So I've decided this year with any money I get for my birthday to invest in a vinyl record player. There's a good one I've seen going for under £200 that'll fit my needs neatly. It's just overtime I've accumulated different vinyl releases that some of my favourite acts like McFly, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and/or Girls Aloud have put out of their singles, and even vinyl of even older stuff that my parents had that I've never really had the chance to listen to properly.
I guess I was just wondering, what with the rise in interest in vinyl of late whether any Buzzjackers listened to and/or bought any vinyl?
I feel this may be better suited in the Retro forum so am moving it there!
Thank you Silas. I was deliberating whether or not to put it in there!
Yes yes yessss! I got a record player last year for my 17th birthday and love to collect vinyl. I have an orange Crosley one which probably isn't the best out there but the design is lovely. Currently working on getting all the Now albums and Beatles ones. The latter are very expensive though so tend to just keep an eye out when going to carboot sales / charity shops.
See I was looking at a Crosley but most of the reviews said it was a bit style and no substance. And I don't wanna damage any of my folks' old records if I can. Especially their Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel (the 'With the Beatles' one is my mum's from when she was growing up and has 'Shirley McCartney' written on it. Bless her 15 year old fangirl cotton socks!)
I've had my own vinyl player since 2004! It was after I bought the 'Love Machine' vinyl. Since then I've amassed a rather large vinyl collection.
I started collecting Vinyls this year - Not all of them retro. There's something a lot more rewarding/satisfying about owning a vinyl compared to a CD.
Vinyls are great. I don't actually have a player any longer but I get them primarily because they're just so much more tactile and the attention to detail in the artwork and packaging is just that little bit more special.
The most recent is the 7" in the Years and Years boxset but my favourites are my David Bowie and Patrick Wolf vinyls. Oh and the Portishead ones from their Third era.
I'm very tempted to get a vinyl player. Can't help but think I'd play them more than CDs.
I have thousands of vinyl records and I'm enormously attached to them in a way I'm completely not attached to CD's.
I dont play them due to lack of time and space, but I am working on MP3 versions which are more convenient and often better-sounding than CD and download. Neil Young has just withdrawn his music from streaming as the sound-quality is so sh*tty. He felt the same about CD back in the day...
The claims about vinyl being of better sound quality than digital are simply untrue (no matter what Neil Young thinks) however it is certainly true that listening to cheaply decoded MP3 formats through £2 headphones isn't going to give as rich a listening experience as vinyl playing through some quality speakers/sound system.
I have a vinyl player and use it loads - this week I have been playing Jamie xx's album on repeat.
I also have some bespoke frames to frame my 12" singles and albums in on the wall in the lounge.
My vinyls:
NEW STUFF:
Jamie XX - In Colour
Purity Ring - Another Eternity (clear vinyl)
CHVRCHES - Under The Tide (RSD Black Friday 2014)
Florence & The Machine - What Kind Of Man (blue vinyl // RSD 2015)
SBTRKT - Wonder Where We Land
Bastille - Other People's Heartache, Vol. III (limited red vinyl)
Alt-J - This Is All Yours (green/red vinyl)
Hozier - Hozier
Tycho - Awake
Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga - Cheek to Cheek
Disclosure - Apollo (RSD 2014)
...and some old stuff. Looking out for Melanie's new album and Twenty One Pilots too. I ADORE vinyl.
Could people stop calling them vinyls!!!! If you need a plural word they're records. Otherwise it's vinyl. That's todays lesson in music format nomenclature.
I have about 60/70 records.
Much of it is 80s stuff. I've quite a few New Order singles on 12" and Lowlife and Technique also. I've Now 10,11,12,13,14,15,16,18 and Hits 6,7,8,10. Lots of PSB/Erasure/rave and trance.
I'd go a step further and say stop calling them 'vinyl' altogether. They were always records when it was the main format.
Me? I've got at least a thousand old records on the shelf in 7", 10" and 12" sizes. Not sure if my record player works though - it was a minimalist arty-farty one I bought about four years ago which might have not survived the house move we had last year. I need a new amp and speakers too.
Love it myself, latest record I purchased was The Chemical Bros last week and Major Lazer last month!
Got loads of vinyls, albums, 12" 7" and even coloured vinyls, got a record deck which is pretty ancient, it plays both sides without flipping it, the stylus goes under, but somehow I misplaced the speakers over the years, I think I took them to a car boot sale by mistake, as I thought they belong to something else.
Getting my TURNTABLE on Thursday
I've already bought The Beatles '1' album and second hand copies of Pet Shop Boys 'Actually' and The Human League's 'Dare' to break it in. I'm very excited!
Oh and while we're on the subject, it is a turntable, record deck or record player, not a vinyl player!
Last time I was at my parent's, I brought back my 7" collection. So many memories!
Apologies for the oversight. Duly edited
Tesco is joining the vinyl revolution
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/tesco-is-joining-the-vinyl-revolution-10481616.html
What does everyone make of this news?
Whilst I'm happy that vinyl sales are increasing at the moment, I am a little worried that supermarkets are trying to muscle in to a market that struggles to survive as it is and may end up putting a lot of small independent record shops out of business.
yes. The supermarkets killed off the record store (and the High Street generally) to a large degree. I don't want to see a piddling token amount of popular vinyl albums leaving the niche ones to the indies when they need a few name albums to draw people in. I went into Rough Trade in London and it was SO fab, just seeing racks of new vinyl and actual physical music.
Hopefully it's just a publicity stunt that won't catch on, the vast majority of people don't buy vinyl and Tesco can concentrate on toilet paper and dead animal factory slave products instead. Or buying in illegally-chopped rainforest timber products. Or screwing milk farmers.
These are facts according to some media sources....
A wee bit of good publicity for Tesco, a wee plug for Iron Maiden, a chance for middle-aged men to get misty-eyed over the copy of Now 11 they got from somebody for a birthday present once, a way to fill space in the Independent.
Not going to start a revolution or anything.
The saddest thing about records in shops now is that they've been sold alongside 12" picture frames for at least the last 10 years.
Most Recent Vinyl additions:
Foals - What Went Down
Lana Del Rey - Honeymoon (pre-order)
My record collecting was on halt this year, as my record player has been packed away since January when my room was completely redecorated. I've now got it back out earlier in the week and have resumed collecting as a result! Got Lana Del Rey - 'Born To Die' and Kendrick Lamar - 'Good Kid, M.A.A.D City' today from HMV, two of my favourite 2012 releases
Which records have you guys bought this year? ;o

Having vinyl I think has become a bit of a status symbol now.
my last vinyl purchase, 12" remix EP of Pet Shop Boys Inner Sanctum.
Last one I got was the Stranger Things soundtrack.
Yep - it's the red & blue one pictured on this page:
http://coloredvinylrecords.com/new-releases/kyle-dixon-michael-stein-stranger-things-vol-1
It is fab, even if I do say so myself!
Cool!
One of my favourite vinyl purchases is Now 22 - quite rare on vinyl as the format was rapidly losing popularity by then (1992) in a dusty charity shop in Oxford. Think it was back in 2009. Cost was £1.
A few days ago the same album sold on eBay for £35.
^ Ooh! I have Now 1-10 and 16 on vinyl and would love some of the 20s ones. Good find!!
Quickly popped into a charity shop while waiting for the bus in hope of a good find today. In amongst lots of brass compilations, I did find a 7" 'Do The Bartman' record
I wonder if that's my Simpsons record? I sold my copy on in about 1993!
My most recent addition was Rumours by Fleetwood Mac which was only 11 quid!
Does anyone else try and buy authentic originals when in second hand shops? Other than the date how do you know it's the original and not a rerelease like a lot of Beatles tracks in the 80s etc?
Recent vinyl additions:
Shimon and Andy C - Mutation/Genetix 12" (from my local Scope on Tuesday)
Pink Floyd - The Wall [2016 180gm vinyl reissue] (got that as a name day gift on Tuesday [one of the best albums I ever heard next to The Beatles' Abbey Road])
The xx - On Hold [single-sided 7" with etching on side B] (7" from my local record store on Friday. I have both of xx's albums on vinyl, and I can't wait for the next album )
Flume - Skin Companion EP 1 (bought that along with the xx 7" from my record store. My favourite tracks from the EP are Trust and Heater)
David Bowie - Blackstar (My favourite album of the year, so it was nice to receive that as a birthday gift)
Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker (Another birthday gift. This will be placed really high on my upcoming Best Albums of 2016 list. Shame that he passed away )
The Who - Be Lucky [RSD2015 blue vinyl] (My friend gave me this beauty as a gift for my birthday. The design for the 7" is really cool, because it looks like that mod symbol)
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon [2016 180gm vinyl reissue] (Yet another birthday gift. I remember seeing a secondhand copy of this in a Sue Ryder shop months ago, when I bought Black's Wonderful Life LP to pay tribute ro the late singer Colin Vearcombe, but the LP cost £40 [they somehow knew that this record would be valuable])
I also managed to get a few CDs [Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill and Oasis' Sunday Morning Call (minimax CD single)]
Recent vinyl additions:
Foals - Miami 7"
Siouxsie And The Banshees - Fireworks 7"
Ultravox - We Came To Dance (clear 7")

