It's possible that she could miss the Top 50 but I don't think it'll be that much lower. Everything around her is selling pretty similar quantities and her lead is comparitively better.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th November 2018, 01:57 PM

Even with a big drop top 75 is secure

Posted by: pippa 28th November 2018, 02:33 PM

The album is positioned well to stay top 60 with sales of 2500 units.
7 months after its release, none us thought this would happen.

I think it’ll do just as well sales wise in December if not better tbh (Although it won’t chart as highly due to overall increased sales)

Yes she has totally nailed multi selling this ear - I think I have 17 copies now including imports! I’m over it now - I almost hope she doesn’t release a repackage or a CD/DVD set laugh.gif Great that you got a copy though for that price!

The Golden vinyl is now being promoted on Amazon under ‘Limited Time Deals’ - obviously not going to appeal to the masses but should shift a few copies.

I think the fact her album hasn’t freefallen after week 1 shows that it’s not just fan buying that got her a hit album and like others have said she’d be WELL over 100k still....For the record my Golden purchases ohmy.gif

Great stuff....the Michael McIntyre repeats is giving another last gasp weekly boost too.

Gosh it’s hard to achieve major sales these days though. Almost December and just shy of 3000 sales will be enough for top 50.

Yep literally horrific sales even with the addition of streaming into the album charts - we are heading for less than 1,000 copies getting Top 40 soon.

Posted by: pippa 29th November 2018, 07:19 PM

Some years ago, 3000 sales would not be enough to take a Top 100 position.
That aside, its a great result for todays update,Top 60 is looking safe for Golden for this week.

I received the Super Deluxe in the post yesterday, I love it wub.gif

This is what I have:

I bought the following three items from her official store in a bundle that also included Dancing 7" vinyl & 2 photographs. Altogether this cost me £55 (£45 for the items and £10 postage with tracking) -

CD - Deluxe
12" Vinyl - Picture Disc
Cassette - Black Spools

£5.00 | CD - Standard
£23.95 | CD/Vinyl - Super Deluxe
£22.99 | 12" Vinyl - Clear
£25.00 | Cassette - Collector's Edition (2 copies, 1 sealed and 1 unsealed) / £10 each for the cassettes and £2.50 each for postage

It is rather a lot of money overall, but what can I say, I love Kylie and I love Golden!

Kylie Christmas is only £3.87 on Amazon and is at #1400+ on their overall chart so can’t see it troubling the charts anytime soon.

Hoping it might appear in the buy any item and get X album for £2.99 campaign at HMV during December.

I had thought it might make the top 100 this year but if it doesnt it means golden is in a great position to overtake it in total sales which is good as so much better as an album.

Such an amazing result for Kylie.... especially when newer and more radio/streaming friendly artists like Rita Ora and Jess Glynne haven't exactly made a massive splash with their 2nd albums (yes, I'm aware Jess started at #1 but for her profile and hits, I thought the album would be a bigger seller and stay longer in the upper reaches of the chart than it has).

I recall being sick (from work) the day Dancing leaked, and I heard it on youtube. I didn't hate it, but I definitely didn't love it. And I thought, oh well.... fingers crossed for a top 10 album. Whoever imagined the album would not only debut at #1 with close to 50K first week sales...but that we would be tracking its position during the Dec timeframe?! So happy for and proud of her. This also bodes well in terms of the record label having confidence in her for a follow up album. And who knows, she may get more budget too! wink.gif And nicer promo slots.

My only 2 regrets with the campaign so far is wrong choice of song for X Factor (she could've just done Stop Me From Falling, again), and no promo slot on Dancing with the Stars.

Golden ranks #23 on Albumism's 50 Best Albums of 2018.

Full album review below:

QUOTE
Behind the many mirrorball anthems that Kylie Minogue has effortlessly produced for years, there has been something more to tune into. “Tightrope,” “Loving Days,” “Cosmic,” “Flower,” “If Only”—to name some—were typically tucked away as album fare or B-sides. Sometimes, the lyrics could be more personal, but the musical canvases for these compositions were always adventurous. And in a post-Impossibe Princess (1997) world, these types of entries attested to the fact that Minogue had mastered her own form of creative subversiveness.

This provides clarity and context for Golden, Minogue's fourteenth studio album in her thirtieth year of recording. For the first time in a long time, here is a Kylie Minogue album that wears its art—and heart—on its sleeve publicly and is the better for it. Though the gap of two decades is substantial, it's hard not to see a connection between Impossible Princess and Golden. The long players are linked by their unique sonic and lyrical shapes, both largely informed by the age of their creator at the time of each album's respective births. The darker emotional walkabout of Impossible Princess saw Minogue facing the uncertainty of her thirties with an unblinking confidence and curiosity, whereas Golden proves the well-worn convention true that with age comes wisdom, now that Minogue is readying to enter her fifties.

As that applies to the record making process, Minogue juggles imagination and pragmatism on this venture. She doesn't abandon hooks, and the set's first single “Dancing” attests to this. This song is as much an earworm as any of her past evergreens. But there's a beautiful blend of joy and melancholy at work on “Dancing” too, a vulnerability that operates at the center of some of her best works.

This intersection of music and words comes from Minogue herself, present and accounted for again as a songwriter within every entry on Golden. Her earnestness puts the new LP light years away from the focus-group feel of Kiss Me Once (2014), a project hampered by its engineered mood. Minogue's keenness for the specifics of song construction and the music needed to bring them to life was encouraged—and made possible—by a diverse collective of producers, co-writers and collaborators she enlisted to help her.

Much is being made of the “country colors” Minogue is painting with on Golden. Minogue has not “gone country,” what she has done is what any pop act should do—experiment. So Golden takes up with a bit of guitar pop, in country, acoustic and AOR accents, sometimes within the same pieces, such as “Stop Me From Falling” and “Shelby '68.” What's more exciting is that Minogue is willing to part with the supposed necessity to maintain a standard “BPM” for the album overall.

Tempos are not rangebound on Golden. Ballads (“Sincerely Yours”), midtempos (“Golden”) and tracks with a bit of dancefloor blush (“Raining Glitter”) all thrive in one space, together. Repeat listens will quickly reveal that underneath the guitar aesthetic, there are other musical elements to be found too—particularly in the cheeky UK soul pastiche of “Low Blow” and the wistful French pop posture “Music's Too Sad Without You,” a duet with Jack Savoretti.

