#48 today, passed 2k.
It's possible that she could miss the Top 50 but I don't think it'll be that much lower. Everything around her is selling pretty similar quantities and her lead is comparitively better.
Even with a big drop top 75 is secure
The album is positioned well to stay top 60 with sales of 2500 units.
7 months after its release, none us thought this would happen.
From the previous thread...

Albums by weeks in Top 75:
70 weeks: Fever
67 weeks: Kylie
33 weeks: Enjoy Yourself
29 weeks: Aphrodite
29 weeks: Light Years
27 weeks: X
22 weeks: Rhythm of Love
21 weeks: Golden
18 weeks: Body Language
16 weeks: Kylie Minogue
12 weeks: Let's Get to It
10 weeks: Kylie Christmas
9 weeks: Kiss Me Once
4 weeks: Impossible Princess
It will level with Rhythm of Love this week.
It only needs 1 more week thereafter to move up to 6th place.
So it going to sell close to 10,000 copies in November......
any predictions for December? 5-6k?
I would predict between seven to eight thousand sales for December.
Super Deluxe Vinyl reduced to £23.95 on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Golden-Super-Deluxe-Kylie-Minogue/dp/B0793NBH68/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1543443444&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=kylie+minogue+golden&dpPl=1&dpID=61HIit3pOHL&ref=plSrch
Currently #529, which seems like nothing, but I'm sure it used to be in the like 10 thousands!
My copy still hasn't arrived after ordering on Friday.
Wow 17 different formats, fair play that can investment.
How much did it used to be?
The Golden vinyl is now being promoted on Amazon under ‘Limited Time Deals’ - obviously not going to appeal to the masses but should shift a few copies.
I wonder her actual sales would be if her fans didn't purchase over 10 copies each.
Been a collector is expensive,I used to think I had a very decent kylie collection but ut really pales in comparison to some of you guys.
It is a serious financial commitment but it's so nice to have such a string collection,is kylie the only artist you collect in full for.
#47 on the Thursday update, 2.4k sales.
Holding up nicely! Even if it drops I can’t see it missing the T50 by much.
Some years ago, 3000 sales would not be enough to take a Top 100 position.
That aside, its a great result for todays update,Top 60 is looking safe for Golden for this week.
Like all week I'm really happy with its position again today.
I received the Super Deluxe in the post yesterday, I love it
This is what I have:
I bought the following three items from her official store in a bundle that also included Dancing 7" vinyl & 2 photographs. Altogether this cost me £55 (£45 for the items and £10 postage with tracking) -
CD - Deluxe
12" Vinyl - Picture Disc
Cassette - Black Spools
£5.00 | CD - Standard
£23.95 | CD/Vinyl - Super Deluxe
£22.99 | 12" Vinyl - Clear
£25.00 | Cassette - Collector's Edition (2 copies, 1 sealed and 1 unsealed) / £10 each for the cassettes and £2.50 each for postage
It is rather a lot of money overall, but what can I say, I love Kylie and I love Golden!
Worse things to spend your money on
I'm predicting number 51 today.
From UKMIX, a breakdown of the Thursday update:
47 (63) GOLDEN
Sales: 2,432
Yesterday: 411
Sales WoW: +25%
CD: 1,904

Compared with the breakdown for last Friday's official chart placing:

Sales: 2,307
Total sales: 124,706
Sales WoW: -13%

Streaming will likely be about the same week-on-week but everything else is up
A big jump in the sales of the vinyl showing the sale on her site worked and attracted sales.
Number 48 this week
Rita Ora missed top 10 oops
3130 copies this week , excellent.
Staying Top 50 with sales of over 3,000 is fantastic.
Wonderful result.
Really happy with that aswell.
3,126 sales - 2,584 physicals, 273 downloads and 269 streaming. Total: 127,832
Its 7th highest weekly sale!
Hopefully we'll see it exceed 130,000 next week
Really hoping it can stay top 75 this week just to get that extra week to move up the list of longest chart weeks for an album by kylie. Also I wonder is Christmas kylie showing any signs of coming back to the chart.
I had thought it might make the top 100 this year but if it doesnt it means golden is in a great position to overtake it in total sales which is good as so much better as an album.
Holding nicely at 54 on UK Itunes
its always a good sign and as it is 2 for £10 in HMV and £5 everywhere else i feel it could hold again top 75 this week and probably another 2.5k sold.
In really hoping it will as one week makes a difference this time.
Starting at #68 in the mids this week.
Not too bad.
There are few albums she could overtake during the week.
Ann-Marie has had loads of coverage recently and even she is only a few places ahead
Rita Ora flopping
Sales from UKMIX:
68 (48) GOLDEN

