Welcome back to the spin off forum where we're getting ready to reveal the results for the latest edition of masquerade!

Apologies this thread has come later than expected, I've had a fair few commitments irl I've had to prioritise and ended up with a lot less time than I've planned for but we've made it!

I just want to outline a couple of things before we get going. There were three late voters (Altyr, Fljotavik and Republique d'Askorza) and they were due to have a 15% deduction on their entries but given the delay we've had to the results reveal I have decided to waive those deductions since I did receive all the votes well within the late voting window i'd set previously.

I had a plan in my head of how I wanted to present these results but I've not been able to do that unfortunately. I will reveal the nation behind each song with their votes but with I haven't got the country behind each one included in the scoreboards (sorry). I'll be posting a scoreboard after every 5 votes.

I'd only listened to three of the four songs off last years PPJ EP and only liked Txu Txu, Neném had passed me by but it's great, probably my now second favourite to Primavera

So the backstory for mine is that I was swamped with both cheap and fit for the actual contest choices, but I noticed that St. Burbia entries typically wound up in Canadian radio, so I picked an artist who I thought would get some radio play in the country. “Puppet” sounded very Marina and I thought that radio would latch onto it quickly but… alas. If you want something done you gotta do it yourself, right?

V happy with 4th place too (keeping up my streak of top ten spin-off finishes, maybe I'll get there in the main contest one day x), and for Peggy Gou, Rina, Kite and New Order being top ten too. Shame to see Mareux in 21st place but definitely a good discovery as I hadn't heard it before!

Well done Cody, in my mind there was never any doubt Puppet was winning. Faouzia has the magic touch.

This was such a great spin-off, thanks Lindsey for putting it together and hosting. Midtable is decent enough for PPJ, thanks to all the voters, and glad Mark liked it enough to give it 15!

A shame to see my 18, La Belle Epoque, so low. That was a fantastic find, maybe it helps that I'm learning Swedish so I got excited by what I could understand of it

I really don’t want to be difficult Lindsey, it might just be due to the fact that Danæviia had a double listing in the Google form page…

In your results I counted Jupiterdonia and Danæviia both assigning Danæviia 18 points and also Bøtanikkä awarding 15… is this included in the final score as it’s missing from the spreadsheet?

Well that winner was obvious, but wasn't a bad song (pretty much my exact thoughts on her main contest winner), congrats to Cody! Much more into the other two in that top 3 - thrilled to see SCALPING so high, that was an inspired pick for Wholune by Leww and Prospa & nanobii were real bangers too. Great top 10 actually, I voted for all except Faozia, Rina and Peggy (I have an averseness to cheapness xxx)

Very pleased with 21st seeing how badly I did at the start and I wasn't too far off my masquerade too which I didn't expect, thanks for all who voted! I definitely need to check out more from Mareux. Looking at the list, Aeroche, Jadakissnia and Sovarasma were my 'actual' top 3, so not too different from usual x

Ah, well, really good to see Séyetana doing well this time around - 4th is great for nanobii (a good followup to the win, proving that Séyetana is a gold mine in this spinoff x) and great choice Ansel, I thought it'd have a good chance at doing well here. SCALPING second is excellent and Faouzia winning is still good, she's a good singer.

Shame I ended up last not including the Retrobot, I did think I picked the best possible one I found for Sovarasma (I looked at other promis3 songs and thought they were less brilliant than this, and most of the other Sovarasma artists that had appealed to me in the past too) and positive comments had me a bit more confident. Sovarasma was certainly a choice much more aligned with my tastes than the other picks I've gotten for Masquerade but stilll... I guess it's not that instant but man, I'm not having much luck with appealing to people lately.

Thanks for running this so well Lindsey, it's been great to do another Masquerade and you ran it together well.

Ah so it was Quintessa who picked Ben Hazlewood I wondered if it was a country who was participating back in 2015 or not, turns out it was. Great choice Leo!!

I'm so sorry I'm reading this late and just now noticing errors, the spreadsheet shows Dobago giving 12 to Danaeviia and also 12 to Harmonica, but their text votes show 12 to Danaeviia and 0 to Harmonica. Also Botanikka's text votes gave 6 points to Harmonica but on the spreadsheet they gave 6 points to Summericia.

Well gee, that was a bad time to be trapped in work!

