Yay, it's actually happening!
Can't wait!
Preparing to be bottom 5

Morgan, Coque Malla • I'm Gone • Uhsting
Welcome to the contest Uhsting! Alas your first entry is one that came at the bottom of the pile but someone always has to - hope you still enjoyed taking part, it was certainly good to see some fresh names entering this time around. I can't help but notice that the song was also last in the running order, too much of a coincidence?
Received:
Bronze from Jacob.
That matched the plug reception this week then!
(The iconic combo of 0 woots, 4 mehs and 4 grabs!)
Well... yay for avoiding last place at least that isn't a surprising wooden spoon for me at all due to plug oops
Expecting to be right at the bottom, but yay for these happening!
THIRTY EIGHT • 24 points
Nick Hakim • Vincent Tyler • DalekTurret32
Next up it's Dalek's track falling out of the running. I quite enjoyed this one, jazzy influences are rare on Buzzjack so I appreciated the inclusion and I loved the way it broke down into the string section at the end
Received:
Silver from Blacksquare
Aw that song got a few points from me! Lovely entry Dalek <3
Expecting to come faiiirly near the bottom as well :')
THIRTY SEVEN • 34 points
ViVii • Siv (You and I) • JJAAKKEE
Here's our first non voter as Jake falls out in 37th, although the 20 points wouldn't have propelled the track anywhere significantly different in the end. Arguably this one didn't have quite the same impact as some of Jake's essential entries from past contests but I thought it was a nice enough track - something I think happens in UP is that the scoring being limited to 12 tracks in a contest of this size really pushes out tracks that don't stand out as much from the crowd.
Received:
Bronze from Blacksquare
There goes the first one I gave points to, Siv was decent.
Some good entries going out! Already surprised I'm not bottom 3
That one got one point from me.
Results for this, hurrah!
Nothing I remember just yet so I suppose that's good (I'm not sure I saved my votes for this oops).
THIRTY SIX • 38 points
BIN-JIP • Heavy • Mattias
Next to fall is Mattias, often a heavyweight in these contests but couldn't quite hit the mark this time around. Again I thought this was a nice enough entry that likely struggled to stand out sufficiently among the unusually high number of entrants...
Received:
No medals, highest was a 10 from Travis
Unsurprisingly I gave Mattias anonymous points as ever albeit not quite as many as usual.
Shook that I'm still in tbh
THIRTY FIVE • 39 points
Kardajala Kirridarra • Ngurra (Rain Song) • Rush
The beginning of this track always reminds me of Count Duckula. Not sure if anyone else will be able to remember that, was it a thing in your eras? Anyhow, Rush falls next as his entry didn't quite connect enough with the voters - a shame for me as in retrospect it's one of the more unique entries of the round and I always like to see them do well.
Received:
Bronze from WhoOdyssey
THIRTY FOUR • 40 points
The Dř • A Mess Like This • Leonardo
Now The Dř were one of the bands I was already familiar with, they've been the subject of a few Trentemřller remixes in their time so I've always kept half an eye on them. This one was okay for me, maybe not up to the standards of some of their other work but it did manage to find a few fans.
Received:
Silver from Iz
Ngurra got two points from me.
I’m not bottom 5 hallelujah
Still thinking I’m gonna end up on the floppy side but that’s one hurdle down
I believe I gave points to Rain Song (at least by my saved rankings), that was quite a lovely song from what I recall.
awwwww i liked the do (for the same reasons u do dandy!)
I gave four points to The Dř, the highest of my votes that have gone out so far.
I gave The Do 5 points, also my highest so far.
Ooh yay these are happening!
'I'm Gone' coming last is entirely unsurprising, will at least always remember it for the iconic 4 mehs and 4 grabs result on the second plug.dj session *.* oops at uhsting coming last with his first entry in one of these, hopefully better results to come ;o
Already lost 2 of my votes though oops! 'Vincent Tyler' was my 3 pointer, a really lovely song, deserved way better than that! And I gave 6 to 'Ngurra (Rain Song)', very much my kind of thing *.* but not too surprising to see that going out early. Also makes sense the Aboriginal Australian song would turn out to be Rush. x
Bin-Jip wasn't too high up my rankings initially but it did sound a fair bit better with the refreshed listening session.
THIRTY THREE • 41 points
The Lemon Twigs • Small Victories • WhoOdyssey
Well you did successfully avoid bottom 5 but alas your predictions about being out near the bottom have come true mr odyssey I didn't personally like this one enough to vote for it but I did enjoy someone sending a more typically indie sounding track as sometimes they feel like they're more absent than they once were. By the way I haven't broken ties as yet so you could actually end up 32nd but I'm not sure anyone will quibble!
Received:
Bronze from SevenSeize
WhoOdyssey will be discovering with the rest of us what his song was!
I ranked that one last on my original listenthrough oops but to be fair I'd probably move it up a few spaces now.
It's even better live!
THIRTY TWO • 41 points
Alex the Astronaut • Waste Of Time • Dexton
This is the first one I'm shocked to see out. When Dexton submitted it I expected it to do rather well but I guess indie females with a guitar can be a little bit too Lucy Spraggan for this section of the forum? Anyway, thirty second (or third) it is for this... does anyone know the tiebreak rules btw? Is it highest score or most voters?
Received:

So we're ousting three next as they all ended up with 43 points. Firstly both of the ones with long titles go at once, followed swiftly by Dan's scandi noir drama track (not sure how many it's featured in now but it's definitely at least 2!)
Two of those three received points from me!
I voted for all three of those. Sad to see them go.
I don't think UP has a specific rule on tiebreaks, the time I hosted the results I just used most votes to break the ties because of that being the tiebreak for BJSC finals. x
WTF at Sol Seppy being Dan??? I guess I can kind of see it fitting into the more classical / piano side of his music taste but still, I'd never have called that one.
A Sunny Day In Glasgow and Paul Thomas Saunders were both ones I didn't vote for but sounded better during the second listen.
I can reveal I gave 4 points to the Lunar's guide, 3 points to Siv, and 1 to The Lemon Twigs, so that's 30% gone already oops!
Four of my votes have gone now, but all of my top seven are still in!
TWENTY EIGHT • 44 points
androp • Memento More with Aimer • Iz
Next up is Iz with a song that I'm sure most of us could guess was likely to be from him. I quite liked this one, slightly prog rock esque and really beautiful in places where the vocals intertwined... before it all exploded towards the end, definitely the type of track that UP does such a fab job of showcasing - plus he managed to beat Jacob by 1 point!
Received:
Silver from WhoOdyssey and King Rollo!
I'm not out yet. Woo!
I actually thought that one would be more likely Brett than Iz! But of course it's not surprising that it is Iz either.
That's the song I'm most regretting not voting for, would probably actually give it a pretty decent chunk of points if I was voting after my second listenthrough. I actually thought the opening part was the best part of it though with the kind of post-rock-ish sound to it.
TWENTY SEVEN • 45 points
Cibo Matto feat. Reggie Watts • MFN • Jade
The filthy tongued track is out next and that filth came from our very own Jade! It took me a very long time to realise that the track didn't actually feature Reggie Yates whom I did admittedly think was an odd choice of featured vocalist.
Received:
GOLD from Travis
I haven't actually played my entry for a good few months now, it was on some Netflix show I was watching and I quite liked it and didn't have much else to send.
Forgot the rest of these too oops, will have to give a replay to the ones I gave top points to.
Lmao how have I still not been announced yet
TWENTY SIX • 49 points
The Holy • Ramses the Evil Brother • King Rollo
This one's a bit of a shocker, received a full house in the plug session so I'm assuming it must have grown on you all post contest? To be fair, it has on me and I'm guilty of not giving it any points too. Either way, I think this is way too low for Rollo's entry and we shall all hang our heads in collective shame...
Received:
Bronze from Brett-Butler
Didn't think The Holy would be Rollo's entry as it's under 10 minutes long, but I rather enjoyed it. Has "Pelican" vibes to it.
Jade getting the lowest song that was someone's favourite :cheeseblock: This is another Jade anonymous contest entry I didn't vote for oops didn't particularly like the vocals on it but it did have a good instrumental. x
The Holy was my 1 pointer, the better of the two Holy bands for me. Am a little surprised at it being that low!
I liked that one from The Holy, it got seven points from me - not as much as the other Holy band though, glad that's still to come!
TWENTY FIVE • 54 points
Mahaut Mondino • The Great Elements • dandy*
Ahhhh so it's time for my entry to drop out next... and I'm not too fussed really! It was actually my third choice entry, my first one was a duplicate entry, my second one was an attempt to enter a fabulous track from Glass Candy which was the track preventing the contest from starting while the mods debated it - so I quickly switched to a random thing I'd found years ago that I thought may stand out... and it sort of did, just not in a way that many people approved of!!! Intriguingly the youtube video used to have LOADS of abusive comments which I'm guessing is why Mahaut disabled them at some point since.
Received:
Silver from Mattias and Cal
Surely as the host you could have just claimed your first choice and asked the other person to change?
well my top 8 have still not been mentioned so this is going rather well from my point of view. Got to be "cue my absolutely brilliant top pointer" up next?
TWENTY FOUR • 64 points
Silver Apples • Oscillations • Popchartfreak
Well PCF, at least it's not your absolutely brilliant top pointer out next! It's not a bad showing for this actually, considering tracks as old as this tend to flop miserably on BJ contests I'd say you can count this as a comparative success!
Received:
GOLD from SevenSeize
Silver from DalekTurret32
Really liked 'Oscillations' (my 4 pointer) and that is a respectable finish for a 60s track (although one that sounds a bit ahead of its time I'd say)!
I must say I quite like this way of giving the results, as it gives me a chance to revisit all the tracks one-by-one, which is something we don't get in the usual results reveal.
I think 64 points for a 50-year-old obscurity is pretty good so thanks all, esp Seven for the 20 points!
I thought my entry might do a bit better than that based on the Plug stats. Never mind. I'll try again next time.
Also Iz's song should have more points.
TWENTY THREE • 70 points
Holy Holy • Faces • West
So neither of the Holy acts could quite manage the top 20, still it was a welcome back to the contest to West who I was delighted to see entering again. Not a bad indie track this one to be fair and one I should have given more points too, sounds like it could actually be a hit to me.
Received:
GOLD from Brett-Butler

