BuzzJack Music Forum _ Indie, Rock and Alternative _ Noah Kahan - Stick Season

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 19th July 2023, 10:34 AM

This folk banger looks like it’ll make the Top 40 soon following a remix with Post Malone! It’s from Noah Kahan’s new deluxe album ‘Stick Season (We’ll All Be Here Forever)’.

Posted by: Roba. 19th July 2023, 11:14 AM

Wasn't sure about this for the first minute but it did get better as it went along.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 25th July 2023, 12:01 AM

Looking set to go Top 40 this week!

Posted by: conorw 25th July 2023, 10:51 AM

its really grown on me this weekend! im loving this now after finding it quite meh before. glad it looks like top 40 is set for it. i do also prefer the post malone version <3

also i found out that ive actually seen this live?! he was the opener for dermot kennedy at the 02 back in april and although i came in late i apparently caught this as it was at the end of his set and ive got a video of it performed in my camera roll which ia funny to me laugh.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 18th September 2023, 05:06 PM

So glad that 'Dial Drunk' managed to go Top 40 one of my favourite songs of the year!

'Call Your Mom' is at #84 in the mids today following the release of a remix with Lizzy McAlpine.

Posted by: uhsting 19th September 2023, 04:20 PM

oh love this one!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 4th October 2023, 11:30 AM

The title track seems to be taking off after Olivia Rodrigo covered it in the Live Lounge, it's up to #70 on Spotify today!

Meanwhile, a new version of 'She Calls Me Back' with Kacey Musgraves will release on Friday.

Posted by: Brer 4th October 2023, 11:38 AM

'Stick Season' is also up a fair bit to a new peak of #30 on US Spotify so not sure it's just because of that Live Lounge. Interested to see if it'll finally debut on the Hot 100 now, feels like it's been on Bubbling Under for ages.

I've thought both of his UK top 100 hits so far have been quite good but missing something to make me really love them - 'Dial Drunk' reminded me a lot of Mumford & Sons and 'Call Your Mom' has a hint of Coldplay to it (specifically 'Fix You'). I definitely think he has the potential to have some great songs, I do still need to check out his Zach Bryan collab too.

Even better news then, must have just been good timing for Olivia to cover it.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 12th October 2023, 11:23 AM

It debuted at #69 in the end, and looks like it'll make the Top 40 this week!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 14th October 2023, 11:04 AM

and it did! #28, one of my favourite Top 40s for a while now.

He's also managed another Top 100 single as 'She Calls Me Back' debuted at #95.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 27th October 2023, 07:54 PM

In the Top 10 now! wub.gif

Posted by: Danæ 28th October 2023, 09:30 PM

well I’ve belatedly gave this a listen now it’s top ten and it’s surprisingly good after I didn’t care whatsoever for Dial Drunk.

quite reminiscent of Avicii even without the synths but looks like someone’s already had that idea to beef it up that way anyhow

Posted by: pippa 30th October 2023, 06:28 PM

It has taken a long time but finally Stick Season has properly taken off.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 2nd November 2023, 10:59 AM

'Northern Attitude' with Hozier is out tomorrow! I wonder if the entire album is getting new versions at this point then?

So far we've had:

Dial Drunk feat. Post Malone
Call Your Mom feat. Lizzy McAlpine
She Calls Me Back feat. Kacey Musgraves
And now Northern Attitude feat. Hozier

Hopefully the title track will be next!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 10th November 2023, 06:17 PM

'Stick Season' is up to #8 today, and here's the Hozier version of 'Northern Altitude' (I got the date wrong in my last post lol):

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 11th November 2023, 09:14 AM

Nozier are at #17 on Spotify today! Hopefully another Top 40 for Noah.

Posted by: Bjork 11th November 2023, 12:11 PM

and most amazing, #2 in the US!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 11th November 2023, 12:15 PM

A 'Stick Season' remix with Olivia Rodrigo would be brilliant after Christmas, I think that could push it to #1.

Posted by: conorw 11th November 2023, 01:57 PM

I love Olivia’s cover, and I think it would be very smart for both to cash in on it, I think it could easily be a #1 tbst way especially in the us, but I kinda feel like they won’t just cos it would be Olivia’s first collab and I’m not sure if they’d want that to be a remix? Hope to he proven wrong though!

Oop tbf I was meaning first collab with her solo music career ie sour-guts etc

Posted by: Y'all Starlight 17th November 2023, 05:53 PM

What a day for this album! The album rises to a new peak of #6 on the albums chart today thanks to his UK tour and a few signed print bundles. The title track is also up to #5 on the UK singles chart today! 'Northern Attitude' becomes his highest ever debut on the UK singles chart as it debuts straight in at #16 and 'You're Gonna Go Far' also debuts at #92.

This man is truly at the peak of his powers right now!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 17th November 2023, 05:59 PM

Wow! Great to see.

If he plays his cards right, I can see his next lead single/album being massive.

Posted by: Bjork 23rd November 2023, 07:39 PM

oh my he covered Olivia in the live lounge today

we need a Noah/Olivia duet!

