APRIL 19TH OMFGP
I AN FREAKING OUT!!! I thought we were gonna get Rep tv but omg TS11 AHHH
I'm dying!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOT HER BURYING REP TV!!!!!!!!!!
IM SO EXCITED OMFG!
I wasn't expecting a new album until next year. I can see you cab pre order on the American shop . I wonder when you can re order on the UK one.
I have a 28 minute wait time to check out!
16 tracks + bonus track the manuscript!
Can they hurry up and update the UK store... FFS!!!
I want that Collector's Edition CD! </3
i did NOT expect that OMG!!!!
(actually I had said after that red herring easter egg earlier that maybe Rep TV was a red herring and we were getting TS11,,, but I'm still shocked omfgomfg)
:faint:
I’m still in disbelief
can we talk about that album cover!!! I’m shook, midnights found dead in a ditch (well, not a couple of the alts x)
Do you reckon she will add songs to the eras tour from The Tortured Poets Department?
Ahhhh!!!! (sorry, I'm just really excited)
The way we might actually get a good new song as the surprise song at London rather than London Boy/the Cats songs
I kind of wish she would hurry up and focus on finishing getting the re-records out buuuut I can't say I really care that much about the two remaining ones so I'll take a new album instead Very early announcement compared to the last few albums, I wonder if we will actually get a pre-album single this time ~
I really hope we get a lead single but I feel like it’s gonna be another era of everything drops with the album unfortunately
I only meant her new albums - although admittedly I was misremembering how long before release 'Midnights' was announced (I thought it was only a couple of weeks for some reason), you're right this is about the same lead time so I'll lower my expectations of getting a pre-album single accordingly x
Deluxe already sold out, I kept getting kicked out.
Available in UK store
I read that her site crashed.
Oh wow.
I really wasn’t expecting a completely brand new studio album from her this year. The title is really giving more in the lane of folklore / evermore though which would be perfect for me as her songwriting skills were on fire for both of those albums. I think returning back to a more pop orientated sound as well with Midnights (and also again with 1989 TV) I’m here for another genre providing that’s what the album sound is I’m purely going off title here.
Also now thinking ERAs tour might be completely be revamped by the time the UK gets it as there’s now a new era?!
Omfggggggggg I am OVERHELMED
Midnights was quite good, so I’m looking forward to this.
A new album??? Her work ethic is out of this world
Excited for this, from the title I'm hoping it's in the same realm as folklore and evermore as they're both in my top 3 Taylor albums. Intrigued to see what this means for The Eras Tour going forward - I guess she'd only have to trim one song here and there from existing eras to fit in the block for a new one, hopefully nothing too essential goes
I woke up and saw this like wow. I really didn’t expect to get another new album lol. I’m so excited to hear this!!
Does the woman ever sleep?!
This album announcement was the first thing I read about today, like a minute after waking up, I was really taken aback
I'm very curious about the sonic direction of this one. I liked Midnights, but I hope this isn't more of the same. I feel like I want some lighter~ sounds from her!
The artwork is great! It's very sleek. I wonder if we'll get alternative covers? Did folklore/Midnights/1989 TV make it apparent straight away that there was more than one artwork?
I ordered the "Collector's Edition Deluxe CD" an hour ago. It's showing as sold out on the UK store now! Now I wonder if this is genuinely sold out or if it'll come back eventually?
I reckon it won't be back in stock as it says while supplies last and you have to order it in a short time frame.
I reckon it won't be back in stock as it says while supplies last and you have to order it in a short time frame.
Fuming! Put it in my basket to order when I got to work as forgot log in details! Not happy at all!
Went to sleep so of course I fucking missed it! I really hope she gets that back in stock soon!
Also, why is like 30% of me thinking this is a spoken word album?? Y'know like Lana's 'Violet Bent Backwards...'
I managed to secure it pretty soon after the store updated, did not want to miss out! but i am sure it'll get a proper restock
I love how relevant this one scene of Hannah Montana has continued to be
I woke up by complete chance at around 4:15am UK time and saw that she had announced this and naturally got so excited I couldn't get back to sleep so thought I may as well find a livestream as the Grammys was ending in the next 15 mins, turned it on and 30 seconds later she won AOTY. It was a dramatic morning
I woke up this morning and two people had sent messages to me about this album release lol
Naturally I wasn't quick enough to get a limited edition one. I hope further editions come and maybe even a signed version please ! I need to be faster next time.
Can't believe she's doing this - like when did she even get time to do it?!
Taylor, fans are spoilt x
I'm sure she's drained from having to re-record older tracks tbh so making a new album may feel like a therapeutic way for her to deal with being able to get through them.
NOT A FLORENCE COLLAB!

Oh wow the Post and Florence collab rumours were true! (Both were immediately rumoured pretty much as soon as the album was announced). Was kinda hoping for another Lana collab but oh well!
Immediately claiming ‘So Long, London’ and ‘Clara Bow’
Can't wait to hear So long London. I hope it's brilliant and I can listen to it when I leave London in a couple of years lol.
I'm getting some reminiscent / deep and retrospective vibes from some of these songs.
to those who didn't manage to get a copy of the collector's edition, they do keep restocking them but they sell out instantly each time. https://twitter.com/swiftpitch_uk account can be helpful but you have to be very quick!
Looks like it's resellers & their bots getting them all (unless I misinterpreted their tweet)
The photos for this album.
I'm claiming My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys and The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.
Taylor has such an impressive work ethic! Hype for this if it indeed in the vein of 'Folklore' & 'Evermore' (both top three Taylor albums for me), even If my thoughts right now are that it isn't going to sounds like them oop. Even though it had some bangers, 'Midnights' was as its title suggests, mid imo
Massive hype for the Florence collab! The Posty collab isn't something I was particularly expecting to see but if it's good, then that's fine x
Obviously hyped for this but still trying to make my mind up about the album/song titles! The Tortured Poets Department is kinda giving Lemony Snicket or like, 90s singer-songwriter album but some of the song titles really sound like fans made them up
I'd love it to sound something like folkmore as the artwork suggests but the song titles are making me think a mixture of that with some of the chiller sides of Midnights and the 1989 vault. Already claiming 'The Alchemy'!
She said that the album drop at the GRAMMYs wasn’t planned to be at the GRAMMYs and she told Jack that if she was to win the GRAMMY then she was just going to do it. She was originally going to do it in Japan (i.e her first show back happening now)
People reckon this is part of an album trilogy and the manual script is one of the three files.
https://storeuk.taylorswift.com/products/the-tortured-poets-department-collectors-edition-deluxe-cd-bonus-track-the-manuscript!