27th is better than I was expecting for such a weird and in-your-face entry fully embracing my experimental flop anonymous contest phase atm x Glad I found a big fan in travis though! Thanks for the gold medal
Really loved "Faces", actually surprised it's so low, though it would be a real contender to win this.

So we a lose a couple of the more 80s inspired tracks in one fell swoop here and, in the process, you've made the top 20 if you haven't yet been announced! I found joy in both of these ones, the flute/panpipe noises in Brett's and the indie synth joys from Lindsey. The latter is unfortunate to miss the top 20 as the points deduction for not voting just pushed it outside, sorry Lindsey!
And that's your lot for this evening folks, back tomorrow for the top 20! Feel free to speculate in the meantime... *.*
Holy Holy! I already knew of the band before the contest from a similarly decent song called 'You Cannot Call For Love Like A Dog' but hadn't heard this song before, quite liked it and glad it did alright!
Me and my top 6 (plus two of my other votes) all making the top 20, hooray!
Thanks dandy! Enjoyed this, apart from the last reveal as my silver medal drops out, and a personal chart top 20 track as a result - at least it had a moral top 20 position if not an actual
Four of my top five - and my own entry - finishing in the top twenty! Not bad at all!
Caught up with this, wow, talk about a flop :') But thanks Travis for the 10 and you, Jade, for pointing it too! I actually thought 'Heavy' was a fairly standout entry, at least in that it didn't really sound like any of the others and I thought it would be a good thing, shows what I know! It's totally MY JAM tho.
I found 'The Great Elements' (the host's entry) really brilliant - what even with all the mehs + abusive Youtube comments as I've just found out Still think my 20-pointer has got this. Will you give me something pretty if that turns out to be the case, dandy*?
I got into the top 20 what???
Also really enjoying this way of revealing and revisiting, plus it's probably not as much work hosting as the scoreboards and many countdowns and adding ups! (tho still quite a bit.) I might take it on if I was ever to do one
In other words I must say I really liked the host's entry on revisiting, v cool
lol @ me correctly guessing Dexton’s and Iz’s entries
so far have only lost my 3 pointer and 2 pointer, I’m guessing the other votes really stuck out Also somehow top 20! Woo!
So far I guessed Iz's entry (no surprise there rly) and also Seven's - but the latter I kept quiet on plug for some stupid reason.
Ooh Ramses the Evil Brother was actually one of my big pointers, definitely remember really loving the build up on that, sad to see it out. I also pointed Jade's entry, it's weird but I've somehow had it in my head for quite a while now!
And top 20 for myself is nice to see~
woohoo Top 20 it seems like a thing to be celebrating in this
Also my medal points have yet to come so I am happy for that too (which let's be real I don't even know what are my top points )
I've just relistened to my entry for the first time in a while and it's pretty excellent isn't it? Very glad it found some fans and wasn't in a completely horrible position. And not everyone immediately guessed me, I do want to become sneakier.
Shame to see The Do and Ngurra so low, the former band are normally excellent, and Ngurra stood out to me as having a fairly interesting worldy song. Think I remember Halfnoise being very good too without looking at my votes.
