I'm not gonna upload the song via yousendit or whatever because I might get a telling off So if you go on http://perezhilton.com/ It's on the first page of his website
I love it

I have to say I am VERY impressed Seriously this is going to be one huge song with or without comic relief. Their voices work together so well and it's like a mixture of both their styles whilst still keeping the whole rock anthem feel.
Love it
Million seller anyone?

Posted by: Josh 30th January 2007, 05:11 PM
It wont play..
Posted by: Josh 30th January 2007, 05:24 PM
Ahh dont worry just downloaded it !
Right then.. - Not to keen on the opening, the original by Joe Perry is a legendary guitar riff, but they've replaced it with some weird techo stuff - They've changed the words around so it suits the "female" although they coulda changed it better - On the "Walk This Way" they could of but more effort into it, like when Steven Tyler - I don't like how they've added all this pop stuff in parts - On the 3rd verse, where they talk, it would sound ALOT better if they proper rapped it, and it sounds funny with the english accents
Overall, It's ok, although I really do think they've murded one of the best RnB/Rock colaborations of all time, and one of my favorite songs of all time

I'm a HUGE fan of both groups but this is absolute $h!t and a disgrace to one of my all time favourites and one of the most important songs too
The riff is exactly the same too so they could have at least changed it slightly I hope it grows on me..

Well the whole point of releasing this song is to raise money for Comic Relief. Using the biggest girl bands atm is the best way to sell the records and raise the most money. I highly doubt they'd choose All Saints who's album has just flopped, when they have a girl band who in the past year have scored three top 10 singles, a number 1 album and a been on an arena tour!

For everyone who hasn't heard it yet, go to myspace and search for Girls Aloud, its up on their profile now, the page with the girls in a black and white photo!! (if that helps)
I heard i today for the first time and i enjoyed it, hopefully it will sell huge amounts because its for charity, the voices of the girls are more impressive than i was expecting, but it doesn't really have the punch of theoriginal, but there something about that just makes me smile and sing along (cant say the same for my typing skills)
will definetly be buying this in March!!!!
Posted by: thisispop 31st January 2007, 08:04 PM
Can I just say having heard it twice...
I think this is arguably the worst cover version of all-time. Musically it is just a total mess, they have taken everything great about the Aerosmith v Run DMC collaboration and have completely and utterly destroyed it.
This is by some distance the worst thing that either band have done in their careers.
Which is quite an achievement from two pop bands whom I actually quite like.
In short it is the musically equivalent of Jade, Danielle & Jo thinking that doing CBB would be a good career move.
If there is any karma in the world then both bands will split before the end of 2007.
Suddenly the comeback All Saints album "Studio 1" does not seem so bad. And if I was Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton & Victoria Beckham then I would be laughing my head off at this career suicide of a charity single.
Posted by: Matt Aloud 31st January 2007, 08:35 PM
i wish people would stop trying to compare it directly to Run DMC/Aerosmith.
They are two pop acts It was never gonna be the same, and I think there are plenty of covers out there that are far worse
Posted by: diamondlad 31st January 2007, 08:39 PM

Are you serious...?? How can you NOT compare it to Aerosmith/Run DMC.....? You think that just because something is for 'charidee' then that is an excuse for churning out sub-standard material....? I dont think so, and Bob Geldof, Midge Ure and a whole lot of genuinely great Pop Stars certainly didn't think so in the mid-80s either.....

I think everybody is forgetting what Comic Relief singles are about.
They are meant to be fun and never really are meant to be good. They are novelty records. McFly, Gareth Gates, Tony Christie, Westlife and Boyzone singles were awful!

