It's see if this works,
A thread for Man United supporters to discuss everything to do with Man United.
British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to buy Manchester United.
News of the 69-year-old's interest follows a Bloomberg report that the Glazer family are willing to sell a minority stake in the club.
"If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer," Ratcliffe's spokesperson told The Times.
"If something like this was possible, we would be interested in talking with a view to long-term ownership."
As long as we avoid losing by a 5+ goal margin against Liverpool next Monday we still won't have had as bad a start to the season as Arsenal did last season (3 losses, 0 goals scored, 9 conceded) and look at them now, things can change VERY quickly in football!
What would it take to actually fix us for this season?
Casmerio
Sommer
De Jong
Dest
Antony
Vardy
I would totally take Casemiro. I know he's not played in the PL before but I think he's one of the world's best in his position so would be the optimal choice. I'll believe it when I see it though!
Saying that, him alone won't fix us. The club is broken from top to bottom right now so you could have the world XI playing for us and things would still probably go wrong.
To change the Club the owners have to go. That is the only way any meaningful change will ever happen. We need new owners, proper investment in our infrax (the club has money but it lines the glazers pockets and pays their debts instead of building better training facilities and upgrading OT), and a proper football structure fit for the 2020‘s that is independent of interference from the board and the commercial side.
Until the fundamentally f***ed back office is fixed the club will remain disfunctional and fail to live up to its potential
Who would you want as a new owner?
New owners for Manchester United will mean jack all if the Glazers sell it to a private equity firm like Apollo Management, as they'll do the same as them or worse - loading the company with debt with eye watering interest, asset stripping, and running it solely for extracting pounds out of its century-old reputation. That's not to say the other options, such as selling it to countries or organizations looking to white-wash their reputations, are any better. The best (realistic) hope is that it's bought over by a very rich man who genuinely loves the club, given that the best option, being owned by the supporters, is nigh-on impossible.
Great idea for a thread this is! It should help other teams in the league get more of a focus in the main Premier League thread. Also echoing what has been said already the Glazers definitely need to go, I don't know if Jim Ratcliffe would be the right person to take over though but to be honest I don't know anything about him anyway.
Casemiro reeks of Varane MK II. He's almost unlike a DM or pivot player Ten Haag usually goes for - probably coming for his last pay day now Tchoumanei and Camavinga are at Madrid. They must be licking their lips.
And Ratcliffe would be a good owner. But he's done exactly the same PR move as he did with Chelsea. Can't see the Glazers selling, I'm not even sure they would sell part of the club to fund infastructure improvements.
Casimero is a good player imo but 60m would be too much to pay for a 30 yo, it’s United though!
Manchester United hope to announce the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro for close to £60m in the next few days and are also now fully turning their attentions to PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo who will cost around £34m.
An alternative option to Gakpo is the Atletico Madrid forward Yannick Carrasco, who is priced at £25.5m, after United failed with a bid of £67.6m for Ajax's Antony who was their first choice.

Ronaldo, will he stay or go?
I think he's got to stay now. Nowhere else wants him other than clubs outside of Europe and it seems his only interest is the Champions League so he's in a bit of a hole now.
I don't want him to go. All this talk of him downing tools and causing discontent in the dressing room but I don't see how that benefits him? He's still got a World Cup to go soon so will need to be in tip top shape and form.
Jamie O'Hara thinks that we might get relegated this season. Hyperbole "journalism" at it's finest there.
Manchester United have not ruled out making an improved bid for Ajax forward Antony after the Dutch club rejected a £68m (€80m) offer.
Maguire being linked with Chelsea by the Mail, as part of a deal involving Pulisic coming our way,
Pulisic is a good player, just needs more goals in his game!
Maguire would be good in a back 3, he's good there for England for example. Certainly plays to his strengths and would cover his major weaknessess.
If Maguire leaves I think that will get rid of a lot of the negativity around the club. Not all of it of course. But if that meant we have to rely on Varane every week then that’s going to leak us more goals. Phil Jones is still there too right? Enough said.
According to The Sun today, Erik ten Hag forcing Man Utd flops to watch videos of Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool… so they see how good teams play. That’s a funny claim and will have zero impact.
Phil Jones is the ultimate example of the sunken cost fallacy. Just terminate the useless c**ts contract and get him out of my club. How he was ever given another contract, I do not know. Man hasn't done shit but keep the physios in business for the past decade.
Manchester United are likely to go in with an improved offer to sign Ajax winger Antony after seeing their recent £67.9m bid rejected
Ajax want €100m for Antony but Man United aren't willing to stretch that far and will instead offer €80m, again.
Liverpool are not at it at the moment. Hopefully this will be maintained for the rest of the match. Trent in particular is not having a good game at the moment.
Well this is going a lot different than I expected
Fair play Utd, just goes to show how far the narrative shifts. Ten Haag played pragmatic and copied Palace's tactics against us. Best team in the world again now! Amazing how things change so quickly Lots of agression which was good, Liverpool just didn't show up today and that first goal was honestly dreadful from Virgil. But a good win, Utd played well and we didn't deserve anything from the match - we look a little shot physically and our midfield is truly terrible at this moment in time.
Much better performance tonight but it's no good only doing this against Liverpool, this needs to be done consistently. I liked the anger in Erik Ten Hag during his post match interview while he was stressing that you can't just play like this against Liverpool.
Sky Sports are making out like the title race is over for Liverpool because they have 2 points from the first 3 games. Pretty sure Liverpool will still be 2nd by the end of the season, it just takes a winning run and then they'll climb up the table fast.
Jamie O'Hara said that we would lose 5-0 tonight. Does that guy ever get anything right? He's stealing a living I think.
Well I don't know what team that was that turned up at OT today but can we play them every week
I was especially shocked at how well Rashford played. First good game in about 4 years...
110% here for it. Trapp is great and it weakens Eintracht which is just a bonus. Coz there was rumours they were looking at Sommer and then rumours he said naw. Which, tbh, I am not sure I entirely believe
So with Antony set to join us, and Casemiro already here, they will no doubt get plenty of game time each week with their price tags, so whose going to drop out of the first team to make room for them? I can see Fred playing less under Eric ten Hag, possibly Sancho too, it’s going to be hard to make room for only 11 players in the pitch, but at least there’s the 5 subs rule this season.
I don’t rate Dubravka signing though, that’s a poor choice there.
Dubravka is a good signing to come as a number 2. He's good enough to be first choice to a mid-table Premier League team. I did think they might have gone for a proper sweeper keeper though.
Anthony - can't say I have ever seen a lot of him, but it is a lot of money for someone who I don't think is courted by any other big teams. I think Brazil see him as the potential successor to Neymar so clearly there is a lot of potential there, but a lot of pressure with that price tag and you feel Man Utd have overpaid. Over £200m spent again - madness.
The other clubs see United coming and know they can rip the Glazers off - hopefully this is another example of that!
Absolutely. Everyone knows you double the asking price for other clubs when United come calling!
Manchester United forward Amad Diallo has joined Sunderland on a season long loan.
The 20-year-old, who was signed for a projected £37.2m two years ago, spent last season on loan at Rangers.
Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign Memphis Depay.
James Garner has joined Everton from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old midfielder has signed a four-year deal with the Toffees.
Since the match against Liverpool our defence has looked so solid. Malacia and Martinez are really gelling well with Varane and Dalot has improved a lot in the past 3 games as well, I don't think it's a coincidence that Maguire has been on the bench for the past 3 games either and that's where he should stay. Bruno seems to play better when Ronaldo is not in the team and the same could be said for Sancho and Rashford. Hopefully we keep this up for longer and especially going into the match against Arsenal on Sunday.
Sounds like all the players are great all of a sudden, how things change so quickly 🤣
Birmingham have completed the permanent signing of Tahith Chong from Manchester United.
