I guess D-Block Europe will finally get a #1 album, it’s a shame The Reytons didn’t release this week instead of next versus Green Day.
4. The Vaccines
5. D-Block Europe
6. Magnum
7. NOW Yearbook Extra - 1988
8. Bill Ryder-Jones
10. Luxury Soul 2024

20. Exit Eden
21. Unknown T
24. The Ironsides
25. Admin van Buuren
21 Savage has an album out this week too, I'm hopeful he might have a chance at blocking D-Block Europe? His last release did get to #1 after all (although it was a Drake collab so cheating a bit). Ignoring 'Her Loss' his last project as lead artist did 6.8k first week debuting at #10, compared to DBE's last doing 7.5k to debut at #6, and I think 21 definitely has more potential to improve on that than DBE do, I'm not seeing how they're going to improve at all based on their singles success which is even more lacklustre than last time. If DBE do similar or lower numbers than last time then there's got to be at least a fair chance that won't be enough for #1 anyway even if they are the top new entry.
edit: also The Vaccines' last album did comfortably more in its first week than both of the above (11.3k debuting at #5) so I think they may actually be the favourites depending on physical formats, I've not looked into their release
Then again, this DBE release is apparently an 'album' rather than a 'mixtape' and for all the lack of real distinction there is between those things, their 2 previous 'albums' were indeed their 2 highest peaking projects so who knows, maybe they will magically sell more this time.
Ah, I didn’t realise The Vaccines sold over 10k - that’s good to see! Hopefully this one will pull in similar numbers, especially as I feel as though this one has had better promo/fan reception.
rooting for Vaccines, anything but DBE!

The press of Shed Seven getting to #1 seems to have done alright for them. They're still at #1 on iTunes and now up to #8 on Apple Music.
Hope The Vaccines do better on the chart than they are here!
Yeh they are new release number two on Apple behind D block!

An early look…
Big (comparatively) pop-punk albums don’t come around often, so I’m surprised Neck Deep are releasing theirs on the same day as Green Day.

8. Neck Deep

13. Sleater-Kinney
26. Lil Dicky
And yes, that is *the* Jeremy Renner!
Lil Dicky is making music again?
Looking forward to listening to the new Green Day album, what’d their last release sell?
Let’s hope they can open well with it!
1. Green Day - Saviors

2. RAYE - My 21st Century Blues
14. Nathan Evans - Wellerman - The Album
28. RAYE - My 21st Century Symphony. (with The Heritage Orchestra) [Live at the Royal Albert Hall]
The Reytons vs. James Arthur I’d guess. Could be close, but my money’s on The Reytons.
First look:
1. James Arthur
2. The Smile
3. Tom Odell
5. The Reytons
6. Alkaline Trio
7. Future Islands
8. New Model Army
9. Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes
11. Charles Esten
12. Gruff Rhys
13. NewDad
16. Erasure (Live)
18. Sigma
21. Static-X
Would The Smile or Tom Odell not have any chance? The Reytons will prob do it based on fanbase buys but would be nice if Frank Carter could imo. Or even Noah Kahan!
Previous first week sales for the main releases of the week:
3.0k + 11.3k The Smile (#5 in 2022; first week was #19 on digital only, 2nd week total only included ~500 non-physical sales)
13.0k James Arthur (#3 in 2021)
12.3k The Reytons (#1 in 2023)
6.9k Tom Odell (#7 in 2022)
The Smile's release looks like it has its formats coordinated this time around so hoping it'll be possible for them to get #1, just going off those first week tallies though it looks like a pretty unpredictable race (Tom Odell of course having had a fairly big hit single this era which he didn't last time so who knows how much that will shore up his album sales back to past glories). I'm sure The Reytons will be the ones who'll care the most to try and push themselves to #1 if it's close so I'd probably say they're the favourites to join The Lathums on the list of bands who are far too inconsequential to have multiple #1 albums.
Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes' last 2 albums were 9.1k (#4 in 2019) and 6.5k (#8 in 2021). No idea on if they'll continue to decline or rebound.
Ah, didn’t realise The Smile’s physicals weren’t released in their first week.
Would be great to see them at #1, although I can’t see The Reytons going down without a fight - particularly as they clearly moved their album back a week to avoid Green Day.
In fairness to both The Reytons and The Lathums, they’re both pretty high up the festivals bills I’ve seen for next summer! The Lathums, for example, have an equal billing to IDLES and Arlo Parks at Victorious Fest, and a higher billing than the likes of Louis Tomlinson, Jess Glynne, Soft Play, Holly Humberstone & Yard Act.
Obviously it’s their home audience, but The Reytons being able to sell out Sheffield Arena last year was quite impressive too.
rooting for The Smile, those Radiohead fans do buy their physicals
hope Tom Odell is at least top 3 and beats JA
Yeh not sure I would include the Lathums on the same level as The Reytons as they have developed quite well over the past few albums (a shout out from Brandon Flowers will have done no harm)!
I did think Tom Odell would be number one as the album has a hit behind it!
sure but nowadays more than a hit what you need is a crazy fanbase to buy 7 different vinyl versions each
and Tom Odell doesn't have that sadly but The Smile have as it's basically a Radiohead record
I can see The Smile having a sizeable fanbase who will buy the vinyl, but I think the multiple vinyl buying thing is exaggerated.
I’ve just seen that The Reytons have a pop-up store for the week, I’m almost certain they’ll get the #1.
I feel like James Arthur vs. The Reytons will be a repeat of James Arthur vs. Foals in 2019, James' fans on Twitter weren't happy at all.
1. James Arthur - Bitter Sweet Love
2. The Smile - Wall of Eyes
3. Tom Odell - Black Friday
4. Teddy Swims - I've Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1)