Let's go back to 10 years ago - The last time a Girl group did the Comic Relief single.
Funny thing was I thought it was a really good pop record.
Considering that both Girls Aloud & Sugababes have done more than their fair share of great pop singles while producer Dallas Austin production credits includes:
"Push the Button" (Sugababes) "Ugly" (Sugababes) "Trick Me" (Kelis) "In Demand" (Texas) "Stuck" (Stacie Orrico) "Cool" (Gwen Stefani) "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops) (Blu Cantrell) "Don't Let Me Get Me" (P!nk) "Just like a Pill" (P!nk) "Left Outside Alone" (Anastacia) "Sick and Tired" (Anastacia) "Sunrise" (Duran Duran) "Creep" (TLC) "Unpretty" (TLC) "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg" (TLC) "Just a Little While" (Janet Jackson) "Motownphilly" (Boyz II Men) "The Boy Is Mine" (Brandy and Monica)
Then my ears find it incredible the rubbish they are hearing!!!
Having read threads on both PopJustice & DigitalSpy their consensus is that this new Comic Relief single is shockingly poor. While on BBC6 Music they are debating whether the new Comic Relief single is worse than Madonna's American Pie (which was recently voted the worst cover version of all-time!)
Posted by: spiker 1st February 2007, 09:53 PM
but the Spice Girls single was already on their album and wasn't actually recorded for Comic Relief was it. It was just adapted to it.
I still think people are over-reacting. Uptown Girl, All About U, Amarillo, When The Going Gets Tough are all novelty songs and so is Walk This Way.
If Dallas Austin was to work with both bands again on their own project they WOULD have a brilliant song, no doubt.
And in my opinion the original was c**p anyway

I like Sugababes and I like GA, but I hate this. The reason is, is that with covers of such high profile songs like this, you can never make it your own. No matter how much you chane the instrumentation and the lyrics, this'll always be RunDMC and Aerosmith.

But why cant they be good...? That't the question... Are Pop Stars just utterly incapable of actually producing a decent record for Charity, you know, one that you would actually listen to after the fact and not be mortified or embarrassed by ownership....?
In fact, why do we even need a record anyway....? Do people really need some kind of inducement to be charitable...? What's wrong with just giving the four quid you'd spend on the CD direct to Comic Relief...? For some of us, Charity is NOT just a one-night stand, if you get my drift....

Definitely agree with the Sugababes vs. All Saints comment How AMAZING would that be (although it's not looking too good for Saints at the moment )
However my opinion on the song.. i FOOKING LOVE it. Amelle has the best part and Keisha's adlibs are AMAZE. Nadine has a good voice but compared to Keisha.. she sounds $h!te imo. The video is definitely GA's best and up there with Sugababes video's.

It's anything but bland imo. It has a great raw sound in it unlike this over-produced mess of a cover. The original is an absolute classic, and one of the first rock/rap collaberations. One of the best songs of the 80's imo.

Correct Scotty, the Run DMC/Aerosmith version is a totally classic and seminal track... Nu Metal/Rock Rap/Gangsta Rap got all their ideas from this tune... Anything but bland... Frankly, if you think the 80s version is bland then you're either dead from the neck up or your brain's been infected by so much manufactured MUZAK then you dont even know what good music is anymore....

Personally I thought Band Aid was a $h!t song with good lyrics, however this is the best Comic Relief song made imo because every single one of them in the past have been complete c**p but I do think fairly highly of this one. I realise that this topic is about the song but even anyone who doesn't like this song or them as a band must admit that Sugababes really do have great vocal talent and that is definitley proven when you see them live, they do actually really work hard at what they do and are the best pop act around in the current market imo. This is coming from someone who isn't a fan of pop music in paticular but Sugababes are just brilliant at what they do imo.

Exactly my thoughts too on Sugababes, without them this would sound alot worse
All Saints were the 90's lad's girlband and now it's Sugababes for '00's. And yeah they are talented which is why they don't make manufactured chaff
Just generally decent

Definitley agree with that, All Saints are quite underrated currently though but as such I think they're attempting to sound similar to Sugababes now when it would have been better had they maybe stuck to what they were good at, that way Sugababes would have their own style which they were good at and so would All Saints. Having said that they have never been that dis-similar to one another in terms of sound but I just think maybe All Saints aren't having the sucess Sugababes are having is because maybe the music industry has moved on, however All Saints are still my 2nd favourite girlband.

I don't think All Saints are trying to sound like Sugababes AT ALL.
Their style is completely different to all "pop" at the moment imo.

'Rock Steady,' really did sound very alike to a Sugababes single to me.

It wasn't any Sugababes song in paticular I just thought it sounded a lot like something Sugababes would make, it was probably closest to 'Hole In The Head.'
I didn't understand the Girls Aloud comparision at all though.

I honestly can't see any difference between HITH and RS.

I presume you mean resemblence as difference would mean that you agreed with me that they sounded similar?

Anything but bland... Frankly, if you think the 80s version is bland then you're either dead from the neck up or your brain's been infected by so much manufactured MUZAK then you dont even know what good music is anymore....
well if you can't respect people have different musical tastes your dead from the neck up