CHVRCHES - Every Open Eye (white vinyl)
New Order - Crystal (Bedrock Remixes) [promo 12"]
NZCA Lines - Infinite Summer (orange vinyl)
Emerson Lake And Palmer - self-titled album (repress)
Was in the big Sainsburys near us earlier which used to be a Savacentre. They've a lot of vinyl and was talking to the lass re-stocking and she says it's selling quite well, especially Rumours, Pink Floyd and one or two other oldies. Bit expensive though compared to the equivalent CD. Rumours for example was a fiver for the CD and the LP was £12. Maybe they need to drop the price by a quid or two.
DELETED. Double post.
£12 is a good price for me when buying newly-pressed vinyl.
My maximum great value would have to be £19.99
£20-£25 (e.g. Tame Impala albums, Blondie's Plastic Letters on picture disc, The Maccabees' Colour It In, Bat For Lashes' The Bride) (okay)
£26 and above (e.g. Bastille's Wild World, The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs [10" boxset]) (too much, I shall only buy if I really want it)
For 7-inches (the maximum price for me would have to be 9.99. But 12.99 would also be acceptable)
For 10-inches (the maximum price for me would have to be 14.99.)
For 12-inch singles (the maximum price for me would have to be, like with the 10-inches, 14.99. If it's something 19.99, like Massive Attack's The Spoils 12", or a higher price than that, like Run-DMC's Christmas In Hollis [Black Friday exclusive picture disc, £22.99(?)], I would have to think wisely and decide if I really want it)
Yeah £12 is great for a vinyl!
I see them mostly £20-£25.
Definitely worth spending the extra money for what you get compared to a CD.
I treated myself to a deck this year, a Project Debut with carbon arm, fantastic deck.
My most recent purchases of vinyl are:
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Welcome To The Pleasuredome (white vinyl)
Madonna - True Blue (blue vinyl)
Madonna - Like A Prayer (red vinyl)
Manic Street Preachers - Everything Must Go (blue vinyl)
Next purchase will be Peter Gabriel's So album (remastered)
I don't tend to hunt down 'old records' and am perfectly happy with represses as long as they sound good!
Got The Chronic by Dr Dre for £11 in Head!
A record store in Belfast - think it's a chain though!
Got The xx - 'xx', The xx - 'Coexist' and Christine and The Queens - 'Chaleur Humaine' for Christmas Plus picked up James Blake - 'The Colour in Anything' while in London last week.
Shall try and post a few pictures of my collection so far at some point as it's slowly growing
Recent vinyl additions include:
Brian Eno & David Byrne - My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts (Greek pressing)
Vampire Weekend - Contra
Make Model - The Was 7"
C Duncan - For (Autumn Rebuild) [orange 7"}

George Michael - One More Try 7" [RIP]

Dead Or Alive - Hooked On Love 7" [RIP Pete Burns]
Lou Reed - Coney Island Baby (1975 US pressing)
Amy Winehouse - Frank (2015 180gm vinyl repress)
Where did you get the wham and George Michael singles on vinyl?
Hey was wondering if any of you guys could give some advice. I'm wanting to buy a turntable and was wondering if anyone could reccommend anything decent?
I was looking at this and its within my price range. Also any decent speakers that could go with a product like this?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Audio-Technica-AT-LP60USB-AT-LP60-USB-Turntable/dp/B00EUSMFPQ/ref=pd_vtph_23_tr_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=JM5NHVYAZDX9CZRWQE0K
I was going to buy a Crosley with the build speakers etc because its cheaper but after reading reviews and stuff they aren't particularly well praised. Thanks!
Not sure if I would recommend Crosley!
A really good player would be the Ion Audio Max LP (look it up
I have an Auna Classic Prono which has always done me well, classic look so fits in well as a piece of furniture in the living room - has a white finish and a radio on the front too. Don't have speakers but the sound is fine!
Yeah do not bother with Crosley, got one in 2015 and it ruined my records, not to mention the sound is horribly quiet and tinny!
How much are you thinking of spending?
The Sony PS-HX500 is excellent as it sounds great but also allows you to make digital copies of your vinyl.
Don't know about that specific Turntable but I can recommend Audio Technica as a brand, I've got some fantastic AT headphones and a very decent AT Mic.
HMV had a sale on when I walked past today and Amy Winehouse - 'Back To Black' was only £11.99 so couldn't resist
I own a vinyl copy of Frank, but I might consider buying Back To Black on vinyl sometime, even though I own it on CD
Thanks for all the advice and response guys! Went with the one I posted in the end and its suited me really well. I'm so happy with my little setup.
Discogs good for buying stuff? I got Kendrick Lamar - How To Pimp A Butterfly on record and its wonderful. Also got the Back to Black for 11.99 like Jade!
Might check that Back to Boack album offer too - classic albums on vinyl are my thing!!

Various Artists - Ambient Dub Volume 1: The Big Chill (went back to the same charity shop the next day to get the rest of the Spacemen 3 batch, only to find that it has already been sold. 😍😍😍
I was recently bought a record player as a present and I now have the following:
Welcome to the vinyl world Emily!
Haven't purchased anything since last posting - although I'm getting married at the end of the year so I haven't a lot of cash to spare these days!!
I'm trying to buy fewer records, but the collector in me keeps fighting back. I bought a recent press of the Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed the other day, to replace my old copy, which had warped a little. The replacement turned out to be in stereo, and Let It Bleed is one of those albums which just sounds horrible in stereo. Taking it back. Online, I recently ordered Mick Ronson's Slaughter on 10th Avenue. I love that record so much, it's crazy to believe that I haven't owned a playable copy for years. Discogs seller says "NM". We'll see.
Status update: the postie did not bring my record. Instead I got ugly socks from my mother. A poor substitute.
The Beatles - 'Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane' has been added to the Record Store Day 2017 releases list so you can imagine my happiness as they're my favourite band Those shall get snapped up pretty quickly though I imagine, better get there early.
Latest addition to my record collection is Melanie Martinez - 'Cry Baby' which arrived in the post today
My recent additions:
London Grammar - Big Picture 7" (from my local record store)
The Beatles - The Decca Tapes (clear vinyl) (received as a gift)
Bloc Party/The Futureheads - Like Eating Glass (Black Strobe Remix)/Decent Days And Nights (Shy Child Remix) [10" picture disc] (bought from Oxfam.)

