Starting December 1st, I'll be reminding you of last year's end-of-year chart, this year's album list, and, finally, the top songs of the current year. Pop in to appreciate and share the love for this year's talented artists, albums, and songs.

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:38 PM

Unfortunately I never did an EOY albums chart last year so this will just be from the top 20 songs on my chart last year.

Kicking off the top 20 of 2022 at #20 magic.gif

20 Nathan Dawe & Ella Henderson - 21 Reasons | 312 points
2022 Chart Run • 33-14-08-04-04-03-06-14-12-20-28-35-40 | 13 wks

21 reasons was okay. I enjoyed it for what it wasbta the time but I really think it's quite low down in Ella's discography.

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:39 PM

19 Years & Years and Galantis - Sweet Talker | 318 points
2022 Chart Run • 04-04-03-03-04-04-08-16-22-25-40 | 11 wks

In hindsight, I wish I'd given this a bit longer on my chart. It's very catchy and very enjoyable. Definitely their best song since King.

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:41 PM

18 Grimes - Player Of Games | 322 points
2022 Chart Run • 01-02-05-05-05-11-18-24-24-33-36 | 11 wks

Playeerrrrr of gaaaaaames is a bop and a half. I absolutely adore this song..one of the best grimes has ever produced. There's one grimes song on my 2023 EOY!

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:42 PM

17 Foxes - Sky Love | 346 points
2022 Chart Run • 19-09-06-07-09-07-13-15-16-20-19-17-32-39 | 14 wks

Sky Live is at actually as good as I remember it being and hasn't really had any mindshare with the rest of the songs she released last year. Unfortunately.

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:43 PM

16 Ed Sheeran - Be Right Now | 358 points
2022 Chart Run • 04-03-06-19-11-15-14-14-14-13-12-10-12-14-25-37-39 | 17 wks

Be Right Now is still the epitome of perfection from ED. Nothing he's done since has topped it and to be honest the album was full of bops. Unfortunately he's regressed back to sombre and sad and I don't like it.

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:44 PM

By the way if you had any doubt that i was gay, just look at the artists that have the most songs on my EOY for 2023!

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:46 PM

15 • Rina Sawayama - This Hell | 391 points
2022 Chart Run • 40-30-10-05-05-03-08-09-06-08-07-11-18-23-30-36 | 15 wks

I remember totally fighting against this song at the time of it's release and only realised it was a pride song a couple of months later when I eventually charted it. It's an amazing idea to bring gay and the struggles we still face.

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:48 PM

14 • Beyoncι - Break My Soul | 394 points
2022 Chart Run • 28-15-10-05-01-01-02-01-03-04-11-26-34-39 | 14 wks

You can't break my souuuul. You can't break my souuuul. This was so iconic at the time but honestly what even is this era. How is it still going on? How is she still releasing songs from Renaissance. It doesn't make sense to me. At all. Give us some new bops please ma'am.

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:49 PM

13 • Sigrid - It Gets Dark | 406 points
2022 Chart Run • 39-37-32-18-17-12-11-17-18-17-13-09-06-06-05-12-29-36-39 | 19 wks

This was one that took an absolute age to grow on me but that video oh my. It's amazing for all the right reasons. Low budget #QUEN

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:50 PM

12 • Shawn Mendes - When You're Gone | 415 points
2022 Chart Run • 27-18-09-01-01-01-01-06-07-13-10-17-24-26-38 | 15 wks

Has the sexy Shaun Mendes released anything since this? I don't know cause I ain't heard it. This is definitely the highlight of his career thus far.

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:52 PM

11 • David Guetta, Becky Hill & Ella Henderson - Crazy What Love Can Do | 427 points
2022 Chart Run • 40-29-21-15-09-06-07-09-05-05-11-07-07-13-18-27 | 16 wks

And at #11 we have another Ella Henderson track. Though this one features two greats of the dance genre though regarding this year, that sounds like a stretch of a description for David Guetta. He's chosen great songs to cover and sample this year but none of them have landed sadly. He has two songs on my 2023 EOY. What could they be?

Posted by: JSG 1st December 2023, 07:52 PM

That concludes my #20-#11 section from last year. Tomorrow we'll cover the top 10 from 2022.

Posted by: JSG 3rd December 2023, 10:56 AM

10 Rina Sawayama - Catch Me In The Air | 428 points
2022 Chart Run • 17-10-07-04-03-08-11-17-14-13-26-28-28-29-26-24-25-35-37 | 19 wks

Rina had a halluva year on my EOY 2022. She was superb. A real tour deforce. Sadly she didn't replicate this success in 2023 but there's always 2024 to go.

Posted by: JSG 3rd December 2023, 10:57 AM

09 Alesso & Zara Larsson - Words | 432 points
2022 Chart Run • 29-04-02-03-04-10-16-27-32-34-36-xx-38-31-28-10-12-13-23-28-24-30-31-36 | 23 wks

I'm not much a fan of this one now but I will say I think I've liked most music from her recently which is a big difference compared to when she first appeared on the charts.

