so vibrant. But this is an incredible song and the perfect era closer to the Fame Monster wub.gif wub.gif

Posted by: Hauspital* 16th April 2020, 05:02 PM

I was annoyed we didn't get DITD but this really was a clever move to release - it was gigantic across Europe! I like the video, but it definitely doesn't suit the song and its summery vibes. Hot like Mexico? More like COLD LIKE ANTARCTICA no.gif

I love the video! But I can see what you mean about it being more summery. Wish we got Monster / Dance In The Dark as a dual a-side for Halloween in 2010, she released BTW in 2011 - she had the time but then she was on a world wind tour.

10 years ago today, Gaga released "Alejandro" as the third single from The Fame Monster. It reached top 10 in over 25 countries and is certified 4x Platinum in the US. The music video was hugely controversial, combining religion with sex and featuring the infamous swallowing of the rosary beads. As her skull burnt out in the final image on the screen, so was The Fame Monster era ended. Gaga dedicated the music vdieo to her gay friends and fans. She stated that she admires and envies the strength of the gay community to live freely in the world we find ourselves in.

10 years on, what are your thoughts on the song?

Her gayest song, and love it! I also love the video, maybe even more now than back then.

This was a huge deal among the gay community in my country and one of her biggest hits here - It went #1, one of the very few countries iirc.

I can't believe it's been 10 years!

I still remember the song being everywhere on the radio in the summer of 2010. It was the first time I worked and my journey to and from work was replaying this song in the sun. I remember having BBQs with the family and playing this in my garden. I remember the controversy of the video and the monsters reading into every scene and moment and look.

I still absolutely LOVE the song - it hasn't aged a single bit! Happy birthday Alejandro, Fernando, Roberto et al cheer.gif

Not the stand out song of The Fame Monster but I think this has certainly stood the test of time! It stood out in the charts back in 2010 and would be successful in today's charts also. I can imagine today's Tik Tok girls lip-syncing the chorus including their various ex's instead of Fernando, Roberto etc. laugh.gif

Add me to the list of people who like this more today! Definitely stood the test of time, plus I have very fond memories of Summer 2010 so any music in the charts then has strong nostalgia value.

Just re-watched the video for the first time since... probably the Born This Way era! ohmy.gif I forgot that the song was extended, I really like it like that! It is very Madonna-circa-1990 inspired but I don't see that as 'reductive' or whatever, it looks very classy and stylish and Gaga puts a lot of her own personal stamp on it. Picking up on what you said about the video, Bal, I actually think the song suits the icy, dark theme, which is odd because I also think the song sounds perfect for the summer!

This did flop back in the day, but she could have saved it with Monster ans then DITD!

It was top 10 in over 20 countries, it was a huge hit, what are you talking about? unsure.gif

This is actually her 3rd biggest hit in Finland, after Poker Face and Bad Romance. Shallow could be up there too now with its longevity though.

That's the peoblem - just top 10!! DITDD and Monster could have been long running top threes and no.1s EVERYWHERE!!! Telephone and BR were yuge no.1s. Alejandeo was a big step down from that and looked kinda floppy in comparison.

But what if Victoria Beckham had jumped on the remix??

Posted by: HausofKubrick 27th August 2023, 12:10 PM

It was a huge success and was everywhere that summer. For a 3rd single it did incredibly well and is still fondly remembered to this day.

Yes she could've also released Monster and DITD but that doesn't take away from the success of this!
