It's no Levitating but I think it's great and the video sold it to me It's slick, catchy, fun, not trying too hard and makes sense for the Barbie soundtrack. Wouldn't sound out of place on Future Nostalgia. The smashing of the disco ball and the pink car in the video kinda confirms this is bookending that era?
I was a bit underwhelmed by the chorus on first listen, but it becomes more of an earworm with every listen. The strings, her sultry, husky vocals (I missed them so much 
) are so good and I like the bridge.
Fingers crossed for top 10 but I think top 20 debut would be more realistic

I keep getting it on that Spotify DJ thing along with Anne-Marie/Shania and a Tom Grennan song, so I guess there's a small element of autoplay but it's clearly growing organically nicely too, so should linger around for a while as it will sound great in the sun.
I do think Dua is one of the best pop stars of the last decade, pretty easily, at this point. At least she's one of the few major artists who I tend to enjoy nearly every release from these days. Intrigued to hear her next album and the direction she takes.

Apple have also woken up and moved it up to track 11 on their Today's Hits playlist. Also top 10 at US pop and Hot AC radio!

Dance the Night is not her best work but is good and I did believe it would be much bigger right now than it is.
This has grown but it's very much an inferior clone of 'Levitating', right down to the double hand claps and everything.
I hope it doesn't swallow away hype for when she unleashes the lead single for DL3 (presumably) later in the year.
I think they're using it as a bit of a stepping stone for the lead single but it's just a fun soundtrack bop really. Even the music video is basically an advert for Dua's new Versace designer collection
Dua got into Amazon's good books with this release at least which is great as it's a growing metric in the UK.
I really want this to go top 10 - she would tie Rita for most UK top 10s for British female artist. Sales are so close right now, they could easily do it with a bit of extra playlist or iTunes promo or physical release, send a mailer out to UK fans

The way this has only blown up on the film, I think she will be now in for a steady decline in terms of impact and success. I dance the Night is the most substantial sang of the year, full of meaning and hidden-depth, encapsulating how people feel, dancing heartbroken in the club, their worlds crumbling, as they dance away, poueing their essence into the act of dance. This works as both a literal representation of dancing in a club to mask your worries, and also on a metaphorical level: how you can "dance" through your problems in life, adopting a zen approach to everything, and throwing yourself into life, even as your world crumbles around you. Moreover, it is also a analogue of Sia'a Chandelier, with the facile, superficial veneer of pop brought to the fore, whilst the hidden depths of Chandelier - partying to mask problems, putting on a party, or any type of, face to the world, whilst you have hidden pressures beneath, a world unknown - play out underneath. Also, the lyrics match he existential crisis that, really, is the meat of the Barbie's character. This is, of course, how Barbie buries her troubles under a facade of flawlessness. It is also a treatsie on the most typical cultural zeitgeist response to economic crisis: music that relates to partying, creating a disconnect between reality as is and reality as is portrayed in music, aka an idealised world juxtaposed against the world of boom and bust, bubble-bursting capitalism.