As it is with any new Kylie Minogue record, the critical and commercial hubbub of the moment can slightly obscure what Golden's long reaching effects are to be on the artist herself and her canon. But time will likely be gracious to Golden, a stylish, sensitive totem that eschews stagnation and embraces continued artistic growth. In short, Golden is unequivocally something that Minogue can be proud of.

Notable Tracks: “Dancing” | “Music’s Too Sad Without You” | “Raining Glitter” | “Shelby ‘68”

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 4th December 2018, 03:19 AM

I agree with the noteable tracks and it's a great and very reflective write up.Not a bad mid week position either.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 5th December 2018, 08:57 PM

Seems like it’s on course for 2,500-ish, so this should be the week that it crosses over 130k.

Difficult to predict the sales for the rest of the year but I suppose it’s likely to end 2018 somewhere between 135k and 140k. Hopefully enough to hold on to the Top 40 best selling albums of the year (it’s currently 27th).

Posted by: liamk97 5th December 2018, 09:40 PM

Fingers crossed! ~140k was the cut off for the Top 40 from 2015 to be 2017 so hopefully Golden can make it.

I would be so disappointed if it falls out at the last minute.

This time last year Kasabian were at 27 there with 130.7k and in the year end chart they ended up at #40 precisely, getting to 140k so it’s gonna be close.

That said, this time last year #40 sold 111k and right now it’s on 103k.

So if I put a bet I’d say she would make it.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th December 2018, 12:48 AM

Hopefully it will hold on but it will be close and likewise with staying top 75 this week.

Posted by: pippa 6th December 2018, 04:09 PM

I have a feeling and an annoying feeling that Golden will end the week at number 76.
While this is fine, I am hungry to see the album get the 1 week more on the official Top 75.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th December 2018, 02:29 AM

Fingers crossed the album will be back on the Irish charts tomorrow.

Oh I will, our chart is available just after 3pm.

Posted by: ___∆___ 7th December 2018, 02:30 PM

Was just looking at chart weeks for Golden - it seems the UK is the only place it’s had any longevity (Belgium is next with 11 weeks). It only spent 6 weeks in the Australian charts despite getting to #1 although I’m sure Mushroom will release a tour edition of the album when she takes the shows over there as they usually do (and they are always such great packages too!).

Posted by: pippa 7th December 2018, 04:01 PM

I would be very interested in the Mushroom release if it happens.

Posted by: pippa 7th December 2018, 06:37 PM

Wonderful result, now overtakes Rhythm of Love for chart weeks and stays on the chart.

Posted by: pippa 7th December 2018, 06:46 PM

She looks to have sold around 2600 this week.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 7th December 2018, 07:09 PM

64 sold 2.86k
75 sold 2.5k

69 approx 2.6-2.7k

Posted by: pippa 7th December 2018, 07:57 PM

With the cassette coming Golden should manage at least 1 more week in the Top 75 region of the chart.

Posted by: ___∆___ 7th December 2018, 08:19 PM

I think Golden will be heavily featured in all the January sales - fully expecting the download to drop below £5 and offers from her official store, HMV etc., so could have a few more weeks in the charts.

Posted by: aeroco 7th December 2018, 08:33 PM

Pleased it’s holding on just a shame sales all round are so disappointing now.

Posted by: pippa 7th December 2018, 09:02 PM

Sales appear really down this year.
50K for a number 1 at this time of year are very disappointing.

That’s disappointing especially as so few copies are needed.

I estimate Golden being 29th in the YTD as of this week! (Down from 27th).

It's been overtaken by Jess Glynne - Always In Between, Take That - Odyssey, Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody OST and Michael Buble - Love, but Golden appears to have overtaken Oasis - Time Flies and Fleetwood Mac - The Very Best Of.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 8th December 2018, 01:59 PM

Hopefully she can hang onto top 40 year end position.

Kylie needs a rest now, she has been struggling with her voice she has been promoting since February not to mention the rehearsals needed prior, video shoots etc .... Let her have a well earned rest. I am so hoping the BRITS will be the next big gig for her.

Kylie Christmas won’t be troubling the charts - both versions well outside of the Top 1000 on Amazon.

Posted by: pippa 10th December 2018, 09:48 PM

With it so low on Amazon it clearly shows it wont do much at all this year.
From actual cd sales, it would be interesting to know how much Amazon accounts for.

HMV have 17.7% of the physical music market followed by Amazon on 16% - the rest is made up by Supermarkets and Independent stores. With HMV and Amazon being the 2 main places to pick up something like Kylie Christmas then they give a good indication of sales I guess.

The Christmas Number 1 barely gets a headline these days so i doubt an album climbing into the top 50 would get any attention.

Love to see BMG trying to squeeze those pre-Christmas sales. Totally the right time for them to slash prices now rather than waiting until January - The picture disc and photo set for £15 is a good price that should encourage some sales cheer.gif Also the majority of the sales for reduced items will count towards next weeks chart along with the cassette sales so she could have a great sales week.

Hopefully they send out a mail shot to highlight the reductions.

Golden passed Reputation during this week, as of today's midweeks Golden has sold 400+ more copies than Reputation in 2018. Golden is also less than 20 copies behind Beautiful Trauma as of today's mids, and will definitely have moved ahead in time for tomorrow's Year-to-Date chart. biggrin.gif

I doubt it will sell anywhere near 7k. Probably half that amount is more realistic. The cassette market is relatively small and the new cassette adds nothing new really, just novelty collectors item which hasn’t even sold out yet. There is no other promotion lined up which would have helped boost album sales too.

Posted by: liamk97 15th December 2018, 05:02 AM

Assuming its true the cassettes weren't limited then I could see 2k being sold quite easily, then add on the 2.5-3k the album would presumably sell in other formats. That would be about 5k sales. Looking forward to seeing it's boost this week regardless.

Posted by: ___∆___ 15th December 2018, 08:35 AM

Yes I think easily 2k of cassettes could have been shifted to UK fans, also the price reductions on the official store will really help - people that want to complete their collections might now be tempted (The picture disc is now £15, and the deluxe bundle which includes multiple formats and the Dancing Vinyl has been reduced from £95 to £40).

