What is streaming? What are the chart rules regarding streaming?
For streaming and chart rules related FAQs read this thread.

How many streams equals one download sale?
100 plays if you are on Spotify Premium, or 600 if you are using the ad-supported free tier. However you cannot simply play a song that many times in one day to give it one sale, you are limited to 10 plays per day in terms of what counts to the chart. The number changes to 200 or 1200 plays when a song moves to ACR. For more information on the rules of ACR see this thread.

How much does streaming contribute to the chart?
Streaming contributes over 90% to the singles chart as a whole. Spotify counts for at least half of this, with Apple Music and Amazon also big contributors. YouTube is also big however most of YouTube's streams are at the free tier so won't count for as much.

Why is my fave not doing well?
Is it being promoted on a major curated playlist, and/or going viral on TikTok? If it isn't, it's unlikely to really take off! Hot Hits UK is the biggest of these playlists on Spotify from a UK standpoint. The playlist usually updates itself to include breaking hits once or twice a week, though there is no guarantee that your fave will get a place on the playlist. Also, the UK Top 50 is a largely followed playlist and that songs often experience a 'top 50 effect', when they enter the top 50 and get the additional exposure of being on the playlist. Often sales hits don't cross over to being streaming hits, this is usually the case for songs with an older target audience, reality or campaign songs. Also keep in mind that it often takes longer for a song to take off on Spotify than it would on iTunes.

My fave didn't debut high and is falling already, does this mean they're flopping?
Not necessarily. Most songs debut relatively low as they aren't instantly well-known, and experience a sharp decline on Day 2 as they no longer have the promoted 'New Music Friday' effect. A lot of songs manage to recover through gaining popularity and additions to playlists. Exceptions to the rule of course come from massively hyped releases, such as the recent album impacts from Drake and Taylor Swift.

To see the daily top 50 update on desktop, log in to Spotify, click 'Browse', then click 'Charts', then click 'United Kingdom Top 50', or click the link below. For the full top 200, use the link below to go to Spotify's website. You can also use the Kworb website which displays the data in an easier to read format and also contains additional information, however this is often out of date.

How often does the Spotify chart update?
It should update once every day, usually in the early afternoon - although on occasion there will be a delay.

What do the numbers mean?
The streaming figures cited in the daily chart are the number of streams each song received the previous day. Unlike the iTunes chart, Spotify is not a rolling chart so the numbers will only change once per day.

No surprises Taylor added as track #1 to HH, they also added Headie/Stormzy but low (track #50)
they moved Perrie up quite a bit

Taylor is of course #1 on NMF with Fortnight
with Florida and So Long London also on the list

Will it being a double album help or hinder streams? Maybe more songs in the Top 40 but at slightly lower numbers as people won't replay the songs as much as normal? With that in mind I'm not sure it'll do 1 million streams as I expected. I normally listen to Friday releases in the morning but will have to leave it until later due to the sheer length. I won't be the only one.

From one hand - I’m shocked to my bones and the happiest man alive (especially cuz all the second album is with Dessner)
On the other hand with my chart Stan obsessed, that means Fortnight will get much less streams to compete with, with all these songs.

Also They are doing the SAME MISTAKE again with not changing the main album on her pages to that version. Sam as 3am.
when you look for the album you get the normal version and it’s the on the artist pick.
again we’ll see a huge difference between the two parts. Wasted opportunity.

but if you're on HH or NMF and click on the parent album the song is from, it takes you to the 16 track version

not sure what happened with the people that pre-saved? everyone knows?

'Fortnight' will not be suffering from the same thing as 'slut'. The video is out tonight (about midnight UK time I think?) so the video streams should be enough to keep it as the number 1 track from the album all week.

Surprised at the double album but I thought she’d throw some new variant out midweek like she did with midnights to maximise the impact so this will certainly give this a huge boost. It’ll be interesting to see the streaming numbers tomorrow and how many get over the million mark as I suspect there will be a few and also how it holds up. I think she’s missed a trick though doing the double album now, she could have waited a couple of days and then given the whole album a boost but alas it’ll still be massive one way or another.

Is their any backlash from Taylor's fanbase for 31 tracks? I'm old enough to remember the lashings Tori Amos fans gave her during her bloated albums period (which were only 18-24 tracks) for not being able to edit down to a great 14 track album instead of a lumpy 21 track one. I cant imagine 31 tracks doesn't have a load of duds scattered through it.

