Oops!... I Did It Again is coming out on vinyl for the first time ever, on 26th April 2019!

5000 units of white vinyl with purple swirl is up for pre-order exclusively on Urban Outfitters

https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/britney-spears-oopsi-did-it-again-limited-lp?category=SEARCHRESULTS&color=010

Want & need x

I just wish these vinyl pressings weren't exclusive to Urban Outfitters in the US, it's so expensive to order it sad.gif

If the '...Baby One More Time' vinyl is anything to go by, there'll eventually be a picture disc for worldwide, but we'll see about that.

Posted by: Jonjo 3rd April 2019, 03:34 PM

I assume there'll be a 20 year anniv edition next year! It's the fastest selling album of all time isnt it? (In US at least)

Posted by: liamk97 4th April 2019, 03:12 PM

I think Adele's 25 ended up beating it but yes Oops did hold the title for fastest selling album in the US. Aside Adele, I think Taylor Swift came close too.

Posted by: Spiceboy 4th April 2019, 07:24 PM

Adele did end up beating it. I thought Britney’s record was just for a female artist album, while Adele’s is overall?

Posted by: tommie 4th April 2019, 08:02 PM

They should do one for Blackout to get it past that 300k mark x

It looks perfect wub.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ 13th May 2019, 04:16 PM

Received this today and I love it wub.gif very high quality packaging & artwork!

Posted by: Jay ☆ 17th May 2019, 12:46 AM

This has sold well, out of a 5000 copy run there's currently only 219 copies left in stock. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ 3rd March 2020, 01:09 PM

This album is being re-released for Record Store Day, with brand new artwork and bonus tracks! ohmy.gif It'll be the first time the album is available on vinyl in the UK.

It'll be available on 18th April, but we don't yet know how many copies will be made.

Posted by: Jade 3rd March 2020, 01:13 PM

I definitely want to get my hands on that!

Posted by: Jay ☆ 5th March 2020, 06:45 PM

So this isn’t actually a reissue after all, it’s just remixes and b sides:

Side A
1. “Oops!... I Did It Again (Ospina's Deep Club Mix)”
2. “Lucky (Jason Nevins Mixshow Edit)”
3. “Stronger (Mac Quayle Club Mix)”
4. “Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know (Hex Hector Radio Mix)”

Side B
5. “You Got It All”
6. “Girl in the Mirror”
7. “Heart”
8. “Walk On By

It’s going to be a light blue vinyl, and Rough Trade has it listed for a rather pricey £29.99!! ... I still want it lmao x

I wonder if there’s plans to do this for her other album eras?

Continued my Britney revival today and revisited this album today.

It’s a pure solid pop album but I think I prefer her debut to this tbh. Album tracks wise that has better for me I think but it’s still brilliant fun pop album and this is like the Britney I’ll always love and remember fondly.

What U See Is What U Get still snaps 20 years on. But wtf was she thinking with that Satisfaction cover.

(Again Apologies if this ain’t the album thread I just couldn’t find one after searching the site for ages laugh.gif )

Probably rate this overall as a 8/10.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 5th April 2020, 06:36 PM

Also what song does One Kiss From You sample or has another song released after this sampled it?

It sounds very much like another song and I can’t think what it is but if I hear it I’ll know it!

Posted by: Jonjo 5th April 2020, 06:57 PM

What U See (Is What U Get) is amazing. Where Are You Now remains the best non-single on the album though... THAT note *.*

One Kiss From You I don't know what or if it samples but it slaps. Such a good album though!

This album is part of my holy trinity with ITZ and Circus.

"Can't Make You Love Me" and "When Your Eyes Say It" are such bops

I don't think it fits with the overall vibe of the album like the original artwork does but what a cute pic. heart.gif

Posted by: Jordan Lee 12th April 2020, 02:28 PM

I just bought this for £1 on eBay! The original album not the vinyl.

I realised I have all her albums either on CD Or download except this and Britney Jean but I just can’t buy Britney Jean as the few listens I gave it in 2013 were enough laugh.gif I try not to count it as part of her discography

But completing my collection by getting this. It’s still a great pop album tbh. Early Britney was always my favourite tbh.