CAN THEY STOP!
Just take pre-orders for it and then press for how many orders they get! Ugh. Or let us have a "Notify me when in stock" button
EDIT: Not even on the homepage anymore!
I'll be so annoyed if they don't restock! All those bot accounts getting it all the time
Did I miss a second round of sales?!
Ah okay so I missed already
Maybe signed copies will come later ...
One can dream.lol
Get some more formats out Tay!
as IF we’re getting another album, so so excited
A 10 second supposed leak of Fortnight ft. Post Malone just came up on my TikTok FYP….
She performed a track called “The Bolter” tonight in Melbourne as the second surprise song! A new bonus track from TTPD, and she’s released a new vinyl variant with it on!
Ooh so that's how she gonna get round the new album problem
I might hold off pre ordering and opt for a release week purchase just incase there’s another variant / bonus coming!
I do hope all the bonus tracks make it to streaming eventually. I am really hoping this album is more in the vein of folklore / evermore. It’s hard to really tell but just going off the images of the covers it doesn’t necessarily scream “pop” album.
Looks like a CD variant will release too!
Where from? I'm constantly refreshing the UK store page and nothing </3
I reckon it’ll come up on the uk store later on. The us one always updates first and the rest follow on later 😭😭😭
I guess that is what Taylor meant by 3 files. I heard manifest is the third file so that must mean 3 editions not 3 parts.
On uk site now go go go
Managed to grab it yay! Hopefully there’s not too many more of these cos my bank account doesn’t like this 😭
I got a vinyl of it too, in the end lmaooo!
Got the CD & vinyl. Do I get the 'Manuscript' vinyl or do we think that'll be the one that is "standard" for UK release?
I just ordered the "The Bolter" Deluxe CD! I previously ordered the "The Manuscript" Deluxe CD. I'm sure I don't need every version, but it's hard to resist.
At this point I think I'll wait until release week to get a vinyl!
Got the CD!!!!
I wonder how many variants we are getting this time.
I wish I got hold of the Manuscript CD 😭
Bolter sold out now, glad I got hold this time
I'm happy to buy the variants but having to pay a new shipping fee each time simply because she is dropping them one by one seems a bit annoying especially because Universal will probably send them in one parcel anyway! (can't act like this has stopped me from doing it though )
Will the version with "The Bolter" be brought back into the shop?
Nobody knows for certain, but the '1989' variants were all limited for a certain amount of time but then stocked everywhere by the time the release came!
The Bolter CD has been back in stock for about 10 minutes now, FYI
Most of the comments on Taylor Nations IG post about the new variant are people complaining about the multiple variants with exclusive songs on…
New version out. I saw that coming.
Probably the best cover so far. I think there’s one more variant coming at the Singapore shows and then I’ll decide which one to buy
I still think it is 3 in total.
Loving the new version cover !
It is on the the UK site now
so the variant thing she's doing it's the same Olivia did with Guts the master learning from the student!!
My favourite cover so far hoping for the sake of my bank account that this is the last (TN did seem to imply that earlier)
Ordered both the vinyl and CD... just need Manuscript deluxe CD to come back in stock...
I hope so aswell. When the site went down during the grammys it is tpd 3,2,1.
I think there will be four variants total.
Apparently her site is down again… expect another variant…
THERE WE GO!
“The Black Dog”! with “Old Habits Die Screaming” as the lyric (?) on the back cover!
THE COVER!!!!!
OH THIS IS DEF MY FAVE!!!
I adore her but is this many different variants really necessary? She will be #1 and it feels a bit greedy :')
Probably not her say and her labels but still.
Normally I wouldn't buy loads of variants but I like the magnets and bookmarks that come with it, however this is getting way too expensive, I just hope it is the last but some think the will be 5 in total because of 5 stages of grieve theory.
The only thing that annoys me is that the P+P is ridiculous everytime. They should refund people the P+P if they bought more than one, but the variants themselves, honestly, I'm not mad at. We all get to choose whether we go for it or not and I really appreciate that we actually get something in return. I love physical media so much!
I had brought 3 of each of the deluxe. 1 lot for my sister, 1 lot to keep unopened as collection and the other to use. I didn’t collect the midnights one as the numbers at the back didn’t bother me but for this one I felt differently. I am glad she said it was the final one. The postage is a joke.
I'm wondering if we are getting a Target exclusive because that would fit the five stages of grief theory.
I wonder if this album will count as officially after the “eras” era? Like how Ed Sheerans Autumn album came out during the mathematics tour but wasn’t a maths album?
Her first ten albums are all fairly tied together now through the tour. I can imagine a box set of some kind with 1-10 literally called The Eras
Target have indeed got an exclusive but it’s with ‘The Manuscript’ as a bonus track. So “only” 4 bonus tracks.
Also, I think I read that this album will be more soft rock than anything else she’s put out before and I really, really hope that’s true!!
Funny because I was looking at target last night to see if the was an exclusive and the wasn't lol I guess I was too early. I already ordered the deluxe version so not point getting this one if the is nothing different about it.
The HMV prices are crazy!
Phantom Clear Vinyl & Ghosted White vinyl are £44.99
The CD with ‘The Manuscript’ on it (not the deluxe version) £24.99 (!!)
So sad to see prices are THAT steep for them (and yes it looks like those special edition CDs were only available through her website - GAH I kissed getting the first one ffs!)
The CD is showing up as £14.99 for me. Vinyl is on the pricey side but only £5 more than 1989 TV
So the first track on the album is with Post Malone who is currently about to start the release of his new country project.
TTPD is said to be soft rock, which is probably the closest we’ll get to Taylor doing country again
Is TTPD going to be Fearless 2.0?
I am SOOOO ready for soft-rock Taylor again, so I really hope it's true!
The special versions available on vinyl for a limited time on her store again! With a chance to win 2 tickets to one of her UK tour dates (which you can still enter btw if you have pre-ordered any version beforehand by clicking the "no purchase necessary" link)
I'm not going to be getting any physical versions of this but it will be a day one stream for me, like I'm sure many other people.
I get it's just the way she works these days but I find it disappointing Taylor hasn't put out a single for this. I know she definitely doesn't need to do so but it would have been a good way to build hype for the album.
Waiting to listen to this album is toutre.
TTPD playlists: https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/taylor-swift-shares-5-stages-of-heartbreak-playlists-ahead-of-tortured-poets/
Deluxe items back on the website for just under 2 days.
