Promos dropping TODAY at 5pm UK time.

Some stars. I don't love this cast. It's a strange day where Roxxy Andrews is one of the 3 I'm most excited for (with Angeria & Shannel)

Posted by: Herbs 1st May 2024, 12:36 PM

Here for Nina West

Posted by: Calum 1st May 2024, 02:28 PM

Mostly here for Plastique tbh, keep the rest x

Posted by: blacksquare 18th May 2024, 09:05 PM

This doing well then x

I've only seen the first ep so far. In my opinion Vanjie was robbed.

Not a great timing for me as I'm on my holidays this week so not really in!

Posted by: Liаm 19th May 2024, 09:33 AM

Vanjie was absolutely robbed episode 1, she should have been top with Angeria instead of Jorgeous. I hope Jorgeous isn’t pushed, I feel Ru is just so obsessed she might be but we’ll see. Tbh it’s not that deep this season, it’s a bit of fun for charity and it’s good vibes so far, I don’t know whether it being non elim might get boring as even All Winners was but for now I did enjoy that premiere. Angeria absolutely ate that lipsync too, surprisingly so as that was far from her strength on S14 laugh.gif

Not yet seen episode 2 as I’ve been busy working myself into the ground and barely have the time or energy, snuck in episode 1 and will try to do episode 2 in the next few days.

Posted by: 152chris 19th May 2024, 02:49 PM

i hate this format lol. idk if i’m gonna manage the whole season

Posted by: Calum 19th May 2024, 03:52 PM

Just finished the first episode, and yeah I'm really not sure if I can abide a whole season with no eliminations given I'm not really that fussed on over 50% of the cast lmao!

But we shall see, about to watch episode 2 but so far it's really not feeling like All Stars (the whole All Stars premise is kind of becoming tired now anyway), but that could just be fatigue from feeling like Drag Race has been non-stop since last year.

Posted by: Simon. 19th May 2024, 07:18 PM

Makes me laugh that you can literally hear Vanjie in every scene of the show even if she’s not on the screen laugh.gif

Posted by: J00prstar 19th May 2024, 08:14 PM

I don't really feel like 8 is a large enough starting cast for natural dynamics. It worked in All Winners just about because they were all larger than life & mostly already knew each other.

it fat

Posted by: blacksquare 20th May 2024, 12:42 PM

The general reaction to this season is probably the most muted I have seen in years?

Zero stakes makes sense as a celebration of some of the best queens from the franchise — not with these queens. The format doesn't work for me. I understand they've probably been struggling to book talent and need to keep the queens happy but there must be something other than this. The first two episodes were unbelievably bland and I can't believe we are stuck with these girls for an entire season. I wish they would consider taking a year off between All Stars seasons, or at least alternate between a Global/Vs the World/All Stars etc.

Angeria though <3

Posted by: Simon. 20th May 2024, 02:04 PM

I enjoyed the first two episodes, only one I don't care for is Nina West. I don't get where her being the threat for a comedy challenge has come from, she just pulls the same faces each time.

Minor spoiler regarding other franchises: another All Stars spinoff with different queens is expected to air around July after this finishes

Posted by: J00prstar 20th May 2024, 02:15 PM

I think it doesn't help that AllStars chronology wise it's following AS8 which also had a muted response. People were raring for AS3 after the height of 2 and then had low expectations for 6 after how meh 5 was.

Posted by: Liаm 21st May 2024, 03:51 PM

I think GAS is the reason this might be lower key/muted tbh, but if that’s the case they should have skipped a year and just done that. It’s weird bc it’s like half a good cast of hard hitters and them some that feel like filler but Gottmik and Angeria in particular I feel should have been saved for a “bigger” or “better” All Stars.

If anything I feel like non elim made more sense for Global All Stars to showcase the queens from lesser known franchises, but I guess they wanted the stakes to be high and that to feel cutthroat. Maybe some or all of the big fan faves like Plastique, Gottmik, Jorgeous and Vanjie would only come back if it was non elim, so they did it now as a kind of appetiser for GAS but most of this cast deserves so much more.

