I REALLY want the meet & greet package!!!

Posted by: Maz! 13th February 2023, 07:31 PM

Not too expensive, thinking about getting a ticket myself i reeally dont wanna miss out on a concert again.

Posted by: Slayer 13th February 2023, 07:38 PM

Eeek this is exciting!

I'm pretty sure i'll be getting the Meet & Greet!

I know my friends would want to go, but no way would they pay the same amount as me... I either see them twice (get a M&G for one show and go to another show sitting with friends) or I get a M&G and my friends sit elsewhere or I forfeit the M&G and sit with my friends...

I really want a M&G laugh.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 13th February 2023, 07:46 PM

I have a similar dilemma! Was hoping to go with my sister but she won't want to get M&G for that price drama.gif

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 13th February 2023, 08:03 PM

Ticket prices look decent. Would definitely go if I was in the UK.

Posted by: -Jay- 13th February 2023, 08:06 PM

I'm not yet sure if I'll be able to go cry.gif but fingers crossed!

Posted by: JosephStyles 13th February 2023, 08:28 PM

Just realised many of the dates are during my half term... I may be able to travel and do a M&G elsewhere and then attend with my sister in London!!

Posted by: Silas 13th February 2023, 08:31 PM

Tempted by Glasgow. Might see if any of my mates are keen

Interesting that it’s all seated with no standing

Come to Birmingham as that is where i'll likely do my M&G tongue.gif

I spoke to my friend and she really wants to go but is not sure if she'll go as she'll have a newborn baby by then, so we said we'd meet before with another friend if they decide to come closer to the time!

So i'm definitely getting a M&G for Birmingham w00t.gif

Posted by: spiceboy 13th February 2023, 09:17 PM

I am thinking of possibly going for Leeds since its my hometown anyway.

Full press release:

QUOTE
After months of speculation, S Club 7, one of the most successful British pop groups of all time, have today announced they are returning for a reunion tour in celebration of their 25-year legacy.

The S Club 7 Reunited tour will see all seven members – Bradley, Hannah, Jo, Jon, Paul, Rachel, and Tina – come together for an 11-date arena tour across the UK and Ireland. Speaking on coming back together, the band said: "After eight years it feels amazing to announce that we're reuniting and performing together again. We're so excited to bring the S Club Party back to our fans across the country to celebrate 25 years of S Club 7. We can't even believe it's been so long! Music and friendship have always been at the core of everything that we've ever done. We hope everyone can join us for one big party!!"

The 25th anniversary tour is an opportunity for S Club 7 fans of every generation to come together and re-experience the timeless pop hits that soundtracked the British charts for five years. Collectively, S Club 7 amassed four UK number one singles with ‘Bring It All Back’, ‘Never Had a Dream Come True’, ‘Don’t Stop Movin’, and ‘Have You Ever’, as well as the UK number one album ‘7’. They recorded 4 studio albums, released 11 singles that all entered the Top 5 UK charts, and went on to sell over 10 million albums worldwide.

The band’s celebrity status was also cemented with their TV shows; Miami 7 and L.A. 7 became record-breaking favourites on children’s TV and were watched by more than 90 million people in over 100 countries – L.A. 7 remains the highest rating programme of all time on CBBC.

With 4 multi-platinum selling albums, 2 BRIT Awards, and 9 number-one international hit singles to their name, S Club 7 are a household name that are once again ready to rise.

Posted by: JosephStyles 13th February 2023, 10:45 PM

With it being on a Saturday it seems my friend leans towards that over Nottingham or Birmingham! It would certainly make a change, I've never ever been to a concert in Sheffield before ohmy.gif

OMG Big Brovaz supporting I AM THERE!!!!

Posted by: Slayer 14th February 2023, 08:05 PM

Trying for Birmingham M&G in tomorrow's pre-sale! I'll be trying both the O2 pre-sale and the S Club one.

Posted by: JosephStyles 15th February 2023, 09:33 AM

Good luck to anyone getting ready for the presale! I'm in the virtual queue for the O2 date via O2 Priority and have the other presale link open already too.

Posted by: Slayer 15th February 2023, 10:11 AM

Block B wasn't showing up for me on the M&G package, it disappeared straight away! So i'm going to wait for general sale as I really want to meet them and don't really want to sit elsewhere.

M&G for Birmingham appears to be sold out on pre-sale.

Posted by: JosephStyles 15th February 2023, 10:19 AM

I got M&G for London!!!! It was unavailable on both presales at first but I kept refreshing and eventually it popped back up so I nabbed it immediately cheeseblock.png

OH MY GOD!!!

MEET AND GREET BOOKED FOR BIRMINGHAM w00t.gif

FIRST ROW IN BLOCK B (CENTRE)!!! AHHH such amazing seats!

Keep refreshing guys if you're trying!

Posted by: -Jay- 15th February 2023, 12:07 PM

I got mine too! cheer.gif

Happy you all got what you wanted *.*

Posted by: ThePensmith 15th February 2023, 12:21 PM

An extra date at The O2 has been added for Friday 27th October. Pre-sale has sold out!

Posted by: -Jay- 15th February 2023, 12:42 PM

Oooh excellent! I wonder if there'll be enough demand for them to add extra dates for other arenas too. In 2015 there was also 2 London dates, but everywhere else was just one date. At this point they've replicated the 12 dates they did in 2015.

2015:
Birmingham
Bournemouth
Cardiff
Glasgow
Leeds
Liverpool
London x2
Manchester
Newcastle
Nottingham
Sheffield

2023:
Birmingham
Cardiff
Dublin
Glasgow
Leeds
Liverpool
London x2
Manchester
Newcastle
Nottingham
Sheffield

Only difference so far is them doing Dublin this time instead of Bournemouth!

Posted by: JosephStyles 15th February 2023, 12:49 PM

I wasn't sure how much demand there'd be for a second reunion tour but it's seriously great to see them playing the same number of dates, particularly two at the O2. Might have to go a second time! laugh.gif

Posted by: JLJ 15th February 2023, 01:05 PM

I’m a bit shocked at how many people on here and on socials are here for this especially with Jo being involved. laugh.gif

If she’d been part of a sustained homophobic bullying campaign would you all still wanna go?

Would’ve rather had a Rachel solo revival laugh.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 15th February 2023, 01:16 PM

I mean, it's not for me to forgive Jo for what happened on Celebrity Big Brother, and I entirely understand why people have a sour taste in their mouth when thinking about her, but it was a *long* time ago and she has apologised since then. Nostalgia is a big thing and the mistake of one person well over a decade ago isn't going to dampen the excitement of seeing the first pop group I ever loved. The hypothetical homophobic bullying comparison isn't really relevant because that isn't what's happened. Feel how you feel, I'd never want to silence or dampen that, but I think it's very easy to see why people are so excited to see the entire group and why many are quite happy to leave Jo's racism firmly in the past.