I WAS TOO LATE AND THE ONE I NEED IS OUT OF STOCK!!! FFS!
Hopefully they restock at some point!
ARGH!
I read this in a Facebook group:
"The Tortured Poets Department is Taylor Swift's first album to sell 2 million copies in the US from pre-orders alone!"
Wow that is amazing.
And without a second of music heard!
The manuscript deluxe keeps coming back in stock but for only 1 minute.
GOT IT!!!
I'll be keeping the CD's, but I will decide on which vinyl to keep once I've heard the bonus tracks. I really hope 'The Black Dog' is my favourite coz that cover is definitely my favourite of the variants!
Vinyl & CD with signed photos now available on US store! Hoping UK is to follow soon...
Update: They were added and sold out within about 20 seconds - didn't get anything as I kept failing the CAPTCHA
I missed out on both, so mad.
I'm sick that I missed out, I almost always miss out on signed items.
I Didn't even know the was any signed until now. It looks like they are all in ebay.
Promo clip posted to Instagram TikTok showing leaving the Midnights room and entering TTPD room before stopping on a calendar marked with the release date. Full of hints and clues, all the usual stuff to send some people crazy
Amongst conspiracies though it seems Fortnight is all but confirmed to be the first single along with a music video releasing on Friday as well.
Yea I think you're right 2 o clock on the clock meaning 2 weeks and that is a fortnight.
It's out there apparently
Shame it’s leaked but unsurprising as several targets & record stores have had deliveries already. I managed to avoid all midnights leaks in terms of music itself last time so gonna try my best to do the same this time. Got my alarm set for 4.55am on Friday to listen like I do for all her releases lol! Can’t wait till Friday, wish everyone did the same
Honestly majority of the people who are listening immediately I'm seeing, are those who swear blind they're not Taylor fans and are ready to shit on her no matter what
I'm very excited for this!
What is out?
the album has leaked online
Now I have a job I can no longer do the 5am waits and staying up til 6:30am-ish (and I can’t take the day off cos I have an important work event on Friday), so I am caving. Let’s go *.*
I have only heard fakes.
Putting initial thoughts underneath in spoilers:
Florida!!!!!!!!! Instant career highlight I cannot get enough of it. Taylor’s and Florence’s vocals go together incredibly, love the lyrics and that guitar riff is to die for. I adore the production and wish more of the album was in this style (it was kind of what I was expecting the sound of this album to be). Gonna be one of my songs of the year.
Initial thought on the album is very positive, think I’m higher on this on first listen than I was for midnights on its first listen. This album is very Midnights meets 1989 vault with some sonic progression. But yeah more midnights-ite than I expected! I think it’s fine for this album but I do want a more significant sonic switchup on the next album!
I think this album flows a lot better than Midnights - especially the first 10 tracks work very well together. It’s cohesive. Also love the song lengths, I think there’s only one under 3 mins & multiple +5 mins! I would say Midnights felt like it had bigger “single” moments; nothing on here sounds like an anti-hero sized hit, or even hit potential like Lavender Haze/Karma - tho I’m sure one song on here will end up bigger than those.
After Florida - the next two instant standouts are Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me and The Black Dog — the former is INCREDIBLE. It’s my tears ricochet if it’s gone midnights and it works! Love love love. It already seems like the fan fave and understandably so. And I am SICK AND TIRED of her putting a masterpiece as a deluxe track!! The Black Dog is so strong melodically and lyrically, I need this on streaming asap cos whew I’m mad at her for this not being on the main album.
After those three masterpieces, I’m not returning to the rest until Friday so below are all one listen thoughts!
But daddy I love him is next in line for me - it gives me speak now vibes and I really love the melody
Then it’s Guilty as Sin and loml - both great
After that it’s (in no order, all 9/10): Fortnight, title track, my boy breaks toys, so long london (best of these lot), fresh out the slammer, the smallest man, Clara bow
Not completely sold on Fortnight’s hit potential on one listen, but it does sound good and it could take off.
The Charlie Puth lyric on the title track SENT me. Girl why?!! We are not in 2015/2016 anymore x
Down bad and The Alchemy are very good
I can do it with a broken heart is INTERESTING. It’s good but I’m not sold yet, though I could see myself loving it with a few more listens. It sounds like someone has mixed about seven midnights tracks into one!
I can fix him is the weakest - it’s fine but slightly filler, low-key gave me extended interlude vibes (it’s the one under 3 mins)
Overall I’m very happy though and can’t wait to spam stream from Friday! <3
I must say I am really disappointed with the album :/ Hopefully on repeated listens on release day, it grows on me a lot.
OMG WHO’S AFRAID OF LITTLE OLD ME IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!! And so is Florida!!!!!!!! Low key devvoed that Fortnight isn’t the TikTok leaked version though because I don’t like the actual song LOL
I'm not listening to anything until Friday morning.
Shame it has leaked I can't wait to listen to it tomorrow !
actually surprised it leaked, not listening though,
usually it's Lana that everything gets leaked, but people like Ed S or Taylor never get leaked I thought
I wonder when the albums will be dispatched.
If anybody wants to send me the link to the leak… I wouldn’t be angry… just grateful ;-)
I'm on my third listen, and willing myself to like it more. With the exception of Florida!!! And one or two others, I find it, thus far, a chorusless midtenpo malaise.
I didn't love Midnights, but found myself wanting to return to it rather than a lot of these songs on TTPD. Hopefully they grow on me.
Album comes out at 5am
Fortnight is the lead single, as expected. Wonder if it’ll smash, or do a Slut and get replaced by an album track. Can see either happening.
I can’t get enough of who’s afraid of little old me, already a career highlight.
The first single from The Tortured Poets Department is…………. Fortnight featuring Post Malone 🤍 I’ve been such a huge fan of Post because of the writer he is, his musical experimentation and those melodies he creates that just stick in your head forever. I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on Fortnight. Honestly can’t wait for you guys to hear this song at Midnight TONIGHT and see the video at 8pm ET TOMORROW.
forafortnight.com
Cd singles available but only on us store at the minute. Really hoping we get them here on the uk one too but not expecting it cannot wait now, only 9.5 hours left ahhhhh
SO excited
Spotify is probably going to crash.
Less than FOUR HOURS til official release
I went offline to eat and there was a merch drop.
Waiting around...
Starting!!!
Ofc I managed to wake up two minutes after 5 out of pure coincidence 😂
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me remains that girl
Why do I see people clowning that something is happening at 2am (in 1 hour 40 mins). (And I will be joining the clowning, imagine if we get a 2am edition)
bc theres a timer on instagram, if you swipe down on her profile it takes u to a timer
Ok I’m ready to clown (cos it’s not gonna be a merch drop cos that’s happened, and I don’t see it being another music video when fortnight is announced with a teaser)
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived has some of the warmest low notes I've heard from her.