Such an amazing result for Kylie.... especially when newer and more radio/streaming friendly artists like Rita Ora and Jess Glynne haven't exactly made a massive splash with their 2nd albums (yes, I'm aware Jess started at #1 but for her profile and hits, I thought the album would be a bigger seller and stay longer in the upper reaches of the chart than it has).
I recall being sick (from work) the day Dancing leaked, and I heard it on youtube. I didn't hate it, but I definitely didn't love it. And I thought, oh well.... fingers crossed for a top 10 album. Whoever imagined the album would not only debut at #1 with close to 50K first week sales...but that we would be tracking its position during the Dec timeframe?! So happy for and proud of her. This also bodes well in terms of the record label having confidence in her for a follow up album. And who knows, she may get more budget too! And nicer promo slots.
My only 2 regrets with the campaign so far is wrong choice of song for X Factor (she could've just done Stop Me From Falling, again), and no promo slot on Dancing with the Stars.
Golden ranks #23 on Albumism's 50 Best Albums of 2018.
Full album review below:
I agree with the noteable tracks and it's a great and very reflective write up.Not a bad mid week position either.
Up to 47 on UK itunes album chart. best it has been for a while.
May be a slight indication it will remain Top 75 in the mid week chart today.
Fantastic album review - all these kind of things will help with trickle sales going forward.
#66 with 1.5k today.
Wonderful to see it has climbed since the previous update.
That is 400 more sales too since the last update.
3 more days to go so it should hopefully do 2.5k again this week
It would be wonderful if it can stay Top 75 and move forward on her list of longest serving albums on the chart.
I'm hoping that if not this week she will do it another week.
#69 today.
Everyones favourite position.......
It is maintaining a very steady position in all the updates this week.
Seems like it’s on course for 2,500-ish, so this should be the week that it crosses over 130k.
Difficult to predict the sales for the rest of the year but I suppose it’s likely to end 2018 somewhere between 135k and 140k. Hopefully enough to hold on to the Top 40 best selling albums of the year (it’s currently 27th).
Fingers crossed! ~140k was the cut off for the Top 40 from 2015 to be 2017 so hopefully Golden can make it.
I would be so disappointed if it falls out at the last minute.
This time last year Kasabian were at 27 there with 130.7k and in the year end chart they ended up at #40 precisely, getting to 140k so it’s gonna be close.
That said, this time last year #40 sold 111k and right now it’s on 103k.
So if I put a bet I’d say she would make it.
Hopefully it will hold on but it will be close and likewise with staying top 75 this week.
I have a feeling and an annoying feeling that Golden will end the week at number 76.
While this is fine, I am hungry to see the album get the 1 week more on the official Top 75.
Fingers crossed the album will be back on the Irish charts tomorrow.
Oh I will, our chart is available just after 3pm.
Was just looking at chart weeks for Golden - it seems the UK is the only place it’s had any longevity (Belgium is next with 11 weeks). It only spent 6 weeks in the Australian charts despite getting to #1 although I’m sure Mushroom will release a tour edition of the album when she takes the shows over there as they usually do (and they are always such great packages too!).
I would be very interested in the Mushroom release if it happens.
69 this week in Official chart
Held up well this week - was expecting it to be out of the T75 tbh
Wonderful result, now overtakes Rhythm of Love for chart weeks and stays on the chart.
She looks to have sold around 2600 this week.
64 sold 2.86k
75 sold 2.5k
69 approx 2.6-2.7k
With the cassette coming Golden should manage at least 1 more week in the Top 75 region of the chart.
I think Golden will be heavily featured in all the January sales - fully expecting the download to drop below £5 and offers from her official store, HMV etc., so could have a few more weeks in the charts.
Pleased it’s holding on just a shame sales all round are so disappointing now.
Sales appear really down this year.
50K for a number 1 at this time of year are very disappointing.
Good for kylie!
Great UK result.so disappointed that after the concerts the album isn't back in the top 100 in Ireland which probably only takes about 150 sales to make it
2,684 for Golden this week, which takes its total to 130,516
(2,243 physicals, 202 downloads, 239 streaming units)
I estimate Golden being 29th in the YTD as of this week! (Down from 27th).
It's been overtaken by Jess Glynne - Always In Between, Take That - Odyssey, Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody OST and Michael Buble - Love, but Golden appears to have overtaken Oasis - Time Flies and Fleetwood Mac - The Very Best Of.
Hopefully she can hang onto top 40 year end position.
Looks like she has done something for Late Late Show in Ireland
Ps. How do we know Kylie isn't doing the Strictly final?
Ok cool.
I'm sure they could slot Kylie in too at the last minute 😏
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DuNbOQOty7M 😂😂
Kylie needs a rest now, she has been struggling with her voice she has been promoting since February not to mention the rehearsals needed prior, video shoots etc .... Let her have a well earned rest. I am so hoping the BRITS will be the next big gig for her.
Golden is showing at number 73 in today's midweek chart.
Top 100 is safe for this week until the cassette sales kick in next week.

Should get 2k sales again this week
Easily 2k and if Kylie Christmas or Santa Baby are going to chart it should happen this week.
I don't see Kylie Christmas re-entering though.
With it so low on Amazon it clearly shows it wont do much at all this year.
From actual cd sales, it would be interesting to know how much Amazon accounts for.
Just had an advert appear for the cassette on Facebook BMG really want that ‘Biggest Selling Cassette of 2018’ title!
Happy to see it top 75 today.
75 today 1,360 sales. Only 203 sales on Monday. Needs the cassette sales from Friday and some slight promo?
Should remain Top 85 by Friday - ready for a sales surge next week
Yeah rather have a dip then jump as it makes more headlines 😎
It is not a big enough jump for any headlines
Top 75 for another day, Top 100 is secure for this week.
Once it stays top 100 and 2k sales il be happy.
I meant it would make more of a headline if it goes from 90 to 50 in Xmas week as Queen of cassettes lol
The Christmas Number 1 barely gets a headline these days so i doubt an album climbing into the top 50 would get any attention.
Mid #73 with 1,890
That is good, the last 2-3 weeks Golden has improved on the Wednesday update in compassion to the Tuesday updates.
Top 80 is likely safe and sales of at least 2k is now secure.
Yep 2 more days of sales so should near 2.4-2.5k
I think starting 14th to put digital down to 4.99 too. Mixed with CDs, Vinyl as cassette she could get maybe 5k sales next week
What is her projected position for Friday do we know. She might just manage top 75 again.
I think she will sneak top 75.
Big reductions on her website for everything!!!!!!!
Great prices !
Looks like she is getting ready to try and get big sales next week
Love to see BMG trying to squeeze those pre-Christmas sales. Totally the right time for them to slash prices now rather than waiting until January - The picture disc and photo set for £15 is a good price that should encourage some sales Also the majority of the sales for reduced items will count towards next weeks chart along with the cassette sales so she could have a great sales week.
Hopefully they send out a mail shot to highlight the reductions.
They are showing the signs they want a big week next week.
Could in the region of 5000 sales for next week be a possibility?
i actually think we could see nearer 7k..... lets see could be way off the mark

going to hit 2.5k this week and over 2k in CDs!
Those vinyl sales Love that people are still investing in the vinyl so long after release.
There is a Vinyl on her Spotify page selling for £13.
Sales are so good for number 74.
Touch and go if it can stay Top 75 but sales are impressive regardless.
on a side note it would be lovely if Golden could outsell Pink and Taylor Swift albums in next few weeks and finish above in year end. i know they released in 2017 but would be a good coup for Kylie.
Golden passed Reputation during this week, as of today's midweeks Golden has sold 400+ more copies than Reputation in 2018. Golden is also less than 20 copies behind Beautiful Trauma as of today's mids, and will definitely have moved ahead in time for tomorrow's Year-to-Date chart.
79 this week!
Happy with #79 - bring on the cassette sales next week along with the reductions on vinyl etc.,
It would have been wonderful if it stayed Top 75 but 79 is nothing to complain about with good sales.
Assuming its true the cassettes weren't limited then I could see 2k being sold quite easily, then add on the 2.5-3k the album would presumably sell in other formats. That would be about 5k sales. Looking forward to seeing it's boost this week regardless.
Yes I think easily 2k of cassettes could have been shifted to UK fans, also the price reductions on the official store will really help - people that want to complete their collections might now be tempted (The picture disc is now £15, and the deluxe bundle which includes multiple formats and the Dancing Vinyl has been reduced from £95 to £40).

