This premiered on their site today, unknown if it's going to be part of the fourth album but it's AMAZING.

Glad to see their still experimenting and loving this sound!

wub.gif about time for some new stuff! Amazing! any idea when it's out on itunes?

Posted by: Brett-Butler 4th March 2011, 06:22 PM

This sounds like the Kaiser Chiefs sans the keyboards. Looks like lyrics aren't the main area of concern this time around (unless this is a b-side?)

Posted by: Mr Self Destruct 4th March 2011, 06:23 PM

what a pleasant surprise to come home to this.

Posted by: SKOB 4th March 2011, 07:16 PM

Cool!

Humbug was a definite highlight of their career and this sounds flawless

Posted by: Cremey 4th March 2011, 07:19 PM

Aah I was hoping we'd be getting some new material from them soon! Quite liking this on first listen-nothing spectacular though.

Posted by: Thomsen 5th March 2011, 12:29 AM

Like it!

Posted by: God 5th March 2011, 12:35 AM

f*** SAKE WHY AREN'T MY SPEAKERS WORKING.

Posted by: JamesP 5th March 2011, 11:21 AM

Having calmed down from my inital excitement of new Arctics material, I think the best thing about this is it's kind of a mix of the first two with a bit of humbug thrown in for yet another progressional sound. And remember, this is only a hype track, so it's giving me alot of hope for the album.

Posted by: Acoustic 5th March 2011, 11:32 AM

It's an ok track. I'm so excited for new material from them though!

Posted by: Rooney 5th March 2011, 01:18 PM

Hmm not sure I like it. Might need a few listens. I'm not sure I like the effects on the vocals either...

It sounds like a modern day Beatles impression with some guitar solos in it tbf. Not that that's a bad thing.

Posted by: Damo Suzuki 6th March 2011, 04:14 AM

I wanted to dislike this, as wasn't really a fan of 'Humbug', just so I could yak on about them "selling out" their original sound...

However, this is a pretty sweet track.

what? I perfer their original sound but, their original sound was much more commercial and easy to sell, 'Humbug' was in no way a sell out move.

Posted by: Mark. 6th March 2011, 11:50 PM

Sounds alright, quite like this one.

Posted by: richie 7th March 2011, 08:45 AM

Didn't do much for me, might grow on me like Crying Lightning eventually did. Then I never really got into Humbug in the same way as the first two albums.

Posted by: Horatio 8th March 2011, 11:09 AM

Thought it was fairly repetitive and without their usual charm in sound and lyrics, hope I'll like their other new songs more.

4TH ALBUM DETAILS biggrin.gif

Arctic Monkeys will release their fourth album, entitled 'Suck It And See' on Monday 6th June 2011.

'Suck It And See' features 12 new Arctic Monkeys songs and was produced by James Ford at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles.

The album will be available on CD (WIG258CD), vinyl (WIG258LP) and via digital download (WIG258D). The tracklisting for 'Suck It And See' is below:

01. She's Thunderstorms
02. Black Treacle
03. Brick By Brick
04. The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala
05. Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair
06. Library Pictures
07. All My Own Stunts
08. Reckless Serenade
09. Piledriver Waltz
10. Love Is A Laserquest
11. Suck It And See
12. That's Where You're Wrong

Much as I love Brick By Brick, I really hope it isn't the lead single...

Posted by: Rooney 10th March 2011, 01:31 PM

Ahhhhhhh EXCITED biggrin.gif

I don't think it will be the lead single, Domino's marketing team will have just done what Foo Fighters did most likely. Although I'm not sure how they'll approach releasing singles off this album. Three months till the album drops, so the lead single will probably air mid-late April. Exciting all the same.

Posted by: Grandwicky 10th March 2011, 01:43 PM

I love it how the song titles are so them laugh.gif particularly 'Love Is A Laserquest' , 'Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair' and 'The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala'

It's nothing like the clip suggested either, so I think that's why I'm even more happy with it! The riff is frigging incredible.

Much better than 'Brick By Brick' too. Aaah.

Posted by: Doctor Blind 12th April 2011, 04:34 PM

Not really loving the single on first listen like I did with "Crying Lightning". sad.gif

Hopefully a grower!

Posted by: Bray 12th April 2011, 04:39 PM

This is great biggrin.gif Far better than Crying Lightning

Posted by: Rooney 12th April 2011, 05:07 PM

Much better than I thought it would be judging by the clip. High hopes for the album. Just can't help but feel they're going to end up trying to put the style of the lyrics from the first two albums into the sound of Humbug mind.

I don't like the way he sings sometimes these days. Maybe its just his voice has changed idk.

Posted by: Josh 12th April 2011, 10:59 PM

If I'm being honest, it's a bit underwhelming...

Posted by: nicco 13th April 2011, 09:59 AM

It's like they want to have a more mature sound, but it doesn't suit them just yet. Maybe it will grow on me.

Posted by: Horatio 13th April 2011, 07:05 PM

Sad to say that I don't like it, wasn't too fond of Humbug either. Guess they're just moving in a direction away from the style I like, quite a shame since I absolutely loved their first 2 albums and the first EPs.

Did like the Cut Copy cover alot though.

Do you mean the 'White album'? That one had no title (which was only suggested by the white cover) on it and only the band's name.
The "Suck it and see" album hasn't the band's name of it, only the title, so it's the opposite situation actually.