I’m going through the heartache of a recent breakup after a long-term relationship, and this album fits exactly my mood. A lot of songs are connecting with me right now.
I am able to listen to the whole album later but not feeling the single at all.
The album's getting some 5/5 reviews but fans seem to have more mixed reaction.
FIFTEEN MORE OSNGE f***
Double album was true!!!!
The black dog on streaming
f***ing double album wut. I love this. It's very consistent. I feel this might end up my favourite album of hers so far in the long run. Amazing.
SHUT THE f*** UPPPP 15 more songd?!?!?!?
I’m so glad I stayed up!! I just had a gut feeling the double album rumour was true - she’s been using two FAR too much over the past half year, and no other theory made sense once the countdown started!
I’m so shook (and so so tired work is going to be fun today oops)
Morgan Wallen is shooketh
Okay so far the only one I'm not sure on is fortnight. Flordia, Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, Ny Boy Only Breaks His Toys personal highlights so far. I feel like she has a lot of these songs written produced with Jack and she put them on the Taylors Versions Vault and Midnights and this is what was left. As I really don't believe the Vault songs are from the time period the original album was.
However this is the Taylor I love so very happy and impressed really enjoying this album, might end up being my favourite of hers!
Wait what it’s 31 songs

I am meant to be holding out for a listening party with friends tonight but I think I'm about to crack.

Starting now!
50 seconds into Fortnight
My favourite actress being involved in the making of my favourite song on this album by my favourite singer I won *.*
Is it samey? Yes
Is it a problem? No
She should have waited a while between releasing both 'discs' for the album ad its a lot to take in. However I when listening I don't really see it as individual songs it's more of a continuation of sound which I enjoy.
From someone who really did not like her output prior to Folklore she's found an extremely comfortable sound. Absolutely perfect music and lyrics to enjoy and zone in on. I will devour this album for a long time wish it had a winter release tho.

First listen ratings:
08.0 Fortnight (feat. Post Malone) > Really liking this on first listen! Looking forward to hearing it more. <
08.5 The Tortured Poets Department
10.0 My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys > Ohhhhh! This is probably going to be the OOTW/Getaway Car/Cruel Summer/Is It Over Now? of this album!!! YES YES YES!!! <
07.5 Down Bad > Feels like the less interesting sister to 'Midnight Rain'. Nice enough. <
09.0 So Long London > This is gorgeous! I love that constant beat throughout. <
10.0 But Daddy I Love Him > THIS CHORUS!!! FUCK YES! OH THIS IS WONDERFUL!!! <
07.5 Fresh Out the Slammer > This one has kind of passed me by a little bit at the moment. Hopefully it hits on more listens. I think this was the one I was most excited to hear. <
10.0 Florida!!! (feat. Florence + The Machine) > BIIIITCH!!!! WHY AM I LOVING A FLORENCE SONG???!?!?? SOOOO GOOD! <
08.0 Guilty As Sin? > This and BDILH feel very Speak Now/Red by way of Midnights and I'm here for them! <
08.5 Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? > This is the song that people will pin point as to what is one of her best written songs from the album. Similar to 'You're On Your Own, Kid'... I love the delivery of the title. <
08.0 I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) > The slight western sound on this is cute! But again, I expected more from this. Maybe now I know it's not *quite* what I expected, it'll grow for me! <
09.0 loml > Oh this is heartbreaking! </3 <
09.0 I Can Do It With a Broken Heart > This is definitely the 'Mastermind' of this album but more... fun?? <
09.0 The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived > THAT FINAL MINUTE AND A HALF! <
07.5 The Alchemy
07.0 Clara Bow
Will listen to the "second half" later. But I really love this album atm! No real dud for me. Some that I need to spend more time with, but nothing I dislike or hate.
'So Long, London' was a nice surprise soundwise! Up to that point I was thinking "I'm liking this but she's done it all before"
I love I can do it with a broken heart and fortnight.
I like Florida , who is a afriend of little old me and the tortured poets department. I think I can do it with a broken heart should be a single.
This is one of the stans then, eh? I’m sorry I feel like this is her worst work yet. I have enjoyed some of her albums previously as well so I’m not a hater but this is just Taylor in autopilot… and where is the great songwriting they speak of?
The Charlie Puth line, “tattoo golden retriever”, the whole chorus of But Daddy I Love Him, “I so depressed I act like it’s my birthday everyday”. I’m sorry it’s all so juvenile to me.
Hard pass but get your numbers gal x
Stunning album, I'll be listening to this daily for the foreseeable future
I think it’s a better album than ‘Midnights’ (but feel the highs are higher on ‘Midnights’).
Really excited to delve into the 2nd half! I’m so pleased with it!!
Not me humming Oath by Cher Lloyd with the Albatross from the 1 minute mark
I’ve only had a work background listen so far but I enjoyed the 15 new songs as a collective way more than the first 16 songs, so oops that my vinyl will be the less preferred work I thought ‘Fortnight’ was a good start, but it felt like a bit of a homogenous slog for a while until the Florence collab, which really is fab. From the ‘anthology’ tracks I remember enjoying the back-to-back run of ‘Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus’, ‘How Did It End?’ and ‘So High School’ a lot, I preferred the ‘folklore’/‘evermore’ leaning sounds to the ‘Midnights’ synths which feel a bit more tired, plus the lyrics felt stronger overall. So for now it is quite a bloated project but I’m sure a strong, condensed version could be curated and fingers crossed a lot will grow on me more, has only been a background listen I guess.
I wonder if she's likely to release the full album on CD. I haven't ordered the first half CD yet, so wondering whether it's worth holding out, or is that a fruitless endeavour, as the extra tracks on Midnights never did get issued physically did they?
Also, haven't yet listened to it, what in the DJ Sabrina at a two hour album!! Might have to tackle it in chunks.
On first listen I prefer the second half, and they definitely feel like two different albums.
The first I half-agree with what others have said. It’s a fair bit more Midnights than anticipated but more subdued for the most part. The second half of the album digs into more Speak Now / Red vibes I think. It still feels different to any of those but there is a key influence from her previous albums imo
Ok, thanks, going to assume the second half won't get a physical release, and have downloaded the iTunes version of the full album for now.
I remember I did eventually buy the 3am tracks on iTunes once it looked like a CD release would never happen, as I like to have an 'owned' copy of everything she puts out.