Posted by: spiceboy 15th February 2023, 01:30 PM

There will always be a taintedness to the group due to Jo's behaviour in Big Brother I agree, but there are 6 other members of the group whom have nothing to do with that, it's unfair to drag them down for that too.

I do understand your feelings though, it was despicable and shocking and it is no less so today.

I am going to wait for general sale on Friday since I want to try for better seats, fingers crossed.

Posted by: JLJ 15th February 2023, 01:38 PM

I’m all for the other 6 members to do well for themselves it’s only Jo that makes me feel a bit sour about this laugh.gif

I can see that people obviously see them as being amongst their childhood icons and what not though but it’s definitely hard to see past Jo since it was a sustained incident that even got mentioned in parliament it was that bad it’s not a case of a single tweet that happened when she was a teen since she was a grown adult at the time as well and the fact she showed no accountability aside from self pity too.

I’m not necessarily wanting to get into anything more though re this but for a site that’s all about inclusiveness it seems like people are very quick to forget.

Looks like they’ve done incredibly well with ticket sales today, some people have sadly been left disappointed by not being able to get tickets. This is such a difference to the 2015 tour which didn’t sell out. So happy for S Club 7 and I wonder if they’ll consider doing more dates due to the clear demand? ohmy.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 17th February 2023, 03:07 PM

Genuinely thought this reunion might be a harder sell than the last one, never have I been happier to be proved wrong! 00s nostalgia is clearly growing stronger and stronger.

Posted by: Slayer 17th February 2023, 05:30 PM

Just saw ticketmaster is now showing a front row ticket has been made available for Birmingham and some on 2nd & 4th incase anyone is looking - £154 for the don’t stop moving package! Amazing seats.

Posted by: spiceboy 17th February 2023, 05:50 PM

I missed out on tickets at the price bracket I was willing to spend (not willing to spend more than £80) for Leeds, hoping they announce another day as it is pretty much sold out.

Posted by: spiceboy 17th February 2023, 06:21 PM

Now they seem to have released more but can I book them? No! Every time I try to it says error and then I go back to try again and the tickets are going. I've had enough I give up, always have issues with ticketmaster now it hates me.

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 17th February 2023, 08:44 PM

Sorry to hear that Spiceboy. Hopefully your luck changes soon with the tickets.

Posted by: ThePensmith 18th February 2023, 06:17 PM

Whilst out in town this morning I heard Don't Stop Movin' twice playing on the radio - first in Greggs and then again while I was getting my hair done. It really is a classic, but also it was a lovely moment to hear it on the air again!

Posted by: JosephStyles 18th February 2023, 06:56 PM

There's definitely a buzz in the air for this tour! wub.gif

Posted by: Slayer 18th February 2023, 07:45 PM

100%, I was hearing people talk about it at work the other day too!

They’ve set up a mailing list:

Posted by: ThePensmith 19th February 2023, 07:25 AM

Ah yes I saw that - I've signed up.

I don't want to get my hopes up too high, but perhaps Simon's actually listening to what the fans are wanting this time?

The vinyl of Don't Stop Movin' is already more than what we got last time round.

I'm so pleased the classic logo is being used this time round as well. I always preferred it over the later one!

I guess they can get away with this claim due to them being formed in 1998. They started filming Miami 7 & recording the S Club album in late 1998. For the public the introduction was most definitely in 1999, but for S Club 7 the work began in 1998.

It’s not as bad as Take That doing a 30th anniversary tour in 2019 when they weren’t formed until 1990 and didn’t breakthrough until 1992, at least! kink.gif

I'm absolutely thrilled for them, this is officially a bigger/more successful tour than the 2015 tour. wub.gif Wow at a third O2 date, and cool that it's a matinee!

Posted by: Yobnedor 21st February 2023, 05:07 PM

Here's an update of the 2023 shows overall:

October 2023
Thursday 12th - Manchester AO Arena - NEW DATE
Friday 13th - Liverpool M&S Bank Arena
Saturday 14th - Sheffield Utilita Arena
Monday 16th - Dublin 3Arena
Wednesday 18th - Glasgow OVO Hydro
Thursday 19th - Newcastle Utilita Arena
Friday 20th - Leeds First Direct Arena
Saturday 21st - Manchester AO Arena
Monday 23rd - Cardiff International Arena
Tuesday 24th - Nottingham Motorpoint Arena
Thursday 26th - Birmingham Utilita Arena
Friday 27th - London The O2
Saturday 28th - London The O2 (Matinee) - NEW DATE
Saturday 28th - London The O2 (Evening)
Sunday 29th - Birmingham Utilita Arena - NEW DATE

I'm just noticing the 4 day stretch of concerts from 18th to 21st without breaks, but that's not quite as full on as 26th to 29th with 5 shows in 4 days! Their only days off in this run are 15th, 17th, 22nd, 25th.

Why when the dates are not until October?? They should be starting rehearsals now working on their vocals and blending etc. People are paying enough money put in the effort.

Posted by: -Jay- 21st February 2023, 10:26 PM

It's pretty standard practice to not begin rehearsals until much nearer the time of the tour. 4 or 5 weeks is quite a long time to dedicate to rehearsals. Some acts I've followed only set aside 2 weeks. They don't need to be doing it 7 - 8 months in advance!

Posted by: Slayer 21st February 2023, 10:32 PM

Agreed, 4-5 weeks seems pretty standard? I'm pretty sure Little Mix only had 4 weeks or so for the Confetti tour.

I was gonna say four weeks is pretty standard for most pop bands' tour rehearsals. JLS and Olly Murs usually have that long with their tours.

Finally got tickets, to the Saturday matinee performance at the O2 *.* Ain't no party like an S Club lunchtime party. Was worried I'd have to go up to Glasgow to see it as it was the only place with seats left for under £200 before this went on sale.

Pretty much right at the back, as I went for the cheapest option, I believe it will be anoter 'sell out in minutes' affair, can't believe the amount of goodwill they still have. I was worried the various sub sections touring as S Club 3/2/Allstars might have diluted the brand but it doesn't seem to be the case.

The appetitie for nostalgia and fun is high and I can see why at the moment.

Posted by: ThePensmith 24th February 2023, 11:02 AM

Aaah nice one 🙌

Same I just got the best Lower Tier seat that I could for the evening show at the O2 - Block 109 I think my seat is in? I'm quite fortunate that I'm 6 ft 3 so getting a view of the stage is not a problem for me. Just getting to see them at all is exciting for me!

I managed to get matinee tickets for London today after missing out due to demand last week, didn’t think they’d be as popular as they are proving to be.

My only concern is that I’m going to send to end up seeing Jo miming what with so many shows in a row which I’ll be disappointed with. I didn’t go to their last tour but I remember seeing videos and later on in the run she was clearly miming some of the big songs. Hope they get some good vocal coaches and look after themselves properly.

Happy for all of you that got tickets wub.gif

I held off buying tickets for another show today, thinking if I book tickets for another show i'll find a friend who will go as i'm already going once tongue.gif So it will be nice to go with someone the second time!