Great sales and hopefully almost double that this week. Once again no sign of it on the Irish chart.
Any early predictions for this week,I think top 50.
Golden ranks #11 on Rolling Stone's Top Pop Albums of 2018:
Not sure!
Who knows what the cassette sold? Where pre sales very disappointing so they put out the £5 cassette too to get more sales or did they sell well? It took big numbers to 6.7k for top 40 last week and 4.1k for top 50.
She has no promo sadly like a lot of artists had..... I think top 50 tomorrow would be excellent and then top 75 for the full week
Surprised they didn't do iTunes 4.99 to be honest this week also.
Wonder what januay will bring? Will they put Golden at 3.99?
I expect Golden should comfortably re-enter the T75 this week and sell 3-4K. Might reach 140K by the end of the year.
It could potentially show a Top 40 position today with the cassette sales.
That said, it will fall through the week, but, should secure Top 75.
Number 35 in the mids!
Santa baby is no80.
Great news for Santa Babes and Golden. Hopefully Golden has already sold over 3000 copies.
sales are still low. 25k for no1 album so unlikely to have sold much more than 2k so far this week!
Yep agreed.
i did think she may have released the £5 cassette as take up of the £10 one wasnt as much as they had wanted....
Wonderful to see it back in the Top 40, even if just for a short stay.
Top 75 is on lock now.
Sales may possibly be more spread over the chart.
Positions in the lower end may be on slightly higher sales than normal due to been lack of huge stand out sellers.
Great result! The power of the cassette
3K sales, could another 1k be possible for the remainder of the week?
Maybe she might do about 6-7k this week then?
Good start for the week,if she does 5000 it would be brill.
If Kylie can reach 5k this week and 2k next week, Golden should be on track to overtake Kylie Christmas on overall sales.
Am i correct?
Probably won’t be enough as KC will sell this week and next...all depends on how successful the cassettes and discounts are in driving sales. Golden will at worst pass KC early next year regardless.
Yep, Golden should at least pass in January. That would place it at #13 on her best selling album list, from what I can tell.
In 12th place is her 1992 Greatest Hits album with an estimated 170k, although it is only that: an estimate. Don't think we've ever had official sales for her PWL albums, her debut aside. Also worth considering that the 2002 Greatest Hits album is a re-release of this album and that sold 316k copies so combined sales stand at about half a million, although most sources keep them separate.
The original Greatest Hits and re-issue are confusing as they really are different releases.
Will be wonderful to see Golden overtake Kylie Christmas even if it takes until 2019.
Midweek today
43 (79) GOLDEN
Sales: 3,263
Yesterday: 211
Sales WoW: +140%
CD:1,026
Digital: 40
Streaming: 86
LP: 37
Other (Assuming Tape) 2,074
Looks like it will sell around 4K this week based on the above figures!
Yeah looks safe around the 60-75 region i think for Friday and around 3.8-4k
2,074 tapes is very good.
Needs to sell a lot of those £5 ones to get number 1 cassette of year though..... must be on about 4.9k and 1975 around 8k...... doubt she will do it......
Golden now 417th on Itunes... not sure why they have let it freefall.... should have reduced to 4.99 to attract sales.....
If she sold 2k of cassettes in UK then she must have done a big load globally again
With the previous two versions, she's sold over 5,800 cassettes of Golden in the UK
Really? i thought it was 4,800????
can she do another 2k next week not sure .... £5 price will help
2,847 reported for the original cassette as of July
887 sales of the original Collector's Edition
2,074 sales of the Christmas Collector's Edition so far
Perfect thanks Jay.....
do we know how many 1975 have sold? i am sure i saw around 7,800 on release week>?
Love how Golden is already this week the 7th biggest weekly total in the Golden campaign and still Weds & Thurs to add.... definitely be 6th and closing on 5th.
7,147 for The 1975 in their first week, but it's unknown how much they've done in week 2 and so far this week (I'd imagine not too many!). Sadly it's probably an insurmountable amount of Golden to overcome, unless those £5 cassettes on pre-order are doing well?
Oh Jay i think she can do it!
thats only 1.3-1.4k to sell and at £5 i think many will a bought another copy just to not even touch lol, then some will buy to place on ebay lol and some who couldnt get first time will get ...... fingers crossed....
Golden up from 417 to 125 on UK itunes so a couple of extra sales there.....
Kylie Christmas up to Itunes 76! £4.99 price going down a treat.
Golden, looks safe to manage 4k at the least this week.
If it can stay top 50 it would be wonderful
needs to sell more than the 211 it did today. lacking promo and radio support now..... the cassette has held it up this week and probably next...
Alot more than 211 is needed per day to keep it top 50.
Maybe i am safer to hope it stays Top 75.
Yes i am hoping for a top 75. hopefully around the 55-65 mark? lets see.
I think top 65 too.
#45 today, 3.7k sold.
That's good,she is holding steady.
Thats very good!
defo going to hit 4k and maybe around 4.3k
if i was BMG i would do a £20 cassette, CD and vinyl bundle haha
she may pick up a few 'Glasto' sales today and tomorrow also
Think it could help her out, yeah. Every source is reporting on it right now, it's such a big moment for her!
Must have been missing data yesterday...back on track for perhaps 4500 this week. Fingers crossed.
Fabulous she's confirmed for Glastonbury - so happy for her.
It may bring attention now that it is confirmed.
Needs 4,416 sales to be her 5th biggest week of sales in the campaign!!!!!
Will be close. probably just miss out but definately up to 6th
Either way it is a good result at this point of the campaign.
I'd love to go back to the chart thread on release week and laugh at the comments of the people that were looking forward to kylie's huge drop in week 2. 7 months later and golden is still on the chart having one of it's best sales weeks.
Yes many thought it would be a 1-25-49-73-98 type chart run. Then again kylie has proved her doubters wrong on many occasions now.
If someone can share a link here, it would be make for a rich Christmas comedy.
#47 today, 4.5k sold.
Already its 5th highest weekly sale and still one shopping day to go. I really hope it passes 5k!
Am i wrong in thinking maybe they added the £5 cassettes to this total already as 21st was only a 'estimated' release date?
seems an awful lot of sales 800 in one day after only selling 211 on Sunday? Maybe just people buying bundles very cheap from her website etc
As of tomorrow it looks like Golden will place at #30 in the YTD chart and with over 138,000 sales.
I think for the EOY chart, Olly Murs / Roy Orbison / Michael Buble Christmas will overtake her, but I'm not sure if any other albums are likely to.
A Top 30 finish is a good result for Kylie.
Initially, a Top 40 year end place i had hoped for, it it takes Top 30 it would be just wonderful.
Or did Glastonbury make people go buy it?
or was there some data missing?
who knows!
It will have been the effect of the Glastonbury news, as well as getting closer to Christmas.
it could be near 150,000 by year end!!!!!
Great to see some stronger sales....let's hope it's nothing to do with the £5 cassette so that next weeks sales are stronger too.
Wonder where SB is - must be in with a solid chance of top 75.
Santa Baby is suffering from ACR and also Youtube viewings this year.... plus even Itunes it never made it into the top 200 this year....... pity.
Christmas Isnt Christmas is the Kylie song that needs plugging next year.
Streaming numbers are not high enough sadly.......
Streaming has been against her since the start of the campaign,if it had picked up for her in addition to real sales she would have brilliant.
Some good Irish Album reviews

