So, I know this may be a bit early, but Dua is surely a shoe in for nominations at least! If so, what could she be up for and will she win any of them and give us a performance?

I'm thinking shoe-in nominations in just about every available category tbh. 'New Rules' seems to be a definite for Video and Single. Also, due to her having a huge year, British Solo Female will be likely too. The only one I'm not TOO sure on is "Best British Album"

I think likely wins for British Female and possibly Single. Video just depends on if her fans are strong enough to over come the likes of Little Mix, Ed Sheeran and The Directioners (I'm hoping the directioners will all cancel each other out tbh...) then I don't think, if she's up for album, anyone will beat Ed or Stormzy in that category, imo.

British Female could always go to Paloma again though, so, who knows!

Posted by: THEO. 28th September 2017, 10:04 PM

Very early to predict but I would love a British Single OR Video win for "New Rules" although I know one of them is fan-voted which she won't win, so the other one would be fine. Would also love a British Female win, I don't think Paloma's album is going to be as big as her label thinks it will.

British Breakthrough nomination is also pretty much done but she won't win that either as it's fan-voted and a female soloist hasn't won that since Duffy laugh.gif sad.gif And I very much doubt they would nominate a female pop musician for British Album on their debut without massive sales.

Posted by: John-James 28th September 2017, 10:04 PM

For once I will have someone to route for. I'm never normally a fan of British artists so always hate every nomination except for the international awards laugh.gif Pull through Dua wub.gif

Posted by: cqmerqn 28th September 2017, 10:14 PM

I can’t see it not being Dua for British Female

Posted by: Liаm 28th September 2017, 10:33 PM

I can't see how anyone else will be British Female, single and video I'm not sure on, single perhaps but video is fan voted iirc. Album there is absolutely NO chance sadly even though it is the best British album of the year.

Posted by: Dobbo 29th September 2017, 09:17 PM

I hope she wins every award she's up for!

No doubt they'll find a way to hand the British Female award to someone else to appease the traditionalists who like "proper music" though, sigh.

Posted by: burbe 1st October 2017, 11:45 AM

Hopefully she'll get Best Female and Single, she deserves Video to but that will be the usual 1D award rolleyes.gif Album will easily go to Ed Sheeran surely?

Posted by: SeanGrey 1st October 2017, 01:41 PM

I'll be annoyed if there isn't a nomination for single, video and best female. In an ideal world she'd sweep for video as that's the one she's most deserving of but I can imagine there being stiff competition in the singles category.

Vid will 1 million % be Sign Of The Times and to be fair, I wouldn't really argue against that one this time!

And the only thing even more certain than that will be Divide winning the album award.

Which only realistically leaves best female (I don't think she's eligible for "Breakthru" as HTH went top 20?) altho there's been some inconsistency with that rule in the past hasn't there? And there's no-one else I'd rather see get it! (Well Ella Eyre I'd rather but she doesn't deserve it over DL).

The Brits have announced that Dua will be performing at The Brits 2018 in February!

I’m guessing it’ll be New Rules or Be The One into New Rules, either way it’s huge for her.

Posted by: Dobservance 18th December 2017, 10:27 PM

This is pleasing news.

Posted by: ❄The Snow. 18th December 2017, 10:30 PM

Well Two Lips has had a UK number 1 single this year and is also from the UK so this is unsurprising I think!

Posted by: burbe 18th December 2017, 10:37 PM

IDGAF into New Rules pls

Posted by: Theo. 13th January 2018, 06:59 PM

FIVE nominations at this year's ceremony - British Album, Female, Breakthrough, Single and Video - more than anyone else! So over the moon for her and of course she deserves to win every single award! wub.gif

You can vote once every day for her to win British Video by tweeting #BritVidDuaLipa!

EDIT: Apparently 5 noms for a female artist is a BRITs record! Queen *.*

Posted by: Botchia 13th January 2018, 07:41 PM

It's so amazing she's managed 5 nominations! Incredible!! I think she could realistically win Female, Breakthrough and Single so here's hoping. Three wins would be amazing!

Posted by: Dobbo 13th January 2018, 07:51 PM

That's a very impressive statistic & one I can scarcely believe given the likes of Adele & Emeli Sande...

However the only one I can see her winning is Breakthrough so not getting my hopes up too much.

