BuzzJack Music Forum _ Countdowns and End of Year Charts _ Ultraviolence's EOY: 2018 Edition

Posted by: UltraReputation 1st December 2018, 06:07 PM

Hey we've reached that point in the year for my 2018 EOY cheer.gif As ever the actual countdown of songs will be at the end of December as it's based on my personal chart (so I'm starting 28th December) and it'll either be a top 150 or top 200! However we'll be doing loads of stuff like hatechart, best videos of 2018 & others in the build-up so hope you guys are around to comment <3

Posted by: UltraReputation 1st December 2018, 06:08 PM

Hatechart will start tonight or tomorrow and it's a top 60 this year cos there's so much crap out recently! Any predictions? Anything you want or don't want to be here?

Posted by: dancember 1st December 2018, 10:21 PM

I predict at least half of the hate chart will be songs I like. kink.gif

Looking forward to this anyhow, and if you have the rest of last year's EOY on you too I'd be interested to see the rest of that.

Mo Bamba to slay the hate chart x

2. Yh it was so unlucky it came that year as in 2015 it would've sold 2+ million more than what the #1 then did and in 2016 it would've sold 2.5x more than the #1!! Haha I knew you'd prefer this to my #1 kink.gif
23. Still their best heart.gif Yasss it at slaying your EOY *.*
Glad your loving quite a bit and hopefully it'll be the same this year

Anyway let's get the Hatred on the road *.* This is gonna be fun *.*

Hate Chart: 2k18 Edition

60. Drake - God's Plan
Meh but it's not horrendous, there's a lot worse this year. Anyway this was everywhere at the start of the year and I honestly don't think I've heard it at all in the last few months. It's pretty bland and boring tho and idek how it did so well in the charts apart from it being a Drake song.

59. Craig David - Come Alive
Dreadful cover of one of my faves from The Greatest Showman. The R&B verses on this song just don't work at all and ruin it. Though the pre-chorus or chorus (icr which one as I've not listened for like a month) is acc quite good, this still ruins the song enough to get a place here. Dw this won't be the last of The Greatest Showman: Reimagined on this chart x

58. Machine Gun Kelly - Rapdevil
57. Eminem - Killshot

Two pointless 'songs' in the most pointless feud of 2018 that was probs all engineered by the record company to build hype for MGK's career/Kamikaze. Both disses were weak af and neither are anything I'd ever want to listen to or return to.

56. Hardy Caprio - Best Life
55. Stay Lizzy or something - Ay Caramba
54. Cadet - Advice
53. Fredo - BMT
52. Digdat - Airforce

A nice 5 that can all go together. All suffer by me from having to be heard on the chart show but I've never heard any of them out of that so I'm not gonna put them any higher in comparison to songs that I remember well/constantly irritate tf out of me. Anyway all of these are bland, boring and the part of the urban scene that I'm not here for in the charts at all atm.

51. Dappy - Oh My
Who on earth wanted a Dappy return in 2018??? And the fact this was a minor hit as well??? Christ. As awful as anything else he's recorded solo (possibly even worse) and just a dreadful song. Can we have an N-Dubz reunion plz x

Dw rap lovers, of the next 20 songs only 8 of them can be classified as rap/of a similar vain! ohmy.gif

Posted by: PeteLeftLeeds 3rd December 2018, 10:46 AM

Rap Devil and Killshot were both really annoying, I honestly can't be done with that much random hate going on. I do quite like some of the UK Urban tracks but one of the ones already mentioned will be in my Top 5 Worst Songs wink.gif

Posted by: DalekTurret32 3rd December 2018, 03:55 PM

60. I like this
59. Haven't heard.
58 and 57. Really like these two.
56-52. Mostly range from solid to okay, except for BMT which I haven't heard.
51. This one's alright.

Hi

Always enjoy reading your charts so I'm very much looking forward to this. cheer.gif

Although I can already tell I'm going to love a lot of the songs in your hate chart. Already a huge fan of God's Plan, Ay Caramab, Advice and especially Killshot.

Certainly here for the Rap Devil hate though, that one is absolutely embarrassing.

Yeah ik, I'd get it if something acc happened between them but the hate was so random, especially as it seemed label organised or whatever urgh. At least one of them will be in your worst top 5, hyped to seeing which one it is *.*
Thanks Pete <3

Hate Chart: 2k18 Edition

50. Eminem - The Ringer
Oh another dreadful Eminem song let's go *.* Tho this was the 2nd least worse of the ones that made the official chart this year. Just so so meh & bad.

49. Sam Smith - One Last Song
The best single off the album, tho considering it's a Sam Smith album that's not saying anything at all really. I find this dull or bland but tf it flopped so it didn't get overplayed to death like half his singles have. I've still not loved a Sam song since I'm Not The Only One but Promises is a low-key bop.

48. B Young - Jumanji
47. B Young - 079ME

Basically the same song as each other and both are as bad as each other. Two dull non-descript songs that both irritate tf out of me (& somehow both were top 40 hits iirc??) but 079ME is slightly worse so that gets the higher position.

46. Rak Su - I Want You To Freak
Luckily for Rak Su, this is their only entry this year. Though if there 'Holidays Are Coming' cover ever gets released properly and sounds anywhere near as bad as that f***ing irritating awful out of tune advert that I can't stop seeing, then look for it to make the top 10 here next year. Anyway back to their 'debut' single, this is just a dreadful pop song with outdated & crap lyrics, outdated production and is so boring. Also I hear it on capital all the time ugh.

45. Ed Sheeran - Happier
With 3 entries this year (iirc), Ed gets off way easier than he did last year here. Though Happier got pushed as a single in 2018 iirc and it remained as awful as ever. So dull and Ed at his worst ugh.

44. Whoever Sings It - 3 Lions
Yeah I really like football + loved this years World Cup but gosh hearing this rubbish for 1 month with no-end was a nightmare, I hate it so much and I find the chorus SO irritating. It didn't help that everyone was quoting it & playing it 24/7.

43. Jess Glynne - Thursday
Gosh I'm so bored of these songs on the whole now of songs in a similar lyrical vain (see also Perfect To Me which just misses this years top 60). This is just Ed's writing at its worse and the song is dull and boring af as well. It drags on and on and on. This is by far the worst single this era so ugh that I see it being the highest selling one when all is said and done. Flush this rubbish. Acc I'd go as far as saying it's her worst single ever and that's a shame considering the ballad last era (Take Me Home) is one of my Jess highlights.

42. Tyga - Swish
Not as bad as his big hit in 2018 but this was also awful and I unfortunately have heard it a few times, tf it seems to have done nothing in the charts so hopefully he can disappear again.

41. Drake - Nonstop
Yeah this was so meh when I heard it on the chart bleh flush. Another crap Drake song that somehow becomes a hit, shocker. Anyway I wonder who it might have been that blocked Drake from the top 40 x

Posted by: PeteLeftLeeds 4th December 2018, 05:26 PM

Ah good looks like my worst song of the year Taste is going to make an appearance here then! biggrin.gif Most of the others I can tolerate but I'll agree that Thursday is quite dull, what happened to the Jess of two years ago??

Posted by: CodySleighBell-y 4th December 2018, 05:29 PM

Lmao I only hate Thursday bc it’s incredibly cheesy even for Ed’s standards

Posted by: dancember 4th December 2018, 05:52 PM

3 Lions is incredibly overrated and I'm glad we got kicked out just so it would stop being a meme. One Last Song and Happier are boring too.

