To be released sometime this summer according to Diplo on Twitter. You could check the tweet https://twitter.com/Zach___Correia/status/999037617701310465.
Good to see her keeping her name out there before hitting us with DL2 in Autumn ;o
I actually think she should stay clear from features from now on until DL2
Oh my god, how many projects does Diplo have on the go? :laughcry:
I have to say it helps build up hype for a new era if there's at least a few months gap with no new music, I'm sure she'll do great anyway.
Coming soon.
From https://www.instagram.com/p/BkkwY7wAowL/:
It's called "Electricity" according to Mark Ronson's The Times UK interview. The track was co-written by Florence Welch and Romy Madley Croft of The xx.
When will we hear it?! I know they (Silk City) are performing at Bestival in less than three weeks' time so I would hope it'll be sometime within the next two!
She teased this on her Insta with the caption "Her name is Electricity... and you'll meet her soon enough ⚡".
So excited!
She confirmed to https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/watch-dua-lipa-detail-mark-ronson-diplo-collaboration-new-album-plans-706539/ that the music video was shot last week, so if both of them (the song and the music video) are released simultaneously, I guess the track will be out in the following weeks (maybe at the end of the month or early September at the very least).
Regarding the track, she said the following:
It wouldn't surprise me if this is the song to knock Drake off #1
It wouldn't surprise me if this flopped either though!
Rumoured to be released in two weeks (September 7).
Yessss
Hoping it's in a similar vein to this beauty:
If it is, I'm excited to hear it!
A very tinny clip of this can be heard on Dua's https://www.instagram.com/p/BnCUPdEl1ou/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1ihfj5gye6rts. Bop incoming! 😍
Besides Mark Ronson, Diplo, Dua Lipa, Florence Welch and Romy Madley Croft, the track was also co-written by Diane Gordon (fka. Wynter Gordon), Philip Meckseper (aka. Jr Blender), Maxime and Clement Picard (aka. The Picard Brothers) and Jarami.
She's teasing the music video on her social media too, so looks like the track and the music video are going to be released simultaneously.
Artwork:
I have a feeling this could be another big one for her!
The track comes out this Thursday at 12am. ET / 5am. BST. Also, you could watch a teaser of the music video https://www.instagram.com/p/BnUKz-plp1_/.
Music Video:
Yikes...sounds like something straight out of 2014. Jess wants her song back
The video and song together are a truly euphoric moment.
Wasn’t sure on the song on a first listen listen but the video totally sold me.
A HIT. Jess Glynne wishes. It's so effortlessly uplifting and joyous
Not as instant as One Kiss but still GOOD. Coming for third #1 hopefully!
I feel like this could be a grower on me not as instant as One Kiss for example!
However, I don't get the Jess Glynne comparisons like at all...
From 3.20 to about 3.30, the track sounds very strangely mixed, like the sounds are clashing with each other. I can see this going right to #1 at some point, though.
I do like this after a couple of listens. It's not my favourite thing she's ever done but it's different. I wouldn't say it's particularly '2014' sounding but I'm enjoying the house influences on it. I wish it was Dua singing the chorus rather than the MNEK lite backing vocalist though.
It's nothing revolutionary but it's a proper good little bop. I don't really get the Jess Glynne comment either. This is far more euphoric and polished than anything of the pedestrian stuff she's put out.
And video is perfect for the song! It really sells it! Like Theo, I just wish it was Dua's vocals over the chorus.
Pretty sure it is her in the chorus, just distorted vocals?
Anyway, absolutely loving this. Agree it’s nothing revolutionary but it’s so carefree and euphoric.
Far more instant for me than One Kiss.
Time will tell if I’m still bopping to the song in 2 weeks time but I really absolutely cannot stop watching the video. Sure it’s simple and doesn’t say much, but it feels like a moment for her. It’s euphoric and makes me want to party in a 90s New York loft apartment with the straight men stuck in the lift.
It's impressive that she is listed as the lead artist on the new track as well as the one with Calvin
BOP.
I'd also like to be stuck in a lift with Mark and Diplo.
Very strong vocal from her on this one, I like it! Vid is great too.
I also don't get the Jess Glynne comparisons - it's still leagues below her output.
It's allready growing on me a lot
I totally get the Jess comparisons but there's leaps and bounds more personality in this, it's a great little track. I prefer it to One Kiss too (which I never totally got into).
I'm definitely instantly loving this more than I did with One Kiss (though I grew to really love that in the end). I think the video certainly helps! She's such a star!
I know I'm late, but this is incredible. Definitely challenging 'Be The One' and 'Hotter Than Hell' as my favourite Dua song, and infinitely better than 'One Kiss'. Hopefully it can still go to #1 despite the comparatively slow start.
Edit: I've just twigged the Jess Glynne comparison now that it's been mentioned in this thread. Probably why I love it so much.
This is so much more instant than One Kiss which took until about it's final week at number one for me to like
It's catchy enough not to get boring too quickly either.
I really liked this on the first listen, but it continues to grow and grow in my affections.
I love the "I know you've been treating yourself wrong" line.
I really don’t understand the love for this, it’s so mediocre and Dua is capable of much more than this.
Still love this, so glad it's another top 10 for Dua, hopefully it can go top 5 in a few weeks!
I love this too, it's such an effortless joy with a 90s vibe that I love. Dua can do no wrong for me recently, New Rules, One Kiss and this are easily three of my favourite chart hits in recent times.
One of my favourite songs around at the moment! I think I prefer this to One Kiss despite that being a more instant hit - I wish this was getting multiple weeks at the top too. I think it'll reach top 5 eventually and hang around as it should have a pretty broad appeal whilst still sounding very current.
Very late to this, another song where Dua Lipa just smashes it.

Dua broke into Jimmy Kimmel's house during the night to perform this
I can't believe she's wearing the outfit from the music video 😳
So Dua will actually be performing "Electricity" on Jimmy Kimmel tonight properly! Great promo for her 2 days in a row.
As previously mentioned, Dua performed "Electricity" on Jimmy Kimmel and you could watch it below.
An acoustic version of the track will be released tomorrow.
Am I alone in thinking within the first minute alone she seems SO much more confident and comfortable with performing than she was say, this time 12 months ago?
Yes, I would say also that she does appear more confident and comfortable with performing compared to 12 months ago.

Just won Grammy for Best Dance Recording
This may well be my favourite ever Dua track now.
It was a #1 in my own chart but I love it even more now.
It's so great. I was hoping to see more of Silk City, but this is almost a year old now and there hasn't been anything since.
I wasn’t a fan upon release, but I love it now and it’s probably her best song.
It has aged better than New Rules!