Golden ranks #11 on Rolling Stone's Top Pop Albums of 2018:

QUOTE
Kylie Minogue, ‘Golden’
Kylie goes country? Why not – she’s tried everything else. Always hot to invade new musical territory, the “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” legend takes over Nashville with the rhinestone-cowgirl disco twang of Golden. It’s a confident statement about sashaying into her 50s, facing up to mortality and heartbreak – in many ways, her most personal album since her underrated turning-30 cult favorite Impossible Princess. The One True Kylie gets elegiac in the ballad “Music’s Too Sad Without You,” but she sparkles brighter than ever in the banjo-disco of “Raining Glitter.”

Was just about to post that I’m really looking forward to the mids tomorrow! I think we will pleasantly surprised in the first update - if it shifted 2,500 last week then I’m sure cassettes and the official store discounts could easily take that figure to at least 5k this week.

Hoping for at least Top 50 cheer.gif

Posted by: SmileyKylie 16th December 2018, 09:56 PM

Not sure!

Who knows what the cassette sold? Where pre sales very disappointing so they put out the £5 cassette too to get more sales or did they sell well? It took big numbers to 6.7k for top 40 last week and 4.1k for top 50.

She has no promo sadly like a lot of artists had..... I think top 50 tomorrow would be excellent and then top 75 for the full week

Surprised they didn't do iTunes 4.99 to be honest this week also.

Wonder what januay will bring? Will they put Golden at 3.99?

I expect Golden should comfortably re-enter the T75 this week and sell 3-4K. Might reach 140K by the end of the year.

Posted by: pippa 17th December 2018, 05:40 PM

It could potentially show a Top 40 position today with the cassette sales.
That said, it will fall through the week, but, should secure Top 75.

sales are still low. 25k for no1 album so unlikely to have sold much more than 2k so far this week!

Posted by: SmileyKylie 17th December 2018, 07:55 PM

Yep agreed.

i did think she may have released the £5 cassette as take up of the £10 one wasnt as much as they had wanted....

Posted by: pippa 17th December 2018, 08:15 PM

Wonderful to see it back in the Top 40, even if just for a short stay.
Top 75 is on lock now.

Sales may possibly be more spread over the chart.
Positions in the lower end may be on slightly higher sales than normal due to been lack of huge stand out sellers.

Do we have the official figures yet?

Knew it would be over 3000 based on last weeks sales figures for low top 40...sadly it will be front loaded so we all expect it to drop...4000-5000 sales this week likely.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 17th December 2018, 10:29 PM

How do you know that? I haven’t seen any sales figures floating around for Golden this week. Great news if it has sold that amount but I’m surprised!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 18th December 2018, 12:32 AM

Good start for the week,if she does 5000 it would be brill.

Posted by: pippa 18th December 2018, 03:04 PM

If Kylie can reach 5k this week and 2k next week, Golden should be on track to overtake Kylie Christmas on overall sales.
Am i correct?

Posted by: aeroco 18th December 2018, 03:16 PM

Probably won’t be enough as KC will sell this week and next...all depends on how successful the cassettes and discounts are in driving sales. Golden will at worst pass KC early next year regardless.

Posted by: liamk97 18th December 2018, 03:47 PM

Yep, Golden should at least pass in January. That would place it at #13 on her best selling album list, from what I can tell.

In 12th place is her 1992 Greatest Hits album with an estimated 170k, although it is only that: an estimate. Don't think we've ever had official sales for her PWL albums, her debut aside. Also worth considering that the 2002 Greatest Hits album is a re-release of this album and that sold 316k copies so combined sales stand at about half a million, although most sources keep them separate.

Posted by: pippa 18th December 2018, 05:41 PM

The original Greatest Hits and re-issue are confusing as they really are different releases.
Will be wonderful to see Golden overtake Kylie Christmas even if it takes until 2019.

Yeah looks safe around the 60-75 region i think for Friday and around 3.8-4k

2,074 tapes is very good.

Needs to sell a lot of those £5 ones to get number 1 cassette of year though..... must be on about 4.9k and 1975 around 8k...... doubt she will do it......

Golden now 417th on Itunes... not sure why they have let it freefall.... should have reduced to 4.99 to attract sales.....

If she sold 2k of cassettes in UK then she must have done a big load globally again

2,847 reported for the original cassette as of July
887 sales of the original Collector's Edition
2,074 sales of the Christmas Collector's Edition so far

Perfect thanks Jay.....

do we know how many 1975 have sold? i am sure i saw around 7,800 on release week>?

Love how Golden is already this week the 7th biggest weekly total in the Golden campaign and still Weds & Thurs to add.... definitely be 6th and closing on 5th.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 18th December 2018, 07:58 PM

7,147 for The 1975 in their first week, but it's unknown how much they've done in week 2 and so far this week (I'd imagine not too many!). Sadly it's probably an insurmountable amount of Golden to overcome, unless those £5 cassettes on pre-order are doing well?

Posted by: SmileyKylie 18th December 2018, 08:09 PM

Oh Jay i think she can do it!

thats only 1.3-1.4k to sell and at £5 i think many will a bought another copy just to not even touch lol, then some will buy to place on ebay lol and some who couldnt get first time will get ...... fingers crossed....

Golden up from 417 to 125 on UK itunes so a couple of extra sales there.....

Kylie Christmas up to Itunes 76! £4.99 price going down a treat.

Of five re-entries to the Top 75 this week, the most notable is Golden by Kylie Minogue. Posted by: slowdown73 25th December 2018, 12:00 AM

I still wonder if we will get a proper album reissue next year. BMG originally stated the album would be an 18 month campaign so I wonder whether they will issue a reissue around the first anniversary with new material. Maybe wishful thinking!

Posted by: SmileyKylie 25th December 2018, 12:07 AM

Well surely we will get a DVD at some point.

Wonder if we will see a Golden/Greatest Hits combo

Or a Greatest Hits + Golden Tour Bonus?

Posted by: Jordan Lee 26th December 2018, 01:17 AM

I’m surprised the reissue if there is one wasn’t around the Christmas market like a late November release as it would’ve been really big for sales and her fan base would’ve been out in force to get it.

Palomas re release has done fairly well extra weeks top 40 and consistent sales (she’s the first I thought of who’d re-released and was more of an albums artist) and I imagine Kylies would’ve been bigger I’ve definitely seen her across TV more anyways though. Kylie would’ve probably sold a lot more in the debut re release week as she has Stans and a hardcore fanbase then dropped and remained consistent from week 3 I’d have guessed.