Posted by: J00prstar 21st May 2024, 06:31 PM

The non elim thing to be honest annoys me given that they've all been paid 50k off the bat as an appearance fee which queens on AS8 didn't get!

Just doesn't seem super fair. But I think I might have some drag race fatigue too. I'm looking forward to France though.

Posted by: Calum 21st May 2024, 08:16 PM

I didn't realise they were being paid a fee too! Seems a bit of a slap in the face to all those that have done All Stars before them (particularly with this being one of the most limp casts to date) thinking.gif for charity or not, they could have added that element to any previous season.

I'm not sure if it was spoilers but Naysha revealed it at Roscoes the one that released just this week so it's out in the open now

Posted by: Liаm 24th May 2024, 08:59 AM

Angeria was robbed robbed, I also thought that would have been a good storyline lipsync since Gottmik blocked her last week and those two would both be lipsyncing to be the first to win the challenge twice. Plus Angie going from the S14 SG disaster to winning!

I found Nina’s to just be DeLa’s Paul Lynde but less curated and defined. It was exactly what you expect when you see Nina is doing Liberace, but still funny. Whoever decided on a sexy Anitta song for a challenge Nina West could very well win has some explaining to do, I guess maybe Anitta could only do this episode timing wise idk but they could have still swapped the Ball and Snatch Game round in that case? Idk why the queens went mad for Nina’s lipsync, it was messy and you can tell she just knew she couldn’t lipsync so had that ready thinking 18 reveals to basically nothing was enough.

WIN Angeria (she’d have beat Gottmik in that lipsync I feel)
TOP Gottmik
HIGH Nina and honestly I’d maybe go Jorgeous, kind of terrible but hysterical anyway or Shannel but she didn’t go far enough

For me, Plastique was easily the worst. Her runway was again amazing but I’m still sick of certain fans acting like she’s the best queen ever on the show because she has great runways.

Posted by: Calum 24th May 2024, 09:29 AM

Is this coming out on Thursday nights in the US? I’ve been waiting until Saturday to watch thinking it was still Fridays lmao Geri.png

Posted by: Liаm 24th May 2024, 09:50 AM

I think it comes out at something stupid like 2am so for us it’s early morning, 8am I think

Posted by: Calum 24th May 2024, 10:41 PM

Just watched the episode and my god that was painful to watch Nina lip-syncing. Those reveals were... not it and she was just jumping around like she had no idea where she was.

Plastique really stumbled oop sad.gif her runways are her saving grace at this point because I can't imagine Snatch Game is the only thing she's not going to shy away from. A roast? Another improv comedy challenge? Definitely not up her street.

Posted by: Liаm 25th May 2024, 08:34 AM

The Trevor Project is going to owe the Palette Fund money by the end of Nina’s reign of terror on that stage

Posted by: Calum 26th May 2024, 01:55 PM

The comments on Twitter about Nina having worn that dress every episode meaning she was just gonna do those 536 reveals no matter what the song ended up being laugh.gif

Posted by: Envoirment 26th May 2024, 06:53 PM

Really enjoying the season so far. Early favourites are Angeria (wub.gif), Plastique & Gotmik. Although really like all the queesns so far.

I was hoping we would see a glow up from Nina outift/fashion-wise, but so far that doesn't seem to be the case. In fact her dress she made and the lip sync reveal are perhaps the worst things she's worn on stage... laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Posted by: Herbs 29th May 2024, 11:16 AM

Not sure I agree with Gotmikk winning this week. In my opinion Nina won Snatch Game and the lip sync

I was initially seeing Nina/Roxxy as the main competition but glad to see Gotmikk and Angeria doing well smile.gif

Posted by: p a v 29th May 2024, 11:54 AM

I think Rupaul just didn’t like Nina’s ‘dresses’ (along with the fact that she already wore the lip sync dress on stage before so it wasn’t a surprise) and that was the deciding factor. Plus she wasn’t really trying to serve Anitta realness.

Posted by: RobBot 29th May 2024, 12:50 PM

I thought Snatch Game was dreadful and highlighted why this series isn’t going to work with no eliminations. Vanjie, Plastique and Jorgeous barely even tried? And we wound up with half of the characters not even being real and just imaginations of what they’d be. Which is what Snatch Game has sadly become.