He said: “I am excited to be back. Especially after last season, I have always felt Birmingham City had been my second home.
Lovely goal that. Great ball from Bruno Fernandes. Nice to see Rashford finding a bit of form.
Amazing what happens when you play him down the middle, too many poor coaches have tried to make him a winger in the past 5 years
Thrilled to see mr 4 goals a year in a farmers league he’ll never cut it in the Prem score on his debut
Personally I missed the game, was too busy watching a frustrating Borussia Mönchengladbach lose to Mainz (at Borussia Park Itself)
Good to see they aren’t missing the CR7 goals now!
The 3 goals came from:
- A united attack that Arsenal cleared and United reset by playing the ball back to DDG
- Arsenal making a poor pass to Dalot in the right back position
- A united throwing in their own half
Hardly Ronaldo, Rooney, Park at the emirates
I mean, there’s just no way back for Harry at this point. He has effectively become the Phil Jones of his time.
And yet Southgate will still pick him for the World Cup
Who else I’d there though?
Think his confidence is just shot!
Who is our deadwood now then?
Maguire, Jones, Bailly, Shaw, Telles, Martial, Van De Beek. Then Williams & Elanga to go on loan somewhere.
We lost the game but the City collapse at the end was hilarious made a shit day slightly better.
Imagine paying £70M for one of the best CDMs in the world then playing McTominay and Eriksen (who's a CAM) there. Truly baffling...
A mare of a weekend all round for all of my teams. Thank god today is a public holiday coz I need it to recover from the absolute shafting Gladbach, Alpine and United got
At least we don't have to play City again for a few months. Can't see anyone being close to them by the time May comes around.
Donny van de Beek, Martin Dúbravka, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Brandon Williams and Phil Jones ruled out. Raphaël Varane and Harry Maguire doubtful tonight against Omonia Nicosia.
Phil Jones might as well be permanently ruled out.
A very useful and pleasing win yesterday against a tough side. Take out the City blip and that's 5 wins in 6 now. Also was good to see Casemiro get MOTM especially after his error for the Everton goal. Ronaldo has earned more game time!
BBC News - Mason Greenwood arrest: Man United player in alleged bail breach
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-63269379
How did Fred play the entire game?
Deserved to win that, we were good in the second half. I do not know how Rashford and Fred missed those chances.
We missed some very clear cut opportunities in this match, Fred's miss in particular was shocking! The ref had a poor game as well which made things worse. First league match we've drawn this season and hopefully there wont be too many more to come.
Given how good Newcastle are this season and the fact they've only lost once I'll take a draw there. Scared what Spurs might do to us on Wednesday though.
Home to anyone except City should be looked at as poor if you don’t win imo!
Manchester United have been charged by the Football Association after their players surrounded referee Craig Pawson during Sunday's game against Newcastle.
United's players reacted angrily after Pawson disallowed a Cristiano Ronaldo goal during the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford.
The referee included the incident in his report on the match.
United "failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion", according to the FA charge.
That incident was very reminiscent of this!
How often do we dominate a full 90 mins... I can't remember the last time. Magnificent
I didn't watch the match live but I can't believe we had 28 shots on goal! Without doubt our best performance of the season. I knew we would beat Tottenham tonight as we normally do at Old Trafford no matter what form we're in.
Thought we were the better team overall against Chelsea, but we failed to score our chances which is becoming a recurring problem. All in all we're clearly on the right track.
I thought the game was over once Jorginho scored the penalty for Chelsea but Casemiro saved us at the last minute, really enjoyed the passion in his celebration as well. He's made a positive difference to us since he joined. Still a bit annoyed that it wasn't all 3 points though due to the penalty that we conceded.
Such an important result that, had we lost all the goodwill built up in the past few weeks would have been extinguished but rescuing that point at the death was massive for self-confidence and the fact it was against Chelsea who are directly above in the table keeps them within our sights (though now we've Toon army sneaking around the outside!)
You'd like to think that, having got all of the games vs the big 6 (big 7 now?) out of the way, we can kick on but it's usually the lesser teams that cause us the most problems so expecting a few more dodgy games this side of the WC.
The Chelsea and Liverpool results definitely giving us a good chance. Need to take advantage of it tomorrow.
Not pretty but it's 3 points.
Defence was solid.
Honestly I love the hysteria around Rashford. Last season he was a fraud and now because of a few goals he's an absolute must for England at the WC. As a United fan he should be nowhere near England's starting XI.
Indeed on the hyperbole point1
I think Rashford has probably done enough to start for England and if not start, then certainly should be in the squad.
When you look at the players England have played in that position over the past few years (Sterling, Grealish, Saka, Foden, Mount, Bowen, Sancho, Lingard, Smith Rowe) the only ones that you can say have been better than him this season are Saka and Foden and they both prefer to play on the right side which leaves Rashford as the obvious choice for LW to me. And with Saka going off injured yesterday hopefully he will be fit enough to play too.
Will be tough, need to win by 2 due to the goal difference against Real Sociedad.
It will indeed. Could really have done with this game being a dead rubber to give some players a rest but alas, this is the sitch we're in!
What on earth was that second half from Ten Hag? United looked in a decent position but that formation change to 3-3-3-1 was disastrous. Didn’t have any control in the game at all after that. Especially crazy when they could have kept the normal 4-3-3 and kept players in their normal positions. Why were they playing Bruno on the right and Rashford at CAM? Why were Dalot and Shaw playing CB?
Maguire up top was my personal fave. Man went full Sam Allardyce!
The match was on DAZN here so I wasn’t watching but I have never in my entire life been so confused upon opening twitter as when I saw „Maguire is playing as centre forward next to Ronaldo“. I thought I was having a f***ing stroke
That was the Alien Resurrection of football performances. It was dreadful and everybody involved should feel bad.
Mings knew exactly what he’was doing there.
Would like to hear is Utd fans still think Ronaldo is a Saint!
What an incredible finish that was. Garnacho you beauty!!
A certain chat with Piers Morgan?
He’s said some downright bizzare things. Not really sure I get it, the only funny thing is it probably tarnishes his idealistic legacy with the fans now. Messi still the GOAT!
No way back for Ronaldo now after this. I think it's hypocritical what he said about being forced out of the club, he's the one that said he wanted to leave because we didn't qualify for the Champions League and he's walked out of Old Trafford twice while a match was still ongoing. He shouldn't expect to play regularly if he's showing signs that he doesn't want to be at United anymore. I think we should do whatever it takes to get him out of the club in January but at the same time it seems like no one wants him and with this "me me me" attitude it's not hard to see why. His initial period at United will always be remembered but it's probably for best that we move on without him and the impact that our new signings have made will benefit us even more.
We got rid of one virus this year only to have another strain emerge. He is welcome to terminate his contract, without compensation for the remainder of it, and f*** off elsewhere. Not that anyone actually wants him…
I always supported Ronaldo and welcomed his return but this year he’s been a petulant little Manchild acting like his age is equal to his shirt number. But when you’ve a man so vain he (ALLEGEDLY) gets Botox injections to his dick, of course he’s gonna throw a narcissistic strop when he’s not centre of attention
It does make the manager look a lot stronger though as he’s stood up to him!
That was merely a parting gift.
United have terminated Christiano Ronaldos contract it has been confirmed.
Can I bin the shirt now then?
Go ahead Ronaldo is an absolute self centred joker!
I'll be interested to see how much they paid him off when the accouts come up for viewing.
It seems like the Glazers might finally f*** off from Man United.
Looks like they are doing the same as the Liverpool owners. It's either a recognition the clubs can't compete with the State backed clubs (unlikely to be the case) or the clubs are probably at the maximum value, especially with an upcoming global recession.