51 this week!
Santa Baby 84!!!
Merry Christmas To All Kylie Fans
In the grand picture it is a good result.
If it had stayed Top 50, just 1 place higher i would have preferred.
I look forward to hearing what the sales are.
Wonderful to once again see Kylie back in the singles chart.
51 Kylie Minogue 4,961 (2,440 Cassette sales)
WOW look at those cassette sales.......
do you think most of the £5 ones are included? Gone up a lot since the original update
The sales thread is saying the album is number 54.
Great sales, so close to 5,000.
Of five re-entries to the Top 75 this week, the most notable is Golden by Kylie Minogue. The album, which topped the chart on debut in April, surges 79-51, with 2,440 of its total 4,961 sales coming from the newly-released silver glitter cassette version, which also has a cardboard sleeve that doubles as a gift-wrapper.
It was a good strategy releasing another cassette and has really boosted sales. I’m guessing it’s sold about 138k in total now?
Great sales! Almost 50% of that being cassettes though. *.*
Taking into account the reported sales for the previous two cassettes, she's sold at least 6,174 cassettes. Hopefully we'll find out this coming week how the re-release of the original cassette does. It's still over 1,000 copies behind The 1975.

This is its 24th week in the Top 75, 27th in the Top 100 and 37th in the Top 200.
Great sales The power of the cassette though! TBH if BMG don’t get the title for biggest cassette of the year it serves them right for making each of them so limited! They could have got it with ease if the first ones weren’t limited.
Lets hope some cassettes sell again this week and the Cd too.
Some good sales are to be had this weekend and Monday and it would be wonderful if Kylie can get some of them.
Near but so far for top 50,those sales are good though.
That troll monster in the chart forum who bangs on about how she wouldn't have these sales without cassettes. 6,000 out of 138k, what a tosspot.
BMG have several of their albums featured in the iTunes Promo ‘#1 albums for £5.99’ (Prodigy, Rick Astley etc.,) - Kylie isn’t featured though but I guess they have to promote their other acts though
Hard to call how the album will do this week, hopefully will stay top 100.
Let's see if they drop prices again? Cd and iTunes to 3.99?
I think they have more than enough Hopefully golden can hang on and not get completely lost in the mania.
Usually let's me order 99 cassettes at a time but when I just tried it said not enough stock and reduced to 95......
So looks definitely like the £5 cassettes where included in last week's sales.......
Golden drops to 100th in this week's midweek charts.
Oh that's lower than I hoped.
Well its dropped off iTunes. No promo, no sales from Amazon hardly, probably lots of sales already started on other albums etc. Cassette sales added to last weeks sales instead no doubt
I still wonder if we will get a proper album reissue next year. BMG originally stated the album would be an 18 month campaign so I wonder whether they will issue a reissue around the first anniversary with new material. Maybe wishful thinking!
Well surely we will get a DVD at some point.
Wonder if we will see a Golden/Greatest Hits combo
Or a Greatest Hits + Golden Tour Bonus?
I’m surprised the reissue if there is one wasn’t around the Christmas market like a late November release as it would’ve been really big for sales and her fan base would’ve been out in force to get it.
Palomas re release has done fairly well extra weeks top 40 and consistent sales (she’s the first I thought of who’d re-released and was more of an albums artist) and I imagine Kylies would’ve been bigger I’ve definitely seen her across TV more anyways though. Kylie would’ve probably sold a lot more in the debut re release week as she has Stans and a hardcore fanbase then dropped and remained consistent from week 3 I’d have guessed.
Regardless though, this feels like Kylies biggest era since like 2003 for me. I Sales are obviously far lower now but she’s been everywhere this era in the UK amazing promo and the album itself is what it is a great pop album.
Hmmm, I'd probably say X feels like a bigger era overall to me.
I feel Golden was bigger than X as after her last couple of albums i didn't expect Golden to do aswell as it did. With X i thought it would have been much bigger in terms of sales as it was her comeback after her cancer diagnosis.
Anyone has any midweek updates?
Was 100 on Monday and will probably drop rapidly during the week as in no sales etc.
Shame it's in for at least a 50 place drop id have loved it to stay top 100 so she would be on the first chart of 2019 but least she will appear on the singles chart.
I had feared the album would get lost this week and it seems its what has happened.
Golden has dropped out of the T100 this week according to Say Hey. Don’t know the exact position!
Its disappointing but not a surprise
It’s at 93 (down from 44) on the sales only album chart...so at least it still sold something reasonable.
I definitely think the £5 cassettes got added into the previous weeks total as they shipped them early. But as has been said before I don’t care if Golden never troubles the charts again - it’s exceeded all expectations tbh.
Good to see Golden back up to 109th on iTunes today. Was down in the 400 hundreds so collected a few more sales.
Kylie Minogue Reel Stories on BBC at 6.15pm today. Pity it's only 25 mins long and not on BBC1
Hopefully its a small sign that physical sales may be up to but i really dont see it back in the charts this week.
No definitely won't be back in charts , probably ever until Glastonbury maybe.
Can't see her doing any more Golden promo now unless she releases a DVD
Would have been nice if they’d highlighted the savings on her official site and it had joined the HMV sale but as I’ve said before rather fitting its exited the charts at the end of 2018 after an epic year so not bothered if it never troubles the charts again (Although I have a feeling it will benefit from Glastonbury).
