Yay! It's good to be taking part again after my brief break and what a batch of entries to come back to. It made perfect sense to go with this theme given the success this type of music is having in charts around the world.

When I saw it for the first time, I got confused and wasn't really sure. Now, I'm quite convinced. PureNRG (at this contest) is the trance project made by Solarstone and Giuseppe Ottaviani.
Does it mean having artist(s) and their side project at the same contest can pass any vetoes?

Let's say another examples: deadmau5, Kaskade, and Kx5; Armin van Buuren, Benno de Goeij / Rank 1, and GAIA

I would suggest this was accidentally missed, or was not considered to be an issue, but I do see your point.

For example, I had considered two artists for this which are one and the same - Ferry Corsten and Gouryella, but I decided against it, but I knew they were both the same artist under different names, it is not always so obvious in other cases though. But well picked out anyway! I guess we could do with an extra set of eyes on the veto panel!

I think Cow P would've genuinely been the only person to spot that! I'm not clued up on my Trance history so wouldn't have for one second even clicked on that any of those were the same people. It's a fair point to make and perhaps something to consider for veto research moving forward that we do a bit of a deeper dive into artist history but for now we shall continue as is with this contest

An innocent oversight I'm sure, very well spotted though. This happened in BJSC last year too with Paul Seul and ascendant vierge (which is 50% Paul Seul, although apparently he goes by the name of Paul Orzoni now...) in the same contest.

Yes that would have been tough to spot, especially given it’s a remixer rather than the original act. Excellent knowledge there though!

yeah completely passed me by the possibility that there’d be producer aliases cropping up, our veto process is mostly checking the song itself fits the theme and isn’t too well known. given in this case they’re just the remixers here it’s not that big a deal
anyhow.

my personal opinion is that aliases and remixes go a bit beyond what the no duplicate artists rule is meant to stop anyway, it has happened a few times in BJSC in the past

I think we would have blocked Paul Seul / ascendant vierge from being sent to the same contest if I'd actually noticed during research tbf but yeah no big deal here really.

Funnily enough ascendant vierge also being in this contest ofc! That's the only song other than my own that I've already heard as it was also sent to the PopJustice Song Contest recently. A couple more artists I know mostly from other song contests as well as usual. Great turnout for this contest, joint 2nd most entries ever it appears! Interested to know what the split is between trance entries and eurodance entries (guessing it's likely quite heavily skewed to trance)

I did a quick count by skim listening to the tracks until I thought I could place them in one or the other - I might have made a couple of miscategorisations so could easily be challenged on this but I make it 21 trance to 4 eurodance entries - those 4 being Split-Splat, Klaas, horsegiirL and nanobii.

a couple of the other entries on the shorter side did give me pause for a minute but they did still feel more trance-esque in their instrumentation.

It’s my own fault for not voting sooner and having a busy weekend on the deadline due date. I’m also having to try and get TBO votes in but that’s been extended by a day so that helps. I’ll do what I can but I also can’t promise much and based on the reaction to my entry I wouldn’t expect a deduction to make much difference to the outcome for me. I’ll still try tomorrow night though.

I must say the funniest thing in this contest was horsegiirL appearing in both this and the last BJSC and the opening line of the entry here being "hello, it's me again". Almost like it was intentional