So it's not the same "trick" at all to be fair... I mean, yeah kind of the same logic if you wanna go that way, but it's still pretty much different and the "Suck it and see" cover stands on it own, no need to refer to an album released in 1968 to draw a comparaison...

Your post was just that remarkable Bert.

Just because The White Album only had the band name, and this has the album name does not make them entirley different concepts? This has been done before and it's just not original or clever anymore. Here's a similar example:

Posted by: Mr Self Destruct 25th April 2011, 06:01 PM

thats just off the top of my head. and mostly are inspired by The Beatles, much like Arctic Monkeys clearly are.

it's a boring and overdone way to do a cover. especially considering how interesting the 'Humbug' cover was.

as james said just because The Beatles has the band name and AM's have the album name doesnt mean they are different, what the words actually say mean nothing when it comes to the design.

Posted by: space 26th April 2011, 08:09 PM

ok , not the most original idea ever but at least you have to suck it n see the difference...

Posted by: MancunianGiraffe 26th April 2011, 08:16 PM

To be fair, the Beatles idea has been nicked far more blatantly by many other bands in the past - pretty much any album called "The *insert colour here* Album" (except for Jay-Z's Black Album) so that's Metallica, Weezer three times and probably others.

Think I'll just go back to listening to Bon Iver instead.

Posted by: JamesP 18th May 2011, 07:38 PM

OK, here's how I stand after a few listens:

She's Thunderstorms // 6.5/10 // A nice enough start, but nothing special.
Black Treacle // 9.5/10 // Love this, really nice.
Brick By Brick // 8/10 // Re-grown on me this one, and it fits in quite well where it's placed.
The Hellcat Spangled Shalala // 5/10 // Nice, but a bit of a yawnfest.
Don't Sit Down Cos I've Moved Your Chair // 10/10 // Duh.
Library Pictures // 11/10 // This albums 'Pretty Visitors'. Love this track so much, this is the Monkeys we know and love!
All My Own Stunts // 7.5/10 // Good if not a little dull, Homme is the redeeming feature.
Reckless Serenade // 9/10 // Beautiful little track this one, really grown on me since first heard it last week.
Piledriver Waltz // 5/10 // I'm not sure what to make of what they've done to it. Alex's solo version is so much better.
Love Is A Laserquest // 4/10 // And from here on in the album begins to send us to sleep.
Suck It And See // 5/10 // Better, but no cigar.
That's Where You're Wrong // 4/10 // DULL

OVERALL, that scores it 7.04/10 which isn't half bad really. As you can tell though, it's either GREAT or filler. Definitley their worst album but by no means terrible.

Posted by: space 26th May 2011, 08:03 AM

its definitely dofferent than Humbug, different than any other AM's album.
much poppier and sweat , like a murdly bum&LSP&leave the lights...

Went to see the Arctic Monkeys on Wednesday night in Manchester and they were excellent. Sadly had to leave before it finished as I had a youngster with me and really didn't fancy fighting for the last train back. The Vaccines in support were absolutely terrific. No fancy set design, lighting effects, even big screens - just really enjoyable - almost rockabilly music. If you get the chance to see them - grab it!

Posted by: Ashley 11th November 2011, 11:02 PM

Saw them in Liverpool. Started off brilliant, bit of a lull for the second half, great encore. The crowd were shit though. Don't know if it's me acting like an old man but crowds nowadays just don't seem to be anywhere near as rowdy as they used to be. My theory is that ticket prices have turned concert going into a middle class event...lots of milling about...not much moshing. Kelly Clarkson at MEN on her Breakaway tour had a wilder crowd than Arctic Monkeys in Liverpool.

The boys are back:

Great song. Great video.

This has reignited my interest in Arctic Monkeys.

I think it is just a stop-gap single. No new album for a while, they're doing a massive tour in America now.

I quite like it, more than I did from the Suck It and See era. They are just turning in to Queens of the Stone age though. Absolutely killer riff mind.

this is the best thing I've heard from them in a while! very instant and infectious, a lot better than 'Don't Sit Down...'

Exactly QOTSA I thought of when I heard it. Can't say I mind though. It's great song and better than most of the stuff from Suck It See which bored me.

'Suck It And See' is an ok album but does contain some absolutely fantastic stuff easily up there with their best, but it's certainly their weakest album overall. 'Don't Sit Down...' is comfortably their weakest ever single.

Quite like this, worth a purchase certainly!

meh hope it's a grower.

Not excited by this. Think they're starting to become rather ordinary

Posted by: tonyttt31 28th February 2012, 12:44 PM

I like the riff on first listen.

I like the fact 'R U Mine?' is doing well. I also prefer it over their last 3 singles (which I do like, but they weren't brilliant).

And for some reason, I never played their first 3 albums in full. 'Suck It And See' is my first. Oh, well, I like listening to it lately.

I think this is the best thing they've done since Favourite Worst Nightmare.

It's definately their best single since Fluorescent Adolescent, that's for sure. I only own Whatever People Say I Am..., but to me, since Teddy Picker, the only thing that's remotely interested me (bar this of course) was Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved your chair. And that wasn't exactly AMAZING. R U Mine? a return to form? I hope so...

Love this record. i still think they've got it. The little Yorkshire scamps

The b-side to 'R U Mine?', 'Electricity':

(only radio rips available at the moment it seems)

Far superior in my opinion, best thing they've done for ages.

Posted by: ¿ CHARLIE ? 19th April 2012, 02:47 PM

Not sold on first listen, oddly because it bears closest resemblance to "No One Knows" which is my favourite QOTSA track.
