Thanks Jay heart.gif

Happy to hear the songs in full! Typical Steps and I quite enjoy both claire.png

^ You're welcome! I wonder why they've leaked now... the Steps vault has been sealed for years and now we get these out of nowhere.

I'll try and write them out soon. wub.gif I haven't listened to them yet, need to get around to it!

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 31st December 2023, 07:50 PM

Enjoying both of these, Long Way Home in particular.

I’d love that to get a proper release, even as an album track.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 31st December 2023, 08:28 PM

Great to get these, I prefer long way home out of the 2.

Posted by: -Jay- 31st December 2023, 08:41 PM

I've read on Popjustice that there's also been quite a few Claire song leaks:

If I Can't Have You
Knock On Wood
2 versions of Sweet Freedom
Snippet of So Emotional Demo
Snippet of Let Love Come To Me

Wow! I wonder what's triggered this all of a sudden.

Listening back to these both now properly they'd have fitted well onto Gold back in 2001 and even a new album in 2002.

Posted by: -Jay- 1st January 2024, 08:09 AM

It was considered as a follow up single to 5,6,7,8 and continue the “line dance artist” thing, before they went in a different direction!

Posted by: gooddelta 1st January 2024, 09:51 AM

Crikey at Stompin', if they'd gone with that after 5,6,7,8 it would have been the end of a short-lived novelty career in the vein of Vanilla I think. It sounds like one of Pete's 80s rejects. Thank god for the idea to turn them into 'ABBA on speed' instead and Last Thing On My Mind. What a Sliding Doors moment I've just had listening to that.

What era were the first two songs from? I like Long Way Home, it's like a cross between (I Just) Died In Your Arms and Alcazar's early material.

Posted by: -Jay- 1st January 2024, 10:33 AM

Long Way Home is supposedly from the Buzz era, while No Easy Way to Say Goodbye is a Gold reject!

I'm not sure if this is actually true, but I read on Popjustice that the Demon label* was apparently working on a Rare & Unreleased Steps album "about a decade ago", but scrapped it. As well as those two songs, it was also set to include these songs:

- Nothing at All
- No Matter What You Say
- If I Could Say the Words
- All or Nothing
- Endless Moment

Interesting if it's true and I wonder why the kibosh was put on it?

* The label that is releasing the first three Steps albums on vinyl

Posted by: Lee_his_cheeks 1st January 2024, 01:53 PM

Stompin’ ohmy.gif

I’m very happy they went the other way! It’s not terrible, but I don’t think their career would’ve lasted that long indeed!

My ratings atm:

No easy way to say goodbye 7/10 (very Britney album track)
Long way home 7.5/10 (Typical Steps)
Stompin’ 5.5/10 (not bad but very gimmicky)

And that Rare & Unreleased album would’ve been interesting!

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 1st January 2024, 06:55 PM

Agree with others, ditching Stompin’ was the right call. It’s not a terrible song, I just think it’d have done worse chart and sales wise than 5,6,7,8 did.

It is nice hearing (I presume Lee) on vocals again.

That’s interesting if true. Would’ve been really nice if it had’ve happened.

All or Nothing has surfaced! Another Buzz reject.

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 2nd January 2024, 06:57 PM

Ooh another one, they’re coming quite fast now. I wonder if there’s any more?

Will give this a proper listen soon.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 2nd January 2024, 10:53 PM

Sorry i posted the stomping video in the other thread before posting.
I wonder with all these becoming available now is an unreleased songs album coming and thats what they were referring to in their post?

Not a bad idea. I wouldn’t rule it out.

It might be an unpopular opinion but I’d be happy for that.

This is a list of their unreleased tracks that I found a while ago on their GenSteps Track database

All Or Nothing - A demo recorded before the release of Gold Greatest Hits, the track has not been commercially released.
Close To Me - Performed live by Lee on the Gold Greatest Hits tour but overdubbed with a studio recording for the End Of The Road DVD.
Come On Get Together - Performed live by Lee on the Steptacular tour but overdubbed with a studio recording for the live@wembley.2000 VHS.
Dance Ranch - Confirmed to exist in an August 2022 YouTube video, Dance Ranch was another demo considered for release as a follow-up to 5, 6, 7, 8.
Long Way Home - A demo recorded before the release of Gold Greatest Hits, the track has not been commercially released but was later recorded by Charlotte Perrelli.
Mirror, Mirror - Recorded by Steps but never released. The track was confirmed to exist when H posted an image of a CD-R featuring the track online.
No Easy Way To Say Goodbye - A demo recorded before the release of Gold Greatest Hits, the track has not been commercially released.
R Dancing - Performed live by Faye on the Steptacular tour but overdubbed with a studio recording for the live@wembley.2000.
Run To You - Recorded by Steps but never released. The track was confirmed to exist in a magazine interview.
Stompin' - Stompin' was considered as a follow-up single to 5, 6, 7, 8 but was shelved in favour of Last Thing On My Mind. The track was eventually recorded and released by the Fast Food Rockers.