Posted by: JSG 3rd December 2023, 10:58 AM

08 Becky Hill & Galantis - Run | 476 points
2022 Chart Run • 25-14-06-03-01-02-01-02-03-03-06-14-16-22-31-34-38 | 17 wks

Run was a great return from Becky Hill in 2022 though I must say her music so far in 2023 hasn't done anything for me which is a shame. To be fair I always did like generic dance music.

Posted by: JSG 3rd December 2023, 10:59 AM

07 Rina Sawayama - Hold The Girl | 510 points
2022 Chart Run • 25-12-[color=blue]06-05-07-02-02-03-03-05-05-03-02-04-11 | 15 wks

Hold The Girl turned into a massive hit for Rina on my chart in 2022. I never expected to live it as much as I did in the end. I'm pretty sure this chart run spilled over to this year so this should be on my 2023 EOY as well.

Posted by: JSG 3rd December 2023, 11:00 AM

06 Sophie Ellis-Bextor & Wuh Oh - Hypnotized | 510 points
2022 Chart Run • 09-04-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-04-07-13-22-19-20 | 15 wks

This is on my EOY 2023 chart as well so expect this to make an appearance there. I was absolutely obsessed with this at the time and I just loved watching her perform this live as well. you could say I was HYPNOTIZ-ED

Posted by: JSG 3rd December 2023, 11:02 AM

05 Mimi Webb - House On Fire | 625 points
2022 Chart Run • 11-04-04-03-02-03-03-03-03-07-05-16-10-10-13-16-14-21-22-32-34 | 21 wks

This is another one I was obsessed with. It's a shame this never hit #1 for mimi. She had so many great songs from Amelia and she actually does have a few on my 2023 EOY because this album campaign went on for a while.

Posted by: JSG 3rd December 2023, 11:02 AM

04 Ava Max - Maybe You're The Problem | 665 points
2022 Chart Run • 26-10-04-02-02-03-02-05-11-09-10-10-18-18-18-19-25-16-24-17-14-22-20-25-34-38-40 | 27 wks

This is the best track that Ava Max has ever released in my opinion. Instead of chasing trends she should be setting a president with music like this. A shame then that it flopped in 2022.

Posted by: JSG 3rd December 2023, 11:03 AM

03 Jax Jones & MNEK - Where Did You Go | 717 points
2022 Chart Run • 09-17-13-10-08-06-09-08-07-06-05-04-05-03-01-03-02-03-09-12-17-28 | 22 wks

I was 100% obsessed with this. The song, the music, the video, everything. I mean who doesn't love this song right? And who can't relate to getting drinker as the night goes on and shouting shite at the taxi driver 🤣

Posted by: JSG 3rd December 2023, 11:04 AM

02 Tate McRae - She's All I Wanna Be | 769 points
2022 Chart Run • 03-01-01-01-01-01-02-01-02-01-02-02-08-05-12-06-09-06-07-13-21-27 | 22 wks

Obsessed with this still to this day. It's Tate's best song though it does appear she's went modern cheesy pop to 2000's pop.

Posted by: JSG 3rd December 2023, 11:05 AM

01 Tove Lo - No One Dies From Love | 823 points
2022 Chart Run • 15-04-01-01-01-01-05-12-09-09-11-09-08-08-06-04-09-09-12-14-18-14-14-10-08-09 | 26 wks

I don't think there's anything to say about this that hasn't been said already but this song cemented Tove Lo in the upper echelons of pop for me. She's amazing and this whole album was brilliant. Not one song was bad which is a rarity. This song is actually really high up on my EOY 2023 and it added another 41 weeks to its chart run this year.

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:28 PM

There were a total of 41 albums charted for me this year. One artist has three albums on my chart. I wonder who it could be?

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:29 PM

41 Charlie Puth - Charlie | 16,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 09-10-10 | 3 wks

Kicking off the countdown is Charlie Pith with his album Charlie. Honestly, with the lowest total here, I couldn't even tell you what songs were on it. I'm sure I'll remember once I get to the singles I charter though. Maybe :eyes:

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:33 PM

40 Fred Again - Actual Life 3 | 20,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 10-09-09 | 3 wks

Again... I couldn't tell you a thing about this album. Quite dissapointing when you think about it and what a poor show starting off my top 40.

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:36 PM

39 Rebecca Black - Let Her Burn | 36,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 06-07 | 2 wks

This charted for a while two weeks off the back of Crumbs. I honestly think that's the best single she's ever released although my mind automatically goes straight to 'Friiiiday Friiiiiiday anytime I think of her which is probably a problem a lot of people have when it comes to her still. I would argue that this album has managed to change perceptions of her somewhat mind you.

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:38 PM

38 Troye Sivan - Something To Give Each Other | 38,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 10-08-06 | 3 wks

This is another album charting exclusively off of one song which just happens to be 'One Of Your Girls and to be honest, both said song and album have only charted for the last three weeks so these will be higher in my 2024 EOY.