Regardless though, this feels like Kylies biggest era since like 2003 for me. I Sales are obviously far lower now but she’s been everywhere this era in the UK amazing promo and the album itself is what it is a great pop album.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 26th December 2018, 11:02 PM

Hmmm, I'd probably say X feels like a bigger era overall to me.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 27th December 2018, 02:31 AM

I feel Golden was bigger than X as after her last couple of albums i didn't expect Golden to do aswell as it did. With X i thought it would have been much bigger in terms of sales as it was her comeback after her cancer diagnosis.

Anyone has any midweek updates?

Posted by: SmileyKylie 27th December 2018, 09:56 AM

Was 100 on Monday and will probably drop rapidly during the week as in no sales etc.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 27th December 2018, 11:50 AM

Shame it's in for at least a 50 place drop id have loved it to stay top 100 so she would be on the first chart of 2019 but least she will appear on the singles chart.

Posted by: pippa 27th December 2018, 12:35 PM

I had feared the album would get lost this week and it seems its what has happened.

Posted by: slowdown73 28th December 2018, 06:19 PM

Golden has dropped out of the T100 this week according to Say Hey. Don’t know the exact position!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th December 2018, 06:31 PM

Its disappointing but not a surprise

Posted by: aeroco 28th December 2018, 06:41 PM

It’s at 93 (down from 44) on the sales only album chart...so at least it still sold something reasonable.

Posted by: ___∆___ 28th December 2018, 10:42 PM

I definitely think the £5 cassettes got added into the previous weeks total as they shipped them early. But as has been said before I don’t care if Golden never troubles the charts again - it’s exceeded all expectations tbh.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 29th December 2018, 05:40 PM

Good to see Golden back up to 109th on iTunes today. Was down in the 400 hundreds so collected a few more sales.

Kylie Minogue Reel Stories on BBC at 6.15pm today. Pity it's only 25 mins long and not on BBC1

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 30th December 2018, 03:44 PM

Hopefully its a small sign that physical sales may be up to but i really dont see it back in the charts this week.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 30th December 2018, 04:02 PM

No definitely won't be back in charts , probably ever until Glastonbury maybe.

Can't see her doing any more Golden promo now unless she releases a DVD

Posted by: ___∆___ 31st December 2018, 02:53 PM

Would have been nice if they’d highlighted the savings on her official site and it had joined the HMV sale but as I’ve said before rather fitting its exited the charts at the end of 2018 after an epic year so not bothered if it never troubles the charts again (Although I have a feeling it will benefit from Glastonbury).

Would like us to kind of put 'country' Kylie aside now and concentrate on the Greatest Hits Package which will no doubt come!

I’ve heard nothing official about a greatest hits yet and it feels a strange time to release another hits set after just one album with a new label. Surely it would be better to focus on kylie establishing herself with her new label and releasing more mature music than another hits collection which probably won’t offer anything new!

Posted by: ___∆___ 31st December 2018, 06:07 PM

^^ This, I know other acts have benefitted from a GH being released around Glastonbury but not sure a huge demand is there for essentially a dead concept now that streaming playlists can easily be created.

Even with a few bonuses a new GH would offer us nothing we haven’t already had with Greatest Hits, Hits +, Greatest Hits 87-92, Ultimate Kylie & The Best Of!

Posted by: liamk97 31st December 2018, 07:14 PM

There's no Kylie GH that are currently physically produced though. May as well release a new definitive one to capitalise on the summer shows.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 1st January 2019, 01:34 AM

I'd love a new greatest hits and for them to really cover all the eras, I still think it could do well for her even though greatest hits releases are in decline.

Posted by: Red Blooded Man 1st January 2019, 05:15 AM

If this GH wants to do anything that troubles the chart, it needs to be comprehensive and include a couple of new songs.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 1st January 2019, 12:54 PM

Golden fell to #130 🤭

It ends the year as the 33rd best selling album!

Posted by: SmileyKylie 1st January 2019, 01:18 PM

There is no way NO WAY we will not get a either a release in time for Glastonbury or before.... It would be suicidal for a record company and artist not to capitalise... So new era or new greatest hits ?

Golden managed 33 on the end of year chart for 2018 albums. Brilliant result for Kylie in age of downloads and streaming this is fabulous.

Posted by: liamk97 3rd January 2019, 08:30 PM

That's her highest end of year position since Fever when it placed #15 in 2002 (was #10 in 2001). Kiss Me Once only made it to #93 in 2014.

In 2010, #33 on the Year End Chart sold over 330k. In 2014, it sold over 180k.

I wonder how many more weeks Golden will manage before having a week outside of the Top 200? Glad that it's set to hold on this week! It'll be its 39th week in the chart.

KMO was released earlier in the year than Golden, no? And I thought Aphrodite was around July?

Posted by: pippa 3rd January 2019, 10:00 PM

KMO has had plenty of time to build sales which it hasn't managed.
It is a forgotten Kylie album.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 3rd January 2019, 11:04 PM

It managed 86,000 as of early 2018, not amazing but hardly horrendous... and the fact it made the Top 100 best selling albums of 2014 is nothing to sniff at either.

And for a supposedly forgotten album, a lot of you are quick to remember it when the opportunity arises to be disparaging x

They (as in Body Language and X, which were the only studio album released in the last quarter) had the advantage of high Christmas sales though which balances it out a bit.

I should have clarified that Golden gives Kylie her highest placed studio album on the Year End Chart; Ultimate Kylie placed at #22 in 2004.

Here's the list of all her albums that have made the Year End Charts as well as the positions they placed:

Kylie: #1 (1988); #38 (1989)
Enjoy Yourself: #6 (1989); #70 (1990)
Rhythm of Love: #65 (1990)
Greatest Hits: #69 (1992)
Kylie Minogue: #95 (1994)
Light Years: #58 (2000); #156 (2001)' #165 (2002)
Fever: #10 (2001); #15 (2002); #196 (2003)

Ultimate Kylie: #22 (2004); #86 (2005)

Good list of year end chart details thanks Liam.