My first spin-off medal (let alone win) after struggling to get into the top 5 for 5 years and peaking outside the top 3 several times after! Guess I can’t say that I’m bad at this anymore (unless that was a fluke, but it’s too early to tell ) Thanks so much for supporting Faouzia again! Amazing top 10 overall, I think I pointed almost every song there? Good going since I was pretty nervous for some of my faves

I’ve been looking through who masqueraded as who and now that I think about it a lot of these make sense, I pretty much clicked Aquafina as Zanmatony as both the current and previous entry were reminiscent of 2015 Aquafina Flynnonda as Rd’A, Rolloland as Flj and Beaver as Persephonia also felt like gimmes. I think the biggest surprise for me would be Dobbo pulling that off for Trifoski, it’s one of the better Dobago entries as of late despite it being indie/alternative!

(Although now that I think about it, Dobago surprising us with a different genre shouldn’t be surprising considering they sent Latto at one point… hmmm)

Yea I'm literally at the airport about to board a flight to Paris in 20 mins so I wont be around for the week really. I've used the sum formula for all the votes so if there are any errors it's come from people inputting them wrong on the form, I did try to check everything but I was having to rush. Interesting that Flynnonda got Rd‘Á! A Nico track makes perfect sense there, also why nothing from his Santos side project was sent - as I thought I had when I saw Nico was that it would have been a perfect chance to send something of his that he’s sung in German. Overall happy with the track and it’s done alright!

Pleasing set of results, didn't vote for the winner but did for 8 of the top 10 and nothing I voted for ended up near the bottom.

Mosquetania was a tougher ask than most would have been, safe to say our tastes in BJSC haven't often aligned, MOS > UTO points have only happened once from 14 possible times and UTO > MOS once from 12. The only song I already knew and liked when looking at the list of potential artists was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdrnA2kF-f4 which I couldn't send as both Alex Metric and TCTS have represented Utopia! So I had to do some digging and whilst I didn't want to go with the most obvious choice of the only act I've voted for, I did really like Aftur Og Aftur.

Flynnonda finished one position higher in 4th with the same number of points in Lindsey's scoreboard because the total points for Séyetana was 179, moving them down to 7th.
Cor Lupus & Trifoski also benefit from the recalculation to Séyetana's points, each climbing one position.
Possibly due to the duplication of Danæviia in the Google form, they actually achieved a total of 152 points from 18 voters, including 2 18's and 1 15. They finish in a much more respectable position of 12th (instead of 27 as originally stated).
Utopia finished with 129 points moving them into 13th place.
Harmonica's total points is slightly less with a final score of 122, finishing in 17th.
Terra Avium's total points is slightly less with a final score of 110, finishing in 19th.
Summericia's total points is slightly less with a final score of 62, finishing in 32nd.

As far as I can tell, all other participating nations have the correct final scores as posted by Lindsey yesterday.

Of course, I implore one of the BJSC mods to verify this revision to ensure accuracy.

Completing my set of belated comments on contests that I missed the live results of (sorry!), midtable is an alright result here, was always going to be a bit of a niche pick but I picked up the 18 from Kath herself so that's a moral victory for my song choice skills! (Even if it was a song Kath had already heard x). I did decide to, as in the first Masquerade (although not the second one oops), go out of my way to pick an artist who DNQed the first time and hadn't been otherwise recycled and Anetha was an easy choice for that given 'Free Britney' was a big fave for me in the first place. Thanks to Roba for the other 18 + Jade and RFC for a couple more medal positions and Dandy*, Wardy, Ansel, Leww, Chez, Rollo, Cody, Meekul, Frank and Whoddy for the rest of my points! Congrats to Cody on the win, Faouzia another addition to the list of artists who've won 2 different contests in the BJSC forum then - another pretty obvious winner but it's a decent song so not too mad about it. The rest of that top 4 is excellent though, albeit with 2 more songs that I knew already (the SCALPING song was new to me though and is my 2nd favourite song that I have heard from them only behind their original BJSC entry - I've been enjoying a few of their other more recent releases as well - so a great choice there from Leww!) Quite a few more of my votes landing in the top 15 as well hooray, Mareux deserved way better though, I really adore their sound and definitely need to check out more from them if their original entry + this spinoff one are anything to go by. And also what on Earth happened with Helene/Sindre, that was one I knew already so I was maybe a little biased to it but it's such a standout, no way in hell it should be 2nd from last! (That's another parallel with the other contest I've belatedly commented on today with Iz's Club Bizarre song likewise being shafted despite being one of my faves, oops). Shame to see BYRTA so low too.

It was pretty obvious straight away that Meekul was the one who got me because who else would have sent The Retrobot it was iconic to finally hear their other song though and goals at it picking up an 18, I am outraged at it coming dead last xx
