BuzzJack Music Forum _ S Club _ Rachel is playing Mighty Hoopla 2024

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 9th November 2022, 01:33 PM

Bumping this due to her being announced for Mighty Hoopla next year! (That entire line-up tho.... MY GOD!)

What an album. Would love if she did what Kate Nash did for 'Made of Bricks' in 2017 and toured this album by playing it from start to finish (throw in the other hits and an S Club song here and there to pad it out)... Hope she gets the "music bug" again after this gig tbh. She'd THRIVE in today's market (in a similar way to Carly Rae/Rina/Charli etc..)

The line up is amazing omg. I have tickets for Glasto and wasn't going to go to any other big events this year as a result but I have to make an exception I think - Kelly Rowland, Rachel Stevens, Kelis, Natasha Bedingfield, Jamelia, Samantha Mumba all on ONE day is insane to me! All were 90's/00's staples for me growing up.

Oh my, what a line up cheeseblock.png

How exciting that Rachel will perform again! I hope this will lead to more from her, a brand new album would be fabulous... surely BMG would have interest in her. Or if not that, hopefully Universal thinks it's worthwhile to press her old albums on vinyl.

I just hope her music ends up on Australian streaming and digital services.

This is great though!

What a line up!

Ps come and get it is one the biggest travesties of injustice ever what an album deserved to be like 21 in terms of success!!

Posted by: dannjohn 12th November 2022, 03:28 PM

Its such an obvious & bland line up besides Kelly & Kelis. Nice Rachel’s finally agreed to it i suppose. I imagine Jo will be silently fuming somewhere as shes actually attempting a solo career.

Negotiate With Love and I Said Never Again (But Here We Are) are amazing. As is the album track Nothing Good About This Goodbye. Hopefully they all get a spot on her setlist.

Posted by: Yobnedor 12th November 2022, 08:51 PM

I Said Never Again being filmed at the same set as Bad Girls will forever be iconique!

I second this!

I don't know if it's wishful thinking on my part, but I am so excited by this news and I so hope and am manifesting that we get a tour from Rachel off the back of this next year (chiefly because whilst I like the idea of doing Hoopla, after my experience at Sugababes at the Apollo the other week when it was overcrowded relative to actual venue capacity, I don't know that I like the idea of being in such a rammed environment on my own).

She has more than enough material solo and an S Club medley to fill an hour and a half set. I don't care if it's small academy style venues and only four or six dates in the major cities like Natalie Imbruglia has just done - point is I am there and she can literally take my credit card! I was so invested in her solo career - "Come and Get It" in particular is one of my all time favourite albums - mainly because it was such brilliant music she made, and she never ever got the wider recognition or love she truly deserved.

I just hope these performances at Hoopla will change all that and make her realise there's more love for her solo out there than she thinks there is.

Anyway there's me putting my hopes and dreams out that probably won't be realised!

Posted by: dannjohn 13th November 2022, 12:12 AM

I guess with Rachel theres not a lot of point of academy shows if theres no music to follow

Why did she stop recording?

Why did she stop recording?

I don't think the chart performances of the Come and Get It album & its singles put her in a good enough position to viably continue. Now it doesn't seem to matter much if an artist's album only spends just 1 week in the chart... but back then an album run of 28-58-109-197-out was likely considered a disaster for Polydor/Universal.

(A chart run like that for a peak as low as #28 looks quite weird now, when we've got used to many albums debuting in the Top 10 and then leaving the Top 100 or Top 200 the following week!)

This signals Rachel is dipping her toe in the pond to see how the reaction is in hope of making some form of a musical return.

Posted by: -Jay- 14th February 2023, 04:37 PM

I so wish I was going to see this, but I'll have to rely on YouTube! I wonder what her set list will be?

Posted by: Slayer 14th February 2023, 08:43 PM

I'll be there! I'm so excited!