Would like us to kind of put 'country' Kylie aside now and concentrate on the Greatest Hits Package which will no doubt come!
^^ This, I know other acts have benefitted from a GH being released around Glastonbury but not sure a huge demand is there for essentially a dead concept now that streaming playlists can easily be created.
Even with a few bonuses a new GH would offer us nothing we haven’t already had with Greatest Hits, Hits +, Greatest Hits 87-92, Ultimate Kylie & The Best Of!
There's no Kylie GH that are currently physically produced though. May as well release a new definitive one to capitalise on the summer shows.
I'd love a new greatest hits and for them to really cover all the eras, I still think it could do well for her even though greatest hits releases are in decline.
If this GH wants to do anything that troubles the chart, it needs to be comprehensive and include a couple of new songs.
Golden fell to #130 🤭
It ends the year as the 33rd best selling album!
There is no way NO WAY we will not get a either a release in time for Glastonbury or before.... It would be suicidal for a record company and artist not to capitalise... So new era or new greatest hits ?
Golden is #148 in today's update.
Golden managed 33 on the end of year chart for 2018 albums. Brilliant result for Kylie in age of downloads and streaming this is fabulous.
That's her highest end of year position since Fever when it placed #15 in 2002 (was #10 in 2001). Kiss Me Once only made it to #93 in 2014.
In 2010, #33 on the Year End Chart sold over 330k. In 2014, it sold over 180k.
I wonder how many more weeks Golden will manage before having a week outside of the Top 200? Glad that it's set to hold on this week! It'll be its 39th week in the chart.
KMO has had plenty of time to build sales which it hasn't managed.
It is a forgotten Kylie album.
It managed 86,000 as of early 2018, not amazing but hardly horrendous... and the fact it made the Top 100 best selling albums of 2014 is nothing to sniff at either.
And for a supposedly forgotten album, a lot of you are quick to remember it when the opportunity arises to be disparaging x
That's great for the position and for it still to be selling 1000 plus almost 8 months after release and also no promo.
Has Golden passed 140K?
i keep forgetting Golden is in Australia in March so that is where the 18 month campaign finishes
Good list of year end chart details thanks Liam.
Relative to the market Golden has done at least as well as Aphrodite....X seems a bit bigger than both, it was released at a competitive time but hung around fairly well. BL was released when sales were higher but didn’t have as much longevity, I’d put it’s relative success below Golden and Aphrodite. LY initially was a solid comeback but because of her Fever resurgence managed to sell well for two years (loads of catalogue albums started to be properly reduced in price in the early 2000s, it was when sales generally started to shrink due to file sharing) so it’s probably on a par with Golden and Aphrodite.
I was chatting to a mate the other day in his mid 20s....he’s never bought a physical record and couldn’t believe it when I told him standard CDs were mostly £12.99 plus until 1999 (recall Boots started selling new release CDs for £9.99, supermarkets quickly took this on).
End of week chart. Thanks Stewie via Sayhey...could this be Golden’s last week?

It'll be sad to see Golden leave the chart as it's been fun following its success but, considering the era is over, as far as the UK is concerned, I can't really complain. I'm sure it'll make a return come the summer shows anyway. 140k sales and chart longevity that is up there with the likes of Body Language, X and Aphrodite is really pleasing.
The sales are great for that position as in many other weeks that would be enough for top 100. I will also miss following it in the charts each week as I looked forward to knowing its position each werk but it has done great and it will finish on at least 150,000 sales.

From a purely commercial point of view it's a real shame there was no new TV promo during December. MTSWY was being received well and they could have capitalised on it plus plug Dancing , SMFF. Not saying she would have sold anywhere near as well as George Ezra who really plugged his album, but because it had been well received all year he really reaped the rewards with massive sales and outsold loads of the Q4 big albums.
Kylie must have been in need of a rest though due to the bout of illness that caused her to pull out of the Magic concert. Once she performed those two Irish dates she decided to call it quits for the year. Her social media went much quieter.
So I hope she is well recovered somewhere....I recently saw a picture of her on twitter posted by a fan, in an airport in Perth Australia...
Well I guess that’s it now for promotion of the album so it’s unlikely to re-enter the charts and sales are likely to free fall!
Golden was the 31st best selling vinyl album last year. You can see the full list here: https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/the-official-top-40-biggest-vinyl-albums-and-singles-of-2018__22467/
Great EOY result and sales for last week
Kylie Minogue was also a big seller on the vintage platform, shifting an impressive 6,262 tapes of her Number 1 album Golden. Following it's initial release, Kylie also released a Collector's Edition and a Winter Collector's Edition.
From the OCC.
Where did it place on the year end cassette chart?
Kylie was 2nd after the 1973 in the cassette chart.
A slight pity that The 1975 outdid her (based on their first week sales alone!). BMG’s own fault really considering they made the first two versions limited editions.
Actually, did Kylie outsell The 1975 in the first week? That's one thing I wouldn't have predicted at the start of last year.