Another delay for the B Side/Remixes vinyl, unfortunately! cry.gif Record Store Day has been postponed again (originally April 18th, then pushed back to June 20th but now that date isn't happening either). Three different dates are scheduled: August 29th, September 26th or October 24th, and we don't know which date Britney's will be released yet.

16th May - today is the 20th anniversary of the release of Britney's second album 'Oops!... I Did It Again'! ohmy.gif cheer.gif

Following the 2019 releases of the purple/white swirl vinyl (the album's first ever pressing on album) and the clear vinyl, we now have two new vinyl versions and a cassette forthcoming, all out on 14th August 2020:

https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/britney-spears-oopsi-did-it-again-limited-lp2?color=100&type=REGULAR&size=ONE%20SIZE&quantity=1

Available exclusively at Urban Outfitters in a special 20th anniversary edition, the seminal Britney Spears album Oops!...I Did It Again, pressed to clear vinyl with purple and gold splatter. The second studio album from Spears was an instant pop sensation with the mega-hits we’re still singing, including the title track, “Lucky” and “Stronger.” 2000, Jive.

The Britney Spears Oops! I Did It Again 20th Anniversary Edition Picture Disc features all 12 original hits, including “Oops!...I Did It Again,” “Stronger,” and “Lucky.”
(It seems that this version will be sold on Amazon too)

I have the purple/white swirl version of the vinyl from last year. That mock up for the purple/gold splatter version looks great... but I really have to draw the line somewhere, I can't afford to buy different versions! laugh.gif I feel like I can't allow myself to go down the road of trying to collect all her albums on cassette either tearsmile.gif

By the way, the Oops! B Side/Remixes Vinyl is now scheduled for release on September 26th.

Posted by: Jade 15th May 2020, 11:44 PM

Wow! I am also the proud owner of the purple/white swirl vinyl and that was pricey enough, so also can't justify these laugh.gif the only new releases I'd be interested in from Urban Outfitters now would be the 'My Prerogative' greatest hits (or the updated one, or both laugh.gif) and the new Glory cover wub.gif

It has now been 20 years since pop princess @BritneySpears released her second studio album, “Oops!… I Did It Again.” On that famed record, the queen of the 2000s churned out some of her biggest hits, such as “Stronger” and “Lucky.” But it’s her lead single, “Oops,” that’s lodged most firmly in our memory, and not just for its earworm-y chorus. The track’s space-age music video is downright iconic. When you think Britney, you think of that red latex jumpsuit. And in honor of the album’s anniversary, we spoke with the video’s stylist to reminisce about that now-famous Oops! costume. Tap the link in our bio for all the stories you've never heard about how the head-to-toe latex look came to be.

Baby will always be her most iconic song/video, but Oops runs it damn CLOSE I reckon! wub.gif

10 Official Chart facts about Britney’s Oops!... I Did It Again album on its 20th anniversary

QUOTE
1. Oops!...I Did It Again entered the Official UK Albums Chart at Number 2 in May 2000. It was the second of five Britney albums that have peaked in the runner-up slot to date.

2. Oops! lost out on the Number 1 spot that week to Whitney Houston’s Greatest Hits, also a new entry that week. View the Official Albums Chart from that week here.

3. It was a seriously close race to Number 1 that week: Whitney’s album sold 89,364, while Britney’s shifted 88,145.

4. The album’s biggest song is its title track and lead single, with 737,000 UK chart sales. The single debuted at Number 1 with first week sales of 124,000, earning Britney her third UK chart-topper. View Britney's full Official UK Chart history here.

5. Oops! is the album’s most-streamed song, with 28.1 million plays, and best-selling song (downloads and CD sales), with 492,000 copies sold.

6. The collection's most popular album track is What U See (Is What U Get). The least popular is bonus track You Got It All, a cover of The Jets' 1986 single that Britney recorded as a demo in 1997 that helped her get signed to Jive Records.