I’m strongly guessing the latter. They’ll cash out while the price is at its maximum.
Lots of wild rumours floating around about who wants in to a purchase deal including the Daily Record reporting Apple want in (lol as if)
A couple of the usual suspects have been named (Ratcliffe, Dubais sovereign wealth fund 🤮, American hedge funds) but also a couple of more surprising names like the Zara founder
Does anyone know the inside story of why the Glazers are open to selling?
Gakpo is gonna be more than 40m next time we try and sign him isn't he?
Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Cody Gakpo's agents as they look to swoop for the PSV star.
Why do I have the feeling this would be Memphis Depay all over again.
Yes that could be the case where he comes to the club plays like Depay did and then becomes a superstar at another club.
He’s 23 tho!
The Martinez and Casemiro signings have given me confidence that the gaffer knows what he is doing. Hence if he wants Gakpo. The Board should give him Gakpo.
Got the job done
Exactly what we have to do to secure top4.
Good game last night
And the string of clean sheets will give us confidence.
Agreed
We're on a roll at the moment and are actually not far behind Man City, we do play them and Arsenal soon so we could close the gap even further or perhaps overtake them in the next few weeks if we can get wins in those matches.
Manchester United have signed Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland on loan for the remainder of the season.
United manager Erik ten Hag needs a number two to David de Gea after Newcastle United cut Martin Dubravka's loan period short.
Weird that Toon did that after Pope's successful stint.
Martial has to start taking some of these chances. For himself if nothing else
Wout Weghorst! Jack Butland!
I don't think Weghorst is that bad of a signing given the right system. There were loads of stories that Man Utd have no money to spend, hence the loan signings and seemingly from the briefings from the press, whoever does end up buying them (looks unlikely to be a State) will cut back on the spending and implement an internal wage cap. Probably the right thing to do, but will be interesting how the fans react to Liverpool/Spurs levels of frustrating transfer windows.
United in some great form at the moment but the big test is against City. The games since the restart have been all games you'd expect them to win easily (although they were lucky against Wolves). Looking very good for Top 4 at the moment though.
Weghost would be a horrendous signing and I want nothing to do with it. He barley performed for a relegated Burnley last season, no thanks.
Manchester United have a “deal in principle in place” with Burnley to sign striker Wout Weghorst.
Not a good piece of business at all. If they give him the #7 shirt it will be a joke.
Even worse signing than Ighalo.
He was alright, just not utilised enough
I haven’t seen huge amounts about this new kid but what I have seen doesn’t fill me with joy
Name on the Carabao Cup trophy?
Newcastle probably!
It was a rhetorical question
But seriously this is our best chance of winning a trophy in years, we surely got to get this one secured with who is left in the competition but it won't be easy and none of the teams should be taken lightly as anything can happen in cup matches.
First trophy in 5 years potentially is ‘years’ for United fans 😂
Um... yeah?
Compared to other fans you are spoilt!
Must be favourites for the league now for me!
I don't think we will win the league but it is a great result nonetheless and to come back from behind showed a lot of character, Garnacho was the key substitution and changed the game. At the very least this will help strengthen our top 4 place and hopefully we'll beat Palace and then Arsenal next week.
If you’d beat them both yous won’t be far off the top!
Buzzing what a win!
On Wout Weghorst signing, he's performed reasonably with VfL Wolfsburg so I am not too worried about his quality...
It’s always nice to remind the Nuevo Riche neighbours from time to time that money can’t buy class
Mega result but we actually have beaten City quite a few times in recent years even when we were in worse form so don't want to read too much into it. Form always goes out the window for these big derbies much like the North London one which I can see spurs winning. Definitely played City at a good time though I can't remember them being in this bad form since Pep"s first season with them.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of Britain’s richest men, has confirmed that INEOS has entered the bidding process to buy Manchester United from the Glazers.
“We have formally put ourselves into the process,” a spokesman for the petrochemicals billionaire confirmed on Tuesday.
Manchester United are apparently interested in signing Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.
The Premier League giants are set to rival Tottenham for the Spain international who has impressed for Thomas Frank’s side this season, according to The Telegraph.
The goalkeeper is expected to cost around £15m-£20m, with plenty of Europe’s top teams aiming to make a move this summer.
As a replacement for De Gea?
Na as backup cos we lost Dubravka.
I didn't see the Crystal Palace match yesterday but it's really annoying that we conceded the equaliser in added on time and now will be without Casemiro for the match on Sunday against Arsenal. His absence could make the difference between getting something out of that game or not.
Do United not have Lee Grant and purchased another keeper on loan recently - Butland?
Manchester United are reportedly interested in Monaco defender Axel Disasi.
French outlet Telefoot claim United have made contact with the Ligue 1 side over the 24-year-old France star.
It is said they will face competition from Bayern Munich.
Manchester United forwards Anthony Elanga and Facundo Pellestri have been subject to tentative loan interest, but not from clubs where United feel they would be best placed.
As it stands, they will stay at the club with Erik ten Hag saying Pellestri could be another attacking option for them for the rest of the season.
It is likely to be a quiet last few days at United regarding incomings.
3-0 against 10 men Reading. Surely it’s time for the kids now
With the way we're playing I forgot Reading are down to 10 men.
Manchester United have reportedly approached Bayern Munich over a deal for Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.
It has been claimed that Sabitzer wants to move and United are now pushing to get an agreement done.
Sabitzer would be good bit of business. Can be good on his day and runs his socks off.
Christian Eriksen is set to be out until at least late April after sustaining an ankle injury in his side's FA Cup win over Reading on Saturday.
United manager Erik ten Hag believes the club have the "players who can fill the gap" caused by Eriksen's absence.
"On deadline day it's difficult [to bring in a replacement]. You can't make policy on such bad injuries," he said.
"But we have players in the midfield department and good players."
That’s going to be a painful loss
Certainly is thanks to that thuggery from Carroll.
With Eriksen injured I’d much rather Sabitzer as the replacement instead of Tielemans that I’ve seen other people mention on Twitter.
Same^ never rated Tielemans.
Manchester United defender Di’Shon Bernard has joined Portsmouth.
The 22-year-old will spent the second half of the season at the League One side on loan.
Marcel Sabitzer seems set to join Manchester United on loan with an option to buy.
The Bayern Munich midfielder has been filmed leaving for England in a video shared by Sky Sport Germany.
Manchester United were offered Isco, Saul Niguez, Houssem Aouar and Yannick Carrasco among others on Deadline Day.
United decided not to pursue because they wanted Marcel Sabitzer.
Charges of attempted rape and assault have been dropped against Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood.
The 21-year-old was arrested in January last year amid allegations surrounding images and videos that emerged online.
He was later charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The Crown Prosecution Service said the charges were discontinued after a key witness withdrew their involvement.
A spokesman said: "We have a duty to keep cases under continuous review.
"In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case.
Interesting to see what Utd do here. His contract should be cancelled but we’ll see what they do..
Money talks I guess but can’t imagine he has any type of career in England…
Marcel's first interview with MUTV....he has that EtH mindset for sure
https://www.manutd.com/en/news/deta...is-suited-to-erik-ten-hag-and-man-utd-mindset
Ive seen a split in the Fans between those who don’t want him anywhere near United and those who do. Among the followers of one of the major twitter news reposters, I think it was maybe 60-70% against.
I suspect among some demographics it will be the opposite
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has asked his players to focus on football after team-mate Mason Greenwood had all criminal charges against him dropped.
The Crown Prosecution Service said on Thursday that charges against the 21-year-old were discontinued after key witnesses withdrew their involvement.
United is to "conduct its own process" before deciding what to do next, with Greenwood still suspended by the club.
"We have always to focus on the game, no matter what," said Ten Hag.