Posted by: DalekTurret32 4th December 2018, 07:25 PM

I really like 3 Lions (classic), One Last Song and Thursday.

Posted by: DexTheHalls 5th December 2018, 02:28 PM

Actually agree with most of your hate chart so far tbh with only a few exceptions... One Last Song is Sam Smith's best song since I'm Not The Only One (his BEST ever tbh wub.gif) from an otherwise dull album. It didn't chart for me for some reason but I much prefer it to TGAG or Pray, I reckon it won't age as badly as Promises will either tbh

Happier is alright too kink.gif I imagine if it became a hit and was an overplayed as Shape or Perfect I'd be less keen but I do quite like this still. Perfect was a great album track but I went off it very quickly once radio picked it up so thankfully this didn't get the usual Ed treatment

The Ringer and God's Plan are decent too although not songs I really go back to sad.gif Despite both being completely different I have the same to say about them laugh.gif Both from really good albums imo but the weakest single (?) by far. Although if Non-Stop is a single that was pretty crap by Drake's standards

THURSDAY IS JESS'S WORST SINGLE TO DATE

Even though you hate on loads of stuff I like I always look forward to your hate charts!

As a fan of most of Dappy's solo stuff Oh My was pretty weak, I'm as amazed as anyone else about its success.

Agreed with the B Young tracks, absolutely nothing to them.

Thursday is extremely underwhelming especially when you consider she has done good ballads before (Take Me Home, Why me etc.)

I Want You To Freak is laughably bad, just like how their music careers appear to be heading.

Posted by: Liаm 9th December 2018, 05:49 PM

This Thursday hate *.* Vile "song" probably my worst of 2018 bar Girls Like You, it's just so vapid and feels like she took it out of the reject bin from Little Mix's first album's Japanese B-Sides and sucked all the life out of it to make it even worse.

Ah good looks like my worst song of the year Taste is going to make an appearance here then! biggrin.gif Most of the others I can tolerate but I'll agree that Thursday is quite dull, what happened to the Jess of two years ago??

Thanks Pete <3
Oh yasss it is, and nice and high too *.* Tf it topped your hatechart, us showing taste (quite literally x) on this site <3 Ikr, even as non-descript & bland as I find her, her music is usually solid enough but All I Am is the only 2018 Jess song I love.

QUOTE(CodySleighBell-y @ Dec 4 2018, 05:29 PM) *
Lmao I only hate Thursday bc it’s incredibly cheesy even for Ed’s standards

Thanks Cody <3
Ikr, it's the cheesiest non Ed song he's done in forever sad.gif Which is a shame as he's acc been doing quite well with cowrites for female artists the past couple of years (Your Song, End Game, 2002)

QUOTE(dancember @ Dec 4 2018, 05:52 PM) *
3 Lions is incredibly overrated and I'm glad we got kicked out just so it would stop being a meme. One Last Song and Happier are boring too.

Thanks Dan <3
Lowkey same haha, as much as I would've loved us to make the final! It got to the point I'd legit be with friends in public and they'd start playing the song randomly outloud and start singing, that's how bad it got laugh.gif Yasss at you hating a few others there *.*

QUOTE(DalekTurret32 @ Dec 4 2018, 07:25 PM) *
I really like 3 Lions (classic), One Last Song and Thursday.

Thanks Dalek <3 Haha hopefully you'll hate some more that's coming up then!

QUOTE(DexTheHalls @ Dec 5 2018, 02:28 PM) *

Thanks Dexton <3 <3
Yasss glad your agreeing with most of it *.* Haha I don't even disagree with that!! OLS is at least a tiny bit listenable unlike anything else released between that period! And yass at INTOO stanning, his only good song <3 (Acc Promises is better than OLS I forgot that existed haha)
Yh Happier would probs be contending for top 20 here if it was as overplayed as those! Ikr, I even stanned it at first when Perfect became a single but then it became TOO much. It even made my personal chart top 20 but now I can barely listen to it laugh.gif
Neither Eminem's or Drake's albums are good xx

Hate Chart: 2k18 Edition

40. Drake - Diplomatic Immunity
And blocking Drake from the top 40... was Drake himself *.* This was one of the first tracks he released this year and one of his weakest, this just irritated me af.

39. Drake - In My Feelings
Yeah this got very annoying very quickly. The 'kiki' part is so irritating and I didn't get the fuss about it at all when the challenge was around. The production is bad and there's just nothing to this song so I'm glad it plummetted pretty quickly as I honestly thought this was gonna be God's Plan part 2 in the chart at one point. Anyhoo for Drake lovers, this is his last solo/lead entry here this year x Though he still has a couple more songs to come x

38. Alexander Rybak - That's How You Write A Song
This was originally Our Choice by Ari from Iceland(?) from Eurovision but Pete's countdown reminded me this existed and it's a dreadful song unlike Our Choice which is just death defyingly dull so I've taken that out of the countdown and replaced it with this. An utter f***ing horrifying messT with some of the worst lyrics of 2k18 and the production/vocals were ear aching. The fact this beat so many amazing songs at Eurovision this year is utterly gutting sad.gif

37. Lukas Graham - Love Someone
Pete maybe's its best if you avoid this section kink.gif Anyway the true horrors/chart murderers of 2016 unfortunately returned with new music that somehow did minor things on spotify & itunes (but tf didn't chart iirc). I mean it's not as bad as 7 Years (but on the other hand I don't think any songs this decade are that bad) but this is still pretty meh and bleh.

36. Justin Timberlake - Supplies
35. Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapleton - Say Something

Yep my hatechart comment made my comments on Justin pretty clear this year, really hated his output in 2018 x Supplies is cringey af with one of the worst videos of 2018 and Say Something is utterly dull and ew that it became a minor hit, I went through a one month period where I'd always here it on the radio which was v. unfortunate for my ears x SO bad ugh. Ofc we'll have more Justin coming up later x

34. Calvin Harris feat. PARTYNEXTDOOR - Nuh Ready Nuh Ready
This was 2018 right?? Anyway whatever it was awful and forgettable and it deserves to make the list. An utter racket and another dreadful PND song. At least Calvin recovered slightly after this, I didn't love OK or Promises and neither are near his best but both were solid songs unlike this or most of what he served in 2017. This is dreadful from a vocal and production standpoint tho and is so messy.

33. Weezer - Africa
Yeah why is this a thing??? I mean the original is overrated enough already but this is horrendous. It sounds like a bunch of flat boys get drunk at a party, think they can play instruments and sing and recorded this. Tho however it's not even the worst 2018 release related to Africa anymore after Pitbull sampled it on whatever the f*** his Aquaman soundtrack song is x

32. Ed Sheeran - Supermarket Flowers
Ik this came out in March 2017 but he (unfortunately) performed this at the Brits this year so I'm making it eligible here again x Possibly in the worst 3 on divide which really says something, I HATE the lyrics and this is the worst kind of Ed's song, so bloody dull and boring with cringey lyrics.

31. Eminem feat. Joynor Lucas - Lucky You
I just made my thoughts on this clear in the main hatechart thread rn but yeah this is so bad. One of Em's worst of the year and so nothingy, the vocals by both are dreadful and another Em song to flush from 2018.