M - Pop Muzik 7" (bought from an H&D charity shop)
Slipstreem - We Are Raving (The Anthem) 7" (also from an H&D charity shop)
Young Fathers feat. Leith Congregation Choir - Only God Knows [single sided 7"] (from my local record store)
The new Aimee Mann arrived today with lovely cut out artwork and a bright magenta vinyl.
I love Aimee
My records showed up today! Slaughter on 10th Avenue and some Mott the Hoople singles. I also got two LPs from the charity shop, the Monkees' self-titled and a David Bowie compilation.
I picked up a Johnny Cash compilation and a 180g reissue of Sticky Fingers for £7 each at Flying Tiger. They have records in from time to time.
There used to be an ice cream shop in Dawlish called Sticky Fingers (named after said album). Not sure if it's there anymore though..
The bike shop incidentally is called Breaking Wind and my trusty steed was bought from said establishment!
I want to get Sticky Fingers on vinyl but it has to be the one with the actual zip on it (which involves pulling down the zip to reveal the legs on the cover in underwear)
My recent vinyl finds are Willie J Healey's Greys on clear 7" vinyl and Roots Manuva's Run Come Save Me LP (the latter of which I found in Oxfam)

Anyone else get anything for record store day today? I got to my record store at about 10am which I figured out was a bit too late. Obviously didn't get my hands on The Beatles and sadly not Deee-Lite or Manic Street Preachers either. But I diiiiid get:
- Little Mix - 'Glory Days' (feat. neon pink vinyl *.* was the last one left)
- Ryo Kawasaki - 'Selected Works Part 2 - 1976 - 1980' (apparently I was the first person to ask for this, discovered him through my BJSC 80s spinoff entry 'Hawaiian Caravan')
- The Buggles - 'Video Killed The Radio Star' (had to get a cheesy but brilliant one in there)
- Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - 'El Mexicano' picture disc (they had 40% off stuff from RSD 2015 and 2016, so I picked this up from that selection)
oh I wish I had the space to buy more vinyl, I literally had to stop as there is no more room in the tiny bedroom I basically live in - and I managed to squeeze 6000+ records and cd's in there before the floor disappeared

^ I approve of your Beatles purchase *.* I need to re-purchase Sgt. Pepper's at some point, my grandad gave a duplicate copy to me but one of the records is missing
Got Lana Del Rey - 'Ultraviolence' today! So just 'Honeymoon' left now from her discography that I don't own on vinyl.
I'm going to get a record player soon but I've already bought my first vinyl.
I got Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman of course. It's beautiful
My Radiohead OKNOTOK box arrived today!
And easily becomes my most expensive vinyl to date, still it was worth it. Maybe.
Now need to find myself a cassette player for the mixtape!
Added Kraftwerk - 'Man Machine' to the collection today the guy who served me patronisingly said "are you buying this for yourself?? " yes m8 x
My other half always buys an album on vinyl, not just on CD; he likes to get it on every format there is. Last year he got Biffy Clyro's previous album on vinyl and then did the same with "Puzzle" on this extra-thick release of the album on Record Store Day 2015. It was a tougher material than usual and had an extra track from the CD version.
I have my own collection of vinyl, but it's a waste of money having two copies of the same thing in the flat!.
Been going on eBay quite a lot buying 80s vinyl of stuff that's never been put to CD yet, we are both after a new turntable because we only use a USB jobby at the moment and the stylus is a cheap ceramic thing, meaning the sound isn't exactly the best it can be.
I wonder if anyone can answer this for me...
I have a Bush Classic turntable which I bought after returning my Crosley Cruiser because the sound is incredibly distorted. BUT, my Bush turntable has exactly the same problem with sound distortion where vocal just sounds really fuzzy and unpleasant... it's really off-putting trying to listen to vinyls when this happens with near enough every song that plays! Does anyone have the same or similar turntable? From what I've read online it's something to do with the needle arm, but on such basic models the weight of this cannot be adjusted... Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Is anyone noticing artists getting out their vinyls on time is becoming increasingly difficult? Beyonce, Lorde, Katy Perry, Haim, Lana Del Rey and Calvin Harris all have their vinyls coming out months after release...
Yeah I've noticed that! So annoying. I wonder why it is?
I don't bother with CDs these days but I would've bought Lorde and HAIM's vinyls on release week, had they been released...
I ended up getting HAIM's 'Days Are Gone' last week in the end instead because I'd been meaning to get that for a while anyway.
I really want to start collecting vinyl. I love the size of the artwork!

Love that you can get the artwork in different languages on their store 😍 I've gone for Chinese, far prefer it to the standard English one. I want them all though </3
I very nearly went for the language edition too but was seduced by the night version with the opaque blue vinyl.
I just recently started collecting vinyl! I've only got 3 albums so far, but I'm gonna be growing my collection over time~
Right now, I just have:
- Lana Del Rey - Born to Die
- Harry Styles - Harry Styles
- Weezer - Pinkerton
I'm hoping to get Madonna's COADF album, Britney's Glory album, Amy's Back to Black, Nirvana's Nevermind, as well as the rest of Lana's discography on vinyl. Obviously others as well, but these are my main wants atm.
Travis, I very much recommend getting Amy Winehouse's Back to Black, it just sounds so good on vinyl!
Just added 4 new albums to my collection!
Amy Winehouse - Back to Black
Lady Gaga - Joanne
Panic! At The Disco - Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die

Can I take a moment to point out the irony of my order of the orange vinyl of Everything Now single being delayed by weeks to ship at the same time as the album!
I want everything next month, I need everything next month.
3 of Avril Lavigne's albums are being released on vinyl for the first time in limited editions.

I was hoping to buy Lorde's 'Melodrama' on vinyl this month but I have no idea what's happening with the release date
Soooo I ended up getting Beyoncé - 'Lemonade' today! The factor that swayed me between that, Lana and Green Day was the limited edition yellow records *.*
I've currently got 8th December for Lorde
Ahh thank you Lewis! I read a while back that it was coming in October but checked HMV recently and it just says 'coming soon', so that explains it.
My recent purchase was an original pressing of Daft Punk's Homework.
From the secondhand bin of a record store for just £20

I have already bought a vinyl in the form of 'Atlas' by FM-84 this month anyway! *.* He is a synthwave producer that I sent to BJSC last year. 500 copies were released a few months ago but I missed out so thankfully snatched one up during this second opportunity.
First vinyl purchase in a year -
Now Christmas album (the original one from 1985). I've had it on cassette and grew up listening to it so to find it on vinyl is brillant - funny they've omitted Gary Glitter and added Chris Rea!
For Black Friday, I'm hoping to snag a 12" of Danger Mouse's Chase Me from one of my favourite films of the year Baby Driver. The Kills - Black Rooster 10" and U2's The Blackout 12" are some backup ideas in case my record store is no longer stocking the Chase Me vinyl.

I received my Christmas presents from Bray a few days early, as we aren't going to be together on Christmas day and wanted to open them in front of each other. My main present from him is a limited edition Francis and the Lights - 'Farewell, Starlite!' vinyl! such a fantastic present, can't wait to give it a spin. <3 I think that's the third Jadakissnia BJSC artist that I own a record by now *.*
Mentioned this in the Lounge but I primarily ended up getting vinyl for Christmas! Aside from the aforementioned Francis record, I also got:
- Avril Lavigne - 'Let Go' (white vinyl)

- Avril Lavigne - 'The Best Damn Thing' (pink vinyl)

The Avril records are absolutely https://www.instagram.com/p/BdH5mughFJD/?taken-by=jade_williams_97, I shall forever be a sucker for pretty coloured vinyl. I'm so impressed that my parents remembered me mentioning the release of these limited edition records back in summer! Three great albums on top of those as well. My Lana collection is just missing 'Honeymoon' now!
Cool!
Recent additions:
The Durutti Column - A Paean To Wilson (2017 blue vinyl repress. Birthday gift from one of my friends. Fun Fact: That 'friend' I mentioned also worked on a Durutti Column fanzine)

Superorganism - Something For Your MIND 7" (etched B side)
A mystery 7" bundle consisting of the following:
Any good vinyl in the sales?
Got Paramore - 'Brand New Eyes' and Kendrick Lamar - 'DAMN.' (courtesy of Bray!) at HMV in London the other day *.* going to slow down a bit now after getting so many records in December, although I will endeavour to get 'Melodrama' at some point now it's available on Lorde's website!
Went to a record fair and got Wild Beasts' Reach A Bit Further on tri-color 12" vinyl.
I also went to a Barnardo's store and got two Pet Shop Boys LPs (Introspective and Discography). The latter I got for £4.99 (it was £18 on Discogs)
Finally started my collection with Britney - "Glory" and Mariah - "Butterfly" from HMV Now to find something to play them on...
First records I've ever bought, I'm in love with them
Yay No Sleeep *.* welcome to the vinyl world! I would recommend anything but a Crosley record player, that was my first one and it often damaged some of my records, a shame when they look so aesthetically pleasing.
Anyway, I got a new record player today and it's absolutely beautiful
This is the first time I have ever had speakers with one as well so that has enhanced the listening experience too *.*
I haven't bought any records since 2017 but I'm thinking about getting 'Spice' off Amazon as I still have a £20 voucher to spend from Christmas!
That's lovely Jade, good colour vinyl too!
I still haven't actually bought a turntable, despite buying a few vinyls to play on it when I do eventually get one.
What a wonderful record player you got there!!
What's the red LP you have, Jade?
(I'm guessing Under My Skin from the X on the label)
Yay for you guys liking the record player too *.* it looks so nice against my white furniture!
That is indeed Avril's 'Under My Skin' record, Dalek! So in love with all of her coloured ones.