Think we need a solid option as Centre Back. Varane can't be trusted injury wise and we will end up playing Lindelof or Maguire very often.
Donny van de Beek, Christian Eriksen and Jack Butland ruled out. Diogo Dalot doubtful for our match against Crystal Palace tomorrow afternoon.
Butland injured? Surely not!!
Great to see Sancho back on the scoresheet!
That back 4 today makes my eyes bleed. Could be in for a world of pain.
Great result. Didn't look likely with 15 to go but found a way again. Performance was poor but that's bound to happen when playing so regularly. Keep picking up the 3 points is all that matters at the minute
Great performance from us last night but I couldn't help thinking how bad must the Spanish league be this when we outplayed the team top of their league by 8 points having only conceded 7 goals all season?
La Liga has lost a lot of players recently so it’s def not as good as it used to be hence Barca being in the Europa currently. But their teams can still beat anyone on their day.
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the chairman of one of Qatar's biggest banks, has confirmed his foundation will bid to buy Manchester United.
BBC Sport understands that Ineos, owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, also officially made a bid before Friday's 22:00 GMT 'soft deadline' for proposals.
Billionaire Ratcliffe had already stated his interest in buying United.
The Glazer family, who bought United in 2005, are considering selling as they "explore strategic alternatives".
Sheikh Jassim's Qatari consortium said: "The bid plans to return the club to its former glories.
"The bid will be completely debt free via Sheikh Jassim's Nine Two Foundation, which will look to invest in the football teams, the training centre, the stadium and wider infrastructure, the fan experience and the communities the club supports.
"The vision of the bid is for Manchester United to be renowned for footballing excellence, and regarded as the greatest football club in the world."
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64684703
The next few weeks will be interesting when the state of the clubs finances get posted out in the open.
Hats off to the Qatari banker no-one had heard of until last night. Another State owned club possibly in the reckoning.
United is listed on the stock exchange, the accounts are already a matter of public record: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/05370076/filing-history
I don't want the Qataris anywhere near my f***ing club. The amount of big twitter accounts that have quite suddenly come out in favour of Qatar is quite $om€thing.
Fair play Silias for calling it out but I’m sure lesser well read Mancs will not be hit with the irony of potential Quatari owners!
Line-Up for the Leicester City match:
De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Shaw, Sabitzer, Fred, Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford, Weghorst
Subs: Heaton, Malacia, Varane, Sancho, Pellistri, Wan-Bissaka, Elanga, McTominay, Mainoo.
On to Barca and the cup final in fine fettle after the Leicester game.
David de Gea has equalled Peter Schmeichel’s record tally of clean sheets for Manchester United after putting in a fantastic performance against Leicester City.
Cup final really couldn't come at a worse time for us with that Barca game 3 days before it and Toon having had 8 days rest.
Right, I wouldn't be totally against completely sacking off the EL given top 4 looks pretty good now but I'd want to have a trophy in the bag first. So until the cup final is over we gotta take it seriously still and ETH certainly will.
Id rather f*** off the tinpot cup than the Europa tbh. I still think the PL teams, or at least those finishing in the top half of the table, should be excluded from the league cup. It needlessly congests the schedule for Teams also playing in Europe and I think given it gives access to the poundland UEFA cup it should be geared more towards bottom half PL/top half championship clubs to give them a financial boost by gaining access to a European comp to put them on better footing to compete in the PL or gain promotion to it
Get in there! It’s been too long since we can celebrate like this!
Not a bad birthday present for me. It’s the second time we’ve won it on my birthday after we beat Wigan in 2006.
Erik's at the wheel! How good does it feel!
Couldn't care less about this cup, but it's good to add any silverware to the cabinets. Been a little stingy with the additions since Sir Alex left, so at this point I will take anything.
Also good to finally get the side used to winning a trophy again and get them fired up for the next tough 3 months to keep us fighting on as many fronts as possible for as long as is possible. (I fully expect this to be the only trophy from this year but thats one more than I had on the cards in August)
Need to make more of the chances we get ,West Ham are passive on the ball can't see it staying like that.
Maguire booked for foul on Antonio.
McTominay now booked for us.
We have now scored 9 goals in the three rounds of FA Cup, all 9 are in the second half.
7
I wasn't shocked we won, while Utd have undoubtedly improved under Ten Haag, they've also been incredibly lucky during this run and given up a whole heap of chances. And we've been much better in recent weeks. When you play the way United play under Ten Haag and giving up the ball for large periods it's hard to dictate the game at the pace you want it to be. I was shocked at how much the players absolutely crumbled under the pressure though. Fernandes just lost the plot and was begging to come off Probably some naivety from Ten Haag to not shut up shop at 3-0.
Madness to think Liverpool have scored more goals and conceded less than Man Utd in the Premier League, yet Liverpool are going backwards and United marching towards the title if you'd read the media this week. Rio Ferdinand has a habit of opening his gob way too soon
I didn't think we were in the hunt in the title race, absolutely embarrassing performance today from us.
Well at least we've become very accustomed to batterings in the past few seasons so it doesn't sting too much. But I'd be lying if I said it wasn't truly painful viewing that second half.
It's a reality check definitely, there would have been a small bracket of deluded fans saying we were in the title race but any level-headed fan knew otherwise. I still don't think top 4 is assured yet especially now, but can take comfort in the fact that Spurs & Toon have fallen off a cliff in recent weeks.
I have faith in the manager to react appropriately, but it's worrying that we've already had our asses handed to us 3 times under him which was a worrying trend under Ole as well.
The motd analysis was fascinating with the old bad habits under the surface. Not that Liverpool can say much this season but still think even one midfielder in the summer and getting that forward line purring again and they could be back in business if they get a bit of luck.
Why Wout:
The BBC have started an interesting new podcast series called https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0f7wj7l?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile, which at the moment is focusing on the potential sale of Man Utd. It’s an interesting listen, especially for those of us who are interested in the financial aspects of the sale and it’s potential impacts.
Surprised he never got sent off for Madrid. An outstanding player of course but thought he had an aggressive side like Sergio Ramos.
I would love if we could put in, not an appeal but, a „wtf is this inconsistency“ given that the same tackle the day before, where the player didn’t get the ball wasn’t even a foul apparently 🙄
Knew we were screwed the minute that prick was drawn as the ref
Strange game. Fulham were the much better team and we looked like a team running on empty until a few crazy minutes turned the game on its head. Anyway another semi final booked.
1 down to West Ham win 3-1, 1 down to Fulham win 3-1.
Which is exactly why this international break couldn't have come at a better time.
Jadon Sancho in particular looked very tired during the match and it was just a lethargic performance in general until that crazy sequence of events that led to the 3 red cards for Fulham. Another trip to Wembley though which is the most important thing but we definitely can't play like that against Brighton otherwise we'll lose for sure.
Sky going with "World record bid" headline despite the fact that the initial bids would have been anyway. This is what we are in for going forward.
Money talks, will be clear as day the Qatar will pay what the Glazers want. Will be fun to see the Man Utd fans become bastions of richechousness when their soul is sold.
Won't be too long until we're begging for a draft version of football similar to the NFL.
As much as i want rid of the glazers, the Qatari government is not a fit and proper owner. Governments of foreign states have no business owning premier league teams. They distort the league and have, along with Chelski, permanently and irreparably damaged the fiscal health of the league and its sustainability
Manchester United have been charged after it's players surrounded a match official during the FA Cup tie against Fulham.
League form absolutely in the bin now, wouldn't shock me at all if we bottled top 4. And no I'm not worried about Spurs at all, I'm worried about Brighton.