Ooh I'm still in! Two of my big faves in Faces and Gymnasium out but still a few others I like to come!

Two more out as we have a tie for 18th place. First up is the Yeah Yeah Yeahs-esque Oh No as submitted by Harry, one that didn't do quite as well as I thought it would when he first sent it through. M˙rtle also bows out here too with the lovely Dragons, a song I was rather fond of (my 8 if I remember correctly) and it's been bugging me who the vocalist sounds like - I keep going back to Delores from the Cranberries but I'm not sure it is her - help me!

Another tie next as both lewis and nocheluna go out here. KITTY was very on brand for this contest and deserved to do well for that alone, alas their killer eyes could only slay about 60% of the competition. Also out are San Junipero, an act that appear to have done far better than their sender was expecting given the shock at not being out way before this - with three silver placings it clearly was popular among some of our more dance pop leaning entrants. Slight spoiler here but the scores are all so low this time around - we don't actually break 100 points until we, handily, reach the top 10.
Aww @ San Junipero being the lowest of my medal positions </3

Au Palais are next out in a rare occurrence of Lewwww missing a top 10 spot in anything! Just listening to this one again and I always feel like I'm going to love it and then it just doesn't quite go where I'm hoping it will - still decent but not quite up there with his own high standard of entries. Although looking at the gold medal position, I'm guessing Mr Rollo would disagree!

Federica Abbate • Fiori sui balconi • Travis
Always nice to see a foreign language song succeed in a contest and I think this counts as one of them as it makes it comfortably into the top half for Travis. My understanding from the translation is that the lyrics say "And I'll stay out tonight like flowers on the balconies" which is actually a rather lovely metaphor.

Wow, me and my top 5 (!) in the top 13!
I guessed correctly that Lewis sent 'Stargazer'! Surprised but very glad it's done so well.
eeee really pleased with 15th! I absolutely agree with you dandy*. it is one that I hoped would go into a huge euphoric breakdown - I think it's just a bit too amateur / lo-fi to be produced how they intended it. i'd originally confirmed it for BJSC 59 as like a 4th place backup in case i'd got vetoed with my first 3 so i'm glad it got sent somewhere in the end! thank you rollo for the gold

Next up is a rather fun little pop entry. Without wishing to sound harsh, I really didn't want to like this one when I first heard it but the swinging clicks kind of suck you in and I ended up, well not actually giving it any points but considered it Well you didn't need them anyway Addy as you got a gold from Riser and DalekTurret! *.*

Black Atlass • Shadows • Riser
Next up is quite a nice little track entered by Riser, the simplicity of this one really made it stand out for me among the mix. Two things put me off it slightly, occasionally he veers a little too far towards Ronan Keating vocal territory and also the ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo bits always make me want to sing for the longest time after it which annoys me because I don't know what song that is! Anyway, well done to Riser as this was top track for two participants.