This is the emoticon I use when I hear the news of Arctic Monkeys' first studio album being pressed on colored vinyl by Vinyl Me Please:
This is the emoticon I use when I realize that I don't have a Vinyl Me Please account or subscription:
Got my first vinyl since december this weekend - David Bowies 1972 release Ziggy Stardust, looking forward to hearing it only heard the singles like Rebel rebel before!!
Just discovered this thread and great to see so many others buying the format. I grew up with records and still have most of them. Still like to buy the occasional new release and also fill in some gaps in my collection through discogs and a couple of local shops. Most recent purchases have been some of the Hits compilation series that was introduced as a rival to the Now series. Not too much on the Record Store Day list that I'm after apart from the first vinyl release in 24 years from Shakin' Stevens.
What's Shaky releasing? Watch a Christmas 82 totp episode tonight where he performs Blue Christmas which was good.
Yeh good luck with it. When is record store day?
Local shop has ordered in 4 copies so I have a chance if they get any. Failing that there's a more general release on black vinyl later with fan club members getting first oportunity to buy.
Managed to get a 12" of The Charlatans' 1990 single Them from Oxfam for just 99p
A little over a week until Record Store Day *.* I've been using Hans Zimmer / Jacob Shea / David Fleming - 'Blue Planet II' as background music for dissertation writing today and the whole album is just perfect for this sort of thing. Adding it to my RSD wish-list for sure!
Didn't realise this thread was a thing
I've been getting into vinyl recently - my most recent purchase was the remastered 'Unknown Pleasures' vinyl by Joy Division, I had to get it for the incredible artwork alone *.*
Fingers crossed I can get my hands on the Mac DeMarco and Dermot Kennedy vinyls, I bought the original 12" of 'This Old Dog' from HMV at Christmas so having the demos too would be great. Also SUPER interested in the original Joy Division vinyls being released!!
meh I did not have you pegged as a Joy Division fan! Great taste!
Omg that said mdh first but leaving it as it’s amused me!
Went to a Sounds Of The Universe shop in Soho and I bought a copy of Django Django's Marble Skies on marbled vinyl
What I managed to get yesterday: David Bowie - Aladdin Sane (45th anniversary silver vinyl)
What I managed to get today:
Glass Animals - ZABA (not an exclusive item, but a reduced vinyl. 22.99 to 16.99)
Small Faces - Lazy Sunday (yellow 7")
Led Zeppelin - Rock & Roll (yellow 7")
Arrived at my local record shop at 8:30 this year (after going at about 10:30 last year and most stuff being snapped up) and waited in a queue for an hour, as so many people were there (yep even in Northampton ) and they only had one till as normal.
I got:
Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Right Now (CamelPhat Remix)
Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea & David Fleming - Blue Planet II soundtrack (blue vinyl, of course!)
Max Richter - The Blue Notebooks (also blue vinyl )
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - It's A Beautiful World (monochrome vinyl)
Sigrid - Don't Kill My Vibe EP (red vinyl)
So a great little haul this year *.* in addition to these, I also bought Lorde - 'Melodrama' on vinyl as it's finally available at HMV and I had a 15% off voucher! Bank balance has taken a bit of a hit today so I might have to wait until my 21st birthday in August to purchase/receive any more but I'm more than satisfied with this lot in the meantime.
Lucky you getting the red Sigrid vinyl!!
Got Shaky (2 copies - 1 to play, 1 backup)! And The Undertones 7" box set and The Waterfront 12". And on cassette I got AC/DC - Back In Black.
And 2 non RSD titles arrived in the post - Christy Moore - On The Road (3LP) and the new one from Chas & Dave.
I thought I'd post my Vinyl collection! I'd be interested to see your lists too!
My list looks pretty excessive (and I wouldn't like to work out how much all of this cost, lol) but in terms of storage it doesn't actually take up much space! I store all of the 12" records in two of these boxes: https://www.getinthemix.com/accessories/equipment-cases-bags/vinyl-record-storage/glorious-record-box-advanced-white-110.htm and half of one of them still has free space. The 7" singles don't take up much space either.
Unless otherwise stated, they're just ordinary black vinyl.
If I've not written a year next to a certain title, it means it came out in the same year that I bought it. (Btw I searched my email account to remember when I purchased some of these; my memory isn't that good! )

HMV will be hosting a special vinyl week from 8th June to 17th June.
Special releases include:
Liam Gallagher - As You Were (picture disc)
Siouxsie And The Banshees - Juju (gold vinyl)
The Proclaimers - Sunshine On Leith (green vinyl)
OST - Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels (yellow w/ black splatter) [first vinyl release since 1998, where it was released as part of Simply Vinyl's S180 series. The Simply Vinyl release is being sold on Discogs for £139.40, so if you're a fan of both LSATSB and vinyl, this might be perfect for you)
All of these look great. Might either go for Liam or Siouxsie
Bought Taylor Swift's '1989' today to celebrate finishing University and belatedly for my dissertation result. Her best album for sure
I’ve been buying vinyl again since March using amazon bonus vouchers from work. Have got all my Britpop faves from the 90s and now working my way through more recent albums like the xx and Coldplay. Jake bugg coming this week!
More releases confirmed for hmv vinyl week:
T-Rex - Tanx (pink etched vinyl)
Mamma Mia! Soundtrack (picture disc) [the only other vinyl release of this soundtrack was a 2017 Barnes & Noble exclusive. Copy of this B&N release has a Discogs price range from £31-£71)
OMD - History Of Modern (orange vinyl) [you might want to get this, OMD fans. It's limited to 500 copies and other existing vinyl releases of this cost a lot on Discogs]
Stereophonics - Best Of Stereophonics: Decade in the Sun (gold vinyl)
Def Leppard - Vault: Def Leppard's Greatest Hits 1980-1995 (clear vinyl)
Those last two have vinyl releases that have been out of print for a long time.