Posted by: Herbs 29th May 2024, 01:11 PM

The first quartet was definitely flat

Had I not known who the top 2 in the challenge were I would have been very concerned at that point

I also think this format puts a target on the heads of certain queens (Nina, Roxxy, Angeria) as it’s not really a level playing field. I was surprised Jorgeous was blocked!

Posted by: Calum 29th May 2024, 01:23 PM

Do the queens have 100% say in who they choose to block? Because f*** me if any of them think Jorgeous is a genuine threat and that’s not just production trying to portray her as one… laugh.gif

Posted by: Lukuzz 29th May 2024, 02:44 PM

Definitely not the best cast for a non elimination season, already getting bored of some of them 3 episodes in.

Gottmik has definitely been the most consistent for me so far, Also think Plastique killed the first 2 weeks.

I expected more from Roxxxy and Vanjie but they just seem to be sailing by so far.

Shannel I love but she’s barely getting any airtime.

Angeria is great personality wise but lacking in some other areas

Nina and Jorgeous I just can’t get into at all, although Nina was great in the snatch game but her looks and the lip sync all been terrible

To be fair with the amount Ru obsesses over her I’d see her as a threat for that alone

Posted by: Liаm 29th May 2024, 04:46 PM

I guess because it’s just been comedy and design, they might think it could be another performance challenge which she could win tbf, I think when they get the scissors and have to decide who to block they probably overthink what challenge it might be based on what’s been done so far, but really if it was me, I’d block say Angeria or Roxxxy or Mik who could do well in a few types of challenge. I also think it would be strategic if they knew what challenge was coming up and could block based on that, that would make the blockings more of a thing rather than just something at the end for after the lipsync. It’s not that deep since it’s non elim but I feel like that would bring a bit more drama to that last little bit of the episode.

Posted by: J00prstar 29th May 2024, 06:14 PM

This is a sidenote but I absolutely love the name Ruby Snippers, it's probably the campest thing Drag Race (US) has come up with in years laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm 1st June 2024, 12:46 PM

Never thought I’d be saying this but Plastique was robbed BLIND. I think Roxxxy/Vanjie would have won a normal makeover with Valerie but Plastique and Jorgeous’ makeover had the whole package when you look at everything that the challenge warranted in this instance!

You can tell Roxxxy and Plastique respectively were the driving forces of their makeovers, so I feel like they could have been the top 2 as Roxxxy/Vanjie’s makeover was great too. I couldn’t deprive myself of Roxxxy killing it to one of my all time fave songs either, a blessing tbh x

Posted by: p a v 1st June 2024, 02:30 PM

Vanjie and Roxxxy getting two badges in one episode lol Gottmik is pissed at this point probably :’)

Posted by: Envoirment 1st June 2024, 05:19 PM

I thought Roxxy and Vanjie had the weakest songs/performance? laugh.gif The makeover was good though.

Honestly thought it was between Plastique/Jorgeous & Nina/GottMik as both their groups gave really good performances and the looks were also great. Also this is girl group and not family resemblance... I thought Plastique's team looked like a girl group.

Posted by: Liаm 1st June 2024, 07:56 PM

Gottmik could have won solo for making Nina look good tbh

Posted by: Calum 3rd June 2024, 03:08 AM

Plastique was absolutely robbed in that episode. But I guess Ru needs to make sure Vanjie and Roxxxy start racking those badges up x

Posted by: Liаm 7th June 2024, 10:23 AM

This is like a simulator season because what the f*** do you mean Plastique Tiara just comfortably and deservedly won a comedy challenge laugh.gif

Roxxxy cutting Mik and making it so dramatic was TELEVISION, tbh I’m taking this season as nothing serious and it’s just an unserious time which is fine.

laugh.gif I was thinking the same thing. So happy for Plastique though!

And the DRAMA when Roxxxy turned around and it was Angeria. laugh.gif

Thought the episode was decent, but it just doesn't really feel at a level like previous All Stars? Half the cast just feel like they're coasting/doing the same on what they did on their original seasons without much of a glow up. Although it's for charity so there's that too I guess!
