BuzzJack Music Forum _ Kylie and Dannii Minogue _ Would you want Madonna & Kylie to release a single?

After all these years, Madonna and Kylie finally united on stage during Madonna's Celebration Tour where they sang 'Can't Get Yout Out of My Head' and 'I Will Survive'.

It's an interaction that fans have wanted for years, but would you want them to go one step further and record a single together? Or is it enough satisfaction just having them share the stage together? What is the ideal style of music you would want from a Madonna/Kylie collab?

I wouldn't mind seeing what it would be like out of curiosity, but I'm not exactly dying for it to happen.

I think I would have been more excited about the prospect in the late 2000s, I think I'm more than satisfied with just seeing them together.

I still want a collaboration with Sophie Ellis-Bextor in this lifetime though, that's the one I want more than anything!

Yeah I’d be intrigued to see what it was like. I do feel they are very different artists though Madonna is much more provocative than Kylie, she is far more subtle.

Posted by: McAndrew 9th March 2024, 06:46 PM

I’d love to see a dance banger with a slight gothic edge.

Something that feels relevant to Padam but less Euro-pop. A touch more sultry perhaps … kind of like Closer from Aphrodite.

100% no.

Would/could have been iconic 15-20 years ago but wouldn’t be here for it now.

Posted by: vibe 9th March 2024, 07:27 PM

Yes - why the hell not

However i would love a dance banger with Dannii more!

Posted by: No Sleeep 9th March 2024, 07:29 PM

Why would anybody possibly say no? I love them both, it would be an iconic moment

There are lots of massive artists I wouldn’t particularly want Kylie to duet with - Madonna being one of them.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 9th March 2024, 08:54 PM

They both have nothing to lose. It would do well.as long as it was dance orientated and had a video budget and physicals

Posted by: pippa 9th March 2024, 11:24 PM

Not sure of this with a slight leaning to no but would accept if it happened.

Posted by: Nick Jonas 10th March 2024, 12:24 AM

No, it’d be a massive flop.

Posted by: Roba. 10th March 2024, 01:16 AM

As much as I would've loved them both to have released a song. It really would've been better 15-20 years ago so voted no

Posted by: McAndrew 10th March 2024, 01:29 AM

I wouldn't give two hoots if a hypothetical collab flopped.

Some would say Kiss of Life flopped. But I’m so glad that exists!

In my opinion, 90% of the public have terrible taste and the charts are full of tripe anyway.

Exactly I don’t know what hypothetical success has to do with it! I couldn’t give a flying **** what the GP thinks when they’re happy to let trash like Old Town Road go to #1! I suspect some Kylie fans are just being catty about Madonna’s recent output rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Padamic Tension 10th March 2024, 02:52 AM

No for me I think this moment they have had is probably the right way and lovely for fans of both.

Posted by: -Jay- 10th March 2024, 03:05 AM

I mean if it happened then of course I’d be curious about it and hopefully love what they come up with. But it’s not something I greatly desire to happen at this point. I think them performing on stage together has really scratched my “Madonna & Kylie together?” curiosity itch and was an incredible moment. So on balance, I’m voting no.

Posted by: pippa 10th March 2024, 03:54 PM

Back in early to mid 00's I think this poll would have a hugely different result.

Posted by: labeh 10th March 2024, 04:03 PM

While curiosity sparks a mild intrigue within me to potentially experience such a circumstance, it is not an overwhelming urge that plagues my mind.

Posted by: pippa 10th March 2024, 04:10 PM

It would be a masterpiece of pop or a complete disappointment if it happened.

I voted no. I haven’t liked much of Madonna’s recent work but Kylie has been far better. I can’t see what Madonna would bring tbh. She’s well and truly had her day and would be better retiring than continuing to churn out rubbish.

Posted by: vibe 10th March 2024, 09:33 PM

Surprised by the response considering people were wetting themselves with the Sia collaboration (even after hearing the song).

Posted by: Sacred3 10th March 2024, 09:45 PM

00's would have been the time to do it when music was at an all time high + both were killing it music-wise. Now, I think the sound would be awful and forgettable.

Leaning on the harsh side and that's considering the song doesn't even exist

Well it’s the absolute worst I can think of laugh.gif there’s also Jack Harlow for a more recent example

Posted by: -Jay- 11th March 2024, 06:16 AM

I agree that the 2000s would have been the ideal time for a collaboration. Both were such strong physical sellers that they really couldn’t have missed. Even if the song wasn’t that well received, it would have absolutely been a hit regardless.

Having said that, I’m not sure exactly when in the 2000s though. thinking.gif From a music point of view, 2005/6 Confessions Madonna in particular could have worked magic with Kylie, but obviously that couldn’t have worked with Kylie’s personal circumstances. cry.gif I feel like American Life & Hard Candy era Madonna wouldn’t have been a good fit with Kylie. thinking.gif (Plus Madonna had already done the high profile collaboration thing with Britney and then Justin).

I voted a categorical NO..... I'd hate it. They're such different performers, and after K's forgettable collab with Sia, I don't think she's worthy, sorry!

Sam Smith and Madonna...

I think Kylie is more than worthy to duet with Madonna. I don't think this conversation is about who is worthy for what hun but thank you anyway.

Surely that's more on Sia than it is Kylie!

I voted no as well. I would’ve voted yes had this poll been in 2002.

Me too hun

They are just in 2 different places now and I think because fans have wanted it for so long it will just be a disappointment because expectations will be so high.

I really enjoy them getting on stage together though hun, that was enough to satisfy my curiosity.

Just Carol Honey ♥️

This - in bold.

M's last album - madame M was truly awful. Whilst I appreciate that M wants to try out diff genres and lecture all of us on political issues, I don't think it goes with K's personality and style of music. Kylie has found her beat in the emotopop and solid pop tunes. They just won't mix well together and as much as we all say "ooih chart positions don't count", blah blah....there will be sky high expectations for everything from chart positions, sales, streaming #s, etc. etc. and it will be a disappointment. I don't even want to get into the chaos the video itself would present as they both are diff visual storytellers as well.

I’m not the biggest fan of Madonna’s recent work myself. But I would welcome the boost in exposure for Kylie, especially right now.

But I’m assuming that, in this dreamland, Kylie would have significant creative input, use world-class producers, and the song would be good.

Posted by: Padamic Tension 11th March 2024, 08:56 PM

I havnt really enjoyed anything from Madonna for years now but overall i would only ever have been a very casual fan, every now and then she released songs that i really liked, for the songs i do like from her i really enjoy. I think its great that these 2 icons have finally shared a stage together regardless of whos a fan of who there is no denying its an iconic moment and from the American side of things it gives Kylie great exposure.
