Thank you to all 34 35 of you who confirmed an entry for the third edition of our Masquerade spin off! From this point on you are not your usual country- you are masked as one of the below nations. It's still important that you keep your identity a secret! I will reveal all in the results thread next week.

To encourage a bit of discussion and speculation on who is who I will be posting a separate thread with a poll so we can do just that so watch this space x

Before I reveal the songs I'm going to run through the voting rules.

To make my life a little easier we're going to be doing some Google form voting. Please use https://forms.gle/edkgmV4tnYDyvXiaA to cast your votes

18 point system as you'll see, 18 to your fave 1 point to your 15th fave as per.

You can vote for your own country but not the nation you're masquerading as. So I can give points to Taahino but not to the song I sent as another country.

You have until 28 April @ 23:59 GMT 2022 to get your votes in. I am going to be strict on that though as I want to get this wrapped up by the end of the week as I'll be on holiday from Monday and need my weekend to get sorted! I will accept late votes up to 5pm on 29 April but if you vote within that window you will receive a 15% deduction on your end score. If you don't vote at all that deduction will be 33% so please make sure you're on time!!

Umm ok… when did Zanmatony ever send Robin Schulz to BJSC? The song is decent though not complaining there.

I think someone confused him with Markus Schulz who WAS a former BJSC artist I entered only this year!

Ooh I already know the song chosen for me (was a top 20 hit in my personal chart last year!) but it's lush so no complaints here

I know quite a lot of entries here actually Prospa, Robin Schulz, Rina Sawayama, Faouzia, Peggy Gou, New Order etc. - a lot of taste on display

Haven't heard that Kite track before! Based on what I know from them already I imagine this'll be good, the singer has a really unique voice

Honestly I skimmed the song list and just trusted y'all!! Zanmatony I'm hoping we can get another entry for but I don't even remember the Altyr song so I'm sure it's still a discovery for most people :')

As Jade says you’re doing a great job Lindsey and everyone here appreciates it. People just need to pay better attention especially when they fail to send the correct artist.

For the record, that Robin Schulz song would have received some points from me so well done whoever thought of that.

!! at The Retrobot. I wonder who could have possibly sent that (I've actually never listened to that song so hyped for it tbh)

I spy a couple of songs showing up here that got vetoed from recent main contests (and, as Rob pointed out, one that was already probably about to be thrown out from the current one but definitely will be now ) Good to see 'I Go' getting to appear in the contest in some form I guess! I have already heard 'Vegvisir' too and liked that one almost as much as 'Vega' so a great pick there. edit: oh and 'Close Your Eyes' is also fantastic, somehow completely overlooked that when first looking through the list!

Sorry but I'm kind of giggling at the fact that your response post to someone else confusing Markus Schulz with a different person named Schulz... also has you confusing him with a third different person named Schulz (unless you secretly also entered the former President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz at some point )

Don't worry about these things Lindsey, it's not your fault a couple of people misread things - the Altyr thing might be partially my fault as I'm guessing whoever got that may have been under the impression that they were recycling a song from the list I posted and not just an artist oops. Hopefully we can get those reconfirmations ASAP.

Well… firstly thanks again to the person who reconfirmed an entry for my nation at the last minute (I think I have a pretty good idea who it might be now ). I am pleased that they raided my earlier artists and the one they selected, M4SONIC, was definitely the last one I would have expected after the original entry I sent (a bit of a rushed choice at the time if I recall) was also my worst performing entry to date finishing bottom of my semi final. I also consider it now as one of my worst entries to date, but that was then…

This new entry that has been found is a completely different sound to what I sent, it’s upbeat, very country sounding, and has a great female vocal… all of which I approve of. So I think they have done quite well to find this obscure song that I didn’t know existed, by an artist I haven’t followed since the time of my original entry! If I didn’t know any better I would have assumed it was a different artist with the same name, but I checked and it’s definitely the same artist!

Ok I’m rather happy with Nico Santos!! He’s a great artist who deserves better than the ok reception that BJSC has given him so far. Quite modern Ashton rather than something too far into the past but that’s fair, there’s a lot of history there so that’s a lot of name to run through (although thanks to some hefty self-recycling it could be worse )

Also very pleased at seeing Vukovi in for Taahino! They're a band I've casually liked for years but never really done much digging through their discography so Kill It is a new find for me! One of my favourite songs right now is one of their newer releases (Lasso) and SLO is one that continually pops up on my daily Spotify mixes I think weirdo DNQd when I sent it which has given me the fear over trying to send them again so I'm glad they're getting an opportunity for this. They have such a great signature sound like I can recognise a Vukovi song without knowing it before hand so I'd like to see them do well here pls x

That's a great, inspired choice for Kathaldazia. The song was on my radar around the time I sent Free Britney and I do like it a lot. Anetha has dozens of bangers, my most recent fave being "05h33 (Adiago, Piano Sonato No. 14, 'Moonlight')"

Oh I am very pleased with the choice made for Séyetana! I had that song as one of those that I could have entered as an alternate to entering 'Chipland', I think it's brilliant, good use of sampled speech and feeling and had completely forgotten about it as something that could potentially show up.

and it's got the youtube link to that beautiful pic of Miku on the Diversity channel, that in particular is very nostalgic for me

Voted. An impressively strong spin-off, my top two are discoveries as good as - if not better than - many of those I have recently made in the regular contest.

And I liked 19 songs here enough to vote for, so the opportunity to vote for 15 of them was much appreciated.

Lindsey, I just noticed while voting that Danæviia appears twice in the form. But everything looks great here, thanks for hosting this brilliant spin-off, I'll be intrigued to see who sent what, there are only a small handful I could confidently predict.

Very unique way of voting, my approach caught me out because I had my votes in a notepad and as I went down the list I deleted each song so as not to confuse myself which points I had left to give out. Then I saw the text version of votes part but I'd deleted everything so had to scour through the list again to see what points I've given what and put them back into a list could this be included in the OP in case others fall for the same trap?

Btw Danæviia are listed twice in the form.

Yea I'm really limited for time this week so the Google form is to make things easier for me collating. It's really not that inconvenient to use, especially if you've already got your votes in the list format anyway. I've put a blank field at the bottom for you to paste that into as well so I can double check everythings been allocated properly.

I've not had a chance to check to see who's voted and who hasn't but the deadline was firmly at midnight last night and that still stands. I'm hoping to do results later tonight but I can't say how late it will be as I'm going to my parents tonight and it takes me longer to get there after work. Hopefully should be home around 7pm so I will accept late votes up until then. Late votes will receive a 15% deduction on their final score. If I don't receive any votes from you the deduction applied will be 33%.

Please don't PM me your votes, use the Google form in the OP. I've PMd the couple of you that have already done this, if you transfer them over today there won't be any deduction since they were originally sent on time but Michael if you don't put them into the form your entry will be deducted 15% as well as you are actively choosing not to comply with the rules of the contest, so sort it out please!!

Should be good for results tonight, I've spent hours this morning prepping a word doc with all the collated votes and scoreboards so it's just pasting across that needs done tonight. Worst case scenario I'll need to ask someone kind enough to help out to post them but all the hard work is done
