'Big Foot' is the most recent solo Nicki Minaj song to make the charts (#56), but that seems like a weird song to include. 'FTCU' made #40 just after Christmas so I think that is more likely.

Also, the Olly crediting on Now 117 is horrible, imagine if it showed up on the song graphic at Eurovision as that it’s like ‘I’m standing on my own two feet now, but by the way I’m still from that band you know me from’. I’d easily replace MOTD with Prada. Strange Prada isn’t on there seeing as it’s on the annual 2024 and why no Calvin Harris LIAPL? Thought he’s a Now favourite. At least with Tate, Exes will most likely be on Now 118. Looks like the spring Nows are now being released a week after Easter as Now 117 is being released on 5th April. If they’re doing it like that now, that means Now 120 will be released on 25th April when it gets released next year. I reckon spring Nows should have a set release date of last Friday in March or first Friday in April

Quite some confidence in Dizzy to put it as track 1 above Houdini *.* Nice Danny L Harle 1-2 anyway.

Sophie deserves more than the last spot, but I guess it's just the 'old song' place along with Unwritten - nice to finally see that make a numbered Now.

Prada missing is a bit baffling, is there no clean version of it? MOS are usually ok with explicit lyrics I think, and it's the explicit version on Bravo The Hits 2023 too.

There are still so few top ten hits though, 11 if you count Unwritten the first time around. Dizzy and Alibi will have future chances though.

I'm surprised Ed Sheeran's American Town didn't appear on the tracklist since a few songs that didn't appear on NOW 116 (Agora Hills, Used to Be Young, get him back!, Water etc.) appear on NOW 117 and similar to Calvin, he's a NOW favourite.

RE: Prada, not sure what's happened there. There is a clean version so it's not that. It's a Ministry of Sound single, which belongs to Sony who also release the Now compilations. Maybe, and quite rightfully, it's something to do with not wanting D-Block Europe to appear (or it's not that deep and it just didn't get included becuase it didn't).

I prefer spring Nows being released before Easter. One of the reasons is because a lot of people tend to go away for Easter weekend and releasing the spring Now before Easter like they used to gives people something to listen to for their journeys

According to Wikipedia, the next yearbook will be 1974. If that’s the case, then they’ll announce it tomorrow with a release date of 19th April and I think they’re doing it 70s, 80s, 90s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 1987 will be announced after that for a June or July release

1974 is the next yearbook and it’s due for release on 3rd May. Bit late isn’t it? I was expecting it to be 19th April and it seems they’re doing it 70s, 80s, 90s. I reckon 1987 is gonna be the next 80s yearbook as 1974 is gonna be the next 70s yearbook as 1977 would’ve been the next 70s yearbook if 1987 isn’t gonna be the next 80s yearbook. Managed to get mine on Saturday in HMV as two branches of Asda had the gaps on the tiny chart wall and labels out for Now 117 and Now 17 but neither had the CDs out by 5pm on Friday, which shows how much of a priority music is for them these days. When I used to work in the music section in Asda in 2008-10, we used to work late after close on Sunday to update all the charts!

Been listening now, and it feels like there's a few bigger/current hits than usual at the start, but also a few songs I don't understand the inclusion of, like Ilsey's No California? I guess it's leaning into the Radio 2 crowd, but I don't recall this being an iTunes success even like, for example, Georgia Ku was.

At least they didn’t go overboard on the r2 artists like they did with the previous one and look how much that sold in its first week even though it was released near to Christmas. I reckon Now 117’s first week sales will be more than Now 116’s. Went to my local Asda today and they had Now 117 but Now 17 was sold out

I’m still surprised that Now 117 sold more than what Now 116 did in its first week considering the latter was released near to Christmas and considering Now 117 was nearly full of songs which missed Now 116, it still managed to sell more. This is why they shouldn’t go overboard with the album artists and kick off with a random song. I also reckon that Now 117 would’ve sold more in its first week if it had been released before Easter

Germany's Bravo Hits 125, out next Friday, is looking very fresh in terms of current huge hits. Hozier, Artemas, Dasha, Ariana, Michael Marcagi etc. Gives a good indication that all of those should be on Now 118.

As long as people buy them, they'll keep churning them out as it's minimum effort and perhaps they have the songs licensed for a certain amount of time and they're trying to maximise the use of them. The country album gets a refreshed release every year or two with nearly the same songs on it.

I'm glad they didn't try to push the Eurovision album again this year though.

They could’ve included Rod Stewart seeing as he missed out. I don’t see why they always include him on 70s compilations but never on 80s compilations and I hope they don’t do an extra vault yearbook and if they wanted to include Level 42, they should’ve included The Chinese Way instead of Out Of Sight Out Of Mind and to be honest, they don’t need to scrape the barrel with 1983. Just focus on the main and extra yearbooks, not the vault yearbooks

Clearly just another way to rinse money out of the 80s, I suppose giving it the Yearbook name will mean more sales from collectors.

This is essentially Now Yearbook 1983 Extra Extra. Many of these songs charted between 30-75 or not at all. I bet there's a lot of profit for Now to be made from these non-hits, from an era they know 80s music lovers will lap up anyway.

I suspect it must surely be a licensing issue with Rod Stewart or they would include his 80s material. Did he switch labels in the 80s?

I was expecting Now Yearbook Extra 1974 to be released on 14th June, not 7th June as they usually follow 6 weeks later. According to Amazon, it has 64 tracks and Waterloo and Love Me For A Reason are still missing

I don't know enough about the deep cuts of 1974 to know how good this is, but I'll get it because the Extras of years I'm not au fait with are always good for discoveries.

Also it's worth it just for the Black Beauty theme at the end *.* And the UK Eurovision entry by Olivia Newton-John.

Also struck by the amount of acts starting with 'The'!

Shame about ABBA but clearly a restriction this year on it for the 50th anniversary. Not sure why The Osmonds is missing though.

Fortnight and Texas Hold 'Em both have no chance of appearing on Now 118. I can’t see Back To Black appearing as it didn’t chart high enough on re-entry, it also appeared on Now 67 and it didn’t appear on Now Millennium 2006-2007. Seeing as we got 2 Dua Lipa songs on Now 105 and Now 107, I hope we get both her songs on Now 118 and seeing as we don’t get an extra millennium, I hope we don’t get an extra vault either

Seeing as we got both versions of Valerie on Now Millennium 2006-2007, I wonder if the same thing will happen on Now Millennium 2008-2009 by getting both versions of What About Now. I hope we do and it’s a shame that neither the Daughtry and Westlife versions appeared on Now 73 and Now 74, respectively and also the next yearbook is gonna be 1993 with a pink background and it’s due for release on 28th June. I’d rather they did 1987 or 1989 first then 1993. Why skip the 80s? If you wanna skip a decade on the yearbooks, skip the 70s. I just hope that the next yearbook is 80s and skip the 70s

The track selection itself is largely good but I'm finding the sequencing rather odd in places. That A-ha song that scraped the top 20 above big No.1 singles from Take That and Ace of Base, Sonia's Eurovision song above Moving On Up on Disc 2 etc...

A few strange omissions, like 2 Unlimited's No Limit.

Funny how Linger is on there when it peaked in 1994. I hope for the next yearbook that they skip the 70s and go to the 80s. We haven’t had an 80s yearbook this year and I don’t know why they’re doing another 90s yearbook when we just had a 90s yearbook. I thought they’d have learned seeing as 1990 missed #1

It’s funny how they love Duran Duran so much but they didn’t include A View To A Kill on any of the 1985 yearbooks and as for R.E.M, they should’ve put Everbody Hurts instead of The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite as the former charted 10 places higher than the latter

Bit odd releasing it at the same time as a yearbook instead of 5th July when there’s no other Now albums being released. As they sometimes like changing the release date of some of their albums, they should release it on 5th July instead. It seems odd for them announcing a spin-off 3 weeks prior to release date as they normally announce them 4-6 weeks prior to release date. The album could’ve also done with at least one song which will be on Now 118

Now 12" 1983 is due for release on 19th July and like Now 12" 1982, they’re doing it as part 1 and part 2. They should just stop with the part 1 and part 2 and just release one of them. Taylor Swift and Beyoncé both have no chance of appearing and Billie and Sabrina’s latest singles will more likely appear on Now 119. And as for the tracklist reveal, it’ll more likely be revealed next week if it’s gonna be released on 26th July as they normally reveal it 4 weeks prior to release date on the numbered series but I’ll be surprised if they reveal it this week

Put it this way, if they want more disastrous sales, then go ahead and go overboard with the r2 artists. Look at other countries, they fill their albums with actual hits. They don’t include album artists. They should also listen to reviews. Now 116 deserved to flop. I’m glad it flopped and maybe they got the message with Now 117 and included less album artists. I will like to say it is by copyright issues, they might get lucky and let it be on the album, like I don’t think Taylor Swift will be on NOW 118 but I put it on my predictions just for out of the blue, they might let her on NOW 118 but I doubt it, plus R2 songs, not everybody likes R2, I only listen to it because of the quiz at 10:30am, maybe they done that to get new listeners a taste of the new albums that they artists released and then listen to them as well.

For the US NOWs, from NOW 1 to 31 was just hits from US, and then from NOW 32, they started to release the album with a NOW What’s Next! track, which is totally new and might get released on the next release. Since NOW 33 to NOW 86, they done 16 top hits and then 4-6 NOW What’s Next! tracks to make them popular and then NOW 87 to today, it is like a few NOW What’s Next! but have more songs for the top hits. I just think of it this way with the R2 songs

Now 18 has 4 songs removed from there. I imagine Phil Collins and INXS are two of them. Don’t know which other two have been removed. Steve Miller Band has been removed from the cover. Can’t see him being removed as he just anppeared on Now Yearbook 1990 and Now 118 could’ve done with having the discs filled up and done with Shaboozey and a few 1xtra artists. Shame there aren’t any 1xtra artists on there

Not many 'Radio 2 artists' though and quite a few more top 10 hits than usual (15 I think when you count Good Luck, Babe! on Friday).

Nice to see double Dua and Becky. I'd have probably used the Cascada remix of Never Be Lonely, Zoe's version is such a dull vocal in comparison.

Happy to see beabadoobee and Nemo, although I'd have liked Joost on there too.

Artemas feels very low down Disc 1.

Tommy Richman, Mark Ambor, Central Cee and Shaboozey feel like the most notable absences aside from the obvious (Taylor, Beyoncé).

I’m not sure it’s as simple as just filling the discs up to 80 mins each regardless. If you licence 6/7 more songs you have to pay for them, so you either take off some of the bonafide hits to afford them or cheapen the album even more by going to the depths of extreme filler (which people always complain about). I’d rather have fewer, bigger songs personally and this album features the most big top ten hits in quite some time. I suspect that’s where the money went.

In fact I’d honestly rather have 40 songs including 20 top ten hits, if budget allowed. I expect it’s quite a balancing act.

As predicted, Now Yearbook 1993 has beaten Now Summer Party 2024 to the top of the compilation chart and I’m glad it did but to be honest, they shouldn’t have released both albums at the same time. They should’ve released the latter today and it might’ve had a chance of going #1 next week and I’m surprised they didn’t announce Now Yearbook Extra 1993 yesterday. Let’s hope it gets announced this Thursday

That 2012 No.1s album was definitely stronger than the recent editions, due to fewer licensing restrictions and bigger songs/artists.

Disc 1 is wall to wall legendary songs in particular.

Not sure what the delay with 1993 Extra is. Not bothered for Now That's What I Call Sing-a-Long if they announce that, unless it has at least 25% of songs never before featured on a Now (as if).

I was expecting Queen & George Michael to be on there and I’m glad that Feels Like Heaven, U Got 2 Know and Pressure Us are on there. Last compilation I remember Pressure Us being on was Now 24. With James, I’m surprised they included Sometimes and not Laid considering the latter seems the bigger tune. I’m also surprised that Del Amitri are on there seeing as Nothing Ever Happens and Always The Last To Know missed the 1990 and 1992 yearbooks. Bit disappointed that there’s no reggae on there

I guess Babe is just because Take That already had the two bigger number ones on the main edition.

Jade definitely deserved a spot on the main album,but apart from that there’s nothing else on here that looks like a weird miss from the main album. I guess they just had a lot of licensing issues with ‘93 sadly.

Quite odd that they couldn’t get the biggest hits from REM and Suede when other material from them was licensed.

I expect they’ve done the best they can with the material they had available, looking at what’s here compared to the main album Quite a lot of classics missing and that’s felt most sharply with the lack of No Limit and Mr Vain.

On the plus side, it’s a more worthwhile purchase in terms of songs new to my collection, as there are many.

Still no Snow or House Of Pain. They should save the non top 40 songs for their vault editions. With Barry Manilow, they could be bothered to re-use Copacabana from the 1978 yearbook but they couldn’t be bothered to use Mandy for any of the 1974 yearbooks

If they keep releasing the yearbooks in certain patterns, that means the next yearbook should be due 30th August with its extra equivalent on 11th October then 1st November for the next yearbook with its extra equivalent released in January next year as they seem to release the extra edition in January instead of December

Going through the clips on iTunes of Now That's What I Call 40 Years - Part Two. Clearly some mixes are different to those used on the original albums, e.g. the abrupt Eurovision ending on Gina G's Ooh Aah... Just A Little Bit, and the 7" Radio Mix of Spice Girls' Say You'll Be There which has more R&B style production and a longer sax break. Also, the album version of The Promise by Girls Aloud. I don't know if these are intentional choices or mistakes.

I didn't mind the 100 Hits albums, they were value for money and I loved the Forgotten 80s and 90s editions. The 100 Hits Christmas one was funny as there was so much filler padding it out.

I did get the Car Songs one but it definitely wasn't a favourite. A real grab bag of songs that weren't sequenced very well, so felt like a playlist on shuffle.

I can’t imagine they look at what’s happening on 1xtra when compiling the album, it’s not even a station anyone ever talks about in BuzzJack’s radio playlist thread. Some of the big rap/hip-hop/R&B songs are possibly excluded due to the lack of a clean radio edit. Stuff with the odd swear word is probably easy enough to bleep out but if a song is littered with profanities then it’s not very easy to keep the song intact and listenable unless the artist themselves supplies a clean version with different words.

Not too impressed with this, there are a lot of huge songs missing for I presume licensing reasons (Starship, Bee Gees, Madonna, MJ, Fleetwood Mac and the rest).

Quite a few fillers, and that Eurythmics song 5th on Disc 1 and the Sting track 4th on Disc 3 are sequenced too early.

I can't fathom why you'd open a disc with This Corrosion?

And It's A Sin should probably be on over What Have I Done To Deserve This (and why is Dusty listed in the title and not as an artist?)

They have a song on there which peaked in 1986. Cry Wolf peaked in December 1986 so should’ve been on the 1986 yearbooks and my local Asda had both Now 118 and Now 18 stocked up today so obviously I’m gonna buy them

I listened to Now 118 on the plane yesterday all the way through (having added it to my iPod, which I still use )

I did think it felt more hit packed than recent editions, maybe because the charts have been so slow recently. But I do feel like the absence of Shaboozey, Central Cee, Coldplay and Majestic felt notable. The latter is a surprise miss, it doesn't feel like one that would be hard to get but who knows.