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:41 PM

37 Ed Sheeran - Subtract | 40,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 09-10-08-08-10 | 5 wks

Now if this had been 2022, there would be a different album here and it must likely would have been in my top 10. As it stand, for me at least, divide turned out to be an outlier in his discography and I couldn't be more annoyed about that. I feel like he threw me a bone then stole it away. His latest album does nothing to rectify that either. Autum variations is such a snoozefest.

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:47 PM

36 Lizzo - Special | 52,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 08-08-07-09 | 4 wks

This is another album that charged on the back of one song though this song did give the album a 6 week run altogether. The album itself wasn't really my cup of tea. Just one video song propelling it up my chart.

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:49 PM

35 Metro Boomin - Heroes & Villains | 56,000 Sales
2023 Chart Run • I have no idea.

For whatever reason, I can't find the album chart run for this on my chart which doesn't make sense at all. Like at all, cause it's here with 56,000 sales. We're these made up? Did I imagine this album? Is metro boomin a real artist? I'm so confused.

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:51 PM

34 Jazzy - Constellations | 64,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 07-07-07-07 | 4 wks

An artist id only ever heard of with one song before Feel It which is a bop by the way! Anyway, this song has the unlucky distinction of being stuck at number 7 ever since it started charting for me. I quite enjoy it though it's mainly because of said song that it's charting.

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:54 PM

33 Slayyyter - Starf***er | 68,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 09-08-08-09-08-09-09 | 7 wks

This has no hope of doing well on my Album chart 2024 so just finishing shy if the top 30 on a first album attempt isn't too bad. I quite liked Slayyyter the last few years though this album was a bit less to my tastes than preceding songs.

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:57 PM

32 Gabrielle Aplin - Phosphorent | 72,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 05-05-07-07-09 | 5 wks

A five week run and this just missed the top 30 with 2 of those weeks being top 5. I can't remember too much about this album if I'm honest which is a shame.

Posted by: JSG 4th December 2023, 08:59 PM

31 The Chemical Brothers - For That Beautiful Thing | 72,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 10-10-08-08-08-07-09-09-10 | 9 wks

With a run of 9 weeks this is an impressive run considering it only ever peaked at #9. This is off the back of one single charting for me which makes it even more impressive when you think about it. Yes, skipping like a stone was an epic song wub.gif

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 07:57 PM

30 Ella Henderson - Everything I Didn't Say | 94,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • | 09-08-07-07-07-08-09-10 | 8 wks

I actually can't recall what singles made me chart this album therefore I can only assume that the album didn't leave an amazingly lasting impression. In saying that, I remember that it was 'Good Things Take Time' that led to this on my chart.

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 07:59 PM

29 Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Cool It Down | 104,000 Sales
2023 Chart Run • 10-09-10-07-06-06-08-09-09-09-09-10-xx-10 | 13 wks

Impressively, this peaked at only #6 and had a 13 week chart run albeit due to a re-entry but saying that, I can't remember anything from this album at all.

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 08:02 PM

28 Doja Cat - Scarlet | 112,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 05-06-06-06-07-09-10 | 6 wks

Even more impressive here is the fact that this album chatted off of one song, managed to peak at #5, only had six weeks on my album chart yet did better than all the songs before it.

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 08:03 PM

27 Fifty Fifty - The Fifty | 118,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 08-07-06-05-05-09-09-10 | 8 wks

Not gonna beat about the bush here. Again, an album I barely remember.

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 08:06 PM

26 Anna Of The North - Crazy Life | 120,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 06-06-06-04-04-07-08-09-09 | 9 wks

Am I crazy? Or did this solely chart off the back of I Do You? An amazing song of course, I'm just not sure if it was because of that or not. The album was not too shabby either.

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 08:08 PM

25 Rita Ora - You & I | 124,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 10-06-05-05-06-06-08 | 7 wks

This album actually spawned a couple of hit singles on my chart. Well i remember charting them at any rate but naming those songs? What a preposterous suggestion.

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 08:12 PM

24 Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster | 128,000 Sales
2023 Chart Run • 08-03-04-03-05-08 | 6 wks

I can't even tell you why I charted this but it is Lady Gaga's best album by a country mile. With the likes of poker face, Just Dance and Dance In The Dark (Which is my favourite gaga song FYI) this album is sublime. A perfect extension of the original.

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 08:14 PM

23 Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Hana | 136,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 06-10-10-10-09-10-08-08-07-07-09-09-09-09 | 12 wks

Such a long run for an album that never produced a hit single on my chart. It almost did but not quite and why she never included Hypnotiz-ED on the album is beyond me. That's one of the best things she's ever put her name to.

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 08:17 PM

22 Dermot Kennedy - Sonder | 152,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 05-07-05-05-07-07-06-08-09 | 9 wks

I couldn't tell you why this did so well. What I can tell you is that I don't remember any of the singles. Kiss me? Is that Dermot Kennedy? Hmm.