I don't think I have legitimately hated a song.

Really like Lucky You and Say Something, and That's How You Write A Song is a guilty pleasure.
Speaking of the last one, have you heard of the parody That's How A Comeback Goes Wrong?
Also, Toto recently responded to Weezer's cover of Africa by covering an old song of Weezer's called Hash Pipe.

Posted by: dobbo 15th December 2018, 01:27 PM

Say Something was extremely annoying, shame that became a pretty decent hit as I far preferred Filthy! (Looking forward to your scathing review on that tongue.gif)

Nuh Ready really was a misfire but at least it wasn't a problem for Calvin dominating this year.

Supermarket Flowers is utterly horrendous, by a mile the worst song from Divide (and up there with his absolute worst).

Love Someone and Supermarket Flowers were awful saccharine cringe, the Africa cover is absolutely pointless and Supplies was rather bad too.

Drake was boring and uninteresting, "Supplies" might be JT's worst single that I've ever heard from him and Weezer's cover of "Africa" is just so bad!
Otherwise I disagree with the rest of the songs, except for also "That's How You Write A Song", which was a huge step down from "Fairytale", Rybak really disappointed me.

Green Light ROBBED.

Thanks Cam <3
LWYMMD>>>>>>>>. Green Light was just unlucky tho haha, it would've smashed 2015 and 2016's EOY charts x (and potentially with its 2017 sales been #1 this year as well tho that's gonna go down to the wire! x)

QUOTE(sergejdordij98 @ Dec 21 2018, 10:36 PM) *
Drake was boring and uninteresting, "Supplies" might be JT's worst single that I've ever heard from him and Weezer's cover of "Africa" is just so bad!
Otherwise I disagree with the rest of the songs, except for also "That's How You Write A Song", which was a huge step down from "Fairytale", Rybak really disappointed me.

Thanks Serge <3
Yep those two words really sum up Drake's last couple of years & yasss at hatred for those 3 as well *.* I didn't rly like Fairytale but it was a masterpiece compared to that!!

Hate Chart: 2k18 Edition

30. Sam Smith (with or without Logic) - Pray
Another blah blah smith song. Tho this is his last song for 2018 which is quite impressive by his standards. Pray is death defyingly dull in either the original or remix form so tf it flopped, honestly one of his worst songs and probs the worst song of his sophomore era. The epitomy of unexciting.

29. Kanye West - All Mine
Trash. Dreadful song by a dreadful artist. My ears greatly suffered whenever I heard this.

28. Eminem - Venom
Possibly the worst song Eminem 'contributed' to 2018. Which really says a lot. The utter SCREECHing of Venaaaaaaaaaam repeatedly is horrific to all extents with anyone that has functioning ears and this track is a horrible MESS. So sooo bad and I'm glad this wasn't a bigger hit, which I feared it would be cos of how big the film was.

27. Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj - The Light Is Coming
Usually this chart mostly features artists I dislike/hate so despite Ari having not as big year quality wise as I was expecting her to (I f***ing adore NTLTC, Breathin/TUN are great & about 4 more songs on Sweetener are good but everything else was underwhelming), I didn't expect to hate a song of hers this much. Once again it's a certain person on production ruining everything as always, the production is SO jarring and that random SCREAMING throughout the song is not needed. The verse and chorus are disjointed in a bad way and don't go well together, the non queen of 2018 delivered another poor rap verse and this song was a f***ing disaster and was the first warning sign that Sweetener wasn't going to be the album of the year that I was expecting it to be at one time.

26. BlocBoy feat. Drake - Look Alive
25. French Montana feat. Drake - No Stylist

And Drake's last two appearances of 2018 come just inside and outside of the top 25! Both of these are collabs he's featured on but I'm pretty sure he's the dominant artist on both of these. Both of these really suffered by my friends playing them non-stop, seeing them constantly in youtube videos or in the case of NS, stalking me whenever I turned on the radio or TV. Both are dreadful rap songs and up there with my least faves from that genre this year. Look Alive is lyrically dreadful whilst No Stylist's production is beyond annoying.

24. Tyga feat. Offset - Taste
One of my least fave songs of the year. The production is so dreadful and beyond jarring and irritating, also my friends loved this song and wouldn't stop playing it the last few months ew (maybe I need to get new friends x). Idk how tf Tyga is still relevant (this is his first hit since Rack City right excluding features?? I honestly can't remember anything else he's done as a lead artist). Anyway this is the first of many useless Offset features of 2018 as he takes over bandmates Quavo's role of being the useless rap feature popping up everywhere this year. Anyway Taste's lyrics are also horrendous, the video is dreadful and the song is noise. This deserved to flop.

23. Kanye West - Yikes
Well at least the title's fitting to describe Kanye's year in every sense of the word possible x From vocally supporting the orange twat to the slavery comments etc, this rly hasn't been a banner Kanye year. The same goes for his music, Yikes (and the entire Ye ep) is dreadful and tf didn't seem to make much impact outside of release week. I have absolutely no time of day for him at all.

22. James Arthur - You Deserve Better
WHY IS HE STILL A THING???????? Well at least this one thankfully flopped. Irritatingly crap song that didn't deserve any better than it did, I hate the chorus and his vocal sounds diabolical as ever. Dw James stans, he's set to pop up two more times later on xx

21. Pinkfong - Baby Shark
WHY THE HELL IS THIS A THING?????? For the first couple of weeks, it was random af and tho not enjoyable it was quite funny. Then it got quickly very very VERY annoying and irritating. To the point that it's popping up on every TV show (and I mean quite literally every TV show as when I was watching TV non stop during my recovery from hospital it'd always pop up as background music or some celeb would sing it for a joke) and the X-Factor performance shite solidified this as one of the most irritating songs of recent times. I just don't get how this became a thing. This has flucturated a lot around my chart whilst I've been counting down, it was originally in the 30's, then jumped to just outside my top 10 and now ended up here as I don't hate it as much as I did a few weeks ago but it's still utterly diabolical.

Top 20 of HateChart + Video Chart coming before Friday x

Posted by: dancember 23rd December 2018, 07:54 AM

Baby Shark has got rather annoying now, it's been in the popular conscious for too long.
The Sam Smith and James Arthur songs are bad too.

Posted by: dobbo 23rd December 2018, 10:39 AM

Agreed with Venom being his worst track this year (and I didn't particularly like any of them).

Taste is terrible, I usually quite like Tyga songs but this one was painfully bad - of course it becomes his biggest hit dry.gif

I must admit I do enjoy Baby Shark as a troll song, expect it'll have a big rise in the Charts once the Xmas tracks clear out laugh.gif

Posted by: SantaDalek32 23rd December 2018, 02:02 PM

Really like Pray, Yikes and Venom.
James Arthur isn't my cup of tea, but I remember liking You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You when it came out (as well as Rudimental's Sun Comes Up and Dalton Harris' The Power Of Love)
I remember The Mode talking about The Light Is Coming on his Worst Songs of 2018 countdown, he compared it to NERD's Lemon (due to the similar production and the vocal sample coming from a political event in 2009). I liked both songs, though I prefer Lemon out of the two.

Posted by: sergejdordij98 23rd December 2018, 07:38 PM

I agree with you on "All Mine" (Kanye has a really bad year), Drake songs (because obviously), "Taste" (I rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than this) and especially "Baby Shark" (It wasn't good to begin with, why is it so popular?).