I might have got myself a ticket for the Matinee show at the O2. I'll sell my ticket for the evening show a bit nearer the time. I was transferring some of my savings across ready for JLS' pre-sale on Wednesday and I thought "why the hell not?" Saves me a hotel bill as well 😂

I must tell my friend who lives near there then - she loves a bit of S Club but she gave the first on sale a miss. I'd hate her to miss out!

Hannah’s thoughts on the tour, via The Sun:

QUOTE
While there have been no formal talks about the future of the reunion tour due to start this October, Hannah believes that it will go ahead in Paul’s honour.

She said: “We’ll speak to his family. He’d still need to be a big part of it whether that’s a big tribute at the beginning or the end. He will always be on stage with us.”

Posted by: JosephStyles 16th April 2023, 03:42 PM

Bradley's Instagram tribute to Paul also hinted that the tour could go on: "I know your not going to be with us on the next one in the physical but you’ll always be with us in our hearts and thoughts"

Can't imagine how they're feeling right now, must be such a difficult situation.

Posted by: JosephStyles 12th May 2023, 02:12 PM

The logo on the official website has been changed to just S Club, as has the name on their official Twitter and Instagram accounts (the handles remain @sclub7).

Guessing this is a sign of things going ahead, there wouldn't be any need to rename things otherwise I suppose.

Posted by: Slayer 12th May 2023, 02:15 PM

Ahh, I get it but it would have been nice to have kept the name ‘S Club 7’.

Posted by: JosephStyles 12th May 2023, 02:18 PM

Likewise, I suppose this has come from their discussions and how best to proceed. I guess it draws a bit less attention to the number of members on stage. I guess they may even be getting a new tour poster together using Seeing Double images instead of the '7' album cover?

Posted by: -Jay- 13th May 2023, 01:30 AM

Seeing "S Club" is so sad sad.gif

It's a delicate situation for sure... for them to be called "S Club 7" in future interviews etc could feel too painful for them, with the constant reminder that they're no longer 7. So I get it. cry.gif

Tour is being renamed The Good Times Tour, and Hannah won't be joining them. Entirely fair, especially with how close she was to Paul.

Posted by: ThePensmith 14th May 2023, 04:35 PM

Totally understandable that Hannah has backed out now.

I cannot imagine that getting their heads around all of this whilst also grieving their bandmate and brother can have been easy at all, but they've absolutely made the right call as best as possible. And renaming it the Good Times Tour 😢 Beautiful way to remember him.

I just really hope that they're kind to themselves through it all and take the time they need if it becomes too much.

Posted by: JosephStyles 14th May 2023, 05:54 PM

Can't get over how weird it feels to see just five of them there sad.gif

The name change makes sense even more too, S Club 7 with only five people would feel even stranger.

Posted by: -Jay- 14th May 2023, 06:53 PM

That video was a hard watch. This is a situation that is so incredibly sad. sad.gif

I totally understand and respect Hannah’s decision. I hope for the 5 remaining members that this will be a healing and positive endeavour. I’m still looking forward to seeing them, even though this is tinged with sadness. cry.gif

Posted by: Yobnedor 14th May 2023, 08:19 PM

I know I’m gonna get hate but at this point I think they should just postpone indefinitely. It’s clear from that video that they aren’t ready and I doubt they will be by October. I think Hannah made the right shout to be honest.

Posted by: JosephStyles 14th May 2023, 08:29 PM

I don't think it's for anyone but the band themselves to judge whether it's the right time or not. October's still five months away and perhaps honouring Paul with the tour he was so excited for is exactly what they want to be doing? I think all we can do is respect each member's individual choice and hope they're getting so much support from each other, management and their friends and family during a time that must be so hard. Full respect to Hannah for stepping away when she needed to, but also the same respect to the other five for ploughing on, it can't be easy.

Posted by: -Jay- 14th May 2023, 08:46 PM

My feelings - it's only been 5 weeks since Paul passed away, so with this being their first moment of talking about it on camera, it's certainly going to be raw, and their tearfulness is understandable. Not being ready right now doesn't mean that they won't be by October though.

In terms of bereavement and work, most people would be lucky to get a couple of weeks before having to return to work. The S Club tour isn't for another 5 months, and it will be 6 months on from Paul's death. There will be distance by then, their grieving process will be at a different stage to what it is now. Between the 5 of them there must be a realisation and agreement that they feel they'll be ready by October, ready as they'll ever be to tour under these circumstances, and as fans I think we have to trust them. I'm not convinced it would be any more or less sad for them if they arbitrarily delayed the tour by a few more months, to be honest.

I think this situation is more acute for Hannah, what with her personal history with Paul that went beyond the band... as well as her seeming the most reluctant to even do it as a 7 in the first place. For her I understand and respect her choice to not put herself through this, though for the other 5 it might be what they need to do.

It's hard all round but they all have our support heart.gif

Posted by: Slayer 14th May 2023, 09:16 PM

That video was heartbreaking, so sad to see them upset. Sending them so much love sad.gif

I totally get Hannah not being involved, love that they changed the name to honour Paul.

It’ll be so weird to see them as five piece, I’m sure they’ll do Paul proud! I’m sure them being with fans and doing something positive will help bring some happiness back into their lives after a huge loss. I agree with a lot that was said above from Jay and Joseph!

Posted by: sammy01 15th May 2023, 06:14 AM

They really should just cancel this now, only 5 of them, awful circumstances it just isn't going to make for a fun and great tour.

Posted by: Slayer 15th May 2023, 12:14 PM

I think it could be a positive thing for them and healing, they deserve some new positive memories.

Plus, we've got to be honest they need to make a living.

I think they'll make it a great tour and it'll be special, especially seeing how they tribute it to Paul during the show. I admire them for ploughing on.

In most regular circumstances as said above people in 'regular' jobs only have a limited time off work to grieve, they'll have had over 6 months, they should continue to work if they feel up to it.

I think it'd make a lot of fans happy to see them up on stage, trying to make something sad into something happy and a great way to honour Paul. I'm sure Paul would have wanted them to continue on, we know how much he loved S Club.

Posted by: spiceboy 15th May 2023, 12:19 PM

I lost one of my co-workers a few years ago, she was one of my best friends after having worked together for 5 years and spending lots of time together outside of work too. I was given 1 day off and that was for her funeral. It is a job at the end of the day so I understand why they are continuing. I have no doubt it will be incredibly tough for them but October is a long way away, time for them to look after each other and prepare one another.

I totally understand and respect Hannah's choice though.

Wish them all the very best.

Posted by: ThePensmith 15th May 2023, 06:02 PM

I have to get this off my chest so apologies in advance if any of this comes across a little coarse.

I was so hoping that the wider reaction to this on socials etc was going to be a lot more supportive than it has broadly been. But this is where you see it's an impossible situation for them to go through, because whichever way they went, you're not pleasing everyone.