Nora Medin • Spell • Cal
And alas just missing out on a top 10 position is Cal. Always reliable in the taste stakes (which basically translates to being similar to mine! ) he once again delivers with a slow burning electro ballad noir. Only one medal placing for this (GOLD tho') but it received a fair few middle sets of points to rise it up through the field.

Gosh, 12th has to be my highest finish in a couple years here, that's awesome! I discovered 'Shadows' from a radio station in Zambia of all places, glad to see it connected with others as much as it did with me
Huff + Puff was the only other song I remember from this contest so I'm pretty sure I've forgotten the entire top 10
So that's it for tonight... your winner is one of the following 10 remaining tracks:
01.01 • Cari Cari • Mapache
01.02 • Estrons • Lilac
01.05 • LOVE SICK • Fever
01.11 • Otha • One of the Girls

Who will win? Find out tomorrow! *.*
I had low expectations for 'Spell' so 11th is great, thanks all!

Omg top 10! shook
Yesss at LSDream smashing too
well I'm glad three of my top 5 are still in it Thanks to everyone for top 10!
Great showing for coi too considering this is his first rodeo!
I think my 20 is going to win.
WONDERFUL 11 + 12! rly liked 13 as well
Three of my faves still in the Top 10, I'm happy with 20 as well!
Thank you Blacksquare for giving Vincent Tyler a silver, as well as everyone that voted for this song.
Oscillations is a song that sounded ahead of its time.
And thank you Unknown Pleasures for leading me to discover the excellence that is Huff And Puff.
Sorry I completely forgot about following this due to the BJSC plug session, good thing it's not finished yet (and I'm still in it, which means I have avoided coming 11th three times in a row, hooray)!
Another handful of songs in the last few which I didn't vote for but they sounded better than I remember them sounding on the second listen - I think AU PALAIS is definitely one that promises more than it actuall delivers but it still sounds pretty good. Actually a little surprised Federica wasn't a winner contender, reminded me a bit of Elliphant's 'Down On Life', still a decent result for Travis though! And Nora Medin is another one that just missed out on my votes and might have scraped in if I did them today. The only other one of my votes I've lost now is 'Huff + Puff' which was a really fun song, got 5 points from me, a great choice Addy!
5 of my top 6 including all of my top 3 (plus one more of my votes) still in this along with me, yay! I did like the other three remaining songs too so a really strong top 10 overall. Really pleased to see 65daysofstatic doing this well despite making a fairly limited impact on plug
Great to see Black Atlass do well, one of the great tracks of last year for me (thanks Jordan! I've been so wondering who sent it in, and I shouldn't be at all surprised considering how often I rate your choices! ) - you must have been dying to tell me when it topped my personal charts )
Thanks dandy for the teasing 10, I've still got 3 in the top which made my personal charts, including one I accidentally put in my year-end BJSC rundown so oops cats out the bag on that one (now removed from it!), so fingers-crossed they do well

So it's RFC who falls out first within the top 10 but this is still yet another very good result for him after picking up a couple of sets of max points along the way. Definitely one of the better tracks entered this time around, it's great to see something with louder guitars at the fore and a slightly more punk(ish) (very ish) vibe doing so well in this. I've been meaning to check more of the band's stuff out but haven't quite got around to it as yet, if you do read this let us know where to go next...

A couple more fall out next as we had a tie for 8th place. Unmake the Wild Light got a couple of max points as the epic instrumental proved to be an effective closing track for the first disc - was this your debut entry also coi or have you had one before? Either way congrats on a top 10 finish! Also, coi has to have the most annoying correction ever, I've just had it change to 'cod', 'coy', 'coo', 'how' and 'cop' in this post alone. Also featuring here is Cody's entry which also grabbed a maximum along the way courtesy of M˙rtle. Not quite a medal position for me but the track was definitely one of the highlights for me with it's somewhat chilled vibes.
So happy with joint 8th for my debut entry! Four medal positions as well!
Thanks so much to everyone who voted for it!
Victoriya was my 7 pointer but it sounded way better on the relisten, would probably give it at least 10 now! Would not have guessed that one was Cody.
65daysofstatic of course my favourite, post-rock instrumentals can pretty much never go wrong a great debut from coi. Estrons only just missed out on getting points from me as well.
LOVED it cody!