We should still get top 4. I could have predicted 2 or 3 weeks ago that we were going to lose today, I didn't see the match but I knew without Casemiro this would be the type of fixture that we would lose. Especially being away from home at St James Park with Newcastle's fans extra pumped up facing a rival and wanting revenge for the Carabao Cup final. Although obviously it's not nice to lose I would say in my opinion that we won the match against Newcastle that really counted more than the others between the two sides this season.
On paper we do have the best run in but we've got so many games in other competitions the players are completely burned out.
They are just as well spurs are the only competition for top 4 this year!
I knew we were in for a tough day as soon as i saw Sabitzer and McTominay in midfield. Both passengers who will let even the most pedestrian teams run at our defence all day long.
Couple that with Weghorst who can't hold the ball up, can't head it and can't shoot. Every time our defence cleared the ball it came straight back.
I see Shaw has signed a new 4 year deal.
Played well. Everton were woeful but the first half was terrific when you consider not having Casemiro and Eriksen and as great as it is to have them back.
What the hell was De Gea thinking with his touch that gave them the third goal?
That's what you get with De Gea. He has a string of worldie performances which are the only reason we keep the score down but when he has an off day, it's an absolute stinker.
The bigger concern are these pair of clowns at CB for the rest of the season. Hopefully now at least Shaw is back he can replace Maguire at the weekend.
Wonder if West Ham will roll over as easily next Sunday
Away record against top 9 teams this season:
Won 0
Drew 1
Lost 7
Mentally so weak.
That's why we have absolutely zero chance of winning the league next season. No backbone to this team at all.
You have improved a lot and will buy again in the summer as usual so it’s not impossible they can turn some of those results next season imo!
We spend heavily every summer and it makes scant difference! ETH at least gives the impression he has what it takes to get us there but things change fast in football as we see every season.
So who will the new owner be?
Why buy Kane if they have Rashford?
I didn’t enjoy the Anthony Dunk square up the other night, Dunk would have floored him lol
United Are looking in with a good chance of taking their very first WSL title and qualifying for the Champions League for the first time
We're really trying to make this top 4 battle more complicated than it needs to be! At least our women are not doing the same in the WSL.
I don't think I'll ever stop laughing if you don't get to the Top 4. Still, I think you'll get there as you'll win most of your home games which should be about enough.
Ten Haag has "revolutionised" Man Utd and Liverpool are old & finished, yet probably going go finish within 3 points of each other. Football's a funny old game.
Erik ten Hag believes Marcus Rashford and Manchester United "will find each other" in the striker's ongoing contract discussions.
Rashford has scored 29 goals in all competitions for his boyhood club this season, his best in a United shirt.
Speaking before the visit to Bournemouth on Saturday, Ten Hag was asked for an update on the negotiations regarding the England international's future.
"I know [it is taking time]," he said.
"But I don't talk about the process. This is not important at the moment for me or Rashy.
"For him, it is to get more goals this season and he is playing a wonderful season and the team is playing a wonderful season.
"We have to get into the Champions League and focus on that. Marcus wants to stay and we want him to stay, so I think we will find each other."
Ha Rashy!
Champions League qualification secured! Whatever happens in the FA Cup final it's been a good season for us getting a trophy and returning to the Champions League. By this time last year we were falling apart and couldn't wait for the season to end but there's been a lot of progress compared to then and hopefully it continues into the future. We're handing over the Thursday night shifts to Liverpool for next season.
Well done, I had in my head from Christmas that the two Uniteds would qualify and they have deserved it, I guess that’s what continued investment will do for the Manchester United and Newcastle may be the same going forward now!
That'll do. 3rd place ain't bad at all.
Anthony Martial will miss Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester City with a hamstring injury.
The France international sustained the injury in Sunday's 2-1 win against Fulham at Old Trafford.
Tests revealed the 27-year-old had suffered a muscle tear, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
When I read that this morning my first thought was „he wasn’t gonna play anyway“
I'd still rather play Martial with 2 broken legs than Weghorst. Cannot wait to him to be gone.
Diogo Dalot has signed a new contract that will extend his stay with Manchester United until 30 June 2028, with an option for a further year.
Great news possibly eclipsed by the even better news that Phil f***ing Jones is finally off the payroll 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Some amount of £££ spent on Phil!
One on the way in, one on the way out?
Haha reunited with Dychey of course, he literally couldn't be a more Dyche-style player if he tried.
This Qatar bid is so boring, infact, this whole process has been so boring. I still think INEOS is the preferred bidder, pretty clear the Glazers don’t want to full sell unless the asset is way over valued.
RB Leipzig have held talks with Man Utd over the signing of Anthony Elanga, according to Sky in Germany.
Man Utd want between £12.89m and £17.19m for the forward.
Im so over the takeover saga and the relentless greed of the vampiric glazers. Just get them out of the club at long last so we can finally move on and start to make actual sustainable progress on the long overdue investments (training centre, stadium etc)
Assume Qatar never got involved, wouldn't SJR be seen as our knight in shining armour if he does manage wrestles control of the club from the Glazers?
Paris Saint Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has played a significant role in talks over Sheikh Jassim's proposed takeover of Man Utd, reports The Athletic.
Al-Khelaifi has reportedly met the Glazers and Raine to discuss the deal.
Other clubs, according to the report, want the Premier League to investigate the source of funds behind Sheikh Jassim's proposal.
Manchester United want close to £60m in order to consider selling Jadon Sancho in this summer’s transfer window, according to reports
Manchester United have agreed a deal with Chelsea to buy Mason Mount for £60m. Mount at Man Utd, what do you think about this? I'm erring on the side of caution with this signing. Mount could either be a flop or a success.
Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea's contract is likely to end on Friday with no decision yet over whether he will remain at Old Trafford.
It is understood the framework of a contract extension that had been agreed was subsequently changed.
Man United In and Outs this week:
Zidane Iqbal (Man United to FC Utrecht)- Undisclosed fee
He’s another source of goals from midfield which is a plus but not sure where he will fit in unless yous want to be more expansive.
Mount is a strange one - I actually really like him as a player and think he will be a good signing, but unless Man Utd plan on changing their style this season to more of a 433 or the inverted full back, it seems a bit bizzarre. Suspect most Man Utd fans would agree the midfield could do with an upgrade, but with the current de Gea situation and striker situation, with a limited budget, surely a striker is the biggest pressing issue?
I guess with one failed Mason (Greenwood) comes another with Mount, so we shall have to see what this does to the team.
I’m still holding out for a Kane move before the window is closed if Bayern step up their pursuit.
I would have put striker, defensive midfielder and goalie at the top of my list personally
Did Fergie not sign Martial?
Onana will be a way better keeper than De Gea will be though, although it all seems very strange how De Gea accepted to be a #2 and then Man Utd pulled the contract on him - very strange I must say. Onana is probably way below the elite goalkeepers out there, but he's in a good second tier. He's good with his feet and will set up quick attacks. Although he is no where near as good a shot stopper as De Gea.
Will be interesting to see how Man Utd get on, last time when Man Utd tried to be way less compact they got absolutely battered before Ten Haag changed it.
Also difficult to find a new decent keeper although I think Onana is a good player.
Always thought Martial was purchased in 2013!
2015 with the legendary Tyler OH YESSSSSS against yous lot
De Gea was a fantastic servant for us but the time is right now to move on. His errors are becoming far too commonplace plus he doesn't have the upside of being good with his feet which if that's the way ETH wants us to play then so be it. Don't know a lot about Onana (What's My Name) but he must have something about him.
Ohhh Yesss indeed, Tyler the Manc!
Tyler the Manc who had an orgasm when Sergio Aguero scored in the last minute to win the league.
I feel a bit off that he hasn't been given the respectful send off that he deserved. Although he has dropped off a little as of late, the man single handedly kept us in league positions we had no right to be in far far far too often since the departure of Fergie. He deserved a chance to say goodbye in front of Old Trafford
Manchester United are edging closer to an agreement for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana after more talks between the clubs, Sky Sports News has been told
It’s thought discussions over a compromise on the fee have been very positive with personal terms not expected to be a problem.