Relative to the market Golden has done at least as well as Aphrodite....X seems a bit bigger than both, it was released at a competitive time but hung around fairly well. BL was released when sales were higher but didn’t have as much longevity, I’d put it’s relative success below Golden and Aphrodite. LY initially was a solid comeback but because of her Fever resurgence managed to sell well for two years (loads of catalogue albums started to be properly reduced in price in the early 2000s, it was when sales generally started to shrink due to file sharing) so it’s probably on a par with Golden and Aphrodite.

I was chatting to a mate the other day in his mid 20s....he’s never bought a physical record and couldn’t believe it when I told him standard CDs were mostly £12.99 plus until 1999 (recall Boots started selling new release CDs for £9.99, supermarkets quickly took this on).

It'll be sad to see Golden leave the chart as it's been fun following its success but, considering the era is over, as far as the UK is concerned, I can't really complain. I'm sure it'll make a return come the summer shows anyway. 140k sales and chart longevity that is up there with the likes of Body Language, X and Aphrodite is really pleasing.

From a purely commercial point of view it's a real shame there was no new TV promo during December. MTSWY was being received well and they could have capitalised on it plus plug Dancing , SMFF. Not saying she would have sold anywhere near as well as George Ezra who really plugged his album, but because it had been well received all year he really reaped the rewards with massive sales and outsold loads of the Q4 big albums.

Kylie must have been in need of a rest though due to the bout of illness that caused her to pull out of the Magic concert. Once she performed those two Irish dates she decided to call it quits for the year. Her social media went much quieter.

So I hope she is well recovered somewhere....I recently saw a picture of her on twitter posted by a fan, in an airport in Perth Australia...

Totally - anything at all from this point on is a total bonus. So many pre-release predictions of it being a 1-7-28-54-73-88-out kinda album so it’s exceeded everyone’s expectations and has been a real return to commercial success for Kylie. The album was a hit and allowed her to reconnect with the GP and lapsed fans and got her onto almost every single high profile UK TV show.

All very true. In the chart forum many predicted a chart run like you outlined with some saying they cant wait to laugh when Kylie has one of the biggest falls from Number 1. The album surprised many and i think Kylie really managed to connect with her fans throughout the campaign.

I think the success of Golden will help Kylie make more careful decisions when it comes around to her 15th studio album. I think Kylie knows Kiss Me Once was a mistake, it was rushed and lacked an overall sound and direction and she over turned this with Golden.

'One Last Kiss' pre-countryfied. Oh. My. God. It's glorious! heart.gif

Has a slight 'Dancing On My Own' vibe about it.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 26th April 2019, 09:18 AM

That's really interesting. I wonder if quite a few songs on the album were incepted with that sort of feel before they became the jingly-jangly bops we now know?

Absolutely LOVE this version - glad we’ve got to hear at least some of it!

Pretty sure everyone has this laugh.gif But Amazon have reduced the super deluxe vinyl of ‘Golden’ to £19.77 (Think it was about £50 when it was originally released blink.gif )

Yeah I think it was about £50 originally too - I bought it when it was like half price and I'm sure I bought it for just over £20. Definitely worth getting for that price!

Posted by: ___∆___ 26th June 2019, 02:09 PM

^^ Same, I picked it up for about £25 from her website I think, great item!

Posted by: pippa 26th June 2019, 02:20 PM

Golden was a very special Kylie era.
It was her best handled release for a few years.
If the same effort went into X and Aphrodite i really believe these 2 eras could have achieved even greater success than they achieved.
That said, Kylie Christmas, was handled very well, a Top 10 place would have been nice when we look at the sales it achieved.
Kiss Me Once sold almost half of Kylie Christmas and has a much more impressive peak despite very poor sales.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 27th June 2019, 09:31 AM

Bmg and kylie really got behind golden and kylie really believed in the release unlike kiss me once which made a massive difference.

Golden is the third best selling cassette since 2010! Shifted 6.3k cassettes.

Kylie Minogue is also a big seller on the vintage platform, shifting 6,300 tapes of her Number 1 album Golden. Following its initial release, Kylie also released a Collector's Edition and a Winter Collector's Edition on cassette. The singer’s recent chart-topping best of, Step Back In Time, places tenth.

Great result for golden, the same interest just wasnt there for the sbit cassette but golden captured the novelty factor.

I can't find the exact opening cassette total for Golden but I think Step Back in Time opened with a similar amount.

Posted by: pippa 31st July 2019, 01:31 PM

The follow ups slowed down with SBIT but Golden did have the Christmas re-release which boosted sales.
The cd3 addition would be the ideal addition/release to boost SBIT.

Yes definitely more appeal and novelty factor with the ‘Golden’ cassette plus it was half the price of SBIT.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 31st July 2019, 10:42 PM

If they reduce the price it will prob help sell more.

Posted by: pippa 1st August 2019, 11:22 AM

The cassette will naturally sell over the next few week althoughbeit in low numbers.
I think its highly unlikely any re issues of the cassette will get released the way Golden did.

Posted by: ___∆___ 6th August 2019, 10:00 PM

Was streaming this today - I overplayed it SO much when it was released that I needed a break from it but listening to it makes me realise how much I love the entire album, definitely one of her best - really can’t wait to see how she will follow this up, she nailed the ‘adult pop’ perfectly with it so hopefully that’s how she will continue.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 6th August 2019, 11:40 PM

Ya it's hard to see what direction her next album will take.

Posted by: pippa 7th August 2019, 01:35 PM

I don't think Kylie will change too far away from the sound of Golden.
This sound suited Kylie, it worked, and both Kylie and the fans enjoyed it.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 7th August 2019, 09:26 PM

I expect it to be different, she doesn't really tend to repeat the same thing twice.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 7th August 2019, 10:36 PM

I'm hoping for a pop/dance/trance style for the next album.

Posted by: Medellíam 7th August 2019, 11:45 PM

I don't really know where Kylie will go sound-wise but I'm excited for it. These summer shows, particularly Glastonbury, have really reminded the public what they love about Kylie's music and Kylie must be riding high on their energy and love, so I'm expecting her next album to be a triumph. I suspect she'll want to capture that breezy feel good pop sound that makes Spinning, Head, Sight, Wow and now Dancing such successes.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 8th August 2019, 09:43 AM

Good pop is where kylie succeeds bezt just like you mentioned and hopefully she go on that route.

