The article is in French, it gives this info:
- 4-Track Maxi Picture Disc Vinyl released on July 23rd, it also mentions a Cassette
- Digital release on July 9th
Track list:
Side A
'Wannabe' (Original Radio Edit) (02:53)
'Wannabe' (Junior Vasquez Remix Edit) (05:57)
Side B
'Wannabe' (Demo: Previously Unreleased) (02:58)
'Feed Your Love' (Previously Unreleased Song) (04:36)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would initially have dismissed this as being fan made... but then I remembered what the Greatest Hits vinyl release looks like, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is actually real.
Well, the less said about that art the better - but if we really are getting Feed Your Love, that's exciting!
Another thing that makes me feel like it's genuine is the split release date, because obviously it would be too much to ask for a coordinated release lol
surely not that pic lol
Does sound like them but I’ll be happy to get Feed Your Love on digital and vinyl !
Only excited for this because of Feed Your Love and Wannabe demo in good quality
I totally expected UMG would release the demo version of Wannabe in July. That's a no brainer. I'm really shocked if they release Feed Your Love on a Wannabe vinyl release. I expected UMG to use Feed Your Love to promote Spice 25.
If they release Feed Your Love now you wonder what’s coming as extra on Spice re-release ? Likely Stories/C U Next Tuesday is the only known song from the Spice sessions next to Feed Your Love that we haven’t heard am I right?
I was told 2 days ago UMC has a spice girls store thats gone live last week (it's locked right now) so this figures. I'd thought they might not bother with too much for Wannabe as it was getting close to release date but if it comes on the 23rd that makes sense.
There will be merch too on the UMC spice store.
The pic and design are by the by tbh, getting 2 new songs on streaming and digital platforms would be huge though for their legacy. Don't forget they have a tiny catalogue, 1 new song would account for like 2.5% of all their original material.
Oh God, nice to get FYL demo and the two formats but that artwork is absolutely horrible. I do wonder who gets paid for coming up with these ideas, and if they realise how out of touch from the fans' wishes the label actually is.
I just hope that if we get anything for 'Spice' it won't be on different dates.
I think it's more fans that are out of touch tbh. It's a pic from the original photoshoot, I mean if you look at Wannabes cover closely Geri looks like a demented 40 year old.
It's silver as it's Wannabe's 25th anniversary which is a silver anniversary. It looks dated and tacky but so would a lot of their releases now if you saw them for the first time with how you look at things today.
Really excited for Feed Your Love if true.
This is definitely official UMC are sending out mailers promoting it to journalist. A pre-order will be up soon I would expect.
I wonder why French sites are revealing this before the Spice Girls social media? They never get to officially announce anything first lol.
http://just-music.fr/wannabe-tube-spice-girls-vinyle/ this link includes an image of the vinyl inside the sleeve.
LOL at that vinyl
I do sometimes hate spice girls fans, you are getting the first new original spice girls song on physical and streaming formats in 14 years and all people care about is the font or picture.
I mean the vinyl and cassette are cheap cash ins, you'll stick them on a shelf. The new song will increase their discography and be on streaming for years to come, it's a big thing.
It could be a pic of geri's white vibrator and it's still an amazing release.
PS I'm not bothering to buy it because it looks crap, maybe if they put the effort in I would have done.
I don’t think it’s a bad thing for fans to want/expect items that have better quality control & more care put into them. You’d never get an ABBA or Queen reissue that looks like that... that is my frustration.
I’m the sort of fan who buys anything, so I’m probably part of the problem, but still... I think it’s fine for me/others to express disappointment with it aesthetically, and I definitely don’t think there has to be a “be grateful for what you’re given” angle here. I don’t think UMC cares what we think about it anyway, they’ll make cash regardless. Fans can be honest with each other. It looks really tacky.
But yes, the main aspect of this release that I am looking forward to & definitely grateful for is Feed Your Love.
I can't be bothered to find the zillion posts on here about wanting them to open the vaults, they do so and it's 'but it's not the pic I wanted in the crayon colour I used to colour in with'.
Just don't buy it if you think it's ugly, stream it or download, that's my point this isn't just about what it physically looks like. It's expanding a tiny discography. That new song and demo will basically account for 5% of their non remix material.
I'm not saying anyone has to be positive if you don't like the cover but if you aren't going to download and stream the song then why are you in this forum? If you are going to then you have something new to look forward to.
I actually quite like the design. It's definitely not their best, but everything looks good after the Headlines and GH covers
Being critical of aspects of the product is a separate thing to being happy that they’re giving us an unreleased demo via it!
Anyway I’m ready to throw my cash at it 🥴 Bring on the preorder announcement!
Yeah sorry that cover art is awful they could’ve kept it easy and kept the original cover adding a silver spice ring with 25 on it and it totally looks better. That doesn’t mean I’m not grateful we get Feed Your Love and Wannabe demo. Fans are allowed to be critical we are not in Russia.
GUYS it's a celebration and the art work is totally 90s style, specially totally 90s Spice Girls style. It makes total sense to me they went with this. Is it perfect? No, but who cares....
WANNABE DEMO AND FEED YOUR LOVE?!?!?!?!? I WILL BUY TWO COPIES PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!!
I am really really surprised and thankful they decided to include those two unreleased tracks. It is exactly what fans have been demanded for 20 years and FINALLY they got over themselves.
VERY VERY HAPPY FAN TODAY!!!
(I know this is becoming a contentious issue) but the design of it isn’t giving me authentic 90s style at all (obviously the picture of them does, the design around them does not). But that’s just my feeling.
6 weeks tomorrow and we’ll hear Feed My Love! 🤭🤭
I am thankful and delighted.
Like, this is literally what we have been asking for, so I will take it even if the design isnt the best. It's good enough for me and now I AM SUPER EXCITED for the Spice anniversary!!
LOL, if this is true, that picture is... a choice to say the least. Mel C doesn't even look like herself in it.
But yes, if we finally get the Wannabe demo + Feed Your Love, then I'm quite happy because it's a lot more than I ever expected from them tbh.
Where is Melanie C in the pic?
Guys, look at us in Spiceworld again In 2021 DURING A PANDEMIC!!
Like, 4 years ago this all seemed really impossible ever again, and look at us now. Technically a whole new era is about to kick off again and we are about to get:
- NEW OLD UNRELEASED MATERIAL
- A NEW VINYL AND CASSETE AND DIGITAL DOWNLOAD
And we never thought it would happen. Some of us wondered and dreamed about getting a vinyl release for Wannabe but recently we had kind of given up on that idea and mostly expected to just get an announcement around this date for an Autumn re-release of Spice.
Now it looks like we will get the above AND also this:
- A special celebration of the 25th anniversary of Wannabe around its release date (mentioned by fans and hinted by the girls)
- Potential for the girls to give interviews (lol I was going to write performances as well but lets be real.....)
- Wannabe potentially back in the charts in July
- Announcement of 'Spice' album 25th anniversary celebrations and re-release, potential with more unreleased music and various formats to purchase
- 2022 Tour announcement
Plus, rumours of new music and the animated film.
It's a great time to be a Spice Girls fan!
This is great for wannabe plus it should mean we will see the spice girls back in the singles chart for the first time in a long time.
Someone can criticize the vinyl cover and still be grateful for the release. Saying someone is ungrateful just because they criticize the cover is beyond silly.
I never said the word ungrateful, all I said is look at the bigger picture. Fans have been demanding unreleased songs for 20 years, it could come wrapped in shit and it would still be great.
So it won't look amazing gathering dust on your shelf or in a box however you'll be able to stream a new spice girls song in 6 weeks for the rest of your life.
Anyway official announcement tomorrow, universal have a spice girls store live locked ready to go, there will also be merch.
If it is easy to find, I might buy since I was born when it was number 1!
But why no Woman?
Spice is already signed off by the girls so that's definitely happening.
HMV are doing an exclusive Spice vinyl (as part of their 100 year anniversary) with an alternative cover, so that will give everyone something to moan about too.
I wish they'll do "Official Store Exclusive" stuff. (individual 5 cover of cassettes would be best!)
but in realistic, they're going to sell that design of hoodie or shirt.