That would be such a good setlist but if she leaves out Nothing good about this goodbye then the whole thing is a failure!!! cry.gif

I'm going to Hoopla in a few weeks and i'm so excited to see Rachel perform.

Is anyone else here attending? Or seen her perform solo before?

Posted by: JosephStyles 12th May 2023, 02:19 PM

I'm not, but I'm so envious of anyone who is!!

Posted by: Slayer 12th May 2023, 04:17 PM

I’ll give my full review! tongue.gif

I’m so nervous, I’m going on my own! My friend is no longer able to go 😫 but I don’t want to miss out on it so I’m going!

Posted by: -Jay- 13th May 2023, 01:32 AM

Have the best time! wub.gif I wish I was going! Just hoping that there'll be some full recordings of the set *_*

Posted by: JosephStyles 14th May 2023, 05:58 PM

Hope you have the best time Slayer, I'm so envious! Feel like I'd find the experience far too overwhelming to enjoy actually being there unfortunately cry.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith 18th May 2023, 01:21 PM

Understandably, they've confirmed that Rachel has now pulled out:

Posted by: Slayer 18th May 2023, 01:28 PM

I get it but nooo sad.gif

Posted by: -Jay- 18th May 2023, 01:33 PM

cry.gif Disappointing for the fans but completely understandable

Posted by: JosephStyles 19th May 2023, 07:26 PM

A shame but entirely understandable, it must still feel so raw sad.gif

Posted by: vibe 23rd May 2023, 12:26 PM

Massive shame but understandable! She was doing both days too!

Posted by: vibe 23rd May 2023, 12:26 PM

I can see the whole band being booked for 2024 !

Posted by: JosephStyles 24th May 2023, 08:22 PM

I'll be intrigued to see if the five of them do anything together after the tour. It wouldn't surprise me if it were a last hurrah now sadly sad.gif

I agree with this, I think there will be no more bar the S Club 3 esque stuff following on from this.

Posted by: JosephChalamet 15th January 2024, 06:52 AM

Can't believe it wasn't posted here but Rachel was confirmed for the 2024 line-up! I wonder if this is preparation for it...

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 15th January 2024, 08:25 AM

Ooh amazing, I’m sure it’ll come around quickly.

Posted by: Slayer 15th January 2024, 06:52 PM

Ahh exciting seeing her back in the studio, even if it is for pre-recording vocals!

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 2nd June 2024, 03:48 PM

SHE PERFORMED SHOW ME YOUR COLOURS!!!!!! (Spoilering *just in case* - feel free to unspoil if you think it’s not needed)

Posted by: Slayer 2nd June 2024, 08:39 PM

Rachel's set looked so amazing!!!

It was so good (no pun intended) to see her perform solo again, she seemed to be loving it!

Posted by: JosephBoone 2nd June 2024, 08:40 PM

Setlist:

1 Some Girls
2 I Said Never Again (But Here We Are)
3 Natural
4 Show Me Your Colours
5 So Good
6 Sweet Dreams My LA Ex

cheeseblock.png I'm gagged that she did Show Me Your Colours!!! We need it on the next S Club tour cry.gif

Posted by: One_For_Sorrow 2nd June 2024, 08:46 PM

That’s a pretty decent set list of 6 songs.

Would’ve liked to see Negotiate With Love, but wouldn’t take anything from that list out.

Posted by: Slayer 3rd June 2024, 03:33 PM

Bradley was there with Rachel, so sweet to see him there supporting her!

Posted by: spiceboy 3rd June 2024, 05:15 PM

Surprised she didn't do More More More, although I am glad she didn't as it's quite shit compared to the rest of her discography!

Posted by: Slayer 3rd June 2024, 06:19 PM

Let me pretend I did not just witness More More More slander x

TERRIBLE!!!! laugh.gif

I actually don't mind it, but it ranks down at the bottom of her incredible singles list for me.

Even though it’s short, it’s quite the good singles discography.