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 08:20 PM

21 Holly Humberstone - Paint My Bedroom Black | 156,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 06-04-05-04-04-04 | 6 wks

This is going into 2024 still charting for me though saying that's it's not as amazing as I was expecting to to be. The songs got boring quite quickly though antichrist remains my firm favourite from the album. What a treat.

Posted by: JSG 15th December 2023, 08:20 PM

20 Taylor Swift -1989 (Taylor's Version) | 172,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 07-02-01-01-01 | 5 wks

This has now spent an incredible 15 weeks at #1 on my album chart, 12 of which are towards the 2024 EOY. You can imagine where this will probably end up when all is said and done. Saying that, it's starting to now face some stiff competition so it may leave the #1 spot soon.

As for the album itself, 1989, the original version is one of my favourite albums of all time. The likes of Out Of The Woods & Blank Space are too tier tracks in their own right, even if Taylor wasn't attached. This was the first album I really liked by Taylor as well and I have been I 100% STAN mode since.

The rerelease is exquisite. It's improved on 1989 in so many ways though it also changed some of the songs for the worse. Style, I'm looking at you. This version of the album may go on to be my EOY 2024 #1 album but we'll see in a few months!

A last mention for the vault tracks. Oh my god. They are some of the best tracks Taylor has ever recorded. Say Don't Go in particular is amazing but they're all varying degrees of good. Well except slut. laugh.gif the lyrics are on point mind you, but the song itself leaves a lot to be desired.

19 Meghan Trainor - Takin' It Back | 184,000 Sales
2023 Chart Run • 07-06-08-04-06-08-xx-10-08-08-06-08-09-10-10 | 16 wks

Hmm I actually can't remember what was on this album and I guess that perfectly describes Meghan herself, Forgettable. Was it Made You Look? Mother? Both of those are in her best tracks for me but for the life of me I can't remember if they were on this album laugh.gif

18 Rina Sawayama - Hold The Girl | 192,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 04-05-06-06-05-06-08-10-10-10-10-10-08-10-09-10 | 15 wks

What surprised me about this album was just how consistently good it was. With tracks like hold the girl, This Hell & Catch Me In The Air, how could it not be good. The video for Hold The Girl itself was a masterpiece. It was a whole movie unto itself and really set Rina apart from her contemporaries I would say.
I'm actually quite shocked I only charted this for 17 weeks total. Crazy.

17 Jessie Ware - That! Feels Good! | 220,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 08-08-05-04-04-05-05-06-07-07-08-10 | 12 wks

Try as I might, I've only been on board with Jessie a little bit for the last couple of years. Her peak for me was Save A Kiss. And the parent album was just as sublime.
She's been unable to live upto that for me though I do appreciate her willingness to do what she wants and her creativity is on point.

16 Freya Ridings - Blood Orange | 248,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 05-05-03-03-04-05-04-05-06-07-09-10 | 12 wks

Blood Orange as an album was alright but this charted more on the back of the singles for me. Weekends was an amazing song though I don't think it truly received the recognition it deserved.

15 Taylor Swift - Lover | 256,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 10-08-05-02-02-02-03-08-08-06-06-08 | 12 wks

This is quite a good album to be honest. Not my favourite and I don't think it is anyone's favourite. This charted here on the back of Cruel Summer. Let's be honest, who saw Cruel summer becoming one of the biggest chart hits of her career? The song passed me by on the albums original release but the constant hearing it really helped it to grow on me.
Fab song, fab album.

14 P!nk - Trustfall | 264,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 05-04-04-05-04-04-05-05-07-06-07-10 | 12 wks

Looking back now, this had an epic 8 week run bouncing between #4 & #5 which is quite the achievement. It really only charted off the back of the single that shared the parent albums name. Trustfall remains one of my favourite outfits pink songs even now. It's just so euphoric and I wouldn't mind an album full of synthy songs like that at all. As a whole, the album falls quite short of her best but there are a couple of gems on there.

13 Kylie Minogue - Tension | 320,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 10-04-03-02-01-01-01-02-03-03-02 | 11 wks

Now this is still charting into 2024 and is doing quite well still so it should end up quite high on my 2024 EOY but regarding 2023, it was a banger. Padam Padam was a top notch Kylie single and it going viral on tiktok was an amazing thing to see happen. Then came Tension. It was quite decisive as a single but the video was great. On the album itself, Story sat there, proudly stating it should be a single. Unfortunately it didn't happen but I had hoped it would. This is easily one of Julie's best efforts to date though.

12 Caroline Polachek - Desire, I Want To Turn To You | 320,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 04-04-06-06-06-06-06-07-09-09-09-08-06-06-07-05-07-09-09 | 18 wks

At 18 weeks this was one of the longest runners on my album chart last year. An amazing album to be sure and it has infact just re-entered with the help of the rerelease. On top of that, it's already outpeaked it's 2023 chart position so that is an amazing accomplishment. There are countless good songs on here but the tacked on song Dang actually is my favourite to come from this album. The screaming at the geese oh my god.