I can't wait to hear Geri's rap in Feed Your Love. So excited.
I hope they'll include the b-sides on special cd edition of Spice. I'm not sure if I'll get the vinyl Wannabe tbh (although part of me finds it very hard to resist not to).
Although is this 100% confirmed yet?
^Still not officially confirmed! Just a couple of French press releases so far. I’m perched for the official announcement, I’ll keep refreshing their Twitter
My only niggle about the track list is the Junior Vasquez remix inclusion, which is just the remix found on the 2 Become 1 CD single. I’d have liked Wannabe (Vocal Slam Edit) which was never commercially released.
Ugh give me the official announcement!
I really thought we’d get an announcement today, but no
It was supposed to be today, wonder what's happened? Hopefully it isn't the negative reaction to the cover on Spice circle delaying it while it's changed in some way.
Hhhmmm I mean it wouldnt be the first time they change the dates of announcements cos somehow the news leaked before (hey Spice World Tour 2019 )
But I doubt it is cos of the design. And it is probably already too late anyway to change that. Changing dates is easier than changing dates AND changing the whole design of a project too... That would mean weeks of delay and the vinyl production sites already require quite a long time to produce them as well... SO all of that would be affected..
Surely it will be next week. We have like 6 weeks, it's fine!
What if that French press release was just a hoax?
I hope not It would be a very elaborate hoax!
There is a Universal Music Store page for Spice Girls that shows up as being password protected if you try to access it https://store.universalmusic.com/spicegirls which seems like a good indication to me that something is coming. If you type in other random artist names you can think of (assuming they don't have a store already) it shows this message instead: "Page Not Found. It looks like the page you've requested is not available." which suggests a Spice Girls page exists but is being withheld from us for the time being...
UMC constantly monitor Spice Circle as do the girls team. Vinyls don't take ages to make there is just huge demand and so few plants that make them. It's not like it takes 8 weeks to produce them that's just where they are in the queue of Vinyls to be made.
As I already said UMC has a spice girls store ready to go with merch too as Jay post shows. Just for some reason it all didn't go live and happen yesterday it could be something simple like a technical issue.
It's a holiday weekend in the U.S. They will probably announce the Wannabe vinyl release on Tuesday, June 1.
Yeah same in the UK, it's actually very hot here too. They may have felt better to wait till after the bank holiday weekend. I read UK pubs were expecting to serve 42 million pints this 3 day weekend. If there isn't an announcement Tuesday I'd start to worry.
What tf is Spice Circle?
I must be the only one who thinks that there’s nothing wrong with the picture chosen or the font. I’m just so happy if this reallly materialises.
Seems it might have been pushed back as it's bank holiday and Friday originally was 8 weeks of pre-orders but no one in office or to sort any issues till Tuesday so pushed back till then.
But the bank holiday wasn’t yesterday but Monday so no excuse to postpone it yesterday?
Well, is it confirmed? Can be a fake news?
If this isn't announced tomorrow something has gone wrong, feeling nervous as it was all set and ready Friday just gone.
I really hope it's not fake news.
It's definitely not fake news, you can see the password protected universal spice girls store that Jay linked and the press release to French media is from Universal.
The store has to be manually unlocked so it needs someone actually at work.
Merch that will be there could be anything but I'd expect more hoodies and tshirts (though universal are much better on price) and anything else a bonus.
The picture disc and cassette might not be the only formats there was talk of maybe UK exclusive ones too.
I really hope the store does go live today, I’m ready to throw my money at them...!
Starting to think this was all fake 😭
I’d be here for any new songs being a part of the release. Ones that weren’t on the original album.
Is it normal for acts to announce things on a tuesday though? Any releases Ive seen often get announced Weds or Thursday and go live on Friday....
^ Funnily enough their social media first mentioned the Spiceworld and Greatest Hits vinyl reissues on a Tuesday - https://twitter.com/spicegirls/status/1224671456094826497
I’m nervous 😬
Doesn't look promising that it'll come today, it's getting late...
Yeah today's not the day for sure. Maybe tomorrow or Thursday?.......... Doubt it will be on Thursday as it would be competing with many others who will announce their then...
Gosh, it's never easy with these girls, is it??!?!!
Maybe Mel C changed her mind and decided that 'bsides are ACTUALLY bsides for an ACTUAL reason' and now we wont get anything new
UMC not happy about the French press leak, going a different route with it now. Hoping to make a big moment of the announcement now hopefully involving the girls if possible. Instead of going for a longer pre-order going for very close to the anniversary maybe even the day of it if they can get the girls involved.
Not sure it's what I'd do but I think they feel they've lost the element of surprise so going to use the hype close to the anniversary. I mean if they can can get the girls involved then fair play and it might turn out great, it's likely to have not much more than 2 weeks pre-orders now though.
Lol this supposed release is giving me anxiety
Yeah I'm not sure their team or Universal really truly know how to deal with them and how to go about releasing things. It's still a let's try and make everything a surprise approach which I think in 2021 just doesn't work.
The good thing about social media is an artist can build hype and excitement with hints, teasing and so on. Where as right now you absolutely would have no idea if anything was happening or coming in July. It doesn't build confidence or excitement in fans.
It's just stupid if they're freaking out about the French press release leaking out too soon. Most casual fans won't have paid any attention and I don't think there's been any big media coverage from it?
I mean, the One Touch re-release was rumoured for over a year and a half when it was announced. It didn't lessen any impact and I'm sure that they'll get coverage with or without the girls participating (which is the main thing with the announcement anyway - to drive up pre-orders).
Yeah it makes no sense to delay it any further, but alas...
I rewatched Wannabe tonight (and, yes, the ghost IS in the video too!!), and is it my imagination or does VB not sing a single note and just dance out of step in the backgeound, only to pretend at the end that she is singing Mel B's, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta, slam, slam, slam, slam bit?? I thought for years that it was VB singing that bit, as the camera focuses on her as she mimes to it!! That was the first impression of the band too. No wonder the press hated her after that and said she didn't sing.
Finally a bit of progress, some links are appearing on various Amazon country sites - not purchasable yet though.
Amazon ES - https://www.amazon.es/dp/B092P3SY44/
Amazon FR - https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B092P3SY44/
Amazon SE - https://www.amazon.se/Tbc/dp/B0915Q8WXM
Here's the link to the cassette on Amazon UK (not purchasable yet) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0915Q8WXM - and funnily enough it's been hiding in plain sight for 51 days - this link was created on 12th April 🤯 and rather alarmingly the history of its price is £12.99 lol - hopefully it won't really be that expensive because that's incredibly pricey for a cassette single.
On Amazon Japan it can actually be pre-ordered now: https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Spice-Girls/dp/B092P3SY44 + https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/TBC/dp/B0915Q8WXM - it gives a date of July 23rd for the vinyl, but July 9th for the cassette.
I honestly think they have no idea how to go about releasing these. I'm sure they wanted the age old 90s approach of a surprise but it's 2021 and these things always get out now early.
Instead as soon as it was signed off they should have been teasing it and building hype on social media. Imagine if a couple of weeks ago they had tweeted a feed your love lyric and wink face with a 96 throwback pic.
Instead they missed the Friday launch, now it's on amazon and no doubt they will start rethinking again and bring it forward again because they forgot to push back it from appearing on Amazon too.
I suppose it wouldn't be a Spice Girls release if there wasn't some chaos lol
The cat is well and truly out of the bag, their team really should announce it asap and go live with the pre-orders. There's no point in wasting time... get those 5 weeks of pre-orders.
The paranoid part of me worries that they hadn't properly gotten the girls permission to release Feed Your Love and now one of them are blocking it...
I wouldn't be surprised if they announce the pre-order on Tuesday, June 8. Exactly one month before the anniversary. If the vinyl isn't physically being released until July 23, then six weeks is plenty of time for pre-orders.