But it's sad to think that three years on from Caroline Flack and #bekind, that there's still a load of entitled and unfeeling arseholes that shouldn't be allowed on the internet. Pardon my French Karen on Twitter, but bugger your refund for a second and read the room.

This isn't a common or garden S Club 3 down your local student's union / bingo hall situation with one or two others not doing it. This is one of them no longer being on the same mortal plane, someone who was their bandmate and their brother from another who they grew up with and had a career with.

It's still massively raw for them right now, you only need look at how Jon and Jo in that video in particular were barely able to end their sentences without getting emotional. The fact that the five of them are even finding the strength to go ahead with this when they could have easily - and understandably - cancelled the entire tour is bloody admirable in my eyes and shows such resolve and spirit.

Of course Hannah won't now want to do it; of all of them, she was closest to Paul, and I admire her so much for doing what is best for her and her wellbeing. Quite frankly, when you're grieving the loss of anyone, there is no right or wrong way to feel or to handle it. The least thing people can do is respect their decision, whether certain members are now doing the tour or not.

Until I saw that video yesterday, I was still on the fence about whether or not I'd still go. But I'm going because as emotionally bittersweet as this tour is now going to be, they got me through so much that I found difficult growing up and I now wanna do the same, and in a way say goodbye in my own way to Paul and remember the joy they bought to my life growing up and the memories of - pardon the pun - the good times.

Posted by: -Jay- 15th May 2023, 07:39 PM

clap.gif Exactly!

It’s an impossible situation to please everyone. I’m not sure what the current status is with whether people are allowed to get refunds or not for this unforeseen circumstance but I really hope most people are still wanting to go. I certainly do.

Posted by: sammy01 15th May 2023, 07:47 PM

Obviously the situation is awful but if this tour had been launched as a 5 piece S Club tour a lot of those tickets wouldn't have sold. The big selling point was it was all 7 original members who were going to give you a night reliving your youth.

Now it is a 5 piece and will no doubt be tinged with sadness. The tour now is very much not as it started or was sold as. Obviously that has been out of people's control but I don't blame people if they would prefer a refund now and aren't wanting to go.

Money is tight for a lot of people and a 5 piece tinged with sadness tpur might not seem worth the expense now. I know it is tragic why it has come to this but I doubt any tour promoter would have touched this tour with a barge pole had it started with only 5 members and that is where it is now.

Posted by: spiceboy 15th May 2023, 08:18 PM

I just watched the video and gosh it really upset me. Sending them all so much love.

Posted by: Slayer 15th May 2023, 10:45 PM

They will always be S Club7.

Posted by: JosephStyles 15th May 2023, 10:51 PM

Agreed, no need for a name change, the legacy is and always will be S Club 7.

Posted by: Slayer 14th June 2023, 07:13 PM

Rachel is busier than ever, rehearsing for the S Club tour, which kicks off in autumn 2023.

"We have mixed emotions about our tour because of everything that happened with Paul," Rachel says, referring to the tragic death of her bandmate Paul Cattermole. "One minute we're really emotional and then we're upbeat thinking of our memories, so it's a mix."

"It's so great to be back dancing again, though, and my body just instantly responds so well," Rachel shares, revealing that the band is working with a choreographer from L.A.

"It's just so fun. It doesn't feel like exercise and it's so great to be back with everyone."

Fans will be pleased to know the tour is set to be nostalgia-packed, with Rachel revealing that the band's signature moves from back in the day will be included in the all-new routines.

"There has to be those signature moves because for us, this is all about nostalgia and we want to give little nods to the old days," Rachel shared.

"Being famous so young really impacted my confidence," she confided. "I joined the band when I was 19, and when you're a teenager you're trying to fit in, you're trying to work everything out and I really didn't know who I was at that point.

"A lot of the time I had to just switch on a smile. I actually got very good at putting on the show face and pushing down everything that was really going on. I think that's what I really struggled with," she said.

"I honestly think I've felt my most confidence in the last few years, from finding my voice and finding what I really need in my life and setting those boundaries.

"I've done so much growing in the last few years, more than any time in my life, but still, feeling confident is a work in progress. One day I feel confident and the next day I don't, it's so changeable all the time. I'm just constantly figuring it out."

Bradley, 41, has teased that if all goes well, new music could be on the cards.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: “We’d all love it. I’m sure we’d love to [do new music] but our main focus is right now on the tour. That’s the most important thing because we’ve got a we’ve got a big, big job on our hands, making sure that this show is perfect and epic.

“But everyone’s positive and if it all goes well and the fans out there want to hear more, I’m sure we can maybe with something there’s something for us to discuss.

Never say never, we might have a few surprises up our sleeves just watch this space!”

That's such a great new picture! wub.gif

I'm happy that they're making the best of the situation. It's clear that great effort has gone into their styling and the quality of the photoshoots they're now using.

The 7 of them being back together was of course incredible and I was so looking forward to seeing them ( sad.gif ), but their team was cutting corners such as using an image from 2000 (with a badly enlarged on photoshop picture) to promote the tour. It was an understandable approach to lean on the nostalgia, but if there's any silver lining in this it's that they're now presenting themselves as an active group.

(I really don't intend for any of this to sound insensitive to Paul or Hannah so I hope it doesn't come across like that)

Now United confirmed as opener. They're Simon Fuller's more recent band so perhaps not surprising, but also not the most exciting name. They have a couple of bops though x

Posted by: Slayer 30th August 2023, 12:55 PM

Bradley did an interview with Express & Star:

“Honestly, we’re so proud, so honoured, that we can come back. It was quite nerve-wracking. Simon Fuller our manager called about the 25th anniversary and asked if we fancied doing a tour. Without hesitation, everybody was up for it, 100 per cent. But you never know how well it’s going to do. London’s O2 is a massive venue, then there’s Birmingham, and Manchester. You know: are we gonna sell those out?

“Honestly, we are so proud that we managed to sell so many tickets, really, really fast. Yeah, we’re just really excited about it.”

“Absolutely. I mean, this time round, I think all the kids that were kids when we first came out are now grown adults with their own kids…” That’s a lot of kids. Bradley laughs. “We want those original fans to introduce their kids to our music. They loved S Club growing up and they can bring them to the show. It’s fantastic. We’re so proud and honoured to be a part of something that meant so much to people when they were growing up. It’s just fantastic. That’s why 25 years later we can put on a show. It’s people who are mid-20s up to late 30s, that’s the audience.”

S Club, now down to five members after the departure of Hannah Spearitt, released These Are the Days in memory of Cattermole. The tour, which has been renamed S Club: The Good Times Tour, is also a tribute to Paul, having taken its name from an S Club song and a big fan favourite on which he sang lead vocals.

It’s a time to look forward, however, and Bradley is mindful of the incredible ride that the band enjoyed, at the end of the 20th century.

“It’s a weird one actually because I can’t say it went really quickly. I’d say we did so much in such a short time. It was five years, maybe six, with one year of prep then five years in the public eye. We were doing so much constantly there was never a dull moment. We had hardly any time off. We were constantly flying backwards and forwards.