Posted by: conorw 23rd November 2023, 07:55 PM

I really think they’re missing a massive hit for both by not releasing the stick season duet after her cover. Sure she’s massive and it’s a hit on its own but releasing a remix would make it massive imo. Hopefully he adds that to his list as he’s remixing lots of the tracks by the looks of it- there’s a Gracie Abram’s one on the way soon!

Posted by: Who’sXmasSack 27th December 2023, 11:09 AM

'Everywhere, Everything' with Gracie Abrams also released a few weeks ago and made #72 - his chart history is looking quite full now!

I really hope 'Stick Season' can go #1 officially in the next few weeks.

Posted by: Hadji 27th December 2023, 09:11 PM

Noah should bring his physical release a week forward to this Friday

Posted by: conorw 27th December 2023, 11:29 PM

I don’t think it’ll make too much difference, if anything it’s probably gonna secure him more than one week at #1

Posted by: uhsting 28th December 2023, 03:31 AM

So glad Noah Kahan is getting mainstream attention now! ohmy.gif I've been following him for years literally and he puts out really great stuff. Northern Attitude is a banger of his and Everywhere, Everything is decent x

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 3rd January 2024, 10:57 AM

#1 in the mids! "You're Gonna Go Far" is also at a new peak of #69.

Nice.

Posted by: Brer 3rd January 2024, 06:03 PM

I was hoping 'Everywhere, Everything' would be back as his third song and get a new peak, I don't really care too much for 'You're Gonna Go Far' at least off one listen, nevermind!

The right 2 songs are his 2 biggest (well, highest charting) hits so far though! 'Northern Attitude' is really great, hope it should be set to re-enter the top 40 this week.

Posted by: Y'all Starlight 5th January 2024, 05:43 PM

He's done it!

'Stick Season' finally hits #1 in the UK today cheer.gif

The album is also in the top 5 albums chart for the first time at #5!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 10th January 2024, 08:01 PM

‘Homesick’ is the next track to get a remix. He hasn’t said who is featured on it yet, but rumours are that it’s Bon Iver!

Other people are suggesting Marcus Mumford or Mt. Joy.

Almost certain it’s going to be Sam Fender.

but why he's releasing all these duet versions? I thought cos he was gonna do a new version of the album including all those?
what's the point of releasing all these brilliant versions with lizzy, hozier etc for nothing?

Well, they're getting the songs charting!

Perhaps a new version will come, there's still a lot that haven't been remixed.

Posted by: darrens94 11th January 2024, 12:48 PM

I could see ‘Homesick’ becoming a hit if it is Sam Fender featuring on it. Quite looking forward to hearing it.

It’s almost certainly Sam now, his audio engineer shared the Noah teaser post on his story.

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 16th January 2024, 04:45 PM

I assume it’s a “remix” of the Noah song? I like the snippet. Sounds more in Sam’s sound than that I know of Noah’s?

Posted by: Liаm 16th January 2024, 04:50 PM

Yeah it’s a Noah song, it sounds very Sam Fender ish in the first place! Really good choice of collab for this song, can’t wait to hear it.

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 16th January 2024, 04:56 PM

Thanks for the clarification! Maybe I’ll take a listen to it if it’s more in-line with Sam’s sound anyway! Looking forward to hearing this version on Friday.

Posted by: conorw 16th January 2024, 04:58 PM

I’m loving Noah remixing all the songs! Can’t wait for this, my faves so far have been she calls me back with Kacey Musgraves, dial drunk with post malone and everywhere everything with Gracie but this is sounding brill too! Would love an official alvim of these remixes, would love a physical copy!

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 16th January 2024, 05:00 PM

Oh if it’s just “another remix” for Noah’s project then feel free to add this to his album thread aha. I assumed it was a standalone single and being pushed somewhat laugh.gif oops.

Posted by: Bjork 16th January 2024, 05:03 PM

the original is one of the highlights from the album and already sounds very Sam Fender-esque

love all these duets versions especially the one with Hozier and I'm passing on buying the album until he makes a version with all of them included

Posted by: Y'all Starlight 16th January 2024, 06:09 PM

Nice choice of collaborator from Noah! It'll be nice to hear Sam's voice on a song again. It feels like ages since we last heard him on a song tbh

I'd love to see Noah & Sam perform it at the Brits in March!

Posted by: LiamSime 17th January 2024, 11:26 AM

Just listened to the original and it’s brilliant, Sam will make it even better! Excited dance.gif

Posted by: ___∆___ 19th January 2024, 10:53 AM

Bloody brilliant collab - Spotify have placed it at #3 on NMF, hopefully a hit incoming.

Lyric video

Posted by: Tafty³³³ 20th January 2024, 02:16 PM

HUGE debut!

Debuts at #3 with 620,978 (#2 combined with just under 700k!)

Posted by: conorw 20th January 2024, 02:47 PM

Noah really is on fire!! I wish postys version of dial drunk was bigger because that is brill, and I’m looking forward to who else he works with. Fingers crossed for a new complete album w features on physicals!