US numbers will get the full 24 hours on Spotify whereas UK missed some hours. I’m thinking one or two of Taylor’s songs will get above 5 mill on there. UK still saying around a mill

Impressive streams for Sabrina. Shame it at a time there are multiple big songs out, with Taylor joining the group this week. Would be a comfortable number one on many other weeks with those numbers.

'Florida!!!' needs to smash, it's the clear highlight of Taylor's album for me! 'My Boy' is also good, but I'm a bit underwhelmed by the rest of it. But then again Midnights also took its sweet time to grow on me so I'm not writing it off just yet. Also I haven't listened to the second half yet, so I'm anticipating better for that based on the comments I've been reading

I think this Drake track would have been huge (for a week) if it dropped on streaming straight away but as it is this is essentially its second week (I guess there may be some people who weren't aware of the leak but it was very much viral in all the circles where you'd expect people to care about this) and diss tracks don't exactly tend to have much longevity. It's really annoying that Apple Music seems to be incapable of just combining song versions from day 1. I'd guess it's fairly likely the 16 standard edition Taylor tracks would take up the whole top 16 there if they were combined but we'll probably never know (unless they're still doing so well in a few days when they get combined).

Since the last Taylor update most of the higher versions have fallen but the second versions have climbed, quite a few tracks there where the two versions are now about equal to each other. Interesting that the order of the songs is a bit different for the second versions as well. Also looks like 'thanK you aIMee' may be trending to be the most popular of the deluxe tracks, I wonder if that may be because of the very unsubtle 'hidden message' in the title

Think it’s like 4k for every million streams. When you consider Taylor sold so many physicals and already has 314M after 1 day on Spotify alone probably over double if you include Amazon and apple this album surely record breaking in terms of money. Worldwide physical sales could well be 5+ mill and it’s surely going to get 25-40 billion streams. Could be a 100 mill profit album

Regarding the earlier subject of "how many hardcore-Swifties there are", I did a poll on the local fan forum how many times they have listened to the album and 27.9% of the respondents (201 as of now) picked 5+ times, so there's one explanation for the huge numbers. That's 150 tracks of Taylor Swift in a day.

If there are, let's say 500k people that listen to the whole Anthology album 5 times, it gives 77.5 million streams.

I obviously don't get what everyone's hearing, and on first listen I found most of the album a bit forgettable, with a few obvious highlights ('Florida' is quite easily the standout track). The gap between TTPD and the Anthology part is remarkable on Spotify - the lowest of the former got 4.2 million and the highest of the latter 3.8 million. I still don't get why she "wasted" the Anthology part like that. None of the tracks will be hits and even chart top 20 in any country I suppose.

Will be interesting to see which other two tracks of Taylor’s make the chart based on these streams.

Looking like So Long London, TTPD, Down Bad are all around the same streams on Spotify now; so the other streaming services will come into play. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart started off a lot lower (500K) but is pulling large numbers, will be close if it edges in also. If it doesn’t I’m sure it will chart in the top 5 next week, meaning she’d have 4 top 5 singles

Really hope 'So Long, London' can chart this week, comfortably the best of the songs tussling out for her 2nd and 3rd chart slots (it is my favourite song from the main album on first listen although liked a few of the songs from disc 2 more). 'Fortnight' is also one of the best on the album though and I think will be my favourite UK #1 of the year so far. 'Down Bad' on the other hand didn't really do much for me on first listen.

Thought the album overall was a bit better than I expected but definitely another step down from 'Midnights' which was itself a step down from the previous few albums. It's a bit lacking in first listen major standouts which she normally has a good few of for me, but I can see a good handful of songs growing on me. Also didn't think there were any outright bad songs this time tbf but a lot of songs that were just ok / a bit boring and blending in (and that applies to both halves, I think the second half is better overall but still has filler, maybe there could be a good album in there if you take the best songs from each half x)

I *think* you can have it on or off
and then if you have it on, when you play an album or a playlist it automatically plays something once it's finished

but in my experience in the past it was something kinda "natural" that made sense
like you play Cranberries and it plays you Hozier or Sinead O'Connor

but not it's label paid and it's always the same song, I did noticed it first with Djo,
autoplayed all the time no matter what and always with no sense at ll