I'm living for the pettiness of Thank You Aimee
I agree with whoever said the highs on Midnights were higher, but this is perhaps a more engaging listen due to being more varied.
Making my way through for round 2 and immediately it’s clicking way more.
Just so good.
The pop girls haven’t let me down with their albums so far this year and the SCAMMYs are gonna be v v v interesting next year.
Now THIS is gorgeous review, HATS OFF!
"The songs on The Tortured Poets Department are simply not strong enough to support the weight of all that f***ing storyline. It’s starting to feel like the lore is all we have. It’s not enough."
https://www.stereogum.com/2260059/premature-evaluation-taylor-swift-the-tortured-poets-department/reviews/premature-evaluation/
Sounding better on 2nd listen than first I feel like this one's gonna be a grower for me rather than instant
I haven't listened to the second album yet.
Okay first listen incoming !
I'm struggling with this tbh as a massive Taylor fan. On one hand, I'm surprised so many people were saying they expected it to be more folkmore bc to me it sounds exactly like a mix of folkmore and Midnights! The problem is the whole thing just sounds too similar to me - folkmore and Midnights all had varied production that helped the songs stand apart, but 31 tracks of this is just so samey. I'm not averse to long albums but they need to justify that with variety.
I'm also finding the songs quite hard to follow - this could just be down to Spotify not adding the lyrics tab yet, but I feel so many songs on this have quite odd structures that are stopping me from really remembering much of them? Like it's very stream of consciousness, which worked on folkmore but as I've seen someone else say on Twitter, there she let the music breathe a bit more rather than cramming in as many lyrics as possible. Some are quite cringe - Charlie Puth, the 1830s without all the racists, tattooed golden retriever? Every artist drops a clunky lyric now and then I guess and she's more than made up for it elsewhere.
Over the next few days I'm gonna try this more and I'll probably end up trimming down to a more manageable length, but yeah for now it's not leaving a huge impression on me which I'm kinda sad about.
The gaslighting and just general antagonising of a member or two in here
Anyway. Each track is really coming into it’s own for me now and I’m appreciating more and more.
I listened earlier this afternoon and found myself drifting off as early as about track 4 and, whilst I tried to make myself concentrate on it again, there wasn't really any track that I found to be memorable - aside from the one with Florence but even that was more because of a different voice coming on rather than it necessarily being a really memorable song. It's odd because I quite like the vibe and this type of sound really ought to be more my thing that many of her other albums, but it really didn't stick at all. I will try it again at some point to see if anything grows and maybe I'll be able to make a single disc length version of it, but on initial impressions I fear this one is going to be a miss for me this time around.
I think I'm going to wait and see which tracks people say grow a lot on them and maybe try to give those more attention.
After listening through a couple times, these are the 12 I really enjoyed/will be adding to my playlists:
"Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)"
"The Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys"
"So Long, London"
"Fresh Out The Slammed"
"Florida!!! (feat. Florence + The Machine)"
"Guilty As Sin?"
"I Can Do It With A Broken Heart"
"The Smallest Man Whoever Lived"
"imgonnagetyouback"
"How Did It End?"
"So High School"
"thanK you aIMee"
Would've made a great shorter album. I prefer the first half to the second half.
I read this on Facebook:
"According to Billboard, The Tortured Poets Department has become Spotify's most streamed album in a single day in 2024 so far, in less than 12 hours!"
The photos I have seen for this shoot are beautiful.
Guests get surprised: https://www.today.com/video/today-surprises-plaza-with-taylor-swift-s-new-vinyl-record-209325125567
Officially the most-streamed album in a day in Spotify history (taking the record from herself with Midnights!!)
I listened in two parts and found a lot to enjoy. It's sonically consistent, nothing stood out as bad at all and I can tell a lot of songs will grow on me. My favourites from each respective part were Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? and The Albatross. Fortnight is a good single choice too. I do think it's much too long though and I don't feel there's much of a need for two parts to this album. As much as I adore Taylor and she's one of my absolute fave artists, I'd love to see a "less is more" approach from her next album as it seems each project is getting longer and longer I know there's a concise, varied, consistently strong 16 track album in here...!!
I love Down Bad.
I think Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me? is my highlight so far
I think this is where I’m at currently:
Masterpieces:
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me
Florida!!!
How Did it End?
The Black Dog
So long, London
11/10s getting closer to the above section:
I Can Do It With a Broken Heart - whew I was right this would be a grower (it was bottom two on album one on first listen for me, but now I’m obsesssed)
My Boy only breaks his favourite toys - the other huge grower
Absolutely adore (nearly in the above section)
But daddy I love him
Clara Bow
The Albatross
loml
Fortnight - I think it’s her weakest lead since Me! but I love it’s vibe
Terrific songs, but returning to slightly less cos of the above songs (will be in the above section with a couple more listens each likely)
The Prophecy
The Manuscript
Peter
The Bolter
Love:
Guilty as sin
The tortured poets department
Cassandra
Robin
The smallest man who ever lived
The 10 that are still great - but not standing out for me as much amidst the other songs:
I hate it here
Down Bad - this is growing on me quickly
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus
ThanK you aIMee - well this one is memorable haha, i do like it but I’m not sure it was needed haha
So high school - already running away with the overrated crown
Fresh out the Slammer - this one is becoming less memorable for me with each listen oops
Imgonnagetyouback
The alchemy
I can fix him (no I really can)
I look in peoples windows - the closest to filler there is (tho better than the worst couple of songs on midnights)
Yeah overall I’m absolutely delighted with these albums, and there’s so much material I just know will be on repeat all year <3
It's definitely growing with each listen for me
I need to see more appreciation (like Sam!! ) for ‘Peter’ and ‘Robin’! Both gorgeous!
Listened to the first part and it's definitely Midnights part 2 with more clunky and overly-complicated lyrics~
There is a lot of goodness though and it's a nice listen through. My favourites are the two songs that sound different to the rest of the tracks: Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me and I Can Do It With a Broken Heart...
Just shows if she was more experimental and less sameish with the album it'd be so much more exciting!
Also: My friends all smell of weed or little babies... anyone?
Finally got round to listening to this and really loving it on first listen! Though have to pause after track 10 because there's just too much to listen to in one go.
Insta adds to my playlist:
- Fortnight
- The Tortured Poets Department (LOVE this)
- My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
- Florida!!! (Taylor and Flo need to perform this live and televised!)
I really hope Florida!!! is popular enough to be chart eligible!