Now this one was an absolute beaut. Swirling synths and a feeling of the track just continuing to grow and grow (strangely without ever really doing so) made for such a commanding listen for me, sort of like background music that you simply can't ignore. Apparently Bré chose to send this track because it reminded him of his true love as they hadn't been in touch for a little while, so so so sweet! I have since been in touch with Jon Secada on your behalf Bré and he's so chuffed that he'll only have to wait just another day until he sees you again

I would NEVER have guessed that was Cody what a track tho
Mapache was fab, reminded me of surf guitar music from the early 60's, or The Shadows a little bit, hence I guess, "Mapache".
Great entry Bré, gave it 8 points (and listened to it quite a lot!)
Aw, the three best songs in the top 10 all being in the lower half. I still think my bronze medallist has a decent shot at winning though so fingers crossed for that ~
V happy with 6th place and being in 5 people's medal positions (thank you very much Chez in particular x), I've been listening to 'Lost Again' quite a bit again since revisiting it just before the second plug session, it's a really stunning piece of music with a beautiful National Geographic video to go with it <3 only wish it was a little longer.
I confess that I originally found it because I stumbled across an artist named Jade and dug through his discography to find a good song. Either that or it was Jon Secada. xx
7th is a great result for 'Mapache', a really unique entry indeed (the closest thing I can think to it is my own entry by GOAT) and definitely one of my more memorable UP discoveries!

We start the top 5 with another lovely instrumental track. This time it's dobbo who submitted the oriental themed 'Japan' as he presumably looked to appeal directly to Iz - and you didn't fail as he gave you a bronze! I'm just looking forward to being reminded of my other medalling votes :')
Yeah I sorta-kinda guessed 'Japan' to be Bré's entry.

Hope one of my top 3 wins!

BridgeCow makes a very respectable fourth place with this... firstly I've just got to check that I didn't actually put the wrong version up all along, I've just noticed that the new video for this has vocals and I think I included an instrumental dub version - apologies BridgeCow if I managed to get the wrong version of the track :-/ If I did then let's just pretend it helped you along into the top 5! There's usually at least one dance track that does really well in these things and it's your turn this time around, the obvious appeal to the dance bloc crossed with a sensible decision to stick with a track that veers towards the indie/techno side of dance music pays dividends yet again!
Received:
GOLD from West, DanG and Addy King
Silver from RabbitFurCoat and dobbo
I don't think I remember there being vocals on that song at either of the plug sessions but who knows, I never really listen to vocals in these type of songs! That one was my 2 pointer, so that leaves the top 3 as my bronze medallist and two songs I didn't vote for
Monkey safari was a goodie too. Have I actually got any voted tracks left? Just off to check....
Yay two of my top 3 ended up in the top 3!
Yes I liked the Monkey Safari entry, it got 10 points from me. So, two of the top three I voted for! (One was my bronze and the other was my one pointer)
My 20 is about to win, I can FEEL it.
(or not xo)
THREE • 197 points
LOVE SICK • Fever • Oliver
So we start the top 3 with Oliver and perhaps the most pop track to be entered this time around. This was the only one of the top few that I didn't personally vote for but I did still enjoy it and can see exactly why it's proved to be so successful. I like the darker tones to the track, the way you feel like it's about to go into some really OTT pop chorus but then it breaks down instead to a much darker place - good choice of entry and congratulations on the top 3 finish!
Received:
GOLD from PeteFromLeeds, Cody, uhsting & blacksquare
Silver from HarryEzra, lewistgreen, FrankLuck & M˙rtleSnow
So it's between blacksquare and Chez Wombat for the win! Both finished over a whole maximum ahead of the third track so were clear leaders...
great choice oliver!
Thank you to everyone that voted! Had a feeling it would do well but I completely agree re: the darker baseline in the chorus, it’s one of the reasons why I picked it.
Omg 4th!!!!! *.** yessss
And I genuinely have no idea if the version I sent has vocals or not, but the one I usually listen does, (if it helped me get 4th I’m not complaining tho)
Ooh my 20 is still left *.*
Oh ffs yet another second place coming isn’t it?
Wow, the points totals in this contest are extremely top heavy towards the top 4!
I did like 'Fever' but am glad that it didn't win as it felt a little bit too pop for Unknown Pleasures (it was also comfortably my least favourite of this top 10).
Chez in the top 2 moment of truth for whether the 2nd place curse will continue to be unravelled or just further reinforced. (I'm pretty sure the one I want to win is gonna be blacksquare's oops)
The top 3 is SO GOOD *.* kinda sad that my top pointer ended up being the lowest, great choice though Oliver!

