Yes! If I’d started my chart by then it would have been a long running #1 (Tragedy may have scraped the top 10 as I wasn’t a fan when originally released)

"Heartbeat" is the one from my favourite Steps songs. I always associated this single with Christmas / New Year time, thanks to thematic winter videoclip.

Only 7 weeks in top 20 is very weak result for # 1 hit in my chart. On this moment of time I compiled 502 retrospective weekly charts and it's the second worst result behind Bonnie Tyler - "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" from 1983 year (Her run was : 2-2-1-5-8-15).

04. ( 02 ) Delta Goodrem - I Don't Care (5 weeks)

Deserved to be # 1 hit, but it was impossible for Steps and Sophie to beat "Calling" and "Something Stupid" in those two winter months.
I love both sides of double single equally, that's why didn't separate them in chart.

I love Faye, sadly she didn't release anything else after "Someone Like You".

Posted by: Herbs 10th December 2023, 08:14 PM

Yeah I suppose she was just a featured singer so no official plans to do solo stuff (& if I remember rightly Russell also did a version with Cleo Higgins which was used later on)

Posted by: Padamic Tension 10th December 2023, 09:10 PM

It's a huge shame she didn't follow it up, I wonder did she ever try and get a solo deal?

Just my take, so no knowledge at all.

I’d say or guess no. Only on the basis that Herve she wanted one she’s have got one.

I’m probably way off and wrong though.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 10th December 2023, 09:20 PM

Maybe at the time she wasn't self confident enough to go for a solo music career.

Usually I prefer cover versions over the original / most well-known version, especially when they were recorded by my favourite singers/groups.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 11th December 2023, 10:01 PM

Sometimes cover versions works great and sometimes they dont, this one doesnt really bother me as im not a huge fan of the song itself.

Posted by: Last Dreamer 12th December 2023, 08:01 AM

I wish to stop "Gražios Dainos" (the title of my retrospective chart) somewhere in June-July of 2012 year, because like the idea to finish it with all-time # 1 song on the top.

Steps lost their chance to get 10th number one hit (but with including non-Steps material Faye, H and Claire did it) only because of this. Only 8 acts did it (from 1970 to 2012) : ABBA, Britney, Blondie, Brotherhood Of Man, Madonna, Kim Wilde, Twiggy, YVA. I'm not a fan of their new music (after comeback), but "Story Of A Heart" is obviously "missed # 1". "Light Up The World" had a strong chances for top 5.

I'm curious about why Words Are Not Enough and I Know Him So Well had a combined chart run whereas previous Double A Sides were separated? cool2.gif

I'll be the first to mention this: Deeper Shade of Blue, Summer of Love and You’ll Be Sorry not charting at all? drama.gif sad.gif While all those H & Claire songs were Top 2… that’s interesting and quite possibly completely unique taste! 🤓

I love both sides of double single equally, that's why didn't separate them in chart. In the rest cases I prefer one side.

Yes, it's already an interesting tradition, when my favourite acts had flopped singles. The most unique situation is Geri Halliwell with DNC for "It's Raining Man" and # 1 with all other singles ("Half of Me" wasn't # 1 only because I stopped to compile chart laugh.gif ).

I posted these statistics here, because it can be interesting for Steps fans. Of course I know about the separated forum and also you can watch my all 2000s charts in retro forum.
But it's much easy to watch it in artists forums.

For sample I compiled all-time top 100 girl groups songs and Girls Aloud were very successful in my countdown, but how much forum GA fans watched that thread ?

Thanks for a comment.

"Another You Another Me" is # 1, after it the first three (will re-listen and rate them in 2024 year). Based on memories I think that "Buzz" is # 2.
Christmas album is not bad, but nothing special.

From comeback material I heard only singles and love only "Story Of A Heart".

You’re missing out on a lot of great songs by not checking out the newer albums. There’s a lot there to strike a chord with those who liked the first 3 albums.

Totally agree there is loads of great songs from the 3 newer albums that are equally as good as the early material.