Posted by: pippa 8th August 2019, 12:06 PM

Upbeat and fun and strong pop elements and Kylie wont go wrong.

The original, pre-country demo of 'One Last Kiss' that got uploaded a few months back was quickly removed, but it's been remixed on SoundCloud in a similar style:

#LOVERS ... 2 years ago today, Golden entered the charts at #1. It was such an exciting time for me and my team and connecting with so many of you around the world was truly wonderful. It seems a world away from where we are now but as I work (remotely) on new material, I send love and gratitude to you all. Stay safe everyone. 💖😘

Really doesn't feel two years ago! This era was such a blast to follow from start to finish. I re-listened to the album a couple of weeks back and it still holds up as strongly.

Pleased to hear she's still working on new music too!

Posted by: ___∆___ 14th April 2020, 07:40 PM

Love that she celebrated the 2nd anniversary - you can tell Kylie is proud of the album and era.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 14th April 2020, 07:49 PM

Great that Kylie acknowledged the 2 year anniversary as she never does that with her albums.

Posted by: ___∆___ 26th April 2020, 09:13 AM

Just came up on my memories today that 2 years ago when I was living in NY for the US ‘Golden’ campaign - such a great time although it feels like longer than 2 years ago! Was lucky enough to see and meet Kylie a few times and then it was only a few months later that she returned for her show at the ICONIC Bowery Ballroom - one of the best and most intimate shows I’ve ever been too where we were treated to ‘New York City’ being premiered twice. Great memories wub.gif

You lucky b***a*d I'd love to meet her, I think getting to the top row of a concert was the closest il get. I'm sure she was lovely to meet.

Love that you are just discovering Golden now - such a solid album wub.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 5th May 2020, 03:26 PM

Golden is a solid album overall, I prefer aphrodite to it overall and a few other albums but golden saw the return of a fresh and energised Kylie.

Posted by: pippa 5th May 2020, 04:52 PM

Aphrodite I largely prefer as an album to Golden.
This doesn't detract from Golden as I enjoy the album.
As time moves on I listen to Golden album tracks that bit less which did not happen with some Aphrodite album tracks.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 5th May 2020, 04:59 PM

When listening to both albums in full Aphrodite is so much stronger for me, Aphrodite did fall down on not having the songs that were screaming to be singles, all the lovers was so hard to follow as its just an amazing track that suited kylie so well. Golden did have songs screaming out to be singles when i first heard the album Stop me from falling and musics too sad with you were shouting single for me. Cupid boy and better than today i did think of for singles when i first heard Aphrodite but it was harder to predict the singles that would come from the album, the singles were easier to predict on Golden.

Posted by: pippa 5th May 2020, 05:01 PM

Golden did offer more songs that stood out as good choices for singles.
That said, Closer and Cupid Boy did stand out to be selected as singles when the album was released.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 5th May 2020, 05:04 PM

Its hard to know whether any of these would have done any better than get outta my way, i would like to think they might of as i wasnt a fan of get outta my way for second single.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 5th May 2020, 07:19 PM

I really don't see how either of those would have done better.

Posted by: pippa 5th May 2020, 07:34 PM

Either is likely to have outperformed Better Than Today had they made the selection for the 3rd single to represent Aphrodite.

QUOTE(Tawdry Hepburn @ May 5 2020, 08:19 PM) *

Agreed. 'Get Outta My Way' was the perfect second single, but should have been ready to push when the album was released. Like, why did it get performed on Alan Carr in July but not receive its physical release until the end of September? It just shows that Parlophone were stuck in the early 00s method of single releasing.

Never forget the time on X Factor when Dermot asked when 'Better Than Today' would be out and Kylie replied "soon". Soon?! She should have said "right NOW".

Posted by: pippa 5th May 2020, 07:51 PM

Parlophone struggled immensely with the singles market at that point.
They had a very outdated approach which Kylie acknowledged.
Kylie badly messed up that answer on X Factor when talking to Dermot about the availability of Better Than Today.

Golden is not a firm favourite of mine either but I do rate the album positively.
I am guilty of listening to the cd at times instead of given it the extra streams.
Golden doesn't have a song that ever makes me question why it was selected for the album.

It's been great revisiting the album, has been a while since I last played it! Lost Without You is a true GEM though, it really should've been the standard album closing track. It fits really well after Music's Too Sad actually, and lifts the mood back up for a gorgeous close! Shame it's only on the deluxe - it's single material imo sad.gif

Yes Bal! 'Lost Without You' is really glorious, I'm so pleased Kylie fought to have it on the album and subsequently the tour. I know they were playing on the country theme throughout the era, but this would have been a perfect single. The tour performance with the spoken middle 8 and the lazer scene was such a highlight.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 5th May 2020, 08:24 PM

Def not a single choice for me, it prob should be on the standard edition of the album but i never saw it good enough for a single.

Posted by: pippa 5th May 2020, 08:32 PM

Lost Without You is nowhere near strong enough to have been a single.
It' is not a terrible song by any stretch, it is a very B side song.

Posted by: Liam.k. 5th May 2020, 08:37 PM

I know you guys don't like it but it's seen as a huge highlight by most of the fanbase, it would have been good to capitalise on that and I think it would have got some fans that weren't keen on the country direction back on board with the era.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 5th May 2020, 08:40 PM

I really couldn't see it even getting the limited success MTSWY did. It would have done better than a lifetime to repair if got that slot on x factor to be fair.

Posted by: pippa 5th May 2020, 08:46 PM

There is a strong possibility Kylie would have performed a better version of Lost Without You.
The studio versions of each song places A Lifetime To Repair a stronger song.

sad.gif Is there something specific about Lost Without You that makes you feel so meh towards it? Lyrically, vocally, production-wise?

If memory serves me correctly a few reviews favourably singled out Lost Without You and a couple of interviews made special mention of the song? There's certainly something to it which elevates it over B Side status and it even drew more attention than some of the other Golden album tracks. Not that being a B Side always means a song is "less good" because Kylie has some great B Sides, but... in my opinion Lost Without You is highly worthy of album status and would have been a strong single. I don't necessarily mean commercially strong, because Kylie's days of huge hits are sadly over, but I think it would sit very comfortably amongst her singles... as a highlight!