oh all links of amazon images are updated.
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81axLXQM-cS._AC_SL1500_.jpg
They have to announce it today if the images are updated, right?
I like the silver glitter cassette the cover is a little bland but it's different to the vinyl, I was just expecting a copy of the vinyl for the cassette.
I'm hoping they just go for it and announce it today and the store go live today. There is just no point waiting I feel.
The cassette pic is on the UK Amazon listing too.
I don't understand the casette design. It's ugly there is no point to buy this.
Wannabe cassette now removed from Amazon UK...
I'd love to know what's going on behind the scenes. I get the impression that they're panicking, which seems really unnecessary to me.
It amazes me how you can screw up an announcement this badly.
I can't at that Wannabe cassette. Did a first time Microsoft paint user designed it?
I quite like the design actually!!!
IM READY AND PUMPED!!!
Come on ladies, LETS GO!!!
If they are going to announce it on the 8th July then the only thing I'll accept is 4 or 5 of them holding it in a video to announce it. Otherwise just get it up for pre-order now.
Apparently people have been given copyright warnings for re-sharing the image of the cassette on Twitter. This is beyond extra! Particularly when it's come from UMC, via Amazon, it's not like the image was stolen. And it's a cover with text on and an image of a cassette... can they calm down?
This whole thing is annoying me :')
Spice 25 is where the money is at, not the Wannabe vinyl. I'm not surprised this release has been handled so poorly.
Judging from the prices that have been found online, it seems like this will also be a bit of a money spinner to be honest....
Yeah it seems like the cassette could be £12.99 (which is scandalous!!) and possibly £19.99 for the vinyl.
Crazy how much labels continue to push it with prices, this is a lot for singles. Spice Girls single cassettes in the 90s were probably priced between 99p to £2.49, that's typically the range that cassette singles cost. I'm fairly sure the Geri - Ride It picture disc wouldn't have been more than £4.99 at the time, maybe even £3.99. I miss these sort of prices!
Oh totally agree that the prices dont really justify the item. Mind you, we will all buy them but they will loose on casual buyers...
Ah well...
Prices always start high on Amazon and go down as pre-orders go on. I'm sure they will end up 8.99 and 18.99 (the picture disc is 12 inch)
WHERE THE f*** IS THE VINYL!!!=!I!U!)!U)!U!O!O!J!OU!OJ!J!P!(T!/&R!&/!F"QH!BWLJ"HW!PUGWF
^ Maybe preorders tomorrow? They’ve teased on social media 🤭
This was posted on Spice Circle - not sure who by, because I read this on Popjustice!
I will never understand people who care or get obsessed about things as pointless as a font.
Also I can't believe how ridiculous UMC are being over this vinyl and cassette. I hope they announce it tomorrow just to get this ridiculous saga over with.
Honestly the fans have been doing too much with the bloody fonts and design, it's almost a bit too much...
My bank card details are written down and READ TO BE COPY PASTED ONTO A PURCHASE FORM ON THEIR WEBSITE TOMORRROO!!O!!!
Sorry but personally I love the look of the official classic logos and fonts, it was such a major part of their branding for the first two eras. It's completely intrinsic to them - so quite the opposite of pointless, for me (for lots of other fans too).
I don't much care for the "this'll do" attempt at replicating the classic logo (which has been happening since 2007*) - there's something quite knock-off and tacky looking about it. When I look at other products from the likes of ABBA and Queen, the logos/branding is always on point. For releases that came out decades before Spice Girls even existed. I wish that level of attention to detail was put into Spice Girls products.
I do wonder why they can't/don't access the original fonts. If it's a case of can't, is it because there wasn't proper archiving going on at Virgin? That was such an oversight... so many other artists must have stuff properly archived, typical that they seemingly didn't for the Spice Girls. They even have difficulties with sourcing original photoshoots, apparently. For the 2019 tour stuff, the design team actually bought old Spice stuff from eBay to use as inspiration...
Oh well, clearly it won't be rectified. All I can say is I shall nervously wait and see what the designers come up with for 'Spice'...!
* When it comes to Headlines and Greatest Hits, I remember reading someone saying that it seemed to them that the 'SPICE' logo was scanned and photoshopped to be used for those covers. I'm almost surprised the designers went to that effort to get the original logo for those artworks, though they did cut corners with the font used for 'Girls' and the titles.
Oh I get it, didnt mean to sound bitter or spitefull
Personally, it doesnt bother me too much. I actually quite liked the Headlines and Greatest Hits logos. They werent perfect, but they were fair 'updates'. I do agree that the most recent logos, specially around the Spiceworld tour and these, were somewhat lacking, in my opinion too.
I'm just super happy we are getting Feed Your Love to be honest. It's such a FAN MOMENT Like, we been asking for this for ages. We even asked for the Wannabe celebratory vinyl and we're getting that AND a cassete AND a new digital download I wouldnt be surprised if Wannabe is again remastered or if it is essentially the same file as the Greatest Hits release. I sure hope they could have re-mastered it... But maybe I shouldnt get ahead of myself lol this is already like Christmas in a way
I mean, this time last year we were discussing the possibility of them doing this and then it felt so far fetched that we considered only Spice would get a proper re-release. But we're good.
For me, it's all good. The new logos and overall designs could have been better indeed, but I'll take it this time
I quickly threw together concept art for Spice 25, which is roughly along the lines of the Wannabe 25 design - using the new logo, and a picture from the album photoshoot:
I actually wouldn't be mad if they used that picture for the front cover, if they really do end up disregarding the old logo.
After creating this, I still can't warm to this new logo. I understand that they've gone with silver because it's the 25th anniversary, but it looks bland imo. Nevertheless I used it to be cohesive with Wannabe 25. I had to include the Spice ring though - surely that's too iconic to get rid of? (I did initially try and design this using text for the Spice title, but to me it looked so clunky having 'Spice' on the cover twice!)
my (horrible) thinking is, they'll announce NEXT f***in week.
"Wow can't believe it had been 2 years since our incredible Wembley Show! now We're pleased to announce to #Wannabe25 project!"
I still think whatever it's just a logo or font, I mean Forever has a completely different font it makes no difference.
For this release for me the main thing was to give us something new or different and Feed your love/Wannabe demo is just that.
I'd rather have dodgy cover and new songs than perfect cover and Wannabe and bumper to bumper again.
I bet the announcement isnt this week because Emma is promoting her f***ing book
They should get the official announcement released so the fans are in the know.
A Thursday announcement could work the best.
Mmm I hope there’s not too much longer to wait for something
Like I said after the leak they were thinking of announcing really close to the anniversary if not the anniversary and using the hype and maybe the girls themselves.
Coming today supposedly, the girls are involved in the announcement
Edit it's merch coming today something expensive that might divide fans
Emma said this morning that something 'for the fans' will be coming next week, so that might be the Wannabe 25 release!
So next week looks to be the week.
I can’t wait 😂 I need that vinyl
I wonder how many will be made available, do you think wannabe will have any chance of Top 75 or even top 100 when released,
Id love to see it back in the charts, its def a legacy song and a huge hit already so it would be nice for it to return if only briefly, could also help add a bit of interest in their Greatest hits.
They have changed the cover to the vinyl, which probably explains the delay in announcing it. I did tell you they monitor Spice Circle I'm sure the overwhelming negative reaction and it leaking really put the freight up UMC. I think they see this as a big seller potentially with a new spice girls song on it.
Whoa really? That is quite a turn around...
Yep new cover is on Spice Circle. Like I said the delay in making vinyls isn't it takes ages to produce them just there are so few plants and so much demand so this vinyl will be booked in and have a deadline of say a week before print day to finalise artwork.
I just hope UMC aren't pissed off or put off other potential releases because of the reaction to the vinyl.
Love the new version more colourful.
Ahhhh I definitely like this version a lot more than the previous one. I think they've made the right call to redesign it at the last minute!
Like Maz says it's more colourful, I think this will be more appealing to casual buyers, as well as the fan base. I feel like their look in this photoshoot is more "classic Spice Girls", than the actual Wannabe photoshoot.

