Very nice entries from J00p, uhsting, Rollo and actually most revealed so far, this was a strong contest with a lot of good variety. Especially liked seeing Sirenia (a name I'd not heard in years) turn up.

I'd heard it once before but definitely got into it more with this relisten, got to love the solid minute and a half of screeching feedback at the end in particular xx (seriously though, here for such a gloriously intense song)

Would have been quite surprising if Bilmuri was anyone other than Whoddy as well - a dead ringer for The 1975 apart from the tacked on death metal parts I don't think the combination really worked but points for being memorable x

Ansel's entry was sweet, very nice singing accent for it, in contrast to the heavier stuff that there was a lot of in this contest.

did find The Audition's song endearing in the way it was already a decade out of date when it was released. Though perhaps not the most surprising bottom 2 (so far).

Safe to say I probably won't be replicating my success with this artist when I sent them eight years ago (at least I double bluffed you all x) I get the ambivalence, it did take a few listens for it to really click with me too, but it really has a quiet power and it's a really impressive composition featuring over 50 individually recorded guitar pieces.

Fantastic top 3 there though, any would be a wonderful winner.

All controversy aside, the instrumental of the Silencer track was excellent. Vocals were a bit of a harder sell.

I did know that one was Leww already as he'd mentioned the song to me before as something he might send as a bit of an ~out there~ song contest choice some day.

No big deal as I'm sure it'll sort itself out by the end but the scoreboard has got a little out of sync (looks like the votes added when you posted Dan's votes were a different set - one that gave 12 points to Italia 90 etc.)

RFC being behind Italia 90 certainly makes sense - thank you for another one to add to the list of artsy post punk bands that I have no choice but to stan. Quite a standout debut entry from Dan as well, a bit of a System Of A Down vibe ~

WOW! Suedehead2 has grabbed the winner on the last set of votes! It would have been a much neater way of presenting the results had certain ones not reminded me of errors and changed the votes midway through the results. I will need to do some tidying up of the figures, but there are your results, and full results will be shared in spreadsheet form shortly.

My votes snatching the win away from one of my big faves to give it to another one of my big faves Well done Suede, a fantastic winner, glad that the lack of Spotify support didn't hamper it.

I'll save commenting on the rest until the tiebreaks are sorted but am hopeful I may have managed to snatch 10th place there (sorry Jerd if I knock you out of the top 10 on that tiebreak although goals @ us finishing with the same number of points anyway x)

Ooft that's a close one, both fantastic though in very different ways! Congrats Suedehead Love seeing all my top 3 do so well, East of Eden is the best Asian song contest entry I've heard in a long time and not much to complain about as all my votes finished quite respectfully (apart from Kingdom, aww x)

I was sure this would flop after the first few votes and Synctube reaction so very pleased to continue my top 10 streak + 100% top 10 record with Lights and Motion <3 He was probably my introduction to post rock and continues to be really good to this day. Thank you for all the votes and I would highly recommend his back catalogue, particularly my other two song contest entries, Fireflies and The Spectacular Quiet if you don't know them, they are two of my all time favourite songs of the genre.

Once again, I'm really sorry for not voting in time. I was listening to the 4th song in the playlist and my body suddenly want me to take a rest. I promise it won't happen again in future contests, esp. BJSC. If anything changed in the scoreboard, it'd be Iz's entry because I'd probably gave it an easy +12.

Sorry to be annoying but I'm pretty sure ties are usually broken first by number of votes (although tbf I think that's more just a convention that's usually copied over from BJSC than a specifically proscribed rule for Nuggets - and in fact while digging back through some old results it seems it's only been in the last 5 or so contests that hosts have bothered breaking ties at all - so it's kind of a case of both myself and Jade having a Schrödinger's 10th place finish I guess this matters less in the absence of a stats thread x)

In any case ~ this is the second time in the span of two weeks (after the Foreign Language III spinoff) where my entire top 4 have finished in the top 5 of a song contest on here so that's kajda krejza - the absolute taste on display once again *.* And even better here because I also voted for the other song in the top 5 and the one in 6th as well! In fact literally only one of my votes finished in the bottom half (Ocean Alley, my 2 pointer) so basically nothing to complain about at all here. Full Of Hell being top half is ikonek in particular x