That’s a decent amount leaking from this list.

I’d be keen to hear Mirror, Mirror & Run To You. I wonder if they’ll leak.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 3rd January 2024, 10:44 PM

The to the beat of my heart demo isnt hugely different from the released version but thanks for sharing.
Its interesting how all the leaks of unreleased tracks have kinda come all of a sudden so makes me think something is happening with them, would they possibly be re recording the songs and updating them to release them as by doing that they could overcome any licencing issues with some tracks been from their previous labels.

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 4th January 2024, 01:50 AM

If that’s the case I wonder when we could get an announcement. After the vinyls are released!?

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 4th January 2024, 05:57 AM

I'd need to give them a bit more of a listen to rate them out of 10, but at the moment this is my order. (Favourite to least)

Long Way Home
All Or Nothing
No Easy Way To Say Goodbye
Stompin'

Posted by: Lee_his_cheeks 4th January 2024, 10:52 AM

Oh, lovely to hear more of them smile.gif

Indeed, very interesting as in why they pop up all of the sudden? Hopefully Steps themselves can confirm something about this soon?

Posted by: Yobnedor 4th January 2024, 02:14 PM

Jay, make sure you have these downloaded so when I crank my laptop on I can grab them from you thanks x

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 4th January 2024, 06:59 PM

I had this dream last night that they released an album for of unreleased songs. I can’t recall the name of it but it had about 16 songs on it. When I woke up I had to check iTunes/Spotify to make sure it was a dream. laugh.gif

Posted by: Padamic Tension 4th January 2024, 08:32 PM

Maybe its a sign that it will be happening and that you got your exclusive in your dream!! They could call called Step Back into the vaults.

Haha possibly! Don’t worry I won’t take credit for it if it materialises. laugh.gif

Posted by: Padamic Tension 5th January 2024, 01:30 AM

Take the credit if it happens!

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 5th January 2024, 10:26 AM

Haha I may just have too. laugh.gif

The weird thing is it had an almost identical cover to Step One with just some colour changes.

There were also some 5 track EP’s which split the album up in to 3 EP’s (well one 6 track EP). They too had edited single covers as their covers. (Better Best Forgotten, Say You’ll Be Mine & Loves Got A Hold On My Heart). It was so strange, but felt so real. laugh.gif

Posted by: Nina West 5th January 2024, 03:26 PM

Here's another leak, NOT an unreleased track, its an unreleased remix of 'Learn To Love Again' from their third album 'Buzz'

It was commissioned by Steps manager Tim Byrne, but not considered an official remix.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 5th January 2024, 10:33 PM

That remix doesnt do anything for the song at all but in general im not a huge fan of remixes so i may not be the best judge.

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 6th January 2024, 02:28 AM

Not that keen on this remix sadly.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 6th January 2024, 03:30 AM

It's a bit on the annoying side after about a minute and a half.

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 10th January 2024, 09:02 PM

This has been quiet again now. I’m guessing everything that’s surfaced will be it.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 10th January 2024, 10:58 PM

Maybe they were the teasers!

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 11th January 2024, 01:04 AM

Hopefully, I do enjoy the songs.

This..

Posted by: Padamic Tension 13th January 2024, 07:18 PM

I find many remixes grating very quickly.
It's very rare I can say I'm a fan of a remix.

Posted by: Lee_his_cheeks 13th January 2024, 09:30 PM

Same here. Also the Steps remixes are not great in general (besides the TMFAR IT remix heart.gif ) !

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 13th January 2024, 09:35 PM

Agree with you both. Saying that I do like the One For Sorrow remix, the one used as a US single.

Not as much as the original obviously, but I still like it.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 14th January 2024, 02:30 AM

It is one of their best remixes to be fair but for me has little competition.

Posted by: Lee_his_cheeks 14th January 2024, 12:25 PM

I can’t even think of another great Steps remix besides those two claire.png

Posted by: pippa 10th March 2024, 04:01 PM

After a nice burst of them making unheard of songs available it appears to have come to a stop.

Posted by: labeh 10th March 2024, 05:10 PM

Sadly, I don't really like this remix.
