Starting in about 10 minutes!

Best of luck, everyone! biggrin.gif

Posted by: SKOB 13th January 2011, 07:48 PM

I have a feeling my favourite might win this
My own entry won't

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 07:57 PM

Kicking off then!

Last time I gave myself the deciding vote, this time I have the opening one. I've got progressively worse results so far but have sent a song which people have tipped to win, I will stress that I didn't know it was to be released! drama.gif Paris Angels, Strange Talk and Glasser take the top marks, whilst four points means the much maligned Swing Kids won't end up with nothing!

Posted by: Dandy* 13th January 2011, 08:03 PM

I did NOT have you down for Grouplove! ohmy.gif

Posted by: Mart!n 13th January 2011, 08:03 PM

Well I pretty much guessed who Grouplove belong to, I was right on the button biggrin.gif I saw it on Mark's personal chart at Haven, Ha

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 08:04 PM

No?! It's been in my personal chart for about 4 weeks now, although I didn't post it this week for that reason.........

-----------

Dandy got his first top 10 finish last time around with Cicada and will be looking to improve again this time and got off to a good start as I gave 15 to Strange Talk. It naturally drops out of the top 3 though as Paris Angels increase in the lead, and Glasser get a second high set of points. Five songs pick up their first votes.

Posted by: Chris. 13th January 2011, 08:04 PM

I quite liked the Grouplove track, it's not that memorable, but was good enough to go on my ipod and came on shuffle earlier and I remembered what a great track it is. now I can't remember again.

Posted by: Dandy* 13th January 2011, 08:05 PM

Young Galaxy was just wub.gif

This is pretty much how I felt about it. It took at least five listens before I properly started to enjoy it, which means it's probably not the ideal track to send and why I didn't think it would do overly well.

Posted by: SKOB 13th January 2011, 08:05 PM

Wow Points for my track

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 08:07 PM

Shakilover's previous entries haven't been great successes coming 3rd bottom and dead last, he'll be hoping that French songstress Mylene Farmer will get a decent result finally. His votes wildly contrast the previous two sets as all bar 4 tracks now have points. Paris Angels stay at the top but a 3 for Glasser closes the gap.

Posted by: Mart!n 13th January 2011, 08:08 PM

Ooh points for my track already, nice.

yeah i was looking at my votes before submitting and thinking "why have i put this grouplove song above these" and changing it about, then listening to it again and realising it's a great track and moving it back up.

Posted by: Nick F1 13th January 2011, 08:10 PM

Already 2x points, i'm surprised!

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 08:11 PM

Tony's had remarkably consistant results so far with finishes in 10th, 11th and 12th. Sissel has yet to pick up a point but he's started slowly before, most notably with Kent which went on to finish 10th. 2 points for Paris Angels mean it stays at the top by a point, it's tight at the top however as Tony's 20 pointer Magenta Skycode are 5 points behind in 7th. An 8 for Not Squares sees just three songs left to score.

Posted by: Hitstastic 13th January 2011, 08:12 PM

This is why I left it so late to vote. On first listen, very few songs made an instant impression. By giving myself enough time to listen to all the songs, I was able to judge them better. My tastes are commercial enough as it is, so I wouldn't be surprised if my entry didn't do well as it's not really "indie".

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 08:14 PM

Ghosthunter is up next with Anika Moa which has had a good start. Paris Angels drop out of the top 3 replaced by Glasser, Fenech-Soler and 20 pointer Iamamiwhoami. 15 and 12 for Krause and Eve and the Heartmaker see them both rise into the top 10, whilst the bottom three cut further adrift as everything else now has at least 7 points.

Posted by: Chris. 13th January 2011, 08:16 PM

I wouldnt be surprised if Iamamiwhoami won.

Posted by: Mart!n 13th January 2011, 08:18 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if Grouplove will finish higher, slow burners tend to finish higher.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 08:18 PM

Freeze is up next with Frost (I see what you've done there!). Points for Glasser and Fenech-Soler see them stay in the top two whilst Anathema joins them following 12 points. Awolnation's first points come in the form of a top vote pushing it into the top half. A second consecutive 15 for Krause see them jump to 6th, each to their own....

I could've chosen the next set of votes to be one which put them in the lead. But I didn't want to do that.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 08:23 PM

Ever present Pavel up next, looking for a first top 10 finish with Young Galaxy. A second 20 in a row sees Awolnation in the top 5. Glasser remain at the top extending their lead by 2, decent points for Iamamiwhoami and Fenech-Soler see them in the top 3. All songs now have points as Sissel picks up 12 and Grouplove get 3 leaving them at the bottom.