Posted by: JSG 25th February 2024, 10:31 AM

11 Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loveliest Time | 334,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 03-03-03-03-04-04-03-05-05-05-06-08-09-10-10 | 15 wks

This is the first of two Carly albums to make my chart this year and unfortunately the preceeding album is the one that made the top 10. There was nothing on The Loveliest Time that really stood out and wowed me which is a shame because Carly has generally been amazing when it comes to melodies and hooks. Not a bad album by any means, just very standard compared to her previous material.

2023 Chart Run • 07-05-04-03-03-02-02-01-02-02-06-09-10 | 13 wks

It took it's time but this eventually became a #1 album for me. SIX: The Musical was not something I was initially interested in but my partner kept playing the songs on Spotify in the car and then we watched the musical and then the rest, much like the musical, is history. As they say.

09 Miley Cyrus - Endless Summer Vacation | 356,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 08-07-07-06-06-05-05-04-04-03-06-07-09-07-08-08-xx-09-07-07-10-10 | 20 wks

As was the case with everyone, I went cuckoo for Flowers when it was released. What a song and that helped the album climb my chart. As good as that song was, I did find this album quite average but then Miley has never been one of my go-to's for music, aside from the wrecking ball era. I have come to really enjoy Jaded since its initial release which at the time I couldn't stand.

Posted by: JSG 25th February 2024, 10:45 AM

08 Ava Max - Diamonds & Dancefloors | 414,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 02-02-02-02-02-01-03-03-03-03-04-06-07-09 | 14 wks

I refuse to believe this album only charted for 14 weeks for me. At least one of them was #1 I suppose. Thus far this is Ava's best effort for me. With the delectable Maybe You're The Problem dropping before the album, it really but me in a mood to support Ava with this era. How could it not? It's clearly her best song and the fact it flopped, alongside every single after that and then the album flopped too. I was gobsmacked. Given songs like the aforementioned maybe you're the problem, one of us & Dancings Done, the latter which wouldn't sound out of place on an abba album either, this album is start to finish, a goddamn bop. I don't understand why this flopped but it was incredibly frustrating to watch.

07 Olivia Rodrigo - Guts | 426,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 04-02-02-01-01-01-02-02-03-03-02-02 | 12 wks

With 12 weeks charted in the top 4 in 2023, 3 of those at #1 as well, it's no wonder it's so high on my EOY chart. Every single Olivia released from this album was amazing. Vampire I think, threw everyone off, expecting the same as her last era with the melodic piano piece though to be fair even with it being piano driven, Vampire was much more energetic than any of the singles from the last album. But then dropped the album and oh my god, I think I speak for everyone when I say we got whiplash. The album was a complete 180 to Vampire and was all the better for it. Get him back was decent though I found myself going off that quite quickly but then there was Bad Idea Right. The latter was simply flawless and grew on me with each passing week. Olivia is a star and in the future I think she could seriously rival Taylor as the world's most loved pop star. Bravo.

Also seriously, I couldn't stand Olivia aside from drivers license before.

06 Carly Rae Jepsen - The Loneliest Time | 448,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 03-02-03-03-03-02-02-02-02-04-04-05-06-07-07-07-08-08-08-08-10-10-10 | 23 wks

That NINE WEEK stretch between #2 & #3 was simply phenomenal and really good all things considered. I didn't find this album to be terribly exciting after the two dedicated albums which themselves were a big step down from the e•mo•tion albums. It's a shame really. Beach house took is tiiiime to grow on me which it eventually did and if I'm not mistaken became one of her biggest hits on my chart. Western Wind never really clicked with me properly but then right at the beginning of the album was Surrender My Heart. One of her if not the best song she's ever penned that never seen a release as a single. That's absolutely crazy to me. This album only just missed my top 5 and that's quite the acconplishment given the lack of a stand out single.

05 Lizzy McAlpine - Five Seconds Flat | 480,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 09-09-07-04-03-03-03-04-04-06-08-06-06-07-07-06-[color=blue]04-05-03-03-07-10-10-10 | 25 wks

25 WEEKS this spent on my chart and it never reached higher than #3 though to be fair it peaked there twice in two stretches. What is most impressive about this fact, is that this album charted off the back of one song alone and that was the sublime Ceilings. It was a perfect song to break up the monotonous chart in 2022/2023. The album itself was quite good but the monstrous run of Ceilings helped this chart longer than some slightly better albums which just goes to show how much I enjoyed that song.

