BuzzJack Music Forum _ Katy Perry _ K6 - The sixth album

Seems promising to me!

Posted by: Amanda Hugginkis 4th February 2023, 08:44 PM

Good! Type to include Walking on Aie on the album and to relesse that as the fiest single.

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 5th February 2023, 12:06 AM

Seem like a good path for her to take I think.

Posted by: Jessie Where 5th February 2023, 01:17 PM

She is looking mighty fine indeed!

Posted by: Amanda Hugginkis 5th February 2023, 03:16 PM

If anything turns things around, it HAS to be a dance album, with a Halloween song.

Posted by: RobBot 6th February 2023, 06:40 PM

I would looooove that sound for her. I truly don’t think she’ll have a big hit unless it happens to take off on TikTok so she may aswell service the gays and have a bit of fun.

If she could work with SG Lewis, that would be PERFECT.

Posted by: 365 13th February 2023, 04:38 PM

I really wish she'd write some songs with Tove Lo. Like 'Cool' or 'Grapefruit' type sound would really work for her.

Posted by: J00prstar 13th February 2023, 09:14 PM

I thought she would just stop tbh! Good on her for keeping at it. She's not too late to have a resurgence a la Miley

Posted by: neill2407 6th May 2023, 08:15 PM

She needs to go back to her earlier sound from prism era or teenage dream. Witness and smile were pale in comparison to her earlier work. The tracks just weren’t strong enough to produce decent hits.

Posted by: Envoirment 7th April 2024, 12:26 AM

Apparrently Katy held a private album listening party for some industry people recently to really good feedback and the album is mostly finished, exciting!

Also she's been trending on twitter after a journalist said that during the Witness era her downfall was "planned by some industry people" and that it was inorganic. Whether or not that is true, a number of hashtags have been trending on twitter and Witness has risen to #1 in multiple countries iTunes album chart and some of the songs rising up the songs charts as well as appearing on Apple Music.

Would love it if Katy could have a comeback with her upcoming album. The sentiment towards her seems to be very positive and I'm sure with the right song(s) she could have moderate-big hits again!

I’d be so here for K6 being a major comeback for Katy. Let’s hope!

For me, her lead singles are always killer (I’m counting these as being I Kissed a Girl, California Gurls, Roar, Chained to the Rhythm and Never Really Over), so I have faith that she’ll deliver again with the K6 lead. wub.gif

Rooting for her to pull it off!

Posted by: Anita Hanjaab 8th April 2024, 12:16 PM

It was no conspiracy. It flopped due to awful single chpices and Katy P's own terrible marketing and goofs.

Posted by: -Jay- 8th April 2024, 12:54 PM

^ A journalist who's written for Observer and Huffington Post made the claim that trashing Katy Perry was a deliberate move from journalists at that time, because it guaranteed clicks, generating a lot of money. So it's whether he's to be believed or not - but considering it's very true that the internet was full of anti-Katy content that year, perhaps his claim is true.

Posted by: Jessie Where 8th April 2024, 01:00 PM

I do feel like it was a botched campaign and she left it too long to come back, but it's true that she wasn't exactly highly regarded at that point either.

Posted by: Sour Candy 8th April 2024, 01:07 PM

Few journalists chasing clicks does not equal the industry planning her to fail which has been the discourse here.. Obvously the label did everything they could to sell the album, but the choices were just.... wrong. Bon Appetit wasn't a good second single (they tried to repeat what happened with Dark Horse) and Swish Swish bish was like a flavour of the month.

Also, I don't think Skip Marley wasn't needed for 'Chained' - to include him and the album cover art were choices.

Posted by: Jessie Where 8th April 2024, 01:22 PM

I thought the album cover was spectacular!

Shame the actual album itself wasn't sad.gif

Posted by: RobBot 8th April 2024, 03:40 PM

I don't think media can be blamed for the album's critical response, Witness just isn't a strong commercial album and I don't think there were many strong single choices off of it.

That being said, they can obviously be blamed for the way she was viewed as an artist, I've never seen such a rapid decline in favour. She was SO loved during Teenage Dream and Prism, then all of her goodwill and good fortune just kind of vanished? I can't help think the 'Bad Blood' saga did a huge damage to that, but there just seemed to be an odd backlash to her that she seemed at odds with what was happening. She just cut her hair?

I'd love to see support regained for her. I don't know if she has it in her for a full commercial success of an album, I'm not sure if she'd be deemed too old now for full radio support even, but it'd be great if we could get a PROPERLY good album from her and the feels of something that at least resembles positivity from the GP. Even if she could pull off Pink level success, that'd be a win at this point imo.