Posted by: UltraReputation 23rd December 2018, 11:06 PM

Same haha, I don't think I liked one song he did this year! Venom really is on another level of awfulness tho sick2.gif
I hate Tyga anyway haha but Taste is his worst by far! Ugh at it becoming inescapable and such a big hit sad.gif
Yep unfortunately agreed, I honestly see it going top 15 minimum after Xmas goes sick2.gif

I hate that James Arthur song SO so much, maybe in his worst 3 for me which really says something! I utterly can't abide Sun Comes Up either and gimme Gabrielle's version of TPOL anyday x
Haha I really see that similarity, they are pretty similar ngl! Lemon works quite a bit better tho (I don't like that song but I don't hate it either!)

Hate Chart: 2k18 Edition

Some quick honorable mentions:
Eminem & Ed Sheeran - River
Stefflon Don - Ding-a-ling

I can't remember if either of these made my chart last year cos they came at the tail end of 2017 but both are diabolical and the former would be top 20 and the latter top 10 so they get a shoutout here anyway x River is absolute drab. And ding-a-ling is such a f***ing MESS of a song with the worst choice/use of a sample in a long long time. Tho seeing Stefflon perform it was live was a f***ing moment tho (probs for all the wrong reasons) laugh.gif

Posted by: UltraReputation 23rd December 2018, 11:18 PM

20. Anything else record by the 1975
The next 3 are all combined entries for by far the 3 worst artists of 2018. All of them have 1 song that stood out as even worse than the others so those will be coming up later in the countdown. Anyway the worst band to exist atm unfortunately polluted us with another album led by 700 million crap singles. It's a shame they couldn't break The Vamps album chart fall sad.gif

19. Anything else recorded by Xxxtrashtacion
Yeah self explanatory. All the songs released by this artist are diabolical anyway, Changes and Moonlight can have a special shoutout for being particularly bad.

18. Anything else recorded by the Jailed Pedofile Skittle
Bye bitch. Disgusting and derogatory lyrics from a disgusting person.

17. James Arthur - Empty Space
Now back to actual songs, we see James returning again. This was acc top 15 til not that long ago but he's been spared last minute. Dw James haters he still has a song to come up x Anyway back to this one, Empty Space is drab, vocally horrendous, lyrically cliche and boring and sounds like the last track of a pretentious indie-pop band of the mid 2000's. SO bad and ofc this still becomes a minor hit haha. CAN WE STOP TRYING TO MAKE HIM HAPPEN?! Thanks x

16. Tom Walker - Leave A Light On
And this was probs like in the 30's when I started the countdown but the double X-Factor performance + hearing it a couple of times on radio since reminded me how utterly DIABOLICAL this is so it's way back up now. The definition of screech and basically the Rag n Bone Man of 2018 cos one Rag n Bone Man wasn't bad enough already. Tbh the verses aren't dreadful, they are just meh and dull af. That f***ing chorus tho. Honestly one of the worst of the year. The vocals are all over the place, the production becomes ear hurting & dreadful and the lyrics are so cliche I can't. Hopefully he'll stay a one hit wonder x

Posted by: UltraReputation 24th December 2018, 12:09 AM

Yep I realise it's not even been an hour since the last section but I wanna watch a film and then sleep as I have to be up at 8 tomorrow x

15. Dave & Fredo - Funky Friday
Ew at this being such a success, one of my least fave rap songs of the year let alone rap hits. Lyrically irritating and I just hate the production so much. Idek how this was so big ugh. Tho at least it's not the highest song with Friday in its title in this hatechart x

14. George Ezra - Shotgun
UGH at this becoming such a gigantic hit. My least fave George song ever so ofc this is his biggest hit. Even tho I didn't stan Paradise, I quite liked it and found it solid. This however irritated me from listen 1 and got worse and worse as it was everywhere during summer and still is bloody everywhere. Hate the lyrics, his voice on this really irritates me and the production beyond annoys me. And whatever that 'burp' moment or whatever that people have talked about before is so annoying as well. In short, this song is f***ing annoying x Hopefully One Kiss or even God's Plan will beat it to the year end's number one spot.

13. Kanye West - Lift Yourself
Oh I forgot this was still to come, so he still has one more song to go. The worst part of this is obviously the lyrics. Let's not even get into them. One of the worst from a dreadful year for Kanye.

12. Xxxtentacion - Sad
His biggest hit unfortunately as its probs his worst song. Just an utterly dreadful track. (I'll add in my hatechart commentary here at some point as I cba to write stuff for this 'song' again)

11. Kodak Black, Travis Scott & Offset - Zeze
f***ing noise. Kodak Black is trash anyway and we have another awful Offset verse 'yay'. The production is dreadful and boring af and the lyrics/vocals are all utterly non-descript, horrible and dreadful. I wish this flopped, idek how this has become such a big hit ugh sad.gif This also blocked quite a few acc good songs from the top 10 in the charts including Pink's wonderful version of A Million Dreams sad.gif However the one place it deserved top 10 (here), it misses ffs. Up there with 2018's worst. This only just missed my top 10.

Posted by: SantaDalek32 24th December 2018, 01:02 AM

I like The 1975, though not as much as other people do.
I really like Leave A Light On and Shotgun. Though I kinda agree with you on that drop in the former; I thought it sounded out of place on a melancholy piano ballad focusing on Walker looking out for a friend of his struggling to break his dangerous habit of addiction.
Lift Yourself: I heard people talk about this 'poopity-scoop' thing in a /notmu/ group on Facebook one of my friends signed me up for last year, and I was like WOOT?. I then watched/listened to CDTVProductions' Top 10 Bad Songs by Great Rappers video and Kanye West's Lift Yourself made it on to that list (but not at number one. That spot was awarded to Hopsin's Happy Ending). I ended up listening to the track and found it to be a hilarious troll songdue to the anticipation of waiting for Ye to go hard on a really good rap beat involving a nicely done old soul sample but all he does is make up his own language during a short verse.

Posted by: Calum 25th December 2018, 06:30 PM

Empty Space and Shotgun sad.gif I really like both, but I can see why they'd, particularly Shotgun, be or become annoying.

Posted by: LewisGT 25th December 2018, 09:33 PM

Shame to see All Mine, Venom, The Light Is Coming, Look Alive, Taste, Yikes, Funky Friday, SAD! & Zeze here. I love all of them. Especially The Light Is Coming. sad.gif

I certainly agree about Shotgun & Baby Shark though. Both massively overplayed especially considering they were pretty crap and annoying to begin with.

I'm certain I would hate 'Lift Yourself' too but I've managed to only hear about 2 seconds of it.