Only if Krause win will I be worried (as I posted in the other thread, the first 15 seconds are excellent - it's just the remaining 2+ minutes that are horrendous). sad.gif

I just don't understand at all how anyone could enjoy it, let alone consider it music.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 08:27 PM

Hits is up next, his results have got better each time peaking with #11 last time out, another entrant who'll be looking for their first top 10 and has made a decent start in mid-table. A 15 for Fenech-Soler sees the lead change hands and top marks for Strange Talk see Dandy's entry on the cusp of the top 3. A top 3 for Grouplove puts it into the top 20 leaving The Creepshow and Immortal Technique as the only songs not to reach double figures.

Because the people taking part who are more likely to enjoy it haven't had their votes counted yet.

I thought Sissel had a lovely voice - or the singer did if it's the name of a band. I just found the song itself a little soporific.

Probably because it's not an instant song. It was the biggest grower for me - if I'd voted based on listening to each song once, Grouplove would've been taken out of consideration right away.

When I noticed the song was on a chill-out compilation, I was expecting something along the lines on Chicane. I was wrong, and therefore slightly disappointed.

West is up next, someone else whose results have got worse so far. Finishing 2nd last last time means it's unlikely to get worse again though, especially as his entry has already picked up 40 points and is safe in the top 10. A 15 for Strange Talk see it level at the top with Fenech-Soler as Glasser drop to third. After a good start Paris Angels are now hanging on to a top half spot, whilst top 3 points for both Colder and Grouplove see them move towards the top 10.

Posted by: West 13th January 2011, 08:35 PM

I'm glad to see I won't be 2nd last this time!

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 08:38 PM

Second time entrant Zechhh will be hoping for another finish as good as the 9th he got last time, which is the position his votes push his entry, Anathema, down to. Another top 3 for Grouplove puts it up to 4th (what ever was I worried about?!), as Fenech-Soler retakes the lead. Top marks for Immortal Technique pushes the Peruvian/US rapper into the top half, whilst 10 for El Guincho lifts it 4 places off the bottom leaving Ultramariini there, a song which has only picked up one set of votes, in the second set from Dandy.

Suedehead's entry started well and was leading for a few votes but has now almost dropped out of the top 20. A 15 for Strange Talk puts it back into the lead as Grouplove climb into the top 3, Magenta Skycode top 5 and Not Squares top 10. Votes for all of the bottom four songs mean it's now a lot closer at the bottom, although Ultramariini still prop up the rest.

Grebo has the vote at the midpoint of the competition, and nothing for either of the top 2 means there's a lot of closing from Grouplove, Iamamiwhoami and Glasser. Paris Angels are back towards the top half and The Creepshow are at their higest position yet.

Nothing like a bit of early nineties, pre-Suede, indie. The only time I saw them they were supported by a band called Laverne and Shirley who were one of the worst bands I've ever seen. Their "drum kit" consisted of an upturned biscuit tin which fell off the stand part way through. I kid you not.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 08:55 PM

Tom Kay next, looking to follow up and impressive top 10 debut last time out with Frida. Not a bad start as Eva is just a couple of places off the top 10. A 15 for Strange Talk sees it extend its lead to 16 points and it's now just one off being the first song to reach 100 points. Fenech-Soler is back in the top 3, Paris Angels into the top 10 and 20 points for Ultramariini lift it from the bottom into the top 20, leaving Autre Ne Veut in last.

First time competitor Titty is next, and points to 9 of the top 10 see them pull away from the rest. Strange Talk's lead increases slightly over Grouplove and Fenech-Soler, Magenta Skycode move into the top 5 and Paris Angels are moving back towards where they started. 12 for Gallops move it from second bottom to within a point of the top 20.

I don't think they did, thankfully.

Thomsen is up next, following up a 3rd place last time well, as Magenta Skycode currently sits in 5th. Strange Talk are a full vote ahead of second now as Grouplove climb back above Fenech-Soler and it becomes the second song to hit the 100 point barrier. A 20 for Young Galaxy sees it climb into the top 5 and El Guincho gets a much needed lift at the bottom.

Posted by: Thomsen 13th January 2011, 09:11 PM

I Love Tony. He always seems to like my entries! smile.gif

Cover Your Tracks is amazing and should be top 3 at least.

SKOB up next, whose Ultramariini has recovered from a slow start with a couple of high pointers. 15 for Grouplove sees the lead halved, whilst Fenech-Soler and Young Galaxy pass 100 points, with the latter really starting to close in on the top 3. Another set of votes giving points to a lot of the top 10, the songs towards the top 5 continue to pull away.

With only one of the top 7 recieving any points, that song can benefit rather a lot and Grouplove do by climbing to above Strange Talk to the top (Hurrah! biggrin.gif), 15 from Colder sees it move into the top 10, and full marks see Krause back into the top half. 10 for Swing Kids see Ultra Ne Veut rooted to the bottom.

Chris has finished in a slightly lower position every time so far, and Gallops look like they might continue that run down as they fall to 24th . Grouplove's lead is extended to 10 points and Young Galaxy take Fenech-Soler's position in the top 3. Awolnation are back in the top 10 and Immortal Technique climbs back to just outside the top half.