Posted by: Liаm 13th January 2018, 10:26 PM

Wow at her having a record! Surely she'll get breakthrough and female? She could get single but I'm thinking that will go to Ed Sheeran (ofc) and album is 1000000000% Ed's rolleyes.gif Video will be a fanbase vote so will end up being a 1D soloist.

Posted by: Botchia 14th January 2018, 12:18 PM

I'm not convinced Shape of You will get Best Single - like last year Rockabye was the obvious front runner but it went to Little Mix. The same might happen with New Rules?

Posted by: Dobbo 14th January 2018, 12:24 PM

It's always something completely random & unpredictable like when Waiting All Night won a few years back, that's why I'm predicting it to be Feels.

QUOTE(Theo. @ Jan 13 2018, 06:59 PM) *
EDIT: Apparently 5 noms for a female artist is a BRITs record! Queen *.*

I checked this in relation to Adele and Emeli - the former had three nominations in 2012 (no award for British Video existed then) and four in 2016 but also won Global Success that year with no official list of nominees. The latter had four noms in 2013 including two for British Single but her British Breakthrough nomination was actually in 2012, the same year that she won Critics' Choice. Ellie Goulding actually had five nominations in 2014 but two of those were as a featured artist in the British Single/Video categories. Leona Lewis also had four nominations in 2008 as did Duffy in 2009.

I think Dua has a good shot at British Single! I don't think Calvin has ever won a BRIT Award and "Feels" was hardly his best single of 2017 so would be thoroughly undeserving of that award. I think Ed and Dua are the most likely winners but obviously I would love for it to go to Dua! The British Video teen vote will most likely be split between the three ex One Direction soloists so I would love an upset of any kind there - although that award has only ever been given to One Direction since it was reintroduced in 2014 mellow.gif

Posted by: Joe. 14th January 2018, 01:06 PM

Wow. Best album is a really big deal for her. Usually they only nominate pretentious and rocky or white male with a guitar so this is brilliant for her!

Posted by: Botchia 14th January 2018, 02:54 PM

The Video Award is a joke! It's obvious Dua deserves it by far from that list but it will of course be one of the 1D members as usual rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Joe. 14th January 2018, 05:44 PM

Dua is going to be so nervous performing at the Brits. I’m already scared for her!

Posted by: cqmerqnita 14th January 2018, 06:03 PM

I think so too. She always acts confident elsewhere though!

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🌴 14th January 2018, 06:27 PM

That's true. I hope her performance will be after some of the categories she's nominated are revealed. Also, it would be good if she will be only with her band performing, but I assume that there are going to be back up dancers as well. Regarding her performance, I agree that a "New Rules" / "IDGAF" medley will be the best in my opinion.

I think she has a shot in British Female and British Breakthrough Act. Despite British Video should be gone to her, I doubt it's going to happen, same as British Album of the Year and British Single. Although I love Calvin Harris, I don't think "Feels" will get it either, but I will be surprised if that happens! IIRC, he hasn't won a BRIT yet, so I'm not sure he will get one this year.

Posted by: Joe. 15th January 2018, 11:47 AM

I think IDGAF into New Rules would be great. IDGAF would be a really easy video to kind of replicate on stage and it'd look really cool. I personally think she should do all of IDGAF and then end on one pre-chorus/chorus of New Rules as a crowd pleaser.

Posted by: lotita. 15th January 2018, 11:51 AM

IDGAF into New Rules would be a really good idea but I expect she’ll do mainly New Rules!

Posted by: Dexton 15th January 2018, 12:22 PM

Is it confirmed she’s performing solo? A meledy of her & Stormzy singing Blinded By Your Grace & IDGAF/New Rules would be quite something x.x

Posted by: Scene 15th January 2018, 05:08 PM

I'd rather Dua performed alone so we get more of her singing her songs. IDGAF / New Rules medley would be the perfect scenario. As for her nominations, I can easily see her getting Breakthrough & Female (although Paloma could get it again) - the Video award should 100% go to New Rules I hope voters see sense.

Posted by: liamk97 15th January 2018, 08:47 PM

I echo the comments about 'IDGAF' into 'New Rules'! I think that is most likely, I mean I can't see 'New Rules' not being performed and 'IDGAF' is already shaping up to be huge.