After a few more listens, part 1 is definitely starting to take shape for me. Starting to see the differences between the songs and the highlights. For me, this wasn't as obvious as first listens to other albums. I have a better appreciation for Fortnight. I'm going to stick with part 1 for a bit longer before I try part 2. Although my Spotify is suddenly now telling me the tracks for this release are not available.
313M worldwide!!!!!!!!!! 127M more than midnights!!!!! 7 tracks over 1M in the UK!!!!!!!! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Highlights for me in part one after a few listens (loosely in order of favs):
The tortured poets department and I can do it with a broken heart (really love these songs - the ones I want to keep playing on repeat atm)
Whose afraid of little old me
My boy only breaks his favourite toys
Clara Bow
Florida
Fortnight
But Daddy I love him
Guilty as sin?
Loml
Many of the other songs are growing on me much more too - which I'm very thankful for 😅 For example, I did not like Down Bad or The Alchemy at all on first listens but they have got depth and are sounding better on each listen.
Going to give part 2 a first listen later this afternoon...
Can't get enough of this atm, it just keeps growing and growing!! I have to say it was a lot to digest initially but now I've given all the tracks at least 2 listens it's really starting to click
I actually think I prefer the first half to the anthology personally. My absolute favourite atm is 'The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived' (the BRIDGE!!!) - honestly has the potential to be one of my all time favourites from her. Fortnight, My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys, So Long London, Fresh Out The Slammer & Florida are my other stand outs from the initial edition so far but honestly I really like most of them.
Still need some more time with the anthology tracks but my highlights from those so far are The Albatross, The Black Dog & The Propechy.
But yeah, I'm definitely not underwhelmed at all personally and this will be on repeat all weekend
So for me I don’t really get much of a Midnights vibe probably more in the production side of things but lyrically I get folklore / evermore.
I’ve only heard the standard 16 tracks so far so I’ll be going in on part 2 tomorrow but the standard 16 tracks from the album I think are all pretty strong. On first listen I definitely think this is more my bag than what Midnights was but I’m quite impressed had just the standard 16 been the entire album I’d be happy with this. Maybe Midnights on the whole was more varied but this is definitely more cohesive and structured better as a body of work.
Intrigued at what the next 15 tracks will bring but yeah this was a nice listen.
So far I’m feeling Florida!!! (VERY happy Florence really shone on that song too and was given her moment but it worked a lot more than I’d have initially imagined) and Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me is a career highlight.
One of my highlights: "WELL YOU SHOULD BE!"
I am changing my hair colour for this once again! It’s been a tradition for me since fearless tv:
I went golden brown for fearless tv,red for Red tv, dark brown for midnights, purple for speak now tv, bleach blonde for 1989 tv (unplanned but I dyed my hair brown at the end of nov and it coencided with you’re losing me). Few weeks ago I decided to go blonde again and am currrntly going platinum blonde for the album!
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived is going to become a cult classic amongst the fanbase. It’s Matty’s ‘Dear John’/‘Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve’/‘All Too Well’. But somehow, even more scathing and so very well written!
Who's afraid of little old me , my current favourite
After a couple of listens to part 2, here are my favourites:
The Albatross
How did it end?
So high school
Thank you AlMee (maybe my favourite in part 2)
The prophecy
Peter
This is the kind of album that I am going to uncover more and more of as I listen to it.
Loving the tortured poets department song so much - for sure my biggest play so far. But I've been listening to this album all weekend when I can and each time I uncover something new. I didn't appreciate how beautiful So Long, London is until a few listens in.
I find the second album better then the first tbh, I think the whole project is very much one that’s a whole entity rather than one where you pick big highlights, but So Long London is emerging as my fave, it’s lush!
I’ve sat with this for a few days now and my faves are:
The Tortured Poets Department
But Daddy I Love Him
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?
Guilty As Sin?
imgonnagetyouback
thanK you aIMee
So High School
I Look in Peoples Window
Second part is also very strong from hearing this today.
Part of me wishes the release was kind of split so I could fully absorb each half but I’ll go back to both across the week. Definitely impressed as a whole with this though it’s almost like the trilogy of folklore / evermore. I found the Black Dog to be stunning, Cassandra the mad woman of this album (i definitely hear mad woman production wise on that) and there was something about How Did It End that I loved.
I think I’ll go back to this (likely maybe in two separate parts for now) but there’s a lot I like on this. I definitely don’t hear much of Midnights on this on the whole.
Agree with all of this. I was disappointed on first listen but once I got over that there weren't any real highs and actually took in the songs, I've realised there aren't actually many songs out of 31 that I didn't like.
Now that I’ve had it with me for a couple of days, this for me, is one of her best albums. Especially as a complete piece of work. I get that working with the same producers again is tiring and it really would be nice to see her work with someone else for her next (original) project, however, I am in the very small minority that prefers the original Jack album over the Aaron surprise release, but I love both sides rn and honestly there’s only a handful of tracks I don’t think Imd care to listen to again.
My favourites (in tracklist order) so far are:
Fortnight
The Tortured Poets Department
My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys > I think this is my absolute favourite <
So Long, London
But Daddy I Love Him
Florida!!!
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
The Black Dog
So High School
thanK you aIMee
Peter
The Bolter
Robin
They’re the ones that I am LOOOOVING the rest I like but not to the levels I do with these. However, Down Bad is getting there… pretty quickly lmao.
I kind of feel like this might end up being my favourite of hers you know.
I really want the next album to build on the sound from thank you Aimee/so high school.
In the mids. Fortnight [
#1, the tortured poets department #2 and so long London #3b
I’m expecting Hozier to end up at 2 as he’s already back up there on Spotify, but I think she’ll have 3+4 this week! Though I’m not sure if it’ll be the ones that charted yesterday!
Yeah number 1 fortnight but the other 2 charting songs gonna go down to wire again like when SNTV and 1989TV were released
I hope the three charting songs are:
Fortnight
The tortured poets department
I can do it with a broken heart
Already at 197k in the UK. Only 7k behind Midnights' first week sales.
Great sales for her. Whilst I'm still not loving the album, I do like that we still have an act around who can shift upwards of 200K in a week. She's really unstoppable right now.
After a few days with this…I can comfortably say this is not only her best album, but best by some margin! Even more to come which is insane. Words cannot describe how much each song grows with each listen, she’s a genius end off.
Really feeling 'How did it end? today - beautiful
Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me is doing nothing but growing on me! Instantly a Top 10 fave of mine
I usually love anything she does, on my 4th listen of the album now, it’s such a slog to get through.