The tour performance was epic wub.gif

Posted by: pippa 5th May 2020, 08:53 PM

Lost Without You passes over aplenty when listening to the album.
It has yet to stir anything within me when I hear the song.
I should be clear, there is no big dislike of the song, it is a competitive album for good songs.
That said, if Lost Without You had appeared on Kiss Me Once, I would classify it as an album highlight.

It was THE highlight of the tour. The vocal was epic, the feeling was euphoric and those lasers.

Plus the emotion in the song... I really think she wrote it about feeling unhappy towards the end of her relationship with Joshua. If you listen to the song, you can almost feel her desperation to escape from him and find the light on the other side. It reveals a rarely seen really vulnerable side of her.

I imagine so too. I assume this was from one of the earlier sessions of the album, hence the lack of country-tinge, which Kylie admits being a period of just letting all her emotion out in her songwriting. She must have known she had something special with this one, knowing she discarded pretty much everything but this.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 5th May 2020, 11:27 PM

In some ways the album has 3 sounds, pop, country and ballads but they mix well. Dancing, stop me from falling and a lifetime to repair are uplifting pop, lost without you and music's too sad with you cover the ballads, the others have a bit of pop and country together will less of a hint of pop.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 5th May 2020, 11:32 PM

I feel like 'Sincerely Yours' as a ballad is completely different from the aesthetic of the album but somehow fits and is essential.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 5th May 2020, 11:43 PM

Overall all the songs fit well together on the album which is great as it gives the album a real complete sound to it.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 6th May 2020, 01:20 AM

I will also say though, even if you don't appreciate the song or get it - for any Kylie fan to say 'Lost Without You' instills nothing in them is to me quite astonishing, considering how much of herself she bares in that song with such raw intensity.

Posted by: pippa 6th May 2020, 05:26 PM

Lost Without You as I have reiterated is not a bad song.

Two years on from release, Golden is remaining highly popular with fans.
It is welcoming that it wasn't just popular as it was new, its popularity was quality based.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 14th May 2020, 08:00 PM

Its def an album that i still enjoy a good few of the songs, I think an album needs nearly a year before you can decide where it really ranks among other albums. Sometimes albums can be instant and then after a while get tiresome and other albums like impossible princess take time to get into it. Golden is lucky that it has a few songs that I think fans will always rate highly.

Posted by: ___∆___ 14th May 2020, 08:24 PM

I think ‘Golden’ will always be looked back on as a good era for Kylie after the dire end to her Parlophone years.

‘Golden’ returned her to chart glory and led the way to Glastonbury etc.,

Posted by: pippa 14th May 2020, 08:25 PM

Golden had some instantly likeable songs that remain great.
It also housed songs that required time to embrace which provides the album with a good balance.
Golden is also surrounded by so many glorious Kylie moments which places the album very positively with fans

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 14th May 2020, 08:32 PM

While golden isnt my fave album or in my top 5 but i like it alot but it was a great campaign by kylie and so much happened throughout the campaign that will always make it memorable. My Golden album review =

Dancing
A great choice for the lead single, a foot tapping country infused pop anthem that really sets the tone for what's to come and definitely one of those many Kylie moments at where she redefines pop music, and even this far into her career, she can still do it. A brilliant track that I still go back to regularly. A firm Kylie classic in her discography that's already littered with them. This is definitely the best thing she's done in years and just an amazing comeback.

Stop Me From Falling
It didn't quite hit me straight away, but this song has a way growing on you and quickly loving it. Follows on perfectly from track 1 with its lively and killer chorus, along with some fantastic keyboard vocals. The song has an even more Country twang to it and the Latin remix with Gente De Zona adds even more flavour to it, giving that something extra that makes it really pop. Plus that music video (the 2nd one) is just incredible and makes this the perfect follow up single.

Golden
The title track and finally for the first time in her career she's finally released one as a single. I love the Country Western yodelling at the start, then quickly firing in with some infectious verses and choruses along with its organic production and some fantastic guitars, this is a great track and like many on this a standout moment.

A Lifetime To Repair
The country theme continues with this barnyard hoedown complete with banjo and finger clicking but still has that classic Kylie pop sound to it. Would have loved a proper music video to this with a comical country theme with a storyline, Kylie getting her heart broken and then taking revenge on her lover with some mad-cap antics that could follow the lyrics of the song. A missed opportunity there I think. The live performances is where this song gets to really shine with its more upbeat production and acoustic guitars. Still a great track though.

Sincerely Yours
The tone comes down with this sweet light pop ballad that's an open love letter to her fans with some beautiful strings and anthemic hooks. This will be a welcome addition to any of her tours, these some wonderful vocals on show here and fantastic lyrics stating simply that she loves us dearly - I hope this doesn't mean she's leaving us.

One Last Kiss
Well every album has them, that one dud that doesn't quite live up to the standard. Not a terrible song by any means, its inoffensive enough with a nice rhythm and good guitar riffs. Definitely belongs on the album and nothing more.

Live A Little
Thankfully things pick up with an almighty BANG, its another hoedown with lots of clapping and then the killer chorus comes in which really POPS. Why wasn't this included on the setlist of her wonderful tour, surely we deserve a live performance of this little gem.

Shelby '68
A bit of a puzzling song where Kylie sings about her father's car, but it works with every listen, it really burns deep into the soul and demonstrates even more of Kylie's ability to write and sing a downtempo song that not many people would expect from her. A really nice listen.

Radio On
Another beautiful and tender moment with its stripped back production that shows the many layers of not only Kylie herself but what the album has to offer. The acoustic guitars and violins works perfectly with Kylie's vocals and the song itself and for anyone who says her ballads aren't all that great, then check this little beauty out and also the live performances is where this really shines. Its country easy listening at its finest.

Love
The pace picks up with this nice little number where Kylie talks about the effects of love and previous breakups, which really tells a story, simple but quite effective, not one of the strongest tracks on the album, but still good enough to enjoy.

Raining Glitter
Disco Kylie at its absolute finest, definitely one of the BEST tracks on this album and WHY wasn't this a single. Well anyway its Pop/Dance/Disco/Country all perfectly fused together into this almighty force of an anthem, just an all out fun and fantastic experience and could this be a hint of where Kylie's going next...mmm maybe.