Posted by: Petivity 26th December 2018, 11:43 AM

Posted by: UltraReputation 27th December 2018, 01:55 AM

Let's get this done *.* #5 to #1 coming at like 2:45ish x

10. Christina Aguilera, 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla Sign - Accelerate
And kicking off the top 10 is a comeback I was very hyped for, until I heard the lead single. It's been 6 years since Xtina last released an album and if this was the best she should come back, she should've made it another six. The song is an utter clusterf*** of a track. There's like 2 or 3 okay-ish songs in there but combined it's a complete mess. The total non-event of a chorus, the verses are up there with the worst of the year, the video is abominable, why the f*** is Ty Dolla Sign screaming and making random noises like a 2 year old all over the track, 2 Chainz's rap is forgettable and Trash-ye's production is a complete disaster (and this isn't just my blind-hatred of Kanye guiding me, I hated this before even realising he was involved in it). An utter f***ing messT. Well this didn't accelerate on the charts at all cos in order to do that you actually need to make a top 100 x

9. Lil Dicky feat. Chris Brown - Freaky Friday
Ik this novelty and blah blah blah but WHY THE f*** IS THAT c**t STILL GETTING HITS/SUPPORT/POPULAR. Utter utter trash. One of the most horrifying #1's of the year (this is the highest #1 of the year here but the current one runs it close tho that's for charity so I'll give this one the worst title). The lyrics are dreadful, the vocals are meh and this song just beyond infuriates me.

8. The 1975 - TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIMEBLAHBLAHBLAHPRENTENIOUSSHIT
It's them again with their last appearance of their song. HATE the video (though it's not as bad or pretentious as the video for The Sound ew), the song is an annoying irritating crappy racket and it's possibly their 2nd worst song to date which really is something. Hate this with a passion and if I heard it more it could really be in the running for the top position here.

7. James Arthur & Anne-Marie - Rewrite The Stars (& please never record a cover of a good song again)
The original Rewrite The Stars by Zac Efron & Zendaya is utterly fabulous and they slay the vocals so much. James and Anne, not so much. The only bad song on the Reimagined album so ofc this is the biggest hit. The chemistry in the original is completely gone, the original is soaring whilst this is flat af. Anne isn't horrendous but she's not good on this either and has no patch on Zendaya. James' vocals however are absolutely tragic and he completely ruins the song with his dreadful voice. However he didn't take my advice from the title here as he also covered I'll Never Love Again recently, something that I'll be avoiding forever. This continues James' awful year and a bad end to the year for Anne with this + Perfect To Me. I didn't even feel anything but strong dislike for this on my first couple of listens but more listens and this is up there with the worst of the year.

6. Jason Derulo, David Guetta, her, Willy William - Goodbye
Why??????????????? Who's f***ing un-genius idea was it to sample that Goodbye song with Jason giving shit verses, trash Guetta production, another shite 2018 Nicki rap and Willy William screaming randomly. This is possibly the only song that's messier than Accelerate, ew at this even being a minor hit. So SO bad and I never ever ever want to hear this in my life again, a f***ing travesty on all proportions.

So top 5 soon!! Predictions?

Posted by: UltraReputation 27th December 2018, 02:34 AM

Acc I'm tired so top 5 will come first thing tomorrow morning, top 10 videos in full in the afternoon and then countdown from Friday *.*

Any top 5 Hatechart predictions + Top 10 video predictions?

Goodbye is objective trash but it’s a huge bop, I can’t lie kink.gif Accelerate is lowkey embarrassing with the video but I like the song. AND BABYSHARK IS ESSENTIAL. Can’t argue with the others in this hate chart *.*

Accelerate was just plain awful from what I remember of it anyway, which isn't much. Baffling choice of lead.
Freaky Friday was really annoying and number one in my hatechart.
I quite liked that 1975 song though I do wish they weren't so pretentious with the title.
Rewrite the Stars wasn't any good anyway but they succeeded in making it worse.
Goodbye was such a bad mess of a song too.

Glad we're agreeing on most of them *.* Accelerate (bar one song still to come) is easily the worst choice of lead this year, idg who in their right minds approved it???? Tf FF slayed your hatechart & echo the Goodbye comment. RTS original slays tho xxx

5. Sheck Wes - Mo Bamba
I watched Ajay's (a fab youtuber) worst songs of the year countdown last night and her picks all slayed *.* And she basically summed this one up as noise and then moved on. Which is legit what this is. It's just a bunch of utter noise for 3 minutes, there's absolutely nothing to this song. Absolute trash and could've been a contender for #1 if I heard it more than a couple of times.

4. Justin Timberlake - Filthy
One of the worst songs of the year, an utter messT. I remember when everyone thought this was gonna be a #1/the shape of you of 2018 until the piece of shite actually premiered. The production is a complete and utter mess, the lyrics are vulgar, disgusting & horrifically written and the video is also amongst the worst of the year, vile. Thank gosh the public had sense and this flopped pretty much everywhere and set him up for a fab era which also included a super bowl half time slot and album released the same weekend (remember either, nope nor do I x). It was nice seeing Justin bomb cos I've been waiting a heck of a long time for this haha and the super bowl halftime slot was really horrific and so unnoteworthy, I unfortunately wasted 15 mins of my life watching it live. Anyway in conclusion, filthy is diabolical and honestly up there with the worst songs of the decade for me.

3. Pharrell Williams & Camila Cabello - Sangria Wine
Oh Pharrell. I mean he's not produced a good song since Paloma's bop Can't Rely On You nearly 5 years ago (and Sing by Ed is a low-key bop) but this year saw him at his worst by ruining so many albums that had potential (hi Sweetener x) + awful throwaway singles. However Sangria Wine was his worst offering of 2018. I was honestly so hyped for this at first as I'd heard really good things about it and I love Camila. And then I heard the song, the chorus is DIABOLICAL and one of the worst of the years, the production is awful, the vocals are meh and the lyrics are horrifyingly bad. This song was such an entire mess and is one of the worst songs I've endured of 2018. At least the public had taste for once and this missed the top 75 in all major markets *.*

2. that thing & Nicki - Fefe
I cba to write another commentary for this pile of crap so I'll post my hatechart commentary here when I find it.

1. Kanye West & Lil Pump - I Love It
I cba to write another commentary for this pile of crap so I'll post my hatechart commentary here when I find it.
Tho it's easily one of my least fave songs I've ever heard.

Haven't heard a lot of Christina's new material, but I did like Fall In Line.
I really like TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME and Filthy.
Not very fond of Fefe.
LOL @ the I Love It video with the ROBLOX outfits. It was also surprising to hear that the director of the music video, Spike Jonze, also directed Being John Malkovich and Where The Wild Things Are

Best Videos of 2018: #25-#11:

Top 10 coming later tonight with a nicer presentation x

Honorable mentions:
Anne-Marie - 2002
St Vincent - Fast Slow Disco

25. Selena Gomez - Back To You
I love the video for this and it's Selena's best video since Bad Liar (this is a massive improvement on Fetish and Wolves was beyond forgettable). The visuals are fab and its a really strong video <3

24. Nina Nesbitt - Loyal To Me
This song and video deserved so much better, the New Rules of 2018. My fave Nina video and she slays in this <3

23. Why Don't We - Hooked
My third fave WDW video of the year but they slay in this and look so good (esp Jonah x). The video is also a really good concept.

22. Doja Cat - Mooooooo!
f***ing queen. The most random video of the year, it's so utterly weird and bonkers but that's what makes it so fun. You need to watch this if you haven't seen it already!

21. CupcaKke - Duck Duck Goose
A bawp and the video is crazy but it has a replay-ability factor to it haha. Don't watch if your under 18 tho x

20. Why Don't We - Talk
A pretty basic video but again there's so much rewatchability with this video. They looked cute af, Jonah slays, and its a nice enough video for a hell of a bop.