TTPD song is the one I'm obsessed with hope it doesn't drop out come Friday
Who's afraid of little old me , is a close second
My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys and The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived are the ones that are grabbing me more and more now.
I’m going to invest more in the second part of the album. The Black Dog is still a stand out on that one but I’m another How Did It End fan
I can comfortably say this will be one of my favourite Taylor eras and one that I’ll go back to a lot. I would love the anthology part to get a physical CD release. I imagine it will at some point but this really is very strong.
It’s a really tragically beautiful album. It feels like itms her most honest and personal to date.
I’m infatuated with it all and it’s only continuing to improve with each listen, for me. Just gorgeous.
My top 5 right now are:
01. But Daddy I Love Him
02. My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys
03. So Long, London
04. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
05. Florida!!! (Feat. Florence + The Machine)
(Fortnight is v v v v close behind)
My favourites keep changing all the time as I uncover more and more from the album. Besides I can do it with a broken heart and the TTPD, which have been consistent favourites since release, today I'm being connecting to:
- So Long, London
- Who's afraid of little old me?
- Clara Now
- The Albatross
- How did it end?
Thank you Aimee
There's only a couple of songs out of 31 I skip.
Top five, let's see...

TTPD
So long london
- 12th UK #1 album with 270,091 first week units.
- Biggest opening week of the decade, overtaking Adele's "30".
- Biggest opening week since Ed Sheeran's 2017 album "÷".
- Tied with Madonna as the female artist with the most UK #1 albums.
This awesome. Whoop - well deserved
Just been reading all the records she's been breaking / matching with this release this week and in the last 12 years - absolutely phenomenal. She's such a talent and had really great things.
And with a big potential for another number 1 with reputation Taylors version, she'll won't be dying down just yet.
One week in and I’ve now settled on the opinion that The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived is the best song Taylor has ever written. Just simply perfect.
'Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?', 'loml' & 'The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived' are 3 of her best written songs, EVER.
The smallest man who ever lived is perfection
Taylor's facebook:
"My mind is blown. I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album.
2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed.
I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough"
Breaks her own vinyl sales record in the US with 859k on vinyl ALONE!!!
2.61 million in the US is absolutely insane.
OK I finally get why Down bad been the second/third most successful, the chorus is so catchy
I just want who's afraid of little old me to have it's moment
First artist to have entire top 14 on BBH100! Not even in tracklist order either so people were definitely gravitating towards favourites etc..
The songs placings:
Wouldn't have chosen this order myself but I'm glad it shows people were being thoughtful in their choices and wasn't just like this because people just let the album play.
Big thanks to Joseph for our new banner !
I very much identify with this review linked below. It wasn't an instant hit for me but I love it more each time I listen to it and songs which weren't favourites to begin with have become just that. Good to see others having similar experiences withe album.
https://edition.cnn.com/2024/04/26/entertainment/taylor-swift-album-quick-to-judge/index.html
'One week later, my view of the album has entirely reversed. After spending more time with the two-hour sonic feast, more methodically touring through its subtleties and nuances, I am ready to declare that it is one of Swift’s best works yet. Anecdotally, it seems others are also identifying with this experience, initially expressing tepid feelings toward the album, and then realizing after a few listens it has really grown on them.'
I read that review before and I must say this is the most consistent album Taylor has ever put out. The more I listen, the more I feel there are actually some stand outs.
I now get why fortnight was chosen as the chosen as the lead.
Also, does anyone really enjoy 'Ths Prophecy'? That's absolutely my favourite at the moment.
I haven't had my wow moment with the prophecy yet but for sure it will come!
I can also understand why fortnight was chosen. Also, how poetic 14 songs made the top 14 in the US lol
I had my wow moment with The Black Dog today after not thinking much of it at first!
I loved the album on first listen but even more now as it is definitely a grower Every day I feel I have a new favourite
Week on and Fortnight has clicked and is one of my favourites. Still only spending time with the first half and can solidly say its my favourite Taylor album and my favourite album this year. The more you listen the more personality each song has and is easier to see how different they all are.
I completely agree. They are all so different which I really wouldn't have thought on first listen!
I wasn't sure on this album originally but it's grown SO much! Hard to pick my favorites as they keep changing but my most played 2 weeks in are:
1. The Black Dog - my favorite on first listen and to this day!!
2. Down Bad - really catchy!
3. How Did It End? - love the line about calling up their cousin
4. My Boy On Breaks His Favorite Toys - a recent favorite
5. So Long, London - hearthbreaking
6. I Look In Peoples Windows - I really enjoy the lyrics here
7. Florida!!! - one of my favorites origionally but has faded unfortunately, interesting but topic doesn't really click with me
8. The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived - the BRIDGE
9. Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me - takes you on a journey!
10. Chloe or Sam or Sophie or Marcus - listened to this a lot after How Did It End, really nice lyrics
Will update down the line! Excited to see others!
Another limited edition album.
If it was the 2nd half of the album with that bonus track, I'd absolutely get it. But unfortunately, I'm more than happy with my Deluxe CD's I have already.
EDIT: Although serious question... I wonder if we get the 2nd half of the album physically at any point? Like during the ERAs tour? Like how she did for 'Midnights'?
*drops everything to order* I just read about the new variant!
I really hope we get the 2nd part on CD soon - that I would be on board with !
Curious as to see how this has gone over time with you guys. The first half is do much stronger to me and I know most preferred the second half at the start, is that still an opinion held?
I like both halves, the first half more.
I do love both halves , my absolute faves are on the first half ICDIWABH and WAOLOM though ,
There's a new digital drop of three albums + a first draft phone memo track on each one. I will be skipping those, although I would like to hear the drafts. If those were physical copies, I wouldn't be skipping!
There was another merch drop just a while ago.
It’s on her web store only
^ I looked on her shop first but isn't there.
It looks like either I can do it with a broken heart or who is afraid of little old me will be the next single.
Looking like it's going to get a 5th week at number 1 in the US!
^That is great but I do feel bad for Billie.
Another digital drop was just made, these include TTPD + one track live from Paris, three different albums. Again, I will be passing on these.
I do think all these drop are getting ridiculous, I already own over 9 copies of this album, I wouldn't mind just buying the live tracks but you have to buy the whole album and I don't need a 10th copy. I think I will have to pass aswell as I can't really afford it.

Is that to block Billie next week too (in the US)?
These album releases are getting plain ridiculous now. Releasing the entire album 3 times AGAIN each with one live track... just release the live tracks individually and then package everything in an ultimate edition. It's exploitation of her fans who they know will lap up every variation of the album and just isn't needed!?
