Welcome to the fifth season of the Chart Forum Quiz!

This season will consist of 10 weeks of different quizzes, between October & December 2021, hosted by different members and volunteers are welcome!

If you would like to host a quiz, then please post here which week you would like to take and what quiz you would like to do. You can do one of the tried and tested formats or if you have your own format explain it to me so it can be considered. Your questions ideally should all be chart music related.

Quizzes usually last for a week and a results thread will be made once all the answers have been collected after the closing deadline.

Both myself and PeteFromLeeds will be your points of reference for this season. Please get in touch with either of us for any directions or any ideas you may have. Each of us plan to host one quiz each during this season, but this means of course we welcome more volunteers to host weekly quizzes!

For those of you unfamiliar with Quizzes here is an explanation of the main formats from Bré;


The leaderboard works by giving 30 points to the winner of each quiz, 29 points to the runner-up and so on. If there are more than 30 participants, anyone outside the top 30 will walk away with nothing. If the host is unable to participate in their own quiz (ie if it's NMTBJs/ACP) or wishes to sit out their own FF/Pointless quiz (hosts are allowed to participate in these, on the basis that they write their own answers before others start coming in) then 'host compensation points' are given by taking the average of their points attained from other quizzes.

Anybody interested in hosting a quiz in the opening week, which we hope can start this weekend? Ideally a non-pointless quiz as that’s what Pete hopes to host the following week.

Thanks Julian! I’d like to try hosting one of these quizzes someday but as I’ve already decided to go with Family Fortunes this season I’ll stick with that, so thanks for offering something different!

Looks like no change to the top 3 after Mango's Chart Predictions quiz.

I'd prefer not to host the last quiz of the series again, but could maybe help to 'crowd source' some Pointless questions if anyone else wants to do that in Week 10. (Of course, Week 9 needs to happen first.)

Oh bugger - really sorry, I got my dates completely muddled and really thought my round was this coming weekend. I’ll definitely still do it but may be a struggle to have it ready before Saturday - will do it earlier if I have time though

Well even if I can somehow rig my quiz results so Jim comes last there aren’t enough players to stop him getting the necessary points to overtake me.

If I did the last week I was thinking to try a Pointless Fortunes where you have to answer the same questions for both parts. I think crowd-sourcing the questions is a great idea though so if anyone had some good ones up their sleeve that would be great! Perhaps each one could even be set by someone different!

I'm assuming my host compensation points is worked out by doing 2 x (122/5) - taking my 122 points divided by the number of quizzes I've participated in, multiplied by the number of quizzes I haven't participated in? If so, then this brings my total to 170.8, just a whisker away from JulianT - although he himself will have host compensation points to be added after this week so there's no way I can catch him!

Anyway, I have ended up with 10 Pointless questions of my own, so it looks like I'm reluctantly volunteering to host the last remaining quiz spot. Only question is when... so if Dandy's quiz is this weekend, it'll be tricky to squeeze in mine with results before Christmas or even New Year, but it would be nice to wrap it up before long.

I think it’s probably for the best tbh - I only really volunteered because I felt bad that the schedule wasn’t full and, as is often the case with me, I haven’t actually had the time to put something together. Sorry to be a let down, I should have known better than to offer but sometimes good intentions get the better of me

Is it definitely a 9-quiz season then?

My Pointless quiz has some questions about things which have charted in 2021 (so far), so it needs to be aligned to a chart week really to make it fair to early entrants. I can either post it this weekend with a Christmas Eve deadline - but then I wouldn't be able to do the results until the 28th - or I can post it on Christmas Eve with a New Year's Eve deadline, then results sometime the following Bank Holiday weekend. Obviously it's over Christmas either way, so can anyone suggest which would be better? If neither is ideal, I'll wait until New Year's Eve to post it instead.

and I didn't even win a quiz this series - though I guess making the top 10 in each one helped!

Thank you to Pete and Wardy for running this series, and to all the other quiz hosts. It's been welcome to have these nuggets of fun/challenge to give us different ways of looking at music and the charts, but if there is another series I won't set out to defend my title as what's most important is to have something people can engage in, and that for me has been the real highlight, so thanks to everyone who took part for making it what it is

Wow, can't believe I finished top 10, thought I had no chance after missing a quiz in November! I think my run for each season has been 6th-8th-7th-8th-8th, the consistency *_*