04 Georgia - Euphoric | 538,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 04-01-01-01-01-01-01-02-02-03-03-03-04-05-05-05 | 16 wks

The first 16 weeks of Euphoric were monstrous on my chart. 16 weeks spent top 5, 6 of which were at #1. It was one of my longest uninterrupted #1 albums of last year. I think the reason I like this album is because the music is similar to Chvrches music. This feels like an unofficial album of chvrches, so to speak. Now that's not to diminish Georgia at all because that is very high praise indeed. Chvrches are one of my favourite artists and to be compared to them in my eyes is of the utmost highest praise. There were so many good songs on Euphoric. From Mountain Song to The Dream which I think became the longest running song from that album on my chart last year. I'm excited for Georgia's new material and if too much too little is anything to go by, there's a lot to look forward to this year.

03 Mimi Webb - Amelia | 988,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 05-03-02-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-01-02-03-03-03-03-03-03-04-06-06-04-07-07-08-06-09-09-09-10 | 34 wks

34 WEEKS. That's how many weeks I listened to this album for in a row last year. 34. Now if you'd told me in 2022 that Mimi Webb would release one of my favourite albums of 2023 I'd probably have scoffed. Her debut material was absolute dross and I couldn't care less for her. She released impeccable single choices from this album and I honestly think she could be even bigger than she is, provided she doesn't turn any old pop song into a Christmas song again. I don't think I've heard a more perfect run of singles like House on Fire, Ghost Of You and Red Flags since the singles from Taylors 1989 when she released a slew of hit singles, each one better than the last. In fact, much like that case with 1989 I proclaimed that each subsequent single was my absolute favourite from her with Red Flags becoming one of the most massive songs on my chart since I joined Buzzjack.

If Mimi Webb manages to release an album on par with this one this year, I would be so impressed. If she tops it I imagine I'll be fangirling her like I do Taylor. Topping Amelia is a tall order though so I won't hold my breath on that one.

02 Tove Lo - Dirt Femme (Extended Cut) | 1,356,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 02-02-02-03-04-03-04-03-03-03-03-03-05-04-05-05-04-03-03-04-05-07-08-09-09-05-04-05-04-04-04-06-04-05-04-01-02-02-02-02-03-03-05-04-04-04-05-06-06-06-08 | 50 wks

Now where do I start? A lot of people were probably expecting this to be #1 and to be fair, the album very nearly was my #1 album of the year until a certain someone released one of their best albums and overtook it at the last minute, helped by multiple weeks at #1. Back to this album though, it's perfect. Amazing. I'm not surprised I loved this as much as I did unlike Amelia. I've already heard Tove Lo for years, this just happens to be her magnum opus. There is no way on this earth she will ever top this album. With singles like 'No One Dies From Love's which is absolutely her best ever single, Grapefruit and I Like U, how could this not be a magnificent album? Unfortunately at the time, I found Too Long to be a bit naff but it's grown on me immensely since its initial release.

What absolutely miffs me is how this didn't chart in the UK. The song no one dies from love, should have helped the album chart all by itself. Such an underrated superstar.

01 Taylor Swift - Midnights | 1,428,000 sales

AND HERE WE HAVE IT. THE BEST ALBUM OF 2023, THE SECOND BEST ALBUM OF TAYLORS CAREER AND THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY YEAR, MUSICALLY. How could it be anyone other than Taylor that stole the #1 this year. The era started off incredibly strong with Anti-Hero which in an absolutely insane moment gave Taylor her second ever #1 single. How crazy is that to have been releasing music for 17 years and to only have claimed 2 #1 singles after having so many hits under her belt already. Lavender Haze & Karma were neither here nor there for me because the best songs remained on the album. Labyrinth & Mastermind are two of her very best tracks unfortunately relegated to album songs rather than getting released in their own right.

2023 was the year Taylor owned the world. 2024, she's conquer the universe.

There are still a few tracks here I wish I'd not charged but it's not as bad as the previous section. This was the start of the Taylor & Kylie invasion. Both have many songs still to come mind you. Speaking of, could either of these have a song at my 2023 EOY #1? Kylie has 1 song top 10 and Taylor has 2. What and where could they end up? Me & My Guitar is probably my least favourite if the tracks in this section. That's only because I can't recall what Adore U sounds like laugh.gif I'm here all week folks!

Just the one track I regret charting from this section. In fact there's not any I regret. I don't quite remember that's not how this works (which is the one I was talking about) but I do know two tracks in the one year is the most Charlie Puth I've ever charted so there's that laugh.gif I was late to the Speed Drive train and that led to this more or less flopping on my chart unfortunately. Speaking of flops, I really quite liked mind your business initially but the reaction to it on Buzzjack was something to behold. Scream & Shout it was not.

Most of these are great tracks. Houdini made its debut 2 weeks before my EOY cutoff hence the short run and low placing but that is definitely one to watch for my 2024 EOY. This is also the first track on my EOY to place in the top 10 at any point of its 2023 Chart Run. the first? Or second? Of the Eurovision tracks to drop out? Blood & glitter was such a massive bop! I've no idea why I charted Dance In The Dark but it still remains one of my favourite Lady Gaga songs to this day.

