Really strong bunch of songs here, there was really only one song in the whole list that I didn't like to some extent (I won't name and shame but if you were on SyncTube you may know x). Commiserations to Neon Indian, Color Theory/The New Division, Artemas, Sevdaliza/Sleepnet and Bozart/Jennifer Cardini which all deserved points too.

Glad I did the second listenthrough as James Shinra was only on 10 points for me on first listen!

Me being rebranded as Bruh

Used this contest as an opportunity to finally listen to some songs from Parannoul (who I'd been aware of for a while due to being highly rated by Fantano / RateYourMusic and thought they looked interesting based on genre tags alone) and this was my fave of the ones I checked out, yay for it doing quite well so far thanks Savan for the 20 <3 + AllStar, Oliver, dhwe and Whoddy for the other points so far.

(and RFC providing a second 20 while I was typing this up! hoping to see DEADLETTER pick up a bit, although this song did remind me a bit of my own flop UP entry from The Lounge Society, still I'm pretty easily pleased by anything from the current UK post-punk scene, I liked 'Binge' by them as well)

The jazz song was not far outside my commiserations btw x

Oh 'Sink Or Swim' is far better than 'Heat Waves', don't sell yourself short! (definitely felt like it deserved points from me but fell slightly short).

Definitely not going to complain if we end up with a James Shinra win genuinely shocked at how well Cheekface are still doing, although I do have it stuck in my head now so I suppose there must be something to it.

Ooh thank you Rollo for another 20! And very close to a 20 swap (would have been one if I'd sent in my first draft of my votes, the James Shinra song was more of a grower but Limousine was my immediate biggest standout, wish I could have given top marks to both of them though - instrumentals killing it here).

Great entry from Severin too, another band I shall definitely need to check out more from.

Congrats to Kath! Turns out the inbox order made the results a lot more interesting math-wise since a lot of the early votes ended up going to jellyskin or James Shinra, but some of the songs lower down managed to catch up by the end! Michael and Wardy managed to do well with their backups (or in Wardy's case his original entry) but John on the other hand was not so lucky.

I'm pretty sure I broke ties correctly, I didn't know which way UP uses but they were in the right order both ways anyway so I didn't have to do much except state the stats

and I don't even know if we still did negative points

Going from winning all the way down to almost bottom 10

Definitely didn't deserve to flop that hard </3 Idk if anyone's keeping track of stats for this but I think this might be my worst performing Unknown Pleasures entry? Nearly 60% of my votes came from three people though, which I thought was interesting

Bronze impakt *.* iirc I came 3rd in the last PFSC too so doing quite well of late in the genre contests.

I see my prediction for the winner came through in the end too so #psychicbra - well done Kath, a very strong winner, wish I could have given it more points than I did but at least it did make it into my votes! And ofc wonderful to see my 20 in 2nd place (I screwed myself out of 2nd place by relistening before voting ddd but no regrets tbh - I think if I had come 2nd it'd be my third time while still awaiting a debut win so I'm kinda happier with 3rd if anything). Cheekface and Otyken both in the top 5 as well is kind of iconic, novelty(ish) entries stay winning apparently x

A few more of my big faves in the lower half of the top 10 too, shame Limousine dropped off a bit but still a decent result for them, and great for Mandy, Indiana and The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die! + ooh yay for Converter picking up quite a lot at the end even if not quite enough for top 10. The whole of the 11-15 section is fab too, especially amazed to see Meitei so high, quite a few surprising results here overall!

Samaris and This Ascension deserved better, especially the latter, kind of mystified at that being bottom 5 </3

Thank you Cody for presenting the results! Glad to see Kath winning with a banger It's lovely to see Cheekyface in the top 5. I was very surprised Domination (Lm) was released back in the mid-2000s when it sounded like the experimental or dark techno stuff I come across from time to time. It was a great find! Shame it fell just short of top 10. Peach Fuzz is another great find and one I think I would have now given 20 points to.

I was totally prepared to see blakey jazz flop so badly here It was absolute bonkers and I expect it is just too experimental and inaccessible for the Buzzjack crowd but I really like the improvisation and the overall product is one of the most artistic pieces I've ever heard. I think there is no better place than Unknown Pleasures to send these kind of entries and it's great to see it does not finish with 0 points.

This was an above-average contest for me! Glad to have voted for the winner which feels unlike me, let alone both of the top 2. Congrats Kath!! Yours was a standout for sure *.* and I can certainly be hyped for a Kath-hosted UP if it happens. A bit of a bummer for Leww after his was leading most of the way, but still a good result for him too

Happy that two of my top three made the top 20. Arkells is a band I've known for years but don't often listen to and wouldn't necessarily have recognized them, but I absolutely loved the song. And I still can't believe 'Space Commander' did that well!

Nothing against my own entry, but my expectations were low so I'll gladly take the top end of the bottom 10. I'm in great company with Goth Babe and Polly Money but really disappointed that both weren't a lot higher. (FYI 'Running Around' was the Goth Babe song I almost sent here last year)

I was all ready to flop, ANKOR are a really cool band with a good harsh vocalist - the first build-up to the drop on 'Oblivion' has me captivated every time - but I wasn't expecting loads of points so thank you to so many for sending me into the top 10, that's a nice success

Very good winner, well done Kath, one of my top picks beyond my usual bullshit, OTYKEN do their schtick incredibly well, I've yet to hear a song of theirs that I dislike and Cheekface was a really really unique song, great to see that also top 5. I was really surprised to see Ave Mujica in here actually, but great little niche pick from AllStar that I thought was so cool when I came across them, actual anime metal band and they didn't even flop that hard!

A little bit shocked when seeing my entry led the results after that early +20. Quite satisfied with my 16th place, though a 2 point separate me from getting top 15 was a little bit painful.

MLTR has a huge fanbase around the Asia, so that's why I knew some of their songs. Glad some of you enjoyed Space Commander. I'll probably send their best song at BJSC next year.

Sorry, had quite a busy evening last night so missed this.

Fantastic winner, congrats to Kath! I did think it sounded like a likely one. I voted for or at least enjoyed most of that top 10, great to see Limousine in the top 10 as that was a real experience, and Cheekface and OTYKEN were wonderfully bizarre even if they didn't quite make my votes.

I was surprised to see so many on the listenthrough already knew Lankum, I found it on r/listentothis under the label 'Irish Doom Folk' and couldn't really ignore it. I expected it to be divisive, but very pleased for those few that did enjoy the intensity, especially Leww and Rich <3 I'll certainly take being middle of the pack for that. I'd recommend The New York Trader by them as well, it's a different vibe musically (and has a new lead singer for one), but has that same dramatic storytelling and rising intensity throughout (and some cool Irish music at the end too x).

I knew of Lankum primarily because they were previously sent to one of the BJSC Halloween spinoffs, but also worth noting they are relatively mainstream by the standards of Unknown Pleasures artists, their album charted at #47 earlier this year!

(also really liked 'The New York Trader' too)

Sevdaliza flopped OMG lol I'm glad I never sent it to BJSC because probably it would have been DOA!!! (I still love the remix especially last minute, it is bonkers)