Manchester United have agreed a fee of around £47m for Andre Onana, talkSPORT understands.
The structure of the deal expected to be agreed today.
He is then expected to join in time to head to the US for their pre-season tour with his new teammates.
Excited to see what he brings to us.
He was the Ajax keeper in the 2019 semi final wasn’t he?
Yes he was indeed.
Al Nassr are in talks with Manchester United over the signing of defender Alex Telles.
Discussions centre around a fee.
Didn't even know he was still with us
Jonny Evans returning to Man Utd… anyone have that on their bingo card when Leicester got relegated?
With De Gea and Jones leaving I guess they were determined to get one former champion back by any means!
Andre Onana confirmed! Looking forward to seeing what he'll do in a Man United shirt.
Bruno officially capitano!!!!
Aye the pauper protests as I call them 🤣
Alex Telles has left Manchester United and joined Al-Nassr.
The 30-year-old full-back has joined the Saudi Premier League outfit following 50 first-team appearances for the Reds.
Telles signed for United from Porto in October 2020 and spent last season on at Sevilla.
Charlie Savage has left Manchester United to join League One side Reading for an undisclosed fee.
The 20-year-old - son of ex-Leicester and Derby midfielder Robbie - has signed a four-year deal at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
We beat Arsenal twice in the same match in a friendly yesterday. Won 2-0 after 90 minutes then for some reason a penalty shoot-out took place after and we beat them again
Haha must be an American audience that need pens to make it exciting!
Lost the plot with this transfer, what the hell does anyone see in this guy? Stats are shocking... couldn't even manage 10 goals in Serie A! Another Weghorst FFS
He’s only like 20 though is he not?
Yeah but there's no guarantee he'll improve. If we genuinely want to challenge for the league we need a nailed on 30 goal a season striker, not a wild punt.
True if your in the champions league you would think you’s would get one easily enough(with United you can pay them enough even outside the main comp).
We either need to break the bank to sign Osimhen (still an unproven risk granted but he's got the Haaland-like numbers in a big 5 league at least) or even go for Ollie Watkins who's improving every season and would get much belter service at United.
Why aren't United in for Kane at this time, or is it because the media all say Kane wants to break away from the prem and thereby forsake Alan Shearer's record?
Levy won't sell to an English club. Even digging his heels in with Bayern. He's not a good buy for the Ten Hag project either, at best we'd get 2 or 3 prolific years out of him and that's if he doesn't get injured since he has a patchy record in that department.
Manchester United are closing on an agreement with Atalanta to sign striker Rasmus Hojlund, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Denmark international will not play for the Serie A side against Bournemouth in their pre-season friendly this afternoon as a deal moves closer.
They’ve agreed 85m Euro!
At best he'll put up Martial numbers.
It’s a really strange signing, paying a lot of money for potential and if he doesn’t hit the ground running he’s going to be a huge target for stick (see Nunez). Can only assume they see him as more of an investment if it doesn’t work out, whereas Kane will be a similar price but there’s no resale there. Or the full cost of the Kane deal was too much
He looks a good player to me imo!
In fairness to Nunez I would argue his first season was decent enough!
So if and when Hojlund gets signed will our transfer business be over then? I don’t feel like we have invested enough in other areas, especially as it seems further departures are inevitable before the window closes, especially defensive ones.
I was gonna say they don’t buy enough players?
Manchester United have agreed a 10-year extension to their partnership with Adidas worth a minimum of £900m.
United's new deal with the German kit manufacturer runs until June 2035, with their previous 10-year deal having been worth £750m.
It is thought to be the largest kit deal in Premier League history, based on revenue per season.
Rasmus Hojlund has completed his Manchester United medical ahead of his £72m move from Atalanta.
Hojlund is likely to be formally presented this weekend - possibly at United's pre-season game against Lens at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Manchester United are in ‘concrete talks’ over a move to sign Benjamin Pavard.
The World Cup-winning French defender is said to be keen to leave Bayern Munich this summer.
Far more importantly, West Ham are gonna take Maguire off us, and pay us 30m for the pleasure.
Mugs.
Will he definitely go this time?
We're still the mugs really for that 50M loss though
And tbf I think he's a good signing for West Ham. Less pressure and expectation and it's more his level (see Leicester where he was very good). 100% a Moyes-like signing! McTominay to follow perhaps...
Getting rid of the deadwood!
Looks like it.
Fenerbahce have agreed a deal in principle with Manchester United for midfielder Fred.
The fee is in the region of €15m.
Fred has been given permission to go for a medical and finalise personal terms
What a joke. He's no Casemiro but 15M is an insult, ETH must not rate him at all!
Was gonna say is he not mid 20s and was purchased for double that?
That was a poor performance from us against Wolves. We were lucky to win to be honest, they dominated the match and it's wasteful finishing in front of goal that stopped them from getting anything. If they continue to play like that for the rest of the season they'll be nowhere the relegation zone by the end. As for us we must do better in future but getting the 3 points was the minimum we could have asked for so that is a positive.
Yeah it didn’t scream confidence and if we continue to play like that at home we won’t be challenging this season for any trophies.
If Pavard comes in that may help firm up the back line, but it’s the attacking options where we are still missing a trick with. I’m not convinced the likes of Garnacho, Sancho, Højlund or Mount are going to be putting away a high number of goals this season. With Rashford who was in excellent form after the World Cup last winter, I don’t know what sort of season he will have, but I can’t see a good enough system around him to warrant the opportunities.
Maguire will leave, not sure about McTominay who featured in the game, does anyone actually want him from us right now?
I fear unless a big signing comes before the transfer window closes we won’t have much of a shot at glory this season.
United have made plenty of big signings not just this summer but in multiple previous windows!
I wouldn’t read too much into the performance tbh. Wolves only ever turn up against us and are always deeply frustrating to play against. Caught the first half and honestly I’m not buying the Garnacho hype. So many promising moments lost last night by him either failing to spot the open pass until it was too late, or just straight up trying to run on and running into the Wolves bus and losing possession
West Ham's deal to sign Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has fallen through.
Sky Sports News understands a departure for Maguire this late in the transfer window would have left Manchester United little time to bring in a replacement.
A potential move for Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard is looking unlikely due to reduced need if Harry Maguire stays at Old Trafford.
Also, there are FFP constraints in the absence of money Manchester United would have received from a Maguire sale.
^
Two pieces of bad news right there
Dean Henderson will remain a Manchester United player this summer unless a replacement becomes available.
United had been in talks with Nottingham Forest over a loan with an obligation.
Sky Sports News has been told Henderson is an important member of the squad and even more so now with Tom Heaton out injured.
F
Where would Maguire go if it wasn't West Ham??
You would have thought Maguire would be desperate to go. Especially for his England career.
Maguire doing the right thing and staying, Man Utd's own fault when they hand out these massive contracts.
Can never read too much in to the early season games, but Man Utd last night reminded me so much of Liverpool vs Fulham last season. Wolves walzed through the Man Utd midfield with ease, I think Man Utd must have one of the oldest squads now too. Couldn't believe Onana got away with that penalty One of the worst decisions you're likely to see all year.
Onana was lucky for sure but if the push is for VAR to not get involved as much (which kind of defeats the purpose of even having it) then it made no sense why it overturned the Brentford penalty decision on Sunday.
Maguire is now our version of Winston Bogarde then.
Looks like Greenwood is coming back to the first team at Man Utd. I'm sure the PR department will be out in full force with the "oh but we couldn't break his contract" yadda yadda yadda. Horrible club and brainless from Ten Haag. I can't see this ending well at all for a club so concerned about image.