Here's hoping it can hold on!
A rather precarious position given that streaming won't go in her favour... but hopefully it'll hold on for what would be its 40th week in the chart!
Hopefully it can hold on for its 40th week.
Kylie is still very much able to sell physicals and the same would apply to singles.
Golden appears to be out of the Top 200 today.
Likely to stay that way for now at the least.
All said and done Golden has achieved a pretty great chart run - the album really exceeded my expectations! 9 months in the charts.
Guessing it's gone?
Sadly yes! Farewell, Golden. 👋
A 40th consecutive week would have been nice but it has done so well.
She could have released those 5 pound tapes this week and got a top 40 album lol
Ya as sales right now are low and will be for a few weeks.
They need to just clear out all the remaining stock now - the reductions on her website are not even highlighted as being on offer and they seemingly still have plenty of copies of the Christmas edition of the tape, can’t see there being much demand for those at full price in January
Ya a clearout would be good and sell through on them and give it a small sales boost to.
I am slightly missing the chart update on Golden's chart position that we would find out around this time of the week.
I enjoyed those 7 months when it had a chart placing.
The £5 cassette of ‘Golden’ has disappeared from her official store so hopefully a few more sales to be added this week.
Not checked this out yet but their other reviews have been great, really insightful and gives a balanced view of the albums.
That's really interesting. I wonder if quite a few songs on the album were incepted with that sort of feel before they became the jingly-jangly bops we now know?
Pretty sure everyone has this But Amazon have reduced the super deluxe vinyl of ‘Golden’ to £19.77 (Think it was about £50 when it was originally released
)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Golden-Super-Deluxe-Kylie-Minogue/dp/B0793NBH68/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=kylie+golden&qid=1561554410&s=gateway&sr=8-2
Yeah I think it was about £50 originally too - I bought it when it was like half price and I'm sure I bought it for just over £20. Definitely worth getting for that price!
^^ Same, I picked it up for about £25 from her website I think, great item!
Golden was a very special Kylie era.
It was her best handled release for a few years.
If the same effort went into X and Aphrodite i really believe these 2 eras could have achieved even greater success than they achieved.
That said, Kylie Christmas, was handled very well, a Top 10 place would have been nice when we look at the sales it achieved.
Kiss Me Once sold almost half of Kylie Christmas and has a much more impressive peak despite very poor sales.
Bmg and kylie really got behind golden and kylie really believed in the release unlike kiss me once which made a massive difference.
Golden is the third best selling cassette since 2010! Shifted 6.3k cassettes.
https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/the-cassette-comeback-continues-sales-are-at-their-highest-in-15-years__26958/:
Great result for golden, the same interest just wasnt there for the sbit cassette but golden captured the novelty factor.
I can't find the exact opening cassette total for Golden but I think Step Back in Time opened with a similar amount.
The follow ups slowed down with SBIT but Golden did have the Christmas re-release which boosted sales.
The cd3 addition would be the ideal addition/release to boost SBIT.
Thanks! Step Back in Time managed 2,047 so that's not really a big difference and I feel the Golden cassette was more of an appealing buy.
If they reduce the price it will prob help sell more.
The cassette will naturally sell over the next few week althoughbeit in low numbers.
I think its highly unlikely any re issues of the cassette will get released the way Golden did.
Was streaming this today - I overplayed it SO much when it was released that I needed a break from it but listening to it makes me realise how much I love the entire album, definitely one of her best - really can’t wait to see how she will follow this up, she nailed the ‘adult pop’ perfectly with it so hopefully that’s how she will continue.
Ya it's hard to see what direction her next album will take.
I don't think Kylie will change too far away from the sound of Golden.
This sound suited Kylie, it worked, and both Kylie and the fans enjoyed it.
I expect it to be different, she doesn't really tend to repeat the same thing twice.
I'm hoping for a pop/dance/trance style for the next album.
I don't really know where Kylie will go sound-wise but I'm excited for it. These summer shows, particularly Glastonbury, have really reminded the public what they love about Kylie's music and Kylie must be riding high on their energy and love, so I'm expecting her next album to be a triumph. I suspect she'll want to capture that breezy feel good pop sound that makes Spinning, Head, Sight, Wow and now Dancing such successes.
Good pop is where kylie succeeds bezt just like you mentioned and hopefully she go on that route.
Upbeat and fun and strong pop elements and Kylie wont go wrong.
The original, pre-country demo of 'One Last Kiss' that got uploaded a few months back was quickly removed, but it's been remixed on SoundCloud in a similar style:
Love!
The Christmas version of the Golden cassette has been reduced to £5: https://kylie.tmstor.es/cart/product.php?id=41075
Love that she celebrated the 2nd anniversary - you can tell Kylie is proud of the album and era.
Great that Kylie acknowledged the 2 year anniversary as she never does that with her albums.
Just came up on my memories today that 2 years ago when I was living in NY for the US ‘Golden’ campaign - such a great time although it feels like longer than 2 years ago! Was lucky enough to see and meet Kylie a few times and then it was only a few months later that she returned for her show at the ICONIC Bowery Ballroom - one of the best and most intimate shows I’ve ever been too where we were treated to ‘New York City’ being premiered twice. Great memories
I'm always jealous of people who met her, have you any real life photos of her?
Yes lots - I’ve been lucky enough to meet her over the years at signings, radio/tv studios, concert venues etc.,
You lucky b***a*d I'd love to meet her, I think getting to the top row of a concert was the closest il get. I'm sure she was lovely to meet.
She’s genuinely lovely - she always has time for a photo, quick chat and autograph.

