I think it's decent but it doesn't feel like a Christmas song at all. She's just singing about a boy but let's throw in the generic mistletoe and mention Santa and call it a Christmas song. Kinda lame..
But aside from that it's a cute song.

This is the best modern Xmas song in my opinion, far superior to Leona's & just slightly better than Kelly's which is also great.
Peaked at #68 2 years ago but I think it could go top 40 especially now she's a much bigger name.

Following a discussion in the single thread sbout 'Santa Tell Me' i decided to make a poll about whether it could go top 40. It peaked at 68 in the UK previously. However, with a new found love and respect for Ariana could this year be the year it creeps into the top 40?

Also, she's THIRD on the most used Christmas playlist this year, she's new in at #147 on Spotify, which is great for November! It's looking promising. Hopefully it's 59p over Christmas.

I agree, it seems to be doing much better on streaming than last year already and most of the songs in the top 40 are on ACR already too. Would be a dream to see it top 20 on the 21st or 28th.

I still have only listened to one Christmas song this year, I tend to avoid them like the plague until the night I put the tree up and I'm sure many people do the same.

Oh yes true, I forgot I listened to 'Oh Santa' too because I had never heard the original.
I usually FORBID myself until at least November 25th as it's a month to go, but then shopping is usually a sod, I heard Christmas songs before Halloween in B&M.

It's a shame that for some reason this has slipped a spot and now ranks 4th among biggest daily gainers for Xmas songs on Spotify. I wonder what caused the Michael Bublé cover of "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" to have such a drastic increase compared to "Santa Tell Me".

Yeah, she'd already been a part of two #1s by the time 'Santa Tell Me' was released I think, yet she would go on to become so much bigger! I've seen quite a few people on the forum saying that 'Santa Tell Me' has clicked with them more this year which is pleasing to see.

This has re-entered the US Hot 100 at #39 this week - shockingly this is both the first time it has charted since its original run, and is also a new peak and the first time it's made the top 40 (previously peaked at #42). I guess it would have re-entered more if it weren't for old songs needing to crack the top 50 to re-enter, but I hadn't clocked that it didn't manage to do that previously even at the height of the popularity of 'thank u, next'! Then again it seems like 80% of the Christmas songs that re-enter the Hot 100 each year are from the 50s and 60s so it's quite an achievement for any more recently released track to join those ranks (apart from Mariah ofc)

Christmas songs are doing worse across the board this year compared to the same point last year so far so I wouldn't get your hopes up too much - was going to compare where it was charting this week last year but of course it was starred out in the equivalent week behind 3 'positions' tracks but it was #79 in the corresponding week in 2019 so pretty much exactly matching that. For the equivalent of the coming week, it was #33 in 2019 and #16 last year.
It's also only the 11th highest Christmas song in this week's chart (by comparison it was the 7th highest in that week that it entered at #16 last year, and the 8th highest when it peaked at #11 the following week), which suggests last year might have been a high point for it perhaps because she was everywhere at the time with the ongoing 'positions' era, although there's of course a chance it might still overtake some of the others in the coming weeks.
A bit annoying if this is just going to end up lumbered with an eternal #11 peak but I guess that's still a huge improvement from it originally only getting to #68!

I think there's a better chance of a re-peak if she is mid new era in the coming years. I'm going to assume last year the Christmas songs were doing better already because there was more people off work due to the pandemic, more people stuck at home and putting their tree up earlier etc.

Yes a little bit of a drop, but with still 2 charts left leading up to Chrsitmas, I am loving her chances. All of the Christmas songs seem to be doing better this year, looks like a few Christmas songs should make new peaks. Gunning for an 'Underneath The Tree' top 10 too. My favourite Christmas song is 'Driving Home For Christmas' which only peaked top 10 last year for the first time since it's release in 1988.

I'm so bored of the Christmas songs taking over the chart for 1/6th of the year but this finally getting a top 10 peak would be one good thing to come out of it.
This also seems to get off to a fast start then start dropping behind some of the older classics as we get closer to Christmas so with the Christmas songs already peaking higher earlier this year, I think it does have a chance.

I didn’t realise it took until 2017 before this went top 40 here in the UK. If I remember right, I think she was pushing My Everything when this did initially release so maybe it didn’t get the initial push for that reason but over the years it’s become quite the modern staple.
A brand new festive release from her now would probably challenge for number one but for someone with 7 number ones and so many top tens some of her peaks are surprising!
It’ll likely end up her song with the most weeks inside the top 40 overall now as it’ll probably appear yearly unless OCC change rules / it gets taken off festive playlists.
Nice to see it charting highly already though and I am feeling hopeful this will be the year it sneaks inside that top ten!

Yeah it did take quite a few years to become one of the modern festive smashes! I remember hearing it a decent amount before then, mostly amongst school/Uni friend groups and used in YouTube videos etc so already felt quite well acquainted with it. Shame it didn’t properly become a chart staple before it went on ACR!

There’s only 2 lines that are different in the ‘naughty version’.
It also doesn’t appear as a new release on her Spotify profile so I can’t see this helping her reach the top 10. You have to specifically search for it so I can’t see it getting many streams. Nowhere is promoting it.