100% THIS

It's not a conspiracy at all.

And this!

Posted by: Scene 12th April 2024, 11:30 AM

She needs to give us another Never Really Over - both the song and video were a welcome return to form!

Posted by: Long Dong Silver 13th April 2024, 02:33 PM

Harleys in Hawaii would have bren a grrat follow up single ... especially if she established that sound with Tsunami, following Roulette, as 2nd Witness song!

Posted by: -Jay- 15th April 2024, 07:48 AM

I forgot that she did this before, for Witness - and it was on the same date! ohmy.gif

CAMP!

New logo unveiled on her socials. We're CLOSE!

Posted by: Jessie Where 22nd May 2024, 01:00 PM

She looks absolutely 🔥🔥 at the moment!

Posted by: Envoirment 22nd May 2024, 07:48 PM

I really hope the material is great and she delivers undeniable bops and has a massive comeback the likes of which we rarely see.

Katy perry having a "Flowers" moment please *_*

Apparantly she has already filmed a music video which is her most expensive to date...

I have a feeling it'll be a big budget comeback. Come slay us Katy! sob.gif

Posted by: RobBot 22nd May 2024, 09:09 PM

Just joined her broadcast channel on Instagram where she says “today is the 143rd day of the year, I love you”, I’ve seen her make other references to 143 in the last week. Idk if it has any relevance.

Posted by: RobBot 22nd May 2024, 09:09 PM

SO HYPED THOUGH

Well, bring it on!

Posted by: Scene 26th May 2024, 12:43 PM

Excited! A June release?

Posted by: Doomsday Dong 26th May 2024, 07:43 PM

My sourcw tells mw the song will be called Flowers? (HELL NO!!)

Posted by: RobBot 27th May 2024, 05:11 PM

She’s definitely going to go all out pop with this, which I think is probably the right way to play this. People won’t want serious or intellectual from Katy, she’s your straight up, simple, pop girl and songs like Espresso smashing at current are proof that there’s very much still an appetite for cute summery bops.

Katy needs her Cappuccino.

Recently been listening to Katy's earlier albums, I'm so ready to hear new music from her heart.gif

Posted by: -Jay- 6th June 2024, 05:33 PM

(Thank you Lotita for bringing this tweet to my attention!)

This sounds so exciting?! cheeseblock.png It would honestly be a highlight of the year if Katy smashed with this comeback!

Posted by: Scene 6th June 2024, 05:55 PM

Omfg cheeseblock.png Even better than Teenage Dream???

Posted by: Sour Candy 6th June 2024, 05:57 PM

That seems great on paper, but if the album is for instance 14 tracks long, 8 bops doesn't make it a masterpiece and her "best body of work". But I'm intrigued. Wonder if there will be any singles or is it a surprise release?

Posted by: Jessie Where 6th June 2024, 09:18 PM

I can't really see them going for a surprise release of the album for an act like Katy, especially if they're going for a comeback.

If she can actually pull this off, it'll show that anyone can!

Posted by: Scene 6th June 2024, 09:58 PM

I agree, I think it would make more sense for Katy to release a single ahead of the album to create some buzz, and then to drop the second single with the album.

Posted by: Doomsday Dong 6th June 2024, 10:19 PM

These flops were entirely of her own making. She had the material for two mega huge eras and one Prism level era, after elevating Prism to TD levels, with Witness, but no.

Jole she can pull it off though! Her pop is miiles ahead of Taylor Swift's trite pop. She deserves it.

Posted by: Envoirment 7th June 2024, 12:14 AM

Dont' know if it's just me but seems there's a genuine buzz/excitement around Katy in general in the run up to the album? I believe her discography has increased streaming-wise most noticeably Teenage Dream.

If the album is strong with lots of bops, I wouldn't be surprised if she manages another big hit era *_*

I think she did kind of mess up/let it happen, the biggest mistake was leaving it way too long between Prism and the next era (which she then made a complete dog's dinner of)

It felt like she'd rebuilt a little bit of the momentum again with 'Never Really Over', but then immediately undone that with 'Small.Talk' and put herself right back at square one.

It's good that the public basically decides what songs are singles worthy after the album release lol

Yeah, but they need to get people on board and to actually care before we get to an album.

Posted by: HausofKubrick 8th June 2024, 07:19 PM

I'm in the rare camp of loving Witness but Smile was a big misstep. So 4/5 albums being HITS for me: colour me hyped for her return. I think there's a lot of goodwill towards her too so hopefully she can also have some success not that it's the be all and end all.

I want a Roulette-style high production beauty if I could have anything *.*