The first disc I enjoyed a lot but Disc 2 felt pretty weak. They should spread the hits out more to help the peaks and troughs, because it's a bit tedious that outside the first five songs, the only real hit of note on the entire rest of the disc is 360, so it was a bit of a slog. It doesn't have to be a hit to be a great song, but many of these are not.

I realised I'd never even heard the songs by Bon Jovi, Snow Patrol, d4vd, Nathan Evans and Liam Gallagher & John Squire, but that's probably on me to pay closer attention to the Radio 2 playlist (although I doubt d4vd was on that so I must have just missed that one!).

I’ve also noticed on the yearbooks that they include songs on there when they peaked in a different year. YMCA peaked at the end of 1978 and got placed on 1979, Step It Up peaked in 1992 and got placed on 1993, Should I Stay Or Should I Go peaked in 1991 and got placed on 1982, Cry Wolf peaked at the end of 1986 and got placed on 1987 to name a few examples

Well I have heard that NOW 91 is not happening and that artwork is fan made and isn’t correct. Jeff Moskow (who does the tracklist for NOW Music US) haven’t been told or even complied for an tracklist for NOW 91. So possibly it won’t happen anytime soon

I remember when they went through a phase of not including Ed Sheeran but now, he seems to pop up all the time and even though he pops up all the time, I’m surprised they didn’t include him on Now 116, the album where they went overboard with the r2 artists. Saying that about Ed, I think it was his #1s that became hard to license. People even buy compilations nowadays just for one song like I do. If there’s a song I’m looking for and I find it on a compilation, I’ll buy it

I hope they include I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) on vault 1988 or any of the 1985-1989 yearbooks as it missed the 1988 yearbooks and I hope that Dancing In The Dark gets included on vault 1984, 1985 or any of the 1985-1989 yearbooks seeing as it missed the 1984, 1985 and 1980-1984 yearbooks. I also hope it gets included on Now 119 as it has made a chart comeback recently and I also want Blue Monday to be included on part 2 of 12" 1983 as it missed part 1 and that they include Letter From America on extra 1987

Just seen that they’re bumping up the prices on their albums as 1987 yearbook is now £18. Like that’s gonna help sales. If anything, it’s gonna cause sales to decline. They should decrease the price if anything. Make the hardback editions £15, the numbered series £10 and the re-issues £7. 115 and 116 have re-entered the compilation chart due to price drops

I suspect they thought that their recent vinyl pushes would help to raise some licensing capital but I doubt that has worked as it's just a rinse and repeat of 80s classics every time.

Update about the US NOW Situation
Hey everyone, I kinda got an update on the ongoing situation regarding the NOW Series in the US.
Today I've received information from a source that has be in contact with Jeff Moskow who has said that he knows nothing about NOW 91 and also he wasn't told to compile a tracklist for NOW 91.
This pretty much confirms that NOW 91 is probably not happening and it's best to say that the series is in the process of being discontinued. This is such devastating news to the NOW community as the series was extremely popular and loved by people for the last 25 years. I'm saddened to see the series go as it was huge part of my life and I grew up with this series! I was going to wait to see if something was going to happen but as of right now it's not looking great. Another thing that I spotted out is that even some songs on some NOW albums on streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music & YouTube Music are being removed and unavailable to listen to. I find this to be very suspicious especially now when there are talks/rumors of the series ending. I'm considering of going forward with the rebrand maybe even sooner as I planned. I'll probably start the process in the coming weeks with a new name and profile picture. This marks the end of an era to one of the most popular music series in the country. The series has been around since 1998 and released a total of 90 main albums plus over 100+ spinoff albums featuring some of the biggest artists such as Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Backstreet Boys, Coldplay and others. It also introduced some upcoming artists who went and made it big with the NOW What's Next series which featured acts such as Tate McRae, Shawn Mendes, Billie Eilish and others. The series sold millions of copies and some have even reached number one of the Billboard 200. NOW 5 marks the most successful album being certified 4x platinum by RIAA in 2000. The series has achieved so much over the years and it's something we should celebrate and look back on. These albums will always be in my heart and it's always great to look back on these albums. I want to thank the NOW series for being a part of my life and it will continue to live on.