Gallops was my #13. I did like it, but I thought it could've been a little shorter.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 09:33 PM

Mikey next, who with a pair of 4th placed finishes and a victory has by far the best record in Unknown Pleasures so far, but that run looks like it's about to end, with only one song lying below Chromatics. 7 points for Grouplove see the lead extended to 15 whilst Iamamiwhoami becomes the 5th song to reach 100. The top two are starting to look uncatchable.

Posted by: Illuminato 13th January 2011, 09:34 PM

I noticed that so far Grouplove made it to all the commentaries. Even when nobody gave it anything heehee.gif

(and sort of hoping so too wub.gif )

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 09:39 PM

But not for long, as Ryan gives top marks to Pavel's song bringing it back into potenatial contention. Points given to the songs immediately behind Ryan's own entry see its grip on a top 5 spot diminished, and El Guincho climb into the top 20.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 09:42 PM

Ben had two top 5 finishes but only managed 18th last time out. Glasser are definitely on course to improve that and are within a few points of the top 5. Strange Talk close on Grouplove and Young Galaxy are now also in contention. With just three votes remaining the winner is surely going to come from that trio? Big points to the bottom two tracks see Chromatics climb into 20th and Autre Ne Veut have a chance of not finishing bottom.

Posted by: Mart!n 13th January 2011, 09:43 PM

LOL I'm making a late surge laugh.gif

Posted by: Hitstastic 13th January 2011, 09:43 PM

The top 5 at the moment is really strong - any of them will make a worthy winner imo.

Posted by: Chris. 13th January 2011, 09:44 PM

looks like i'm definatly going to be ending below Krause. The tiny but of hope I had left in humanity is now gone.

Posted by: Illuminato 13th January 2011, 09:44 PM

OMFG. This is intense.

Posted by: Brett-Butler 13th January 2011, 09:45 PM

Back in the top 10. Here's hoping that I can snatch 9th place in the last 3 votes.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 09:45 PM

Nick now, he came last time and at least he's improved this time if nothing else! Nothing for Grouplove sees the gap close to just three points, Young Galaxy still in contention but with obviously less of a chance now. The rest of the top 10 are very close now with Not Squares and Colder cementing their places in the top 10.

Posted by: Illuminato 13th January 2011, 09:46 PM

NEVER LIKED THAT NICKF1 GUY.

Posted by: SKOB 13th January 2011, 09:47 PM

Posted by: Mart!n 13th January 2011, 09:47 PM

Posted by: Brett-Butler 13th January 2011, 09:48 PM

2 top marks now! Thank you Nick F1, glad you enjoyed Release the Bees.

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 09:49 PM

Two votes left, I'll reveal both at the same time....

Posted by: Illuminato 13th January 2011, 09:51 PM

OMG you know how to torture sad.gif

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 09:55 PM

So, Tyron and Harve, I accepted them both.... Harve follows up a win with a pretty much dead cert last, whilst Tyron has a chance to return to the top 5.

A 4 for Young Galaxy and a 5 for Strange Talk put Strange Talk into the lead but Grouplove can still get potentially two votes. A combined 8 for Krause see them climb five places, and Swing Kids get closer to moving out of the bottom 3.

Posted by: Illuminato 13th January 2011, 09:58 PM

15 or 20 from Tyron is needed. Not going to pull this one off sad.gif

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 10:01 PM

None of the top 3 songs get 7-10, a combined 18 puts Glasser into a strong 4th place. Gallops get another 7 to climb up a bit further from the bottom (it should have two more points, I input it wrongly...) and both Aeroplane and El Guincho climb into the top half.

Posted by: Dandy* 13th January 2011, 10:01 PM

So the winner is either mine, the one that's actually my favourite or the one I predicted would win! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Mart!n 13th January 2011, 10:05 PM

I can't believe Krause is going to finish ahead of me sleep.gif

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 13th January 2011, 10:06 PM

15 for Grouplove means only top marks from Tyron can give Strange Talk a win, as it now becomes a two horse race. A 15 for Not Squares from Tyron see Brett's entry climb from 9th to 6th, and El Guincho gets another 12 to complete its ascent to a comfortable top half finish.

Posted by: Chris. 18th January 2011, 06:45 PM

Posted by: grebo69 18th January 2011, 07:47 PM

End of Feb sounds right to me. It seems to be a 6 week gap between the end of one and beginning of the next is roughly usual.

I have a reserve of 4 tracks at the moment but none of them are as good as my last one which ended up in the bottom 5 (below Kraus mad.gif )

Posted by: RabbitFurCoat 19th January 2011, 12:01 AM

The results have been every 2 months so far, with them being in the teens of July, September, November and January. Beginning of March with a 10-14 day voting period would continue the pattern nicelyl.