19. Drake - Nice For What
Even tho it's just typical Drake pandering, I do love how this video celebrates women and so many of my faves pop up, some def unexpected (like Bria Vinaite who was one of the leads in The Florida Project which y'all need to watch x)

18. Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Future - End Game
Yes it's underwhelming and could've been so much better. But this is one of the videos I've watched most this year and Taylor serves so much in this so I'm still here for it. Even if it's not her best video by any means, it does get a bit of a hard time as visually it's fab.

17. Why Don't We - Trust Fund Baby
The highest WDW video is the first ever video I saw of their's. A great introduction to the band and their personalities, they look fit af (yep I'm that shallow oops x) and the individual segments with each band member are cute.

16. Eleni Foureira - Fuego
She serves queen during this *.* The car burning, the choreography and the outfits are all iconic and this is just a killer pop video for a killer pop song.

15. Cam - Diane
Love the video and it fits the song and the lyrics so perfectly! Love the kinda twist at the end and this is one of the best country videos of the year, the concept is executed so so well.

14. Childish Gambino - This Is America
An incredibly relevant video and one of those examples of the videos being way better than the song/the song not really working without the video. The video was shocking but needed to happen and the amount of conversation around it after it dropped was so important.

13. Charli XCX feat. Troye Sivan - 1999
This'd probs be higher if I'd seen it more than a couple of times but its Charli's best video in ages and such a killer video. I love all the different throwbacks (Spice Girls, Titanic and The Matrix *.*) and again the video perfectly fits the song. <3

12. Ariana Grande - God Is A Woman
Ari has been the video queen of 2018 and here's her first appearance *.* As with TIA, this is an example of the video being better than the song, though I do stan this as a song as well. Visually stunning, so many incredible images conveyed, the Madonna interlude speech is done perfectly and even those screaming rodents or whatever make me howl everytime. I love the imagery at the start of the 2nd verse iirc and the last image of the video is so perfectly portrayed. A killer video.

11. Maren Morris - Rich
Another one of my fave country videos of the year, Maren slays so much in this and the plot is fab. I love how it goes from the jungle to the way 'richer' settings and Maren serves country queen during this.

Any top 10 predictions?!

Posted by: Petivity 27th December 2018, 06:03 PM

Mo Bamba, Freaky Friday, I Love It and FEFE are all terrible sick2.gif

The video for This Is America was quite startling, I think if you heard the song without watching the video you don't really get it. 1999 is a really inventive video as well!

Posted by: UltraReputation 28th December 2018, 12:14 PM

Let's just get this out of the way so we can get on with the fun part x

Best Videos of 2018: #10-#1:

[b]10. Marshmello & Anne-Marie - FRIENDS

This has such a high replay value for me and I've watched it so much this year! It's just a fun video, the concept is executed well and it's easily one of the most enjoyable videos of 2018.

9. Saara Aalto - Monsters

Saara served looks in this and once again it's a good concept executed fabulously <3 The visuals are stunning in this

8. Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper - Shallow

This video just makes me think non-stop about the incredible film and the video really gets to me due to the film <3 A beautiful 3 min video of incredible scenes from the best film of 2018.

7. Janelle Monae - Make Me Feel

Janelle served so much in this *.* Visually absolutely incredible and easily one of the videos of the year. The different scenes all slay and work so well together <3

6. Ariana Grande - Thank u, next

This is a really good video but I think the pre-release expectations heightened my excitement for this so much that I ended up being a little underwhelmed. I just feel too much about the video was revealed in advance so there was no element of surprise with anything in it sad.gif Tho ofc the video still slays with it being based on 4 iconic movies (the Legally Blonde bits + Jennifer appearing were easily the highlights) and as much as I hate that family, Kris Jenner's cameo was iconic *.* Rounds off an incredible year for Ari music videos.

5. Sugarland feat. Taylor Swift - Babe

First of all I was actually shocked Taylor even appeared in the video for this. But I'm so glad she did as it's such a good video. Taylor is serving with red hair and I love her character arc in this and the whole plot works so well. I love it when we actually get a proper plot in a music video and this is executed so well.

4. Mark Ronson & Miley Cyrus - Nothing Breaks Like A Heart

A late breaker but instantly iconic video! Miley's best in years and probs already Mark's best. The visuals are incredible, the video is exciting and the video also displays so many important messages needed in society right now perfectly. An incredible concept done to an exceptional level.

3. Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho

ICONIC *.* Ava is incredible in this and she slays with the red hair wig *.* Again love a video with a plot and Ava turning into a psycho is iconic <3 An instantly iconic first proper video and one that I've re-watched so many times over the past few months. heart.gif

2. Ariana Grande - No Tears Left To Cry

I switched between this and my #1 so many times, easily my runaway top 2 videos of the year and I've probs watched both +50 times!! NTLTC was already iconic on first listen and the video just made me fall even more in love with the song. The visuals slayed, Ariana slayed (her dancing in the 2nd verse *.*) and every part of this video is a MOMENT. The opening is stunning, the lights bit is fab, I adore the chorus visuals, the face part is incredibly well done and the ending is stunning (+ the Manchester reference at the end <3). An absolutely stunning video and one of the best main pop girl vids of the last few years.

1. Taylor Swift - Delicate

So once again, queen Taylor takes the crown for video of the year <3 This video just came at the most perfect time for me and meant so much to me as I had so much shit going on when it was released. This video incorporates all the positives of the Rep era and it was just so nice to see Taylor acc be happy and enjoying herself after the non-events of the era since the album release. It just summed up Reputation and this video really felt like the culmination of the repair of her reputation. The visuals are stunning as well, the Taylor bit early on is iconic (y'all know what bit I'm talking about x), I love the dancing part and the ending in the rain is incredible *.* The invisible parts work so well and the message of just letting everything go and doing whatever you want resolutes with me so much. I adore this video and it's my fave of the year and I still watch it regularly <3

oops just realised I forgot Happier from the video countdown, that would def be top 5!

200. Pink - A Million Dreams [8-15-22-22-33-51-69-X-83-...] - Sales: 443,600

So kicking off our first section, we have six top 10 hits and some long runners cheer.gif (quite a few top 10 hits also missed the top 200 oops)

One film that's going to be very present across this countdown is The Greatest Showman and we kick off with the only reimagined song to make the list, Pink's stunning version of A Million Dreams. However despite peaking 4 places higher than the original, Pink's version is way lower than the original that'll come later. I was def expecting Kelly's version of NE to be the hit in my chart so Pink did fab to do this well. Also in this section we have the first of eight songs from the original soundtrack to make the list! From Now On peaked at 30 back in February and has accumulated 11 chart weeks so far. It's my 2nd least fave from the movie (which I've seen +10 times now) but it's still a fab song and such a moment in the room *.*

Five other top ten hits also grace this section, all of them spending a single week in the top 10! Mary J Blige's Mighty River did nothing on original release but got a big boost from her stunning performance at the Oscars which saw the song snag a top 10 position & rack up 10 chart weeks, whilst Americans was an immediate highlight for me from Janelle's incredible album so therefore it impacted on an immediate top 10 debut and is Janelle's 2nd biggest song to date in my chart I think. Unlike Mary & Janelle, someone who was used to getting big chart success before 2018 was Anne-Marie who continued her string of top 10 hits with Then sneaking into 10th towards the start of the year, though the song quickly fell off after peaking. Anne-Marie scored her first hit in late 2015 with Boy and her first big hit came with Alarm in 2016. Also prone to so many smashes, Lady Gaga racked up the top 10's this year and Hair Body Face was one of the many smashes from the A Star Is Born soundtrack to make my top 200. Queen Gaga also had four top 10 hits that failed to make the top 200 this year tho! (Why Did You Do That, Joanne (WDYTYGPV), Your Song & I Want Your Love). Hair Body Face is such a bop from an incredible film and I love the lyrics & production, the song will hope to pass the 500k mark next week. The last top 10 hit in this section is These Days which was one of the biggest 5 singles of the year in my home country (the UK) and it peaked inside the top 5! This originally looked like it was gonna be a massive hit in my chart but it tailed off kinda quickly as I got a bit bored of it, it's still a solid enough song tho. Jess is the only one we'll be seeing again in this 2018 countdown but even she had a pretty bad year in my chart after her first era saw her get many top 10's (even tho I don't stan her at all haha).

That means we have 3 entries left. Two were underrated pop gems which I tried to enter in BJSC or entered & flopped and y'all should listen to them if you love pop. The lowest of the two is Boots by Leony, a fab country-pop bop that just missed my weekly top 10 (though it got to 12 on v. low sales iirc) whereas despite peaking double the places lower than Boots, Us sold over 20k more and has served better longevity. Us is another pop bop which explodes in the chorus. The song peaked at #24 but could get to platinum sales certification as its starting to rebound in my chart again! Both songs are their respective artists first chart hit. The last song in this section comes from Norweigen popstar Sigrid who broke out with top 10 hit Don't Kill My Vibe at the start of 2017. Sucker Punch is her latest song and an absolute bop but it got lost in the Xmas rush. However it repeaked on my final chart of 2018 and this is set to become a top 10/15 hit as we enter 2019 <3

I quite like most of your Hatechart top 5 then ph34r.gif At least we can agree Sangria Wine and Fefe are awful, though I don't hate those quite as much as you.

Not a fan of TGS soundtrack (not seen the film, I might watch it one day to see what the huge fuss is about but I'm in no rush to at the moment), P!nk does a decent version of that song though. These Days is brilliant too and will appear very high in my EOY.

These Days, Sucker Punch, Americans and A Million Dreams are great

Posted by: dobbo 29th December 2018, 05:15 PM

Goodbye is the most pointless song I can recall for a long time

I really like Mo Bamba & Filthy from your top 5 but can't argue with the rest. Sangria Wine is WTF levels of atrocious, Fefe is one of the worst hip hop songs of the year & I Love It, well aside from the video which I did laugh at, is not as a song something I've ever rushed back to hear.

Then and A Million Dreams are my favourites from that section wub.gif

Agree with what you said about Jess, there were loads of great songs from her last era but this one was just pretty bland and These Days tailed off for me quickly as well sad.gif Nice to see Boots make an appearance as well, and Sucker Punch is okay but nowhere near as good as Strangers or High Five sad.gif

Yeah Jess has been a disappointment this year sad.gif Glad your stanning Boots (an underrated bop *.*) and I prefer Strangers to Sucker Punch but prefer SP by quite a bit to High Five (tho my EOY will suggest differently, in a good way for your taste laugh.gif)

So kicking off our next section, we have only 3 top 10 hits and some very long runners with low peaks cheer.gif

So let's start by talking through those top 10 hits. Why Don't We's 8 Letters is the first top 5 hit to apepar and spent two weeks top 10 before falling down pretty quickly. I've become obsessed with WDW this year and 8 Letters is a really nice ballad with a great video but it's not their best song ever. Also hitting top 10 was Luis Fonsi & Demi's spanglish collab Echame La Culpa which initially struggled in 2017 but I fell in love with it in like Spring 2018 which saw it sneak a week top 10 and 3 weeks top 40! It's a bop so I'm glad it made the top 200 here and has now passed the platinum sales mark in my chart! Easily way better than Luis' much bigger hit from 2017. The third song to reach a new peak in 2018 is Kelly Clarkson's xmas classic Underneath The Tree which charted one place higher than its previous peak two years ago! As with every year since 2014, it's spent a solitary week in the top 10 but this year it spent 8 weeks top 100, more than doubling last years chart week! With that it saw by far its highest sales year to date and became Kelly's third million seller in my chart that's been going since 2014! UTT is becoming an Xmas staple for me <3 Also just missing the top 10 for two consecutive weeks was RAYE's biggest hit of the year with Friends, a good song but not one I really remember or go back to so I don't mind it being a multi-week #11 unlike some other incredible songs that just missed my top 10 (Break Free, Love On The Brain are two examples that come straight to mind).

This section also sees two songs from artists who usually smash here but missed the mark with their latest releases. In My Blood was ok at the time but now I find it lowkey dull and it became Shawn's 2nd lead single in a row to miss my top 10 oops. IMB peaked at 18 but had a good chart run which saw it re-enter the top 40 on album release week. Even though In My Blood underwhelmed a bit, it still did better than the entire Illuminate (?) era (bar There's Nothing Holding Me Back which was his biggest hit on my chart and top 20 EOY last year). Shawn has one more song to come from easily the best song on selftitled. Also missing the mark of her previous songs was Kesha with her movie track Here Comes The Change, it's a nice song but nothing more than that and has little re-playability factor. I thought at one point this would get an early year boost into my top 10 with a potential Oscars nom/performance (not happening as it didn't even make the shortlist) or On The Basis Of Sex's release (but it got delayed here & I don't have much interest in it anymore). Anyway it still went top 25 and spent 8 weeks top 50! Another artist that's had a couple of hits in this section to appear here in Alan Walker who scores his biggest hit since Alone, maybe even Faded, with bop Diamond Heart. Diamond Heart has so far peaked at 37 and spent 11 weeks top 100 but it could reach a new peak in the new year. The song is a complete bop and it Sophia Somejo's first chart hit to date.

Also in this section, we see 3 lead artists score their debut chart hits here. Grace Carter's Why Her Not Me was the first song I've ever heard from her and lyrically it's an incredible song + is vocally sung great. I'd def recommend it and I hope Grace can score a breakout hit or album this year. WHNM initially looked like one of those songs to sneak into my top 100 but would eventually peak at 33 and spend a while in my charts! Also scoring her chart debut was Emily Burns who I discovered on a spotify playlist with her BOP Cheat. Despite just missing the top 40, the song spent over 15 weeks top 100 here and was her breakout hit. Neither Grace or Emily have scored a 2nd hit yet but I can't seen either staying one hit wonders here, esp. Emily who's Damn Good Liar should become a hit in my charts over the next month or so. Also scoring his debut hit was Lauv, who alongside regular chart hitter Julia Michaels, with the first song of his I liked (unlike the other 2, I'd heard previous songs of his before). There's No Way is a fab song and their voices work so well together, Julia makes such good pop music. This peaked in the last week of 2018 after spending loads of weeks just outside the top 40 but its probs peaked now as it's set to plummet to out of my top 75 in my midweeks for the next chart!