I picked up Safe In The Hands of Love by Yves Tumor which is a brilliant LP. : )
Finally got round to posting a video of my coloured vinyl collection if any of you guys are interested!
Went to HMV Cardiff today, a better selection than I usually find in Chester.
I got:
The Killers-Hot Fuss (there’s loads of these in Chester but it was on sale for £12.99)
P!nk-Try This (£5 off I think because the sleeve was a little bit knocked about)
Maroon 5-Songs About Jane (full price but I haven’t been able to find this ANYWHERE)
I'm waiting for my copy of Aimee Mann's 'Magnolia' soundtrack to arrive on coloured vinyl, there was an offer on Mondo where you could save the postage costs which seemed worthwhile given it's usually extortionate to receive a vinyl box set from the US! It was the first album I ever bought by her and kickstarted my love of her and her music, I'm really looking forward to it arriving
Recently managed to get:
Ex:Re - Ex:Re
Sleaford Mods - Eton Alive (blue vinyl)
Candy Says - Not Kings
Foals - Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 1 (collector's edition boxset with violet vinyl of the album and etched 7" of Exits)
Foals - I'm Done With The World (Demo) [Q Mag exclusive flexi disc]
Just the one purchase today as I’m trying to tighten my belt.
Dido-Still On My Mind
Gorgeous album.
Got three new records yesterday!
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
Little Mix - LM5
Rosalía - El mal querer
Three very different records but all welcome additions!
(also, I uploaded a video today talking about my Record Store Day 2019 wishlist - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMyaL4TV4IA it is if anyone's interested)
Bought five 7-inches from charity shopping:
Saw Urban Outfitters have Britney Spears Hit and Baby One More Time single on vinyl. Was tempted to purchase but it was priced at 15 quid!!
Managed to get Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody (purple/yellow 7") and The Prodigy's Fight Fire With Fire/Champions Of London (double 7") for Record Store Day
Two RSD puirchases this morning! Grandmaster Flash - The Message (double album) and the Aha - Hunting High & Low Alternative Mixes. And a signed copy of the new album from Irish band Walking On Cars arrived in the post.
I managed to get the Air - Surfing On A Rocket picture disc from RSD
Recent buys:
The Twilight Sad "Nobody Wants To Be Here And Nobody Wants To Leave"
The Twilight Sad "It Won't Be Like This All The Time"
The Smiths "Hatful Of Hollow"
XTC "Senses Working Overtime [Single]"
Rex Orange County "Apricot Princess"
SZA "Ctrl"
I failed miserably on record store day to get a copy of the Robyn album
I went to Rough Trade East as we were in London for the concert and I had not anticipated the queues!
I did however manage to get a copy of The Chemical Brothers 'Dig Your Own Hole' on silver vinyl which is lovely - one of my all time favourite albums and covers too.
Yesterday I picked up KT Tunstall’s Eye To The Telescope.
Finally got round to playing the Billy Connolly vinyls that my dad gave to me. They've been stored in the loft for years so wasn't sure how they'd play but so far so good.
This one was released in 1976 and cost £1.60!
Found myself walking out of Rough Trade with a copy of the Vampire Weekend album. Also got a copy of the Rufus Wainwright album 'Poses' last month after seeing him perform it in Birmingham.
Ooh lovely to see a vinyl thread 👍 Anybody based in the Dorset area pop in and see me, I run Rosered Records in Boscombe, near Bournemouth 😊 Have amassed quite a collection over the years, my tastes are all over the place - been trying to find Solange's new album on vinyl but have been going through an 80's phase so have been filling in some Prefab Sprout and Style Council shaped gaps!
And it’s arrived and genuine, still wrapped! I’m over the moon It was free postage too, feel I got a real bargain.
Also bought the deluxe of the National album. The colour of the yellow vinyl is gorgeous
need to try to find that National album too
just bought Phoebe Bridgers - Stranger in the Alps, cannot wait for it to arrive
I've been on a bit of an online spree today as I'm looking to get a few older favourites into my collection:
Suede - Suede (gold vinyl edition)
Tori Amos - Under the Pink (pink vinyl edition)
Amy Winehouse - Back To Black (white vinyl edition)
Madonna - Confessions on a Dance Floor (pink vinyl edition)
Madonna - Immaculate Collection
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
David Bowie - Legacy
Plus pre-ordered the forever delayed Mezzanine box set from Massive Attack - fingers crossed it does actually materialise next month!
Also - I really must actually buy a record player at some point!
Managed to add the 45th anniversary red vinyl edition of David Bowie's Diamond Dogs to my collection. Really good album, and I like the dystopian 1984 influence most of the songs carry.
The blue vinyl edition of Lorde's Melodrama arrived this morning. That cover is just so beautiful.
Went to Liverpool today and did a vinyl spree.
Arctic Monkeys-Humbug
Kate Bush-Never Forever
P!nk-M!ssundaztood
Anyone loking for the Kate Bush album box sets should try HMV - they had both reduced from £90 to £45 in the Belfast branch today.
I finally succumbed and bought Chaleur Humaine today as they had the original French album on blue vinyl in Rough Trade.
(ps the Kate Bush price sounds a bargain! )
Kate Bush is even cheaper on Amazon now!
http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/deal/deal-alert-kate-bush-box-set-bargains/?fbclid=IwAR2bKBBbZJfr3QcppBm0YGJnipNItOPRiVu7_J6OeGUTKgdlN-5e97hr16k
Yes I noticed that too. Was going to buy but then I realised Th Dreaming and Hounds of Love are annoyingly not in the same set and they’re by far my two favourites of hers.
I’m aiming to get my first ever vinyl with Melodrama as I see it is only £13 in HMV’s vinyl week! From pictures I see Babel is also only £10!
Never really thought I’d get into the vinyl phenomenon but I actually feel quite interested to some for albums I really LOVE if I can find them at decent prices.
A fabulous choice of first ever vinyl *.*
Just bought them both, I’ve always loved both album covers and they look even more glorious in vinyl. Melodrama in particular is stunning
I bought 2 Doves albums today - so glad they are finally out on vinyl.
Which two did you go for? Lost Souls and The Last Broadcast?
And Klaus, yes!!!! The cover of Melodrama really is absolutely stunning
Yes, they're the two I went for also. I never really got into Some Cities, even though I thought Black and White Town was an excellent single.
I've succumbed and bought the clear vinyl of Madonna's new album, even though I suspect I may not end up liking it. Also got the vinyl of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness as I saw it on eBay for £40 and it's by far the cheapest I've seen it recently.
Oh so apparently the M C a t I S vinyl is likely to be a fake/bootleg! I had no idea buying vinyl could be such a minefield.
I've asked to cancel the order but not holding out much hope!
That’s a cracking album, shame if it’s s fake
Picked up these 2 today.
The Killers-Sam’s Town
P!nk-Hurts 2B Human
So I’ve now picked up a genuine copy of Mellon Collie, the reissue of the Stardust single (great memories of this track) and the Janet and Velvet Rope albums from Ms Jackson - 90s Janet was sooooo good
Florence has released a 10th anniversary edition of Lungs, definitely need this

Bought myself a record player yesterday and bought Bastille’s ‘Doom Days’.
Here’s what I have being delivered
Lily Allen - Sheezus
Lorde - Melodrama
Ellie Goulding - Lights
Melodrama truly uniting all on Buzzjack
Oooops just splurged £250 on a Placebo back catalogue bundle on eBay!
Bought Arctic Monkey’s ‘AM’ on vinyl today! Got 15% off too in HMV which was a bonus.
I haven't updated this in a while (also still need to post in the vinyl collection thread, will do eventually ) but off the top of my head I've bought the following in recent times:
Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman
Ariana Grande - thank u, next
Billie Eilish - WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?
Spandau Ballet - True
Taylor Swift - ME! (feat. Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco) - this single still hasn't arrived yet, will probably turn up next month
Whitney Houston - Whitney
The Spandau Ballet and Whitney records were purchased in a vintage shop! Everything else was from HMV except the limited edition Taylor 7", which I decided to purchase from her website at the time. There's a 12 week wait on it so my initial love for the song has passed but I do still look forward to it turning up!
Trying to avoid buying any records for the next month or so as it's my birthday in August and they're my most common presents usually!
My recent vinyl addition was New Boots And Panties by Ian Dury (A Netherlands misprint with a spelling mistake on the B side).
Currently on the hunt for EDEN - I Think You Think Too Much Of Me and it’s painful
Scored this haul today