“What made us so different from other bands was that we had a TV show. We did the album, we’d film our music, and that was incorporated into the TV show. So we’d record the songs, then we’d fly to America, do the TV show and once the TV show was finished we’d fly home. We’d promote the album, promote the TV show, and once that was done we’d fly back to America to record, do another TV and start it all again.

“We had four seasons of TV shows, a couple of hour-long specials, then we had our feature movie as well. So in that five years, with promoting, doing TV shows, and touring, it was so much. You don’t really process it until after. People say: ‘Do you know you had Beanie Babies?’ No. I didn’t. I’ve just discovered that we did.

“I’m very proud, very, very proud.

“When I was a bit younger, I always wanted to be cool. Some people didn’t consider S Club as being very cool back then. I’m from south London and I loved r’n’b and hip hop and there I was, in this pop group.

“But I enjoyed the music. I’m from a musical background and love all kinds of music. When we were younger, the press used to call us teeny boppers, and a manufactured band. But now that we’re a bit older, we’re pop icons, we’re pop legends – and that’s great.”

“My dad was in a soul band, back in the day. My mum and dad were in bands. I saw them on Top of the Pops when I was growing up. They had a big hit, Spend The Night, and my mum went onto be in Bomb The Bass and did Baby Don’t Make Me Wait. Then she went onto do vocals with Rod Stewart and Jamiroquai – people like that.

“So I’ve always been around music and they’ve just been such a huge inspiration to me. To be a part of something like S Club is just a dream. They were just supportive. They have been the most supportive. My dad has been my rock – you know, and my mum. There are no favourites. The first thing my dad said to me when I got into the industry was this. He said: ‘Son, there are two things. First, I want you to have fun. Second, just remember, nobody likes a big head’.”

For all the sunshine, of course, there have been plenty of times when S Club was exhausting and difficult – that’s life, whether you’re a plumber, a painter and decorator, or a pop star. And S Club were no different. There were criticisms of Simon Fuller, there were financial issues, there were a gamut of issues that come with being in one of the UK’s most successful pop bands of all time. Through it all, Bradley was able to turn to his parents.

“They were great. 100 per cent. My friends were so supportive too. We went off on this massive journey and all of a sudden we came home and there was stardom. People knew our names. But my friends didn’t change. I remember the first we came home from filming Miami 7 and I was sitting in my mate’s room and I said: ‘I’m gonna be on TV in a minute’.

“And we were all sitting round. And they were like: ‘What?’ And I said: ‘Yeah, I’m gonna be on BBC’.

“We stopped what we were doing – we were playing video games, we were playing FIFA. So we turned on the TV and they laughed at me for a second. ‘What’s going on?’

“And then we turned the TV off and carried on playing FIFA. So every time I came home, my friends just treated me like Bradley. There was never any Mr Celebrity, there was no teasing. They just treated me normal and that kept me grounded, which is very important.”

These Are The Days has been well received – though it’s funny to think of S Club as being veterans as they adapt to the digital age in which the record was recorded.

“It’s all changed. The producer was in Canada so we were doing Zoom sessions. It was mind-blowing. It was good fun. It doesn’t feel strange for us to come back together and be in a studio. It’s like, we’ve got this connection, so it doesn’t feel weird. It doesn’t feel like we’ve spent time apart.”

It’s time to wrap up, but there’s still a little time to reflect on the good times – and to get the party started.

“The chemistry is still there. It’s great. We’re going on tour. The tour’s around the corner and we’re not that far away from it– especially Birmingham. Our very last show is in Birmingham and that’s always one of the most important shows. It’s sad to say goodbye to the tour but there’s always an energy and a buzz and we know there’s going to be a massive party afterwards. So Birmimgham – come and see us, I think there’s a few tickets left.”

Jo and Jon spoke with Manchester Evening News!

QUOTE
When S Club 7 last performed in Manchester eight years ago, all seven members finished up the show with a rousing sing-a-long of their legendary hit Don’t Stop Movin’ in front of tens of thousands of devoted fans.

Sadly, it would be the last time all seven members would be on stage in Manchester together. Paul Cattermole, who was a part of the band from its inception in 1998 up until 2002, sadly passed away from underlying heart conditions just months after the band announced plans for their comeback tour earlier this year.

Following his tragic passing, fellow bandmate later Hannah Spearritt announced she would no longer be taking part in the 14-date tour, which will kick off in Manchester at the AO Arena on October 12 (tickets here) before returning to the city for a sold out show on October 21.

Speaking to the M.E.N ahead of the tour, members Jo O’Meara and Jon Lee said the band’s initial plans for how the show was going to look have now been scrapped altogether in order to turn the tour into a celebration of Paul’s life and the ‘good times’ the band shared over the years.

“We’re going to be honouring Paul throughout the entire tour,” Jo, 44, explains of the upcoming five-piece show. “Renaming it the Good Times tour was just a no-brainer for us and It just seemed like the right thing for us to do.

“Paul was going to sing that song on the tour – he had it all planned out how he was going to perform it with his guitar. It is just the ideal name for the tour.

“S Club has always been about positivity and being upbeat so it’s going to be more about celebrating Paul’s life in a really uplifting way but it is definitely going to feel like Paul is there with us on stage, for sure.”

Jon, 41, added: “We’re also going to be dedicating the first night in Manchester to the British Heart Foundation as Paul died of underlying heart conditions that he wasn’t aware of. We’re going to be working with them throughout the tour and hopefully into next year to try and raise awareness.

“It’ll be emotional but we want to make it a celebration of 25 years of S Club. It’s no mean feat to still be around after 25 years so it will be a chance for us all to really honour everything that we’ve worked so hard on over those years.”

Having released four albums and 14 singles, the pair admit the band had a difficult task deciding which songs would make it onto the set list – especially as a number of S Club’s album tracks also became popular through their inclusion on the band’s hit CBBC shows Miami 7, L.A 7 and Hollywood 7.

But, fear not, the likes of Bring It All Back, Reach, Don’t Stop Movin’ and Never Had A Dream Come True are all set to be performed.

There’s a few songs that we’ll be performing for the first time because the fans have asked for them,” Jon explains. “They’re finally going to get to hear some of those songs live on stage. We’re very fortunate in the sense that we have a back catalogue that everyone knows so well.”

Jo adds: “We’ve taken on board what the fans have said and tried to narrow them down but how lucky are we to be in a position where we have to cut songs? That’s a very privileged position to be in, so we’ll be picking the best to ensure we get the right mix.”

Jo and Jon say the band are extremely excited to be opening the tour in Manchester – having had fond memories of performing in the city over the span of their career.

“I don’t think we could have started off in a better place,” Jo says. “It’s scary because it’s one of the biggest audiences but the reaction we’ve always had from Manchester is just so energetic. Our Manchester fans are just loud, which is what we want – the louder the better.”