7. The album in order of most popular to least popular song, based on chart sales:

POS TITLE ARTIST
1 OOPS I DID IT AGAIN BRITNEY SPEARS
2 LUCKY BRITNEY SPEARS
3 STRONGER BRITNEY SPEARS
4 DON'T LET ME BE THE LAST TO KNOW BRITNEY SPEARS
5 WHAT U SEE (IS WHAT U GET) BRITNEY SPEARS
6 DON'T GO KNOCKIN' ON MY DOOR BRITNEY SPEARS
7 (I CANT GET NO) SATISFACTION BRITNEY SPEARS
8 CAN'T MAKE YOU LOVE ME BRITNEY SPEARS
9 ONE KISS FROM YOU BRITNEY SPEARS
10 DEAR DIARY BRITNEY SPEARS
11 WHERE ARE YOU NOW BRITNEY SPEARS
12 WHEN YOUR EYES SAY IT BRITNEY SPEARS
13 GIRL IN THE MIRROR BRITNEY SPEARS
14 YOU GOT IT ALL BRITNEY SPEARS

8. Oops’ second single, Lucky, peaked at Number 5 in August 2000. It was released the same week as the famous chart battle between Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Victoria Beckham, with Sophie (okay, Spiller)’s Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love) coming out on top. See the full Top 100 from that week here.

9. The album’s third single Stronger topped out at Number 7 on the Official Singles Chart. Again, it was released during a competitive week, with Eminem’s Stan and Bob The Builder’s Can We Fix It battling for Number 1 (!). View the full Top 100 from that week here.

10. The fourth and final Oops! single Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know didn’t fair quite so well, peaking at Number 12 in April 2001 – though hardly disastrous for a fourth single from an album, right? See what else was in the chart that week here.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 19th May 2020, 06:53 PM

What U See Is What U Get being the top album track feels so right. It stood out to me a LOT amongst the non singles.

Stronger feels much bigger than Lucky though!

Posted by: Euphorique 20th May 2020, 07:03 PM

Lucky was a bigger hit, and I feel is more remembered? At least in Europe I definitely heard it more than Stronger.

Also the album was so robbed from #1, that was a super close race

Posted by: Liam.k. 20th May 2020, 10:18 PM

'Stronger' is bigger than 'Lucky' now. Going off sales alone, 'Stronger' is within 5k of overtaking 'Lucky' despite there originally being a ~40k gap in the physical era.

I don't think it was physically released, so it made #9 just on the strength of radio play! I think her record company wanted sales directed to the album.

I never knew that - so Oops probably would have got to #1 if it was physically released?

I can see why they did that if it meant the album would sell more than 1.3 million in its first week but I’m still kinda annoyed laugh.gif

Posted by: Euphorique 27th May 2020, 02:40 PM

Yeah it was basically an airplay only single. A lot of pop songs from Backstreet Boys, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, etc were charting on radio play only. Another one I remember was Faith Hill "There You'll Be"

Yeap if Britney's label released all of her singles she would have many more #1's!!!

I am sure Crazy, OIDIA and Toxic would have been #1's and Sometimes, Lucky and Everytime top 3 singles!!!

Posted by: Euphorique 27th May 2020, 05:28 PM

Yeah "From The Bottom..." managed a top15 peak on the Hot 100 cause it was released on CD and was a #1 seller. However it was only #17 on Pop radio. So you can imagine what a #1 airplay and #1 sales would've done for Oops! and other singles. Oops! I think would've been a #1, especially cause by then Maria Maria was already a very long number 1 hit with weak numbers by the end.

It's sold 546 copies so far, but it usually takes approaching 800 copies to be in the end of week Top 200 chart. It'll have sold pretty much all it's able to sell now. The only thing is whether or not all the stores have reported their sales of it yet. If there's missing data... maybe it'll chart. Fingers crossed! Obviously there's no downloads or streaming sales for this one.

Oops managed to sell more than 604 copies, because that's how many physicals Taylor Swift - folklore sold to be #41! Less than 645 copies; that's how much Biffy Clyro sold at #36.

For me it's her best album.

Britney Spears - Oops! I Did It Again (2000)

My rate : S (Masterpiece)

Top 5 songs :
1. Lucky
2. Girl In The Mirror
3. Oops! I Did It Again
4. Dear Diary
5. Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know

"Lucky" is my favourite Britney song and also eternal all-time favourite with impressive 9 weeks on the top of my chart.