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B092P3SY44/ Canada - vinyl
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0915Q8WXM Canada - cassette
(No change to the cassette design)
I think the case will look better in person it's either going to be shiny silver or glitter silver which obviously isn't easy to mock up and make look realistic.
Who's to say the original vinyl image on the French site wasn't a temporary mock up. I'm sure UMG commissioned more than one potential design. I just don't believe Spice Circle has that much power. It's not like this new image is that different design wise.
To be honest, it's not great either but whatever, LET ME HAVE ITTTTTT!!!
All I care about is listening to Feed Your Love on Spotify. The rest of you can enjoy the beautiful vinyl. 😂
Converting the Canadian prices to UK results in £16.63 vinyl / £10.09 cassette. I'm so curious to find out what they'll be charging here...
Woman (Spice Circle Demanded Demo Version)
It'll be interesting to see whether they have plans for demos from every era, or if they're only focusing on the Spice era specifically. I still think Emma quoting the lyric on Instagram is suspicious.
All I'll say is Geri was in a studio alone and there is 1 Spice Girl missing from Woman. If they are to make this 25 years celebration of the Spice Girls and it be all 5 included and the one song fans have begged for has 4 girls on it there is one way to solve that.
Ah, I did like the first cover but the new one is indeed so much better. The picture feels much more like '96 Spice era and I love the colourful font, exciting times.
Chart wise, I honestly don't care. I mean of course it would be fab to see them appearing somewhere again, but we have to remember this is just a celebration for the fans. The general public is not going to care about a vinyl or cassette. The song has already done everything and more so in it's chart live and the streaming will continue to be great for years to go (I assume), so that's all I could ask for.
WOMAN was recorded after Geri left.
Woman with Geri and Song For Her with Mel/Victoria would be nice additions to the five piece catalogue. ❤️
lol, they're not going to put Geri on a track with 20+ year old vocals from the other girls.
(And if they do - oohooo booy)
They mimed to 1997 vocals Stop in 2007 so anything is possible
Geri obviously was re-recording Victoria's part in the single version of 2 Become 1. Geri is taking back her verse once and for all! 😂
Can’t wait for the celebrations to begin
Imagine if these were real...
That looks fan-freaking-tastic. I honestly don't know why they are not making individual ones, their fanbase would eat it up and could be a real money maker.
That looks very good, the 5 individuals would have gone down well.
I can't even. god I wish that was real. take my money huns
You’ll get something nice for the Anniversary
Yeah Spice will be a much better and bigger deal.
If they are releasing Feed Your Love and the movie version of Wannabe on the Wannabe vinyl, then that potentially weakens the commercial success of Spice 25. Feed Your Love is the unreleased song that Biff has praised the most.
Kind of strange they are not saving it to promote Spice 25. Unless there are better songs in the vault that Biff has never talked about. Fingers crossed that is the case.
Fingers crossed that Feed Your Love is just the tip of the iceberg!
Really nice fan video of 25 years of Wannabe... all these memories
10 pages and still not announced yet
This week my huns, this week!!
I just hope they get Spice right because this has been messy. Leaked press release, changed announcement date, changed cover, seemingly changed cassette release date.
I mean all will be forgiven when we finally get a new Spice Girls song but it has not been a smooth roll out for saying UMC have had months or more to organise this.
Getting it right is essential as they have had long enough to plan and organise.
Hope you are all watching the social media tomorrow
Oooooooooo 🧐 🤔
I’m ready! 🤭
You’ll definitely need to keep an eye out as Sammy says
👁
Any news?
Pre order for the vinyl is live on Amazon UK!