It is greedy I was tempted by the ones with live tracks but then I thought she will probably bring out a live track album and I don't need a 10th or 11th copy.
those limited but daddy i lovehim accoustic cds shipped on fri, probably will give ttpd the leg up to reclaim \1 over billie getting a 2nd week
3 of the Deluxe cds are back for limited time for those who missed out (the manuscript isn't one of them)
Signed CDs - go go go!
https://storeuk.taylorswift.com/
Did they sell out? I'm just curious.
Same missed it.
I read that they sold out in 15 minutes or less.
^ it doesn't help it is random, like many I don't sit and wait for her site to have new items all day. I was lucky with the deluxe because I was online when I wouldn't normally be.
I missed all of the signed drops we had.
I noticed the has been alot put on up ebay today, I don't know how they find out before the fans do.
Not me first finding out about signed copies 12 hours after the fact
My signed one just came
That is great news enjoy.
There was yet another drop today. TTPD + Guilty As Sin (acoustic) CD and TTPD + Down Bad (acoustic) CD.
I don’t think they’re on uk store, I’ve refreshed but nothing yet
I wonder will the be an acoustic album.
If they were available in the UK I would buy the Guilty as Sin Acoustic version, but no sign of it so far.
I don’t think we’re getting them sadly, taylornation ikdrshdsm post said us only 🥲🥲🥲
That's a shame!
I wonder if she'll ever release a physical with The Anthology tracks included
I saw an interesting (and plausible) theory as to why she dropped the "3am" and "The Anthology" series as surprises.
Signed CDs have just restocked for anyone who missed the last drop!
Edit: Sold out now
Typical third miss, I was looking for concert tickets lol.
The signed CDs probably sold out in two seconds.
Never gonna get one
I’m actually hoping that coz she’ll be in the UK we’ll have a couple more drops. It’s just impossible to know when they’ll go live!
Another restock! Sorry for bumping every time this happens but with all the people who keep missing out I feel like I should mention it when I see it!
Edit: Andddd gone again
Again missed it. Always by 1 hour.
Thank you!
There was a merch drop today - "TTPD official lyric collection."
Ffs another signed drop and sold within 1 minute.
Ffs I got the notification but only read it an hour later due to working FFS!!! 😭
I was strimming the lawn when I saw it during my break. I feel like we are never going to get one.
Signed up
GO GO GO!
I got one! Yayyyyy!
---
I was contemplating not getting one in the end as I (low-key) prefer when they sign the actual booklet of the album </3 I need to find some nice frames or something for my other autographed stuff. Looks like this one is staying on her website a bit longer than normal. Due to her being in the UK, I presume she's been able to hand sign more.
I wish she was able to do some TV promotion. Sucks that shows like Graham Norton/Jonathan Ross aren't on air atm. </3
^ it had sold but the was a restock. Well done. I also got 1 for me and my sister it is my first Taylor autograph. It is strange because the morning drop the bot didn't pick it up but I think that was lucky for me so I can grab it lol, I am not normally awake at that Time of day.
The way I had it in my basket and it sold out as I was inputting my details... sigh! Glad that you both got copies!
That sucks, fingers crossed you get another chance.
I think this will happen quite a bit whilst she's in the UK. I suspect the next signed options will be next week around the same time (Tuse/Wed) and then the same the week after.
I have 'RED (Taylor's Version)' CD signed, but I'm kinda gutted she didn't continue it for SN or 1989 TVs </3 I was hoping to maybe get a full set of TVs (I believe she did signed copies for 'Fearless' TV too but I missed that boat )
The was a digital drop for a few hours.
I don’t think she’ll ever push another single from the album. I think her team are more obsessed with keeping the album at #1
^ that would be a shame and a missed opportunity.
ICDIWABH has so much potential to be the next single seeing how well it’s doing. She should announce it as the 2nd single from the album
"I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" has been sent to https://radiodate.it/radio-date/taylor-swift-i-can-do-it-with-a-broken-heart-236897-02-07-2024-radiodate/ this week, which means that this is going to be the next track to be properly pushed from the album.
Bit weird she waited this long to announce it as a single it's probably peaked already
That feels pointless, it's already had its moment.
Guilty As Sin is the best song. Soz.
This album is just... near perfect. It's aged so f***ing beautifully!
Continues to get better and better.
She's expected to block Kanye's album in the US
'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT' is now certified 2X PLATINUM in the UK!
Excellent! I’m still infatuated by this album.
The Taylor voodoo is alive and WELL!
Idk if this is referring to last week against Kanye or this week against Chappell but...
Maybe I wouldn't mind the digital editions tactic so much if they included more than one additional track per version... $4.99 each time just to get one new song...
It's such a great album and it deserves its success, and as posted above by Tafty it's evidently still popular enough to naturally manage weeks at #1 without the digital albums. So it's confusing why Taylor and/or her team/label are doing this with such frequency and making her come across badly, with the perception being that she's going out of her way to block other artists.
Here’s my theory on it (and obvz idk if it’s true ofc)
She wants the album with the most weeks at number 1. Whether that’s just female solo artist or general album idk (I know Adele is the record for solo female with 24(?) weeks - I’m not sure what the record is for and who holds it overall). When she is close to her competitors, that’s when she releases the digital variants, to try and remain and solidify the number 1. When she isn’t close at all, that’s when I think she doesn’t bother.
It really doesn’t bother me coz I haven’t bought a single one (and it seems no one else really does either) so it is what it is to me tbh.
I like this album but it's absolute desperation now and is going to start a downfall in her popularity, it just looks bad taste now. I've gone back to not being able to stand her and I know a lot of people who feel the same, I think her good fortune is about to run out. This isn't still the biggest album out there 14 weeks down the line and isn't the best this year. It's actually infuriating seeing her on socials now
If she really truly wanted these extra songs out there she would a) put them all put together b) give them out on streaming. As she has not to me it really shows a lack of actual care or wanting to release them for the fans and more a desperation to cling on to the top
Most artists would release them onto streaming or onto a deluxe she hasn't and to me that's making the mockery of her famabse
My problem isn't the tactics per se - they are free to do what they want - but it's the obvious need to divide other artists into two groups, her faves and others. When her friend is releasing, she does not release new version but she did absolutely everything she could to block Billie, like a childish revenge or something. I mean... grow up!
The album is so high on Billboard thanks to number of songs on it. Nothing besides the first two singles has stayed on streaming charts. Billie, on the other hand, has four, and more acclaimed album so she's the true winner of this battle.