Golden is a solid album overall, I prefer aphrodite to it overall and a few other albums but golden saw the return of a fresh and energised Kylie.
Aphrodite I largely prefer as an album to Golden.
This doesn't detract from Golden as I enjoy the album.
As time moves on I listen to Golden album tracks that bit less which did not happen with some Aphrodite album tracks.
When listening to both albums in full Aphrodite is so much stronger for me, Aphrodite did fall down on not having the songs that were screaming to be singles, all the lovers was so hard to follow as its just an amazing track that suited kylie so well. Golden did have songs screaming out to be singles when i first heard the album Stop me from falling and musics too sad with you were shouting single for me. Cupid boy and better than today i did think of for singles when i first heard Aphrodite but it was harder to predict the singles that would come from the album, the singles were easier to predict on Golden.
Golden did offer more songs that stood out as good choices for singles.
That said, Closer and Cupid Boy did stand out to be selected as singles when the album was released.
Its hard to know whether any of these would have done any better than get outta my way, i would like to think they might of as i wasnt a fan of get outta my way for second single.
I really don't see how either of those would have done better.
Either is likely to have outperformed Better Than Today had they made the selection for the 3rd single to represent Aphrodite.
Parlophone struggled immensely with the singles market at that point.
They had a very outdated approach which Kylie acknowledged.
Kylie badly messed up that answer on X Factor when talking to Dermot about the availability of Better Than Today.
Aphrodite discussion in the Golden thread
To bring it back to Golden... Joseph, Bal and myself are listening to it at the same time
I hope you are listening to Golden via streaming.
Golden is not a firm favourite of mine either but I do rate the album positively.
I am guilty of listening to the cd at times instead of given it the extra streams.
Golden doesn't have a song that ever makes me question why it was selected for the album.
It's been great revisiting the album, has been a while since I last played it! Lost Without You is a true GEM though, it really should've been the standard album closing track. It fits really well after Music's Too Sad actually, and lifts the mood back up for a gorgeous close! Shame it's only on the deluxe - it's single material imo
It would have matched alongside MTSWY.
Def not a single choice for me, it prob should be on the standard edition of the album but i never saw it good enough for a single.
Lost Without You is nowhere near strong enough to have been a single.
It' is not a terrible song by any stretch, it is a very B side song.
I know you guys don't like it but it's seen as a huge highlight by most of the fanbase, it would have been good to capitalise on that and I think it would have got some fans that weren't keen on the country direction back on board with the era.
I really couldn't see it even getting the limited success MTSWY did. It would have done better than a lifetime to repair if got that slot on x factor to be fair.
There is a strong possibility Kylie would have performed a better version of Lost Without You.
The studio versions of each song places A Lifetime To Repair a stronger song.
Lost Without You passes over aplenty when listening to the album.
It has yet to stir anything within me when I hear the song.
I should be clear, there is no big dislike of the song, it is a competitive album for good songs.
That said, if Lost Without You had appeared on Kiss Me Once, I would classify it as an album highlight.
It was THE highlight of the tour. The vocal was epic, the feeling was euphoric and those lasers.
Plus the emotion in the song... I really think she wrote it about feeling unhappy towards the end of her relationship with Joshua. If you listen to the song, you can almost feel her desperation to escape from him and find the light on the other side. It reveals a rarely seen really vulnerable side of her.
Its def a song of meaning to kylie, she speaks passionately about the song plus she dudnt fight for the sing for no reason.
In some ways the album has 3 sounds, pop, country and ballads but they mix well. Dancing, stop me from falling and a lifetime to repair are uplifting pop, lost without you and music's too sad with you cover the ballads, the others have a bit of pop and country together will less of a hint of pop.
I feel like 'Sincerely Yours' as a ballad is completely different from the aesthetic of the album but somehow fits and is essential.
Overall all the songs fit well together on the album which is great as it gives the album a real complete sound to it.
I will also say though, even if you don't appreciate the song or get it - for any Kylie fan to say 'Lost Without You' instills nothing in them is to me quite astonishing, considering how much of herself she bares in that song with such raw intensity.
Flower instills much more emotion when I listen to the song.
Lost Without You as I have reiterated is not a bad song.
Golden houses stronger songs that I rate above it.
This album to me is one of her best and I still listen to it now, I would say there are only 1 or 2 ok songs but I still listen to them, the rest I love, this album for me is Top 3 for me
Two years on from release, Golden is remaining highly popular with fans.
It is welcoming that it wasn't just popular as it was new, its popularity was quality based.
Its def an album that i still enjoy a good few of the songs, I think an album needs nearly a year before you can decide where it really ranks among other albums. Sometimes albums can be instant and then after a while get tiresome and other albums like impossible princess take time to get into it. Golden is lucky that it has a few songs that I think fans will always rate highly.
I think ‘Golden’ will always be looked back on as a good era for Kylie after the dire end to her Parlophone years.
‘Golden’ returned her to chart glory and led the way to Glastonbury etc.,
Golden had some instantly likeable songs that remain great.
It also housed songs that required time to embrace which provides the album with a good balance.
Golden is also surrounded by so many glorious Kylie moments which places the album very positively with fans
While golden isnt my fave album or in my top 5 but i like it alot but it was a great campaign by kylie and so much happened throughout the campaign that will always make it memorable. It was a really exciting and I enjoyed it all. The x factor performance of a lifetime to repair is the only thing that really disappointed me
Golden brought a resurgence for Kylie.
The era was uplifting and showcased an energized Kylie who was enjoying a new found popularity that was absent for a while.
Amazon have reduced the ‘Golden’ CD to £2.49 - as it’s being sold by Amazon rather than a 3rd party seller it also comes with an MP3 version, hopefully it will encourage some extra sales
If step back in time was on that deal for a week it would be back in tge charts,,still it might help golden shift another few copies.
Moved up to #273 on the overall Amazon charts - snatch those extra sales
The cassettes should go on clearout now to get both formats selling at the same time.
Tgat should have happened with the cassettes ages ago.
Climbed to #88 on the overall Amazon chart and #43 on the pop chart
Great review as always Sam!
That's a great jump on the amazing chart, I wonder how many sales roughly would it be.
Ya this will hekp bring clearly over the 150k
It would be a joy for Golden to stick its head in the door of the charts for one more week.
Well as it’s shifted a few physicals this week be sure to stream ‘Golden’ a couple of times
I think it would need to be a lot higher on the amazon chart and stay high for a few days to even be in with a chance of making it to the chart next week.
Ya if there was more available it would have sold, a price reduction on SBIT is needed soon.
It should have happened by now.
It is missing out on sales due to price.
it prob reached their goals but there is no harm in smashing it further either
BMG really go for it in the early stages and then get lazy when it dies down,
easily they would sell, if they dont do something soon with them they will just get binned.
With the current market situation a price move with Step Back In Time would draw more sales than the reduction on Golden.
I'm still surprised they havnt reduced it.
Streaming this ahead of ‘DISCO’ - I love that as always Kylie attempts to evolve and is going to deliver us a very different album to the amazing ‘Golden’
Disco will be very different from Golden.
That said, I think fand will rate them both equally.
From SayHey - nice to see DISCO ahead at the same stage even mid lockdown!