Got myself A Perfect Contradiction by Paloma Faith yesterday.
Forgot to post this at the time - got James Blake - 'Assume Form' (dark green vinyl) and Spice Girls - 'Greatest Hits' (picture disc) for my birthday also ordered the 12" clear vinyl of Ariana Grande feat. Social House - 'boyfriend' the other night but that's not being shipped until December
That Assume Form vinyl looks like a great add to your collection.
I've accidentally added Blume by Nérija to my collection.
Apparently I ordered it online last week and I appear to have paid for it so thought I may as well pick it up from the shop.
I’ve just got Christine & the Queens - Chaleur Humaine (Clear Vinyl) which I’m very happy about. It comes with a CD too but I already have it on CD!
Aiming to get the 10th anniversary of Lungs this month too
My copy of the 10th Anniversary deluxe has just been shipped!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *.*.*.*
So I just treated myself to the clothbound version of ‘O’.
Sorry if this is a stupid question but what's a clothbound edition?
Not at all! It’s just a version that comes in a book style format with a cloth cover like the original cd did before it became popular.
You can see one here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Super-Rare-Damien-Rice-O-Deluxe-Vinyl-Limited-to-1000-Worldwide/123812506203?hash=item1cd3ccea5b:g:tHcAAOSwF~1cztkM
Ps I didn’t pay that much btw!!!
Oh cool, looks really nice actually, well worth whatever the investment was I would reckon.
I hope so! I'll never sell it mind, it's one of my favourite ever albums and I was gutted when I read the email announcing its release only to find it had already sold out.
A classic album for me too!
Managed to pick up lots of vinyl this summer:
LP's:
The Cure - Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
New Order - Republic
Oasis - Definitely Maybe (25th anniversary silver vinyl)
Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
Singles/EP's:
Audio Bullys - We Don't Care (single-sided white 7")
The Coral - In The Morning 7" (one of my faves from them along with Dreaming Of You and Chasing The Tail Of A Dream)
Erasure - Chorus 7"
Erasure - Always 7"
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Two Tribes 7"
Jesus Jones - International Bright Young Thing 7"
The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu - It's Grim Up North 12"
LCD Soundsystem - Drunk Girls 12"
Pop Will Eat Itself - 92° F/The Incredible PWEI Vs Dirty Harry 7"
Red Hot Chili Peppers - four of their non-album 7-inches from 2012/2013 that would later appear on their I'm Beside You compilation (Magpies On Fire, Never Is A Long Time, This Is The Kit, In Love Dying)
The Rolling Stones - She's A Rainbow (Live) (2019 RSD exclusive yellow 10")
The Vaccines - Teenage Icon 7"
glad you got the O deluxe! For me it's the #1 album in the history of music, I've bought it so many times, I've lost count, I think I have 5 or 6 CDs all slightly different (the Japanese version, the French one etc)... I got both the normal and the deluxe/cloth on release... crazy how high it ended up on eBay... if I knew, I could have bought a few even on tour last summer there were always some of the deluxe available and I could have bought some to sell later hahaha
incidentally, seeing Damien live this coming Friday in Cork, in what looks like his only gig this year! cannot wait
Got Lana's brand new album in lime green earlier in the week and also picked up 'Paradise' today! Just need 'Honeymoon' now to complete my Lana collection
Yay for adding the Oasis album to your collection Dalek - my brother bought a 25th anniversary picture disc I believe!
I saw the 25th edition vinyl of Definitely Maybe today and was tempted to buy but was super expensive and had to pass :/ if only vinyls were cheaper... saw so many that I'd love to have today...
Interesting to see what albums people have on the most formats...
Off the top of my head, I think mine is probably OK Computer as I've got it twice on CD formats and twice on vinyl formats.
Just double-checked and "only" have 6 copies of O, 4 CDs and 2 vinyls but all different... even the "cloth" CD, there are slightly different versions...
I also got 3 copies of his last album My Favourite Faded Fantasy, the vinyl and 2 different CDs... one of the CDs comes in a limited wooden box that is super nice...
One album I bought many times was Tori Amos - Strange Little Girls cos she released 4 or 5 different album covers, didn't buy them all... but sure at least I got 3
talking of O, when to see Damien live in Cork and they still sell the cloth version vinyl for just 75 euros...
so anyone could just buy 1 just for selling it 5 times more expensive on eBay
You should have got another one!
Don't buy vinyl but notice O is mentioned a lot. Have never heard it or owned it. Maybe I should but re3ad reviews that say it's boring with no stand-out tracks.
O sure has its highlights that everybody knows like Cannonball and The blowers daughter, also Delicate, which wasn't even a single and Volcano
they've been featured in lots of movies and tv shows, and of course Little Mix disastrously covered Cannonball
it's the opposite of boring and I'd say all 10 tracks are a 10/10 for me with no weak song
that said, it's not an album for everybody, this is not a collection of happy chippy chappy songs
but rather about f***ing up relationships and not knowing what to do with your life, which many of us can relate too
its classic singer-songwriter stuff, songs coming from the guts, real stuff not songs cowritten with Steve Mac or Ryan Tedder
Had a vinyl haul in my local independent record store Spun Out today *.*
I couldn't resist this:
- Lana Del Rey - Norman F***ing Rockwell (limited edition blue vinyl)
Then got a bunch of dance singles from the second hand house section:
- Basement Jaxx - Jump N' Shout
- Basement Jaxx - Oh My Gosh
- Chocolate Puma - I Wanna Be U
- Jean Jacques Smoothie - 2 People
- Room 5 - Make Luv (feat. Oliver Cheatham)
Those Basement Jaxx vinyl look like great adds to your collection.
I know right? the manager of the record store said he'd order in a 'The Singles' vinyl for me also, so I'll finally own that soon!
2 People ❤️
Just listened to "O" since it gets mentioned so much in here, and I mean it's alright, just feels a bit sappy and melodramatic at times.
His voice sounds pretty much identical to Ed Sheeran's lol
Got the following off my parents for my birthday!
Kate Bush-Aerial
Stereophonics-Just Enough Education To Perform
And I’ve been shopping today and completed my Arctic Monkeys collection with a Suck It And See.
just read that David Gray is planning to release White Ladder for the first time ever on vinyl
that's great news, one of the best albums ever
---
David Gray
2020 marks the 20th anniversary of White Ladder's big breakthrough year. The moment when, propelled by the springboard of our Irish success, the record began to climb up the charts all over the world, going on to sell millions of copies and transforming each of our lives in the process. It was a remarkable time and a kind of fairytale story, a record that was made for next to nothing in my spare room, starting its humble life without even a whiff of a marketing budget, going on to conquer the world.
In the intervening years I’ve forged ahead making new music but just recently I’ve been talking to Clune about the idea of getting back together for some kind of White Ladder celebration. It just feels like the time is right and that the record is still as alive for people today as it ever was. So.....there will be a re-release of the full remastered album in various formats, including for the first time ever on vinyl, a deluxe package with demos and outtakes, and also a worldwide tour - all details below.
As I write this we are back in the rehearsal room putting the old sounds and the old songs back together in their original form. I’m delighted to report that the old music still retains its magic. Hopefully everyone who has connected with the record across the years will come along to share that magical feeling with us.
For more info visit Davidgray.com, and for first access to UK or Ireland tickets, head to the David Gray shop to pre-order White Ladder, purchase merch, or sign up with no purchase necessary for a presale code. Codes will be delivered on Tuesday, 8 Oct and will be active starting Wednesday, 9 Oct at 9am BST. For European shows, all tickets will go on sale Friday, 11 Oct at 10am CET.

9000 vinyl copies of the re-issue of Abbey Road by The Beatles were sold this week.
I hope some other artists follow the trend of rereleasing on vinyl. I need some retro Dido!
I've seen a red-black vinyl of No Angel on eBay but not sure if it's from back in the day or was released more recently
It should really say in the description?
I got 'Honeymoon' at the weekend so my Lana collection is complete now!
Am surprised that White Ladder wasn't released on vinyl. I know Dido's debut was and think Life For Rent was too.
Black Friday is coming next month, and the UK releases have been revealed. https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/record-store-day-black-friday-lizzo-lewis-capaldi-and-the-weeknd-among-limited-edition-releases__27467/
The releases that interest me the most:
Goldfrapp's 'Black Cherry' becomes my first purple vinyl
Congrats to Jade for completing her LDR vinyl collection.
When there's a case of me owning all of an artist's studio albums, it's usually on CD or a mix of three formats (CD, vinyl and cassette). The main one that comes to mind in terms of vinyl is The xx.
I would also say Daughter and Glass Animals, but these bands have only put out two studio albums so far (the Music From Before The Storm album by the former is more of a video game soundtrack than a studio album). Foals and Nirvana come close.
My copy of Angel Olsen’s ‘All Mirrors’ arrived today, it’s lovely
Also I’m delighted to have picked up a copy of the Understanding by Röyksopp and their Do It Again mini album with Robyn *.*
Olsens album is fantastic - strange she's not overly loved on here as it's similar to Lana Del Rey
Yep it's a great little album, all those strings! *.*
It's wonderful stuff.
I don't think I've got a complete collection from any artist. I suspect Bon Iver is the nearest as I'm only one away with that.
edit - that's not true actually, I've got all the Portishead albums and Beth's album with Rustin' Man also.
My copy of Foals' Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Part 2 on picture disc arrived. I'm glad to finally complete my ENSWBL boxset, even though I'm a little sad not to have received a download code for Part 2.
I also managed to get:
C Duncan - Architect
Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band - Ice Cream For Crow (Need to add Trout Mask Replica to my collection someday)
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs (first European pressing)
finally bought the Boygenius EP, it's this collaboration indie super group between Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus
Me and My dog from the EP is possibly my fav song of the year
Picked up these in Cardiff today:
P!nk-Can’t Take Me Home
Bruno Mars-Doo Wops & Hooligans
Kate Bush-Lionheart
Stereophonic Should-Kind
I now have the full set for P!nk!
Got the following while looking around the charity shops yesterday:
The Shadows - Greatest Hits
Various Artists - 20 Golden Number Ones
A couple of vintage additions! Also got my eye on Mariah's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' vinyl.
Just got Maroon 5-Red Pill Blues for a steal and more excitingly Billy Joel’s The Stranger.
My Taylor Swift - 'Lover' vinyl turned up today *.* with pastel pink and blue records
Managed to pick up Eurovision 2017 vinyl box set.
Comes with a booklet, CD and 4x vinyl (1x red, 1x dark blue, 1x light blue and 1x yellow).
Bought a Katerine Duska vinyl *.*
For Black Friday, I managed to get a vinyl of The Cure's Seventeen Seconds.
Got these for xmas
Flume - Hi This Is Flume (white vinyl, ltd edition)
Dean Lewis - A Place We Knew