Darn it Dandy you exposed my back up for the next edition
LOL
Well I did not see THAT coming!
2 points to Fever, I liked it. Baby Shark?!!
Gutted it didn't win though

LSDream • OBLIVION • Chez Wombat
Awwwwwww I'm sorry Chez but yep it's another second place for you - the curse continues! Still this is a great result really and is a triumph for bleepy wailing music everywhere. It probably won't help at all to know that this was still a really high score and likely could have won in many of the other UPs over the years but some unknown force decided to enter something even more popular I'm afraid, sorry about that one.

And here we have it, your winner is blacksquare on his very first attempt at entering the contest! Congratulations! And what about that score! To put it into context, that's a full SEVENTY ONE points ahead of second place and almost TRIPLE the points of the track in 10th. And frankly the best song won so it is very deserving and there can be no grumbles about this one. The song itself is an amazing track with outsider lyrics about being accepted and finding your place all set to a deceptively simple beat that soon begins to spiral into synth perfection. The mid section where she drops everything but her vocals and gradually layers them and the synths gives me shivers. You received a medal position from a whopping 14 posters so many congratulations again! *.*.*.* (a triple disco as just one isn't enough)
Received:
GOLD from dandy*, cucumberella, WhoOdyssey, Cal, FrankLuck & Mattias
Silver from DanG, SevenSeize, Jade & PeteFromLeeds
Bronze from Chez Wombat, Cody, Addy King & Bré
And so that's it folks - thanks again to all of you who took part and again for barely even noticing the tiny delay in getting these ready. Hope it didn't spoil your enjoyment of the contest too much and that you're still leaving it with at least a few tracks to arm you through the Winter months. See you next time!
D*
absolutely STUNNING song. not just my favourite song of the contest, but my favourite song of this year so far - I've absolutely hammered it.
please join bjsc blacksquare x
Again, fantastic top 3, congrats blacksquare!
Yesss, my 20 did indeed win *.* What a special track. In fact both of the top 2 are the tracks I thought would win at different points in the contest - I first predicted LSDream all the way back when the contest had just started, but at some point, probably after voting, I changed my winner prediction to Otha (and I thought Lew was behind Otha for some reason - nice to see it be his 20 as well).
omg @ Chez coming 2nd again. I did quite like that entry as well but didn't vote for it I'm afraid. Thanks dandy* for hosting, no worries about the delays! Enjoyed the commentaries and presentations throughout this.
Oh I was actually expecting LSDREAM to win there, WOW at that landslide! Very much deserved of course, a fantastic winner, congrats blacksquare (I also second that you should join BJSC xx) 'OBLIVION' was a fine song and I definitely see why it did so well but it fell short of my votes because I thought that I was enjoying the video more than the song and I was still thinking the same thing on the relisten. A nice addition to Chez's library of silver medals anyway!
Thanks for hosting this Dandy, was a very enjoyable contest and the delay in the results actually led to me listening to the songs more than once so it was a blessing in disguise really!
We must be due another Nuggets any day now then right? (Pretty sure it's Leww's turn to host?)
That's a HUGE lead! It received a point from me as well, big congratulations to blacksquare! A very good choice and if that sort of landslide isn't enough to convince you to join BJSC I don't know what is!
Just exporting the spreadsheet to excel and then I'll upload a version for you to see if you want to see the full scores and votes etc.
Congratulations blacksquare! - but also, this wasn't his first attempt at this, dandy*! I saw his name in the list for Pete's contest
that winning song is superb *.*
My silver coming first and my gold second, what an absolutely tremendous top two congrats blacksquare on such a convincing victory!
Hopefully this will have worked okay but here's a link to the excel document:

You can remind yourself of your votes!!!
Gave the winner 8 points myself and 20 went to LSDream but what a Top 2 *.*
Always the case that I run into a complete monster whenever I finally have that winning chance isn't it? :'( Not that I can begrudge that winner at all, as my votes show, a beautiful song and one I always thought would be a likely winner, congrats blacksquare!
And I can't (although after a billion times, it's becoming a bit harder ) complain at 2nd either, I had a good feeling about this one, I s'pose I got lucky I was in a very dance-heavy UP but great to see so many liked it, I would highly recommend his album VOYAGER to those who enjoyed this, so many wonderful bleeps and bloops *.
Very pleased to see Plastician and particularly Jade Cicada do so well, actually all my top 4 finished in the top 10 which is wonderful. Thanks for getting these out there eventually Dandy!

I already dripfed my entire votes throughout the thread I think but here they are all in one place anyway

1 The Holy - Ramses The Evil Brother
I'd forgotten I'd rated One of the Girls so high to be honest! It is an amazing song though and a worthy winner, I know the video isn't official but I feel like that adds so much to the song as well. Congrats blacksquare!
Delighted with 5th on my debut in this contest! Thanks to all those who voted for Japan.
Great to see my top 3 all finish in the top 6 but a shame I wasn't a fan of the winning song & gave my 20 to 2nd place - at least it wasn't even close in the end.
Congrats to blacksquare!

Ended up with a pretty good winner in the end! Congrats blacksquare! Also commiserations to Chez, surely he’s overdue a win after being the first to lose so many times?
Only ended up voting for four of the top 10 but at least they were the top 4! Thanks for doing this dandy, even though we lost out on the vote reveal the end result turned out nice in the end.
One of the Girls is a great winner, and the only reason it wasn't in my top 3 as it was one of the 3 (I think) songs I already knew so had marked it down. I enjoyed it quite a lot last year but if that was capable of 292 points then who knows how much the follow-up single to it would've got. My favourite track of the last couple of months.
Edit: If I wasn't banned from the current contest I'd have entered this into BJSC, I now suspect I'll be banned from sending it next time but for a different reason!
ANd to wrap this up:
Thank you for the win! I'm genuinely and pleasantly surprised. It was one of my favourites from 2018 so I'm glad it was so well received here too. Do I have the honour of hosting the next one?
To those mentioning BJSC... I'm not actually sure what that is. 👀
Ah cool, I voted for the winner, that doesn't happen often. Congrats blacksquare! Looking forward to your hosting.

I gave six points to the winning song. Well done blacksquare. And thanks to Dandy for finally getting this finished! All you need to do now is finish the Pet Shop Boys rate results.
Well it's excellent to be reminded of Estrons and Plastician, they are both naturally fantastic songs for different reasons and listening to them now confirms that, always loved heavy guitar things like Estrons and 'Japan' is a beautifully chill instrumental. Winner is decent, apparently I didn't vote for it but it sounds good enough and that landslide is quite something so congratulations blacksquare!

thanks for doing this dandy, enjoyed the way it was revealed and the leisurely pace is kinder on my sleeping times than BJSC!
I hadnt really noticed the winner in amongst my first choices, but it's a good un, so congrats Blacksquare! I also had no idea what BJSC was till someone suggested I join It's a great way to find new music gems and a lot of fun.
Omg Chez WHAT an entry I stan so hard gutted that didn’t win tbh </3
Okay so apparently these were my votes:
