Deserved to be # 1 hit, but it was impossible for Steps and Sophie to beat "Calling" and "Something Stupid" in those two winter months.
I love both sides of double single equally, that's why didn't separate them in chart.
Faye Tozer and Russell Watson - Someone Like You (2002)
Peak position : # 1 (5 weeks)
Chartrun : 1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-4-3-5-4-5-6-7-7-9-10-11-13-15-16-18-20-25-27

It's my all-time # 1 favourite duet.
The slower steps songs seem to have done well on your charts. I'm so the opposite the slow songs don't rate all that well with me. Although I do really like someone like you, if only it was even a quarter as successful as adeles song of the same name.
H and Claire - DJ (2002)
Peak position : # 2
Chartrun : 2-4-5-7-8-10-12-14-16-15-17-19-20-23-26

Half a heart is one I don't revisit much at all but all out love I'm a big fan of and do revisit it.
H and Claire - Beauty And The Beast (2002)
Peak position : # 1 (4 weeks)
Chartrun : 2-2-2-1-1-1-1-2-3-3-4-5-6-8-11-13-16-18-21-25-28-30

Beauty and the Beast is not a strong cover version.
Its a shame someone like you wanst more successful though, it does seem fairly popular among Steps fans but least it went top 10 officially although it only made number 46 here in Ireland.
Yeah I suppose she was just a featured singer so no official plans to do solo stuff (& if I remember rightly Russell also did a version with Cleo Higgins which was used later on)
It's a huge shame she didn't follow it up, I wonder did she ever try and get a solo deal?
Maybe at the time she wasn't self confident enough to go for a solo music career.
Sometimes cover versions works great and sometimes they dont, this one doesnt really bother me as im not a huge fan of the song itself.
I wish to stop "Gražios Dainos" (the title of my retrospective chart) somewhere in June-July of 2012 year, because like the idea to finish it with all-time # 1 song on the top.
Steps lost their chance to get 10th number one hit (but with including non-Steps material Faye, H and Claire did it) only because of this. Only 8 acts did it (from 1970 to 2012) : ABBA, Britney, Blondie, Brotherhood Of Man, Madonna, Kim Wilde, Twiggy, YVA. I'm not a fan of their new music (after comeback), but "Story Of A Heart" is obviously "missed # 1". "Light Up The World" had a strong chances for top 5.
Top 10 singles :
1. It's The Way You Make Me Feel
2. Say You'll Be Mine
3. Someone Like You
4. Heartbeat
5. Beauty And The Beast
6. Words Are Not Enough
7. I Know Him So Well
8. Story Of A Heart
9. Last Thing On My Mind
10. One For Sorrow
Bubbling Under : Better Best Forgotten, Tragedy
I'm curious about why Words Are Not Enough and I Know Him So Well had a combined chart run whereas previous Double A Sides were separated?
I'll be the first to mention this: Deeper Shade of Blue, Summer of Love and You’ll Be Sorry not charting at all? While all those H & Claire songs were Top 2… that’s interesting and quite possibly completely unique taste! 🤓
I love 3, really like 2 and the others not so much.
Very interesting list and thanks for posting! Lovely top 2 What would be your top 5 albums btw?
You’re missing out on a lot of great songs by not checking out the newer albums. There’s a lot there to strike a chord with those who liked the first 3 albums.
Buzz @#2
Go check their new material, worth it