BROCKHAMPTON - Ginger

My collection of Ariana and Beatles studio albums are now complete

Bon Iver is re-releasing the Blood Bank EP
but just checked and it's 20$ for the EP (not bad) but you have to add 30$ for shipment :/ so I didn't buy...50$ for an EP... too much
Talking of Bon Iver, I finally found a copy of the re-issue of For Emma with the alternate cover that didn't seem extortionately priced so I have that winging its way to me. I'll have all the Bon Iver albums now
Did you also order the new Blood bank EP?
I need to catch up on Bon Iver... I actually only have ForEmma on vinyl from back in the day
the 2nd album I bought it on CD, so need to get it on vinyl too
and have 22 A Million but need to get the last one
was asking in the other thread, where do you guys buy vinyls? cos my biggest issue is the price, here inDenmark where I live, vinyls are super price-y, like 30-40 euros, which is a lot... anyone knows somewhere to buy vinyl cheaper?
I get mine from either Rough Trade, Vinyl Me Please, Soundofvinyl or the artists own pages. It's a pretty expensive hobby to be fair, it's difficult to pick up anything that's less than £20 on average.
I do use eBay and Discogs as well though for the older items in my collection.
(and no, I don't have the Blood Bank EP to answer your original question)
when ordering online, problem is always shipping costs are crazy
Recent additions:
Ariana Grande - boyfriend (feat. Social House) [clear vinyl]
Ariana Grande - Don't Call Me Angel (feat. Miley Cyrus & Lana Del Rey) [picture disc]

Lady Gaga - Joanne
The Prodigy - The Fat of the Land

I went to an amazing record store over Christmas called 'Raves from the Grave' in Frome. It had a huge variety of new and old vinyl, including singles going back as far as the 1950s. Anyway, upstairs there was a sofa and turntable with headphones where you could sit down with the records you'd picked out and give them a listen before you bought.
Anyway, I picked up the Squid EP (Town Centre) while I was there. : )
PS as mentioned in the monthly thread in the Lounge... if anyone goes to record store day and can pick me up the Robyn vinyl then I will be eternally grateful!!!
I'm starting to build a vinyl collection and these are some that I've bought:
Kosheen - Resist (Anniversary Edition)
Goldfrapp - Supernature (Anniversary Edition)

Record Store Day list looks very interesting. I'm excited for Black Honey, Caribou, Chemical Brothers, Comet Is Coming, David Bowie, The Doors, Eminem, Fleetwood Mac, Glass Animals, Mac DeMarco, Metronomy, Motorhead, New Order, Primal Scream, Spacemen 3, Supergrass and Tyler The Creator
Record Store Day is delayed to June because of Coronavirus!
Yay!!!!
I'm kind of happy about it being delayed too as the timing of the original date wasn't great for me either. Here's hoping the date in June actually sticks, June is a lifetime away compared to the rapid progress of the pandemic so god knows what things will be like then ~
The original date probably would have ended up being fine for me in the end given I imagine it's pretty unlikely I'll actually be going to Spain - the new one is Mr D*'s birthday so I now need to work on convincing him a great birthday would be spent queuing to get in a record store.
I'm glad too as that weekend was busy enough plans-wise anyway, although watch those get cancelled too now
I've now added:
Britney Spears - '...Baby One More Time' [pink & white swirl vinyl] (got it for a really good price on eBay)
Spice Girls - Spiceworld (popped into HMV yesterday)
First ever Britney vinyl but now my third Spice Girls one in addition to 'Spice' and the Greatest Hits picture disc, just 'Forever' left now when that comes out.
Urban Outfitters is worth a look right now, they’ve got an extra 50% off anything in the sale and that includes some vinyl. Just ordered The Chemical Brothers ‘No Geography’ for just over £10 and that Tove Lo album for £4!!!
I must say one side benefit of WAH is I now have my record player in the room I’m using as an office. This means I am finally playing one record a day.
Lovely! What have your choices been so far?
Been playing lots of vinyl now I have the time, just upgraded my record player and have taken advantage of the HMV vinyl sale over the past week. Recent additions -
The Killers - Day & Age
The Killers - Direct Hits
Yungblud - The Underrated Youth
Sam Fender - Dead Boys EP
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Nirvana - Nevermind
My pink Dua Lipa 'Future Nostalgia' vinyl arrived today + I ordered The Weeknd's 'After Hours' in white and red splattered colours the other day!
Shall trawl through the HMV website a bit later, would be rude not to when it's just been payday
Gutted that I didn't spot the HMV sale earlier, I'd have definitely snapped up the 20th Anniversary Edition of 'Surrender' by the Chemical Brothers and OMD's Souvenir singles collection was comparatively cheap there too. Both sold out now though!
Thanks for the tip - I've tried it now... fingers crossed!
I have just bought the blue version of The Fame though seeing as it's reduced, topped it up with a James Blake EP to get free postage
Just ordered Paul Heaton's Last King of Pop album from Amazon for a decent £21.95. Just a pity that the expected delivery date is the end of April.
Other recent purchases
Bill Whelan - Riverdance 25
Boomtown Rats - Citizens of Boomtown (Gold Vinyl)
Boomtown Rates - A Tonic For The Troops
I need to step away from online vinyl sales Just ordered Rihanna’s Music Of The Sun and Rated R for £10.99 each from Beyond Vinyl’s sale (They have lots of other cool sale vinyl for Blur, Gorillaz etc.,)
I’m going on a vinyl ban now
I need to step away from your posts!!!
(I just ordered 3 things from there!)
Ive been on a vinyl buying spree! (some long Amazon delivery dates though):
Friendly Fires - PALA
Royksopp - Senior
Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia (Pink vinyl)
Royksopp - Melody AM
Zero 7 - The Garden
50th anniversary this year of my first Xmas present vinyl album (This Is Glen Campbell) and the most recent Xmas vinyl album xmas present from my brother & partner is Awesome Mix Vol 1 (Guardians Of The Galaxy), while I picked up a 2nd hand copy of Bobbie Gentry's Way Down South, cult dark-country act of 1967-1973...and then that was it, she retired pretty much. She had a side career doing hit cover duets with Glen Campbell. I love it when links are circular.......
I got bored today and ordered two Alanis albums, SFIJ and Under Rug Swept as a shop on Discogs had the limited versions both quite cheap
If anyone is collecting the Doves re-issues, 'Some Cities' is currently only £12.99 on Sound of Vinyl
Hurrah I got the Chemical Brothers boxset from the HMV sale, so so happy!
HMV have started a flash Easter sale - vinyl from £3.49, just picked up a lot including Bowie for £7.99
https://store.hmv.com/store/hmv-offers/vinyl-offers?sort=sale_price%20asc&quantity=24&page=1&view=grid
So my HMV order arrived today so I can add the following:
Scissor Sisters-Ta Dah!
Paloma Faith-Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful?
Whilst I've wanted a record player for a while it wasn't something I'd ever indulged in as I figured buying vinyl would quickly become an expensive hobby I can't justify.
However I used the bandcamp deal a couple of weeks ago to make a couple of purchases and then ordered a couple more since to start a collection. Two of current faves and two others that I've played huge amounts of in the last 2-3 years. Think I'll keep the collection going and mainly to these type of smaller acts that need the support most. They do all look amazing. Could do with something to play them on now.
One of my favourite recent records to listen to on vinyl is Sam Fender, there are certain artists that just sound so much better on wax!
His website have reduced the vinyl and Amazon have price matched - £13.94 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hypersonic-Missiles-VINYL-Sam-Fender/dp/B07QRPGY4G/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=sam+fender+vinyl&qid=1587369748&sprefix=sam+fend&sr=8-1
I think it depends on how the album was recorded... if it was recorded digitally back in the day and now they make a vinyl, it's gonna sound like the CD... but if the album is taped with analog technology and directly into vinyl, it definitely sounds better cos the sound tends to be warm and has more texture... I always same the same but for me the most extreme experienced on vinyl is listening to Damien Rice - My favourite faded fantasy, especially Colour Me In, it always feel like he's there next to me, doesn't sound like a CD.
Record Store have started their spring clean sale - just picked up the below:
Vinyl -
Ben Howard - Every Kingdom £9.99
Lana Del Ray - Born To Die Paradise Edition £9.99
Halsey - Bad Lands £9.99
Keane - Cause & Effect (Limited Pink Vinyl) £10
https://www.recordstore.co.uk/recordstore/Spring-Clean/
^ Ben Howard - Every Kingdom is in my top 5 best album ever <3 got the vinyl too
Purchased Now 2 on vinyl today from Amazon.
From recordstore.co.uk, I managed to get Straight Outta Compton by NWA when it was their "deal of the day" for 7.99, and I also pre-ordered the upcoming Jamie xx 12". Already have the former in my collection, can't wait to receive the latter.
Omg thanks ___∆___ for sharing the code! Just bought Rina Sawayama's 'SAWAYAMA' album on gold vinyl using that
Also decided to pre-order Fiona Apple's 'Fetch The Bolt Cutters' album on vinyl on Rough Trade UK. Apparently supposed to be out in June.
-stops buying stuff until at least pay day next week now-
Anyone else been listening to their records a lot more in lockdown?
Yep, I have more time in the mornings right now where my walk to work has been eliminated so I have been starting each day with as much of a record as I can fit in. Today it was The Beatles' self-titled release aka 'The White Album' *.*
Never really used Record Store before but impressed with all my recent purchases - they all arrived yesterday and today, all the vinyls were well packed and perfect
I find it difficult to listen to vinyls and work, cos you have to get up and change sides all the time
if I'm focused working time flies and I don't realise and I already need to switch sides
I tend to listen to one each day normally in the afternoon.
Usually start still listen to my on the go list I would on the commute as it makes up my personal chart then Ken Bruce for his Pop Quiz which I'm not bad at but if I did go on it I'd get a load of questions I wouldn't know guaranteed.
Then a record after lunch!
I went on a bit of an online spree week before last and they're all starting to arrive now. So far I've received:
Bright Eyes - Studio Albums Box
Oasis - What's the Story Morning Glory on white vinyl after all the Oasis chat in pre-2000s
The Verve - Urban Hymns on green
Courteeners - More. Again. Forever. on a nice pop up version from HMV
Georgia - Seeking Thrills on red
Ariana Grande - Thank U Next on pink and clear
Ariana Grande - Sweetener on peach
Friendly Fires - Inflorescent (pretty cool lenticular one that's also signed! )
Hot Chip - A Bath Full of Ecstasy on a limited orange and teal that was also signed so a cool surprise
Ben Howard - Every Kingdom
Why? - Alopecia on a weird and very bright tri-colour version
Gil Scott-Heron - I'm New Here on a perfectly matched green and pink to fit the logo, it's the little details!
Zola Jesus - Okovi on copper
Jens Lekman - Life Will See You Now on orange
Mr Scruff - Keep It Unreal on green
The Cinematic Orchestra - To Believe on clear and white
David Gray - White Ladder on white
The Cure - Greatest Hits
Ed O Brien - Earth on red
Björk - Vespertine on white
Björk - Volta on red and an extremely vivid florescent green
All Saints - Testament
The Low Anthem - Oh My God Charlie Darwin on white
Doves - Some Cities on white
Plus a few others that I'd never even heard of but the vinyl looked pretty
I'm jealous of the 'thank u, next' one! I do have peach 'sweetener' though and it's incredibly pretty
wow that's a shopping spree
I also need to get David Gray - White ladder vinyl
is that the 2020 edition?
Yes it is, I think that’s the only time it’s been released on vinyl. Toyed with the deluxe but couldn’t really justify it.
just checked the deluxe version of White ladder and that's crazy expensive, almost 100 Euros, think Im gonna go with the normal vinyl, nice that it's white
Yes it’s nice that it matched the title
And Jade yes the peach Ariana is lovely! I wouldn’t normally have gone for that album, although I do like about half of it, but the colour ensnared me!
My vinyl protection sleeves arrived today from HMV to protect all that wax I’ve been investing in! I’ve tried so many different ones and none beat the ones HMV sell (Guessing that’s why they sell out as soon as they restock them too).
Went a bit mad as it's pay day but I'll have a break for a while now got:
Ariana Grande - break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored (clear vinyl)
Britney Spears - Oops!... I Did It Again (purple swirl vinyl)
Fiona Apple - Tidal
Lady Gaga - Born This Way