Posted by: Ansel 20th January 2024, 04:44 PM

All I've heard from Noah is Stick Season (which I can't really get into tbh) and now Homesick which is great! It's very 2010s early streaming era indie folk, but I'm here for that coming back. Quite surprised the original has never charted, the "I'm mean because I grew up in New England" line was all over TikTok a few months back?

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 22nd January 2024, 06:47 PM

'Homesick' is at #3 in the mids, good to see both artists coming for another Top 10!

I’m guessing Ari might sneak ahead but amazing that it’s heading for the Top 5 on week 1 and still holding at #5 on Spotify!

Hopefully it hangs around for a while.

Posted by: Bjork 23rd January 2024, 10:51 AM

one thing that would have been genius is if they had changed the lyrics in the new version to
"I'm mean because I grew up in England", would have made more sense with Sam on board smile.gif

Stick season (forever) out 9th feb!
Last part of the era with 2 new remixes. Paul revere and you’re gonna go far! Hasn’t announced the names though for who is on them.
Bittersweet as I doubt we’re gonna get Olivia on stick season now, but also I can see how he wants to wrap the era up and move on to new music!

Posted by: Bjork 25th January 2024, 08:28 AM

His post said PAUL REVERE with _ _ _ _ _ _ _, _ _ _ _, _ _ _ _ _ _
and
YOU'RE GONNA GO FAR with _ _ _ _ _ _, _ _ _ _ _ _ _

pretty sure Olivia Rodrigo is the 2nd one
the first one could be Gregory Alan Isakov, which I love love love, but not sure if too unknown/low key

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 25th January 2024, 08:54 AM

A lot of fans are guessing Gregory, and I can’t see who else it’ll be with those blanks.

He has 6.6m monthly listeners, so is far from a complete unknown.

Posted by: Y'all Starlight 25th January 2024, 08:58 AM

I can certainly see Marcus Mumford being on 'You're Gonna Go Far' as well! They performed together a few months ago iirc

Posted by: Bjork 25th January 2024, 09:55 AM

sure Isakov is not unknown and if you like singer-songwriter stuff, you know him
but hardly on the same level of Hozier or Sam Fender.
last time he played here in Denmark we maybe were 10 people in the audience ohmy.gif guess he's more popular in the US...

and yes probably Marcus Mumford makes more sense than Olivia
she's kinda too big for this I reckon

Posted by: conorw 25th January 2024, 10:02 PM

I honestly hope it is Marcus. If he was doing one with Olivia it should be on stick season and I personally think it would be disappointing If he managed to get her for a collab and they didn’t do it for the one everyone wanted lol. I’m also sad he’s ending it now cos I think ig would be so cool to go tboufh and remix every single song! Paul revere is one of my faves tho so glad it’s having a moment!

Stick Season now #1 in Australia.

Posted by: Y'all Starlight 15th February 2024, 06:53 PM

Wow, just got back from seeing him live yesterday!

As expected, he is a fantastic musician and vocalist (his band were also great btw). Oddly enough, the lyrics really hit home during the concert as well, I hadn't really appreciated them until that point oop. I think we'll be seeing Noah have a lot of success for many years to come, he's already got SUCH a devoted fanbase who absolutely love him and his music. Due to this, I felt kinda embarrassed at times to not know all the lyrics to some of his songs laugh.gif (even quite a large portion of the crowd knew 'Pain Is Like Cold Water' word-for-word, that song hasn't even been released yet ohmy.gif). He is also really good at interacting with audience, he certainly got a few laughs out of me!

I also was blessed with the opportunity of meeting him at a signing in Kingston *_* I really felt quite bad for Noah when I met him, he looked really uncomfortable and nervous while having the social interactions (he also implied that he didn't like doing things like signings by saying "everything in the music industry apart from shows are bullsh*t" at his show lol). I'm really still struggling to process the fact that I met him!

I think we'll be seeing a lot of Noah in the coming years...

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 16th February 2024, 06:30 PM

Now officially a #1 album! cheer.gif

Sorry to hear that you can't get tickets sad.gif Yeah, I also really struggled to get tickets originally. I quite literally had to search on Ticketmaster every hour for weeks laugh.gif I live in Scotland so Glasgow was the closest city obvs but I can't remember even seeing a single ticket available there at any stage of the gig being onsale oop. It wasn't ideal to go to London for the gig but I did make the trip a bit more worthwhile by adding in a few more things.

Posted by: conorw 18th February 2024, 11:14 AM

Aah glad you had a good time, sounds like a blast! It’s my 18th in April so I’m trying to convince my (loaded) aunt to buy me some resale tickets for his august show as a birthday present lol. Fingers crossed for that. He did also put some extra signed cds and vinyls up online through banquet records so I grabbed one of those, can’t wait for it to come! I’m hoping we get the forever on physicals at least but I feel like he’s trying to end the era now as it’s been 2 years and wants to move onto new music, so might make an unofficial stick season (forever) cd for myself