Taken ‘Spice’ out of the topic title for the time being, now that Wannabe is properly confirmed, I don’t want it to be misleading to seem like Spice is confirmed yet!
Vinyl description on Amazon UK:
To mark the 25th anniversary of the Spice Girls debut single 'Wannabe' (originally released 8 July 1996 in the UK) UMC / Virgin are releasing a new four song 'E.P.' (Extended Play) on 12" Picture Disc.
Alongside the original single and an in-demand remix by Junior Vasquez (originally a bonus track on the 1996 '2 Become 1' CD Single) is the original demo recording, and 'Feed Your Love', a ballad written by Spice Girls and 'Wannabe' co-writers Richard 'Biff' Stannard and Matt Rowe, recorded for the album 'Spice' but previously unreleased.
'Wannabe' was a No. 1 single in 35 countries (Source: Billboard magazine) with physical sales in excess of 7 million copies. In 2020 'Wannabe' was Spotify's most streamed '90s song by a female artist.

I want to know who apparently demanded the Junior Vasquez remix, who was asking for it 🧐 x
Let’s have a 4th post in a row 🤪

Spice store is up
Those prices.......
Pre saved on Spotify and might order the cassette
Pre-saving is very important shows streaming services interest.
The announcement of the vinyl isn't till 6pm so this is a little early.
Surely Wannabe is way over 7 million by now? It’s been on 7 million since 1998… since then it’s sold what 500k in the U.K. it went from 1 million to 2.9 million in the USA… I’d say it was on around 9-10 million by now?
f*** me, those prices are wild...
Must be most expensive 4 tracks to ever exist
Looking forward to the 'new' song
Where’s the Spotify pre save ? Already ordered the vinyl !
So...there is no store exclusive stuff?
I’ll keep my Amazon preorder
"I Am A Spice Girl" campaign:
The video is cute and we now have confirmation of the new 'total' sales of the group: 90million which is 5million more than the usual 85million that has been banded around for the last few years (since the Olympics?...)
Im a bit bummed out that there wasnt any more merch but whatever!
I love how Mel C is always ready to share Spice information without doing copy-paste. You can see she really cares and now I start to get certain things about past b-sides comments. She always wants to try to give the best to us Spice fans.
I'm so excited we are getting Feed Your Love after all these years. Thankfully they are releasing the song on Spotify because I would never pay that much for one new song.
According to the OCC article about this release this will still hit streaming on the 9th of July
This is all a bit messy again as the vinyl social media post isn't being posted till another couple of hours. They've changed back the link in the insta bio to the pride t-shirt.
It's a shame they can't get it right. Hopefully at 6pm the store will have merch on too.
Shocker when don’t they mess it up 😂 just glad I’ve ordered mine already
Ive ordered mine but quite frankly, Im annoyed at the price. This isnt a 'limited edition' so I dont get why such a price for a bloody vinyl and cassette to be honest.
I know these are 'niche' releases so I wonder as to why no mention of a 'limited vinyl edition' or whatever.
plus, I hope they start selling the items also on their own website stores! Madness that you have to go to UMG's website to get it and only the group website for the merch!
I'm still feeling a bit iffy about the prices too. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of people who are initially excited about the announcement, but then pass on it once they've looked at how much it costs, which is a shame.
I'm definitely not getting my hopes up that they'll sell enough to re-enter the singles chart. With ACR applied Wannabe is managing roughly 1400 sales a week. Even if the streaming sales have a boost in the digital release week, I really cannot see it making it to the 5000 sales required to make it to #100. The same goes for the vinyl/cassette week, I cannot see such expensive items selling thousands of copies.
Anyway, it's sitting at #1 on the Amazon UK vinyl chart at the moment - and that's nice to see, but Forever managed that too and in the end that sold less than 700 physicals with months of pre-orders and a full week of sales from all the stores that sold it
P.S. Hello to everyone lurking in the Spice Girls forum today! *.*
The prices are steep, for those prices they should be coming signed by the girls.
About their own webstore it's pretty obsolete now, it was set up and sorted by Modest originally. I think if they do end up touring everything will just end up on the Universal store.
As for the price, picture discs which record labels think are what fans want but they don't, are very expensive. Didn't little mix release 4 picture disc vines for bounce back that were like £18 each.
I have ordered the vinyl.
they have released a snippet of feed your love in insta
It sounds like it would've fitted in well on Spice alongside Last Time Lover and Naked.
The vinyl is now at #4 on Amazon’s overall best selling CDs & Vinyl chart
Seems like the cassette is not on amazon UK? Is it a official store exclusive?... Really hoping they still have merch to come cos this is a bit of a let down so far lol
The vinyl x cassette combination is already sold out on their website
Is that Geri giving me sexy, seductive whisper vocals in the new Feed Your Love snippet? My body is ready.
That’s it, right? There’s no announcement coming?
I’m a bit disappointed on Victoria and Geri, but maybe it’s just too early. I bet the two Posh Spice will post something too.
Regarding the UK chart rules, can the label make a request to reset Wannabe to SCR?
I don't think so unfortunately, I think the rule is that anything older than 3 years is permanently on ACR!
Surely they will create more.
Damn just got in from a run. Didn't expect the cassette to go that fast hopefully they will add more soon.
Looks like it's started off selling well then.
So that’s it? I know I’m deluded when it comes to the Spice Girls, but I was expecting something more (a message from the girls, a short video, or A Save the Date with a special online party. Dunno.. these girls are good to cash in, but they always go for the bare minimum. 🤨
I was checking the IG preview for Feed Your Love. Do you think we’re gonna get a promotional video with B&W footage? It would be great to have the first video in 14 years.
You have to remember that this is UMC and Universial team release. The girls have been more involved in this than normal (they never saw the GH picture disc until it was released) and know the fans want unreleased material so signed off to include it.
The girls have their own plans (hopefully a tour and other things) that they want to do and are properly involved in and their team is sorting. See it as a bonus, UMC were always going to release something but the girls know how much people want those unreleased songs so have given the fans what they want on the music side of things.
I'm a f***ing idiot any way as the cassette was sold out on the store ordered the vinyl on Amazon and cassette off HMV. I was going to hold off but I've just been told that the cassette is limited and once it's gone it's gone. I mean that could change if they see big demand and chance to make more money but given the cassette cover didn't change from the leak I think it's already been printed and sorted the amount they intended to make.
They will definitely have an upload to YouTube whether it's just a lyric video, clip video or audio only we will find out I guess. I hope like you say it's a black and white clip video.
I really want a CD single
When Mel B was on GMB the other week and said new music and a tour this is what she meant. The plan is to get touring next year hopefully and for UMC and their team to sort releases with bonus material and unseen stuff over the next 2 years to compliment that. It's a sort of 2 year plan where the tour slots into it. The movie will be re-released, Spice, Spiceworld. It's a celebration of the spice mania time.
You've already got a Mama lyric video with unseen footage and a new song on the Wannabe vinyl. Hopefully they keep it up and it all keeps going to plan.
Bit disappointed Victoria hasn't acknowledged it so far. I did say in the pride t-shirt topic that if the t-shirt was just to enhance her brand and she doesnt pull her weight with other things that are coming then that's very disappointing. Geri just throwing it on her insta story is a bit rubbish too.
Hopefully Victoria acknowledges soon, even if it's on the anniversary date itself.
Love Mel B's insta post, it's the most heartfelt:
Wowza it’s been 25 years!! How unreal is that ! We are blessed to be Spice Girls but we are honoured to have the best fans in the world. We wouldn’t be anywhere without you and can’t thank you enough for all the love we’ve had from all of you for two and a half decades. We’ve all grown up together and we’ve shared so much which is why we’d like to put you all at the heart of our celebrations so we can celebrate YOU ! Whether you are Scary or Sporty there’s a Spice Girl in all of us and all of you so we want to see your very best memories and how you’re celebrating this year. Dress up. Go wild and Share your photos and videos by using #IAmASpiceGirl
She could have thrown some weight behind it, it would have taken up no time and for fans who see her the number 1 spice would have really appreciated it.
The cassette is back on their store to pre-order!
So overpriced... but I still went and ordered the vinyl anyway 🙃
Excited to hear 'Feel Your Love' in full!
The cassette and vinyl were back in stock for a couple of hours on their Web store but are sold out again now. I feel like getting hold of a cassette will be increasingly tough as the days go on.
I don't like the cassette design at all but that EMI brand got me lol, the vinyl is okay. Look at the prices and still sold out. Imagine if they make the effort, something like the new album.
It is quite weird how quickly it sold out, both vinyl and cassette. I am glad I managed to get them!!
It is also still #1 on Amazon Vinyl which is really good right? Remember that they also didnt have a website-store for the previous vinyl releases either...
Surely this gives them the opportunity to do more
It will definitely be more successful than Spiceworld/Forever vinyls. It has a new track, 2 formats, EP, Wannabe does good streaming numbers any way. There will be more promotion towards the anniversary and it's release.
With it sold out do you think they will put more into production?
The I am a Spice Girl thing is pretty dumb. It's basically I am A Spice Girls fan with people just showing how big a fan or long time they have been fans. The constant retweets on twitter from it are super annoying.
If it was truly I am a Spice Girl it would have better for people to highlight things they've achieved and done, like running a marathon holding their medal or passing exams. Basically being a Spice Girl means chasing your dreams and achieving them.
It's back in stock, no?
I agree tbh, it's not ended up being a particularly inspired project. Honestly I'm not very interested in seeing fan content on their social media.
Essentially the same thing happening for a This Morning segment tomorrow:
Yeah, it's a bit of a meh project to be honest. I don't much care for it. We've been doing that for years ourselves lol
I just hope it improves their social media counts. It's a shame they are far from breaking 1milion on twitter and instagram and the more activity the more their reach will grow. So at least there's that?...
The wording is unfortunate, yes. I get it. The fans also belong in the group, is the ultimate message. But it somehow feels a bit flat. Just like their 2018 t-shirt #IWANNABEASPICEGIRL which was just a bit lame wasn't it?... And then their latest t-shirt with Victoria and the awkward 'Proud and Wannabe your lover'...
I don't know, it feels somehow they are trying to catch a good PR line but it's falling a bit flat to me...
The store has been turned into a holding page https://store.universalmusic.com/spicegirls
Basically they've made a mess, the first batch has sold out on their website and a 2nd batch won't ship till at least the 30th now so in the next charting week. So they are trying to direct people to HMV and other sites whose sales and allocation are from the original batch so will ship for the 23rd.
I mean great that it's obviously exceeded expectations but they've had so long to get this right and to be in a position where it's looking like the digital/streaming will be the 9th, first batch of physicals 23rd and second batch 30th is frankly a disaster.
There is a spice re-release coming too. Why they couldn't have gone big on numbers for wannabe vinyl and receded any left over stock or make bundles with Spice in November is beyond me.
I think if handled right they have opportunities to bump album sales with new editions etc whuch will also help increase single sales but they need to get the release right. This Wannabe release is great for the fans and a nice treat (despite the price) but its release seems very messy.
I see people panicking because the new girlbands “sell” a lot of streams. Who care? There’s never gonna be a song as iconic as Wannabe. It’s The Spice Girls, even my grandma knows who they are. Cheers
I guess they thought it was more impressive to point out 7 million physical sales specifically?
Yeah I dont get that one either lol
Tbh with how streaming is these days for the modern hits, 10 million worldwide is probably quite low lol.
Clip of Melanie on GMB this morning
Has anyone else paid for the vinyl yet or will the money come out when dispatched?
“Archives “ = more unreleased tracks coming? Please, make it happen!
Definitely sounds that way. Hope we get some from near the Forever era too even though we clearly won’t get a 25th anniversary vinyl for it
Geri looks stunning in that pic.
It definitely sounds like the girls went through their unreleased material this year. This makes me very excited for Spice 25 in November. I'm so happy we are getting unreleased tracks this year.
Fingers crossed 🤞
I would have rather had Do You Think About Me (officially) but at this point I’m gagging for anything new SG related so…
Am I the only one just not feeling this I am a Spice Girl campaign. I mean no your father or random men aren't spice girls, I can only imagine a casual fan who sees a video of other people's male loved ones thinking wtf.
I always feel like they miss the mark lately, it's 25 years of the Spice Girls I want to see them, unseen footage, pics, the 4 or 5 together now.
I agree that it’s pretty uninspired and definitely low effort. I really don’t care to see a collage or compilation of other fans lol.
I hope things get more interesting as we approach the actual anniversary date.
Melanie C is also hosting a radio 2 show the day after the Richard E Grant one called 'Summer of '96'
Heart will also have something but it's yet to be announced yet.
Those radio programmes should be pretty interesting!
Spice Up Your Life - 25 Years Of Girl Power
Release date:03 July 2021
57 minutes
When the Spice Girls debut single, Wannabe, was released in 1996, the only word to describe the reaction to it is frenzy! Even now, 25 year on, the opening ‘Yooooo’ to the track still has the power to provoke a big reaction. To mark the anniversary of the single - and indeed the frenzy that followed – Richard E Grant, who was in the movie Spice World, embarks on a nostalgic journey revisiting the much-loved songs of the Spice Girls canon, whilst speaking to some of the UK’s biggest Spice Girl superfans to get to the heart of what the group and girl power meant then and what it still means today. This programme is a joyful celebration of fandom, girl power, the music of the 90s and above all the Spice Girls!
My Life In A Mixtape with Mel C (4 July, 9pm-10pm)
Melanie Chisholm – aka Mel C and Sporty Spice - takes listeners on a very personal mix-tape journey, sharing the stories behind the songs that have been the soundtrack to her life.
With Stevie Wonder as one of her earliest memories, music has always played a huge part in Mel’s life. From Madonna to Blur via the fabulous Lizzo and many more, each track she selects evokes a memory of a time and place, as she journeys from childhood to the present day, playing the tunes that have been the accompaniment to her life.
Mel C says: “It’s going to be a wonderful trip down memory lane, sharing some of my very favourite tunes and the memories they take me to with Radio 2 listeners.”
I’m on my phone so I’m not able to link the image:

Studio Moross has a “The Original Remastered” image on it - so it seems they could be working on the designs for a remastered Spice?
YYYAYAAYYAYAYAYYAYAYAYAYAYYYYA REMASTERED IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING!!
Girlies, FINALLY, after so many years, we are getting FED finally. New releases, DEMOS, UNRELEASED TRACKS, REMASTERED MUSIC!! A TOUR HAPPENING SOON AGAIN!!!
"Also seems like Likely Stories has now been registered too
https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/909705838?page=1
It's COMING!!!!
Likely Stories has been registered on ASCAP since November 2020. It was registered after Biff signed his new publishing deal with Concord.
Just 2 more weeks until we get to hear Feed Your Love
Maybe it's just me, but at this current moment I'm not feeling like there's much hype for this Wannabe anniversary, from the public at least. There's still two weeks to go, of course, but I don't know. It's hard to put my finger on it, I just thought this would feel like a much bigger event in general than it does so far.
I am excited to hear the demo, and to receive the physicals, don't get me wrong. I think it's just stuff like #IAmASpiceGirl which isn't hitting the mark for me. I want to see content from the Spice Girls themselves, not random fan photos from over the years. I hope this is just the calm before the storm, and we'll end up getting some recorded messages from the girls at the very least.
Maybe I'm being OTT
I think it's fine. It is obviously a fan-service that is happening. To be honest, there has been quite a bit of press about it and my expectations were low. However, some nice press as come as a result and the vinyl seemed to be everywhere the week it was announced.
Sure, they could be doing much more and more continuously but it is clear the big effort will be with Spice, which makes more sense to me, to be fair.
The #ImASpiceGirl campaign can choke though. It's a waste of time and has done very little. Like, their social media game is pretty poor in general and they barely get much traction unfortunately. Like, how is their instagram *still* at 600k since 2018? Or their twitter still at 100k?!...
Melanie C saying the other day 'from the 8th you can 'stream stuff' and some of them have pointed towards 'a few things happening soon' which makes me a bit more relaxed at what is happening throughout the year.
We know we will get a special Spice celebration and a tour announcement at some point this year. We hope there will be a few more things (I am DREAMING of a Say You'll Be There and 2 Become 1 re-release personally!)
Also, Abbey Road studios posted this and I think it is LOVELY! It sounds like the vinyl was remastered - which might give us another clue from that Kate Moross website post too.
Cute that they used a 4-piece picture as that was the first time the girls recorded in those studios, I think!
https://www.facebook.com/abbeyroad/photos/a.408781739863/10158623783424864
Their effort is almost close to zero lol. Apart from that short tour in their home, they have zero new output for other fans or general public. To gain old fans back or new fans, it takes greater effort. Nice to hear there will be more touring.
The thing that creates proper buzz is the girls actually together for something. It's not looking massively likely they will do that though so if it's not successful that's on them.
At the current rate of infections in the UK, I very much doubt that they will do much in November where we might be in a winter lockdown anyway...
The Wannabe 25 vinyl is for die hard fans. I can't see many casual fans getting excited for it. Especially since UMG haven't done much towards promoting it for casuals. They haven't released an official snippet of the Wannabe demo. I find it bizarre they are not marketing it as the version in the Spice World movie.
Feed Your Love has received some headlines in terms of the girls releasing a "new" song. Though, they still haven't released any official snippets other than the 8 second preview on Instagram and Twitter. Maybe more promo is coming next week? I hope so.
That stuff is coming closer to the anniversary
10 days to go!
I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!
Spotify are asking for which spice you wanted to be as a pop up as you open it. I'm expecting curated play lists depending on which Spice you pick come the anniversary.
The Spice archives have been raided! In a recent interview Melanie C said she went through the archives and said there are some lovely little demos hanging around. https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9yc3MuYWNhc3QuY29tL2NlbGVicml0eS1zZWFyY2gtZW5naW5l/episode/YmRmNmY3ZjItMmJiZS00NDZjLTlhNGItNTg4MWQzZTlmYWJm?hl=en-GB&ved=2ahUKEwj7gKSutL_xAhWJIsAKHU2jCsgQieUEegQIAxAF&ep=6
Ooooh that is so interesting!!
Hoping they start some more teasers from Friday when it’s a week to go, or even tomorrow when it’s officially July.
Also excited to hear these other demos, hope we manage to get at least 5-10 tracks in total once Spice rerelease is out
You'll get more unreleased stuff, that's all sorted and signed off. The big question is can they sort that tour out and actually get to Australia, Asia, US/South America and the UK
Well not all are as keen to tour as you would think.
I think a really good anniversary moment would be if the girls could open the Brits next year, it would be 30 years since the most iconic Brits moment ever and I think that would be pretty spectacular... maybe a little madly of WDYTYA/Wannabe/SUYL and Viva Forever
"Sadly I would like to confirm that I have left the Spice Girls. This is because of differences between us. Mel C didn’t want me to get dressed as Margaret Thatcher for the next tour. Victoria is back (and there’s only room for one Posh). Emma is bullying me and Mel B has started to call me Karen. to PS, I won’t be back.“
Mel B, the week after: “We’re stronger than ever.”
The vinyl and cassette release has been pushed back to the 27th of August due to covid and too much demand or any silly reason their shit team has x
Ffs another mess. So now the vinyl is out 7 weeks after the digital release.
🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Their team ideally should have organised these physicals a lot earlier than they did, so that they’d be ready in plenty of time... but what’s done is done. It is a shame that they’re coming 7 weeks after the anniversary date though, that really dampens the impact.
In other news:
Let’s hope so! Won’t hold my breath
This is the tweet about the delay:
The vinyl delay is unfortunate but this happens a lot these days. From what I gather Wannabe having physical releases was a late decision as again the focus was on Spice.
It is what it is, it's good there has been very good demand for it (international orders have taken UMC a bit by surprise) and it does give it more time to build up more pre-orders.
Would be good if they could coincide something for that week in August as extra promotion.
Yeah, it is a bit sucky but whatever, at least it is coming AND it is doing well
One more week until Feed Your Love. Let's go! I'm really curious if the song is truly as dirty as it is rumored to be (blow jobs)
OMG THE b-o-job SONG!!!
Together with WOMAN, it is the holly grail of the Spice demos. We're getting fed, finally!
Now we just need Likely Stories (C U Next Tuesday).
https://amp.heart.co.uk/radio/shows-presenters/emma-bunton/celebrate-25-years-spice-girls/?__twitter_impression=true
I did say Heart had something planned, hopefully it's the 4 girls, she did say on Lorraine this week the girls were together last week and she records these shows before they air.
I can't help but cringe at this whole I am a spice girl thing. It's doing absolutely nothing for their exposure or to help them gain any social media traction either.
Yeah agree, it's very pointless lol
The annoying thing is them just mentioning the vinyl delay caused it to go from the 700s to nearly top 100 on Amazon best sellers and 116 down to 109 copies left on HMV.
It was unfortunate news about the vinyl but it actually pushed some extra copies. They really should be pushing the vinyl/cassette more, 57903 posts and rts about I am a spice girl, 3 posts about the vinyl.

It's been online for a couple of days now, but yes, its bad timing. I guess I will isten alone then as I give no shits about the futebol
Love it. They also played When You’re Gone and Out Of Your Mind.