Jon adds: “Manchester has always been one of our favourite places to play. When you’re standing there and you have tens of thousands of people screaming and singing along with you, the energy is unreal.”

In July, S Club released These Are the Days – their first single in 20 years. Made alongside a number of songwriters and producers the band has previously worked with, the song’s video featured the group looking through photographs and memories throughout their time as a seven-piece.

The track received such a positive reaction from fans that the band say they are now contemplating working on more music.

“It was lovely to get back into the studio together,” Jo explained. “These Are The Days was just the perfect song for us – it felt right. We were all very happy to see the fans react so well to it.

Jon added: “We’re just mainly focusing on the tour at the moment but we’re listening to the fans and we’re all up for making more music. When we get the time to record new music, we will.”

And, speaking of getting back in the studio and rehearsal room together, Jo said: “It’s been really nice. I think the special thing about S Club in general is that it doesn’t matter how much time passes, it’s literally like stepping into a time machine – you just pick up where you left things, with the same kind of jokes with each other.

“it’s lovely for us all to get back together and we can’t wait to see the fans again.”

S Club shine a spotlight on heart conditions this September
We're joining forces with noughties pop sensation S Club this month to shine a spotlight on heart conditions in memory of their much-loved band member Paul.
https://www.bhf.org.uk/what-we-do/news-from-the-bhf/news-archive/2023/september/s-club-shine-a-spotlight-on-heart-conditions-this-september

QUOTE
The band are encouraging the public to support our Spotlight On campaign this month in honour of the singer who died in April this year, at the age of 46, from an underlying heart condition.

Together we want to shine a spotlight on the devastating impact of hidden heart conditions, and raise funds for vital research this September. These conditions can often go undiagnosed for too long, until something goes wrong or it's too late. As part of the campaign S Club are encouraging fans and people across the country to post a picture on social media with the hand heart gesture to show their support and tagging their post with #showyourhearts.

The British pop band, who announced their 25th anniversary reunion tour just weeks before Paul’s tragic death, will be dedicating the first night of their ‘Good Times Tour' in Manchester on the 12th October to the BHF in his memory.

Jon Lee, S Club member, said: “As a band we all personally know the devastating affect heart and circulatory diseases can have on people’s lives. Our hearts feel emptier without him, and we miss him every single day. It’s heartbreaking to know that this isn’t uncommon and far too many people die too soon from heart conditions they didn’t know they had. That’s why we’re asking everyone to show their heart and join the BHF by shining a spotlight on these conditions this September.”

The announcement comes as new research we commissioned revealed people in the UK severely underestimate the scale and seriousness of heart and circulatory diseases.

While it’s estimated around half of people in the UK will get a heart or circulatory condition during their lifetime, almost a quarter (23 per cent) of those surveyed thought the likelihood of them developing a heart condition was only one in 10, while nearly a fifth (19 per cent) thought the chance was just one in 50. Only three per cent of respondents knew the correct answer - which is 1 in 2.

Across the generations, millennials (31 per cent) are most likely to think they will ever be affected by heart and circulatory diseases, whereas baby boomers are the least likely (18 per cent).

These perceptions stand in stark contrast to the fact that there are currently around 7.6 million people living with a heart or circulatory disease in the UK, and these figures could rise further.

People are unaware of the scale of heart and circulatory disease
Our Chief Executive, Dr Charmaine Griffiths, said: “We’re honoured to be joining forces with S Club to shine a spotlight on heart and circulatory conditions in memory of their beloved band member Paul. Like too many families across the UK, Paul’s loved ones only knew he had a heart condition after his tragic death at such a young age. Hidden heart conditions cut people down in the prime of their lives and rob families of their loved ones in sudden and shocking ways.

“It’s particularly worrying to see so many people are unaware of the scale of heart and circulatory diseases in the UK when one in two of us will be affected. That’s why together, with S Club, we want to raise awareness and bring heart and circulatory conditions into focus this September. By raising funds for our lifesaving research, we get a step closer to research breakthroughs that could help save and improve millions of lives and prevent people from losing loved ones too soon.”

WOW! They’ve announced a US tour!

They aren't doing arenas, so the production will most likely be scaled down significantly.

Isn't it short notice? What took them so long to announce it?

Posted by: JosephStyles 12th September 2023, 07:18 PM

Probably wasn't organised until relatively recently.

Doubt anyone expected them to be doing arenas outside the UK...!

Posted by: Slayer 12th September 2023, 08:50 PM

WOW, there looks like a lot of people are wanting to see them! Seeing a lot of buzz on different forums!

Also there was A LOT of people booking tickets shown on their IG story.

I'm very happy for them.

I've saw some people say Atomic Kitten/B*witched are opening some shows as well as Now United? not sure how true it is yet.

Just purely by chance I came across a - really quite spiteful - thought piece in The Independent today: https://inews.co.uk/culture/music/s-club-reunion-tour-joyful-nostalgic-bleak-2679892

Apart from the fact it's mostly dragging up old wounds again, is woefully inaccurate and offering unhelpful comparisons to Sugababes (they're two totally different bands and don't need to be anything else)... why do people think digging the knife in like this is acceptable? Just makes me so cross 😠

Posted by: JosephStyles 12th October 2023, 05:58 AM

What an exceptionally sour and bitter article. Someone's formed and opinion on a tour that hasn't yet started and has entirely ignored what the band have promised. It's not going to be a night of sadness. This is a new chapter for S Club, one that began with grief and a tragic loss but this time, it does feel like the five of them are there because they truly want to be. They seem so invested in it!

Anyway, enough dwelling on shit like that. It's opening night TONIGHT!! If anyone's going to Manchester, I hope you have an amazing time!!

^ not a good look even tho not their fault

Posted by: JosephStyles 13th October 2023, 03:50 PM

I think anyone with half a brain cell will be able to tell it's not their fault so it won't reflect on them - it's great that the rescheduled date is so soon!

Posted by: ___∆___ 13th October 2023, 04:31 PM

Lovely - arrived in Liverpool at 3pm, doors to meet and greet was due to open at 4.45 and email received at 4.30 to say it was cancelled.

Appreciate it might not be their fault, new date already announced etc., but that doesn’t change the £200 train cost, £250 hotel cost and a day booked off work, if I come back to the rescheduled date it’ll be 2 days holiday and the costs above again.

Feel gutted for the fans we’ve spoken too that are here from USA, France, Germany, Netherlands as well as all over the UK etc.,

Posted by: Slayer 13th October 2023, 06:31 PM

Are you able to go to this?

Posted by: JosephStyles 13th October 2023, 06:52 PM

That's really nice of them to offer that, it's more than any other artist I've seen who's had to postpone/cancel last minute.

Literally just got them email - we’re now looking at how to get from Liverpool to Sheffield then back to London, we’ve found a few decent hotels nearby so now just need to sort out the travel.

Fair play - in all the shows I’ve ever had cancelled over the years I’ve never had this offered!