Looks like Greenwood is coming back to the first team at Man Utd. I'm sure the PR department will be out in full force with the "oh but we couldn't break his contract" yadda yadda yadda. Horrible club and brainless from Ten Haag. Feel sorry for the fans who are put in an uncompromising position about this. I can't see this ending well at all for a club so concerned about image.
Disgusting!
Yes it wouldn't be a good look at all. Mind you Benjamin Mendy was also found not guilty and he's been snapped up by some Ligue 1 team so clearly some people have short memories.
Suppose at least he moved clubs and leagues
Literally a carbon copy performance from last season against a top 9 side away from home.
Crystal Palace have held talks with Manchester United about goalkeeper Dean Henderson, talkSPORT understands.
Palace want to sign Henderson on loan with an option to buy
Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood will leave the club by mutual agreement after a six-month internal investigation into his conduct.
It’s the right course of action but honestly it’s a disgrace how it got so dragged out, the absolute bs statement put out by the club and just how this was handled. It’s vile. Leaves a very bad taste in my mouth how much of the club hierarchy was apparently fine with him coming back
The right decision. He’ll probably end up making a move to Saudi Arabia. He’d fit in well there.
Even the statement put out today... how can you make this decision and yet still come across so badly? His is also vile, but that's probably less surprising.
Anyone read the latest from The Athletic? Some superb reporting going on, with some obvious top sources within the club. Seems like a complete disaster from the current chief executive. Not a good look for the club at all.
The Athletic has been absolutely pivotal in securing the outcome we have. The reporting has been great. It’s been clear for a long time that the whole top of the organisation was rotted, from owners down, but this further underlines the incompetence and complete incapability of anyone involved to manage anything more strenuous than boiling a kettle
Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is flying to England to complete his move to Manchester United, talkSPORT understands.
United have agreed a £6million deal for the 25-year-old.
Bayindir’s arrival will pave the way for Dean Henderson to join Crystal Palace.
That was the fastest ever in the Premier League that United had gone two goals down.
Iwould've written off that first 5 minutes as really unlucky if it wasn't such a common occurrence for us to be so sloppy.
That said, well fought to come back from an early setback, until we actually went ahead and somehow found ourselves on the back foot against a 10 men Forest...
Need a proper wake up call before we face off Arsenal next week, otherwise it'll be the usual disappointment away against the top 10
Wonder if Maguire is regretting not playing for West Ham when seeing this on Match of the Day.
He wouldn’t get on!!
What a wild game that was, took me back to the Moyes era where we went behind every single week to lower opposition.
Tottenham have given Sergio Reguilon permission to undergo a medical at Manchester United, talkSPORT understands.
United have turned their attentions to Reguilon after abandoning their pursuit of Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella after the Spaniard played against AFC Wimbledon last night.
Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Turkey goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce.
The 25-year-old joins the Red Devils in a deal worth around £6million after Dean Henderson left for Crystal Palace.
Bayindir becomes the second goalkeeper to arrive at Old Trafford this summer following the arrival of Andre Onana.
Have Lee Grant, Tom Heaton and the mountain of other keepers they had been released?
Lee Grant retired 2 seasons ago! Heaton is still knocking about.
On big wages no doubt!
He’s on 45k a week
So quite low on our salary structure, and we lost De Gea who was the highest paid.
Wish I had half the confidence levels in my general life that you have when you sprout absolute shite about United
Ouch must have hit a nerve there
The point remains though the United salary structure is ridiculous compared to some teams and yet United fans act like yous don’t spend money and don’t buy the players the likes of city do!
As I long suspected, the Glazers pulling the club from sale. The Norwich scarves will be out in full force again, despite yet another summer of spending!
Jokes aside, I suspect this might be because there's a whiff of the Premier League potentially allowing clubs to sell their own TV rights.
Ending a game with Maguire and Evans in 2023.
United will never win anything with the two full backs they have!
Hojlund looks a decent prospects from the short preview we got!
Seems daft to have this play out in the media. Don’t know why they didn’t arrange for him to leave in the transfer window.. although I guess that’s what happens when you pay people mad money.
He's managed to throw his England career in the bin quicker than Dele Alli, impressive.
Really fun game yesterday despite the result, Arsenal definitely edged it but we did play a lot better than the Spurs game at least. We just need to accept we won't be earning any points from the big away games this year and try and win all our home ones.
Anthony now under investigation.
Not a good few weeks for Man Utd in the PR department!
^ You seem to care more about Man United than you do about Liverpool
re Antony: Let's see what happens, innocent until proven guilty.
What’s he accused of?
Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho will train away from the first team until issues between the player and manager Erik ten Hag are resolved, the club has confirmed.
United said in a statement: "Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training programme away from the first team group pending resolution of a squad discipline issue."
This follows Ten Hag's revelation that Sancho had been left out of his squad for the Premier League defeat at Arsenal earlier this month because the winger's training performances were not up to the level required.
So that's approximately £200m worth of wingers unable to play for the club because of disciplinary/personal issues. Great..
More minutes for Garnacho at least who's far better than either of those wasters.
Perhaps but let's not forget he's only 19 and has shown some glimpses of brilliance already. Also exudes a much better attitude from what I've seen so far too.
I fear this is the beginning of the end for Ten Hag.
All of the results have gone against us today! *sigh*
Seen a lot of Glazer bashing on social media again tonight. You’d think they haven’t given the last 5 managers millions in the transfer market.
Just watching the MOTD highlights, why on Earth did the take of a striker for a defensive midfielder when they went 0-2 down?
Probably trying to avoid another battering!
Well that's us out of the champions league, nice job Erik!
Onana is reminding me so much of Fabien Barthez when he was at United, there's so much clumsiness to his play at the moment. It's looking like another version of the 2021/22 season for us where we'll having nothing much to play for the majority of the season the way things are going.
Onana was a terrible signing, that one is on Ten Haag. I said at the time he was poor, totally get De Gea isn't great with how Ten Haag wants to play football, but just seems a daft signing at the moment. No idea why they passed up signing Raya.
It’s all well and good to want your keeper to do more on the ball for your style but I’d rather a keeper who can save the ball first and foremost!
Another poor performance but very relived that we've won thanks to those two stoppage time goals from Scott McTominay. It was good also to get a win as a tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson's wife Cathy who passed away yesterday.
Was gonna say that - is it a new start or papering over the cracks. Another top 4 finish would be a success for ETH imo. But as ever they have the players and resources to be challenging for the title.
McTominay is like our Origi, not gonna make any best XIs but a true cult hero who saves us time and time again.
Yeh he’s a good player!
A great night for two much maligned players. Well done to both
RIP Bobby Charlton. One of the greatest legends of the club.
This is the most apathetic I think I've ever been after any defeat lol.
How long until Ten Haag gets sacked? Utd look toothless, not sure how they're going to hit any form anytime soon.
What would sacking him actually achieve though, who's out there that would suddenly start winning us games.
Hmm I wouldn't say that just yet, we have a few bad eggs in there no doubt but I just think the players are all so devoid of any confidence and no one is stepping up.
FWIW I think he has enough credit in the bank from last season and we have a kinder run of fixtures now but it could get to the Solksjaer point of no return. If that happens I guess we've got Darren Fletcher to look forward to, yay
Or Ciaran McKenna!
Nothing changes by changing the squad or the manager. Nothing will change until the Glazers sell the club. Because the rot starts at the top. You can tinker with the squad and the manager all you want but when everything else is entirely rotted away, it’ll always just be a matter of a couple of years before the rot takes over the new manager and then the Glazer PR machine whips the fanbase into thinking that the problem is the manager and the next cycle begins.