I've succumbed and ordered the Fiona Apple album from Vinyl Me Please. They suck me in every time.
Oooops sorry Jade if I've just prompted you to spend!!!
Although it'll probably be worth it, their vinyl is always so pretty. They always get the colours just right for the release
(I really want their version of The National's High Violet but that is just ridiculously priced so I'm sticking to the UK version)
You may have done but that vinyl is gorgeous so no regrets
My Rina Sawayama vinyl arrived today I managed to get the limited edition green vinyl which was limited to 500 copies - I love it when artists release actual limited editions rather than claiming something is and then making 25,000 copies!
Yes it can be frustrating when the ‘limited edition’ tag is used for things that clearly aren’t that limited. Glad you got one though, so often they’re snapped up by people just wanting to sell on for a profit and it’s nice to hear when they actually go to music fans.
Got:
- Kylie Minogue - Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection [mint green vinyl] - been interested in this one for a while, thanks to the Kylie AF for giving me a heads up about the slight price reduction on Amazon as that was enough of an incentive! Mint green is my favourite colour <3
- Fiona Apple - When The Pawn... - finally released on vinyl today on VinylMePlease so Fiona took my money once again
Wow that Fiona album is expensive for a single sleeve vinyl.
I'm probably going to end up buying it regardless but it's put me off immediately purchasing. Or at least wait until there's something else I want to make the postage costs more reasonable.
My latest additions -
Amy Winehouse - Frank
Keane - Hopes & Fears
Rina Sawayama - Sawayama
My latest:
Embrace - This New Day
Arctic Monkeys - WPSIATWIN & FWN
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Oasis - The Masterplan
The Scissor Sisters - The Scissor Sisters
Those last three in particular
My latest lockdown induced purchases are:
Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters on aubergine
Cornelius - Fantasma on orange/cream speckled
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not on smoked vinyl
Green Day - American Idiot on black/white/red vinyl
The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack on pumpkin orange vinyl ( )
The Trainspotting soundtrack on orange vinyl
The Longpigs - The Sun is Often Out on blue
The Divine Comedy - Regeneration
Ivy Sole - Overgrown on blue, white and kinda speckled I guess?
Jonsi & Alex - Riceboy Sleeps
Charlie Collins - Snowpine on orange splatter

Fleetwood Mac - Tango In The Night (Green Vinyl)
Fleetwood Mac - Mirage (Violet Vinyl)
Fleetwood Mac - Greatest Hits
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
LoveRecordStores have announced the first of the special releases that will be available to purchase from independent record stores on the 20th of June (some of those being the RSD 2020 releases that could have been)

I already have Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, Definitely Maybe and four of the King Gizzard albums that are getting special releases on vinyl.
I've joined Vinyl Me Please for 3 months so I could get the Stevie Nicks album plus also get Fiona Apple's 'When The Pawn...' at the discounted price - turns out you get free shipping when you're a member so it's not such a bad deal, especially as I often like their versions of vinyl.
Finally got one of my vinyl grails today - Air France’s No Way Down. I’ve been covering this for ages as it’s one of my favourite albums, but there are so few around. Got it from the US after an eBay budding war for £100. So chuffed!
Got It Won’t Be Soon Before Long the other day and I’ve just ordered Torches by Foster The People from HMV.
PJ Harvey releasing all her discography on vinyl + adding a 2nd vinyl with demos for each release... we are spoiled
Received Torches by Foster The People this week and I’ve just ordered Jack Garratt’s Love, Death and Dancing on coloured vinyl.