I’ll have to make some time to listen to the radio programmes / read the articles!
Only 5 days left until we have Feed Your Love
This starts in 10 minutes!
Heart Celebrates: The Spice Girls with Emma Bunton
Emma Bunton celebrates 25 years of the Spice Girls on Heart! She plays all their big songs, and shares some amazing Spice Girls memories too.
https://www.heart.co.uk/digital/radio/schedule/
Nice there’s a bit of activity in the lead up. Emma and Melanie C both hosting shows on radio tonight, the special hosted by Richard E.Grant and various articles. Hopefully there’ll be some fun posts this coming week
Maybe it was a bit much to expect 3 hours of Spice Girls content, but for some reason I didn't anticipate so much non-Spice Girls music being played Within the first 15 minutes we've only had Wannabe and a brief clip of Geri introducing it, otherwise we've had music from Lady Gaga, Jason Derulo, Nelly, Bruno Mars... with Zara Larsson, Sam Smith and Pink on the way lmao.
Ooh yes, as Spice Girls Net says, Melanie C - My Life in a Mixtape is on Radio 2 at 9pm!
Spice Girls will be on the cover of The Sun's Fabulous magazine:
OK Im gonna steal that one from a local supermarket. There is no way Im going to spend money in The S*n
So far...
Emma recalled meeting the Spice Girls at a train station (she loves mentioning this lol). There was a clip of Geri introducing Wannabe. A clip of Michael Sheen recalling when he found Geri doing Yoga in his living room (lol). Judge Rinder shared that Wannabe was a favourite of his when he was in law school, and also 2 Become 1 soundtracked one of his favourite nights~. Melanie C introduced Say You'll Be There (Emma said Mel sent it to her in their Whatsapp group). Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden reeled off some facts such as how many countries Wannabe was #1 in and how much Spice sold worldwide (they went with 31m). Wannabe, Say You'll Be There, Stop and Spice Up Your Life have been played within the past hour and a half.
And 95% of the rest of the show has been music by other artists A scam x
Thanks for the round up. It is indeed a bit of a scam lol
ALSO they labelled it as including Little Mix etc and it sounded like the Little Mix girls had been invited and were going to do similar to Amanda Holden/Michael Sheen type of thing. BUT actually they just used the audio from a Little Mix interview from back in like May that was given to another news agency LOL
It is indeed a bit of a scam lol
^^^ That would have made a lot more sense! The only one of those artists that has been played is Little Mix (Heartbreak Anthem).
Oh well, I've heard some classics I've not heard in a very long time
Is either Emma or Mel Cs radio things worth listening back to ?
Seeing as the physical release has been pushed back until the end of August we should really push for the streaming and the digital EP this week on wards.
Is anyone else up for spreading the word on all various forums?!
Also, should we advise fans to download the EP individually so that ‘Wannabe’ gets more sales.
I'd say everyone download feed your love get it #1 on iTunes and then concentrate on Wannabe come physical release
Here's what I will do:
This Friday, I will download Feed Your Love and one remix. Then come the physical release, I will download the EP so it counts as another sale then eheh
That's my plan too
I know Thursday's streams aren't taken into account re the singles chart, but does anyone know if they contribute towards the total sales of a song - for example when we stream Wannabe on Thursday?
Wait I thought the EP comes out on Friday?!
I think you're right! A pity new remixes weren't commissioned this year too. There's so many great modern producers that could have done something with it.
It's all about Feed Your Love. Would be awesome if it charted in the top 75. Feed Your Love could open the door for a 4th Spice Girls album if the song is well received. It would be a no brainer for the girls to do what Dua Lipa did with her last album, but with a 90's throwback vibe instead of 80's.
Ya if it charted it would possibly help them take a step closer to recording a fourth album but im not in any confident it will ever happen.
Wannabe streaming party from 7pm BST on Thursday
I’m so excited to hear Feed Your Love and hopefully other demos. Their old stuff had that Spice magic that no other girlband will ever have. Even their b-sides were great (Outer Space Girls and Walk Of Life screamed album tracks). I’m personally not interested in new music (especially without Victoria), but I think it’s time for them to share their “lost” catalogue: remixes, demos, unreleased, covers, duets and alternative versions of their hits.
My Spotify needs them all!
I mean feed your love has no chance of charting unless the label pay for it to be on some big play lists.
The EP downloaded as a whole will count as 1 sale for Wannabe. It would only be individual downloads of Feed your love and streams of it that will count towards its own sales.
The label should invest in Feed Your Love as it is the ideal opportunity to test the market.
Feed Your Love will absolutely not get a push, nor should it be seen as an opportunity for the Spice Girls to chart or break ground for new music.
It's a demo of an unfinished song that is not to be seen as a contemporary reflection of the Spice Girls but a little 'insight' into their past.
I mean I could maybe see it getting a spot on NMF play list and universal pushing it however they can.
Spotify asking which spice girl you are shows there is definitely some collusion between Spotify and the label.
Feed Your Love's streaming numbers will be a indicator if there is interest or not in new Spice Girls music. It will be the first song they release in the streaming era. The song is not being pushed as a single, but I'm sure the song will still get a decent amount of press this Friday.
It will be interesting to see how Feed Your Love does on streaming compared to Melanie C's last album.
I don't think you can judge anything on its streaming numbers tbh. A proper new single would get Heart, radio 2 radio play, a proper video, a lot more hype, pushed play listing.
It will do well comparatively I'm sure but it won't really be an indicator.
I'd say as fans we should spend Thursday streaming the f*** out of Wannabe then do the same for Feed your love for the whole week of the 9th. Then have a big download/streaming/physical push for Wannabe on its vinyl/cassette release week.
Of course it matters, universal are sorting all this with just the girls signing things off but that's not an absolute guarantee it will happen if Universal think it's not worth the effort.
The girls don't own the rights to their music, they couldn't release stuff without Universal so they need to be satisfied they will get their return from the releases.
I'm not sure why you are being deliberately antagonistic, I think no one expects or would judge how a brand new freshly recorded Spice Girls single would do based off an old demo essentially being released as a bside to a 25 year old song. However everyone can obviously understand it needs to attain a certain level of success (more the physical sales as that's where the money will be made) for Universal to keep pushing through with more releases from the vaults.
Melanie C numbers (being independent) are not lackluster. BIOM (acoustic) has more than 2 million streams. It’s the support of big Playlists that she needs. The Spice Girls will get good numbers, but don’t forget what I’m saying here: PEOPLE want to hear the hits because of nostalgia, everything new is for the fans (so I won’t expect of course the numbers Little Mix or Black Pink do).
any chance for DEMO song gets a playlist?
The only thing stopping brand new music from the girls is themselves. Any label would happily release a brand new Spice Girls single and album. They aren't just a UK act they have a WW fanbase so it's not like it would be a Steps kind of UK only sales wise thing.
The sales from the Universal store for the vinyl/cassette were 78% from people with non UK addresses.
Would be nice if they had a 30 sec preview before Friday, literally is dead silence from them !
You should be getting an insta filter of the Wannabe stairs I assume so people can add it to pictures of them posing and gain some more social media traction tomorrow.
I’d love it if Wannabe could cross 500k streams in one day between now and Sunday
Good morning Britain will be live from the St Pancras hotel tomorrow morning.
There should be lots going on tomorrow hopefully. I'm sure it will sail well over 500k streams tomorrow on Spotify.
Just noticed there’s a new Spotify visual when you play Wannabe on your phone
Oh I wasn't meaning anything against you, it's lovely you have a pic on the stairs.
If the girls done even slight TV promo it would have a big influence.
Today’s the anniversary day! Happy anniversary to the Spice Girls, Wannabe and to us!
What a song and what a moment in pop history, truly iconic. I’ll definitely be making this a spicy day for myself and watching back some of the old DVDs.
Here’s a new BBC article: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-57734073 “ The Spice Girls at 25: Here's the story from A to Z”
There is a montage video of Wannabe on Spotify, you can see it on the All out 90s playlist cover.
25 years since the Spice Girls invented music
The singles have stories below them on Spotify with a few little facts and quotes from the girls.
'Wannabe' is track #1 on Spotify's Throwback Thursday with the playlist celebrating hits from 1996. Can it re-enter the Spotify Top 200?
And mean absolutely nothing as streaming figures on Thursday are estimated #sigh
The Spice Girls at 25: Here's the story from A to Z
BBC News
It came out of nowhere. It changed the course of pop music. It was Wannabe - the scrappily brilliant debut single by The Spice Girls.
The record label had been worried. Wannabe was too weird, too anarchic. They hated the video. BBC Radio 1 was refusing to play it. Breakfast show DJ Chris Evans told the band to go back to kids' TV.
But the girls knew better. "It's not negotiable as far as we're concerned," they insisted. "Wannabe is our first single."
And "if they decided they wanted to do something, then that's what was going to happen," Wannabe's co-writer Richard "Biff" Stannard told the BBC.
History proved them right.
Released 25 years ago, on 8 July 1996, Wannabe spent seven weeks at number one in the UK and four in the US. In the process, it made five unknown girls - Victoria Caroline Adams, Melanie Janine Brown, Emma Lee Bunton, Melanie Jayne Chisholm and Geraldine Estelle Halliwell - global superstars.
Here's a story from A to Z of how the band started, rose to fame, fell apart and put themselves back together again. So grab a cup of tea, slam your body down, wind it all around, and we'll begin.

https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/wannabe-at-25-how-spice-girls-debut-single-changed-the-pop-landscape__10051/
I really really cannot believe that Wannabe is 25 years old. I’m pretty sure I have a cassette somewhere of either the single or the first album from waaaaay back in 1996 when that was a legit Format. I don’t bin things so it must be at home somewhere.
This makes me feel so old. They were the First Music Act i ever really stanned (I had the Geri tin for Spiceworld) and was heartbroken when Geri left. Still a little young to have ever gone to like a signing or a concert at the time but there’s no doubt that Wannabe and all that followed had a definite impact. The fact that the title of that bbc article made me immediately start to sing „you wanna get with me you better listen carefully“
Insane. BRB gonna go claim my old age pension
Wannabe will certainly never be forgotten, it represents something much bigger than just a pop song. I think Baby One More Time is the only other debut from that 90s period that had and continues to have a similar “power”. Wannabe has more substance though as the girls wrote it themselves.
Happy 25th birthday
The A-Z article was fun, and nice to be reminded about that really funny interview with Jamie Theakston in 1997
Interesting to be given a specific figure of 879,000 sold during the 7 weeks at #1. Data/estimates from the time added up to 882,000, so very close.