Posted by: Slayer 13th October 2023, 07:29 PM

Ahh I really hope it works out for you!!

I'm sorry you've had to go through all of this tress.

I agree i've never saw anything like this before, i'm glad they are doing something though, it is good to see they are trying to make up for it.

Posted by: sammy01 13th October 2023, 07:31 PM

Lovely gesture but surely they can only do that as the Sheffield date has sold poorly and they were going to give free tickets away any way like they did last night.

Last night's Manchester date didn't sell too well as it was an extra date added after the demand of the initial one, but obviously they overestimated a bit. The Sheffield one isn't anywhere near as undersold (nor are any of the other dates).

Posted by: vibe 14th October 2023, 07:33 AM

That is a lovely gesture from them!

Posted by: ___∆___ 14th October 2023, 10:36 AM

On my way to Sheffield - we saw Bradley and their tour manager last night, they couldn’t have been more apologetic (also found out the reason the arena cancelled last night - really poor reason and nothing to do with the band).

They said seating tonight will be in the friends and family area so guessing one of the side blocks.

Posted by: Slayer 14th October 2023, 12:32 PM

Ahh so nice you got to meet Bradley and he was apologetic!

Does this mean you will another meet and greet at the re-scheduled show as well as tonight? I hope you do!

Let us know in the spoilers thread how tonight was!

Also Joseph have a great time tonight, can't wait to hear how you found it also!

Thank you and yes, the email said it changes nothing from the original booking - we can still have the M&G etc., or a full refund if we can’t make the date and that tonight was from the band as an apology!

You're putting words into my mouth and reading into things too much. If you don't report stuff we can't keep track of it (I only receive reports for the AFs I moderate and UK Charts, ie. the forums I'm a listed moderator despite being a whole forum admin so I'm not aware of stuff that happens in other forums).

You can continue this discussion with me over PM if you wish but I'm not continuing it here and any further posts (from anyone) will be deleted because we're way off topic and I'm not having this sort of crap in the S Club forum, it's not the vibe we're having in here.

Interview with Rolling Stone ahead of the US leg of the tour!

S Club Recall ‘Delirious’ Hollywood Days and Tease U.S. Reunion Tour: ‘It’s a Tribute to Paul’ with Rolling Stone

QUOTE
ONE OF THE most popular British pop groups of all time are coming back to America with a new reunion tour, new music and a newfound perspective on their more-than two decades of success.

S Club (formerly known as S Club 7) bring their “Good Times Tour” to North America this winter, kicking off February 16 in Toronto before making their way to Boston, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles (find tickets on Ticketmaster or sites like VividSeats.com).

Now using the moniker “S Club,” following the sudden passing of original member Paul Cattermole in April and Hannah Spearritt’s departure from the group, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara and Rachel Stevens say their “Good Times Tour” is meant to pay tribute to the group’s enduring legion of fans, while also paying tribute to Cattermole’s memory.

The new tour also helps to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the group, which was formed in 1998 in the UK and crossed over to the U.S. with their hit TV shows, S Club Miami 7 and S Club 7 in L.A. (which aired on Fox Family and Nickelodeon) and songs like “Never Heard a Dream Come True” (which reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart). Following a string of sold-out arena dates back home and the release of a new single titled “These Are the Days,” the five members of S Club head to North America for their first-ever stateside tour — the first time the group has been in the U.S. in more than a decade.

Rolling Stone caught up with Barrett, Mcintosh, O’Meara and Stevens (Lee was unavailable on the day) to chat about reuniting for the new tour, favorite memories of filming their TV show in America, and why the “S Club Party” isn’t stopping anytime soon.

You all just finished the UK run of your “Good Times” reunion tour. What was it like being back together again?

Stevens: It’s just been incredible. You know, we were celebrating 25 years, and the love from our fans has been so amazing. We’ve had so many people coming from all over the world, and it’s just been such a celebration of nostalgia for all of us.

Barrett: I think we appreciate it more — I know I definitely do. Because when you’re young, it’s all very manic and you’re in this sort of bubble and you don’t think about it too much. Whereas now, we can actually appreciate it — and each other — for how amazing this is.

Mcintosh: I’d say personally, this has been my most favorite tour out of all the tours we’ve done. Obviously we miss Paul and Hannah, but everything about this tour, from the visuals to the choreography to the styling is incredible.

S Club reunited in 2015 for the “Bring It All Back” tour. Whose idea was it to come back together this time around?

Mcintosh: I believe it was Simon Fuller, our manager. He emailed us around the end of 2020 and just said, ‘Hey guys, your 25th anniversary is approaching? How do you fancy doing a 25-year anniversary tour?’ And no one was in doubt. Everybody was just like, ‘Yes! Absolutely!’

Had you all kept in touch over the years?

O’Meara: We have always kept in touch, but often like passing ships in the night. I think there’s something about all of us that we’re always going to be connected in one way or another, but the second that we were all back together in the room, it was like no time had passed. We just automatically clicked straight back into that dynamic that we’ve always had, which is something really special. And yeah, it’s always very loud. And a lot of fun.

Stevens: It’s been really special coming back together. As you know, a lot of us have got kids now, and it’s been really lovely coming back and sort of getting to know each other again, but as grownups and in different stages of our lives.

You’re officially touring the U.S. for the first time, but you spent many years here filming your TV shows and doing promotional spots. What do you remember about being here?

Stevens: I mean, we probably spent more time in America than we did in the UK, starting off in Miami, and then filming two series in LA. We were up at the crack of dawn, we’d finish as the sun was going down, and we’d sometimes do night shoots too. I just remember how delirious we all were when it got so late and we’d just start laughing and having so much fun.

O’Meara: Me and Rachel did a lot of shopping.

Stevens: We did a lot of shopping. The shopping was good in L.A.

Mcintosh: Where did you guys do your shopping the most? I was in the Beverly Center quite a lot.

Stevens: I loved The Grove. The Grove was like my happy place.

Barrett: I remember we went to Gucci on Rodeo Drive, and we spent an absolute fortune. I was like, ‘Let’s just buy something really, really expensive and then don’t panic.’

What did you buy?

I got a pair of boots that were like, ridiculously expensive. I think they were like, two-grand back then or something.. whoops. But they looked great. I still have them by the way.

Bradley, I heard you love American food?

Mcintosh: I’m just a foodie in general. But I’m definitely hitting Roscoe’s [Chicken & Waffles], that’s for sure. I hope it’s still as good as it used to be. I was dating a girl back then, and she took me to Roscoe’s one day and it was mind blowing. What else did I like? Carl’s Jr. They had this sourdough burger with Swiss cheese and I loved that [laughs]. I’m scared to go back [to America]. I’ve lost all this weight and I’m scared I’m gonna come back a stone heavier.

All four of you have kids now. What do they think of seeing ‘mommy’ and ‘daddy’ up on stage?

Stevens: We actually had our kids join one of the London shows, which was so special. You know, all our kids are kind of in the same [age] range and they all came on stage with us. I think they had a great time and were excited to be a part of it.