I just hope that the next 90s yearbook isn’t 1994. They should stop coming up with random spin-offs. Just focus on the yearbooks, vaults, millennium, 12" 80s and of course, the numbered series. For the numbered series, switch to the American format and charge £9 for them with 4 a year and NO r2 artists but if they stick to their 3 numbered series a year, then they should have set release dates of every first Friday of March, July and November

I’d love for Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark to make an appearance as it has been lingering around the top 40 for a few weeks now and never appeared on the numbered series before and with him now licensing his songs. I’d also love for Alphaville - Forever Young to finally enter the top 40 so it can hopefully gain an appearance as they do like adding old songs lately. I just hope that they announce Now Millennium 2008-2009 tomorrow as we’re due that next month

Scrap pointless spin-offs such as Now 80s Dancefloor vinyl series and focus just on the yearbooks, millennium series, 12" 80s series, vaults and numbered series. Numbered Nows will have set release dates of every first Friday in March, July and November. Only release random spin-offs which have never been used and use more songs which have never been used instead of the same old same old

Not as many surprises on the new Now Millennium edition as the others, but it's a decent tracklist with my favourite songs for 2008 and 2009 on there (Love Song and Release Me).

I like the run of dance on Disc 2, from Basshunter to September. Intriguing to open Disc 4 with two songs that didn't go top 10.

It's weird that Run and Bad Boys never made the numbered series.

Christmas music has also become far more dominant since then too with plenty of new December hits still happening then. The week before the Christmas chart has only six Christmas songs top 20 in 2019, the equivalent week in 2023 had 16 Christmas songs in the top 20. So you can see how Christmas dominance has increased since the pandemic and why Now has fewer hits to pick for spring.

These tracklists always seem like a real grab bag, at least compared to the Yearbooks. I suppose with only two discs to play around with they have to balance out the genres and include something for everyone, not just every No.1 and No.2 hit they can license.

But as has been pointed out - Scooter are here for the first time only now? Nickelback are on but were not on 2002-2003? So some huge songs are deliberately left out on this series over much smaller hits.

The More You Live, The More You Love was also on extra 1980-1984. They should replace it with Dancing In The Dark, It's A Hard Life or Street Dance and speaking of Dancing In The Dark, they might include it on vault 1985 or one of the 1985-1989 yearbooks

Also just noticed Mike Oldfield's To France on here - a wonderful single. And Twisted Sister's We're Not Gonna Take It I like too. This has several reasons for me to buy it.

I think that Teddy and Whitney song wasn't a hit here until 1986, despite its 1984 release in the US.

Still none of the missing No.1s, not even It's A Sin. Several songs I'd have put on the main release in place of some of the stuff that made it (Under The Boardwalk, Hold Me Now, A Boy From Nowhere, Sweet Little Mystery).

They should’ve put Sweet Little Mystery on the main edition and Wishing I Was Lucky on the extra edition and they could’ve at least included Rent if they couldn’t include It’s A Sin and they should’ve put Freddie Mercury on there and had George Michael open up disc 2

This is one of the few Now albums which didn’t deserve to go to #1. The more 80s albums of theirs that go #1, the more they’re gonna milk the 80s with the same old same old. It’s criminal that this album out peaked 2 albums from the numbered series

Just seen on a Now collects page on Facebook that Now 12" 1983 Part 2 is expected to be revealed today. Only songs I can spot so far are Wham Rap and Love On Your Side and their obsession with George Michael being track 1 needs to stop. Either put him somewhere else on the album or don’t include him at all

I’ve seen on the Now collectors page on Facebook hints that 1977 is gonna be the next yearbook. If it is, it seems strange releasing 2 consecutive yearbooks ending with the same digit