Music's Too Sad Without You (Ft Jack Savoretti)
A nice mature way to end the standard edition of the album, its a gorgeous and sumptuous duet with the wonderfully talented Jack Savoretti his gravely voice against Kylie’s sad yet amazing vocal are a perfect combination. With such lush and beautiful production and just everything about this country tinged ballad works perfectly, Everything just comes together like magic.

Lost Without You
WOW just OMG wow, why this was only a bonus track is beyond me, yeah okay this doesn't really have that Country sound the rest of the album has, but you gotta admit this is just incredible with Kylie's powerful vocals and electric guitars laden amazing number from beginning to end. Glad this got its time to shine on tour as its magnificent.

Every Little Part Of Me
The outstanding bonus tracks continue with this up-tempo number with some nice high-pitched vocals by Kylie. There's a really nice melody going on here that's more Pop than Country.

Rollin'
The Country comes back which sounds like a mirrored version of 'Dancing' (maybe that's why it was the B-Side). It's okay but definitely belongs as a bonus track.

Low Blow
A bit of an odd ending to the album, doesn't really fit the theme of the album and a total dud, definitely the worst this album has to offer, but considering its just a bonus track it doesn't really offend me all that much, I suppose its catchy enough. But leaving this aside 'Golden' is incredible.

You must need a decent-ish enough number seeing as it’s the the main Amazon chart? However I’m pleased that it’s still selling at all as it all adds to the overall sales cheer.gif

It would be a joy for Golden to stick its head in the door of the charts for one more week.

Well as it’s shifted a few physicals this week be sure to stream ‘Golden’ a couple of times cheer.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 22nd May 2020, 07:56 PM

I think it would need to be a lot higher on the amazon chart and stay high for a few days to even be in with a chance of making it to the chart next week.

Unfortunately so - shame Amazon sold out so quickly after it started moving up the charts, impressed that it managed #79 though cheer.gif

The standard CD has gone down to £7.80 on Amazon and is selling ok.

They need a £5 download/CD price cut to give it a push though tbh. I guess in the grand scheme of things they likely don’t care - it went gold and is shifting some units each week so it’s probably achieved what they wanted it to.

Totally agree - I just guess BMG don’t care enough to do so, I always find it odd when they have 1000s of physicals left over that they don’t try to shift them!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 22nd May 2020, 09:06 PM

BMG really go for it in the early stages and then get lazy when it dies down,

If sold at reduced prices they would sell out within a week.

easily they would sell, if they dont do something soon with them they will just get binned.

Posted by: pippa 23rd May 2020, 08:58 AM

With the current market situation a price move with Step Back In Time would draw more sales than the reduction on Golden.

I'm still surprised they havnt reduced it.

I've now listened to this along with Aphrodite and Light Years in my gradual Kylie listen through. Dancing, Raining Glitter (I figured with a title like that it had to be a gay anthem laugh.gif) and Lost Without You (AFSC x) were the only songs I knew. I'd say it's probably my least favourite of the 4 Kylie Albums I've heard, just because a few tracks blended into one but everything was good apart from Radio On, Low Blow and I found Music's Too Sad Without You a bit of a drag oops. Particularly stanned for Golden, Sincerely Yours, One Last Kiss, Shelby '68 and Every Little Part Of Me (my fave wub.gif)

Just saw that.... £5 for the Christmas cassette at long last.....picture vinyl really cheap now too...incredible how Golden did great on physicals but they still have stock whereas Disco formats almost all sold out...perhaps they produced less or it’s also harder to produce more due to Covid-19.

Posted by: ___∆___ 26th November 2020, 10:00 AM

^^ I think they overproduced on Golden & Disco hence why there are picture discs and cassettes left years later, they really are fan only items and quite a hard sell to the general public.

They have waited far too long to reduce some of the items too but hopefully they will pick up a few sales.

6 years! drama.gif I played the album so much in the year of release, but I haven't gone back to it for a while. Maybe I should revisit it for its anniversary.

I will always appreciate the era for being a rejuvenation of sorts; public perception seemed more positive than it had done for a while, and it felt like she was starting to be treated as an actual legend?

Her first release with BMG and the start of the multi-formatting / major dents in our bank accounts. kink.gif I kind of regard the Golden cassettes as being one of the earliest examples of the format being revived and selling well? I wish them being a £5 cute throwback gimmick had remained the case in the years since. Record labels became greedy with them. Just look at Dua's latest album having a cassette for £15 and it's only a card sleeve! drama.gif

I went to the tour, one of my favourite concert experiences and I was close to the catwalk, it felt " ohmy.gif " to see her so close (and have a concept of how short she actually is kink.gif ). Who'd have thought during the Golden tour that she'd not have had a follow up arena tour 6 years later... cry.gif

Same, I played the album constantly and have it a break for a while but now I really enjoy listening to it regularly - I know it has its detractors but it’s such a solid album and a solid return after the Parlophone years and the lack of ‘normal’ commercial success with KMO and KC.

And I agree on the cassettes, Kylie seemed to really kick them off - demand was high and it seemed to catch people off guard at the success of them.

Record Companies are killing off the cassette now with, as you say price hikes and cardboard sleeves. They were/are a great little add on at the right price for people to support their faves at a low cost, as they are a defunct format charging £15 for a subpar release takes away from it.

The various ‘Golden’ cassettes had bonus content, slip covers etc., something we’ve not seen since.

I’d agree to be fair. For me, Disco is the epitome of a lockdown album. It really hit the spot, and saved us from the depths of despair. It was also a moment for Kylie to re-affirm exactly what she is known for. And that paved the way for Tension.

But Golden has more carefully honed changes in pace, mood and sound (than Disco).

Posted by: aeroco 6th April 2024, 03:20 PM

Bizarrely listed to my picture disc vinyl this morning and then later Kylie posted the 6 year anniversary!

I think Disco is much better however I love that she co wrote everything on Golden and I think it was an very important record for her career wise.

The era itself revitalised her career and I think it was the first time in a few years we really saw kylie fully invested in an album and I think kylie came across so alive and invigurated in all the performances, it's an era I really enjoyed and i still like the album a lot but musically I prefer disco.

I’ve always thought this, Disco is great and it’s what we needed at the time - in the gloom of covid and lockdown it was something to get invested in.

I think ‘Golden’ has and will continue to hold up well, i know it’s only 6 years old but due to the nature of the songs and music I don’t think it’ll age as much as ‘Disco’ will.