Dua is almost out of the running for Brits Video. Keep voting guys sad.gif

I know she doesn't stand a chance against 1D/LM fandoms but New Rules really is the best of the videos and it looks like it could possibly fall out at #6 and not be included at the ceremony! sad.gif

"New Rules" is in the top six of British Video! Keep voting until next Monday to secure a top five position for the final round of voting biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ 14th February 2018, 12:25 PM

I love Little Mix, but for them to potentially be honoured for that video... lmao. 👀

I mean, obviously "British Artist Video of the Year" award is really an award for "Largest Fanbase Willing to Tweet Multiple Times", and they may as well call it for what it is rather than pretend it has anything to do with the quality of the music videos. It's just a little disappointing because Dua truly deserves what the award is supposed to be honouring.

Oh well, I've tweeted for Dua. cheer.gif

Best British Female and Breakthrough! I wasn't expecting anything more than those two so I'm just delighted she got her moment and I loved that she brought her siblings on stage with her! wub.gif and the "New Rules" performance was insane *.*

Posted by: Botchia 21st February 2018, 11:48 PM

Yeah I thought it would be just those two and possible Best Single at a push, but what an amazing night for Dua!

Posted by: Jonjo 22nd February 2018, 12:38 PM

It was so good seeing 'New Rules' performed with huge production. It was the first time I actually enjoyed the song live. One part irritated me, when she was lifting up her legs, it seemed really half arsed, lazy and Britney - Gimme More at the VMAs teas. But I'm not sure whether it's intentional or not. Perhaps I just need to watch it back.

But yeahhhh... I really enjoyed it overall. Huge night for her and it was lovely to see her reaction to her wins.

Posted by: Joe. 22nd February 2018, 01:30 PM

I thought her Brits performance was really good. She had higher energy than I expected and the production and vocals were fab. Yes, she comes across quite awkward on stage, but she kind of always has. She's awkward in the IDGAF and New Rules videos and was both times I saw her live. It's part of her charm though.

Lost In Your Light smassshh

Posted by: RobBob 22nd February 2018, 01:40 PM

Dua is the queen of lazy choreography laugh.gif It's exactly why I thought the BRITS performance was gonna be pretty disappointing because I've always thought she seems awkward on big stages/TV performances and is much more suited to tighter crowds like she's had for the past few years. That being said, she totally shocked me and pulled out exactly the performance I'd have hoped for, I found her to channel her awkwardness into a really cool manner that suited the tone of the song to a tee. My second favourite performance of the night after Stormzy.

I know exactly what bit you mean though, Jon!

Posted by: BotchLikeThis 13th January 2019, 12:02 PM

Thanks to both IDGAF and One Kiss being nominated in both single and video, she's the most nominated once again at The Brits!

Posted by: Theo. 13th January 2019, 06:20 PM

Surely she's got Best Single in the bag too seeing as New Rules deserved to win that and Best Video last year?

Posted by: SGrey 13th January 2019, 06:59 PM

Anyone else of the opinion One Kiss is more deserving of single and IDGAF for video?

Posted by: Theo. 23rd January 2019, 10:28 PM

Dua's confirmed to be performing One Kiss with Calvin at the Brits as part of a medley with Sam Smith and Rag'n'Bone Man!

I'm also under the impression that she's doing a medley at the BRITs. I hope she performs a medley of "Levitating" and "Physical" or "Love Again" and "Physical". I assume the latter is a given because it's nominated, but I could be wrong with this.

Pretty Please is honestly so underrated and one of my favourites on the whole album such a jam and that new remix version she done last night had me screaming !

Best performance of the night for me. Love a good London Underground feature.

FYI, it's not a new remix of "Pretty Please" and it's the Midland Refix of the song, which was used in the medley. This version was included on Club Future Nostalgia.

Oh I did not know it was the Midland Refix that she included (didn't watch the BRITs) - that was easily my favourite remix from CFN so I stan the exposure xx

Late, but Dua is up for 2 nominations at the upcoming 2022 Brit Awards:

Song of the Year ("Cold Heart)
Best pop/R&B

I can't see her winning either with Adele and Cheesy Ed in contention for both sad.gif

Fingers crossed Dua can nab this and the little lipas voted enough!

I don't agree that it was a quiet year for her with Cold Heart being a #1, Levitating being 6th best selling single in the UK, Future Nostalgia 6th best selling album of 2021, and a couple of moderate hits. But then again Ed has been so omnipresent, it will be a shock if he doesn't win ugh.

Dua won as the best Pop/R&B act.