Recomendation:

Total Sales to date:
Kelly Clarkson - Underneath The Tree - 1,006,240
Luis Fonsi & Demi Lovato - Echame La Culpa - 626,230

So kicking off our next section, we have five top 10 hits and more long runners with lower peaks cheer.gif

I was originally gonna split this into two sections of the 5 T10 hits and the 5 non T10 hits but let's play a connection game

In this section we have Dua Lipa, who collaborated with Sean Paul, who collaborated with Clean Bandit. And we also have entries from Camila and Quavo who have collaborated together before. Kiss And Make Up was Dua's 2nd biggest hit from the deluxe version of her smash album (which included two number one's, one of which is coming up in the next section) and is a complete bop and pop anthem. It's also BLACKPINK's 2nd hit yet after As If It's Your Last which I think went top 20 for them. Anyway K&MU is far from done as its set to reach a new peak this week and could eventually make my top 10! Sean Paul also appears in this section as a feature on the CNCO remix of Hey DJ led by Meghan Trainor. This is another hit for Meghan whose been one of the biggest artists on my charts ever (my charts started at the start of 2014) and peaked at #6 and has spent 7 weeks top 30 so far! I adore the remix and Meghan slays her parts, this is also CNCO's 3rd hit here after million sellers Ahora Lloras Tu and Reggaeton Lento (Little Mix version). Time will tell if this cna become their 3rd million seller out of 3 hits! Clean Bandit pop up here with their latest (underrated) single Baby which gave Marina her first hit since #1 hit Blue and Luis his 2nd hit ever after the song in the last section. Baby issa bop and spent two weeks in my top 10 (on very high sales, the week it debuted was competitive af with new songs from Hailee/Carly/Ari which are all still to come). However it fell pretty quickly down my charts as I've got a lil bored of it. Camila pops up here with her remixed version of Real Friends, which debuted and peaked at 16 when it looked like it was gonna be a proper single but after the first few weeks, I stopped playing it so it fell down very quickly. I think it's the only Camila (album) single to miss the top 10, it's nice but nothing incredible. Another Camila single to miss the top 10 was OMG, featuring Quavo who is also a feature on Iggy Azalea's Savior. This continues Iggy's trend of getting at least one hit per year and peaked just inside the top 20 in early 2019 and is her best song since Team, its such a bop and the verses/chorus work so well together.

So let's go onto the other three non ASIB songs. Why Don't We pop up with their 2nd track here with Hooked. This impacted as soon as I really started to get into the band and peaked at number 7 on album release week, before falling incredibly quickly down the charts oops. Hooked issa bop and one of their best videos. Una Healy scored one of the biggest surprise hits of the year with country-pop bop Never See Me Cry. Una sneaked a week in the top 10 at #9, becoming the first solo Saturdays' top 10 hit since I think her own song The Waiting Game in 2016 (though that plummetted down the charts). NSMC sneaked top 10 on one of the most dead weeks of the chart so Una was lucky in that regards (it was the same week Gaga's Your Song cover sneaked top 10) but it actually served way longevity than I expected at the time but I've not really gone back to it since mid 2018 haha. In terms of Saturdays members, Una has the most top 10 hits though Mollie still easily has the biggest hit with #1 smash Back To You (tho Hair Down bombed) and all of Vanessa's crap songs bombed x Completing this section is Nina Nesbitt who's had a massive renaissance in my charts over the past couple of years. Somebody Special was a long runner with nearly 15 weeks top 100 and despite only peaking at #35, was another big hit for Nina. SS isn't Nina's best but is still a great background pop song. This isn't the last we'll see from Nina in this countdown, though that's it for Una and also don't expect to see Why Don't We again until we reach the top 100 when their biggest & best songs will be popping up!

And finally we have the next two songs from the incredible A Star Is Born soundtrack to pop up here. Look What I've Found in #177 is the first song to pass the half a million mark in this countdown whilst Heal Me at #172 was PopGa slaying again. LWIF is such a great song, idk why I always think it's a duet with B-Coop apart from whenever I'm listening to it laugh.gif Gaga's vocals are soo good and its one of the songs on the soundtrack I've gone back to the most, unfortunately for Gaga the song just missed the top 10 but has slayed in its chart run to make up for it. Despite making the top 10, Heal Me spent less weeks top 40 but comes out higher. It's another bop and works great in the context of the movie for the PopGa part and it was Gaga's umpteenth top ten hit at number 8.

Baby never did it for me, one of their worst singles yet. sad.gif
Great to see Alan Walker here though, really liking his output at the moment (particularly 'Different World' ft Sofia Carson)
Underneath The Tree seems to return to my chart every Christmas now, it's rather good. Made it to #38 this year behind 37 other Christmas songs which is its first top 40 appearance.

Most of your hatechart I mostly agree with, same with the top 25 videos (there are many videos that I like too!) and now onto your top 200 songs.
I like "These Days", "Sucker Punch", "Then", "Americans", "In My Blood", "Friends", "Diamond Heart", "Echame La Culpa", "Baby", "Real Friends" and "Kiss And Make Up" from your first 30 songs!
Sorry, if I couldn't comment in time, my sickness ruined everything for me.

At first I thought In My Blood was pretty good, then I ended up liking it more upon relistening.

Kiss and Make Up is my favourite from the last 10, possibly my favourite Dua song actually! It's very uptempo and quite the earworm. Baby was nice enough but not really that memorable compared to some of the tracks on the album. Giving Look What I Found a listen now, it's a bit more upbeat than the songs which charted and I think I actually prefer it! It's a shame no more ASIB songs entered the charts when the others hit ACR sad.gif

Really glad to see Diamond Heart in here, Alan Walker's album Different World is superb!

As for the hatechart, I completely agree that James Arthur & Anne-Marie ruined Rewrite The Stars and it's frustrating to see that version doing so much better than the original! When people talk about the song they're gonna think of that cover instead and it's a shame. Although I Love It was a bit of a guilty pleasure for me, I thought Filthy, Sangria Wine and FEFE were all dreadful too!

Kiss and Make Up & Real Friends are my favourites so far from your countdown.

Blackpink are quickly becoming one of my faves so I was so excited for the Dua collab and it did not dissapoint.

Swae Lee is fine but I much prefer the solo version of Real Friends.

Glad to see Clean Bandits Baby here!

The 1975 should be nowhere near the hate chart tho x
It's interesting because they have quite a large crossover audience with Why Don't We.

It's so good, def one of her strongest *.* Yep look what I found is one of the most upbeat ones! If your wanting more upbeat tracks on ASIB, then I'd say Heal Me/Hair Body Face/Why Did You Do That are the other ones and I'd recommend those <3 I'm glad you enjoyed that and yep same, I was hoping some more would enter sad.gif

The quick chat:
- TIWWCHNT was one of the biggest boosts from the Rep Tour which saw it go top 5
- Sick Boy started off strong and is by far one of the best ever things that band have done
- Heaven is one of Julia's highest peaking hits (maybe even highest) but she has quite a few bigger selling ones oops
- Fine Line was Mabel's first & only hit of 2018. Look for her to have much more success this year where she's already scored her first top 15 hit with a multi-week #1
- New Rules continued to slay
- Curious issa bop and it deserved a longer chart-run, probs my fave of the 2018 songs here, then again it peaked v. late in my chart compared to release date
- All The Stars is good but idk how it had such a long-chart run, I haven't gone back to it in ages
- Girls was a rare flop for Rita, only just sneaking top 10 and having a dreadful chart run
- Safe was also Daya's worst performing single to date
- Hasta Luego got a way nicer peak in the post-Xmas boost, a bop *.*

Great to see 'All The Stars', 'Fine Line', 'New Rules' and 'Girls' all in your Top200.