When I found my song (shoutout to a YouTube video by Drew Gooden where he mentioned a metal song with an incredible saxophone solo which I had to immediately check out lmao) I had a rare level of confidence that I could actually have a pretty big hit on my hands - I suppose 10th/11th fits the bill well enough, I see it had the joint 2nd most votes out of all the songs here as well which is pretty reaffirming but just a lot of them being lower scores ofc. Glad that it was generally well received. Thanks muchly to Dan and Suede for the only medals (both golds!), close to a 12 swap with the latter! Then also thanks to Dobbo, Savan, Wardy, Chez, Rollo, Jade, Nate, Whoddy, AllStar, Cody, RFC and Julian for the rest of the pointage, good thing I kept a list since I had to wait until the very end to be able to acknowledge any of them

Thanks Wardy for the hosting and I apologise that I inadvertently stressed you out near the end, I really shouldn't have said anything oops. I didn't point out the scoreboard error to try and pressure you into fixing it on the fly, I was just noting it to make it easier to troubleshoot if it somehow didn't fix itself by the end which I'm 99% sure it would have done but nevermind!

Congrats Suedehead! Your song was my favorite of the contenders, and closest to getting points from me so I'm glad you didn't end up needing them. What an exciting finish!

I'm happy enough with 18th, at least I can say I was 2nd on the first scoreboard. And I got votes from 12 people, nearly half! 'Deepest Darkness' was actually a BJSC potential but I did a swap with the Bartees Strange song that I wanted to send to Nuggets, but figured everyone would know it was me - maybe I should've after seeing Chez sent Lights & Motion again (great choice by the way!).

MAY-A was my 12 and I'm sorry to see Y'all Starlight kind of disown it, thanks for the discovery! I was also curious who was behind Wanda Jackson and The Audition, was thinking someone might think the latter was sent by me, I think I used a song of theirs in CD Swap years ago. Glad I could save them from last at least.

What an incredible set of results!

My top 4 finishing 1st, 2nd, 6th and 3rd with my own entry 5th! Italia 90 the winner on the 'Olympic Medal' table too

Was slightly hesitant about sending more post-punk in Leisure Activities after the complete failure of DEADLETTER in UP, so delighted to see it finish as high as 5th. They're both comfortably in my top 10 of the year.

Wasn't fussed on the wining song at all but what an epic comeback, as many as 38 points off the top at one point and seldom inside the top 10 even throughout the whole reveal, kudos there and congrats to Suede! A very very long time since your only other contest win on here I believe?

Pretty satisfied with a midtable placing. Interesting set of results for it, only the winning song received more votes yet not a single voter awarded it a medal placing. Very much unlike the usual breakdowns for much of my entries to site-wide contests.

Sorry for the controversy - just a disclaimer, I obviously do not align with or are pro-Nazi / Neo-Nazi in any way, and the song I picked was the only one of Silencer's I was familiar with. Out of interest, was that a reason for people to not enjoy the song or did it put people off? Based on what I know of the band (and the genre of music) they seem to address difficult topics, not necessarily known whether or not they align with them, and I think that is a common theme in death metal music. They take on the shocking subjects no-one else will touch and sing from perspectives that no-one else would. I guess it's up to the listener or the public if consumption of that kind of music is endorsement of the subject itself. I find it more of an alternative perspective that doesn't shy away from the horrors we've faced as human beings and explores the psyche, the motives etc. behind them, something we will never tap into because it's not our scene. I guess I liken it to watching crime documentaries on Netflix - it doesn't mean I support the crime, but I do have a curiosity to explore a side of human function that is not at all what I align with. It comes with human instinct.

As for the song itself, the horror of it and the background story behind its creation truly fascinated me. It's a blatant dive into someone's destructive mental health, and as someone who struggles with depression, I was blown away by hearing something so raw from someone who is going through a version of what I'm going through that's THIS extreme. It's something we know as people but not on this level. Rumours are the lead singer is in an insane asylum which I wouldn't doubt too much LOL.

Congratulations to Suedey (I think I may have managed to miss your song on my listens completely, I don't know how I did that?) but a good edition. Guitar music isn't my fave but definitely did take home a few good bits. Thanks all!

It was largely the rather unpleasant vocal that put me off the song, but I will confess reading up about the band did not help at all. Although I never thought about it that way so thank you for allowing me to see it in a different light, it is similar to how I can get some enjoyment viewing extreme or polarising horror films.

Love that whole Top 5 and very pleased to be 3rd in such a strong competition! Thanks for hosting Wardy, you did a great job - sorry that I wasn't able to be here for the results.
I discovered that crushed track just before the contest and was sold from about 20 seconds in when that lush synth lead crashes in, I'm happy that so many others also enjoyed it also. The lyrics in particular just drew me in.
Shame that Have A Nice Life just missed out but I did everything I could to support it for the win so I won't feel too guilty at it missing out, and many congrats to Suedey ofc!
