K, so in between BJSC XVI and XVII we're having a break from the main contest! Call it a holiday if you will 
To keep us all occupied in this time however, we're having a Spin-Off contest in which there is a theme which all enterred songs must adhere to. Last time it was songs that reached #10 in the UK charts, this time you get to decide again! The results of this contest don't count towards your official BJSC stats so use it as an oppertunity to do something different.
You have three themes to choose from then:
Foreign Languages: All countries must enter a non-english song to the contest.
Remixes: All countries must enter a song which has been remixxed in some way from it's original form.
Eurovision: All countries must send a song previously enterred in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Choose carefully!
The contest will otherwise act just as a normal contest with a confirmation thread opening SOON.
VOTE CLOSES TUESDAY 8PM

Not amazing choices, but out of those 3 ESC.
Tbh I really don't see why we NEED a spinoff. We call it a 'break' but at the end of the day it's still BJSC, no? The last spinoff and people's disapproval just highlighted the fact nobody really cares.. I'll probably enter but I shalln't be too interested.

No ones forcing you to enter - It's not as serious as the usual contest so don't worry if you don't feel like enterring

Completely agree. I don't think it'll win the poll though...although there are a lot of ESC lovers on BJ, there are certainly lots of members who are not so keen too.

agreed, it will feel like more of a chore than a pleasure to enter something that nobody cares anywhere near as much about...I will enter of course but I'm completely indifferent about it thinking back to how little I cared about the last one...but this can change if I am introduced to some fantastic songs this time around
if there is still general disinterest after this one though, I think a line should be drawn under the spin-offs...

Not really bothered by any of them, only Eurovision would tempt me but all it does it limit the number of songs. It would be pretty obvious what be get picked straight away..I take it winners couldn't be entered though. Tbh I think a month's break would be nice from BJSC.

I think Remixes is the only option there with potential. I don't think I want to listen to 30 odd foreign songs and I doubt many people would be very excited about hearing 30 Eurovision songs. I mean, they'll all have their fans but I expect it's the one with least negative points against it.

Exactly! Okay, I just finished 4th with an 'electro edit' but that's one remix in the top 10 compared to, like, eight foreign language songs. It seems a bit of a pointless theme when they've done ALRIGHT in the past, enough times so that it wasn't a fluke.

Agreed. Who decided the themes? They're a bit narrow. Cover songs or songs which sample other songs from the same decade could've been fun.

To be honest, I didn't care much for the last spin off, if I did enter the spin off, I wouldn't be bothered if I came last in it, so I might as well not bother with it, it seem pointless me entering a spin off, if I'm going to come last, or 5th from last.

These theme's seem SO uninspired to me 
No thought would be needed for any of these themes, I can think of multiple entries for each from the top of my head. I'd like a CHALLENGE please .
B-Sides, Covers, Instrumentals, Sampling... would all be really good

I don't want an ESC spin-off really, it would introduce me to nothingTotally! I love ESC but what I love about BJSC is discovering new music. Although foreign language entries have done ok in the past the stigma against them puts people off entering them which isn't fair. Then again, an ESC spinoff would allow us to enter music not usually entered. Remixes would be boring, because people would just send the usual suspects (sorry Jonjo, but your Candlelight Mixes comment says it all).

There's like five million remixes out there in comparison to like 2 and half million foreign songs, I mean Remixes would be like a filler where Foreign Language would be so much more exciting - you'd have to go through plenty trouble to find the perfect entry where with Remixes it's the exact opposite..

Personally I prefer all four of your suggestions to the three options available.
Although my personal favourite idea would be a novelty/comedy/spoof song parody contest.

But his three suggestions have even less of a case for being a spin-off than this lot.
We get the occasional cover entry (Placebo, Sabrina Salerno) but I suppose they don't always do that well. A song that used a sample would have almost certainly won it (or finished top 3) had it not been disqualified last month. I guess B-Sides and Instrumentals are good ideas, but I reckon a good B-Side could do well in the normal contest, not sure about instrumentals.

I'm absolutely positive that this british crowd involved in BJSC know atleast 5 times more remixes than foreign language songs. Remixes would obviously suit the british countries then which would make it all so boring. Where only like me, Pavel, Jerick and Addy are from foreign non-english countries, I think? Come on. Which was my point anyway. Get your facts straight before always looking for an opportunity to bitch at me. Even in the results last night you make a scene about how I never voted for La Roux and again you never had your facts straight.. Just go away ffs if your never going to leave me alone. I'm sure plenty of B-Sides have been used in the contest anyway. Don't quote me though because i'm not sure, plus, not really interested of finding out if it's a B-side or not when hearing a song And this may well be a normal contest tbh. I thought you'd reject this idea, Aaron, because, y'know it can be a normal BJSC with them By the way, what if i want to use a non-UK b-side?

I'm not seeing the love for this theme at all, I absolutely despise comedy/spoof songs, I can't think of three that I enjoy let alone 50...the novelty wears off with them so quickly, they are only funny the first couple of times

Yes, I know more remixes, I'm sure a lot of people do. Then again there will be people who know more foreign language songs than they do remixes. Just because more people will know more remixes doesn't mean what you've said is true. There will be FAR FAR more songs sung in non-English than there are remixes. That is a fact, it is 'straight'. I pick on you? I notice I wasn't the only person to question that you didn't vote for La Roux, yet I notice you've only been 'bitchy' towards me. I don't leave you alone don't I? Well I don't pick fights, I just argue a wrong point when I see one, it just so happens that most of the time it's by you! Unsurprisingly for me (see below), I get the album cover of a 1992 XTC album; Nonsuch Palace was the Tudor royal palace of residence, built by Henry VIII in Surrey, England; which stood from 1538 to 1682–3.