One Of Your Girls is probably the best thing that Troye sivan has ever released. Heck there was a lot of bests last year. Taylor released the best version of 1989 with amazing vault tracks. Her best vault tracks. The 1989 TV tracks are starting to appear now because it debuted towards the end of my EOY Chart Year. These are all ones to watch in my 2024 EOY. Smoke never really took off on my chart as much as I liked it. It's quite ironic isn't it since smoke usually floats high. Hold On To Now was Kylie's 3rd single from tension and I really wanted to like it. The fans went rabbid for the track and I never quite got the hype. I retired the song in favour of a remix which should make my chart for 2024. Nathan Evans continued his trend of releasing generic ass songs. Funnily enough he has quite a good one that's just released. I think I'll definitely be charting that one though time will tell how it does relative to anything else he's released that I've actually charted.

Boy was a brilliant return from the killers. I really like the synthy sound that they've experimented with. It's just a shame that they scrapped the album full of tracks like this. I was quite surprised that The TV of Out Of The Woods didn't stick with me longer than it did. I charted this song for 67 weeks in its initial run so that may have something to do with it but all the same I was surprised. Don't Say Love by Leigh-Anne was alright wasn't it but let's be honest. It wasn't little mix big massive hit material was it. That's Jesy & Leigh-Anne both release subpar songs and I can't say I'm happy about it. Side Effects for me was a shaky start to the era for Becky. It's alright at best for me. I didn't even bother to chart Disconnect BUT her new one is a banger. Expect that to do big things on my 2024 EOY.

2023 Chart Run • 20-16-17-36-34-34-39 | 7 wks

2 Be Loved remains a banger despite the controversy regarding Lizzo. Skipping like a stone was a great ol synthy bop from The Chemical Brothers as well. Couldn't really ask for more last year. I absolutely adore I Wanna Be Software despite the low peak for it here. I've no idea what happened there. I absolutely love grimes but even for her this was so left field and on the nose. How you leave a man was alright at best but I must say I think this is my least favourite era so far from Paloma. There are bops on the album like Bad Woman and Cry On The Dance Floor but come on Pavlova. You're better than this. Divorce is alright as well I suppose. I adore on my love. Don't let that low peak fool you with that one either. It's Zara's best song in quite some time.

Into your room was a great album. I'm a big fan of holly humberstone as well. Is it over now has only just finally gotten to the point where I'm starting to tire of the song. It should place quite well in the 2024 EOY. Is it over now wasn't my favourite of the vault tracks initially. It did grow to be my favourite for a while and then was displaced again by sat don't go. Spalarkle is another of those tracks that just didn't receive the recognition on my chart that it deserves despite my loving the song.

Everything Is Sweet was released after hypnotized? I think? It was a long year! Anyway, I think that was the reason this did so poorly because objectively it is quite a good song. It's unfortunately overshadowed by it's predecessor. This Moment was a nice song from Mimi. an OST song if I'm not mistaken. Antichrist is good. Probably up there among her best songs for me. Maybe you're the problem charts for the second year in a row however, it falls 98 places from #4 in 2022 to #102 in 2023.

Hi James, my favourites so far:

The Killers - Your Side Of Town [my favourite of theirs in years, would have enjoyed a whole album like this]
Ayra Starr - Rush [I also like her recent song 'Commas' albeit its production is not unlike 'Calm Down'!]
Depeche Mode - Ghosts Again [wonderful comeback]
Grimes - I Wanna Be Software [great to see this here!]
The Chemical Brothers & Beck - Skipping Like A Stone [enjoyed all the singles from this era although the album as a whole was just OK for me]
Bugzy Malone & TeeDee - Out Of Nowhere [banger]
Dua Lipa - Houdini [2 out of 2 for this era so far]
Alessandra - Queen Of Kings [the Nordic entries delivered last year!]

96 Neriah - Lego Blocks | 173,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 07-10-18-30-38-32-34-28-31-33-35-38 | 20 wks

This was my Bjsc Entry for 2023 and it was such a bop. Unfortunately I think it ended in a DNQ? sadly of course. I've not had the best luck with bjsc the last few years laugh.gif

97 Olivia Rodrigo - Get Him Back! | 168,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 34-25-14-10-11-13-22-31 | 8 wks

Now hype alone was enough for me to chart this and I did really enjoy it for a minute but that feeling quickly subsided unfortunately. The album was a mixed bag but there were definitely a few highlights!

98 Calvin Harris & Sam Smith - Desire | 167,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 28-19-12-06-11-17-30-38 | 8 wks

This charted through hype and a little bit of the fact that it was slightly catchy. Hearing the snippet before release had me hyped but coming after miracle, this was such a let down which is a shame. Calvin has squandered this era I think, as much as I hate to say it. He led the dance/trance revival on the chart and has now left the field wide open for others I think.

99 Lewis Capaldi - Forget Me | 167,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 04-02-04-26-27-30-35 | 7 wks

Well Lewis, I really wish I could forget you. As much as this song made the top 100 I went off it pretty quickly and I find Lewis capaldo bland and forgettable. I get that he's so popular because he's relatable and well liked but seriously, his music is enough to put me to sleep.