Spotify has announced a first-of-its kind catalogue partnership with the Spice Girls, which will allow fans to go behind the scenes and reflect on the group’s beginnings and later fame.
“Spice Girls have always been about unity and inclusion, and it makes us so proud that after 25 years our music is still inspiring a whole new generation,” the group said in a statement.
“Thanks to Spotify for keeping us connected to our fans around the world. Streaming has been a huge part of keeping our music alive and it’s amazing that so many people around the world listen to us on Spotify.”

The Spice Girls Continue to Find Fans 25 Years After Their Hit ‘Wannabe’
https://newsroom.spotify.com/2021-07-08/the-spice-girls-continue-to-find-fans-25-years-after-their-hit-wannabe/

In July of 1996, the Spice Girls burst onto the music scene with their platform heels, Union Jack clothing, and their single “Wannabe.” Their lyrics of female empowerment made waves and started a global “girl power” revolution unlike anything the music and pop culture industry had witnessed before, with a lasting impact ever since.
So to celebrate the anniversary of their debut hit, on July 9 the Spice Girls will be releasing an EP, Wannabe 25, that includes a demo of the original single, a remix by Junior Vasquez, and a new ballad called “Feed Your Love.”
On the platform, Spotify’s celebrating the occasion with This Is Spice Girls, the ultimate destination for fans of the girl group. There, listeners will find a new long-form version of the “Wannabe” music video that’s exclusive to Spotify. The playlist also includes new storylines from the band, where they share details on their biggest hits.
Spotify may not have been around during the group’s ’90s inception, but that doesn’t mean fans aren’t listening to their music on the platform two decades later. In fact, “Wannabe” has been streamed more than 590 million times on Spotify, with listeners in the United States streaming the most, followed by Germany and the U.K.
“We continue to see a huge number of streams daily for their music, ranging from the songs we all know and love, such as “Wannabe,” “Stop,” and “Spice Up Your Life,” to niche releases that only a die-hard fan would play on repeat,” shares Sulinna Ong, Head of Music at Spotify U.K. and Ireland. “They truly changed the pop landscape forever, giving women a voice in the industry and giving fans the confidence to be their true selves.’’
Music from the Spice Girls has also found a home on millions of user-generated playlists—20 million, to be exact. As to the age of those streaming the British pop sensation’s tracks on Spotify? You may be surprised to learn that 18-to-24-year-olds are the ones streaming the Spice Girls’ music most (despite being born after the group’s first single was released).
Remarking on this, the band said, “Spice Girls has always been about unity and inclusion, and it makes us so proud that after 25 years our music is still inspiring a whole new generation. Thanks to Spotify for keeping us connected to our fans around the world. Streaming has been a huge part of keeping our music alive and it’s amazing that so many people around the world listen to us on Spotify.”
For fans looking to dive a little deeper into the archives, there’s plenty of podcast content on Spotify that offers a glimpse into the lives and minds of Sporty, Baby, Ginger, Scary, and Posh Spice. The WANNABE podcast shares insights into where the famous five are now, and how their careers progressed since their time in one of the world’s most famous girl bands. BBC’s Raw, a podcast that curates “rare and newly discovered interviews,” released an episode that highlights sound clips from the group members from 1996 and 1998.
Whether you want to practice the dance moves to “Stop” or hear the WANNABE podcast cohosts discuss Melanie C’s single “Who I Am,” there’s plenty of Spice on Spotify.

"This Is Spice Girls" playlist has a new picture (Team Spice is loving this particular picture, aren't they!) and it includes a new Wannabe playlist video at the start of it.
The playlist has been refreshed slightly. I'm pretty sure it used to have both Holler album and radio edit versions included, but now it's just the album version. Still find it bemusing that it includes Midnight Fantasy. Why not Out of Your Mind!
Sorry for the multi posting, but footage of a previously unseen performance on Top of the Pops from 1996 is being used in their social media video, and also in the Spotify video:
https://open.spotify.com/episode/2Rolqz8SAFiJ2YPDLdwJmQ?si=5639927b353e4c8b
So casual of them to intersperse clips of an unseen performance! I really want to see the full thing, hopefully that's coming...
Where was this filmed and why did Emma never recreate this look again? 😍
Feed Your Love is 5:13. Wow! What a treat. The preview here sounds very atmospheric and chill.

Amazing to see all the Spotify support! Hopefully we'll see an increase and streams and see Stop reaching the 100 million milestone this weekend.
Been really loving the Spotify support! Guess Simon Fuller really got off his high horse about streaming and has turned it around ah
That said, he probably has nothing to do with this, and it is made by EMI!
Wow. for some reason I really wasn't expecting a 5 minute song! I'm looking forward to hearing the full thing *.*
Nice to see the digital artwork too without the glittery border. Although when you view it as a large file (3000 by 3000 pixels) you can tell that the image they've used isn't very high quality, which is a shame... https://is2-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Music115/v4/e1/92/8f/e1928fcb-0204-ca19-597a-6edaf8e6ebc8/21UMGIM16233.rgb.jpg/3000x3000bb.webp

25 years of Wannabe, never expected I would still be a Spice Girls fan 25 years later
The partnership with Spotify is great.
I'm told feed your love has playlisting lined up for tomorrow and it will get a some sort of promo that will let people know it's out.
Listening to their music today in the background at work to celebrate happy anniversary to an iconic song!
I’m loving all the Spotify support and the storylines, plus the Wannabe video on the playlist 😊
This anniversary feels so much better than the 20th. So much tweets and articles everywhere, there’s such a positive mood for this anniversary.
Here's the video included in the All Out 90s playlist:
The video on Spotify is called Episode 1 so assume more to come. I mean the one added to the 'This is' playlist
I posted on Instagram to celebrate!
Only just listened to the clip of Feed Your Love on iTunes - it really does sound like smooth and chill R&B! From those 90 seconds it's actually exceeded my expectations.
Not available worldwide yet, but Wannabe Demo and Feed Your Love will be on YouTube:
Wannabe Demo:

Mel B's mum shared this:
Judging by its title, Feed Your Love is a finished track and not a demo.
Should it have its own thread?
They have had some seriously impressive press today. Hope it translates to a big day for Wannabe today streams wise and at midnight another day of press and exposure gets Feed your love off to a great start.
Someone has the lyrics already? 😜 Joking. But I can’t wait. I’m expecting a Mel B - Emma song and the other girls harmonizing (few Mel C ad-libs at the end maybe?)
GH listening party tonight at 8! Jay will make a thread
How do I hear the feed your love preview ? That link isn’t working
Loving the Instagram posts Maz! and Jay And obviously liked them both.
I'm streaming on my phone and TV #loon
What about a topic for the in demand remix lol
That Ozone Interview is EXCELLENT! This is why the Spice Girls were SUCH a force!

The amount of press coverage today!!
Times Square, New York
Incredible to see that We're in Spiceworld again! (lol)
Hats off to Spotify for being so incredibly supportive. Really looking forward to seeing the streaming numbers tomorrow.
Their main social media accounts (i.e. not just the UK/Ireland version) has posted about them too:
Such amazing promo!! Wow, it's pretty incredible. Feels almost like being in a sort of 1997 version of Spiceworld where tehy are literally everywhere.
There's excitement, soooo much press and even a great deal with Spotify the biggest streaming giant. This can only be a good thing!
We really got an excellent anniversary day girlies We should be very proud!
And dare I say it, but they really got it right this time promo wise. The only thing missing was a video message from the girls themselves. But whatever! We got well fed, for once. So happy they listened!
So, is this the first time anyone will be hearing 'Feed My Love'?
(obviously except the people involved in making it, as in it hasn't leaked before or anything?)
Really hope this has some impact on their social media and streaming presence. They deserve much better rep on those fronts, so it's good that they are going at it with such gusto this time!