Hey that’s my work!!
Not blaming you, just I bet they didn’t credit me for typing it up in the first place. They did it on UKMIX too.
Sue them x
I've now listened to this along with Aphrodite and Light Years in my gradual Kylie listen through. Dancing, Raining Glitter (I figured with a title like that it had to be a gay anthem ) and Lost Without You (AFSC x) were the only songs I knew. I'd say it's probably my least favourite of the 4 Kylie Albums I've heard, just because a few tracks blended into one but everything was good apart from Radio On, Low Blow and I found Music's Too Sad Without You a bit of a drag oops. Particularly stanned for Golden, Sincerely Yours, One Last Kiss, Shelby '68 and Every Little Part Of Me (my fave
)
Some great highlights there! Not another ‘Music’s Too Sad...’ hater tho. Did Jay put you up to this?
Disco is the first kylie album in a while without a slow number and mist of the time I enjoy the slow song that gets added in such as mysics too sad, fragile, bittersweet goodbye etc.
GOLDEN IS NO.36 All because it got a mention on The One Show
Number 36 on which chart?
Good stuff, thats at least another 10 sales but great to see it getting a few extra sales.
Kylie highlighted 'Lost Without You' as an album track she wished was a single. Taste.
I know kylie loved the song and you would think she would have had more say to have had it as a single.
Been streaming this tonight (I’ve been playing Disco non stop since this morning )
It really is such an incredible album - sublime, it’s also astounding that Kylie can jump from Golden to Disco and pull it off.
Lots of Golden/SBIT items reduced on the Kylie website now
^^ I think they overproduced on Golden & Disco hence why there are picture discs and cassettes left years later, they really are fan only items and quite a hard sell to the general public.
They have waited far too long to reduce some of the items too but hopefully they will pick up a few sales.
Golden is 3
Still WAY up there for me as Kylie’s best output - such a great album.
Golden remains highly enjoyable but Disco is the better of the 2 albums.
I prefer disco to golden too!
Great album is Golden it falls in or around the middle of her albums for me but I would prefer Disco aswell. At the moment I'd probably rate Disco as 6th and Golden 7th among her studio albums.
Golden is a joy to listen to but Disco propelles Kylie to another level.
Five years since Golden was released!
I do like Golden, strong album with plenty of songs i like but i do prefer Disco as i go back to more of the songs from that album. With Golden, Dancing, Musics too sad without you and Stop me from Falling are the 3 i listen to the most and stop me from falling has really connected me more so now than when it was released.
It is a strong comeback album for her, setting off a great partnership with BMG.
Gosh, 5 years!
I remember the day it was released very well, we were on some away training day with work. It was gruelling and mind-numbingly boring, but made worth it by going out to buy this at the end of the day!
Golden was a great era. Plenty of stuff happening at the time and it was a well handled campaign.
I believe this is one of her very best albums! The whole rollout was excellent, the quality of songs and cohesiveness were on top, and I think Kylie herself grew a lot as an artist making this album.
Kylie definitely grew as an artist and I think she had great passion in the album which you could see in all the performances.
My 5 year rate - such a solid album

Was actually playing the album in full over the weekend so my rate is is based on that,
Going through the sales I totally forgot that ‘Golden’ shifted nearly 50k on release (48,032).
Such a massive figure coming off of the back of parting ways with Parlophone and declining album sales. BMG really is the right home for Kylie
Ah what a tour that was! 5 long years ago though
Six years since Golden
What an era, restoring Kylie back at the top of the charts as well as providing a long overdue Top 40 single and an epic tour.
Still one of my favourite Kylie albums - no skips on it for me.
6 years! I played the album so much in the year of release, but I haven't gone back to it for a while. Maybe I should revisit it for its anniversary.
I will always appreciate the era for being a rejuvenation of sorts; public perception seemed more positive than it had done for a while, and it felt like she was starting to be treated as an actual legend?
Her first release with BMG and the start of the multi-formatting / major dents in our bank accounts. I kind of regard the Golden cassettes as being one of the earliest examples of the format being revived and selling well? I wish them being a £5 cute throwback gimmick had remained the case in the years since. Record labels became greedy with them. Just look at Dua's latest album having a cassette for £15 and it's only a card sleeve!
I went to the tour, one of my favourite concert experiences and I was close to the catwalk, it felt " " to see her so close (and have a concept of how short she actually is
). Who'd have thought during the Golden tour that she'd not have had a follow up arena tour 6 years later...
I think with the passage of time, Golden is actually a more solid album than Disco.
Bizarrely listed to my picture disc vinyl this morning and then later Kylie posted the 6 year anniversary!
I think Disco is much better however I love that she co wrote everything on Golden and I think it was an very important record for her career wise.
The era itself revitalised her career and I think it was the first time in a few years we really saw kylie fully invested in an album and I think kylie came across so alive and invigurated in all the performances, it's an era I really enjoyed and i still like the album a lot but musically I prefer disco.
Golden has aged well I agree and for me stop me from falling is better now than back when it was released.
Loved the incredible chart run the album had aswell.
I really do like Stop Me From Falling but I can never not hear the glitch in "And now I can't get over one kiss" (the glitch happens on the word kiss). I dislike technical flaws like that in songs
Golden was the first step showcasing Kylie and BMG together was a great combination.
I have to say I'm enjoying what they have done together as the 3 studio albums with bmg have been great and bmg have shown a real belief in kylie which kicked off with golden.
Kylie certainly lacked enthusiasm during Kiss Me Once but there may have been more going in than we know of.
Possibly, i think it was a time when Kylie was going through alot of changes, management, label etc and i dont think she was overall happy with how it was panning out which is probably why she distances herself from it.