100 Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Wolf | 167,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 40-31-23-16-02-15-17-38-35-39 | 10 wks

I actually can't remember much about this song aside from the fact I know that I likes it laugh.gif it did make the top 100 after all which just confirms that.

91 Georgia - All Night | 182,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 31-17-16-16-15-17-28-25-28-35 | 10 wks

Georgia for me are like Chvrches twin. They're two peas in a pod and I think that's why I like them so much though they are a bit edgier but it's all good. I would love to hear a collaborative album or single from the pair one day.

92 Cast Of Six - Don't Lose Ur Head | 181,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 34-27-24-23-19-12-16-19-22-33 | 10 wks

Now there are a few SIX: The Musical songs to come on my EOY. Just so you know. I saw the musical last year and I was so impressed after initially being hesitant to see it. Great song, nice updated story for the modern age too!

93 Cat Burns - Live More & Love More - 181,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 28-16-08-05-06-23-27-34 | 8 wks

I much preferred this to Cat Burns debut hit on the official chart. Now I've no idea whether her debut on the chart was indeed her first ever song but I highly doubt it. Regardless, this remains my favourite from her though looking back it isn't exactly an impressive song.

94 Selena Gomez - Lose You to Love Me | 180,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 29-22-13-15-21-13-21-32-33-38 | 10 wks

This is literally the epitome of what Selena is capable of. If I had charted this on its release it would no doubt have been a multi week #1 but I only ever got round to it when she released single soon which itself was a bloody massive bop!

95 Meghan Trainor - Mother | 180,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 27-18-14-04-08-20-26-32-40 | 9 wks

This was good. Was this the tiktok trend last year? Or was it made you look? I'm still of the opinion that the majority of Meghan's music sounds the same and I don't think that helps her achieve chart success.

86 Meghan Trainor - Made You Look | 186,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 16-09-12-07-18-21-32-34-38 | 9 wks

Now this was the trend wasn't it. This was a great comeback for Meghan, unfortunately I was too late to it and that led to it flying out my chart in the end. I stand by what I said before though. Until Meghan tries something different or evolves the sound she does, she'll never be a superstar.

87 Taylor Swift & Lana Del Rey - Snow On The Beach | 184,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 17-12-09-06-13-28-29-38-40 | 9 wks

Now on first listen and indeed for the first week, I wasn't the biggest gab of this track but it did grow on me. Saying that, it remains one of my least favourite on the album which is unfortunate.

88 Metro Boomin, The Weeknd & 21 Savage - Creepin' | 183,000 Sales
2023 Chart Run • 28-25-12-16-19-10-22-31-28-37 | 10 wks

A cover, sample or whatever of annold song that was great. This one not so much and then again, not my finest moment.

89 Ariana and The Rose - Landed | 183,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 30-24-20-13-13-08-18-25-35 | 9 wks

Again, I don't really remember this song which is saying a lot for someone who has consistently delivered good, recognisable pop hits for me. A shame.

90 Romy & Fred Again.. - Strong | 183,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 33-29-18-06-07-12-21-32-37-40 | 10 wks

Now I think I remember this song maybe? Perhaps? I can't be sure but then that doesn't say a lot about the song does it.

Posted by: JSG 19th March 2024, 12:07 PM

81 D.O.D - So Much In Love | 192,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 23-15-06-09-06-19-25-35-39 | 9 wks

I had expected this to do really well on the official chart but it didn't unfortunately. I love this style of music so it was disheartening to see.

82 Anna of the North - I Do You | 191,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 08-04-11-14-19-25-27-36-39 | 9 wks

I think I sent this to BJSC at some point? I could be mistaken laugh.gif well after checking and updating my list of entries in the Mulgracia Country thread, I have indeed sent this. It didn't do too well I don't think, I've forgotten already where it placed laugh.gif

83 Halsey - So Good | 188,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 10-14-22-31-40-33-33-26-28-21-31-36-38-39 | 14 wks

This actually charted for a total of 21 weeks but 7 of those contributed towards the 2022 chart run. I will say I was soooo late to getting to chart this so there's that but I gave the album a spin and quite enjoyed the singles. This was a great discovery for me but I do wish I'd heard it at the time of release.

84 Fifty Fifty - Cupid | 187,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 28-24-17-10-05-07-11-24-24-37 | 10 wks

This was quite good as songs from Asian artists go. Generally j-pop or k-pop isn't really what I'm into aside from the odd BTS track but this one was definitely cute.

85 Doja Cat - Paint The Town Red | 187,000 sales
2023 Chart Run • 36-19-08-04-09-13-25-31-37 | 9 wks

I'm pretty sure this is the first or second doja track I've ever charted. I like her flow but I'm not convinced she'd ever become one of my favourite outfits artists. Saying that, she sounds amazing on this one.