Did I say anything about money? No. Don’t put words in my mouth
The problem is not financial backing in the window, it’s the glazers interference and refusal to actually authorise approaches for the players the manager and scouts identify, instead only authorising who they want and then panic buying at the end of a window and overpaying for people like 9th on the list. They hoard money and refuse to invest in the facilities and ground, they refuse to put a proper sporting structure in place and ultimately only care about their dividends
Pick a problem and you’ll find the Glazers continued existence as the root cause. While they still own the club, we will be stuck in this rut. Only a full sale or the death of the most interfering duo will save the club
Yeh the glazers are clearly an issue but I think United fans like to fall back on them as an excuse for just not being very good at the moment.
What’s next for this club… Honestly I don’t recall a darker period in United’s recent history and that says a lot considering some of the past managers who’ve been given the job since 2013.
Ten years later and what a dismal feeling it is to be a Manchester United fan. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel?
Of course there's light at the end of the tunnel, there's always light at the of the tunnel in football unless if you're going out of business. This is just our time to have struggles but it won't be like this for the rest of eternity. All it takes is a winning run of matches then the narrative will change, football has always been like that. Just hope that we bounce back against Luton in the Premier League on Saturday.
I can only laugh at the agonies and woes of United fans 🤣 I mean even in the last ten so called barren years you have won more than some clubs have in their history. Imagine being a Newcastle fan lol. That’s real agony for the fans. Same with Liverpool when they didn’t win the league we still won more than enough to keep the fans happy!
All il say is 10 years turns into 30 years very quickly!
3 points we'll take it.
A few clear cut chances missed and some half chances which could've been better. Attackers clearly not in any vein of form, another goal from a player who isn't in the front 3.
The run of every single win being by one goal continues!
It’s crazy how fickle football can be. If we hasn’t missed so many sitters in the first half of our match versus them, we would be above 3/3 Manager or the month winning Postecoglou‘s Tottenham in the table, despite playing awfully the whole season.
And we’re above Newcastle despite there being a difference of 17 in their favour for the goal-difference after only 12 games I think their big wins have really their clouded people to their struggles this season.
Newcastle's away form has actually been garbage for ages. And it amuses me that they're allowed to use their injuries as an excuse but apparently we're in crisis despite having had a similar number of injuries all season.
Garnacho with one of the best goals ever scored in the history of the Premier League in a 3-0 win against Everton. No team has won more matches in the league since the start of October and that's 5 wins from the last 6 matches. Like I said all it takes is a winning run of matches then the narrative will change which is what is happening now hearing the media, hope we can keep this up. Only time will tell if we'll be back at Goodison Park again next season for another Premier League match.
We're not far away now from any of the sides above us in the league table.
That was absolutely glorious from Garnacho
First time we've won a match by more than a goal in the league this season and back to a zero goal difference on top.
Why is Maguire suddenly captain again? What did Bruno do.
I was very wrong about Gordon, thought he was a terrible signing but he's turned into an absolute monster at Toon.
A deserved defeat for us tonight, Newcastle were dominate for almost the whole game and showed a lot more intensity than us. We can consider ourselves "lucky" if that's the right word that it was only 1-0.
Turns out he wasn't, the graphic was wrong on TNT Sports lol.
The next three home games are crucial. If Erik wins at least two of them, it will give him a cushion for the Anfield spanking.
I wanna see how long we can keep the no draws run going. Could even beat Spurs of 18/19 who made it all the way to March before their first draw!
We'll see, might be against Chelsea, that we'll draw.
Sky reporting that the Ratcliffe deal will be announced...you've guessed it...early next week.
Manchester United have banned four media outlets from today’s news conference after claiming they had not been given right of reply to negative stories about the club.
Sky, ESPN, Manchester Evening News and the Mirror have all been excluded from manager Erik ten Hag’s briefing ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League game with Chelsea after reporting some players were unhappy with the Dutchman and his methods.
Surely tonight we won't see Chelsea winning at Old Trafford for the first time since 2013.
Battle of the 2 fallen giants.
So this will be why the tram to Altrincham was so packed this evening
According to all the media outlets we're in a state of catastrophe
We're only 3 points behind Manchester City as well!
I know the media love their narratives - the leagues wide open this year the old three year itch is affecting city as much as any other team that have been going for four in a row!
Indeed they will be unbeaten from Xmas until the champions league starts most likely
Win on Saturday and we go into Sunday level on points with City. The season is all over the place!
Thanks!
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and defender Harry Maguire have won November's Premier League manager and player of the month awards.
Wow how shit must all the other managers be?! Sack him, they said!
Bournemouth have 13 points from their last six Premier League games. They are an in-form team, so shouldn’t be underestimated. Still, it’s at Old Trafford, so I’m expecting a win.
I guess for the next week it's going to be all doom and gloom again.......
The manager of the month curse was bound to strike
Just such a weird team. Probably shows the inconsistency around, reminds me a lot of Liverpool last season as I've said so many times. Tough times, but you'll get through it.
One shot on target in a must win game.
Dead club.
Someone ought to run a poll (not on BuzzJack though) to see what people say is the worst time to be a Man Utd supporter in their recent history, and this moment probably would epitomise most fan's frustrations.
Chris Sutton's comments about the Liverpool Vs Man Utd match in his Premier League predictions on the BBC football website are the exact type of comments that would give me maximum motivation to prove him wrong if I was a professional player. If I was the manager I would frame his article and stick it on the wall in the dressing room for everyone to see. The man's got a hate boner for Man United anyway but even by his standards it's quite outrageous.
There's not many bigger satisfactions in football than to shut people up like him who chat shit the way that they do, he'd probably have a coronary if the match goes opposite to how he thinks it will go.
I’m fairly confident United will win now on Sunday because of the previous games it’s always the way these things work out!
To be honest I could see us getting SOMETHING I.e. a draw as Ten Hag has inherited the Ole trait of getting a result every time he desperately needs one and just enough to keep his head above water. Even a narrow defeat would be acceptable but if its even half as bad as last time we went to Anfield I think he'll properly be on borrowed time.
Yeh that’s what I mean plus we are due a defeat the way we’ve been playing the last few games, been riding our luck!
What a turnaround! Absolutely buzzing. I thought we had missed the chance to get something from the game when we couldn't score before half time when we had a bit of momentum. Beating the Villa is great.
Maybe saved Erik’s job!
Probably has for a few weeks.
I think he is the right man for a difficult job but needed that win yesterday!
I felt it was less about us playing well and more Villa being complete and utter bottlejobs but we take the W and move! Great for Rasmus to get the proverbial monkey off his back.
Always thought he looks a decent player, his movement is superb and he’s only 22!
I thought Utd played well yesterday. Villa played in to their hands though - if Villa had set up in a low block at 2-0, there was no way Utd were scoring. Can't help but feel this result, just puts off the inevitable though with Ten Haag. I can see Ratcliffe wanting to install his own man and if Utd don't get Champions League football this season, I think it is going to be bad. I did laugh at the fact the camera kept banning to Brailsford in the crowd. As usual, I'll be grabbing my popcorn when this goes terribly wrong - Clive Woodward MK II.
I was pleased to see Rasmus getting his 1st Premier League goal yesterday and I hope this can be the first of many to come for him. It was good fighting sprit that we showed to come back from 2-0 down but now it's about taking that sprit into the upcoming matches starting with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Donny van de Beek has signed for Eintracht Frankfurt on loan from Manchester United.
The 26-year-old Dutch midfielder will join the Bundesliga side for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
With Jim being at United today, I expect the 'Erik's been told if we lose to Wigan he's out' rumour mill to get into full swing.
Manchester United have exercised the break clause in Sergio Reguilon’s loan – and the player will return to Tottenham.
Reguilon joined United on Deadline Day in the summer – primarily to cover for injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Any realistic chance we sign anyone in Jan?
No one good that's for sure.