129. Courting - New Last Name
130. Joe Webb - Collblanc - EP
132. Anchor Lane - Call This Acoustic? (Live) - EP
I think I'd expect The Smile to be ahead of James Arthur? Idk though. A shame the first The Smile album didn't sell as well as a typical Radiohead album, not sure they've done the best job making people aware it's effectively the same band
The Smile are currently performing the best on Apple Music out of the new releases
Meant to ask why are there two versions of ‘Popular’ appearing on the album chart?
Newies on Apple:
3. The Smile - Wall of Eyes
5. James Arthur - Bitter Sweet Love
6. Lyrical Lemonade - All Is Yellow

98. Sigma - London Sound
119. Kevin Gates - The Ceremony
129. Groundworks - The G Tape: Volume 3
157. New Model Army - Unbroken
I read Tom Odell is already releasing the Deluxe version of Black Friday digitally mid-week
Is that not quite normal to promote the album further, albeit for week one maybe a little unusual!
Taylor Swift famously did it 3 hours after the release of her last album
oh never realised it was normal for artists to put out a deluxe on week 1
I remember some rappers did it a while ago and thought it was weird
TLDP should be safe for #1, it'll be interesting to see what their first-week sales are like!

yes very curious about their sales
So many great albums out today - The Last Dinner Party, L Devine & Dylan John Thomas.
Meanwhile I'm not sure if there are any albums out today that I want to listen to, definitely nothing that's charting at least. Unless you count the Burial release which is only 2 songs but is nearly as long as some albums

The Last Dinner Party album should debut at Number 1.
It's so good, completely lives up to the hype. The segue into Sinner is my highlight, couldn't stop smiling when the intro to Sinner kicked in.
I'd love to see them get up towards 30k, no idea if that's remotely possible
Wet Leg's debut did 29.0k first week, I definitely feel like the hype for The Last Dinner Party is on a pretty similar level to theirs so wouldn't be shocking if they pulled similar numbers.
Was the Wet Leg debut released at the height of their hype (at the start of the year between Sound of and The Brits?
30K is very doable for Last Dinner Party
I think it’ll be closer to 20k than 30k, we shall see though!
Boo at Now Yearbook 1990 being behind Now Unforgettable
It’s only 1 place behind
Doesn’t surprise me too much though, it’ll have a more general audience than one which focuses on a specific year.
1+5. Jamie Webster - 10 For The People

156. SNAYX - Better Days - EP
There are more releases I care about this week than last week at least, from that list I'll be checking out the Chelsea Wolfe and Declan McKenna albums + Little Simz' EP. Would be cool to see Chelsea charting, she's much higher than I'd have predicted on iTunes, won't hold my breath though.
Ushers album was selling for just £3.99 on iTunes and he has Super Bowl as promo should be looking at a good debut id say.
I do think Noah might manage to get a #1 with the new edition of his album plus he has tour impact with UK shows doesn’t he?
When did Usher last release a new album and what did it sell?
Hope Declan Mc Kenna gets the no1 even if his new material isn’t great, will give it a listen at least!
Jaysus pretty awful for such a huge star but guess he never sold albums as much and he’s not as relevant in the 10s!
1. Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign - Vultures 1
Oh it does actually exist then, and only a day late from its latest release date announcement x
(Although it seems to not be on Spotify for some reason lol)
I’m obsessed with Brittany Howard’s new album, it’s sooooo good <3
New releases on Apple Music:
1. Noah Kahan - Stick Season (Forever)

143. Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She
165. Mk.gee - Two Star & The Dream Police
Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign are now #1 on the Apple Music album charts, no surprises there.
It'll be interesting to see where it charts, as it's still not avaliable on Spotify.
Kanye West to stay far away from Number 1 please.
Super Bowl:

4. IDLES
6. Paloma Faith
7. Brudda Nay & KarimThaPeasant
13. Blackberry Smoke
19. Cha Eun-Woo
Hoping IDLES can get another #1 album.
I hope so too, I feel like it could be close though.
Think Paloma will snatch it. Strange how idles have been dumped so quickly by R1!
Yeh true but think they only had 2 albums on the station which isnt much considering they are a real punk band however as you say they seem to be oldish and grown through the live circuit.
rooting for Paloma Faith, hope she still has some fans, she did 15.9K last time
Idles latest did 14.3K so could be close
but Idles sold a lot of vinyls last time, nearly 10K, meaning they have the crazy fanbase needed these days to get high sales, which not sure Paloma has (sadly)
it was also a pre-Xmas release in late Q4 so hard to tell
I'm rooting for Paloma so hopefully she still has some of the "Karens" than still buy CDs I relly cannot see her with a crazy fanbase that buys tons of vinyls like Idles have
I can remember those sales for Paloma’s last album being really disappointing at the time, four years on and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them drop further with this album.

I also remember being hugely disappointed with Paloma only doing 17K
If I remember it well, the previous one, The Architect, opened with like 40K
so the drop was huge
I miss the days when every Paloma album sold 600k!
Crawlers not doing great on downloads anyway 😬
Yeh true although Declan is a similar age/appeal he has a fanbase. top 20/30 would be great, looking forward to giving the album a spin.

The Libertines vs. Vampire Weekend I suppose?
I actually wouldn’t count out The K’s for a Lottery Winners-style victory either, they have a pop-up shop and their album is just £4.99 on iTunes. I think they’ll be Top 5 at least.
1. The Libertines
2. Benson Boone
3. Feeder
4. NOW 117
5. The Black Keys
6. The K’s
8. Vampire Weekend
9. Khruangbin
11. Bob Vylan
12. NOW 17 re-release
13. Dead Pony
17. Hawkwind
19. Nate Smith
20. Cock Sparrer
21. ERRA
22. Five Finger Death Punch deluxe
25. Fabiana Palladino
never ever heard of the Ks
love Vampire W and hate Libertines, so Im sure the #1 will be the latter
Id say VW fans are more the kind that multi buy all available vinyl variants than buying on itunes
Now J. Cole has released a surprise album - so it could be close!
Some previous sales - although bare in mind that The Libertines last released an album 9 years ago now! It's hard to predict how they'll do this time.
The Libertines - Anthems For The Doomed Youth: 23,620 (2023)
J. Cole - The Off-Season: 21,050 (2021)
Vampire Weekend - Father of the Bride: 14,772 (2019)
Feeder - Torpedo: 6,055 (2022)
The Black Keys - Dropout Boogie: 5,692 (2022)
My prediction:
1. The Libertines
2. J. Cole
3. Vampire Weekend
4. Beyonce
5. The K's
Feeder & The Black Keys will be somewhere between #6 and #10.

EDIT: Wrong thread, apologies x
Think Billie will be no1 and Jack no3 behind Taylor this week!
Paul Weller achieved 26k first-week sales for his last album, while Twenty One Pilots achieved 15k. There is a lot more hype surrounding this TOP album in comparison to their last, but I suspect that Paul will get the #1.
Hopefully BMTH can go Top 10 now and then #1 whenever the physicals release - I think that’s what they managed with the first ‘Post Human’ album.
1. Paul Weller
2. Twenty One Pilots
5. Bring Me The Horizon
6. Lenny Kravitz
7. Tom Ball
9. Poor Clare Sisters, Arundel
14. Pak-Man
16. Beluga Lagoon
18. Collateral
21. Niko B
22. Meekz
hopefully Paul Weller
Think Billie will do ok as well on her 2nd week!
I was quite surprised to see that 21P have never had a #1 album, they seem like the type of act who would have!

Didn’t realise BMTH was download/streamingonly!
This BMTH album has been in the making for literal years, not sure how they were still unable to coordinate the format releases (unless they are just doing it on purpose for some reason). I reckon they'd have got #1 this week if the physicals were out but as it is I can see it being close between Paul Weller, Billie and Taylor.
long in the making but not sure when finished if Billie Eilifh was still featured on Limousine just 3 month ago
Yeah, I reckon it was completed not that long ago.