A lot of fans grew up listening to S Club 7 as kids — what do your kids listen to these days?

O’Meara: My son actually really shocks me. He’s got really unusual musical tastes. He listens to really old-school singers.

Mcintosh: I can imagine that.

Barrett: He’s like you — an old soul.

O’Meara: Yeah, he’s an old soul. He’ll listen to jazz, he loves Amy Winehouse, he’ll be listening to Frank Sinatra, but then he really loves the rapper, Dave.

Your reunion tour sold out in the UK and tickets are moving quickly for the North American dates. Why do you think people are still connecting with S Club so much?

Stevens: There are so many incredible pop artists out there, but I think what did separate us from everyone was our music — it was so positive and all about lifting each other up. What was so special about meeting all of our fans this time around, is that they were kids and now they’re all grown up. And they tell us that we helped them through some really hard times in their lives; we were such a positive outlet. And I think we are all about kindness and love and fun and energy and positivity. And that’s quite rare.

O’Meara: That’s the thing — there aren’t a lot of bands that sort of do that anymore. Maybe like —

Barrett: I think maybe like Harry Styles and Taylor Swift? I think they are quite positive people. I also really wanted to get Taylor Swift tickets but because we literally were also touring, we didn’t get a chance’

Ahead of your North American dates, what can fans expect from the show and what do you hope they take away from it?

Barrett: It really takes you on a journey. We’ve got the fun and energy and sort of like a club concept, but then quite a bit of the show is for Paul as well. It’s a a tribute to Paul. So it’s a real journey. And it’s so special.

(In an email, Lee adds, “Paul was and will always be part of S Club – he was so funny, crazy, loving and a great friend- and that spirit pretty much sums up the vibe of the tour. It’s what S Club is all about.”)

O’Meara: I think the main thing we would love for people to take away from this show is that feeling of escapism. So many fans come up to us and say, ‘You helped me through a really tough time, or ‘You helped me come out,’ and so it will be really lovely for them to walk out and get that warm sense of belonging.

Mcintosh: It’s incredible that our fans were really young when we first came out. And now that they brought their kids along, I got a few comments and messages from people saying, ‘It was so nice to bring my daughter along or my son along, and now they’re big fans of your music.’ So you know, we’re reaching out to a new generation.

O’Meara: We’re excited. To have the opportunity to actually tour one of the biggest places in the world is incredible. I think every English band’s dream is to go and tour America. So the fact that we get to do it 25 years later, is quite unbelievable.

Interview with People ahead of the US tour!

QUOTE
The calling card of S Club — originally featuring O'Meara, Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt and Rachel Stevens — was their feel-good, empowerment anthems. They exploded in the UK, earning a string of No. 1 singles including “Bring It All Back,” “Never Had a Dream Come True,” “Don’t Stop Movin” and “Have You Ever.” In five years, they recorded four albums — and they even took home two BRIT Awards throughout their tenure.

There are several reasons the band feels like they connected with listeners so much at the time. O’Meara, 44, believes it was their magnetic songs and chemistry. She also feels like there was a certain degree of inspiration they provided to fans. “For a lot of kids, that we were marketed for, that maybe were going through stuff or tough times, it was their escape,” she says of the band’s music.

Stevens, 45, on the other hand, believes their inherent relatability factor resonated with people. “They felt like one of us because we weren't all snooty,” she explains. “We were just like you.”

However, during the height of their career, the band struggled to find respect.

“We always saw ourselves as young talent, but I think the industry always saw you as like a manufactured pop band. You never really had that same respect as a proper band like someone like Coldplay or something,” McIntosh, 42, notes. Part of that, the band concurs, is that the collective attitude toward pop has shifted. “Back in the day it was cheesy pop bands, cheesy manufactured bands,” he says. “Now it’s pop legends, pop icons.”

But S Club wasn’t just a band — it was a brand. During their rise to fame, they also starred in their own sitcoms as fictionalized versions of themselves. With series like Miami 7, L.A. 7, Hollywood 7 and even a movie called Seeing Double, the band earned a niche fanbase in America. “The characters sort of went so far from like, real people,” Barrett, 47, remarks. “They were just kind of ridiculous in a way.”

By 2003, the band officially split — a year after Cattermole left S Club. They’d go onto pursue solo projects, and over time, they’ve reunited in varying iterations.

In the years since forming, not everything has been positive for the group. They’ve spoken out about their financial struggles, as well as their criticisms of Fuller, 63.

Back in the day, Fuller not only managed the S Club, but also the Spice Girls. However, the English pop group didn’t exactly interact with the “Wannabe” artists, though they had encounters with Geri Halliwell and Mel C. over the years. When band member Bradley McIntosh met the latter, he asked for a photo. “I fan-boyed, I fan-girled,” he quips.

Their landmark reunion has allowed the group to reintroduce themselves to original fans and perhaps gain a renewed pop following. But the road back to the stage hasn’t been without its challenges. In April, Cattermole, who was supposed to join the band for their 25th anniversary tour, died aged 46 from heart-related issues. The surviving members of the group renamed the reunion dates “The Good Times Tour,” which according to Lee, 41, was “the song that Paul was going to sing.” Following his tragic death, Spearritt, 42, dropped out of the tour.

When asked whether they considered scrapping the reunion tour following Cattermole’s death, O’Meara says it wasn’t an option. “Because Paul was so, so excited for the tour, maybe a bit more than all of us, actually, I think he'd have been really annoyed with us if we'd have pulled it completely,” she says. They’ve grieved and are paying homage to the late musician in their own way.

As a tribute to Cattermole — and to mark their reunion, however — S Club shared their first new music in 20 years in July with the wistful, breezy pop number “These Are the Days.” Penned by the original team of songwriters S Club worked with — Kathy Dennis and Jo and Simon Ellis, the group wanted “something that sounded familiar to the fans,” says McIntosh.

”It definitely had that ‘S Club feeling’,” he explains, while O’Meara adds that “it just really resonated with where we stand today.”

While out on the road, the band isn’t necessarily excited to play every S Club song. They collectively agree that their song “It’s a Feel Good Thing” brings back memories of a cringe-worthy scene on one of their shows where they’re dancing on a plane. “I pull out a rubber turkey out of a seat,” Barrett recalls. O’Meara adds the song is “stupid.”

But the band is more focused on the future, which includes their first live shows in America and hopefully recording an album or longer project. They believe it all comes down to the fans. “If they want to hear more music, we'll do more music,” says Lee. More broadly, S Club has more “exciting projects” to come this year.

“Maybe a TV show might be in the mix,” Barrett says coyly.

Love the talk of recording an album in there, they really do seem in it for the long haul heart.gif The absolute rudeness to It's a Feel Good Thing though!!!!

Agreed. I do wonder what a potential television show would look like though.

I feel like it's probably unlikely to get commissioned but it'd be fun to watch them as adults doing the TV show again kink.gif
